Abstract
Peste des petis ruminants (PPR) is an acute, highly contagious fatal disease affecting both domestic and wild small ruminants, caused by Morbillivirus caprinae (also known as peste des petis ruminants virus (PPRV)). Herein, a rapid method based on recombinase aided amplification-clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-Cas12a (RAA-CRISPR Cas12a) to detect PPRV was developed. CRISPR RNAs and RAA primers for PPRV-N (nucleocapsid) and PPRV-M (matrix) fragments were designed. The reaction system was constructed following screening and optimization. Detection could be completed within in 50 minutes at 37°C. Detection of gradient dilutions of plasmids carrying of PPRV N and M gene fragments indicated a minimum limit of detection of 10 copies/μL. There were no cross-reactions with related viruses and all tested lineages of PPRV were detected successfully. The method also showed good repeatability. The detection of clinical samples (previously detected using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)) indicated good consistency between the RAA-CRISPR Cas12a method and RT-PCR. Thus, the RAA-CRISPR Cas12a method for rapid PPRV diagnosis has strong specificity, high sensitivity, and stable repeatability. Moreover, the results can be observed visually under blue or UV light or using lateral flow strips without complex instruments.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Lifestyle habits after middle age significantly impact the maintenance of cognitive function in older adults. Nutritional intake is closely related to lifestyle habits; therefore, nutrition is a pivotal factor in the prevention of dementia in the preclinical stages. Matcha green tea powder (matcha), which contains epigallocatechin gallate, theanine, and caffeine, has beneficial effects on cognitive function and mood. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study over 12 months to examine the effect of matcha on cognitive function and sleep quality. METHODS Ninety-nine participants, including 64 with subjective cognitive decline and 35 with mild cognitive impairment were randomized, with 49 receiving 2 g of matcha and 50 receiving a placebo daily. Participants were stratified based on two factors: age at baseline and APOE genotype. Changes in cognitive function and sleep quality were analyzed using a mixed-effects model. RESULTS Matcha consumption led to significant improvements in social acuity score (difference; -1.39, 95% confidence interval; -2.78, 0.002) (P = 0.028) as evaluated by the perception of facial emotions in cognitive function. The primary outcomes, that is, Montreal Cognitive Assessment and Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study Activity of Daily Living scores, showed no significant changes with matcha intervention. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores indicated a trend toward improvement with a difference of 0.86 (95% confidence interval; -0.002, 1.71) (P = 0.088) between the groups in changes from baseline to 12 months. CONCLUSIONS The present study suggests regular consumption of matcha could improve emotional perception and sleep quality in older adults with mild cognitive decline. Given the widespread availability and cultural acceptance of matcha green tea, incorporating it into the daily routine may offer a simple yet effective strategy for cognitive enhancement and dementia prevention.

Abstract
Dynamic colored meshes (DCM) are widely used in various applications. However, this kind of meshes may undergo different processes, such as compression or transmission, which can distort them and degrade their quality. To facilitate the development of objective metrics for DCMs and study the influence of typical distortions on their perception, we create the Tencent - Dynamic colored Mesh Database (TDMD) containing eight reference DCM objects with six typical distortions. Using processed video sequences (PVS) derived from the DCM, we conduct a large-scale subjective experiment that resulted in 303 distorted DCM samples with mean opinion scores, making the TDMD the largest available DCM database to our knowledge. This database enables us to study the impact of different types of distortion on human perception and offers recommendations for DCM compression and related tasks. Additionally, we have evaluated three types of state-of-the-art objective metrics on the TDMD, including image-based, point-based, and video-based metrics, on the TDMD. Our experimental results highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each metric, and we provide suggestions about the selection of metrics in practical DCM applications. Abstract
Recent research has underscored the significance of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in various cancers, including neuroblastoma (NB). Specifically, circ-SHPRH, a unique circRNA, has been revealed to inhibit tumor growth by sequestering miRNAs or producing the SHPRH-146aa protein. To explore circ-SHPRH's involvement in NB and its potential application in gene therapy, this study examined circ-SHPRH expression in 94 NB tissues and cell lines (SK-N-BE(2), SH-SY5Y) using real-time PCR and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Functional assays encompassing both overexpression and knockdown experiments in NB cell lines, as well as in vivo investigations, were conducted. RNA-seq analysis revealed a correlation between circ-SHPRH and the pathway of P21 (CDKN1A), a pivotal cell cycle regulator. Validation through PCR and other techniques confirmed that circ-SHPRH upregulated P21 expression. Furthermore, the regulatory role of circ-SHPRH in the P21-CDK pathway was corroborated through SHPRH-146aa expression analysis. Notably, adenovirus-mediated circ-SHPRH overexpression effectively curbed NB tumor growth in NSG mice, while combining circ-SHPRH with everolimus exhibited potential for NB treatment. This study elucidates the remarkable significance of circ-SHPRH in NB and its prospective utility in gene therapy, thereby paving the way for innovative therapeutic approaches.

