Abstract
INTRODUCTION Kisspeptin is involved in the hypothalamic pituitary gonadal-axis' seasonal regulation in rodents and sheep. Studies of kisspeptin signaling in regulating the transition between breeding and nonbreeding seasons have focused on kisspeptin expression, myelin basic protein (MBP) expression around kisspeptin-ir cells, and quantifying the synaptic connections between kisspeptin and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons in various animal models; however, the role of kisspeptin in regulating the seasonal breeding of primates has not been explored yet. OBJECTIVE This study investigated changes in kisspeptin signaling during breeding and a non-breeding season in a non-human primate model, the rhesus monkey. METHODS Three adult male monkeys (n = 3) from the breeding season and two monkeys (n = 2) from the non-breeding season were used in this study. After measuring the testicular volume and collecting a single blood sample, all animals were humanely euthanized under controlled conditions, and their hypothalami were collected and processed. Two 20 µm thick hypothalamic sections (mediobasal hypothalamus) from each animal were processed for kisspeptin-MBP and kisspeptin-GnRH immunohistochemistry (IHC). One section from each animal was used as a primary antibody omitted control to check the nonspecific binding in each IHC. RESULTS Compared to the non-breeding season, plasma testosterone levels and testicular volumes were significantly higher in monkeys during the breeding season. Furthermore, compared to the non-breeding season, increased kisspeptin expression and a higher number of synaptic contacts between kisspeptin fibers and GnRH cell bodies were observed in the arcuate nucleus of the breeding season monkeys. In contrast, enlarged kisspeptin soma and higher MBP expression were observed in non-breeding monkeys. CONCLUSION Our results indicated enhanced kisspeptin signaling in primate hypothalamus during the breeding season. These findings support the idea that kisspeptin acts as a mediator for the seasonal regulation of the reproductive axis in higher primates.

