Abstract
BACKGROUND Cytochrome C oxidase assembly factor 6 (COA6) is significantly involved in the progression of cancer and is aberrantly expressed in disease. Nevertheless, the comprehensive analysis of COA6 using many omics techniques, and its impact on the prognosis and immunological microenvironment of cancer patients, remains unexplored. METHODS We gathered data from 33 cancer cases and conducted a thorough analysis of abnormalities in COA6 gene expression. This analysis included examining its relevance to disease, its diagnostic and prognostic value, pathway enrichment, the immune microenvironment, its association with immune checkpoints, and its ability to predict patient response to immunotherapy and natural small molecule drugs that target the COA6 protein. Ultimately, we examined the function of COA6 in bladder cancer by in vitro research. RESULTS Our study revealed significant variations in gene expression and identified COA6 as a potential diagnostic biomarker for cancer. COA6 was also discovered to have a crucial function in pan-cancer involving the tumor microenvironment. COA6 has a strong correlation with well-known immunological checkpoints, including TMB and MSI. Molecular docking identified natural small chemical inhibitors that specifically target the COA6 protein. Ultimately, scientific evidence has verified that suppressing the expression of the COA6 gene hinders the growth and infiltration of bladder cancer cells. CONCLUSIONS Our study emphasizes the significant potential of COA6 as a predictive and immunotherapeutic response biomarker. This finding may lead to future investigation into the mechanism of tumor infiltration and the therapeutic possibilities of COA6 in cancer.

Abstract
Background Although the application of four-dimensional hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (4D-HyCoSy) has relatively good diagnostic accuracy for assessing the patency of the fallopian tubes, the evaluation process mainly relies on morphological findings of the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship of peak injection pressure during 4D-HyCoSy and tubal patency to provide a quantitative indicator for the evaluation of fallopian tube patency. Methods This study included infertile patients who underwent 4D-HyCoSy and laparoscopic chromopertubation (LC) between 2020 and 2022, with LC serving as the reference test for assessing tubal patency. For the HyCoSy procedure, the ultrasound contrast agent was injected automatically using a liquid injection machine, and real-time pressure values were recorded. Patients were classified based on tubal patency status in LC as bilaterally patent, unilaterally patent, or bilaterally nonpatent. The average peak injection pressure and contrast agent volume of different groups were compared. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was employed to determine the cutoff value. Results A total of 268 infertile patients were enrolled in the study. With LC as the standard examination, the sensitivity and specificity of 4D-HyCoSy in diagnosing nonpatent fallopian tubes were 91.1% and 95.1%, respectively. In general, peak injection pressure was observed to gradually increase as tubal patency decreased (P<0.001), with average peak injection pressures of 233.5±66.3, 338.8±99.8, and 469.6±63.1 mmHg in the bilaterally patent, unilaterally patent, and bilaterally nonpatent groups, respectively. The volume of contrast agent used in patients in the bilaterally nonpatent group was significantly lower than that in the other two groups (P<0.01), with average volumes of 22.7±6.3, 24.3±9.3, and 18.9±9.2 mL, respectively. When one fallopian tube was patent, the area under the curve (AUC) for distinguishing obstruction from patency of the other fallopian tube was 0.827, with a sensitivity of 79.8% and a specificity of 74.3% (cutoff value: 254.3 mmHg). Similarly, when one fallopian tube was nonpatent, the AUC was 0.866, with a sensitivity of 90.6% and a specificity of 78.3% (cutoff value: 401.3 mmHg). Conclusions Peak injection pressure during 4D-HyCoSy demonstrates promising diagnostic performance in evaluating fallopian tube patency in infertile patients.