Abstract
Background Thoracic Aortic Dissection (TAD) is a life-threatening disease without effective drug treatments. The disruption of HASMCs homeostasis is one direct histopathologic alteration in TAD pathological process. Several miRNAs have been shown abnormally expressed in TAD and to regulate HASMCs homeostasis. The primary goal of this study is to identify the miRNAs and the specific mechanisms that lead to HASMCs homeostasis disruption. Methods Bulk miRNA sequencing was performed to explore the aberrantly expressed miRNA profile in TAD, and differentially expressed miRNAs were verified with qRT-PCR. To explore the role of the key miRNAs (miR-3529) in HASMCs homeostasis, we overexpressed this miRNA with lentivirus in HASMCs. Integrative transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis were used to uncover the functional roles of this miRNA in regulating HASMCs homeostasis. Further, the target gene of miR-3529 was predicted by bioinformatics and verified through a dual-luciferase reporter assay. Results Bulk miRNA sequencing showed miR-3529 was elevated in TAD tissues and confirmed by qRT-PCR. Further experimental assay revealed miR-3529 upregulation induced HASMCs homeostasis disruption, accompanied by reducing contractile markers and increasing pro-inflammatory cytokines. Integrative transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis showed that miR-3529 overexpression altered the metabolic profile of HASMC, particularly lipid metabolism. ABCA1 was found to be a direct target of miR-3529. Mechanistically, the miR-3529/ABCA1 axis disrupted HASMCs homeostasis through the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Conclusions miR-3529 is elevated in TAD patients and disrupts HASMCs homeostasis by reprogramming metabolism through the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. These findings favor a role for miR-3529 as a novel target for TAD therapy.

