Abstract
A novel bidirectional high-sensitivity fiber-optic bending sensor based on the concave-lens-like long-period fiber grating (CLL-LPFG) is designed and demonstrated. The CLL-LPFG is composed by an array of arc-shaped grating planes, and accordingly, its refractive index modulation serves as a concave lens. As a result, the eigencladding mode of the device gets closer to the device surface than the conventional counterpart. Therefore, the proposed sensor provides a more sensitive result. The experimental results show that the bending sensitivities of the CLL-LPFG reach -32.782 nm/m-1 within the bending range of 0-2.08 m-1, which is about sixfold compared to the reported arts. The sensitivity can be potentially improved by optimizing the grating parameters, and the temperature characteristics of the CLL-LPFG can be used to manipulate the grating spectrum.

Abstract
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive non‑Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with poor prognosis. The rapid progression and frequently relapse make it urgent to identify therapeutic agents with potent antitumor effect. Increasing evidence indicated that dysregulation of Wnt/β‑catenin pathway and abnormal methylation appeared to promote tumorigenesis. Arsenic trioxide (As2O3, ATO) has been reported effective in many hematologic malignancies in recent studies, however, the mechanism and effects of ATO in MCL still need further research. In this study, ATO was shown to promote apoptosis and to inhibit cell viability in MCL cell lines, whereas, the expression of DNA methyltransferase-1 (DNMT-1), β‑catenin and the downstream molecules of Wnt/β‑catenin pathway such as c‑myc, cyclin D1 and MMP7 were all decreased in a dose-dependent manner with ATO. ATO also attenuated upregulation of β‑catenin after LiCl stimulation and provided synergistic effect with 5-azacytidine (5-azaC) on the DNMT-1 inhibition. The results indicated that ATO may suppress MCL by targeting Wnt/β‑catenin pathway and DNMT-1. These findings may guide drug usage of ATO in clinical therapy for MCL.

Abstract
Differential evolution (DE) is one of the best evolutionary algorithms (EAs). The effort of improving its performance has received great research attentions, such as adaptive DE (JADE). Based on the analysis on the aspects that may improve the performance of JADE, we introduce a modified JADE version with sorting crossover rate (CR). In JADE, CR values are generated based on mean value and Gaussian distribution. In the proposed algorithm, a smaller CR value is assigned to individual with better fitness value. Therefore, the components of the individuals, which have better fitness values, can appear in the offspring with higher possibility. In addition, the better offspring generated from last iteration are supposed to have better schemes, hence these schemes are preserved in next offspring generation procedure. This modified version is called as JADE algorithm with sorting CR (JADE_sort). The experiments results with several excellent algorithms show the effectiveness of JADE_sort.

Abstract
Glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) exert actions on the hippocampus that are important for memory formation. There are correlations between vascular dysfunctions and GR-related gene expression. Both vascular dysfunction and GR gene expression decline occur during the ageing process. Therefore, hypotensors, which have effects on improving vascular dysfunction, may be able to ameliorate GR gene expression decline in ageing mice and improve ageing-mediated memory deficits. In this study, we hypothesized that hypotensors could alleviate the decline of GR gene expression and ameliorate age-induced learning and memory deficits in a D-gal-induced ageing mice model. In line with our hypothesis, we found that chronic D-gal treatment decreased GR and DCX expression in the hippocampus, leading to learning and memory deficits. Amlodipine (AM) and puerarin (PU) treatment improved GR gene expression decline in the hippocampus and ameliorated the learning and memory deficits of D-gal-treated mice. These changes correlated with enhanced DCX expression and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in the hippocampus. Furthermore, PU treatment conveyed better effects than AM treatment, but combination therapy did not enhance the effects on improving GR expression. However, we did not find evidence of these changes in non-D-gal-treated mice that lacked GR gene expression decline. These results suggest that AM and PU could improve D-gal-induced behavioural deficits in correlation with GR gene expression.