Abstract
Methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MDP) has been speculated to induce mineralization, but there has been no convincing evidence of its ability to induce intrafibrillar mineralization. Polymers play a critical role in biomimetic mineralization as stabilizers/inducers of amorphous precursors. Hence, MDP-induced biomimetic mineralization without polymer additives has not been fully verified or elucidated. By combining 3-dimensional stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy, surface zeta potentials, contact angle measurements, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with circular dichroism, we show that amphiphilic MDP can not only demineralize dentin by releasing protons as an acidic functional monomer but also infiltrate collagen fibrils (including dentin collagen), unwind the triple helical structure by breaking hydrogen bonds, and finally immobilize within collagen. MDP-bound collagen functions as a huge collagenous phosphoprotein (HCPP), in contrast to chemical phosphorylation modifications. HCPP can induce biomimetic mineralization itself without polymer additives by alternatively attracting calcium and phosphate through electrostatic attraction. Therefore, we herein propose the dual functions of amphiphilic MDP monomer with de- and remineralizing ability. MDP in the free state can demineralize dentin substrates by releasing protons, whereas MDP in the collagen-bound state as HCPP can induce intrafibrillar mineralization. The dual functions of MDP monomer with de- and remineralization properties might create a new epoch in adhesive dentistry and preventive dentistry.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of Modified Sijunzi Decoction on the diversity of intestinal microflora of in severe scald rabbits based on 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) high-throughput sequencing. Methods: The experimental research method was adopted. Ninety Japanese big-ear rabbits regardless gender, aged 6 to 8 months, were randomly divided into normal control group, scald alone group, scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group, and scald+high-dose group, with 18 rabbits in each group. The rabbits in normal control group were free to eat and drink, and the rabbits in scald alone group, scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group, and scald+high-dose group were intragastrically administered normal saline, 0.2 g/mL Modified Sijunzi Decoction, 1.0 g/mL Modified Sijunzi Decoction, and 5.0 g/mL Modified Sijunzi Decoction, respectively for 7 days after sustaining full-thickness scalding of 30% total body surface area. On the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after grouping, the levels of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 1β (IL-1β), and IL-10 in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in each group were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the number of samples in each group at each time point was 6. According to the above experimental results, another 9 rabbits were selected and divided into normal control group, scald alone group and scald+medium-dose group, with 3 rabbits in each group. The grouping and treatment methods of rabbits in each group were the same as before. On the 7th day after grouping, the V3, V4 region of 16S rRNA of ileum mucosa of rabbits in three groups were sequenced by high-throughput sequencing technology. The number of quality bacteria was counted by QIME software. The classifications of phylum, class, order, family and genus of microflora were analyzed by RDP Classifier software. The α diversity (Ace, Chao1, Simpson, and Shannon indexes) and β diversity were analyzed by Illumina MiSeq sequencing technology, and the number of experiment samples in each group was 3. Data were statistically analyzed with analysis for variance of factorial design, SNK test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: Compared with that in normal control group, the levels of TNF-α of ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald alone group, scald+low-dose group, and scald+high-dose group on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after grouping and scald+medium-dose group on the 1st and 3rd day after grouping were all significantly increased (P<0.01), the levels of IL-1β in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald alone group, scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group and scald+high-dose group on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after grouping were all significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01), and the levels of IL-10 in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald alone group, scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group, and scald+high-dose group on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day after grouping were all significantly decreased (P<0.01). Compared with that on the 3rd day after grouping, the levels of TNF-α and IL-1β in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald alone group and the levels of IL-10 in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in normal control group, scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group, and scald+high-dose group on the 7th day after grouping were all significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01); and the levels of TNF-α in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald+low-dose group, scald+medium-dose group, and scald+high-dose group on the 7th day after grouping were all significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the levels of IL-1β in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits both in scald+medium-dose group and scald+high-dose group on the 7th day after grouping were significantly decreased (P<0.05 or P<0.01), and the levels of IL-10 in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits in scald alone group on the 7th day after grouping was significantly decreased (P<0.01). On the 7th day after grouping, the high-quality sequences obtained from the microflora in ileum mucosa of rabbits in normal control group, scald alone group, and scald+medium-dose group were 96 023, 107 365, and 95 921, respectively. At the classification level of phylum, class, order, family, and genus of the microflora in ileum mucosa of rabbits in three groups were all Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes, Clostridium and Bacteroidetes, Clostridium and Bacteroidetes, Rumenobacteriaceae and Clostridium and Bacteroideaceae, Clostridium and Bacteroidetes and rumen bacteria mainly, while the percentage of microflora in each group was different. There were no significant differences in Ace, Chao1, Simpson, Shannon indices (P>0.05), and no obvious difference in β diversity of microflora in ileal mucosa tissue of rabbits among three groups. Conclusions: After severe scalding, the inflammatory response of rabbit ileal mucosa tissue is obvious and increased in a time-dependent manner. Modified Sijunzi Decoction can reduce inflammation with optimal therapeutic concentration of 1.0 g/mL. The technology of high-throughput sequencing can reflect the structural composition of the intestinal microflora accurately. The ileal microflora of the severe scald rabbit can be regulated by the administration of Modified Sijunzi Decoction.