Abstract
Introduction Glenohumeral subluxation (GHS) is a common complication in stroke patients with hemiplegia, occurring in approximately 17-81% of cases. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between shoulder muscle thickness and the degree of subluxation using ultrasound imaging. Methods A cross-sectional study of 61 stroke patients with hemiplegia was conducted, measuring supraspinatus muscle thickness, deltoid muscle thickness, and acromion-greater tuberosity (AGT). Logistic regression and ROC analyses were used. ROC curves, calibration plots, and decision curves were drawn on the training and validation sets. Results According to logistic regression analysis, the ratio of supraspinatus muscle thickness was statistically significant (OR: 0.80; 95% CI: 0.70-0.92; p < 0.01), and it was an independent factor for evaluating the presence or absence of GHS. An AUC of 0.906 (95% CI, 0.802-1.000) was found in the training set; meanwhile, the AUC in the validation set was 0.857 (95% CI, 0.669-1.000), indicating good performance. According to the training set ROC curve, the most effective statistical threshold was 93%, with a sensitivity of 84% and a specificity of 96%. Discussion The ratio of supraspinatus muscle thickness is a valuable criterion for evaluating GHS risk, supporting targeted rehabilitation interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Injuries are a leading cause of death in the United States. Trauma systems aim to ensure all injured patients receive appropriate care. Hospitals that participate in a trauma system, trauma centers (TCs), are designated with different levels according to guidelines that dictate access to medical and research resources but not specific surgical care. This study aimed to identify patterns of injury care that distinguish different TCs and hospitals without trauma designation, non-trauma centers (non-TCs). STUDY DESIGN We extracted hospital-level features from the state inpatient hospital discharge data in Washington state, including all TCs and non-TCs, in 2016. We provided summary statistics and tested the differences of each feature across the TC/non-TC levels. We then conducted 3 sets of unsupervised clustering analyses using the Partition Around Medoids method to determine which hospitals had similar features. Set 1 and 2 included hospital surgical care (volume or distribution) features and other features (e.g., the average age of patients, payer mix, etc.). Set 3 explored surgical care without additional features. RESULTS The clusters only partially aligned with the TC designations. Set 1 found the volume and variation of surgical care distinguished the hospitals, while in Set 2 orthopedic procedures and other features such as age, social vulnerability indices, and payer types drove the clusters. Set 3 results showed that procedure volume rather than the relative proportions of procedures aligned more, though not completely, with TC designation. CONCLUSION Unsupervised machine learning identified surgical care delivery patterns that explained variation beyond level designation. This research provides insights into how systems leaders could optimize the level allocation for TCs/non-TCs in a mature trauma system by better understanding the distribution of care in the system.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the mechanism by which swertiamarin (STM) ameliorates CD-like colitis in mice. METHODS A Caco-2 cell model of TNF-α-stimulated apoptosis was established and divided into three groups: Con, TNF-α and STM, and the effects of STM on apoptosis and barrier function were assessed by Tunel staining, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and transepithelial electric resistance (TEER). A mouse model of 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) -induced CD-like colitis was established to assess the effects of STM on colitis, intestinal barrier function and epithelial cell apoptosis. The regulatory role of the PI3K/AKT pathway in STM-induced resistance to intestinal epithelial cell apoptosis was investigated in both the cell model and mouse models. RESULTS TUNEL staining showed that in Caco-2 cells with TNF-α stimulation, STM treatment significantly reduced the percentage of TUNEL-stained cells (P<0.05). STM obviously reduced TNF-α-induced enhancement of cleaved-caspase 3 and Bax expressions (P<0.05), increased Bcl-2 expression (P<0.05), protected intestinal barrier integrity and function by restoring transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) of the cells, promoted normal localization and expressions of the tight junction proteins (ZO1 and claudin 1) (P<0.05), and inhibited the expression of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-6 and CCL3) (P<0.05) in TNF-α-stimulated Caco-2 cells. In the mouse models, STM significantly alleviated TNBS-induced CD-like colitis and intestinal barrier dysfunction (P<0.05) as shown by improved weight loss, lowered Disease Activity Index (DAI) score and inflammation score, reduction of IL-6 and CCL3 release, and restoration of intestinal barrier permeability, colonic TEER, bacterial translocation, and localization and expressions of the tight junction proteins. Mechanistically, STM inhibited the expressions of p-PI3K and p-AKT in both the cell model and mouse model(P<0.05), and treatment with 740Y-P (a PI3K/AKT pathway activator) significantly attenuated the inhibitory effect of STM on TNF-α-induced apoptosis in Caco-2 cells (P<0.05). CONCLUSION STM inhibits intestinal epithelial cell apoptosis at least in part by suppressing activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway to ameliorate intestinal barrier dysfunction and colitis in mice.

Abstract
Nonlinear photonic crystals with a helical structure in the second-order nonlinear coefficient (χ(2)) are fabricated using infrared femtosecond laser poling in ferroelectric Sr0.61Ba0.39Nb2O6 crystals. The quasi-orbital angular momentum of the helical χ(2) structure can be imprinted on the interacting photons during nonlinear optical processes, allowing the topological charge of the generated photons at new frequencies to be controlled. Here we study the case of a double-helix nonlinear photonic structure for the generation of a second-harmonic vortex beam from a Gaussian pump beam without phase singularity. The conservation law for orbital angular momentum in the second-harmonic process is also verified, with the topological charge of the pump photons being fully compensated by the double-helix structure. The flexible control of light carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) at new frequencies will find important applications in both classical and quantum photonics, such as nonlinear wavefront shaping and multidimensional entanglement of photons.