Abstract
Background Neonatal birth weight and length are important indicators of neonatal survival and morbidity during later life and are influenced by maternal factors and obstetrical complications. Therefore, we aimed to determine the relationship of maternal factors and obstetric complications with term singleton vs term twin neonatal outcomes in Wuhan University Renmin Hospital, Hubei, China. Methods A total of 10517 neonatal births were recorded in a tertiary-hospital-based retrospective study and term singleton (n=7787) and term twins (n=169) were included for data analysis. Birth weight and birth length were measured immediately after birth. Correlation, independent student t-test, and backward multiple linear regression were used for statistical analysis. Results Women with singleton gestation have an increased rate of obstetric complications compared to women with twin gestation. However, a higher frequency of cesarean section and breech were found in twin gestation compared to singleton gestation. Weight before pregnancy, gestational weight gain, and gestational diabetes mellitus were significantly positive (p<0.05) associated with singleton neonatal birth length and weight. In contrast, preeclampsia, placenta previa, oligohydramnios, premature rupture of membrane, breech, and multiparity had a significantly negative (p<0.05) association with singleton neonatal birth length and weight. Maternal age was significantly positive (p<0.05) associated with only singleton neonatal birth weight. Moreover, the nuchal cord was significantly positive (p<0.05) associated with singleton neonatal birth length. On the other hand, maternal age and multiparity were significantly positive (p<0.05) associated with twins' neonatal birth length and weight. Furthermore, gestational weight gain was significantly positive (p<0.05) associated with only twins' neonatal birth weight. Conclusion In term gestation, obstetric complications were significantly associated with singleton birth size rather than twin birth size.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Due to the advancement of modern societies, the proportion of women who delay childbearing until or beyond 30 years has dramatically increased in the last three decades and has been linked with adverse maternal-neonatal outcomes. OBJECTIVE To determine the trend in delayed childbearing and its negative impact on pregnancy outcomes. MATERIAL AND METHODS A tertiary hospital-based retrospective study was conducted in Wuhan University Renmin Hospital, Hubei Province, China, during the years 2011-2019. The joinpoint regression analysis was used to find a trend in the delayed childbearing and the multiple binary logistic regression model was used to estimate the association between maternal age and pregnancy outcomes. RESULTS Between 2011 and 2019, the trend in advanced maternal age (AMA ≥35 years) increased by 75% [AAPC 7.5% (95% CI: - 10.3, 28.9)]. Based on maternal education and occupation, trend in AMA increased by 130% [AAPC 11.8% (95% CI: 1.1, 23.7)] in women of higher education level, and 112.5% [AAPC 10.1% (95% CI: 9.4, 10.9)] in women of professional services. After adjusting for confounding factors, AMA was significantly associated with increased risk of gestational hypertension (aOR 1.5; 95% CI: 1.2, 2.1), preeclampsia (aOR 1.6; 95% CI: 1.4, 1.9), sever preeclampsia (aOR 1.7; 95% CI: 1.1, 2.6), placenta previa (aOR 1.8; 95% CI: 1.5, 2.2), gestational diabetes mellitus (aOR 2.5; 95% CI: 2.3, 2.9), preterm births (aOR 1.6; 95% CI: 1.4, 1.7), perinatal mortality (aOR 1.8; 95% CI: 1.3, 2.3), and low birth weight (aOR 1.3; 95% CI: 1.2, 1.4) compared with women aged < 30 years. CONCLUSION Our findings show a marked increase in delayed childbearing and its negative association with pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
IntroductionGrowing evidence suggests that the tumor microenvironment (TME) represented by cellular and acellular components plays a key role in the multistep process of metastases and response to therapies. However, imaging and molecular characterization of the TME in prostate cancer (PCa) and its role in predicting aggressive tumor behavior and disease progression is largely unexplored. The study explores the PCa TME through the characterization of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) using both immunohistochemistry (IHC) and genomics approaches. This is then correlated with transrectal ultrasound shear wave elastography (USWE)-measured tissue stiffness.Patients and MethodsThirty patients with clinically localized PCa undergoing radical prostatectomy for different risk categories of tumor (low, intermediate, and high) defined by Gleason score (GS) were prospectively recruited into this study. Prostatic tissue stiffness was measured using USWE prior to surgery. The CAFs within the TME were identified by IHC using a panel of six antibodies (FAP, SMAα, FSP1, CD36, PDGFRα, and PDGFRβ) as well as gene expression profiling using TempO-sequence analysis. Whether the pattern and degree of immunohistochemical positivity (measured by Quick score method) and expression of genes characterizing CAFs were correlated with USWE- and GS-measured tissue stiffnesses were tested using Spearman’s rank correlation and Pearson correlation.ResultsThere was a statistically significant correlation between GS of cancers, the pattern of staining for CAFs by immunohistochemical staining, and tissue stiffness measured in kPa using USWE (p < 0.001). Significant differences were also observed in immunohistochemical staining patterns between normal prostate and prostatic cancerous tissue. PDGFRβ and SMAα immunostaining scores increased linearly with increasing the USWE stiffness and the GS of PCa. There was a significant positive correlation between increasing tissue stiffness in tumor stroma and SMAα and PDGFRβ gene expression in the fibromuscular stroma (p < 0.001).ConclusionUSWE-measured tissue stiffness correlates with increased SMAα and PDGFRβ expressing CAFs and PCa GSs. This mechanistic correlation could be used for predicting the upgrading of GS from biopsies to radical surgery and response to novel treatments.

Abstract
The universal two-child policy (TCP; 2016) in China has affected many aspects of maternal-neonatal health. A tertiary hospital-based retrospective study (2011–2019) was used to find the association of these policy changes with maternal age and pregnancy outcomes in women with AMA (≥ 35 years) in the Hubei Province, China. The proportion of neonatal births to women with AMA increased by 68.8% from 12.5% in the one-child policy (OCP) period to 21.1% in the universal TCP period [aOR 1.76 (95% CI: 1.60, 1.93)]. In the univariate analysis, the proportion of preterm births (29.4% to 24.1%), low birth weight (LBW) (20.9% to 15.9%), and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) (11.5% to 9.2%) significantly (p < 0.05) decreased in women with AMA from the OCP period to universal TCP period. However, the proportion of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) (0.2% to 0.7%) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (1.7% to 15.6%) was significantly (p < 0.05) increased over the policy changes. After adjusting for confounding factors, only the risk of GDM increased [aOR 10.91 (95% CI: 6.05, 19.67)] in women with AMA from the OCP period to the universal TCP period. In conclusion, the risk of GDM increased in women with AMA from the OCP period to the universal TCP period.