Abstract
Algal blooms and eutrophication in natural surface water not only pose a threat to human health, but also adversely affect the water purification process. Ultrafiltration (UF) has been proved to be effective for the retention of algal cells, but its further application is still restricted by the relatively limited removal of algal organics and membrane fouling. To enhance the UF performance, a synergistic process using calcium peroxide and ferrous sulfate (CaO2/FeSO4) was proposed for the treatment of Microcystis aeruginosa-laden water. The results suggested that the removal of algal cells and organics, fluorescent components were effectively increased with the synergism of CaO2 and FeSO4. The particle size distribution and morphology revealed that the size of algal pollutants apparently increased due to the formation of algal flocs. With CaO2/FeSO4 pretreatment, the terminal specific flux of polyethersulfone and polyvinylidene fluoride membranes were increased by 75.0% and 56.5%, individually. The fouling resistances were significantly reduced, and the fouling mechanism transition to cake filtration was delayed. The membrane interface properties including morphologies and functional groups were characterized, further verifying the effectiveness. The in-situ formed Fe3+ integrated with Ca(OH)2 showed excellent coagulation effect, thus promoting the agglomeration of algal foulants. Simultaneously, the generated hydroxyl radical could improve the oxidative degradation of algal organics. In conclusion, the CaO2/FeSO4 strategy has great advantages and application prospects in enhancing UF performance for Microcystis aeruginosa-laden water treatment.

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia. Tau hyperphosphorylation and amyloid β (Aβ) deposition are the key pathological hallmarks of AD. Recent studies have shown that periodontitis is a significant risk factor for AD. The periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis and its virulence factors have been shown to initiate and promote the hallmark pathologies and behavioral symptoms of AD. A possible link between Treponema denticola, another main periodontal pathogen, and AD has been reported. However, the role of T. denticola in AD pathogenesis is still unclear, and whether T. denticola and P. gingivalis exert a synergistic effect to promote AD development needs to be further studied. In this study, we investigated whether oral infection with T. denticola caused tau hyperphosphorylation in the hippocampi of mice and explored the underlying mechanisms. Orally administered T. denticola induced alveolar bone resorption, colonized brain tissues, and increased the activity of the phosphokinase GSK3β by activating neuroinflammation in the hippocampus, thus promoting the hyperphosphorylation of the tau protein at Ser396, Thr181, and Thr231 in mice. An in vitro study with BV2 and N2a cell models of T. denticola invasion also verified the role of this pathogen in tau phosphorylation. T. denticola and P. gingivalis were not found to exert a synergistic effect on tau phosphorylation. In summary, these findings provide new insight into the important role of T. denticola in AD pathogenesis, providing biological connections between periodontal diseases and AD.

Abstract
In this study, the effective removal of organoarsenic by the combined process of "chlorination + Fe(II)" was achieved. Chlorine could effectively degrade roxarsone (ROX) over pH from 5 to 10. The fitting results of acid-base protonation model proved that the degradation of ROX was mainly attributed to the reaction of HOCl and deprotonated ROX. The transformation of arsenic species conformed to the fitting results of two-channel kinetic model, in which 32.4% of ROX was oxidized to As(V) via electron transfer pathway (ii) and the rest was converted into monochloro-ROX via electrophilic substitution pathway (i). Humic acid inhibited the degradation of ROX due to the competitive consumption of chlorine and the restraint on the pathway ii. Subsequently, an enhanced removal of total arsenic achieved after chlorination, due to that the generating As(V) and monochloro-ROX were easier adsorbed compared with ROX, over 97.8% of total arsenic was removed by ferric (oxyhydr)oxides which in-situ formed from the oxidation of Fe(II). Additionally, toxicity studies indicated that the acute toxicity was significantly eliminated by adding Fe(II) after chlorination, likely due to the removal of As(V) and chlorinated products. Furthermore, organoarsenic was also effectively removed by the combined process of "chlorination + Fe(II)" in real water.

