Abstract
The aims of this study were: (i) the characterization of the structure of the indigenous microbial community associated with the sediments under study; (ii) the isolation and characterization of microbial consortia able to degrade the aged hydrocarbons contaminating the sediments, and (iii) the assessment of related biodegradation capability of selected consortia. Samples of surface sediments were collected in Priolo Gargallo harbour (Sicily, Italy). The samples were analysed for physical, chemical (GC-FID analysis) and microbiological characteristics (qualitative (16S rDNA clone library) and quantitative (DAPI, CFU and MPN count) analysis). The sediment samples were used for the selection of two microbial consortia (indicated as PSO and PSM) with high biodegradation capacity for crude oil (∼95%) and PAHs (∼63%) respectively. Genetic analysis showed that Alcanivorax and Cycloclasticus were the dominant genera in both the PSO and PSM consortia. Oil-polluted environments naturally develop an elevated biorecovery potential. The presence of a highly specialized microbial flora (adapted to support the contamination) and their stimulation through favourable induced conditions provides a promising recovery strategy. The chance to identify and select indigenous bacteria and/or consortia with a high biodegradation capacity is fundamental for the development and optimization of bioaugmentation strategies especially for those concerning in situ applications.

Abstract
This paper describes current advances on the application of in-silico for the understanding of bicuspid aortopathy and future perspectives of this technology on routine clinical care. This includes the impact that artificial intelligence can provide to develop computer-based clinical decision support system and that wearable sensors can offer to remotely monitor high-risk bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) patients. First, we discussed the benefit of computational modeling by providing tangible examples of in-silico software products based on computational fluid-dynamic (CFD) and finite-element method (FEM) that are currently transforming the way we diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases. Then, we presented recent findings on computational hemodynamic and structural mechanics of BAV to highlight the potentiality of patient-specific metrics (not-based on aortic size) to support the clinical-decision making process of BAV-associated aneurysms. Examples of BAV-related personalized healthcare solutions are illustrated.

Abstract
Prominent accounts of Pavlovian conditioning successfully approximate the frequency and intensity of conditioned responses under the assumption that learning is exclusively model-free; that animals do not develop a cognitive map of events. However, these model-free approximations fall short of comprehensively capturing learning and behavior in Pavlovian conditioning. We therefore performed multivoxel pattern analysis of high-resolution functional MRI data in human participants to test for the encoding of stimulus-stimulus associations that could support model-based computations during Pavlovian conditioning. We found that dissociable sub-regions of the striatum encode predictions of stimulus-stimulus associations and predictive value, in a manner that is directly related to learning performance. Activity patterns in the orbitofrontal cortex were also found to be related to stimulus-stimulus as well as value encoding. These results suggest that the brain encodes model-based representations during Pavlovian conditioning, and that these representations are utilized in the service of behavior.

Abstract
Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) is the most frequently inherited cardiovascular disease (prevalence in the general population of 1/500) and is characterized by significant left ventricular hypertrophy, especially in the interventricular septum, combined with small-volume cardiac cavities. Transaortic surgical septal myectomy is the most commonly used technique to treat HOCM, and is associated with low operative morbidity and mortality and a reduction of the outflow gradients. The composite operative mortality of only 0.4% (17/3695 patients) from 5 major high-volume centers in North America highlights the role of dedicated HOCM units. The involvement of the mitral valve in the pathophysiology of HOCM has been addressed as systolic anterior motion (SAM)-related left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy mitral malformations include leaflet elongation and a wide array of malformations of the papillary muscles and chordae that can be detected by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and by cardiac magnetic resonance. Because they participate fundamentally in the predisposition to SAM, they have increasingly been repaired surgically.