Abstract
Lanmaoa asiatica G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang and L. macrocarpa N. K. Zeng, H. Chai & S. Jiang are two important gourmet bolete in China, and locally named "Jian Shou Qing" meaning their fruiting bodies turn blue after bruising. The genus represents a distinct lineage in Boletaceae. The pigment(s) associated with the discoloration in Lanmaoa has not been identified. The aim of this study was to determine the pigment(s) underpinning the bluing reaction of L. asiatica and L. macrocarpa when bruised. Potential compounds were isolated by HPLC and identified by LC-HRMS and NMR. In total five to six pigments of hydroxylated pulvinic acid derivatives were detected with similar distribution patterns in both L. asiatica and L. macrocarpa, which by abundance were variegatic acid, variegatorubin, xerocomic acid (and/or isoxerocomic acid), xerocomorubin, and atromentic acid. Variegatic acid, the most abundant pigment, was isolated by HPLC, and the structure was further characterized by NMR. The amount of variegatic acid increased after regular cooking, which may suggest its enhanced health benefit as human diet. The types of pigments that cause bluing reactions often differ among families of Boletales. Our results showed that the pigments in Lanmaoa belong to the category of hydroxylated pulvinic acid derivatives, the major bluing compounds in Boletaceae.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Herpes zoster (HZ) is a common medical condition accompanied by several distressing symptoms, including acute pain. Pien Tze Huang (PZH) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with numerous pharmacological effects, including antiviral properties, neuroprotection, and immunity regulation. PURPOSE To investigate the efficacy and safety of PZH capsules in patients with HZ. STUDY DESIGN A multicenter, double-blinded, randomized, and placebo-controlled trial from 8 hospitals in 5 cities of China. METHODS Eligible participants were randomly assigned to the PZH capsule and placebo group at a 1:1 ratio. Treatment was conducted for 14 days with a window period of no more than 2 days. For the first 7 days, participants received antiviral drugs combined with PZH capsules (0.6 g/time, 3 times a day) or placebos. For the remaining 7 days, they were only treated with PZH capsules (0.6 g/time, 3 times a day) or placebos. RESULTS We included 222 patients in the full analysis set (FAS), and 187 patients in the per protocol set (PPS). The change of numeric rating scale pain scores from baseline to the seventh day (±1 day) after treatment in the PZH capsule group was statistically superior to the placebo group (FAS: 2.33 vs. 1.71, 97.5%CI: 0.03 ∼ 1.19; PPS: 2.29 vs. 1.51, 97.5%CI: 0.18 ∼ 1.38). In the PPS, there was a significant difference in the time (days) of pain relief between the placebo group and the PZH capsule group (Mean (SD): 5.71 (3.76) vs. 4.69 (3.57), p = 0.046). On the seventh day (±1 day) after treatment, the level of CD8+ cells in the PZH capsule group were higher than those of the placebo group (FAS: Mean (SD): 24.08 (6.81) vs. 21.93 (8.19), p = 0.007; PPS: Mean (SD): 24.26 (6.93) vs. 22.15 (8.51), p = 0.012). The level of cytotoxic lymphocyte cells found similar results on the seventh day (±1 day) (FAS: Mean (SD): 12.17 (4.65) vs. 10.55 (4.15), p = 0.018; PPS: Mean (SD): 12.25 (4.65) vs. 10.11 (3.93), p = 0.002). No serious adverse events were noted and PZH capsules were well tolerated. CONCLUSION PZH capsules confer therapeutic effects on HZ with the TCM symptom of stagnated heat of liver channel by substantially reducing the pain intensity, shortening the time of pain relief as well as regulating the immune function. On the basis of the efficacy and safety profiles, PZH capsules may be a promising complementary therapy for the treatment of HZ.

