Coupled-Channel Analysis of the χ_{c1}(3872) Line Shape with BESIII Data. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:151903. [PMID: 38682963 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.132.151903] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/05/2023] [Revised: 01/03/2024] [Accepted: 03/11/2024] [Indexed: 05/01/2024]
Abstract
We perform a study of the χ_{c1}(3872) line shape using the data samples of e^{+}e^{-}→γχ_{c1}(3872), χ_{c1}(3872)→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0}, and π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ collected with the BESIII detector. The effects of the coupled channels and the off-shell D^{*0} are included in the parametrization of the line shape. The line shape mass parameter is obtained to be M_{X}=(3871.63±0.13_{-0.05}^{+0.06}) MeV. Two poles are found on the first and second Riemann sheets corresponding to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} branch cut. The pole location on the first sheet is much closer to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} threshold than the other, and is determined to be 7.04±0.15_{-0.08}^{+0.07} MeV above the D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0} threshold with an imaginary part -0.19±0.08_{-0.19}^{+0.14} MeV.

Observation of the Anomalous Shape of X(1840) in J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) Indicating a Second Resonance Near pp[over ¯] Threshold. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:151901. Abstract
Using a sample of (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/c^{2} in the line shape of the 3(π^{+}π^{-}) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840) and X(1880). The new state X(1880) is observed with a statistical significance larger than 10σ. The mass and width of X(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.7 MeV/c^{2} and 30.7±5.5±2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a pp[over ¯] bound state.

Study of the f_{0}(980) and f_{0}(500) Scalar Mesons through the Decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:141901. Abstract
Using e^{+}e^{-} collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb^{-1} recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we present an analysis of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}, where the D_{s}^{+} is produced via the process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*±}D_{s}^{∓}. We observe the f_{0}(980) in the π^{+}π^{-} system and the branching fraction of the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} with f_{0}(980)→π^{+}π^{-} measured to be (1.72±0.13_{stat}±0.10_{syst})×10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The dynamics of the D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} decay are studied with the simple pole parametrization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatté formula describing the f_{0}(980) in the differential decay rate, and the product of the form factor f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| is determined for the first time to be f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.017_{stat}±0.035_{syst}. Furthermore, the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e} is searched for the first time but no signal is found. The upper limit on the branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e}, f_{0}(500)→π^{+}π^{-} decay is set to be 3.3×10^{-4} at 90% confidence level.

Abstract
Quantitative analysis of irregular anatomical structures is crucial in oral medicine, but clinicians often typically measure only several representative indicators within the structure as references. Deep learning semantic segmentation offers the potential for entire quantitative analysis. However, challenges persist, including segmentation difficulties due to unclear boundaries and acquiring measurement landmarks for clinical needs in entire quantitative analysis. Taking the palatal alveolar bone as an example, we proposed an artificial intelligence measurement tool for the entire quantitative analysis of irregular dental structures. To expand the applicability, we have included lightweight networks with fewer parameters and lower computational demands. Our approach finally used the lightweight model LU-Net, addressing segmentation challenges caused by unclear boundaries through a compensation module. Additional enamel segmentation was conducted to establish a measurement coordinate system. Ultimately, we presented the entire quantitative information within the structure in a manner that meets clinical needs. The tool achieved excellent segmentation results, manifested by high Dice coefficients (0.934 and 0.949), intersection over union (0.888 and 0.907), and area under the curve (0.943 and 0.949) for palatal alveolar bone and enamel in the test set. In subsequent measurements, the tool visualizes the quantitative information within the target structure by scatter plots. When comparing the measurements against representative indicators, the tool's measurement results show no statistically significant difference from the ground truth, with small mean absolute error, root mean squared error, and errors interval. Bland-Altman plots and intraclass correlation coefficients indicate the satisfactory agreement compared with manual measurements. We proposed a novel intelligent approach to address the entire quantitative analysis of irregular image structures in the clinical setting. This contributes to enabling clinicians to swiftly and comprehensively grasp structural features, facilitating the design of more personalized treatment plans for different patients, enhancing clinical efficiency and treatment success rates in turn.