Abstract
In pathological-forensic literature blast injuries are usually studied in relation to suicides, homicides during terroristic attacks and accidental events on the workplace, while the finding of these kinds of fatalities during misdoing is a recent occurrence. The Authors describe the peculiar case of the accidental death of the member of a criminal mob specialized in thefts to ATMs using acetylene tanks. The victim, having poured out the acetylene with the intent of triggering an explosion, was involved in the blast of the tank, deceasing immediately. This unusual manner of death highlights the danger of room saturation with acetylene, a criminal technique becoming more and more popular in the last years.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parkinson's disease is a degenerative neurological condition causing multiple motor and non-motor symptoms that have a serious adverse effect on quality of life. Management is problematic due to the variable and fluctuating nature of symptoms, often hourly and daily. The PD_Manager mHealth platform aims to provide a continuous feed of data on symptoms to improve clinical understanding of the status of any individual patient and inform care planning. The objectives of this trial are to (1) assess patient (and family carer) perspectives of PD_Manager regarding comfort, acceptability and ease of use; (2) assess clinician views about the utility of the data generated by PD_Manager for clinical decision making and the acceptability of the system in clinical practice. METHODS/DESIGN This trial is an unblinded, parallel, two-group, randomised controlled pilot study. A total of 200 persons with Parkinson's disease (Hoehn and Yahr stage 3, experiencing motor fluctuations at least 2 h per day), with primary family carers, in three countries (110 Rome, 50 Venice, Italy; 20 each in Ioannina, Greece and Surrey, England) will be recruited. Following informed consent, baseline information will be gathered, including the following: age, gender, education, attitudes to technology (patient and carer); time since Parkinson's diagnosis, symptom status and comorbidities (patient only). Randomisation will assign participants (1:1 in each country), to PD_Manager vs control, stratifying by age (1 ≤ 70 : 1 > 70) and gender (60% M: 40% F). The PD_Manager system captures continuous data on motor symptoms, sleep, activity, speech quality and emotional state using wearable devices (wristband, insoles) and a smartphone (with apps) for storing and transmitting the information. Control group participants will be asked to keep a symptom diary covering the same elements as PD_Manager records. After a minimum of two weeks, each participant will attend a consultation with a specialist doctor for review of the data gathered (by either means), and changes to management will be initiated as indicated. Patients, carers and clinicians will be asked for feedback on the acceptability and utility of the data collection methods. The PD_Manager intervention, compared to a symptom diary, will be evaluated in a cost-consequences framework. Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the role of Action Observation (AO) to improve balance, gait, reduce falls, and to investigate the changes in P300 pattern. Five cognitively intact People with Parkinson’s disease (PwP) were enrolled in this prospective, quasi-experimental study to undergo a rehabilitation program of AO for gait and balance recovery of 60 min, three times a week for four weeks. The statistical analysis showed significant improvements for Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) motor section III p = 0.0082, Short form 12-items Healthy Survey (SF-12) Mental Composite Score (MCS) p = 0.0007, Freezing of gait Questionnaire (FOG-Q) p = 0.0030, The 39-items Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) p = 0.100, and for P300ld p = 0.0077. In conclusion, AO reveals to be a safe and feasible paradigm of rehabilitative exercise in cognitively preserved PwP.

Abstract
Congo Red staining is usually used in diagnosing amyloidosis, a pathology characterized by the storage of abnormal proteins in several human organs. When assessed on samples fixated in formalin and embended in paraffin, this staining can undergo several artefacts, causing diagnostic and interpretative difficulties due to its weak stainability and a consequent reduced visibility of the amyloid. These complications, in time, requested several variations of this staining technique, especially in clinical practice, while in the forensic field no protocols has ever been adapted to cadaveric samples, a material that is already characteristically burdened by a peculiar stainability. In our work, studying a sudden death caused by cardiac amyloidosis and diagnosed only with post-mortem exams, we present a modified Congo Red staining used with the purpose to demonstrate amyloid in cadaveric material after the unsuccessfully use of all standard protocols.

Abstract
Malignancies are one of the leading causes of death in long-term surviving transplant recipients. Dose and prolonged durations of immunosuppressive regimens are considered the main cause, through a direct oncogenic effect and a renowned interaction on physiological anti-viral and anti-oncogenic immune response. Specific neoplasms are known to occur with different frequencies according to the transplanted organ. As a consequence, imaging screenings have been implemented in many graft surveillance programs, although a wide consensus on the timing and modality has not been concurred. There are little data available in the literature regarding incidence of de-novo malignancies in multi-organ recipients. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who developed a renal mass 10 years after a combined heart-kidney transplant.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex, chronic disease that many patients live with for many years. In this work we propose a mHealth approach based on a set of unobtrusive, simple-in-use, off-the-self, co-operative, mobile devices that will be used for motor and non-motor symptoms monitoring and evaluation, as well as for the detection of fluctuations along with their duration through a waking day. Ideally, a multidisciplinary and integrated care approach involving several professionals working together (neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists and nutritionists) could provide a holistic management of the disease increasing the patient's independence and Quality of Life (QoL). To address these needs we describe also an ecosystem for the management of both motor and non-motor symptoms on PD facilitating the collaboration of health professionals and empowering the patients to self-manage their condition. This would allow not only a better monitoring of PD patients but also a better understanding of the disease progression.