Abstract
Static analysis is performed for fiber windings to quantitatively control the radial stress at the outer radius of the piezoelectric ceramic tube. The radial stress is verified both experimentally and theoretically, and the dependence of the resonant and material properties of the piezoelectric ceramic tubes on the radial stress is clarified. The resonance frequencies and dielectric loss remain relatively stable, but the relative permittivity and the short circuit elastic constant decrease with the radial stress. The variations of the increased bandwidth and decreased electromechanical coupling coefficient (k31), piezoelectric constant (d31 and g31), and mechanical quality factor (Qm) are associated with the height-to-radius ratio. The properties of three cylindrical transducers applied with various radial stress show similar change tendencies, and a difference of 0.34 MPa radial stress results in a variation of approximately 13 in the bandwidth, 14 in Qm, 15 in k31, d31, and g31, and 16 in the amplitude of the first pulse. These results suggest that the consistency of the radial stress is essential, and it should be relatively small. These findings guide the design and preparation of the enhanced transducer.

Abstract
Precisely tailoring the surface morphology characteristics of the active layers based on bionic inspirations can improve the performance of thin-film composite (TFC) membranes. The remarkable water adsorption and capture abilities of octopus tentacles inspired the construction of a novel TFC nanofiltration (NF) membrane with octopus arm-sucker morphology using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) during interfacial polymerization (IP). The surface morphology, chemical elements, water contact angle (WCA), interfacial free energy (ΔG), electronegativity, and pore size of the membranes were systematically investigated. The optimal membrane exhibited an enhanced water permeance of 22.6 L·m-2·h-1·bar-1, 180% better than that of the TFC-control membrane. In addition, the optimal membrane showed improved single salt rejections and monovalent/divalent ion selectivity and can break the trade-off effect. The antiscaling performance and stability of the membranes were further explored. The construction mechanism of the octopus arm-sucker structure was excavated, in which CNTs and β-CD acted as arm skeletons and suckers, respectively. Furthermore, the customization of the membrane surface and performance was achieved through tuning the individual effects of the arm skeletons and suckers. This study highlights the noteworthy potential of the design and construction of the surface morphology of high-performance NF membranes for environmental application.

Abstract
Polyamide (PA) chemistry-based nanofiltration (NF) membranes have an important role in the field of seawater desalination and wastewater reclamation. Achieving an ultrathin and defect-free active layer via precisely controlled interfacial polymerization (IP) is an effective routine to improve the separation efficiencies of NF membranes. Herein, the morphologies and chemical structures of the thin-film composite (TFC) NF membranes were accurately regulated by tailoring the interfacial reaction temperature during the IP process. This strategy was achieved by controlling the temperature (-15, 5, 20, 35, and 50°) of the oil-phase solutions. The structural compositions, morphological variations, and separation features of the fabricated NF membranes were studied in detail. In addition, the formation mechanisms of the NF membranes featuring different PAs were also proposed and discussed. The temperature-assisted IP (TAIP) method greatly changed the compositions of the resultant PA membranes. A very smooth and thin PA film was obtained for the NF membranes fabricated at a low interfacial temperature; thus, a high 19.2 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 of water permeance and 97.7% of Na2SO4 rejection were observed. With regard to the NF membranes obtained at a high interfacial temperature, a lower water permeance and higher salt rejection with fewer membrane defects were achieved. Impressively, the high interfacial temperature-assisted NF membranes exhibited uniform coffee-ring-like surface morphologies. The special surface-featured NF membrane showed superior separation for selected heavy metals. Rejections of 93.9%, 97.9%, and 87.7% for Cu2+, Mn2+, and Cd2+ were observed with the optimized membrane. Three cycles of fouling tests indicated that NF membranes fabricated at low temperatures exhibited excellent antifouling behavior, whereas a high interface temperature contributed to the formation of NF membranes with high fouling tendency. This study provides an economical, facile, and universal TAIP strategy for tailoring the performances of TFC PA membranes for environmental water treatment.

