Abstract
Both live attenuated (HA-L) and inactivated (HA-I) hepatitis A vaccine were licensed for routine use in China. Although phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical studies of both vaccines have been completed, further systematic evaluation of their immunogenicity and immunological persistence under phase 4 clinical studies in a wide range of conditions and involving large populations is necessary. A phase IV clinical trial (NCT02601040) was performed in 9000 participants over 18 months of age. Geometric mean concentrations (GMCs) and seroconversion rates (SRs) were compared at five time points during 3 years for 1800 individuals among them. The SRs of HA-L and HA-I were 98.08% (95% CI 95.59%-99.38%) and 99.64% (95% CI 98.93%-100.00%) respectively 28 days after administration of the first dose, and remained at 97.07% (95% CI 94.31%-98.73%) or above and 96.73% (95% CI 94.07%-98.42%) or above respectively during the following 3 years. The GMCs for both the HA-L and HA-I groups showed that both vaccines elicited high anti-HAV titres, considerably more than the threshold of protection needed against HAV infection in humans, and these titres were sustained. Hence, both HA-I and HA-L vaccines could provide an excellent long-term protective effect, and supported the routine use of both vaccines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Many studies have shown increased risk of stroke with greater adiposity as measured by body mass index (BMI), but questions remain about the shape of the dose-response relation. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective studies to clarify the strength and shape of the dose-response relation between BMI and risk of stroke. METHODS AND RESULTS PubMed and Embase databases were searched for articles published up to May 11, 2018. Random-effects generalized least-squares regression models were used to estimate study-specific dose-response association, and restricted cubic splines were used to model the association. We included reports of 44 prospective cohort studies describing 102 466 incident cases among 4 432 475 participants. With a 5-unit increment in BMI, the summary relative risk for stroke incidence was 1.10 (95% confidence interval, 1.06 to 1.13; I2 = 88.0%). The dose-response relation was J-shaped (Pnon-linearity <0.001). The risk was not increased at the low BMI range (<24 kg/m2), but was increased within the high BMI range (>25 kg/m2). CONCLUSION Both overweight and obesity increase the risk of stroke with a J-shaped dose-response relation, and the nadir of the curve was observed at BMI 23-24 kg/m2.

Abstract
To detect syntaxin-binding protein 1 (STXBP1) mutations in Chinese patients with early onset epileptic encephalopathy (EOEE) of unknown etiology. Targeted next-generation sequencing was used to identify STXBP1 mutations in 143 Chinese patients with EOEE of unknown etiology. A filtering process was applied to prioritize rare variants of potential functional significance. Then Sanger sequencing was employed to validate the parental origin of the variants. Detailed clinical and genetic data were collected for 9 STXBP1-positive patients. Eight de novo heterozygous STXBP1 mutations were identified in 9 patients; 5 were novel mutations (c.1155delC, c.1030-1G>A, c.217G>C, c.268G>C, c.1480_1481 insT) and 3 were previously reported (c.1216C> T, c.1217G>A [2 cases], c.875G>A). Two patients had Ohtahara syndrome and 1 had West syndrome at onset, whereas the other 6 presented with EOEE that did not fit a specific recognized epilepsy syndrome. Six of these patients later evolved to West syndrome. All but 2 cases were prescribed more than 2 antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) plus other regimens. Four subjects showed good responses to levetiracetam (LEV) alone or in combination with other AEDs, and one case (1/3) achieved complete freedom from seizures with a ketogenic diet (KD). All patients exhibited severe to profound global developmental delay. Five novel heterozygous de novo STXBP1 mutations were discovered in patients with EOEE from China. STXBP1 mutational analysis should be performed in cases of EOEE of unknown etiology. LEV as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy with other regimens, as well as KD should be considered for management of this patient group.

Abstract
In this study, we report the influences of distilled water and ammonium fluoride (NH4F) on morphology of pores in honeycomb-like titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotube arrays. We observed the structure and arrangement of pores in the TiO2 nanotube arrays based on scanning electron microscopy images and analyzed the spatial distribution of the pores using fast Fourier transform and Voronoi diagram. We studied the individual pore properties including pore diameter, wall thickness, and interpore distance and found that locally connected ordering defects decreased with increasing distilled water concentration. Furthermore, we found that the optimum conditions of well-ordered hexagonal pore arrangement were 2 and 10 vol% distilled water with 0.2 and 0.4 wt% NH4F, respectively. Throughout this study, we provide a better understanding about the roles of distilled water and NH4F in forming well-ordered nanoscale pore structure with less ordering defects in the honeycomb-like TiO2 nanotube arrays.