Abstract
SCOPE Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection reactivation is associated with high morbidity and mortality in patients with haematologic malignancy and/or haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). However, information on this issue is limited. The scope of this position paper is to provide recommendations on HBV screening, monitoring, prophylaxis, treatment and vaccination in the patients described above. METHODS These recommendations were developed from one meeting of experts attended by different Italian scientific societies as well as from a systematic literature review (of articles published through December 31, 2016) on HBV infection in haematologic patients and in patients who underwent haematopoietic stem cell transplantation published in the same issue of the journal. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology was used to assess each recommendation's quality. QUESTIONS ADDRESSED These recommendations provide the answers to the following questions: (a) HBV screening and monitoring: Who should be screened before chemotherapy? Which screening tests should be used? Should HBV-DNA detection be used to monitor HBV reactivation before starting antivirals? What is the best timeline to monitor HBV reactivation? (b) Prophylaxis in HBsAg-positive patients: Which antiviral drugs should be used to treat HBsAg-positive patients? How long should antiviral prophylaxis be provided to HBsAg-positive patients? (c) Prophylaxis in patients with resolved HBV infection: Which patients with resolved HBV infection should receive antiviral prophylaxis? Which antiviral drug should be used? How long should antiviral prophylaxis be provided? (d) HBV infection management strategy in autologous (auto-HSCT) and allogeneic HSCT (allo-HSCT): Which HSCT recipients should receive antiviral prophylaxis? Which antiviral drug should be used? How long should antiviral prophylaxis be provided? (e) Choice of antiviral drugs in the treatment of HBV reactivation: Should third-generation anti-HBV drugs be preferred to first- or second-generation antiviral drugs in the treatment of HBV reactivation with or without hepatitis flare in haematologic patients? (f) Immunization against HBV in patients with haematologic malignancies and/or patients who underwent HSCT: Should these patients be vaccinated? Which HBV vaccination schedule should be adopted? RECOMMENDATIONS Haematologic patients should be screened for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) plus anti-hepatitis B core protein (HBc), and HBV DNA before chemotherapy. HBV DNA levels should be monitored monthly in all HBV-positive patients who do not receive prophylaxis. HBsAg-positive haematologic patients and those undergoing HSCT should receive third-generation antiviral therapy as prophylaxis. Anti-HBc-positive lymphoma patients and those receiving HSCT should receive antiviral prophylaxis. All HBV-negative haematologic patients should be vaccinated for HBV. The acquisition of data from well-designed studies is desirable in the near future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The growth of new therapeutic options and practices increases the risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation in patients with haematologic malignancies and/or patients undergoing haematologic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). OBJECTIVES To provide a systematic review supporting recommendations for prevention, monitoring, prophylaxis and therapy of HBV reactivation in patients with haematologic malignancies and HSCT. DATA SOURCES The systematic review was based on a strategy using PubMed and the Cochrane Library searching literature published from 1991 to December 31, 2016. PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses) guidelines were followed. SELECTION CRITERIA Randomized control trials, prospective and retrospective cohort studies. RISK-OF-BIAS ASSESSMENT Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool and Newcastle Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale. RESULTS Forty-two studies of fair or good quality were included in this systematic review. The following main results were obtained: haematologic patients should be screened for HBV before chemotherapy; HBV DNA levels should be monthly monitored in all HBV-positive patients not receiving prophylaxis; hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive haematologic patients and patients undergoing HSCT should receive prophylaxis and third-generation HBV drugs should be provided; and anti-hepatitis B core protein-positive lymphoma patients and patients who underwent HSCT should receive antiviral prophylaxis. CONCLUSIONS A higher quality of evidence is needed. However, the level of evidence was sufficient to support the recommendations published in this issue of the journal.

