Abstract
S-RNase is a 25 kDa pistil-specific protein associated with gametophytic self-incompatibility. The S-RNase is secreted into the transmitting tissue of the pistil and is responsible for the discrimination of pollen S-alleles. Crystals of Japanese pear S(3)-RNase were obtained by the hanging-drop vapour-diffusion method. Preliminary X-ray data showed that the crystals diffract to a 1.5 A resolution and belong to the space group P2(1), with unit-cell parameters a = 45.4, b = 52.4, c = 47.4 A, alpha = gamma = 90, beta = 106.5 degrees.

Abstract
In vivo and in vitro studies were conducted using transgenic mice with 1.8-fold increased SOD activity in the cytoplasmic fraction compared to normal mice in order to evaluate the role of cytoplasmic superoxide dismutase (SOD) in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. In the in vivo study, after inducing 15 min 70% partial hepatic ischemia followed by 45 min reperfusion, we determined the plasma levels of ALT, hyaluronic acid, and phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxide (PCOOH) as the membranous lipoperoxide of the hepatic tissue. In addition, in vitro ischemia-reperfusion studies for cultured hepatocytes were conducted in an anaerobic chamber that could create a hypoxic or oxygen-rich environment in order to clarify the amelioration of reperfusion injuries in the SOD rich hepatocytes. High levels of ALT and PCOOH were found as a result of reperfusion in normal mice, while a suppression of the increase in these levels was noted in the transgenic mice. In both groups, the hyaluronic acid levels were not modified. These results suggest that intracellular superoxide production is involved in the mechanism of hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury, and that an improvement of the ability to eliminate intracellular superoxide species can contribute to the prevention of reperfusion injury.

Abstract
We experienced 5 cases of liver metastases from colorectal cancer, in which hepatic resection was carried out after down sizing by hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy. In addition, a histological study about the effect of chemotherapy on the liver tumor was performed. Primary lesions were located at the sigmoid colon (2), cecum (1), descending colon (1) and rectum (1). We carried out hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy using mainly 5-FU. The total amount of 5-FU was 10-81 g. Tumor volumes were reduced by 12.5-24%, and they were judged PR. However, surgery was indicated due to obstruction of the proper hepatic artery or other side effects. Postoperative courses were uneventful and the hospital stays were from 17-61 days, and all patients were still alive in tumor-free condition at writing. By the histological study of the excised specimen, we recognized not only remarkable fibrous changes or calcifications but also overt viable cancerous cells. We conclude that the option of hepatic resection after controlling the development of the cancer by hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy is a rational strategy of treatment for liver metastasis from colorectal cancer.