Abstract
More than half of the breast cancer initially labeled as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative actually exhibited low HER2 levels (IHC 1+ or IHC 2+/FISH-) and were classified as HER2-low breast cancer. Previous research emphasized the significant biological heterogeneity in HER2-low breast cancer, highlighting the importance of accurately characterizing HER2-low tumors to promote the precise management of antibody‒drug conjugates. In this study, we established a large-scale targeted sequencing cohort (N = 1907) representing Chinese HER2-low breast cancer patients with detailed clinical annotation. Our research findings revealed that HER2-low breast cancer demonstrated distinct clinical pathological characteristics and mutation landscapes compared to HER2-zero group. When compared to HER2-zero tumors, HER2-low tumors exhibited a higher proportion of Luminal B subtypes and better disease-free survival. In hormone receptor (HR)-positive breast cancer, HER2-low group showed a higher frequency of GATA3 somatic mutations, BRCA2 germline mutations, and mutations in the DNA damage repair pathway. In contrast, in HR-negative breast cancer, the HER2-low group displayed a higher frequency of PIK3CA mutations and PI3K pathway alterations. These findings offered valuable insights for the precise targeted treatment of HER2-low breast cancer in different HR statuses.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of disitamab vedotin (DV, RC48-ADC), a novel humanized anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) antibody conjugated with monomethyl auristatin E, in patients with HER2-positive locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) refractory to standard or regular therapies. PATIENTS AND METHODS The data analyzed and reported are from two phase II, open-label, multicenter, single-arm studies (RC48-C005 and RC48-C009) in patients with HER2-positive (immunohistochemistry 3+ or 2+) locally advanced or metastatic UC who have progressed on at least one previous line of systemic chemotherapy. Patients received DV treatment (2 mg/kg IV infusion, once every 2 weeks). The primary end point was objective response rate (ORR) assessed by a blinded independent review committee (BIRC). Progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and safety were also assessed. RESULTS One hundred and seven patients were enrolled in total. The overall confirmed ORR by BIRC was 50.5% (95% CI, 40.6 to 60.3). Consistent results were observed in prespecified subgroups including patients with liver metastasis and patients previously treated with anti-PD-1/L1 therapies. By the cutoff date of May 10, 2022, the median duration of response was 7.3 months (95% CI, 5.7 to 10.8). The median PFS and OS were 5.9 months (95% CI, 4.3 to 7.2) and 14.2 months (95% CI, 9.7 to 18.8), respectively. The most common treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) were peripheral sensory neuropathy (68.2%), leukopenia (50.5%), AST increased (42.1%), and neutropenia (42.1%). Fifty-eight (54.2%) patients experienced grade ≥3 TRAEs, including peripheral sensory neuropathy (18.7%) and neutropenia (12.1%). CONCLUSION DV demonstrated a promising efficacy with a manageable safety profile in patients with HER2-positive locally advanced or metastatic UC who had progressed on at least one line of systemic chemotherapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the trends in Oncomelania hupensis distribution in Wuhan City, Hubei Province from 2003 to 2022, so as to provide insights into precision schistosomiasis control. METHODS Data pertaining to O. hupensis snail survey in Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 were collected. The trends in the proportion of areas with snail habitats, actual area with snail habitats, mean density of living snails and prevalence of Schistosoma japonicum infection in snails were evaluated in schistosomiasis-endemic areas of Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 with the slope of trend curve (β), annual percent change (APC) and average annual percent change (AAPC) using a Joinpoint regression model. RESULTS During the period from 2003 through 2022, there were two turning points for the proportion of areas with snail habitats in Wuhan City in 2005 and 2015, with a rise during the period from 2003 to 2005 (β1 = 5.93, t = 1.280, P > 0.05), a decline from 2005 to 2015 (β2 = -0.88, t = -2.074, P > 0.05) and a rise from 2015 to 2022 (β3 = 1.46, t = -2.356, P < 0.05). During the period from 2003 through 2022, there were two turning points for the proportion of areas with snail habitats in islet endemic areas of Wuhan City in 2006 and 2015, with no significant differences in the trends from 2003 to 2006 (β1 = 4.64, t = 1.888, P > 0.05) or from 2006 to 2015 (β2 = -1.45, t = -2.143, P > 0.05), and with a tendency towards a rise from 2015 to 2022 (β3 = 2.04, t = -3.100, P < 0.05). During the period from 2003 through 2022, there were two turning points for the proportion of areas with snail habitats in inner embankment endemic areas of Wuhan City in 2012 and 2020, with a tendency towards a decline from 2003 to 2012 (β1 = -0.39, t = -4.608, P < 0.05) and with no significant differences in the trends from 2012 to 2020 (β2 = 0.03, t = 0.245, P > 0.05) and from 2020 to 2022 (β3 = 1.38, t = 1.479, P > 0.05). During the period from 2003 to 2022, the actual area with snail habitats all appeared a tendency towards a decline in Wuhan City, and in islet and inner embankment endemic areas of Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 (AAPC = -2.39%, -5.75% and -2.35%, all P values < 0.05). The mean density of living snails reduced from 0.087 snails/0.1 m2 in 2003 to 0.027 snails/0.1 m2 in 2022 in Wuhan City, with a significant difference in the tendency towards the decline (APC = AAPC = -11.47%, P < 0.05). The annual mean decline rate of the mean density of living snails was 17.36% in outside embankment endemic areas of Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 (APC = AAPC = -17.36%, P < 0.05), and there was no significant difference in the trends in the mean density of living snails in islet endemic areas of Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 (APC = AAPC = -0.97%, P > 0.05). In addition, the prevalence of S. japonicum infection in snails appeared a tendency towards a decline in Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022 (APC = AAPC = -12.45%, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The proportion of areas with snail habitats, actual area with snail habitats, mean density of living snails and prevalence of S. japonicum infection in snails all appeared a tendency towards a decline in Wuhan City from 2003 to 2022. Intensified snail control, modification of snail habitats, shrinking of areas with snails and implementation of grazing prohibition in snail-infested settings are required, in order to facilitate the progress towards schistosomiasis elimination in Wuhan City.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the safety and therapeutic effect of split liver transplantation (SLT) in clinical application. Methods: This is a retrospective case-series study. The clinical data of 203 consecutive SLT, 79 living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and 1 298 whole liver transplantation (WLT) performed at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from July 2014 to July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Two hundred and three SLT liver grafts were obtained from 109 donors. One hundred and twenty-seven grafts were generated by in vitro splitting and 76 grafts were generated by in vivo splitting. There were 90 adult recipients and 113 pediatric recipients. According to time, SLT patients were divided into two groups: the early SLT group (40 cases, from July 2014 to December 2017) and the mature SLT technology group (163 cases, from January 2018 to July 2023). The survival of each group was analyzed and the main factors affecting the survival rate of SLT were analyzed. The Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test were used for survival analysis. Results: The cumulative survival rates at 1-, 3-, and 5-year were 74.58%, 71.47%, and 71.47% in the early SLT group, and 88.03%, 87.23%, and 87.23% in the mature SLT group, respectively. Survival rates in the mature SLT group were significantly higher than those in the early SLT group (χ2=5.560,P=0.018). The cumulative survival rates at 1-, 3- and 5-year were 93.41%, 93.41%, 89.95% in the LDLT group and 87.38%, 81.98%, 77.04% in the WLT group, respectively. There was no significant difference among the mature SLT group, the LDLT group and the WLT group (χ2=4.016, P=0.134). Abdominal hemorrhage, infection, primary liver graft nonfunction,and portal vein thrombosis were the main causes of early postoperative death. Conclusion: SLT can achieve results comparable to those of WLT and LDLT in mature technology liver transplant centers, but it needs to go through a certain time learning curve.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common refractory hematologic cancer. Searching for new targets and prognostic markers for MM is significant. METHODS GSE39754, GSE6477 and GSE24080 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in MM versus healthy people from GSE39754 and GSE6477 were screened using limma package, and MM-related module genes were chosen with the use of Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and the two were intersected using ggVennDiagram for obtaining MM-related DEGs. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were carried out. Then, protein-protein interactions (PPI) analysis in String database was used to obtain hub genes, while prognosis was analyzed by survival package in GSE24080. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was adopted for evaluating diagnostic value of hub genes. Besides, univariable/multivariable Cox regression were employed to screen independent prognostic biomarkers. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to find possible mechanism. Finally, western-blotting and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) verify TYROBP expression within MM and healthy people. We performed cell adhesion and transwell assays for investigating TYROBP function in MM cell adhesion and migration. RESULTS Through differential analyses, 92 MM-related DEGs were obtained. 10 hub genes were identified by PPI and CytoHubba. Their diagnostic and prognostic significance was analyzed. Down-regulation of genes like TYROBP, ELANE, MNDA, and MPO related to dismal MM prognosis. Upon univariable/multivariable Cox regression, TYROBP independently predicted MM prognosis. GSEA pathway was enriched, indicating that TYROBP expression affected MM development via cell adhesion molecular pathway. Upon Western-blotting and RT-PCR assays, TYROBP expression among MM patients decreased relative to healthy donors. Cell adhesion and transwell migration assays revealed increased MM cell adhesion and decreased migration upon TYROBP up-regulation. CONCLUSION In summary, TYROBP is a potential prognostic marker for MM.