Abstract
Cancer of the thyroid is the most common endocrine malignancy. While treatment options are limited for individuals with medullary or anaplastic thyroid cancer, understanding the underlying mechanisms is vital to developing a successful thyroid cancer treatment strategy due to the tumor's multistep carcinogenesis. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have been associated with thyroid cancer progression in several recent studies; however, the role of regulatory interactions among different types of ncRNAs in thyroid cancer remains unclear. Recently, competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) has been discovered as a mechanism demonstrating regulatory interactions among non-coding RNAs, including pseudogenes, long non-coding RNAs (lnRNAs), circular RNAs (circRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs). It has been concluded from the literature that numerous ceRNA networks are deregulated during the development, invasion, and metastasis of thyroid cancer, as well as in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and drug resistance. Further understanding of these deregulations is important to develop diagnostic procedures for early detection of thyroid cancer and promising therapeutic options for effective treatment. The purpose of this review is to highlight the emerging roles of some newly found ceRNA members in thyroid cancer and outline the current body of knowledge regarding ceRNA, lncRNA, pseudogenes, and miRNAs.

Abstract
The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)” caused by the “severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” has caused huge losses to the world due to the unavailability of effective treatment options. It is now a serious threat to humans as it causes severe respiratory disease, neurological complications, and other associated problems. Although COVID-19 generally causes mild and recoverable symptoms in children, it can cause serious severe symptoms and death causing complications. Most importantly, SARS-CoV-2 can cause neurological complications in children, such as shortness of breath, myalgia, stroke, and encephalopathy. These problems are highly linked with cytokine storm and proinflammatory responses, which can alter the physiology of the blood-brain barrier and allow the virus to enter the brain. Despite the direct infection caused by the virus entry into the brain, these neurological complications can result from indirect means such as severe immune responses. This review discusses viral transmission, transport to the brain, the associated prenatal stress, and neurological and/or immunological complications in children.

Abstract
Over the years, the vaste expansion of plastic manufacturing has dramatically increased the environmental impact of microplastics [MPs] and nanoplastics [NPs], making them a threat to marine and terrestrial biota because they contain endocrine disrupting chemicals [EDCs] and other harmful compounds. MPs and NPs have deleteriouse impacts on mammalian endocrine components such as hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, testes, and ovaries. MPs and NPs absorb and act as a transport medium for harmful chemicals such as bisphenols, phthalates, polybrominated diphenyl ether, polychlorinated biphenyl ether, organotin, perfluorinated compounds, dioxins, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, organic contaminants, and heavy metals, which are commonly used as additives in plastic production. As the EDCs are not covalently bonded to plastics, they can easily leach into milk, water, and other liquids affecting the endocrine system of mammals upon exposure. The toxicity induced by MPs and NPs is size-dependent, as smaller particles have better absorption capacity and larger surface area, releasing more EDC and toxic chemicals. Various EDCs contained or carried by MPs and NPs share structural similarities with specific hormone receptors; hence they interfere with normal hormone receptors, altering the hormonal action of the endocrine glands. This review demonstrates size-dependent MPs' bioaccumulation, distribution, and translocation with potential hazards to the endocrine gland. We reviewed that MPs and NPs disrupt hypothalamic-pituitary axes, including the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid/adrenal/testicular/ovarian axis leading to oxidative stress, reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity, cytotoxicity, developmental abnormalities, decreased sperm quality, and immunotoxicity. The direct consequences of MPs and NPs on the thyroid, testis, and ovaries are documented. Still, studies need to be carried out to identify the direct effects of MPs and NPs on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are limited options for men with large benign prostates (>150cc) and bladder outflow obstruction due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Management options include surgery (open or minimal access) and endoscopic procedures. There is a paucity of literature on outcomes for prostates >150cc. METHODS In this case series we describe a step-by-step, illustrated, modified extra-peritoneal technique of laparoscopic prostatectomy with preservation of the posterior prostatic urethra. This involves creation of extra-peritoneal space, transverse incision of prostate capsule, progressive adenoma dissection, resection, and closure of the capsule. RESULTS Ten patients underwent this procedure between 2015 and 2019. The mean age was 72.4 years and mean prostate size was 215.5cc. Mean procedure duration was 200 min and there were no intraoperative complications. Most patients were discharged on postoperative day 1. Mean intraoperative blood loss was 120 ml with no patient requiring blood transfusion. At follow up (mean 37 months) no patients had residual symptoms of BPH. CONCLUSION We describe a novel extraperitoneal laparoscopic technique for benign prostates of >150cc with very good outcomes. The transferability of this technique to centres with laparoscopic expertise at minimal extra cost and future adaptability in the robotic setting are some of the advantages of this technique.