Abstract
We have isolated a rat novel multispecific organic anion transporter, moat1. The isolated clones were originated by alternative splicing of the moat1 mRNA. The nucleotide sequences predict a protein of 682 amino acids with moderate sequence similarity to LST-1, the oatp family, and the prostaglandin transporter. Northern blot analysis of rat moat1 identified a predominant transcript of 4.4 kilonucleotides in all tissues. Northern blot and in situ hybridization analyses of rat brain further indicated that moat1 mRNA is widely distributed in neuronal cells of the central nervous system, especially in the hippocampus and cerebellum. moat1 transports prostaglandin D(2) (K(m); 35.5 nM), leukotriene C(4) (K(m); 3.2 microM) and taurocholate (K(m); 17.6 microM) in a sodium-independent manner. moat1 also transports prostaglandin E(1), E(2), thromboxane B(2), and iloprost but not dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate and digoxin, of which the substrate specificity is similar, but definitively different from those of any other organic anion transporters.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Oxygen-derived free radicals are believed to be responsible for the hepatocellular injury leading to liver failure following ischemia-reperfusion in liver, endotoxemia and many other life-threatening illnesses. This study was designed to investigate the reactive oxygen species interaction in lipid peroxidation, the adenosine and energy charge levels of liver cells, and total glutathione content in ischemic-reperfusion injury of liver in rat. METHODOLOGY To prevent intestinal congestion during the clamping of vascular structures, subcutaneous transposition of the spleen was done beforehand. Four to six weeks later, after the development of natural portal-systemic shunts, occlusion of the portal vein, hepatic artery and bile duct was performed for different periods; blood and liver samples were taken at different intervals after the release. On the basis of the ischemia-reperfusion time, the rats were divided into the following 9 groups: 30/0, 30/30, 30/60, 60/0, 60/30, 60/60, 90/0, 90/30, and 90/60. The following parameters were measured: total hepatic glutathione content, adenosine values (ATP, ADP, AMP), energy charge, phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxide (PCOOH) concentrations in liver and plasma, and serum transaminases (AST, ALT). Decreased liver glutathione stores (an indicator of increased oxidative stress), increased serum hepatic transaminases (an indicator of hepatocellular injury), and increased PCOOH (an indicator of cellular-membrane lipid peroxidation) were noted. RESULTS The ATP level and energy charge diminished significantly with the increase in duration of ischemia and reperfusion. A close correlation between the PCOOH levels in plasma and liver was observed. Extreme damage was noted in the 90-minute ischemia with 60-minute reperfusion group. The hepatic total glutathione level was reduced to the lowest level in the 90/60 group and it correlated with the energy charge level, denoting the highest degree of oxidative stress sustained by the liver cells in this group. CONCLUSIONS These results indicated that prolonged hepatic ischemia with reperfusion produced bursts of oxygen-derived free radicals which overwhelmed the defense mechanisms of the cells, with a resultant decrease in energy charge associated with an increase in membrane lipid peroxidation. These findings not only provide confirmation of previously reported hepatocellular injury by free radicals generated after reperfusion, but they also establish the use of PCOOH analysis in liver and plasma as a sensitive and specific indicator of the injury process in time. The plasma PCOOH level may be a useful indicator of free radical induced hepatic membrane lipid peroxidation during ischemia-reperfusion, and might be employed in clinical studies of the therapeutic effects of drugs in various liver diseases, as well as for determining the prognosis after different kinds of hepatic operations.

Abstract
We report a patient with splenic vein occlusion (SVO) secondary to tuberculosis. A 17-year-old male patient with mild epigastric pain and splenomegaly was found to have gastric varices by gastroscopy, and SVO by selective angiography. At operation, the splenic vein was occluded by hard fibrous tissue at the splenic hilum, and thus a splenectomy was performed. A microscopic examination of the tissue revealed caseous necrosis surrounded by epithelioid cells and Langhans-type giant cells. Although there were no other findings suggesting intestinal tuberculosis, it seemed that tuberculous lymphadenitis of the splenic hilum most likely caused the occlusion of the splenic vein. Because specific tests for tuberculosis were negative in both immunohistochemical staining for bacille Calmette-Guérin and polymerase chain reaction of DNA for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the time of infection was assumed to have occurred a long time before. SVO can sometimes be seen in pancreatic diseases, but this patient with tuberculosis appears to be the first such reported case in the English literature.