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To provide an important tool for the study of diagnose and treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) osseous metastasis and change of bone stress force on prostate cancer (PCa) osseous metastasis and a platform, which is more congruous to clinical process, for prevention and cure of neoplastic bone metastases, and to carry out the construction and improvement of animal models of PCa with different positional osseous metastasis in vivo. METHODS Different gradient concentrations of RM-1 cells were inoculated into the cavity of left femoral bone or lumbar vertebra of mice (C57BL/6) respectively. The change of mouse activity, tumor formation, tumor size and survival time were observed respectively. And the femur tissue and spinal tissue were obtained from the mice after death. The gray value of iconography were measured by imageological examination of femur tissue, and the final histopathological examination were taken to determine the tumor type in both femur and spinal tissue. RESULTS The tumor growth could be touched at the puncture site in all the mice after inoculated for 7 days. There were no obvious differences in the time of tumorigenesis, the rate of tumor growth and tumor size among the mice in the same group (P>0.05). As the result, the construction femoral bone and lumbar vertebra metastatic models of PCa had been confirmed by iconography and pathology detection. At the same time, the survival time of the mice inoculated with low concentrations of PCa cells was obviously longer than that of high concentrations of PCa cells ( at least 2 weeks longer). CONCLUSION The animal models with different positional osseous metastasis (limbs and axial skeleton) of PCa using the same PCa cells (RM-1) had been first constructed successfully in our study. At the same time, a high success rate of construction of PCa animal model with bone metastasis was obtained by femoral bone marrow cavity injection of PCa cells. The rate of tumor growth was rapid, animal survival time was appropriate, and the PCa animal model with bone metastasis can be stably reproduced by our method. These animal models can be used to explore the pathogenesis of different positional PCa bone metastasis and provide a new platform, which were more congruous to clinical process, for prevention and cure of neoplastic bone metastases.

Abstract
The prevalence of thyroid nodules, especially differentiated thyroid cancer, has increased during the past decades. With the consideration of increasing prevalence of the diseases, American Thyroid Association (ATA) updated the guidelines for adult patients with thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) in 2015. The aim of the new guidelines was to minimize potential harm from overtreatment in majority of patients at low risk for diseasespecific mortality and morbidity while appropriately treat and monitor those patients at higher risk. The updates of contents in new ATA guidelines are interpreted in this article, including the contents about screening, diagnosis and treatment plan of nodules, initial surgical treatment of DTC, the evaluation and treatment of DTC after surgery, follow-up and diagnosis and treatment of recurrence, persistence, and distant metastasis of DTC.

Abstract
Objective: To explore whether CD137-CD137L signaling mediated exocytosis of autophagosome within vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) could influence the formation of atherosclerotic calcification. Methods: Fifteen 8-week-old male ApoE(-/-)(C57BL/6J-KO) mice fed with high fat diet for 5 weeks were randomly divided into three groups by using stochastic indicator method as follows: control group, n=5; agonist-CD137 group: agonist-CD137 antibody 200 μg/2 weeks for 4 weeks, ip, n=5; anti-CD137 group: 200 μg anti-CD137 antibody+ 200 μg agonist-CD137 antibody/2 weeks for 4 weeks, ip, n=5. Von Kossa staining was applied to observe the calcification of the thoracic aortic atherosclerotic plaque in each group. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of LC3 and Beclin1 which were the autophage markers of early-to-mid stage; Western blot was adopted to quantify protein level of microtubule-associated proteins 1 light chain 3B(LC3B) and mammalian ortholog of the yeast autophagy-related gene 6 (Beclin1). Transmission electron microscope (TME) was used to observe the formation of autophagosome in plaque. C57BL/6J mouse VSMCs were cultured by using tissue piece inoculation method. Groups of in vitro studies were the same as in vivo study: control group, agonist-CD137 group, anti-CD137 group, the agonist-CD137 groups was treated with agonist-CD137 antibody (10 μg/ml) and anti-CD137 group was treated with anti-CD137 antibody (10 μg/ml) for 30 minutes, followed by agonist-CD137 antibody (10 μg/ml). Von Kossa staining and osteogenesis phenotypic alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity detection were adopted to observe calcification in VSMCs. Autophagosomes were separated from the supernatant of the agonist-CD137 group with density gradient centrifugation method. VSMCs were divided into two groups: positive group (containing complete medium with above autophagosomes to a final concentration 15 μg/ml) and negative group (only complete medium) after being pretreated with mixed inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β、IFN-γ and TNF-α, final concentration was 25 ng/ml respectively) for 24 hours and calcium deposition and osteogenesis phenotypic marker bone morphogenetic protein 2(BMP2) were then detected. Results: (1) Compared with the control group, activation of the CD137-CD137L signal significantly increased the formation of calcification area in thoracic aortic atherosclerotic plaque of ApoE(-/-) mice((1.82±0.15)×10(4) μm(2) vs. (0.34±0.08)×10(4) μm(2,) P<0.01), this effect was significantly attenuated by inhibiting this signal ((0.83±0.30)×10(4) μm(2) vs. (1.82±0.15)×10(4) μm(2,) P<0.05); positive autophagy makers LC3B and Beclin1 were detected in both agonist-CD137 group and anti-CD137 groups and the expression of LC3B and Beclin1 was substantially higher in anti-CD137 group. Western blot analysis indicated that the expression of LC3B and Beclin1 in agonist-CD137 group was significantly upregulated compared with the control group (0.17±0.01 vs. 0.03±0.08, P<0.05, and 0.12±0.02 vs. 0.06±0.02, P<0.05), which could be significantly downregulated in anti-CD137 group (0.28±0.09 vs. 0.17±0.01, P<0.05 and 0.17±0.02 vs. 0.12±0.02, P<0.05). TME showed that the number (QTY /HP) of autophagosome of agonist-CD137 group and anti-CD137 group in plaque were both increased (14.67±2.52 vs. 3.67±1.53, P<0.01, and 15.33±2.08 vs. 3.67±1.53, P<0.01), while in the agonist-CD137 group, the number of extracellular autophagosome within thoracic aortic atherosclerotic plaque of ApoE(-/-) mice increased more substantially (5.33±1.53 vs. 1.33±0.58, P<0.01). (2) In vitro study showed that activating CD137-CD137L signal could promote calcium deposition in extracellular matrix and the activity of osteogenesis phenotypic ALP((6.73±0.02) μmol/mg protein vs. (1.07±0.03) μmol/mg protein, P<0.05), and ((563.20±0.72) U/mg protein vs. (117.50±0.64) U/mg protein, P<0.05), while these effects were significantly blunted in anti-CD137 group ((1.94±0.05) μmol/mg protein vs. (6.73±0.02) μmol/mg protein, P<0.05, and (236.10±0.14) U/mg protein vs. (563.20±0.72) U/mg protein, P<0.05). TME showed that the number of intracellular autophagosome in agonist-CD137 group and anti-CD137 group was both significantly higher than in control group ((21.65±1.34) μg/ml vs. (8.32±1.58) μg/ml, P<0.01, and (15.42±1.65) μg/ml vs. (8.32±1.58) μg/ml, P<0.05). After the density gradient centrifugation, exocytotic autophagosome in the medium of agonist-CD137 group was markedly higher than in control group ((14.67±1.53) μg/ml vs. (2.33±1.15) μg/ml, P<0.01). (3) Compared with the control group, autophagosomes isolated from culture supernatant (final concentration: 15 μg/ml) could significantly stimulate calcium deposition((2.30±0.10) μmol/mg protein vs. (0.15±0.40) μmol/mg protein, P<0.05) and enhance the expression of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (2.10±0.04 vs. 0.30±0.01, P<0.05). Conclusion: CD137-CD137L signaling could mediate exocytosis of autophagosome within VSMCs, thus influence the formation of atherosclerotic calcification.