Abstract
Heart failure (HF) is an increasingly prevalent disease in humans; it induces multiple symptoms and damages health. The animal gut microbiota has critical roles in host health, which might be related to HF symptoms. Currently, several options are used to treat HF, including non-invasive ventilation (NIV). However, studies on gut microbiota responses to acute HF and associated treatments effects on gut communities in patients are scarce. Here, short-term (1 week after treatments) and long-term (3 months after treatment) variations in gut microbiota variations in rats with acute HF treated were examined NIV through high-throughput sequencing of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene. Through comparison of gut microbiota alpha diversity, it was observed lower gut microbiota richness and diversity in animals with acute HF than in normal animals. Additionally, beta-diversity analysis revealed significant alterations in the gut microbiota composition induced by acute HF, as reflected by increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratios and Proteobacteria enrichment. When network analysis results were combined with the null model, decreased stability and elevated deterministic gut microbiota assemblies were observed in animals with acute HF. Importantly, in both short- and long-term periods, NIV was found to restore gut microbiota dysbiosis to normal states in acute HF rats. Finally, it was shown that considerable gut microbiota variations existed in rats with acute HF, that underlying microbiota mechanisms regulated these changes, and confirmed that NIV is suitable for HF treatment. In future studies, these findings should be validated with different model systems or clinical samples.

Abstract
The artificial light at night (ALAN) exposure has emerged as a significant environmental and public health concern globally. However, there is far less evidence on the health effects of indoor ALAN than on outdoor ALAN. Moreover, evidence on cardiovascular effects of indoor ALAN is more limited. To evaluate the association between short-term exposure to ALAN during sleep with heart rate variability (HRV) in young healthy adults, as well as the mediating role of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), and to further explore the intervention effects of shading habits, this prospective repeated measurement study was conducted among 81 adults with 150 nights (1324h) of HRV monitoring. HRV and SpO2 were monitored during sleep, concurrently with the measurement of indoor and outdoor ALAN. Shading habits were defined as whether to wear blindfolds or draw bed curtains during sleep, and were collected by questionnaires. Linear mixed-effect model was conducted to assess the association between ALAN exposure and HRV indices. The role of SpO2 in the association was analyzed using mediation analyses. We found that indoor ALAN exposure reduced parasympathetic activity and imbalanced cardiac autonomic function. We also found that the use of outdoor ALAN may underestimate or misestimate the potential health effects of ALAN. A significant mediation effects were observed on standard deviation of normal-to-normal intervals (SDNN; p-value for ACME = 0.014) and the ratio of low frequency power to high frequency power (LF/HF; p-value for ACME = 0.026) through minimum SpO2 after indoor ALAN exposure. The association between indoor ALAN and HRV was more pronounced among participants without shading habits during sleep. This study provides general population-based evidence that short-term exposure to indoor ALAN was significantly associated with impaired HRV, and SpO2 partially mediated the association. Improve shading habits during sleep may mitigate the adverse effects of indoor ALAN.

Abstract
Checkpoint blockades have emerged as a frontline approach in cancer management, designed to enhance the adaptive immune response against tumors. However, its clinical efficacy is limited to a narrow range of tumor types, which necessitates the exploration of novel strategies that target another main branch of the immune system. One such potential strategy is the therapeutic modulation of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) pathways in innate immune cells, which have shown promise in tumor eradication. Previously, a β-1,3/1,6-glucan with high purity from Durvillaea antarctica (BG136) was reported by our group to exhibit pan-antitumor effects. In the current study, we systemically studied the antitumor activity of BG136 in combination with anti-PD1 antibody in MC38 syngeneic tumor model in vivo. Integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses suggested that BG136 enhanced the antitumor immunity of anti-PD1 antibody by reprogramming the tumor microenvironment to become more proinflammatory. In addition, an increase in innate and adaptive immune cell infiltration and activation, enhanced lipid metabolism, and a decrease in ascorbate and aldarate metabolism were also found. These findings provide mechanistic insights that support the potent antitumor efficacy of BG136 when combined with immune checkpoint inhibitor antibodies.