Abstract
20S proteasomes from higher eukaryotes have immunological functions rather than those from archibacteria or yeast. To clarify the mechanism of the sorting and production of antigen-presenting peptides, it is important and worthwhile to determine the structure of mammalian proteasomes using a third generation synchrotron radiation source. Here we report new crystal forms of 20S proteasomes from bovine liver and preliminary structure analysis of them. The crystals belong to the same space group but have different cell dimensions. One crystal (form I) belongs to space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with unit cell dimensions of a = 124.8, b =197.4, c =323.8 A, and diffracts to 3.0 A resolution. The other crystal (form II) belongs to the same space group with a =115.1, b =205.6, c =316. 0 A, and diffracts to 4.0 A resolution. The diffraction data for the form I crystal provided an interpretable electron density map for presenting the structural differences from yeast proteasomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS It has been speculated that the veins of the gallbladder join the intrahepatic portal veins supplying the Couinaud's S4a-S5. This has been the theoretical ground for the resection of these 2 hepatic subsegments in advanced gallbladder carcinoma. However, no consensus has been reached on this concept. METHODOLOGY The current study describes the non-neoplastic perfusion defects in connection with the gallbladder bed in 100 consecutive hepatic CTAP (computed tomographies during arterial portography). The suitability of S4a and S5 subsegmentectomies of the liver for advanced gallbladder carcinoma was also investigated by examining CTAP images of the branches of the portal vein involved in the perfusion defect. RESULTS Two types of gallbladder venous perfusion were observed: 1) sphenoid distribution from the gallbladder bed into the P4a (37%), P5 (52%) and P6 (3%), and 2) perfusion into the P4 (9%) or directly into the middle hepatic vein (9%) after communicating with the hepatic hilum at the dorsal side of S4. CONCLUSIONS These results support liver resection at S4a and S5 as the surgical approach for cases of advanced gallbladder carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Recently, the Japanese Classification on Cancer of the Biliary Tract was revised and adopted the new comprehensive staging that is similar to UICC's TNM classification. We should be paying close attention to the significance of newly defined extensive factors of carcinomas on the long-term prognosis. METHODOLOGY The surgical outcome for 99 patients who underwent resected middle (Bm) and lower (Bi) bile duct carcinomas was reviewed in order to evaluate the suitability of the surgical procedures employed for their treatment, namely, standard pancreatoduodenectomy for Bi carcinoma and bile duct resection with D2 lymph node dissection for Bm carcinoma. RESULTS The overall 5-year cumulative survival rate (operative death excluded) of Bm and Bi carcinoma patients was 37.4% and the 5-year survival rate of the patients in whom surgical curability (curA) was accomplished was 51.6%. Recently, a new prognostic factor, "t-category", which indicates the degree of pericholedochal neoplastic invasion was proposed in the 4th edition of the Japanese General Rules for Surgical and Pathological Studies on Cancer of the Biliary Tract. The 10-year survival rates by t-category were 49.1% (t1), 19.7% (t2), and 0% (t3 and t4) respectively. For Bm carcinoma, the patients undergoing bile duct resection under the condition of curA showed excellent prognoses. For Bi carcinoma, the patients fulfilling particular histological criteria, i.e., those concerning the histological depth of neoplastic invasion (m, fm, panc1a), duodenal involvement (du0, du1), vascular invasion (pv0), pericholedochal neoplastic invasion (t1), lymph node metastasis (n0), and comprehensive stage I, had good postoperative outcomes. Taking into account the fact that the metastatic rate of paragastric lymph nodes was 1.3%, the cases of panc0,1 should be operated by pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy. The overall 5-year survival rates including far-advanced cases were 39.9% in Bm carcinoma patients and 36.9% in Bi carcinoma patients. However, these postoperative outcomes are far from satisfactory. CONCLUSIONS Therefore, we concluded that pancreatoduodenectomy and pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy with extended D3 lymphadenectomy combined with systematic multimodal therapy are indicated in each and every case of Bm and Bi carcinoma.

Abstract
Reg (regenerating gene) was isolated as a gene specifically expressed in regenerating islets (Terazono, K., Yamamoto, H., Takasawa, S., Shiga, K., Yonemura, Y., Tochino, Y., and Okamoto, H. (1988) J. Biol. Chem. 263, 2111-2114). Rat and human Reg gene products, Reg/REG proteins, have been demonstrated to stimulate islet beta-cell growth in vitro and in vivo and to ameliorate experimental diabetes. In the present study, we isolated a cDNA for the Reg protein receptor from a rat islet cDNA library. The cDNA encoded a cell surface 919-amino acid protein, and the cells into which the cDNA had been introduced bound Reg protein with high affinity. When the cDNA was introduced into RINm5F cells, a pancreatic beta-cell line that shows Reg-dependent growth, the transformants exhibited significant increases in the incorporation of 5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine as well as in the cell numbers in response to Reg protein. A homology search revealed that the cDNA is a homologue to a human multiple exostoses-like gene, the function of which has hitherto been unknown. These results strongly suggest that the receptor is encoded by the exostoses-like gene and mediates a growth signal of Reg protein for beta-cell regeneration.