Abstract
In this paper, a method for the assessment of the Unified Parkinson Disease Rating scale (UPDRS) related to tremor is presented. The method described consists of hand resting and posture state detection, tremor detection and tremor quantification based on accelerometer and gyroscope readings from a wrist worn sensor. The initial results on PD patient recordings on home environment indicate the feasibility of the proposed method in monitoring UPDRS tremor in patient home environment.

Abstract
Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV)-associated ascending aneurysmal aortopathy (namely "bicuspid aortopathy") is a heterogeneous disease making surgeon predictions particularly challenging. Computational flow analysis can be used to evaluate the BAV-related hemodynamic disturbances, which likely lead to aneurysm enlargement and progression. However, the anatomic reconstruction process is time consuming so that predicting hemodynamic and structural evolution by computational modeling is unfeasible in routine clinical practice. The aim of the study was to design and develop a parametric program for three-dimensional (3D) representations of aneurysmal aorta and different BAV phenotypes starting from several measures derived by computed-tomography angiography (CTA). Assuming that wall shear stress (WSS) has an important implication on bicuspid aortopathy, computational flow analyses were then performed to estimate how different would such an important parameter be, if a parametric aortic geometry was used as compared to standard geometric reconstructions obtained by CTA scans. Morphologic parameters here documented can be used to rapidly model the aorta and any phenotypes of BAV. t-test and Bland-Altman plot demonstrated that WSS obtained by flow analysis of parametric aortic geometries was in good agreement with that obtained from the flow analysis of CTA-related geometries. The proposed program offers a rapid and automated tool for 3D anatomic representations of bicuspid aortopathy with promising application in routine clinical practice by reducing the amount of time for anatomic reconstructions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To underscore how challenging the treatment of a coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) can be and highlight the need for consensus guidelines based on focused registries. CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION A 58-year-old man presented with acute coronary syndrome and underwent elective stent placement on a right CAA. The procedure was complicated by inferior acute myocardial infarction; 8 months later, due to remodeling toward a left ventricular aneurysm of the inferior wall, he experienced several episodes of sustained ventricular tachycardia that required urgent surgical treatment. CONCLUSION The best therapeutic option for CAA is still a matter of controversy, and though the percutaneous approach can meet the technical challenges, 'heart team'-based decision-making is recommended. The case reported here showed that percutaneous treatment of CAA can be a challenging procedure, even in experienced and high-volume centers. In our patient's case, undersizing the covered stent led to further migration and to a complication that was more severe than the original disease.

Abstract
Hemodynamic alterations occur when the elephant trunk (ET) technique is adopted to treat extensive aortic aneurysms. In planning the 2nd stage operation to complete ET repair, surgeons must weigh an adequate recovery time after initial surgery against the risk of postoperative ET-related complications. The purpose of this study was to understand the mechanistic link between the flow alteration caused by the ET graft and the development of premature aortic rupture before the 2nd stage operation. Specifically, fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis was performed using the CT imaging data of aorta at different stages of ET repair, and then computational variables were compared to those observed in patients who underwent a prophylactic 2nd stage operation to complete aortic repair. Results show that intramural stress exerted near the distal ET anastomosis (IMS=37.5kPa) at the time of urgent intervention was comparable to that of the extensive aortic aneurysm (IMS=47.4kPa) at initial in-hospital admission, but was considerably higher than that occurring after the 1st stage procedure (IMS=3.5kPa). Pressure index suggested higher peri-graft pressurization than aortic lumen pressure during diastole, imparting an apparent risk of aortic dilatation. These critical hemodynamic and structural parameters are related to the impending rupture of descending aorta observed clinically and can thus guide prophylactic intervention and optimal timing for the 2nd stage operation of a ET technique.

Abstract
We consider parametrically forced Hamiltonian systems with one-and-a-half degrees of freedom and study the stability of the dynamics when the frequency of the forcing is relatively high or low. We show that, provided the frequency is sufficiently high, Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser (KAM) theorem may be applied even when the forcing amplitude is far away from the perturbation regime. A similar result is obtained for sufficiently low frequency, but in that case we need the amplitude of the forcing to be not too large; however, we are still able to consider amplitudes which are outside of the perturbation regime. In addition, we find numerically that the dynamics may be stable even when the forcing amplitude is very large, well beyond the range of validity of the analytical results, provided the frequency of the forcing is taken correspondingly low.