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between venous blood routine test parameters and syncopal recurrence of children with vasovagal syncope (VVS). Method: Sixty-three children (male 32, female 31) diagnosed as VVS in Department of Pediatrics, Peking University First Hospital from November 2010 to October 2015 were included in a case observational study.Their mean age was (11.2±2.7) years and basic treatment such as predisposing causes avoiding, standing training, autonomic nervous function exercise and oral rehydration salts were advised to them. The clinical data were obtained by out-patient visit and over telephone from December 2015 to January 2016, with a median follow-up period of 10 (4, 26) months. The effects of baseline venous blood routine test parameters, gender, age, and body mass index (BMI) on syncopal recurrence were studied via univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis.Kaplan-Meier curve was used to evaluate the long-term prognosis. Result: Among the 63 VVS children in this study, 31 cases were diagnosed as VVS vasodepressor type, 4 cases as VVS cardioinhibitory type and 28 cases as VVS mixed type, 16 cases (25%) had experienced recurrence of syncope while 47 cases (75%) had not.The result of univariate analysis of Cox regression showed that baseline platelet count (PLT) (HR=1.012, 95%CI: 1.003-1.022) had a marked impact on the survival rate. And the result of multivariate analysis of Cox regression showed that baseline hemoglobin concentration (HGB) (HR=1.055, 95%CI: 1.007-1.105), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) (HR=0.612, 95%CI: 0.423-0.884) and PLT(HR=1.015, 95%CI: 1.006-1.024) had significant effects on survival rate of VVS children. In this study, the one-year, two-year, and three-year survival rate were 83% (52/63), 79% (50/63) and 75% (47/63), respectively. Conclusion: The baseline venous blood routine test parameters HGB, MCH and PLT might be the influencing factors of the syncopal recurrence of VVS children.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the predictive values of different critical scoring systems for mortality in patients with severe acute respiratory failure (ARF) supported by venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO). METHODS Forty-two patients with severe ARF supported by VV-ECMO were enrolled from November 2009 to July 2015.There were 25 males and 17 females. The mean age was (44±18) years (rang 18-69 years). Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Simplified Acute Physiology Score Ⅱ (SAPS) Ⅱ, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), ECMO net, PRedicting dEath for SEvere ARDS on VVECMO (PRESERVE), and Respiratory ECMO Survival Prediction (RESP) scores were collected within 6 hours before VV-ECMO support. The patients were divided into the survivors group (n=17) and the nonsurvivors group (n=25) by survival at 180 d after receiving VV-ECMO. The patient clinical characteristics and aforementioned scoring systems were compared between groups. Scoring systems for predicting prognosis were assessed using the area under the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw the surviving curve, and the survival of the patients was analyzed by the Log-rank test. The risk factors were assessed for prognosis by multiple logistic regression analysis. RESULTS (1) Positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) 6 hours prior to VV-ECMO support in the survivors group [(9.7±5.0)cmH2O, (1 cmH2O=0.098 kPa)] was lower than that in the nonsurvivors group [(13.2±5.4)cmH2O, t=-2.134, P=0.039]. VV-ECMO combination with continuous renal replacement therapy(CRRT) in the nonsurvivors group (32%) was used more than in the survivors group (6%, χ(2)=4.100, P=0.043). Duration of VV-ECMO support in the nonsurvivors group [(15±13) d] was longer than that in the survivors group [(12±11)d, t=-2.123, P=0.041]. APACHE Ⅱ, APACHE Ⅲ, APACHE Ⅳ, ECMO net, PRESERVE, and RESP scores in the survivors group were superior to the nonsurvivors group (all P<0.05). (2) The areas under the ROC curve of APACHE Ⅳ score for predicting death were largest (0.792±0.076, 95%CI: 0.643-0.940, P<0.05). The best cutoff point was 48 for APACHE Ⅳ score with a sensitivity of 92.0%, specificity of 64.7%, and overall accuracy of 81%. (3) Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that 180 d survival rate of the low APACHE Ⅳ score group was higher than the high APACHE Ⅳ score group (χ(2)=11.331, P<0.05). (4) Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that PEEP (OR=1.555, 95%CI: 1.097-2.204, P<0.05), APACHE Ⅳ score (OR=1.152, 95%CI: 1.021-1.301, P<0.05), and PRESERVE score (OR=4.984, 95%CI: 1.531-16.227, P<0.05) were independent risk factors associated with mortality of patients supported by VV-ECMO. CONCLUSION The critical scoring systems proved to have good prognostic ability in predicting hospital mortality for severe ARF patients supported by VV-ECMO. Compared to other scoring systems, APACHE Ⅳ score system predicted more accurately, while specific scoring systems in predicting hospital mortality showed no advantage.