Abstract
Hepatic phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxide (PCOOH) was studied intensively to delineate its role in the altered pathophysiology of liver failure associated with endotoxemic shock. Endotoxemia was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in three models using rats. Model 1 consisted of normal healthy rats; model 2, cirrhotic rats; and model 3, rats treated with catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Samples were taken before CLP, then 12 h and 24 h following CLP. A progressive and significant increase in serum endotoxin was seen in all models; however, a significantly low energy charge (EC) and high PCOOH were seen in models 1 and 2, whereas no change was observed in model 3. The regional blood flow remained unchanged throughout the experiment in models 1 and 3, but not in model 2. An initial increase in alpha-tocopherol was seen in model 1. The survival rate was markedly better in model 3 than in models 1 or 2. The fall in EC corresponded to the increase in serum endotoxin as well as to the increase in tissue PCOOH in models 1 and 2. It was more likely that the elevated lipid peroxidation in model 1 resulted from endotoxemia rather than from tissue hypoperfusion. The early increase in alpha-tocopherol that occurred in models 1 and 2, but not in model 3, indicated the antiradical defense response to oxidative injury. Thus, antioxidant therapy significantly improved the survival rate and tissue adenine nucleotide level in spite of the increased serum endotoxin level.

Abstract
Recently, simultaneous hepatectomy and pancreatoduodenectomy has been performed for the treatment of some biliary tract cancers in Japan. Postoperative hepatic failure is a common and potentially fatal complication. The aim of this study was to examine the reduction in the rate of liver regeneration after 70% hepatectomy (Hx) alone or in combination with 70% pancreatectomy (HPx). Male Sprague-Dawley rats underwent hepatectomy or simultaneous hepatectomy and pancreatectomy. The ratio of liver weight to body weight, the labeling index of hepatocytes in vivo, and DNA synthesis of the hepatocytes and/or Kupffer cells in primary culture were analyzed. The ratio of liver weight to body weight and the labeling index in HPx rat were found to be significantly lower than those values in Hx rats. There were no significant differences in plasma alanine aminotransferase levels between the two groups. The inhibitory effect on DNA synthesis was observed with coculture of hepatocytes and Kupffer cells when the portal plasma obtained 1 hour after operation was added. We further observed that the conditioned medium of Kupffer cells stimulated by the addition of the portal plasma that was obtained 1 hour after HPx inhibited DNA synthesis of hepatocytes. This effect was abolished after incubation at 56 degrees C for 30 minutes. These results strongly suggest the existence of a growth inhibitory factor in portal plasma after HPx. This heat-labile growth inhibitory factor was released from Kupffer cells and would appear to act on hepatocytes in a paracrine manner.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Recently, we isolated a new complementary DNA (cDNA) encoding human liver-specific organic anion transporter (LST-1), representing the multispecificity of human liver. The aim of this study was to isolate a rat counterpart of human LST-1 and examine the expression regulation of its messenger RNA (mRNA) to clarify the molecular basis of cholestasis. METHODS A rat liver cDNA library was screened with human LST-1 cDNA as a probe. Xenopus oocyte expression system was used for functional analysis. Northern blot analyses were performed using the isolated cDNA (termed rlst-1). The bile duct ligation model and the cecum ligation and puncture model were used for expression analyses. RESULTS rlst-1 encodes 652 amino acids, predicting at least 11 transmembrane regions. The overall homology with human LST-1 was 60.2%, which is the highest among all known organic anion transporters. rlst-1 also belongs to the same new gene family as human LST-1, located between the organic anion transporter family and the prostaglandin transporter. rlst-1 preferably transports taurocholate (K(m), 9.45 micromol/L) in an Na(+)-independent manner. The rlst-1 mRNA is exclusively expressed in the liver. In both the bile duct ligation model and the cecum ligation and puncture model, mRNA expression levels of rlst-1 were down-regulated. CONCLUSIONS rlst-1 is a counterpart of human LST-1 and is one of the important transporters in rat liver for the clearance of bile acid. The expression of rlst-1 may be under feedback regulation of cholestasis by biliary obstruction and/or sepsis.

Abstract
We have isolated a novel liver-specific organic anion transporter, LST-1, that is expressed exclusively in the human, rat, and mouse liver. LST-1 is a new gene family located between the organic anion transporter family and prostaglandin transporter. LST-1 transports taurocholate (Km = 13.6 microM) in a sodium-independent manner. LST-1 also shows broad substrate specificity. It transports conjugated steroids (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, estradiol-17beta-glucuronide, and estrone-3-sulfate), eicosanoids (prostaglandin E2, thromboxane B2, leukotriene C4, leukotriene E4), and thyroid hormones (thyroxine, Km = 3.0 microM and triiodothyronine, Km = 2.7 microM), reflecting hepatic multispecificity. LST-1 is probably the most important transporter in human liver for clearance of bile acids and organic anions because hepatic levels of another organic anion transporter, OATP, is very low. This is also the first report of the human molecule that transports thyroid hormones.