Abstract
1. Two experiments were conducted to explore the effects of an exogenous sfericase protease on the apparent ileal nutrient digestibility of soybean meal (SBM) and rapeseed meal (RSM) in broiler chickens.2. In each experiment, a total of 256 sixteen-day-old male Cobb 500 broilers were fed one of four semi-purified experimental diets, comprising two different batches (A and B) of samples for either SBM (Exp. 1) or RSM (Exp. 2) without or with an exogenous sfericase (0 or 30,000 NFP/kg). Each experimental diet was fed to eight replicate pens of broiler chickens from 16 to 21 d of age (eight birds per cage), and ileal digesta were collected for measuring the digestibility coefficients.3. In Exp. 1, the amino acid digestibility was greater (P < 0.05) in SBM B compared with SBM A for Arg and Val, and a similar trend (P < 0.1) was observed for Tyr, Leu and Thr. Exogenous sfericase increased (P < 0.10) digestibility of most of amino acids except Gly, His and Trp. There was an interaction between SBM source and sfericase, whereby digestibility of P, N and Asp was increased by sfericase for SBM B but not for SBM A. In Exp. 2, there was no interaction (P > 0.05) between RSM source and sfericase for ileal nutrient digestibility. Digestibility was greater in RSM A compared to RSM B for all non-essential AA and most essential AA (except for Trp), while the reverse was noted for Ca and P (P < 0.05). Exogenous sfericase increased (P < 0.1) digestibility for all amino acids except Cys and Met.4. In conclusion, the current studies showed that both SBM and RSM batches influenced amino acid digestibility. Sfericase protease supplementation increased amino acid digestibility for both SBM and RSM. The digestibility effects were greater in the SBM batch with low digestibility for N and Asp which was in line with an increase in P digestibility.

Abstract
Vectorial holography through a strongly scattering medium can facilitate various applications in optics and photonics. However, the realization of vectorial holography with arbitrary distribution of optical intensity is still limited because of experimental noise during the calibration of vectorial transmission matrix (TM) and reconstruction noise during the retrieval of input wavefront for a given holographic target. Herein, we propose and experimentally demonstrate the vectorial holography with arbitrary distribution of optical intensity over a multimode fiber (MMF) using the Tikhonov regularization. By optimizing the noise factor, the performance of vectorial holography over an MMF is improved compared with the conjugate transpose and inverse TM methods. Our results might shed new light on the optical communication and detection mediated by MMFs.

Abstract
This study aimed to screen autochthonous strains with broad-spectrum biogenic amine (BA) degradation ability from traditional dry sausages and to evaluate their BA-degrading ability in dry sausages. A total of 120 strains were isolated from dry sausages collected from various regions in Northeast China, and 35 of 120 isolates were identified as non-BA producing strains by the in vitro agar method. The random amplified polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction technique genotyped these 35 isolates into 18 biotypes. Moreover, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) quantification showed that six strains (Latilactobacillus sakei MDJ6; Lactiplantibacillus plantarum SH7; Weissella hellenica DQ9; Staphylococcus saprophyticus JX18 and SYS8; and Macrococcus caseolyticus SYS11) of the 18 biotypes exhibited broad-spectrum BA-degrading ability, all of which had various levels of amine oxidase activity with monoamine oxidase and diamine oxidase activities ranged of 6.60-619.04 and 26.32-352.81 U/mg protein, respectively. These six strains were subsequently inoculated into dry sausages and the results showed that they exhibited varying degrees of BA-degrading ability, of which strain Lat. sakei MDJ6 allowed to have less BA production on dry sausage with a final concentration of 61.33 mg/kg.

Abstract
The potential of sodium alginate (SA) at different mass ratios to improve the emulsifying ability of soy protein isolate (SPI) in high internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) was evaluated in this work. SPI-SA particles were used as a natural particle stabilizer of HIPPEs with 80 % oil phase. The properties of particles with varying SPI to SA ratios (10:0, 10:1, 10:3, 10:5, 10:10, and 10:15 w/w) were evaluated. HIPPEs with a 10:10 SPI to SA ratio exhibited the smallest droplet sizes. Both the storage modulus and loss modulus of the HIPPEs increased with increasing SA addition ratios, implying that HIPPEs with higher SA addition have stronger gel characteristics. In addition, super-resolution microscopy and cryogenic scanning electron microscopy indicated that SA addition strengthened the compactness of the interface film and increased the distribution uniformity of HIPPEs. In conclusion, the combination of SPI and SA is beneficial for improving the performance of HIPPEs.

Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to short-distance physics effects, sensitive to processes beyond the standard model, are extracted directly from the data through a q^{2}-unbinned amplitude analysis, where q^{2} is the μ^{+}μ^{-} invariant mass squared. Long-distance contributions, which originate from nonfactorizable QCD processes, are systematically investigated, and the most accurate assessment to date of their impact on the physical observables is obtained. The pattern of measured corrections to the short-distance couplings is found to be consistent with previous analyses of b- to s-quark transitions, with the largest discrepancy from the standard model predictions found to be at the level of 1.8 standard deviations. The global significance of the observed differences in the decay is 1.4 standard deviations.

Observation of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} in the Amplitude Analysis of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131903. [PMID: 38613307 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.132.131903] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/23/2023] [Revised: 01/10/2024] [Accepted: 02/14/2024] [Indexed: 04/14/2024]
Abstract
We perform for the first time an amplitude analysis of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η and report the observation of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. As the only W-annihilation-free decay among D to a_{0}(980) pseudoscalar, D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} is the ideal decay in extracting the contributions of the W-emission amplitudes involving a_{0}(980) and to study the final-state interactions. The absolute branching fraction of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η is measured to be (1.27±0.04_{stat}±0.03_{syst})%. The branching fractions of intermediate processes D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} with a_{0}(980)^{+}→π^{+}η and D^{+}→π^{+}K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0} with K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0}→K_{S}^{0}η are measured to be (1.33±0.05_{stat}±0.04_{syst})% and (0.14±0.03_{stat}±0.01_{syst})%, respectively.

Measurements of All-Particle Energy Spectrum and Mean Logarithmic Mass of Cosmic Rays from 0.3 to 30 PeV with LHAASO-KM2A. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131002. Abstract
We present the measurements of all-particle energy spectrum and mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays in the energy range of 0.3-30 PeV using data collected from LHAASO-KM2A between September 2021 and December 2022, which is based on a nearly composition-independent energy reconstruction method, achieving unprecedented accuracy. Our analysis reveals the position of the knee at 3.67±0.05±0.15 PeV. Below the knee, the spectral index is found to be -2.7413±0.0004±0.0050, while above the knee, it is -3.128±0.005±0.027, with the sharpness of the transition measured with a statistical error of 2%. The mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays is almost heavier than helium in the whole measured energy range. It decreases from 1.7 at 0.3 PeV to 1.3 at 3 PeV, representing a 24% decline following a power law with an index of -0.1200±0.0003±0.0341. This is equivalent to an increase in abundance of light components. Above the knee, the mean logarithmic mass exhibits a power law trend towards heavier components, which is reversal to the behavior observed in the all-particle energy spectrum. Additionally, the knee position and the change in power-law index are approximately the same. These findings suggest that the knee observed in the all-particle spectrum corresponds to the knee of the light component, rather than the medium-heavy components.

Abstract
Cryptosporidium is an important intestinal parasite that is mainly transmitted through the fecal-oral route. Human infection may occur following ingestion of water and food contaminated by Cryptosporidium oocysts, and children and immunocompromised individuals are at a high risk of infections. The main symptoms of Cryptosporidium infections include diarrhea, vomiting, malnutrition, and even death. Because of high sensitivity and rapid procedures, molecular tests are helpful for the diagnosis of cryptosporidiosis and may reduce the public health risk of cryptosporidiosis. This review summarizes the advances in the latest prevalence and molecular detection of human Cryptosporidium infections during recent years.