Abstract
High-fat diet-induced metabolic syndrome (MetS) is closely associated with cardiac dysfunction. Recent research studies have indicated a potential association between MetS and ferroptosis. Furthermore, metformin can alleviate MetS-induced cardiac ferroptosis. Metformin is a classic biguanide anti-diabetic drug that has protective effects on cardiovascular diseases, which extend beyond its indirect glycemic control. This study aimed to assess whether MetS mediates cardiac ferroptosis, thereby causing oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. The results revealed that metformin can mitigate cardiac reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial damage, thereby preserving cardiac function. Mechanistic analysis revealed that metformin upregulates the expression of cardiac Nrf2. Moreover, Nrf2 downregulation compromises the cardio-protective effects of metformin. In summary, this study indicated that MetS promotes cardiac ferroptosis, and metformin plays a preventive and therapeutic role, partially through modulation of Nrf2 expression.

Abstract
Autophagy is a biological phenomenon whereby components of cells can self-degrade using autophagosomes. During this process, cells can clear dysfunctional organelles or unwanted elements. Autophagy can recycle unnecessary biomolecules into new components or sometimes, even destroy the cells themselves. This cellular process was first observed in 1962 by Keith R. Porter et al. Since then, autophagy has been studied for over 60 years, and much has been learned on the topic. Nevertheless, the process is still not fully understood. It has been proven, for example, that autophagy can be a positive force for maintaining good health by removing older or damaged cells. By contrast, autophagy is also involved in the onset and progression of various conditions caused by pathogenic infections. These diseases generally involve several important organs in the human body, including the liver, kidney, heart, and central nervous system. The regulation of the defects of autophagy defects may potentially be used to treat some diseases. This review comprehensively discusses recent research frontiers and topics of interest regarding autophagy-related diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radiomics has been used in the diagnosis of tumor lymph node metastasis (LNM). However, to date, most studies have been based on intratumoral radiomics. Few studies have focused on the use of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) peritumoral radiomics for the diagnosis of LNM in colorectal cancer (CRC). PURPOSE Determining the value of radiomics features extracted from 18F-FDG PET/CT images of the peritumoral region in predicting LNM in patients with CRC. METHODS The clinical data and preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT images of 244 CRC patients were retrospectively analyzed. Intratumoral and peritumoral radiomics features were screened using the mutual information method, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression. Based on the selected radiomics features, a radiomics score (Rad-score) was calculated, and independent risk factors obtained from univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to construct clinical and combined (Radiomics + Clinical) models. The performance of these models was evaluated using the DeLong test, while their clinical utility was assessed by decision curve analysis. Finally, a nomogram was constructed to visualize the predictive model. RESULTS The most optimal set of features retained by the feature filtering process were all peritumoral radiomic features. Carcinoembryonic antigen levels, PET/CT-reported lymph node status and Rad-score were found to be independent risk factors for LNM. All three LNM risk assessment models exhibited good predictive performance, with the combined model showing the best classification results, with areas under the curve of 0.85 and 0.76 in the training and validation groups, respectively. The DeLong test revealed that the performance of the combined model was superior to that of the clinical and radiomics models in both the training and validation groups, although this difference was only statistically significant in the training group. DCA indicated that the combined model displayed better clinical utility. CONCLUSIONS 18F-FDG PET/CT peritumoral radiomics is uniquely suited to predict the presence of LNM in patients with CRC. In particular, the predictive efficacy of LNM for precision therapy and individualized patient management can be improved by using a combination of clinical risk factors.