Abstract
Membrane technology has been widely used in the fields of drinking water treatment with the advantages of pollutants separation. However, membrane fouling has become main obstacle in further application. Graphene oxide (GO) and its functionalized derivatives are considered to be ideal membrane modification materials of membrane fouling control. However, GO coated membranes were suffered from serious flux decline which raises challenges for GO modification. In this study, porous holey graphene oxide (HGO) was synthesized by hydrothermal etched GO to modify UF membranes. Water permeability of HGO membrane was more than twice that of GO membrane at the loading of 0.08 g/m2. At the optimal loading of 0.08 g/m2, the rejection rate of HGO coated membrane on natural organic matter (NOM) such as bovine serum albumin (BSA), sodium alginate (SA) and humic acid (HA) was increased from 55%, 29%, 58%-85%, 72%, 92%, and the contact angle was reduced from 71° to 35° with the HGO coating amount of 0.04 g/m2. Finally, the membrane fouling resistance distribution of each HGO membrane was analyzed given HA as model pollutant, and the effects of HGO on mitigating the organic fouling of Polyethersulfone (PES) membranes were discussed. The total fouling resistance decreased from 3.45 to 1.73 with HGO coating, the irreversible fouling decreased by 62.86%-95.83%. Standard blocking was dominated during filtration. It was also found that increasing the loading of HGO could delay the conversion of pore blocking to the cake layer. Overall, HGO coating has an application prospect for membrane fouling control.

Abstract
Powdered activated carbon (PAC) has turned out to be an efficient adsorbent in drinking water treatment, whereas its application integrated with membrane filtration is still controversial because of the combined fouling effect between organic pollutants and PAC. To this end, an integrated process of combining PAC adsorption-catalytic oxidation and membrane filtration was proposed for natural surface water treatment. The synergistic effect of PAC and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) was confirmed through the generation of reactive oxidation species, and both radical oxidative pathways (•OH, SO4•- and O2•-) and nonradical (1O2 and PMS) pathways involved in the process. The removal efficiency of DOC and UV254 was significantly strengthened by PAC/PMS, with removal rates of 56.1% and 64.9%, respectively. The integration of PAC and PMS could significantly enhance the reduction of fluorescent organics, and pollutants with varying molecular weights. The fouling condition of membrane was dramatically alleviated, with the flux increased by 38.9%, and the reversible and irreversible resistances declined by 79.7% and 48.3%, respectively. The major fouling mechanism was significantly changed, and complete pore blocking always played a dominant role, rather than cake filtration. The effectiveness of PAC/PMS was further verified by the characterization of membrane surface morphologies and functional groups. Moreover, the attractive interactions between foulants and membrane were converted to repulsive interactions with the pretreatment of PAC/PMS. The proposed synergistic process was efficient and convenient, which could significantly improve the purification efficiency of conventional PAC-UF system in drinking water treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical effect of microwave ablation in the treatment of early small liver cancer (≤3 cm). Methods: 103 cases with small liver cancer (tumor number < 3 and maximum tumor diameter < 3 cm) who underwent microwave ablation from November 2016 to November 2018 were retrospectively collected. The rate of residual lesions, recurrence rate one-year after the operation, and surgical complications were observed and grouped according to tumor size (< 2 cm and≥2 cm group) and tumor numbers (solitary and 2 ~ 3 lesion groups). The therapeutic effects of each group were compared and analyzed. Results: The tumor residual rate and one-year recurrence rate of small liver cancer after microwave ablation were 11.7% and 35.0%, respectively. The post-ablation syndrome incidence rate was 52.4%, with no serious adverse events. Compared with tumors < 2 cm, patients with≥2 cm had a higher postoperative residual rate (χ(2) = 7.651, P = 0.006), and the one-year recurrence rate of more solitary nodular tumors was lower (χ(2) = 10.125, P = 0.001). Conclusion: Microwave ablation is a safe and effective treatment for early small liver cancer, and it is more effective for small solitary nodules (< 2 cm).

Abstract
Heightened awareness of additional pretreatment for wastewater, has driven studies towards building a full wastewater-recycling chain wherein the wastewater pretreatment is performed by microalgae themselves. We applied biochemical wastewater from landfill leachate with added K2HPO4 (BWLL + P) directly to microalgal cultivation. The results showed that the pretreatment provided by the 1st cultivation reduced suspended solids by nearly half, greatly boosting microalgal growth, which thus yielded 1.06 g/L of dry mass and 87.06 mg/L·d of biomass productivity. From the 2nd to the 4th cultivation, lipid accumulation in BWLL + P was 1.12-1.27 times and 1.95-2.36 times higher than in BG11 and BWLL, respectively, mainly attributed to the comfortable environment engendered by the microalgal pretreatment and the organic carbon in the wastewater. Strikingly, the biodiesel production fed with BWLL + P could save 99% of the cost compared with in BG11. In combination, our pioneering full wastewater-recycling chain achieved microalgae's self-reliant cultivation, with wastewater nourishment.

Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) play an important role in interstellar chemistry and are subject to high energy photons that can induce excitation, ionization, and fragmentation. Previous studies have demonstrated electronic relaxation of parent PAH monocations over 10-100 femtoseconds as a result of beyond-Born-Oppenheimer coupling between the electronic and nuclear dynamics. Here, we investigate three PAH molecules: fluorene, phenanthrene, and pyrene, using ultrafast XUV and IR laser pulses. Simultaneous measurements of the ion yields, ion momenta, and electron momenta as a function of laser pulse delay allow a detailed insight into the various molecular processes. We report relaxation times for the electronically excited PAH*, PAH+* and PAH2+* states, and show the time-dependent conversion between fragmentation pathways. Additionally, using recoil-frame covariance analysis between ion images, we demonstrate that the dissociation of the PAH2+ ions favors reaction pathways involving two-body breakup and/or loss of neutral fragments totaling an even number of carbon atoms.

Abstract
Molecular targeted drugs are the first choice for systemic treatment of liver cancer. In the past decade, several anti-liver cancer targeted drugs have been launched. More recently, immunotherapy has become a dazzling nova in the field of systemic treatment of liver cancer. Nivolumab and pembrolizumab have been approved as second-line treatments for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treated with sorafenib. However, the effect of single-agent treatment is always unsatisfactory in advanced liver cancer. An increasing number of evidences suggests that molecular targeted drugs have important immunomodulatory effects for liver cancer, and several targeted combined immunotherapies have also shown promising clinical effectiveness. This paper reviews the immunomodulatory effects of several molecular targeted drugs in the field of liver cancer.

Abstract
Background
Isolated diastolic hypertension (IDH) is a subtype of hypertension, which is defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) <140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥90 mmHg by 2018 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guideline and 2019 National Institute for Health and Care Excellent (NICE). Whereas some previous studies have demonstrated the significant association between IDH and cardiovascular (CV) events, some have not.
Purpose
To assess the association between IDH and the risk of CV events, CV mortality, and all-cause mortality.
Methods
We conducted a systematic search for publications using Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane Library from inception through March 2021 for prospective cohort studies exploring the association between IDH and CV events, CV mortality, and all-cause mortality. Relative risks (RR) or hazard ratios were extracted from the selected studies. Random effect models with inverse variance weighting were used to calculate the pooled RR and 95% confidence interval (CI). The primary outcome was a composite of total CV events including CV mortality. The secondary outcomes were CV mortality and all-cause mortality. We defined the IDH as SBP <140 mmHg and DBP ≥90 mmHg, reference group as BP less than 140/90mmHg.
Results
Overall, 15 studies were identified including 1049587 participants (5.5% IDH). For the primary outcome, IDH was significantly associated with risk of CV events (RR, 1.40 [95% CI, 1.18–1.66], p<0.001). The increased risk of CV events was also observed in subgroup analyses based on age (less or more than 50) and sex. However, in further stratified analysis based on geographical region, only the Asia population showed a significant association with increased risk of CV events, whereas results were null in Europe and North America populations. For the secondary outcomes, IDH was significantly associated with increased CV mortality (RR [95% CI], 1.41 [1.12–1.78], p<0.001) but not with all-cause mortality (RR [95% CI], 1.13 [0.86–1.48], p=0.378). The sensitivity analysis showed the overall results did not vary significantly after exclusion of any one study.
Conclusions
IDH is associated with increased risk of CV events and CV mortality. Further, more large-scale prospective epidemiological cohorts are needed to confirm our conclusion.