Abstract
microRNA (miR)-142-3p is implicated in malignancy and has been identified as a biomarker for aggressive and recurrent lung adenocarcinomas. This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of miR-142-3p on apoptosis and inflammation induced by bleomycin in MLE-12 cells. MLE-12 cells were first transfected either with miR-142-3p mimic or miR-142-3p inhibitor and then the cells were exposed to 50 μg/mL of bleomycin. Thereafter, cell viability, apoptosis and the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines were assessed using CCK-8, flow cytometry, RT-PCR and western blot analyses. Cox-2, PI3K, AKT and mTOR expressions were detected by western blotting after bleomycin was administered together with NS-398 (an inhibitor of Cox-2). As a result, cell viability was significantly decreased, as well as apoptosis and the expression of IL-1 and TNF-α were remarkably increased after 50 and 100 μg/mL of bleomycin administration. miR-142-3p overexpression alleviated bleomycin-induced apoptosis and overproduction of these two pro-inflammatory cytokines, while miR-142-3p suppression exhibited completely opposite results. Up-regulation of Cox-2 and inactivation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR were found in bleomycin-pretreated cells, while these abnormal regulations were partially abolished by miR-142-3p overexpression and NS-398. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that miR-142-3p overexpression protected bleomycin-induced injury in lung epithelial MLE-12 cells, possibly via regulating Cox-2 expression and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. These findings provide evidence that miR-142-3p may be a therapeutic strategy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) treatment.

Abstract
Bcl-2 associated athanogene 3 (BAG3) contains a modular structure, through which BAG3 interacts with a wide range of proteins, thereby affording its capacity to regulate multifaceted biological processes. BAG3 is often highly expressed and functions as a pro-survival factor in many cancers. However, the oncogenic potential of BAG3 remains not fully understood. The cell cycle regulator, S-phase kinase associated protein 2 (Skp2) is increased in various cancers and plays an important role in tumorigenesis. The current study demonstrated that BAG3 promoted proliferation of ovarian cancer cells via upregulation of Skp2. BAG3 stabilized Skp2 mRNA via its 3'-untranslated region (UTR). The current study demonstrated that BAG3 interacted with Skp2 mRNA. In addition, miR-21-5p suppressed Skp2 expression, which was compromised by forced BAG3 expression. These results indicated that at least some oncogenic functions of BAG3 were mediated through posttranscriptional regulation of Skp2 via antagonizing suppressive action of miR-21-5p in ovarian cancer cells.

Abstract
Homeodomain-containing gene 10 (HOXC10) belongs to the homeobox family, which encodes a highly conserved family of transcription factors that plays an important role in morphogenesis in all multicellular organisms. Altered expressions of HOXC10 have been reported in several malignancies. This study was aimed to reveal the expression profile of HOXC10 in osteosarcoma and evaluated whether HOXC10 is a molecular target for cancer therapy. We found that HOXC10 was up-regulated in osteosarcoma tissues compared with bone cyst specimens from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Osteosarcoma MG63 cells were infected with HOXC10 shRNA expressing vector, and 143B cells were infected with HOXC10 expressing vector. We found that reduced expression of HOXC10 markedly impaired the ability of proliferation, invasion, and migration, and promoted cell apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. Up-regulated expression of HOXC10 promoted the proliferation, invasion, and migration, and inhibited apoptosis of 143B cells. Additionally, HOXC10 regulated apoptosis and migration via modulating expression of Bax/Bcl-2, caspase-3, MMP-2/MMP-9, and E-cadherin in both MG63 and 143B cells and in vivo. These results indicated that HOXC10 might be a diagnostic marker for osteosarcoma and could be a potential molecular target for the therapy of osteosarcoma.

Abstract
We demonstrate the fabrication of an angle-chirped long-period fiber grating (ACLPFG) in a single-mode fiber via CO2 laser pulses. Because of the Berry phase introduced by the ACLPFG, the interference acquires an extra phase difference determined by the torsion of the device. By using that unique characteristic of the proposed device, a high sensitivity sine function torsion response is achieved. The torsion sensitivity is significantly improved, and the temperature crosstalk is effectively avoided by using the relative measurement technology. The torsion sensitivity is ~16 folds (~0.94 nm/ (rad/m)) higher than that of the normal long-period fiber grating (LPFG) with only ~0.006 nm/°C temperature crosstalk within the range of 25-80 °C, which is ~10 folds lower than that of the normal LPFG.