Abstract
The parallel double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) demonstrates potential utility in molecular biology, diagnosis, therapy, and molecular assembly. However, techniques for the characterization of parallel dsDNA are limited. Here, we demonstrate that a series of intensive characteristic Raman bands of three parallel dsDNAs, which are stabilized by reverse Hoogsteen A+·A+ base pairs or hemiprotonated C+·C, G·G minor groove edge, Hoogsteen A·A base pairs, or Hoogsteen T·A, C+·G base pairs, have been observed by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) when the gold nanoparticles modified by bromine and magnesium ions (Au BMNPs) were used as substrates. The featured bands can not only accurately discriminate parallel dsDNA from antiparallel one but also identify the strand orientation within dsDNA. The proposed approach will have a significant impact on DNA analysis, especially in the detection and differentiation of various DNA conformations.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and impact on executive function of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adolescents. Methods A total of 129 adolescents diagnosed with MDD were enrolled in the study. Out of these, 28 adolescents were assigned to the SFBT group, while 25 were part of the Active Control group (AC group), receiving psychodynamic psychotherapy. Executive function, depressive and anxiety symptoms were assessed at baseline, at the time of the third intervention, the sixth intervention, and the 10th intervention. Results After the third intervention, the scores of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) of the participants in the SFBT group decreased significantly, which had the cumulative effect at the 6th and 10th interventions. The verbal fluency task (VFT) performances of the SFBT group participants yielded significantly higher scores after the third intervention and remained increasing at the 6th and 10th interventions. The AC group steadily decreased after the intervention. Analysis of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) data revealed a progressive and significant increase in the average oxyhemoglobin (oxy-Hb) levels in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in the SFBT group compared to the AC group after the 10th intervention. Conclusions SFBT might improve depressive and anxiety symptoms as well as executive function of adolescent depression. Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) was found to be higher in individuals following COVID-19 infection. However, the intricate mechanisms that underscore this concomitance remain partially elucidated. The aim of this study was to delve deeper into the molecular mechanisms that underpin this comorbidity. METHODS We acquired gene expression profiles for COVID-19 (GSE157103) and OSA (GSE75097) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Upon identifying shared feature genes between OSA and COVID-19 utilizing LASSO, Random forest and Support vector machines algorithms, we advanced to functional annotation, analysis of protein-protein interaction networks, module construction, and identification of pivotal genes. Furthermore, we established regulatory networks encompassing transcription factor (TF)-gene and TF-miRNA interactions, and searched for promising drug targets. Subsequently, the expression levels of pivotal genes were validated through proteomics data from COVID-19 cases. RESULTS Fourteen feature genes shared between OSA and COVID-19 were selected for further investigation. Through functional annotation, it was indicated that metabolic pathways play a role in the pathogenesis of both disorders. Subsequently, employing the cytoHubba plugin, ten hub genes were recognized, namely TP53, CCND1, MDM2, RB1, HIF1A, EP300, STAT3, CDK2, HSP90AA1, and PPARG. The finding of proteomics unveiled a substantial augmentation in the expression level of HSP90AA1 in COVID-19 patient samples, especially in severe conditions. CONCLUSIONS Our investigation illuminate a mutual pathogenic mechanism that underlies both OSA and COVID-19, which may provide novel perspectives for future investigations into the underlying mechanisms.