Abstract
Objectives Falls are common in adults aged 65 years and older and are the leading cause of traumatic brain injuries in this age group. Alcohol use may increase the risk of falls as well as the severity of resultant injuries. The aim of this study was to examine the association between self-reported alcohol use and the prevalence of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in this patient group. Methods This was a secondary analysis of the Geriatric Head Trauma Short Term Outcomes Project (GREAT STOP), a study of older adults with blunt head trauma from a fall. We determined the characteristics of every fall event, including patient demographics and medical history, and clinical signs and symptoms related to head trauma. Self-reported alcohol use was categorized as none, occasionally, weekly, or daily. We defined ICH as any acute ICH detected by computed tomography scan. We evaluated the association between alcohol use frequency and ICH, adjusted for patient factors and head injury risk factors. Results Of 3128 study participants, 18.2% (n = 567) reported alcohol use: 10.3% with occasional use, 1.9% with weekly use, and 6.0% with daily use. ICH was more common in patients who used alcohol (20.5%, 22.0%, and 25.1% for occasional, weekly, and daily alcohol users, respectively, vs. 12.0% for non-users, p < 0.001). The frequency of alcohol use was independently associated with ICH, adjusted for patient and head injury risk factors. The adjusted odds ratios (with 95% confidence intervals) for occasional, weekly, and daily alcohol users increased from 2.0 (1.5‒2.8) to 2.1 (1.1‒4.1) and 2.5 (1.7‒3.6), respectively, and showed the characteristics of dose‒response effect. Conclusions Alcohol use in older adult emergency department patients with head trauma is relatively common. Self-reported alcohol use appears to be associated with a higher risk of ICH in a dose-dependent fashion. Fall prevention strategies may need to consider alcohol mitigation as a modifiable risk factor.

Abstract
The role of the gut microbiota in host physiology has been previously elucidated for some marine organisms, but little information is available on their metabolic activity involved in transformation of environmental pollutants. This study assessed the metabolic profiles of the gut microbial cultures from grouper (Epinephelus coioides), green mussel (Perna viridis) and giant tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) and investigated their transformation mechanisms to typical plastic additives. Community-level physiological profiling analysis confirmed the utilization profiles of the microbial cultures including carbon sources of carbohydrates, amines, carboxylic acids, phenolic compounds, polymers and amino acids, and the plastic additives of organophosphate flame retardants, tetrabromobisphenol A derivates and bisphenols. Using in vitro incubation, triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) was found to be rapidly metabolized into diphenyl phosphate by the gut microbiota as a representative ester-containing plastic additive, whereas the transformation of BPA (a representative phenol) was relatively slower. Interestingly, all three kinds of microbial cultures efficiently transformed the hepatic metabolite of BPA (BPA-G) back to BPA, thereby increasing its bioavailability in the body. The specific enzyme analysis confirmed the ability of the gut microbiota to perform the metabolic reactions. The results of 16S rRNA sequencing and network analysis revealed that the genera Escherichia-Shigella, Citrobacter, and Anaerospora were functional microbes, and their collaboration with fermentative microbes played pivotal roles in the transformation of the plastic additives. The structure-specific transformations by the gut microbiota and their distinct bioavailability deserve more attention in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Asprosin was discovered as a new endocrine hormone originating from fibrillin-1 cleavage that plays a crucial role in various metabolic-related diseases, such as obesity, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of this review is to describe the recent advancements of asprosin. METHOD Narrative review. RESULT This comprehensive review explores its tissue-specific functions, focusing on white adipose tissue, liver, hypothalamus, testis, ovary, heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle, and kidney. CONCLUSION Asprosin is a multifaceted protein with tissue-specific roles in various physiological and pathological processes. Further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms and potential of asprosin as a therapeutic target. These insights could provide new directions for treatments targeting metabolic-related diseases.