Abstract
Polymeric binder distribution within electrodes is crucial to guarantee the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for their long-term use in applications such as electric vehicles and energy-storage systems. However, due to limited analytical tools, such analyses have not been conducted so far. Herein, the adhesion properties of LIB electrodes at different depths are measured using a surface and interfacial cutting analysis system (SAICAS). Moreover, two LiCoO2 electrodes, dried at 130 and 230 °C, are carefully prepared and used to obtain the adhesion properties at every 10 μm of depth as well as the interface between the electrode composite and the current collector. At high drying temperatures, more of the polymeric binder material and conductive agent appears adjacent to the electrode surface, resulting in different adhesion properties as a function of depth. When the electrochemical properties are evaluated at different temperatures, the LiCoO2 electrode dried at 130 °C shows a much better high-temperature cycling performance than does the electrode dried at 230 °C due to the uniform adhesion properties and the higher interfacial adhesion strength.

Abstract
Studies were conducted to evaluate the adequate time for exposure of donor nucleus to oocyte cytoplast before its activation and the effect of oocyte source on the development of SCNT embryos in camels. A higher number of embryos cleaved and developed to blastocyst stage (P < 0.05) when couplets were activated between 1 and 2 h-than that of those activated at 0.5 h or more than 2 h post-fusion. A reduced number of reconstructed embryos cleaved (55.2 ± 7.6%) and developed to the blastocyst stage (20.5 ± 5.5%) when in vitro matured oocytes collected from the slaughterhouse were used as donor cytoplasts, compared to in vitro (71.3 ± 1.3 and 36.7 ± 7.3%) or in vivo matured (91.7 ± 8.3 and 35.4 ± 6.0%) oocytes obtained from live animals (P < 0.05), respectively. However, no differences were observed between the different types of oocyte sources on the establishment of pregnancies and delivery of offspring's. In conclusion, couplets activated 1-2 h post-fusion had higher in vitro developmental potential and oocytes collected from live animals were better in supporting the cleavage and blastocyst production in vitro than oocytes collected from slaughterhouse ovaries, however, all sources of oocytes can be utilized as donor cytoplasts and have the potential to support development of full-term calves after transfer into synchronized recipients.

Abstract
Memristive devices are an emerging technology that enables both rich interdisciplinary science and novel device functionalities, such as nonvolatile memories and nanoionics-based synaptic electronics. Recent work has shown that the reproducibility and variability of the devices depend sensitively on the defect structures created during electroforming as well as their continued evolution under dynamic electric fields. However, a fundamental principle guiding the material design of defect structures is still lacking due to the difficulty in understanding dynamic defect behavior under different resistance states. Here, we unravel the existence of threshold behavior by studying model, single-crystal devices: resistive switching requires that the pristine oxygen vacancy concentration reside near a critical value. Theoretical calculations show that the threshold oxygen vacancy concentration lies at the boundary for both electronic and atomic phase transitions. Through operando, multimodal X-ray imaging, we show that field tuning of the local oxygen vacancy concentration below or above the threshold value is responsible for switching between different electrical states. These results provide a general strategy for designing functional defect structures around threshold concentrations to create dynamic, field-controlled phases for memristive devices.

Abstract
The Northern Hemisphere experienced dramatic changes during the last glacial, featuring vast ice sheets and abrupt climate events, while high northern latitudes during the last interglacial (Eemian) were warmer than today. Here we use high-resolution aerosol records from the Greenland NEEM ice core to reconstruct the environmental alterations in aerosol source regions accompanying these changes. Separating source and transport effects, we find strongly reduced terrestrial biogenic emissions during glacial times reflecting net loss of vegetated area in North America. Rapid climate changes during the glacial have little effect on terrestrial biogenic aerosol emissions. A strong increase in terrestrial dust emissions during the coldest intervals indicates higher aridity and dust storm activity in East Asian deserts. Glacial sea salt aerosol emissions in the North Atlantic region increase only moderately (50%), likely due to sea ice expansion. Lower aerosol concentrations in Eemian ice compared to the Holocene are mainly due to shortened atmospheric residence time, while emissions changed little. Past climate changes in Greenland ice were accompanied by large aerosol concentration changes. Here, the authors show that by correcting for transport effects, reliable source changes for biogenic aerosol from North America, sea salt aerosol from the North Atlantic, and dust from East Asian deserts can be derived.