[The association between baseline TPOAb and/or TgAb positivity and thyroid immune-related adverse events in patients with malignancies following treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors]. ZHONGHUA YI XUE ZA ZHI 2024; 104:963-969. Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association between positive anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) and/or anti-thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) and the occurrence of thyroid immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in patients with malignant tumors who treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Methods: A case-control study. A total of 116 patients with malignant tumor who received ICIs treatment and underwent thyroid function evaluation at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2017 to April 2023 were enrolled retrospectively, including 77 males and 39 females, with a median age of (M(Q1, Q3)) 63.0 (55.0, 70.0) years. The patients were divided into the euthyroid group (n=58) and the thyroid irAEs group (n=58) according to whether thyroid irAEs occurred after ICIs treatment. The clinical characteristics and baseline anti-thyroid antibodies associated with the occurrence of thyroid irAEs after ICIs treatment in patients with malignant tumors were evaluated. Variables with statistical significance in univariate analysis were included in multivariate logistic regression model to analyze the risk factors for thyroid irAEs in patients with malignant tumors who received ICIs treatment. Results: In irAEs group, therewore 4 (3.4%) cases of clinical thyrotoxicosis, 23(19.8%) cases of subclinical thyrotoxicosis, 23 (19.8%) cases of clinical hypothyroidism, and 8(6.9%) cases of subclinical hypothyroidism. The positive rate of anti-thyroid antibodies at baseline in the thyrioid irAEs group was higher than that in the euthyroid group[16/58(27.6%)vs 3/58(5.2%),P=0.001]. After at least one course of ICIs treatment, the incidence of thyroid irAEs in patients with positive anti-thyroid antibodies at baseline was 84.2% (16/19), whereas it was 43.3% (42/97) in patients with negative anti-thyroid antibodies(P=0.001). Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender (OR=2.812, 95%CI:1.257-6.293), baseline thyroid autoantibodies were positive (OR=6.984, 95%CI: 1.909-25.547), baseline TgAb positivity (OR=8.909, 95%CI: 1.923-41.280), and baseline TPOAb positivity (OR=7.304, 95%CI: 1.555-34.308) were associated with thyroid irAEs (all P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that baseline TgAb positivity (OR=7.637, 95%CI: 1.617-36.072) was a risk factor for thyroid irAEs (P=0.01). Conclusions: The incidence of thyroid irAEs is higher in patients who are positive for baseline TPOAb and/or TgAb compared to those who are negative for TPOAb and TgAb. Patients with positive TgAb at baseline are at high risk of developing thyroid irAEs.

Abstract
The pest management of Plutella xylostella, the global pest of cruciferous plants, is primarily dependent upon continued applications of insecticides, which has led to severe insecticide resistance and a series of ecological concerns. The essential oils (EOs) of non-host plants are considered to have a high application potential in pest behavioral control. In P. xylostella, the insecticidal properties, antifeeding activities, and oviposition inhibition effects of many EOs have been studied in larvae and female moths. However, less focus has been placed on the inhibitory effect on sex pheromone communication during courtship, which is vital for the reproduction of the offspring. In this study, by combining electrophysiological studies, laboratory behavioral assays, and field traps, we demonstrated that non-host plant EOs significantly inhibited the reproductive behaviors of both sexes. Notably, the calamus (Acorus gramineus) EO inhibited the preference of male moths for synthetic sex pheromone blends and reduced the egg-laying number of female moths on host plants, with the highest inhibition rates of 72% and 100%, respectively, suggesting a great application prospect of calamus and its EO on the behavioral control strategies of P. xylostella.