Abstract
During the monooxygenase reaction catalyzed by cytochrome P450cam (P450cam), a ternary complex of P450cam, reduced putidaredoxin, and d-camphor is formed as an obligatory reaction intermediate. When ligands such as CO, NO, and O2 bind to the heme iron of P450cam in the intermediate complex, the EPR spectrum of reduced putidaredoxin with a characteristic signal at 346 millitesla at 77 K changed into a spectrum having a new signal at 348 millitesla. The experiment with O2 was carried out by employing a mutant P450cam with Asp251 --> Asn or Gly where the rate of electron transfer from putidaredoxin to oxyferrous P450cam is considerably reduced. Such a ligand-induced EPR spectral change of putidaredoxin was also shown in situ in Pseudomonas putida. Mutations introduced into the neighborhood of the iron-sulfur cluster of putidaredoxin revealed that a Ser44 --> Gly mutation mimicked the ligand-induced spectral change of putidaredoxin. Arg109 and Arg112, which are in the putative putidaredoxin binding site of P450cam, were essential for the spectral changes of putidaredoxin in the complex. These results indicate that a change in the P450cam active site that is the consequence of an altered spin state is transmitted to putidaredoxin within the ternary complex and produces a conformational change of the 2Fe-2S active center.

Abstract
Bile accumulation in the peritoneal cavity after partial hepatectomy reduces hepatic regeneration. In 70% of hepatectomized rats with bile peritonitis, hepatic DNA synthesis showed a delayed initiation and diminished peak level. Because intraperitoneal bile significantly accelerated lipid peroxidation and decreased energy metabolism in the liver remnant, all hepatectomized rats with bile peritonitis died within 7 days. Subcutaneous administration of exogenous combined antioxidants SOD and catalase dramatically reduced lipid peroxidation and improved the survival rate. Although the slightly elevated serum endotoxin level in rats with peritonitis may play a role in the inhibition of hepatic regeneration, the result suggest that intraperitoneal accumulation of bile components may also directly accelerate lipid peroxidation in the liver remnant, inhibiting the hepatic regeneration.

Abstract
In patients with colectomy, epithelial transport function in the remnant small intestine can be regulated in response to the increased fecal electrolyte and fluid loss. Using a rat colectomy model, we investigated the Na+ and K+ transport mechanisms underlying the intestinal response. Proctocolectomy with ileoanal anastomosis was performed on rats. The small intestinal mucosa was mounted in Ussing chambers; then short-circuit currents and 22Na+ fluxes were measured. mRNA expression of the epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC) was determined by Northern blotting. Amiloride-sensitive, electrogenic Na+ absorption appeared in the ileum after proctocolectomy. This functional change was accompanied by the chronological induction of mRNAs for alpha-, beta-, and gamma-subunits of the ENaC in the ileum. Tetraethylammonium-sensitive short-circuit current was also activated. We conclude that electrogenic Na+ absorption and probably K+ secretion are induced in the ileum after proctocolectomy. This induction of electrogenic Na+ absorption is probably mediated by the increase in the mRNA levels for all three types of subunits of the ENaC and may contribute to the recovery from the increased fecal Na+ loss.

Abstract
Hepatic resection has been increasing in frequency in the management of metastatic or primary neoplasms of the liver. Although mortality for this procedure has steadily decreased, the associated morbidity remains high. Morbidity is mainly associated with operative time and blood loss, especially in jaundiced and cirrhotic patients. During hepatic resection, control of bleeding from various sources is the most important problem faced by surgeons. During conventional lobectomy, despite prior control of hepatic artery and portal vein to that lobe, bleeding still occurs from the opposite lobe or back flow from hepatic veins. We usually apply Pringle's maneuver for hemostasis, but consequently there is postoperative hepatic dysfunction. We have previously investigated methods for vascular occlusion at the site of liver resection. We developed a new absorbable polyglycolic acid-based tape (breadth, 3 mm; length, 70 cm) for use in hepatic mass ligation, as well as two types of ligature apparatus. Hemostasis was achieved with these devices, and all lobar, segmental, and non-anatomic resections were performed without prior control of the portal venous system, hepatic arterial inflow, and hepatic venous outflow before parenchymal resection. This significantly shortened the operative time, as well as decreasing the blood loss during hepatic resection, with consequent reduction of postoperative morbidity. The use of this absorbable tape may reduce the incidence of local infection, abscess formation, and septicemia.