Abstract
Abstract
Purpose: To develop a novel approach for early detection of breast cancer and examine molecular features of screen detected cancers in prospectively ascertained high-risk women undergoing semi-annual dynamic contrast-enhanced breast magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) for women at high genetic risk.
Background: Women with a personal or family history of breast cancer and genetic mutation carriers of BRCA1 and BRCA2 have a higher than normal risk of breast cancer. An intensified screening surveillance regimen is an early detection strategy in high-risk women. The American Cancer Society recommends annual DCE-MRI in addition to annual mammogram based off several pivotal screening studies that demonstrated improved sensitivity and cancer detection rates and decreased interval cancer rates with the addition of annual DCE-MRI. Questions remain regarding the optimal screening modality and interval regimen in these high-risk women.
Methods: Between 2004 and 2016, we assembled a prospective cohort of high-risk women undergoing semi-annual DCE-MRI and annual mammography. To be eligible, women had a lifetime breast cancer risk >20% and/or tested positive for a pathogenic mutation using a cancer gene panel including BRCA1, BRCA2, CDH1, PALB2, CHEK2 and other cancer susceptibility genes in the DNA repair pathway. Somatic mutation events in screen-detected tumors were investigated using UW-OncoPlex cancer gene panel using DNA extracted from FFPE shavings.
Results: 295 women were recruited to the study; 44% of the study participants had pathogenic mutations in BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes. At a median follow-up of 3.3 years (range 0-12 years), 3 DCIS and 13 early stage invasive breast cancers were detected, of which 14 occurred in subjects with identifiable pathogenic mutations (11 BRCA1, 2 BRCA2, 1 CDH1). The incidence rate is 1.3% in all subjects, but 3.5 % per year in BRCA1 carriers. DCE-MRI identified all 13 invasive cancers at a mean size of 0.61 cm (range 0.1-1.0 cm); none had lymph node metastasis. No interval cancers occurred. In addition, 7 of the breast cancers were detected on DCE-MRI imaging obtained at the 6 months screening interval; they would be interval cancers if only annual screening were implemented. There was very little DNA for somatic mutation testing in the majority of cases. However, as expected, there was heterogeneity in the spectrum of mutations but the most commonly somatically mutated gene in the early cancers was TP53.
Conclusions: DCE-MRI every 6 months performed well for early detection of invasive breast cancer in high-risk women, accomplishing the ultimate goal of breast cancer screening—detecting node-negative, invasive tumors less than 1 cm. Semi-annual DCE-MRI performed especially well in BRCA1 mutation carriers at risk for the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer. Further interventional studies evaluating this novel screening approach are warranted to personalize breast cancer risk assessment and prevention.

Abstract
Current piezoelectric sensors and actuators are limited to operating temperatures less than ~200 °C due to the low Curie temperature of the piezoelectric material. Strengthening the piezoelectric coupling of high-temperature piezoelectric materials, such as La2Ti2O7 (LTO), would allow sensors to operate across a broad temperature range. The crystalline orientation and piezoelectric coupling direction of LTO thin films can be controlled by epitaxial matching to SrTiO3(001), SrTiO3(110), and rutile TiO2(110) substrates via pulsed laser deposition. The structure and phase purity of the films are investigated by x-ray diffraction and scanning transmission electron microscopy. Piezoresponse force microscopy is used to measure the in-plane and out-of-plane piezoelectric coupling in the films. The strength of the out-of-plane piezoelectric coupling can be increased when the piezoelectric direction is rotated partially out-of-plane via epitaxy. The strongest out-of-plane coupling is observed for LTO/STO(001). Deposition on TiO2(110) results in epitaxial La2/3TiO3, an orthorhombic perovskite of interest as a microwave dielectric material and an ion conductor. La2/3TiO3 can be difficult to stabilize in bulk form, and epitaxial stabilization on TiO2(110) is a promising route to realize La2/3TiO3 for both fundamental studies and device applications. Overall, these results confirm that control of the crystalline orientation of epitaxial LTO-based materials can govern the resulting functional properties.