Abstract
Perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) is a widely used cool season turfgrass with outstanding turf quality and grazing tolerance. High temperature is the key factor restricting the distribution of perennial ryegrass in temperate and sub-tropic regions. In this study, we found that one HEAT SHCOK TRANSCRIPTION FACOTR (HSF) class A gene from perennial ryegrass, LpHSFA3, was highly induced by heat stress. LpHSFA3 is localized in nucleus and functions as a transcription factor. Ectopic overexpression of LpHSFA3 in Arabidopsis improved thermotolerance and rescued heat sensitive deficiency of athsfa3 mutant. Overexpression of LpHSFA3 in perennial ryegrass enhanced heat tolerance and increased survival rate in summer season as evidenced by decreased EL and MDA, increased number of green leaves and total chlorophyll content. LpHSFA3 binds to the HSE region in LpHSFA2a promoter to constitutively activate the expression of LpHSFA2a and downstream heat stress responsive genes. Ectopic overexpression of LpHSFA2a consequently rescued thermal sensitivity of athsfa3 mutant and enhanced thermotolerance of athsfa2 mutant. Perennial ryegrass protoplasts with overexpression of LpHSFA3 and LpHSFA2a exhibited induction of similar subsets of heat responsive genes. These results indicated that transcription factor LpHSFA3 functions as positive regulator of LpHSFA2a to improve thermotolerance of perennial ryegrass, providing further evidence to understand the regulatory networks of plant heat stress response.

Abstract
Genomic data serve as an invaluable resource for unraveling the intricacies of the higher plant systems, including the constituent elements within and among species. Through various efforts in genomic data archiving, integrative analysis and value-added curation, the National Genomics Data Center (NGDC), which is a part of the China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB), has successfully established and currently maintains a vast amount of database resources. This dedicated initiative of the NGDC facilitates a data-rich ecosystem that greatly strengthens and supports genomic research efforts. Here, we present a comprehensive overview of central repositories dedicated to archiving, presenting, and sharing plant omics data, introduce knowledgebases focused on variants or gene-based functional insights, highlight species-specific multiple omics database resources, and briefly review the online application tools. We intend that this review can be used as a guide map for plant researchers wishing to select effective data resources from the NGDC for their specific areas of study. Abstract
Abiotic stresses such as salinity, heat and drought seriously impair plant growth and development, causing a significant loss in crop yield and ornamental value. Biotechnology approaches manipulating specific genes prove to be effective strategies in crop trait modification. The Arabidopsis vacuolar pyrophosphatase gene AVP1, the rice SUMO E3 ligase gene OsSIZ1 and the cyanobacterium flavodoxin gene Fld have previously been implicated in regulating plant stress responses and conferring enhanced tolerance to different abiotic stresses when individually overexpressed in various plant species. We have explored the feasibility of combining multiple favourable traits brought by individual genes to acquire superior plant performance. To this end, we have simultaneously introduced AVP1, OsSIZ1 and Fld in creeping bentgrass. Transgenic (TG) plants overexpressing these three genes performed significantly better than wild type controls and the TGs expressing individual genes under both normal and various abiotic stress conditions, exhibited significantly enhanced plant growth and tolerance to drought, salinity and heat stresses as well as nitrogen and phosphate starvation, which were associated with altered physiological and biochemical characteristics and delicately fine-tuned expression of genes involved in plant stress responses. Our results suggest that AVP1, OsSIZ1 and Fld function synergistically to regulate plant development and plant stress response, leading to superior overall performance under both normal and adverse environments. The information obtained provides new insights into gene stacking as an effective approach for plant genetic engineering. A similar strategy can be extended for the use of other beneficial genes in various crop species for trait modifications, enhancing agricultural production.