Abstract
Introduction Airway obstruction and possible concomitant pulmonary diseases in COPD cannot be identified conventionally with any single diagnostic tool. We aimed to diagnose and grade COPD severity and identify pulmonary comorbidities associated with COPD with ventilation/perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (V/P SPECT) using Technegas as the functional ventilation imaging agent. Methods 94 COPD patients (aged 43–86 years, Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) stages I–IV) were examined with V/P SPECT and spirometry. Ventilation and perfusion defects were analyzed blindly according to the European guidelines. Penetration grade of Technegas in V SPECT measured the degree of obstructive small airways disease. Total preserved lung function and penetration grade of Technegas in V SPECT were assessed by V/P SPECT and compared to GOLD stages and spirometry. Results Signs of small airway obstruction in the ventilation SPECT images were found in 92 patients. Emphysema was identified in 81 patients. Two patients had no signs of COPD, but both of them had a pulmonary embolism, and in one of them we also suspected a lung tumor. The penetration grade of Technegas in V SPECT and total preserved lung function correlated significantly to GOLD stages (r=0.63 and −0.60, respectively, P<0.0001). V/P SPECT identified pulmonary embolism in 30 patients (32%). A pattern typical for heart failure was present in 26 patients (28%). Parenchymal changes typical for pneumonia or lung tumor were present in several cases. Conclusion V/P SPECT, using Technegas as the functional ventilation imaging agent, is a new tool to diagnose COPD and to grade its severity. Additionally, it revealed heterogeneity of COPD caused by pulmonary comorbidities. The characteristics of these comorbidities suggest their significant impact in clarifying symptoms, and also their influence on the prognosis.

Abstract
It has been shown that hematological traits can act as important indicators of immune function in both humans and livestock. T lymphocytes are key components of the adaptive immune system, playing a critical role in immune response. To identify genomic regions affecting hematological traits and T lymphocyte subpopulations, we performed both a SNP-based genomewide association study (GWAS) and a haplotype analysis for 20 hematological traits and 8 T cell subpopulations at 3 different time points (d 20, 33, and 35) in a Duroc × Erhualian F intercross population. Bonferroni correction was used to calculate the threshold -values for suggestive and 5% genomewide significance levels. In total, for SNP-based GWAS, we detected 96 significant SNP, including 15 genomewide-significant SNP, associated with 23 hematological traits and 234 significant SNP, including 27 genomewide-significant SNP, associated with 8 T cell subpopulations. Meanwhile, we identified 563 significant SNP, including 7 genomewide-significant SNP, associated with 5 hematological traits and 2,407 significant SNP, including 1,261 genomewide-significant SNP, associated with 8 T cell subpopulations by haplotype analysis. Among the significant regions detected, we propose both the () gene and the () gene on SSC3 as plausible candidate genes associated with CD/CD T lymphocytes at d 20. The findings provide insights into the basis of molecular mechanisms that are involved with immune response in the domestic pig and would aid further identification of causative mutations.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of perioperative transfusion of blood components on the long-term prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Methods: A total of 339 patients with primary HCC who underwent curative hepatectomy between January 2003 and December 2010 at the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences were enrolled. The clinical data of the patients were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into non-transfusion, fresh frozen plasma (FFP) transfusion only and concentrated red cells (CRC) transfusion groups. Disease-free survival and overall survival were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and Cox regression was performed to identify clinicopathological factors related with survival. Results: Among the 339 patients, the 1-, 3- and 5-year disease-free survival rates were 63.1%, 35.4% and 22.4%, respectively, and the median disease-free survival was 22 months. While the 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 90.5%, 69.5% and 56.4%, respectively, and the median overall survival was 72 months. The median disease-free survivals of the non-transfusion (n=181), FFP transfusion only (n=48) and CRC transfusion (n=110) groups were 28, 22 and 12 months, respectively, while the median overall survivals of the three groups were 99, 63 and 40 months respectively. Significant