Abstract
One of the challenges in developing Lithium anodes for Lithium ion batteries (LIB) is controlling the formation of Li dendrites during cycling of the battery. Nanostructuring and nanopatterning of electrodes shows a promising way to suppress the growth of Li dendrites. However, in order to control this behavior, a fundamental understanding of the effect of nanopatterning on the electro-mechanical properties of Li metal is necessary. In this paper, we have investigated the mechanical and wear properties of Li metal using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) in an airtight cell. By using different load regimes, we determined the mechanical properties of Li metal. We show that as a result of nanopatterning, Li metal surface underwent work hardening due to residual compressive stress. The presence of such stresses can help to improve cycle lifetime of LIBs with Li anodes and obtain very high energy densities. Abstract
We have studied the ferroelectric domains in (001) BiFeO3 (BFO) films patterned into mesas with various aspect ratios, using angle-resolved piezoresponse force microscope (AR-PFM), which can image the in-plane polarization component with an angular resolution of 30°. We observed not only stable polarization variants, but also meta-stable polarization variants, which can reduce the charge accumulated at domain boundaries. We considered the number of neighboring domains that are in contact, in order to analyze the complexity of the ferroelectric domain structure. Comparison of the ferroelectric domains from the patterned and unpatterned regions showed that the elastic relaxation induced by removal of the film surrounding the mesas led to a reduction of the average number of neighboring domains, indicative of a decrease in domain complexity. We also found that the rectangular BFO patterns with high aspect ratio had a simpler domain configuration and enhanced piezoelectric characteristics than square-shaped mesas. Manipulation of the ferroelectric domains by controlling the aspect ratio of the patterned BFO thin film mesas can be useful for nanoelectronic applications.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Analyses using a nationally representative cohort have revealed that high fatty liver index (FLI) is associated with low bone mineral density (BMD) regardless of insulin resistance in men, thereby supporting the deteriorated bone metabolism in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). INTRODUCTION NAFLD is linked to deteriorated bone health. We investigated the association of FLI, a scoring model for NAFLD, with BMD. METHODS This was a population-based, cross-sectional study from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys including 4264 Koreans (1908 men and 2356 women). FLI was calculated using body mass index, waist circumference, serum triglyceride, and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase level. Insulin resistance was evaluated using the homeostasis model assessment-estimated insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index. BMD was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry at the lumbar spine, total hip, femoral neck, and whole body. RESULTS Men had a higher FLI than women, while the HOMA-IR index was similar between men and women. The significant association between FLI and BMD was observed only in men, but not in women. FLI was negatively correlated with total hip, femoral neck, and whole body BMD in men after adjusting for all potential confounders, including HOMA-IR (P < 0.001 to 0.010). Lumbar spine, total hip, femoral neck, and whole body BMD in men showed a decreasing trend as the FLI tertile increased after adjusting for all potential confounders, including HOMA-IR (P for trends < 0.001 to 0.034). In men aged 50 years or older, odds ratios for combined osteopenia and osteoporosis increased across increasing FLI tertiles after adjusting for confounders (P for trends < 0.011 to 0.029). CONCLUSION NAFLD is associated with low bone density regardless of insulin resistance in men. These findings suggest an undiscovered direct link between liver and bone that increases the risk of osteoporosis in men with NAFLD.