Abstract
AIMS This study aimed to explore the relationship among moral distress, psychological capital, and burnout in registered nurses. ETHICAL CONSIDERATION The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the School of Nursing, Hangzhou Normal University (Approval no. 2022001). METHODS A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 397 nurses from three Grade-A tertiary hospitals in Zhejiang Province, China. Participants completed demographic information, the Nurses' Moral Distress Scale, the Nurses' Psychological Capital Scale, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale. The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. RESULTS The study found that moral distress and burnout are positively correlated, while psychological capital is negatively correlated with both moral distress and burnout. The path analysis in structural equation modeling revealed that moral distress has a significant direct effect on psychological capital, while psychological capital has a significant direct effect on burnout. In addition, moral distress also had a significant indirect effect on burnout through psychological capital. Moreover, both the direct effect of moral distress on burnout and the total effect of moral distress on burnout were significant. CONCLUSION The findings suggest that psychological capital plays an important role in the relationship between moral distress and burnout. Promoting psychological capital among nurses may be a promising strategy for preventing moral distress and burnout in the workplace.

Abstract
Heat-resistant polymer materials have been widely used in many fields, but their anticounterfeit is still a significant challenge. This work has successfully constructed a heat-resistant polymer material that can achieve self-anticounterfeit. In response to changes in the external environment, the color of polymer changes from yellow-green to red reversibly, which is due to the fact that polymer material's backbone undergoes isomerization. Therefore, this high-performance polymer material can not only be used in a high-temperature environment for a long time but also achieve its anticounterfeit and be used in advanced security applications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gestational choriocarcinoma occurs very rare in conjunction with pregnancy and it is camouflage for diagnosis. METHODS We present a rare case of asymptomatic choriocarcinoma in a viable pregnancy that was successfully diagnosed by ultrasonography and had timely treatment. RESULTS According to the ultrasonography, early diagnosis and treatment monitoring of choriocarcinoma during a viable pregnancy was administered and the newborn was discharged. CONCLUSION Choriocarcinoma in pregnancy is camouflaged, and its clinical presentation varies widely. Despite an asymptomatic status, metastasis can occur, and ultrasonography is important for early diagnosis and treatment monitoring.

Abstract
PURPOSE The recent focus on the roles of N-linked glycoproteins in carcinogenesis across various malignancies has prompted our exploration of aberrantly expressed glycoproteins responsible for HCC progression and potential therapeutic strategy. METHODS Mass spectrometry was applied to initially identify abnormally expressed glycoproteins in HCC, which was further assessed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining. The role of selected glycoprotein on HCC development and underlying mechanism was systematically investigated by colony formation, mouse xenograft, RNA-sequencing and western blot assays, etc. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and luciferase assays were performed to explore potential transcription factors (TFs) of selected glycoprotein. The regulation of repaglinide (RPG) on expression of lumican and downstream effectors was assessed by western blot and IHC, while its impact on malignant phenotypes of HCC was explored through in vitro and in vivo analyses, including a murine NASH-HCC model established using western diet and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). RESULTS Lumican exhibited upregulation in both serum and tumor tissue, with elevated expression associated with an inferior prognosis in HCC patients. Knockdown of lumican resulted in significantly reduced growth of HCC in vitro and in vivo. Mechanically, lumican promoted HCC malignant phenotypes by inhibiting the p53/p21 signaling pathway. Forkhead Box O3 (FOXO3) was identified as the TF of lumican that transcriptionally enhanced its expression. Without silencing FOXO3, RPG blocked the binding of FOXO3 to the promoter region of lumican, thereby inhibiting the activation of lumican/p53/p21 axis. Mice treated with RPG developed fewer and smaller HCCs than those in the control group at 24 weeks after establishment. CONCLUSION Our results indicate that RPG prevented the development and progression of HCC via alteration of FOXO3/lumican/p53 axis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a major global health concern, especially among individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Given the crucial role of proteins in various biological processes, this study aimed to