differences in the disease-free and overall survivals were observed among the three groups (both P<0.01). Multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that FFP transfusion only (HR=1.658, P=0.026), CRC transfusion (HR=1.470, P=0.030), serum alpha-fetoprotein>400 μg/L (HR=1.686, P=0.002), albumin<35 g/L (HR=1.782, P=0.047), tumor capsule (HR=0.597, P=0.012), tumor necrosis (HR=1.820, P=0.001) and the TNM stage Ⅲ or above (HR=2.537, P=0.000) were independent predictors of overall survival after hepatectomy. Conclusion: Both perioperative FFP only transfusion and CRC transfusion may have detrimental effect on the long-term prognosis of HCC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the factors associated with positive results of blood culture and the impact of positive results on the prognosis of patients in ICU of Peking University People's Hospital. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 1 008 blood culture results of 379 critical ill adult patients in ICU from July 1st, 2013 to June 30th, 2014. According to blood culture results, the patients were divided into positive and negative groups. The patients' maximal body temperature, sample collection times, number of bottles within 24 hours, routine hematological variables [(white blood cell count (WBC), percentage of neutrophils (NEU%), lymphocyte count (LYM), platelet count (PLT)], serum C-reactive protein (CRP), usage of antibiotics were compared between the two groups, as well as the patients' gender, age, duration of mechanical ventilation, length of ICU stay and hospital mortality rate. RESULTS The total positiverate of blood culture of our study was 15.38%, and the positive rate of patients was 24.27%.When compared between positive group and negative group, the medians of sample collection times were 3 and 1(P<0.000 1); the medians of sample bottles were 4 and 4(P=0.001 2); the medians of WBC were 8.61×10(9)/L and 9.95×10(9)/L(P=0.001 7); and the medians of mechanical ventilation time were 179.5 hours and 47 hours(P<0.000 1); the medians of length of ICU stay were 17 days and 7 days(P<0.000 1), respectively. Hospital mortality rates in positive patients and negative patients were 35.87% and 20.21%(P=0.002 2), respectively. There was no significant difference(P>0.05) between the two groups in body temperature, NEU%, LYM, PLT, CRP or usage of antibiotics. CONCLUSIONS Increasing the frequency of sampling and the bottles of blood culture will improve the positive rate of blood culture. The body temperature, WBC, NEU%, LYM, PLT, CRP, us age of antibiotics, gender and age have no effect on the positive rate of blood culture. The patients with positive blood culture results have longer duration of mechanical ventilation, longer ICU stayand higher hospital mortality rate.

Abstract
Doubling method is the technical barriers in maize haploid breeding. It was very important to establish the independent intellectual property rights for doubling method. In this experiment, the maize haploid inducer, TG15, was used for producing maternal haploids. Also, haploids were obtained from two kinds of maternal genotypes involved in the experiment, including high-oil type and common type. Significant differences were observed among offspring of various genotypes in the recovery of haploid fertilization. In 21 hybrid offspring haploids, the average powder rate was 8.28%, and the seed setting rate was 4.98%. The experimental results showed that when the hybrids were treated with 0.08% colchicine, the average powder rate and seed setting rate of offspring haploids were 35.53 and 20.30%, respectively, which were significantly higher than the hybrids with natural recovery ability. This study primarily established the doubling method of haploids called "bud seedling method" in China which was very practicably in maize doubled haploid breeding.

Abstract
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive subtype of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with poor prognosis. Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) has been reported as a bi-regulator in malignancies, but little is known about its role in MCL. Here, we showed that KLF4 was downregulated in three MCL cell lines and lymph nodes from MCL patients, which resulted in a negative prognosis. We also found that the regulation of KLF4 could inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of Jeko-1 cells. The lentivirally over-expressed KLF4 protein was found bind to β-catenin and could inhibit downstream molecules such as cyclinD1 and c-Myc. Furthermore, 5-azacytidine could decrease the expression of methyltransferase-1 (DNMT-1) and restore the KLF4 expression in MCL cell lines, indicating that methylation might play an important role in the downregulation of KLF4. KLF4 may be a potential therapeutic target as a tumor suppressor in MCL.