Abstract
Simple Summary The study provides a predictive model by using clinical factors in selecting men who may benefit from the addition of systematic biopsies with an image fusion targeted approach. The approach is likely to improve the detection of csPCa and avoid unnecessary detection of indolent prostate cancers. Abstract The study was aimed to develop a predictive model to identify patients who may benefit from performing systematic random biopsies (SB) in addition to targeted biopsies (TB) in men suspected of having prostate cancer. A total of 198 patients with positive pre-biopsy MRI findings and who had undergone both TB and SB were prospectively recruited into this study. The primary outcome was detection rates of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) in SB and TB approaches. The secondary outcome was net clinical benefits of SB in addition to TB. A logistic regression model and nomogram construction were used to perform a multivariate analysis. The detection rate of csPCa using SB was 51.0% (101/198) compared to a rate of 56.1% (111/198) for TB, using a patient-based biopsy approach. The detection rate of csPCa was higher using a combined biopsy (64.6%; 128/198) in comparison to TB (56.1%; 111/198) alone. This was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Age, PSA density and PIRADS score significantly predicted the detection of csPCa by SB in addition to TB. A nomogram based on the model showed good discriminative ability (C-index; 78%). The decision analysis curve confirmed a higher net clinical benefit at an acceptable threshold.

Abstract
Objectives To investigate the impact of ultrasound shear wave elastography (USWE) and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) in predicting a change in biopsy-assigned Gleason Score (GS) after radical surgery for localised prostate cancer (PCa). Method A total of 212 men opting for laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP) between September 2013 and June 2017 were recruited into this study. All the participants had 12-core transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) biopsies and imaging using USWE and mpMRI before radical surgery. The predictive accuracy for imaging modalities was assessed in relation to upgrading and downgrading of PCa GS between the biopsies and radical prostatectomy using Student's t-test and multivariable logistic regression analyses. A decision analysis curve was constructed assessing the impact of nomogram on clinical situations using different thresholds of upgrading probabilities. Results Most GS 6 diseases on biopsies were upgraded on radical surgery (37/42, 88.1%). Major downgrading was seen in GS 8 category of disease (14/35; 37.1%), whereas no alteration was observed in GS 7 on biopsies in most men (55/75; 73.3%). In univariate analysis, higher preoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) (p = 0.001), higher prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD) (p = 0.002), stiffer USWE lesions (p = 0.009), and higher prostate imaging-reporting and data system (PIRADS) (p = 0.002) on mpMRI were significant predictors of upgrading. In multivariate logistic regression analyses, only PSA (p = 0.016) and USWE-measured tissue stiffness (p = 0.029) showed statistical significance in predicting upgrading. Conclusions Measurement of tissue stiffness using USWE in clinically localised PCa can predict upgrading of GS and has the potential to improve patient management options.