Abstract
A detailed understanding of asymptomatic chronic viral infections is critical to analyse their pathogenesis, assess the severity and burden of disease and, where required, optimize public health control measures. Recent studies on herpesviruses showed that the host-virus interactions are modulated by co-infections, emphasizing the relevance of co-infections in determining the clinical expression (from asymptomatic to symptomatic infections) and the severity of herpesvirus-associated diseases (either neoplastic or infectious diseases). To demonstrate causality between viruses (virome) and diseases, Koch's postulates should be adapted adding new knowledge on host-microbe relationship and microbial interactions. In the present review we aim to provide an update on asymptomatic chronic infections and criteria for causality and on the virological, immunological and host-virus interactions in asymptomatic chronic infections in human hosts, focusing on herpetic infections.

Abstract
PURPOSE To describe the Gd-BOPTA MRI findings of intrahepatic mass-forming type cholangiocarcinomas (IMCs), with emphasis on the hepatobiliary phase (HBP). METHODS We reviewed retrospectively 29 IMC patients who underwent Gd-BOPTA-MRI between June, 2004 and June, 2014. Images were acquired prior to, and after, administration of 15-20 mL of Gd-BOPTA in the dynamic phase (arterial phase, portal venous phase, and 3-5 min phase), 10-15-min late phase, and 2-3 h HBP phase. RESULTS In the dynamic phase, 27 (93%) lesions showed a peripheral rim-like enhancement in the arterial and portal venous phases, followed by progressive filling-in on the delayed images. In 14 (56%) cases, a hypointense peripheral rim was identified in the 10-15-min late phase, delineating a target pattern. In the HBP, the cholangiocarcinoma showed a diffuse, mainly central and inhomogeneous enhancement (cloud of enhancement) in 28 (96%) patients; in 23 (79%) cases, there was an association between cloud appearance and a hypointense peripheral rim, showing a target pattern. CONCLUSIONS Gd-BOPTA MRI pattern of IMC on dynamic study is similar to that of conventional extracellular agents, that is peripheral enhancement with progressive and concentric filling of contrast material on delayed phases. At 10-15 min delayed phases, IMC shows often a peripheral hypointense rim consistent with a target appearance. In the HBP, due to progressive central enhancement (cloud) and peripheral hypointense rim, an higher number of tumors show a target appearance; this pattern is not specific and would also be expected to be seen in metastases from adenocarcinoma.

Abstract
The present study is focused on assessing the growth and hydrocarbon-degrading capability of the psychrophilic strain Oleispira antarctica RB-8(T). This study considered six hydrocarbon mixtures that were tested for 22days at two different cultivation temperatures (4 and 15°C). During the incubation period, six sub-aliquots of each culture at different times were processed for total bacterial abundance and GC-FID (gas chromatography-flame ionization detection) hydrocarbon analysis. Results from DNA extraction and DAPI (4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) staining showed a linear increase during the first 18days of the experiment in almost all the substrates used; both techniques showed a good match, but the difference in values obtained was approximately one order of magnitude. GC-FID results revealed a substantial hydrocarbon degradation rate in almost all hydrocarbon sources and in particular at 15°C rather than 4°C (for commercial oil engine, oily waste, fuel jet, and crude oil). A more efficient degradation was observed in cultures grown with diesel and bilge water at 4°C.

Abstract
Several viruses with different replication mechanisms contribute to oncogenesis by both direct and indirect mechanisms in immunosuppressed subjects after solid organ transplantation, after allogeneic stem cell transplantation, or with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human papillomavirus (HPV), Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV), human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) and Merkel cell polyoma virus (MCV) are the main viruses associated with the development of cancer in immunosuppressed patients. Besides being a main cause of immunodeficiency, HIV1 has a direct pro-oncogenic effect. In this review, we provide an update on the association between the condition of acquired immunodeficiency and cancer risk, specifically addressing the contributions to oncogenesis of HPV, MCV, KSHV, HTLV-1, and EBV.