Abstract
We have measured the rebinding of carbon monoxide (CO) to some distal mutants of myoglobin (Mb) in the time range from 10(-8) to 10(-1) s by flash photolysis, in which the photodissociated CO rebinds to the heme iron without escaping to the solvent water from the protein matrix. We have found that the double mutants [His64-->Val/Val68-->Thr (H64V/V68T) and His64-->Val/Val68-->Ser (H64V/V68S)] have an extremely large geminate yield (70-80%) in water at 5 degreesC, in contrast to the 7% of the geminate yield of wild-type Mb. The CO geminate yields for these two mutants are the largest in those of Mb mutants reported so far, showing that the two mutants have a unique heme environment that favors CO geminate rebinding. Comparing the crystal structures and 1H-NMR and vibrational spectral data of H64V/V68T and H64V/V68S with those of other mutants, we discuss factors that may control the nanosecond geminate CO rebinding and CO migration in the protein matrix.

Abstract
Though SMANCS-Lipiodol suspension has advantages over tumor regression, its disadvantages should also be considered: (1) Anaphylactic reaction due to its high molecular weight. (2) Since it readily destroys the tissue, a smaller dose and repeated administration are required. (3) Due to its low viscosity, it easily enters the arterioles and causes damage even to the extrahepatic organs. When this drug is infused into the left hepatic artery in subsegmental fashion, it enters the neighboring gastric tissues through the communication of the left hepatic and left gastric arteries, and this ultimately causes intractable gastric ulcers. Considering the above facts, this drug should be used carefully.

Abstract
Distal pocket mutations at the E7 position (His64) of sperm whale deoxymyoglobin (deoxyMb) are used as a probe of distal pocket polarity and hydration. Changes of two key spectroscopic markers, the Fe-His(F8) stretch in the resonance Raman spectrum and the position of band III in the absorption spectrum, are monitored as the His64Tyr, His64Phe, His64Leu, and His64Gly mutations alter the distal heme pocket environment. The Fe-His vibration for the Phe, Leu, and Gly mutants is shifted to a lower frequency by 1-2 cm-1 relative to the Tyr mutant, wild type (WT), and native deoxyMb. Band III shifts to the red by approximately 4 nm ( approximately 70 cm-1) relative to WT and native deoxyMb for all the His64 mutants examined in this work. We correlate the small shift in the Fe-His frequency to the local electrostatic environment directly above the heme iron, affected by the presence of a localized water molecule in the heme pocket that is hydrogen-bonded to the E7 residue. The position of band III is roughly correlated to the displacement of the iron from the heme plane; however, the relatively large scatter in this correlation, as well as its dependence on distal pocket mutations, suggests that the heme pocket environment, particularly the E7 residue, also affects the energy of this transition.

Abstract
A 47-year-old man with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) at anterior and medical segment in the liver was treated with hepatic arterial infusion of Zinostatin Stimalamer-lipiodol suspension (SMANCS). After the 2nd infusion of SMANCS, the accumulation of lipiodol in the tumor was not good (Grade II), so additional administration was undertaken at five-weeks intervals. His systolic blood pressure immediately decreased from 120 to 60 mmHg, and he had numbness of hands, shaking chills, sweating, chest pain and numerous urticaria-like red exanthema. In spite of treatment by anti-shock agents such as steroid and catecholamines, these symptoms did not disappear, but antihistaminics greatly improved them without any serious side effects. Because of the remarkable effects of the antihistaminics and possibility of antibody production (IgE) after repeated infusions of high molecular SMANCS, this patient may have suffered anaphylactic shock caused by massive histamine release from mast cells.