Abstract
The construction of hydropower projects discharges effluents to aquatic bodies. The effluents consist of different chemicals including heavy metals. The current study assessed the effects of effluents discharged from an under-construction hydropower project on the bioaccumulation of heavy metals in the tissues of critically endangered Tor putitora (Hamilton, 1822) in the river Panjkora. The subsequent toxic impacts of higher bioaccumulation of heavy metals on different biochemical, hematological, and serum biochemical profiles were also studied. Different biochemical changes were observed in the tissues of T. putitora including stress biomarkers such as reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxidation, total protein contents, antioxidant enzymes (peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione, glutathione reductase, and glutathione-s-transferase), acetylcholinesterase, and whole-body cortisol. The hematotoxic effects were also observed as the count of red blood cells, hematocrit, and hemoglobin decreased whereas the count of white blood cells increased. Serum biochemical analysis revealed that cholesterol, urea, total bilirubin, and glucose concentration increased, whereas total proteins and albumin decreased with an increase in the concentration of heavy metals across the sampling sites. The fish from the river was found to be under severe stress as compared to the fish from the reference site. To mitigate the current scenario, stocking fish in an appropriate amount is suggested. The fish diversity and water quality should be assessed at regular intervals to avoid further deterioration and diversity loss. The safety and conservation of wild fisheries should be ensured by implementing strict environmental protection and fishing laws.

Abstract
Assessment of minimally invasive surgical skills is a non-trivial task, usually requiring the presence and time of expert observers, including subjectivity and requiring special and expensive equipment and software. Although there are virtual simulators that provide self-assessment features, they are limited as the trainee loses the immediate feedback from realistic physical interaction. The physical training boxes, on the other hand, preserve the immediate physical feedback, but lack the automated self-assessment facilities. This study develops an algorithm for real-time tracking of laparoscopy instruments in the video cues of a standard physical laparoscopy training box with a single fisheye camera. The developed visual tracking algorithm recovers the 3D positions of the laparoscopic instrument tips, to which simple colored tapes (markers) are attached. With such system, the extracted instrument trajectories can be digitally processed, and automated self-assessment feedback can be provided. In this way, both the physical interaction feedback would be preserved and the need for the observance of an expert would be overcome. Real-time instrument tracking with a suitable assessment criterion would constitute a significant step towards provision of real-time (immediate) feedback to correct trainee actions and show them how the action should be performed. This study is a step towards achieving this with a low cost, automated, and widely applicable laparoscopy training and assessment system using a standard physical training box equipped with a fisheye camera.

Coping with extremes: High-altitude sparrows enhance metabolic and thermogenic capacities in the pectoralis muscle and suppress in the liver relative to their lowland counterparts. Abstract
Animals living at high altitudes are challenged by the extreme environmental conditions of cold temperature and hypobaric hypoxia. It is not well understood how high-altitude birds enhance the capacity of metabolic thermogenesis and allocate metabolic capacity in different organs to maximize survival in extreme conditions of a cold winter. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) is the largest and highest plateau globally, offering a natural laboratory for investigating coping mechanisms of organisms inhabiting extreme environments. To understand the adaptive strategies in the morphology and physiology of small songbirds on the QTP, we compared plasma triiodothyronine (T3), pectoralis muscle mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (COX) and state IV capacities, the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator α (PGC-1α), adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT), uncoupling protein (UCP), and adenosine monophosphate-dependent kinase (AMPK) α1 mRNA in the pectoralis and liver of Eurasian tree sparrows (Passer montanus) from high-altitude (3,230 m), medium-altitude (1400 m), and low-altitude (80 m) regions. Our results showed that high-altitude sparrows had greater body masses, longer wings and tarsometatarsi, but comparable bill lengths relative to medium- and low-altitude individuals. High-altitude sparrows had higher plasma T3 levels and pectoralis muscle mitochondrial COX capacities than their lowland counterparts. They also upregulated the pectoralis muscle mRNA expression of UCP, PGC-1α, and ANT proteins relative to low-altitude sparrows. Unlike pectoralis, high-altitude sparrows significantly down-regulated hepatic AMPKα1 and ANT protein expression as compared with their lowland counterparts. Our results contribute to understanding the morphological, biochemical, and molecular adaptations in free-living birds to cope with the cold seasons in the extreme environment of the QTP.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction
Currently, the gold standard for T1a renal cell carcinoma treatment is partial nephrectomy (PN). However, active surveillance (AS) is increasing in elderly individuals with co-morbidities. Our hypothesis was that individuals choosing active surveillance would have similar cancer specific survival as partial nephrectomy.
Method
This retrospective study used electronic notes to collect patient data presenting with T1a renal cell carcinoma, identified over a 15-year period. Primary outcomes were to compare the survival outcomes of these patients while being related to their comorbidities using the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI).
Results
183 patients were identified with 62 (35%) and 121 (65%) undergoing PN and AS respectively. Patients treated with AS were older (mean age of 66 years vs 58 years; P < 0.001) and had a higher CCI (median CCI 3 vs 2; P = 0.001). Overall, a total of 4 (6.5%) and 55 (45.5%) patients died from any cause after PN and AS respectively, with deaths attributed to kidney cancer was 2 (3.2%), and 10 (8.2%) respectively. Multivariate analysis showed only age >70 affected overall survival independently between the two groups (HR 5.85; CI 3.29-10.42; P < 0.001). Tumour size showed to be the only independent variable on cancer specific survival (HR 2.51; CI 1.14 -5.53; P = 0.023). No difference was seen between the treatment options in multivariate analysis in both overall and cancer specific survival.
Conclusions
The study agreed with the hypothesis of similar cancer specific survival. Highlighting for elderly individuals with significant co-morbidities, there is no observed benefit for undergoing partial resection.