Abstract
Decades of research have demonstrated a role for the hippocampus in spatial navigation and episodic and spatial memory. However, empirical evidence linking hippocampal activity to the perceptual experience of being physically located at a particular place in the environment is lacking. In this study, we used a multisensory out-of-body illusion to perceptually ‘teleport’ six healthy participants between two different locations in the scanner room during high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The participants were fitted with MRI-compatible head-mounted displays that changed their first-person visual perspective to that of a pair of cameras placed in one of two corners of the scanner room. To elicit the illusion of being physically located in this position, we delivered synchronous visuo-tactile stimulation in the form of an object moving toward the cameras coupled with touches applied to the participant’s chest. Asynchronous visuo-tactile stimulation did not induce the illusion and served as a control condition. We found that illusory self-location could be successfully decoded from patterns of activity in the hippocampus in all of the participants in the synchronous (P < 0.05) but not in the asynchronous condition (P > 0.05). At the group-level, the decoding accuracy was significantly higher in the synchronous than in the asynchronous condition (P = 0.012). These findings associate hippocampal activity with the perceived location of the bodily self in space, which suggests that the human hippocampus is involved not only in spatial navigation and memory but also in the construction of our sense of bodily self-location.

Abstract
The senses of owning a body and being localized somewhere in space are two key components of human self-consciousness. Despite a wealth of neurophysiological and neuroimaging research on the representations of the spatial environment in the parietal and medial temporal cortices, the relationship between body ownership and self-location remains unexplored. To investigate this relationship, we used a multisensory out-of-body illusion to manipulate healthy participants' perceived self-location, head direction, and sense of body ownership during high-resolution fMRI. Activity patterns in the hippocampus and the posterior cingulate, retrosplenial, and intraparietal cortices reflected the sense of self-location, whereas the sense of body ownership was associated with premotor-intraparietal activity. The functional interplay between these two sets of areas was mediated by the posterior cingulate cortex. These results extend our understanding of the role of the posterior parietal and medial temporal cortices in spatial cognition by demonstrating that these areas not only are important for ecological behaviors, such as navigation and perspective taking, but also support the perceptual representation of the bodily self in space. Our results further suggest that the posterior cingulate cortex has a key role in integrating the neural representations of self-location and body ownership.

Abstract
Previous research has shown that the integration of multisensory signals from the body in fronto-parietal association areas underlies the perception of a body part as belonging to one's physical self. What are the neural mechanisms that enable the perception of one's entire body as a unified entity? In one behavioral and one fMRI multivoxel pattern analysis experiment, we used a full-body illusion to investigate how congruent visuo-tactile signals from a single body part facilitate the emergence of the sense of ownership of the entire body. To elicit this illusion, participants viewed the body of a mannequin from the first-person perspective via head-mounted displays while synchronous touches were applied to the hand, abdomen, or leg of the bodies of the participant and the mannequin; asynchronous visuo-tactile stimuli served as controls. The psychometric data indicated that the participants perceived ownership of the entire artificial body regardless of the body segment that received the synchronous visuo-tactile stimuli. Based on multivoxel pattern analysis, we found that the neural responses in the left ventral premotor cortex displayed illusion-specific activity patterns that generalized across all tested pairs of body parts. Crucially, a tripartite generalization analysis revealed the whole-body specificity of these premotor activity patterns. Finally, we also identified multivoxel patterns in the premotor, intraparietal, and lateral occipital cortices and in the putamen that reflected multisensory responses specific to individual body parts. Based on these results, we propose that the dynamic formation of a whole-body percept may be mediated by neuronal populations in the ventral premotor cortex that contain visuo-tactile receptive fields encompassing multiple body segments. We examine the neural and perceptual correlates of whole-body ownership. Behavioral findings describe the formation of a whole-body multisensory percept. We use multivoxel pattern analysis of fMRI data to explore the linked neural basis. Activity patterns in the ventral premotor cortex reflect a whole-body percept.

Abstract
Amorphous cellulose particles, obtained through a solvent-free mechano-chemical process, have been tested for the first time as a potential filler for biodegradable composites based on poly(ɛ-caprolactone) (PCL). Commercial cellulose fibers have been also tested for comparison. An effective interfacial strategy based on a compatibilizing agent, a modified PCL, has been used to improve the polymer/filler interfacial adhesion. Composites have been tested through physico-mechanical characterizations and soil burial degradation tests, in order to evaluate the influence of cellulose structure and morphology and polymer/filler interfacial adhesion on the final properties of the realized materials. The use of the amorphous cellulose particles combined with the presence of a suitable interfacial agent has allowed to modulate relevant technological properties of the realized composites, such as tensile and thermal properties, water absorption, water vapor transmission rate and biodegradation kinetic.