Abstract
With the rapid development of 3D vision, point cloud has become an increasingly popular 3D visual media content. Due to the irregular structure, point cloud has posed novel challenges to the related research, such as compression, transmission, rendering and quality assessment. In these latest researches, point cloud quality assessment (PCQA) has attracted wide attention due to its significant role in guiding practical applications, especially in many cases where the reference point cloud is unavailable. However, current no-reference metrics which based on prevalent deep neural network have apparent disadvantages. For example, to adapt to the irregular structure of point cloud, they require preprocessing such as voxelization and projection that introduce extra distortions, and the applied grid-kernel networks, such as Convolutional Neural Networks, fail to extract effective distortion-related features. Besides, they rarely consider the various distortion patterns and the philosophy that PCQA should exhibit shift, scaling, and rotation invariance. In this paper, we propose a novel no-reference PCQA metric named the Graph convolutional PCQA network (GPA-Net). To extract effective features for PCQA, we propose a new graph convolution kernel, i.e., GPAConv, which attentively captures the perturbation of structure and texture. Then, we propose the multi-task framework consisting of one main task (quality regression) and two auxiliary tasks (distortion type and degree predictions). Finally, we propose a coordinate normalization module to stabilize the results of GPAConv under shift, scale and rotation transformations. Experimental results on two independent databases show that GPA-Net achieves the best performance compared to the state-of-the-art no-reference PCQA metrics, even better than some full-reference metrics in some cases.

Abstract
Two yeast strains were isolated from rotting wood samples collected on Qingyuan Mountain, Fujian Province, PR China. Phylogenetic analysis, based on the concatenated sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit rRNA gene, revealed that these two strains represent a novel species of the genus Cyberlindnera. The proposed name for this new species is Cyberlindnera qingyuanensis f.a., sp. nov. (holotype: GDMCC 2.300; ex-type: PYCC 9925) although the formation of ascospores was not observed. The novel species differs from its close relative Cyberlindnera galapagoensis by 7.7% sequence divergence (37 substitutions and seven indels) in the D1/D2 domain and 9.7% sequence divergence (42 substitutions and 34 indels) in the ITS region, respectively. Additionally, Cyb. qingyuanensis differs from its close relative Cyb. galapagoensis by its ability to grow in cellobiose, l-rhamnose, ribitol, galactitol, and dl-lactate, its growth at 37 °C, and its inability to ferment raffinose. The Mycobank number is MB 854693.

Abstract
Background The prognosis of patients with hepatoblastoma has been unsatisfactory. This study analyzed the effects of different treatment methods on cancer-specific survival (CSS) in children with hepatoblastoma. Method From 2000 to 2018, patients with hepatoblastoma were included in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. CSS was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Cox regression analysis assessed prognostic factors. The predictive models were validated using the concordance index (C-index), calibration curve and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Result Of the 785 included patients, 730 (93.0 %) underwent chemotherapy, 516 (65.7 %) underwent liver tumour resection and 129 (16.4 %) underwent liver transplantation. Both chemotherapy and surgery could significantly improve the CSS rate (all p < 0.001). However, there was no difference in CSS rate between the two surgical methods (liver tumour resection and liver transplantation) (p = 0.613). Further subgroup analysis revealed that children who underwent liver tumour resection or liver transplantation based on chemotherapy (all p > 0.05) had a similar prognosis. Multivariate analysis revealed that age (p = 0.003), race (p = 0.001), operative method (p < 0.001), chemotherapy (p < 0.001), distant metastasis (p < 0.001) and tumour size (p < 0.001) were independent factors related to CSS. The C-index of the new nomogram was 0.759, and its consistency was good. The ROC curves verified that the nomogram had a better prediction ability for 1-, 3- and 5-year CSS rates. Conclusion In children with hepatoblastoma, there was no statistically significant difference in CSS between chemotherapy combined with liver transplantation and liver tumour resection. The nomogram we constructed demonstrated satisfactory CSS prediction ability.