Abstract
Cisplatin, an anticancer drug used in treating various types of cancers, can cause reproductive toxicities during chemotherapy. Keeping this in view, the present study was designed to investigate the possible protective effects of normal vitamin C and E and vitamin C and E nanoparticles (embedded in chitosan) against cisplatin-induced reproductive toxicities. Vitamins C, E, and their nanoparticles in this regard proved to be an effective therapy. The work aimed to treat cisplatin-induced reproductive toxicities through vitamin C and E and their nanoparticles. Cisplatin exposure caused significant reduction in the weight, testosterone level, and changed lipid profile. Similarly, cisplatin induced significant widespread testicular atrophy and testicular lesions as evidenced by the gaps in the epithelium and loss of differentiating germ cells. Vitamin C and E and their nanoparticles rescued the weight, testosterone level, and testicular disturbances, which is associated with improved histological view of testicular tissues. The current study highlights evidence that designing a medication of vitamin C and E nanoparticles is useful in mitigating cisplatin-induced reproductive toxicity in cancerous male patients underlying chemotherapy.

Abstract
Feral dogs are well-organized hunters of ungulates in many parts of the world, causing great damage to wildlife populations and ultimately to the ecosystem. In Pakistan, the impacts of feral dogs on the wildlife have not been documented yet. In a period of fifteen years (2006-2020), feral dogs have killed hundreds of threatened markhor in Chitral gol national park (CGNP), Pakistan. Despite direct predation other impacts including disturbance and competition with other natural predators, could compromise conservation and management efforts. The population of feral dogs seems to have been increased with the increase of dumping sites by communities. Our findings suggest that there are pressing needs of controlling the feral dogs population and eradicating them from the core zone of CGNP and surrounding buffer communities. Conventional culling of dogs should be coupled with modern techniques like castration and sterilization. Communities should be educated regarding the clean environment, proper disposal of home wastes and, biodiversity conservation.

Abstract
A high-fat diet (HFD) is linked with cytokines production by non-neuronal cells within the hypothalamus, which mediates metabolic inflammation. These cytokines then activate different inflammatory mediators in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus (ARC), a primary hypothalamic area accommodating proopiomelanocortin (POMC) and agouti-related peptide (AGRP) neurons, first-order neurons that sense and integrate peripheral metabolic signals and then respond accordingly. These mediators, such as inhibitor of κB kinase-β (IKKβ), suppression of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3), c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs), protein kinase C (PKC), etc., cause insulin and leptin resistance in POMC and AGRP neurons and support obesity and related metabolic complications. On the other hand, inhibition of these mediators has been shown to counteract the impaired metabolism. Therefore, it is important to discuss the contribution of neuronal and non-neuronal cells in HFD-induced hypothalamic inflammation. Furthermore, understanding few other questions, such as the diets causing hypothalamic inflammation, the gender disparity in response to HFD feeding, and how hypothalamic inflammation affects ARC neurons to cause impaired metabolism, will be helpful for the development of therapeutic approaches to prevent or treat HFD-induced obesity.