Abstract
Introduction Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) serves very important roles in lung injury, and increases in ICAM-1 are associated with severity of lung injury. We intended to examine whether ketamine could have favourable effects on ICAM-1 expression in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury in the rat. Methods The acute lung injury was induced by instilling LPS into the tracheas of 72 anaesthetised rats. The animals were divided into four groups including a sham group with intratracheal saline, an LPS group with intratracheal LPS and intraperitoneal saline, and two ketamine treatment groups with intratracheal LPS and treated with 1 mg/kg or 10 mg/kg doses of intraperitoneal ketamine hydrochloride. Half of the animals were sacrificed at three hours and the remaining animals were sacrificed at six hours. Real time PCR was performed on the lung tissues obtained. Concentration of the soluble ICAM-1 was measured in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Expression of ICAM-1 was measured. Results The transcriptional activity of ICAM-1 mRNA increased 9.92 fold in the LPS group compared to the sham group but decreased by 84.1% and 83.3%, respectively, in the 1 and 10 mg/kg ketamine treatment groups. The concentration of soluble ICAM-1 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid increased 2.23 fold in the LPS group compared to the sham group while decreasing by 75.0% and 74.5% respectively in the 1 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg ketamine treatment groups. The intensity of immunohistochemical staining for ICAM-1 was also decreased in both ketamine treatment groups. Conclusion Ketamine attenuates ICAM-1 expression during acute lung injury in rats. Abstract
Polarization-induced weak ferromagnetism (WFM) was demonstrated a few years back in LiNbO3-type compounds, MTiO3 (M = Fe, Mn, Ni). Although the coexistence of ferroelectric polarization and ferromagnetism has been demonstrated in this rare multiferroic family before, first in bulk FeTiO3, then in thin-film NiTiO3, the coupling of the two order parameters has not been confirmed. Here, we report the stabilization of polar, ferromagnetic NiTiO3 by oxide epitaxy on a LiNbO3 substrate utilizing tensile strain and demonstrate the theoretically predicted coupling between its polarization and ferromagnetism by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism under applied fields. The experimentally observed direction of ferroic ordering in the film is supported by simulations using the phase-field approach. Our work validates symmetry-based criteria and first-principles calculations of the coexistence of ferroelectricity and WFM in MTiO3 transition metal titanates crystallizing in the LiNbO3 structure. It also demonstrates the applicability of epitaxial strain as a viable alternative to high-pressure crystal growth to stabilize metastable materials and a valuable tuning parameter to simultaneously control two ferroic order parameters to create a multiferroic. Multiferroic NiTiO3 has potential applications in spintronics where ferroic switching is used, such as new four-stage memories and electromagnetic switches.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prognosis of children with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) has improved remarkably since the 1960's with the use of corticosteroid and immunosuppressive therapy. Yet there remain a minority of children who have refractory disease. Since 2003 the sporadic use of biologics (genetically-engineered proteins that usually are derived from human genes) for inflammatory myositis has been reported. In 2011-2016 we investigated our collective experience of biologics in JDM through the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA). METHODS The JDM biologic study group developed a survey on the CARRA member experience using biologics for Juvenile DM utilizing Delphi consensus methods in 2011-2012. The survey was completed online by the CARRA members interested in JDM in 2012. A second survey was similarly developed that provided more opportunity to describe their experiences with biologics in JDM in detail and was completed by CARRA members in Feb 2013. During three CARRA meetings in 2013-2015, nominal group techniques were used for achieving consensus on the current choices of biologic drugs. A final survey was performed at the 2016 CARRA meeting. RESULTS One hundred and five of a potential 231 pediatric rheumatologists (42%) responded to the first survey in 2012. Thirty-five of 90 had never used a biologic for Juvenile DM at that time. Fifty-five of 91 (denominators vary) had used biologics for JDM in their practice with 32%, 5%, and 4% using rituximab, etanercept, and infliximab, respectively, and 17% having used more than one of the three drugs. Ten percent used a biologic as monotherapy, 19% a biologic in combination with methotrexate (mtx), 52% a biologic in combination with mtx and corticosteroids, 42% a combination of a biologic, mtx, corticosteroids (steroids), and an immunosuppressive drug, and 43% a combination of a biologic, IVIG and mtx. The results of the second survey supported these findings in considerably more detail with multiple combinations of drugs used with biologics and supported the use of rituximab, abatacept, anti-TNFα drugs, and tocilizumab in that order. One hundred percent recommended that CARRA continue studying biologics for JDM. The CARRA meeting survey in 2016 again supported the study and use of these four biologic drug groups. CONCLUSIONS Our CARRA JDM biologic work group developed and performed three surveys demonstrating that pediatric rheumatologists in North America have been using multiple biologics for refractory JDM in numerous scenarios from 2011 to 2016. These survey results and our consensus meetings determined our choice of four biologic therapies (rituximab, abatacept, tocilizumab and anti-TNFα drugs) to consider for refractory JDM treatment when indicated and to evaluate for comparative effectiveness and safety in the future. Significance and Innovations This is the first report that provides a substantial clinical experience of a large group of pediatric rheumatologists with biologics for refractory JDM over five years. This experience with biologic therapies for refractory JDM may aid pediatric rheumatologists in the current treatment of these children and form a basis for further clinical research into the comparative effectiveness and safety of biologics for refractory JDM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Allergic asthma is a chronic airway inflammatory disease involving the complementary actions of innate and adaptive immune responses. Endogenously generated cannabinoids acting via CB2 receptors play important roles in both homeostatic and inflammatory processes. However, the contribution of CB2-acting eicosanoids to the innate events preceding sensitization to the common house dust mite (HDM) allergen remains to be elucidated. We investigated the role of CB2 activation during allergen-induced pulmonary inflammation and natural killer (NK) cell effector function. METHODS Lung mucosal responses in CB2-deficient (CB2-/- ) mice were examined and compared with wild-type (WT) littermates following intranasal exposure to HDM allergen. RESULTS Mice lacking CB2 receptors exhibited elevated numbers of pulmonary NK cells yet were resistant to the induction of allergic inflammation exemplified by diminished airway eosinophilia, type 2 cytokine production and mucus secretion after allergen inhalation. This phenomenon was corroborated when WT mice were treated with a CB2-specific antagonist that caused a pronounced inhibition of HDM-induced airway inflammation and goblet cell hyperplasia. Unexpectedly, the preponderance of NK cells in the lungs of CB2-/- mice correlated with reduced numbers of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s). Depletion of NK cells restored the allergen responsiveness in the lungs and was associated with elevated ILC2 numbers. CONCLUSIONS Collectively, these results reveal that CB2 activation is crucial in regulating pulmonary NK cell function, and suggest that NK cells serve to limit ILC2 activation and subsequent allergic airway inflammation. CB2 inhibition may present an important target to modulate NK cell response during pulmonary inflammation.