Abstract
Background Sarcoma is a highly heterogeneous malignancy with a poor prognosis. Although chemotherapy and targeted therapy have improved the prognosis to some extent, the efficacy remains unsatisfactory in some patients. The efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in sarcoma need further evaluation. Methods We conducted a two-center study of sarcoma patients receiving PD-1 immunotherapy at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital and Henan Provincial Cancer Hospital. The treatment regimens included PD-1 inhibitor monotherapy and combination therapy based on PD-1 inhibitors. The observed primary endpoints were median progression-free survival (mPFS) and median overall survival (mOS). Survival curves were compared using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results A total of 43 patients were included from the two centers. The median follow-up time for all patients was 13 months (range, 1-48 months). In the group of 37 patients with advanced or unresectable sarcoma, the mPFS was 6 months (95%CI: 5-12 months), and the mOS was 16 months (95%CI: 10-28 months). The ORR was 10.8% (4/37), and the DCR was 18.9% (7/37). Subgroup analysis showed no significant differences in mPFS (p=0.11) and mOS (p=0.88) between patients with PD-L1 negative/positive expression. There were also no significant differences in mPFS (p=0.13) or mOS (p=0.72) between PD-1 inhibitor monotherapy and combination therapy. Additionally, there were no significant differences in mPFS (p=0.52) or mOS (p=0.49) between osteogenic sarcoma and soft tissue sarcoma. Furthermore, the results showed no significant differences in mPFS (p=0.66) or mOS (p=0.96) between PD-1 inhibitors combined with targeted therapy and PD-1 inhibitors combined with AI chemotherapy. Among the 6 patients receiving adjuvant therapy after surgery, the mPFS was 15 months (95%CI: 6-NA months), and the mOS was not reached. In terms of safety, most adverse events were mild (grade 1-2) and manageable. The most severe grade 4 adverse events were bone marrow suppression, which occurred in 4 patients but resolved after treatment. There was also one case of a grade 4 adverse event related to hypertension. Conclusion Immunotherapy is an effective treatment modality for sarcoma with manageable safety. Further inclusion of more patients or prospective clinical trials is needed to validate these findings.

Abstract
Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) is a disease extremely harmful to pig health. Intramuscular and Houhai acupoint injections are the main immunization routes to prevent and control PED. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of these two routes in pregnant sows based on serum IgG, IgA, and neutralizing antibody levels. PED virus (PEDV) immunoprophylaxis with live-attenuated and inactivated vaccines was administered. The vaccinations for the intramuscular injections elevated IgG and neutralizing antibody levels more than Houhai acupoint injections at most timepoints after immunization. However, the anti-PEDV IgA antibodies induced by vaccination with the two immunization routes did not differ significantly. In conclusion, intramuscular injections are better than Houhai acupoint injections for PEDV vaccination of pregnant sows.

Solubilization strategy of myofibrillar proteins in low-ionic media (prototype soup): The effect of high-intensity ultrasound combined with non-covalent or covalent modification of polyphenols on myosin molecular assembly. Abstract
This study investigated the effect of (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) non-covalent/covalent grafting onto myofibrillar protein (MP) by high-intensity ultrasound (HIU) on its water-solubility and filament forming behavior. The results showed that the introduction of EGCG, especially in the case of covalent grafting, could inhibit the molecular assembly of myosin and improve the MP water solubility from 2.7% to 53.1% (P < 0.05). The HIU pretreatment provided more opportunities for EGCG grafting onto the ultrasound-treated protein (UMP) by disrupting the filamentous polymerization of myosin and thus further facilitated MP dissolution. Additionally, compared with the UMP-EGCG non-covalent complexes, the covalent complexes with a yellow appearance exhibited a higher absolute zeta potential (35.9 mV) and a lower particle size (53.7 μm) (P < 0.05). Overall, the combination of HIU pretreatment and EGCG covalent modification may provide a promising method for improving the solubility and processing properties of MP in low ionic media (prototype soup).

Abstract
The in-vitro digestive properties of myofibrillar protein (MP) in mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) after freeze-thaw (F-T) cycles were analyzed in terms of the relationship between protein degradation, oxidation, and structural properties. The F-T samples exhibited a significant increase in glucosidase activity, N-acetyl-β-d-glucosidase activity, total protease activity, and non-protein nitrogen content. α-aminoadipate semialdehyde and γ-glutamate semialdehyde contents increased by 23.17% and 123.12%, respectively. Furthermore, 53.97% decrease in the total nitrogen content and changes in the content of different soluble proteins were observed. X-ray diffraction intensity, thermal stability, free amine content, hydrolysis degree, and digestibility of the MP samples decreased, and the 2θ angle and zeta potential were reversed. Besides, changes in the amide band wavenumbers were also detected. Therefore, the protein structure was unfolded and aggregates were formed through degradation and oxidation induced by the F-T cycles, ultimately making the in-vitro digestion of MP difficult.