Abstract
Objective: To discuss the surgical treatment and efficacy of endoscopic nipple-sparing mastectomy with skin lifting system (ENSMSLS) followed by immediate breast reconstruction. Methods: ENSMSLS was conducted on 21 patients followed by immediate breast reconstruction with implant via axillary incision from August 2014 to January 2016 in Oncology Center, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University. These 21 patients were frequency matched with 21 patients, who received nipple-sparing mastectomy via loop periareolar incision from November 2012 to May 2015 in the same center. These 21 patients formed the control group. The operation data of two groups were compared by t test and Fisher's exact test. Results: Differences in operation time ((185±43) minutes vs. (165±33) minutes, t=1.778, P=0.101), amount of bleeding ((60±48) ml vs. (75±57) ml, t=-0.535, P=0.329), and drainage ((240±112) ml vs. (201±91) ml, t=1.238, P=0.233) between these two groups of patients were not statistically significant. There was no nipple necrosis recorded in the ENSMSLS group, while there were three cases (14.3%) recorded in the control group. Two cases (9.5%) of nipple transposition were recorded in the ENSMSLS group, while five cases (23.8%) were recorded in the control group. Differences in nipple necrosis and nipple transposition were statistically significant (0 vs. 5, P=0.001). There were 16 cases (76.2%) of excellent appearance recorded in the ENSMSLS group, while there were 11 cases (52.4%) recorded in the control group. There were 5 cases (23.8%) of good appearance recorded in the ENSMSLS group, while there were 9 cases (42.9%) recorded in the control group. There was no case of fair appearance in the ENSMSLS group, while there was 1 case (4.8%) recorded in the control group. Difference in postoperative appearance was statistically significant (P=0.001). Conclusions: ENSMSLS significantly decreases the possibility of nipple necrosis and nipple transposition. This technique avoids visible incisions of breast. It also enhances the aesthetic appeal of reconstructed breasts.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the influence of different diets on serum protein expression levels of 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE), thioredoxin (Trx), thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and the activities of Trx and TrxR, and to explore the effect of damage to the lung tissue and the underlying mechanisms of different body mass index caused by different diets in the rat models . Method: Healthy clean male SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, emaciation group and fat group, which were raised by different diets for 6 months. Then the rats were sacrificed and the serum and lung tissue were prepared. The levels of 4-HNE, Trx and TrxR in peripheral blood were quantitatively analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and the activities of Trx and TrxR were measured by chemical methods. Results: Compared with the normal group, the lung tissue had more apparent emphysema in the emaciation and the fat groups under light microscope, and more inflammatory cell infiltration in alveolar septum was observed in the fat group. The levels of 4-HNE in the fat group[(24.7±8.7)mg/L]was significantly higher than that in the normal group[(15.4±4.7)mg/L, P<0.05)], but there was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the levels of 4-HNE between the emaciation and the normal groups. The levels of TrxR in the emaciation group[(7.7±1.4)μg/ml]was significantly higher than that in the normal and the fat groups[(6.2±1.1), (4.9±1.4)μg/ml, all P<0.05)]. The level of TrxR in the fat group was significantly lower than that in the normal group(P<0.05); The differences in the levels of Trx among the 3 groups were not significant(P>0.05). The activity of Trx in the emaciation group[(32.4±8.5)×10-3A·min-1·mg-1]was significantly higher than that in the normal group[(19.6±3.3)×10-3A·min-1·mg-1]and the fat group[(11.3±7.5)×10-3A·min-1·mg-1, all P<0.01]. The activity of Trx in the fat group was significantly lower than that in the normal group(P<0.05). The activity of TrxR in the emaciation group[(17.6±4.6)×10-3A·min-1·mg-1]was significantly higher than that in the fat group[(7.8±2.3)×10-3A·min-1·mg-1, P<0.01], but the TrxR activity of the 2 groups showed no significant difference as compared with the normal group(P>0.05). Conclusion: Both high BMI and low BMI can affect the oxidative stress of the body, resulting in increased oxidants and decreased antioxidants, and can cause damage to the lung tissue in the rat models.