Abstract
Background Numerous social and behavioral factors have been implicated in vaccination coverage. There is no single measure that describes a country's ability to improve or maintain its immunization coverage. Methods We estimated the "Vaccination Improvement Potential" (VIP) by taking the geometric mean of 13 different indicators on health financing, vaccine confidence, and socio-demographics for more than 200 countries across 30 years. Potential VIP Index values range from 0 to 1, with a higher score indicating greater potential to improve or maintain high vaccination rates. Findings In 1990, the mean VIP score was 0.49 (range = 0.13 to 0.86). In 2019, the mean score was 0.59 (range = 0.25 to 0.84). Consistent high performers included countries in Western Europe and high-income North America and East Asia. Important differences in subcomponents of the index drove major trends including vaccine hesitancy in Western Europe and Asia as well as lower levels of per capita health spending and development assistance in sub-Saharan Africa. Interpretation The VIP Index is a first-of-its-kind tool for understanding the capacity that exists in a country to realize improved immunization rates. It is a new resource that can guide researchers, policymakers, and health officials to more effectively deploy resources to realize improvements in vaccination coverage, assess the impact of those improvements, and identify countries that might require additional support to improve vaccine coverage. Abstract
PURPOSE Emergency resuscitative thoracotomy (ERT) is a final salvage procedure for critically injured trauma patients. Given its low success rate and ambiguous indications, its use in blunt trauma scenarios remains highly debated. Consequently, our study seeks to ascertain the overall survival rate of ERT in blunt trauma patients and determine which patients would benefit most from this procedure. METHODS A retrospective case-control study was conducted for this research. Blunt trauma patients who underwent ERT between January 2020 and December 2023 in our trauma center were selected for analysis, with the endpoint outcome being in-hospital survival, divided into survival and non-survival groups. Inter-group comparisons were conducted using Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests, the Kruskal-Wallis test, Student's t-test, or the Mann-Whitney U test. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to assess potential predictors of survival. Then, the efficacy of the predictors was assessed through sensitivity and specificity analysis. RESULTS A total of 33 patients were included in the study, with 4 survivors (12.12%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated a significant association between cardiac tamponade and survival, with an adjusted odds ratio of 33.4 (95% CI: 1.31 - 850, p = 0.034). Additionally, an analysis of sensitivity and specificity, targeting cardiac tamponade as an indicator for survivor identification, showed a sensitivity rate of 75.0% and a specificity rate of 96.6%. CONCLUSION The survival rate among blunt trauma patients undergoing ERT exceeds traditional expectations, suggesting that select individuals with blunt trauma can significantly benefit from the procedure. Notably, those presenting with cardiac tamponade are identified as the subgroup most likely to derive substantial benefits from ERT.

Abstract
Older people living with frailty are frequent users of emergency care and have multiple and complex problems. Typical evidence-based guidelines and protocols provide guidance for the management of single and simple acute issues. Meanwhile, person-centred care orientates interventions around the perspectives of the individual. Using a case vignette, we illustrate the potential pitfalls of applying exclusively either evidence-based or person-centred care in isolation, as this may trigger inappropriate clinical processes or place undue onus on patients and families. We instead advocate for delivering a combined evidence-based, person-centred approach to healthcare which considers the person's situation and values, apparent problem and available options.

Abstract
In April 2024, the World Health Organization/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) published the global cancer statistics 2022 in the CA: Cancer Journal for Clinicians. This report focuses on the incidence and mortality of 36 cancers in 185 countries or territories worldwide, analyzing the differences of gender, geographic region, and the Human Development Index (HDI) level. It is estimated that in the year 2022, there were 19.96 million new cancer cases and 9.74 million cancer deaths worldwide. Lung cancer (2 480 301, 12.4%) was the most frequently diagnosed cancer in 2022, followed by female breast cancer (2 295 686, 11.5%), colorectal cancer (1 926 118, 9.6%), prostate cancer (1 466 680, 7.3%), and gastric cancer (968 350, 4.9%). Lung cancer (1 817 172, 18.7%) was also the leading cause of cancer death, followed by colorectal cancer (903 859, 9.3%), liver cancer (757 948, 7.8%), female breast cancer (665 684, 6.9%), and gastric cancer (659 853, 6.8%). With demographics-based predictions indicating that the number of new cases of cancer will reach over 35 million by 2050. The Beijing Office for Cancer Prevention and Control team has collated this report and briefly interpreted it in combination with the current situation of cancer incidence and mortality in China.