elucidate the aetiological role and predictive performance of protein biomarkers on incident CHD in individuals with and without T2D. METHODS The discovery cohort included 1492 participants from the Cooperative Health Research in the Region of Augsburg (KORA) S4 study with 147 incident CHD cases (45 vs. 102 cases in the group with T2D and without T2D, respectively) during 15.6 years of follow-up. The validation cohort included 888 participants from the KORA-Age1 study with 70 incident CHD cases (19 vs. 51 cases in the group with T2D and without T2D, respectively) during 6.9 years of follow-up. We measured 233 plasma proteins related to cardiovascular disease and inflammation using proximity extension assay technology. Associations of proteins with incident CHD were assessed using Cox regression and Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Predictive models were developed using priority-Lasso and were evaluated on top of Framingham risk score variables using the C-index, category-free net reclassification index (cfNRI), and relative integrated discrimination improvement (IDI). RESULTS We identified two proteins associated with incident CHD in individuals with and 29 in those without baseline T2D, respectively. Six of these proteins are novel candidates for incident CHD. MR suggested a potential causal role for hepatocyte growth factor in CHD development. The developed four-protein-enriched model for individuals with baseline T2D (ΔC-index: 0.017; cfNRI: 0.253; IDI: 0.051) and the 12-protein-enriched model for individuals without baseline T2D (ΔC-index: 0.054; cfNRI: 0.462; IDI: 0.024) consistently improved CHD prediction in the discovery cohort, while in the validation cohort, significant improvements were only observed for selected performance measures (with T2D: cfNRI: 0.633; without T2D: ΔC-index: 0.038; cfNRI: 0.465). CONCLUSIONS This study identified novel protein biomarkers associated with incident CHD in individuals with and without T2D and reaffirmed previously reported protein candidates. These findings enhance our understanding of CHD pathophysiology and provide potential targets for prevention and treatment.

Abstract
The sensitivity of fluorescent sensors is crucial for their applications. In this study, we propose a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-coated optical fibre-hybrid waveguide-fibre sensing structure for ultrasensitive fluorescence detection. In such a structure, the MIP coated-hybrid waveguide acts as a sensing probe, and the two co-axially connected optical fibres act as a highly efficient probing light launcher and a fluorescence signal collector, respectively. For the dual-layered waveguide sensing probe, the inner hybrid waveguide core was fabricated using a hollow quartz nanoparticle-hybridized polymer composite with a low refractive index, and the outer MIP coating layer possesses a high refractive index. Simulations showed that this dual-layer configuration can cause light propagation from the waveguide core to the MIP sensing layer with an efficiency of 98%, which is essential for detection. To validate this concept, we adopted a popular fluorescent dye, rhodamine B, to evaluate the sensing characteristics of the proposed system. We achieved an extremely low limit of detection of approximately 1.3 × 10-19 g ml-1 (approximately 0.27 aM).

Abstract
Increasing evidence indicates that innate immune cells also possess immunological memory. Microglia are brain-resident innate immune cells and execute inflammatory and phagocytic functions upon environmental stimulation, during which processes triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) plays an important regulatory role. However, although microglia are known to exhibit innate immune memory related to inflammation when subjected to continuous inflammatory stimuli, whether microglia exhibit innate immune memory related to phagocytosis and whether TREM2 participates in innate immune memory of microglia remain unknown. Herein, we treated WT and Trem2 KO mice with peripheral injection of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) to induce microglial activation or microglial immune tolerance. We found that Tnfα and Il-1β expression levels in the hippocampi were significantly elevated after 1xLPS and then dramatically decreased after 4xLPS in both WT and Trem2 KO mice; and their level changes were indistinguishable between WT and Trem2 KO mice. Moreover, 1xLPS significantly promoted microglial phagocytosis of synapses and caused microglial morphology changes resembling activated status in both WT and Trem2 KO mice. However, 4xLPS significantly reduced synapse phagocytosis and largely reversed morphology changes in WT microglia. While 4xLPS had no effect on reducing synapse phagocytosis in Trem2 KO microglia. RNA-seq analysis revealed that TREM2 deficiency reprogrammed complement and phagosome-related transcriptional landscape during immune tolerance. Our results demonstrate that microglia also exhibit immune tolerance related to phagocytosis of synapses and that TREM2 plays a crucial role in this process possibly through regulating complement system and phagosome-related gene expressions.