Abstract
Myelodysplastic syndromes is a heterogeneous group of myeloid neoplastic disorders originating from hematopoietic stem cells and manifesting as pathological bone marrow hematopoiesis and a high risk of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia. In low-risk patients, the therapeutic goal is to improve hematopoiesis and quality of life. Roxadustat is the world's first oral small-molecule hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor, which, unlike conventional erythropoietin, corrects anemia through various mechanisms. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the changes in anemia, iron metabolism, lipids and inflammatory indexes in patients with low-risk myelodysplastic syndromes to evaluate its therapeutic efficacy and safety, and to provide theoretical and practical data for the application of roxadustat in myelodysplastic syndromes.

Abstract
Using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ^{-} and Λ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ^{-}Ξ[over ¯]^{+}→Λ(pπ^{-})π^{-}Λ[over ¯](n[over ¯]π^{0})π^{+} and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α_{Λ0} for Λ→nπ^{0} and α[over ¯]_{Λ0} for Λ[over ¯]→n[over ¯]π^{0} compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ^{0} to that of Λ→pπ^{-}, ⟨α_{Λ0}⟩/⟨α_{Λ-}⟩, is determined to be 0.873±0.012_{-0.010}^{+0.011}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2 transition in Λ for the first time. Besides, we test for CP symmetry in Ξ^{-}→Λπ^{-} and in Λ→nπ^{0} with the best precision to date.

Zhao S, Zhao Y, Liu H, Chen Q, Sun H, Kong B. Combined effects of high-intensity ultrasound treatment and hydrogen peroxide addition on the thermal stabilities of myofibrillar protein emulsions at low ionic strengths. ULTRASONICS SONOCHEMISTRY 2024; 104:106841. [PMID: 38442572 PMCID: PMC10924124 DOI: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2024.106841] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/26/2024] [Revised: 02/21/2024] [Accepted: 03/01/2024] [Indexed: 03/07/2024]
Abstract
In this study, the effects of high-intensity ultrasound (HIU) treatment combined with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) addition on the thermal stability of myofibrillar protein (MP)-stabilized emulsions in low-salt conditions were investigated. Results showed that compared to using either HIU or H2O2 treatment alone, HIU treatment combined with H2O2 was most effective in enhancing the physical stability of emulsions. Moreover, the emulsion stabilized by MPs co-treated with HIU and H2O2 exhibited the most uniform distribution, highest absolute zeta potential, and optimal rheological properties upon heating. This combination effect during heating was caused by the inhibition of disulfide bond cross-linking of myosin heads by H2O2 and the dissociation of filamentous myosin structures using the HIU treatment. In addition, the results of oxidative stability analysis indicated that the addition of H2O2 increased the content of oxidation products; however, the overall influence on the oxidative stability of emulsions was not significant. In conclusion, the combination of HIU and H2O2 treatment is a promising approach to suppress heat-induced MP aggregation and improve the thermal stability of corresponding emulsions.

Yin M, Li Y, Liu H. The first intron of EIJ1 confers a specific response to wounding and herbivore stresses. PLANT BIOLOGY (STUTTGART, GERMANY) 2024; 26:197-203. Abstract
Plants are constantly exposed to different kinds of biotic stress, such as herbivore attack and wounding. To deal with these stresses, plants have evolved sophisticated defence mechanisms to protect themselves. Previously, we found that EIJ1 (EDS1-interacting J protein 1) plays a negative regulatory role in plant disease resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana. Follow-up studies revealed that EIJ1 specifically responds to wounding and herbivore stresses. The expression of EIJ1 was specifically induced by wounding or herbivore stress, as demonstrated by similar results in EIJ1 protein assay. Interestingly, GUS staining found that the promoter of EIJ1 is not involved in the induction of expression under wounding stress. Instead, we identified the first intron of EIJ1 as a key factor in response to wounding stress. Deleting the first intron of EIJ1 resulted in a loss of response to wounding stress in plants. Our results broaden the role of EIJ1 in plant resistance to biotic stress and provide new insights into plant responses to biotic stress.