Abstract
To alleviate algal fouling in membrane water treatment processes, conventional technologies such as coagulation with poly aluminum chloride (PACl) has been widely adopted by many drinking water treatment plants. However, coagulation alone exhibited relatively weak removal effect for algal pollutants, and the coagulant residues due to the excess dosage also raised concerns. Thus, a novel process of coupling sodium percarbonate (SPC) oxidation and PACl coagulation was proposed, integrated with membrane filtration for algae-laden water treatment. The dosages of PACl and SPC were optimized, and the SPC dosing strategies were systematically compared. The changes in the characteristics of algal pollutants were investigated, and the results revealed that the resistance of algal foulants to aggregation was decreased, and the particle size of algal foulants became larger. With the synergism of coagulation and oxidation, the degradation of fluorescent organics was strengthened, and macromolecular biopolymers were decomposed into low molecular weight organics. The fouling control efficiency was further explored, and the results indicated that both irreversible and reversible fouling were effectively controlled, among which PACl/SPC (simultaneous treatment) performed best with the irreversible fouling reduced by 90.5%, while the efficiency of SPC-PACl (SPC followed by PACl) was relatively lower (57.3%). The fouling mechanism was altered by slowing the formation of cake filtration, and the reduction of algal cells played a more important role for the fouling alleviation. The interface properties of contaminated membranes (i.e., functional groups, images, and micromorphology) were characterized, and the efficiency of the proposed strategy was further verified. The proposed strategy exhibits great application values for improving membrane performance during algae-laden water treatment.

Abstract
Natural pectin, derived from fruit residue, presented a certain flocculation performance in previous studies. However, the process of extraction and treatment affected the flocculation performance considering the uncontrollable chemical composition and the molecule structure. In this study, degree of esterification (DE), degree of amidation (DA) were used as the internal factors affecting flocculation performance. The DE/DA values of pectin were obtained through FTIR, elemental analyses, H-NMR, and titration measurements. The kaolin suspension was employed for the coagulation jar tests, and the removal of NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit) was used as the index of the flocculation performance. Results showed that the flocculation performance of pectin arising from different fruits was different, which was associated with the various preparation processes. By introducing polar groups into pectin, the flocculation was found to be related to bridging, adsorption, and charge neutralization. Based on the trends of three-dimensional response surfaces, the flocculation effect was improved with the decreased DE and the increased DA. The optimized amidated pectin was obtained by the amidation experiment, the turbidity reduction in wastewater was 99.63%. PRACTITIONER POINTS: The internal influencing factors of pectin as a flocculant were investigated. Different sources of pectin show different flocculation ability. Amidation modification can improve the flocculation performance of pectin. Response surface method to study the interaction of different influencing factors. Pectin may replace synthetic flocculants in water treatment.

Abstract
The Medical Theory (Yi Shuo) and The Mengqiu of Famous Medical Doctors in the Past Dynasties (Li Dai Ming Yi Meng Qiu) are two medical books that originated in the Song Dynasty. The two books quoted from The List of Medical Doctors (Ming Yi Lu) many times while the author and the issue time of The List of Medical Doctors (Ming Yi Lu) has not been clearly known up to know. It was found that there were 25 quotations in The Medical Theory (Yi Shuo) and 31 quotations in The Mengqiu of Famous Medical Doctors in the Past Dynasties (Li Dai Ming Yi Meng Qiu) from The List of Medical Doctors (Ming Yi Lu). The contents quoted in the two books are also found in The Mysterious Medical List (Shen Mi Ming Yi Lu) written by Dang Yongnian in the Song Dynasty. In this sense, it can be inferred that The List of Medical Doctors (Ming Yi Lu) mentioned above should be The Mysterious Medical List (Shen Mi Ming Yi Lu).

Abstract
AIMS This study aimed to compare the bone mineral densities (BMDs) among male patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), classical type 1 diabetes (T1DM), and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and to examine the risk factors for developing low BMD in these patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS Between January 2017 and October 2020, a total of 57, 67, and 223 male patients with LADA, classical T1DM, and T2DM, respectively, were recruited from the endocrinology department of Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital. Hormonal markers of bone metabolism, lipid profiles, uric acid, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and beta-cell function were measured using blood samples. BMD was measured at the lumbar spine, femoral neck, and right hip by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. RESULTS The mean BMD values from all three skeletal sites in male patients with LADA were comparable to those with classical T1DM but were much lower than those with T2DM. After adjusting for confounding factors, multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that in all male patients with diabetes, body mass index (BMI), uric acid, and fasting C-peptide showed significant positive associations with BMD at all three skeletal sites; however, osteocalcin showed a negative association at all three sites. CONCLUSIONS Compared with male patients with T2DM, lower BMDs were observed in patients with LADA and T1DM. Low BMI, uric acid, C-peptide levels, and high osteocalcin levels are risk factors for developing low BMD in male patients with diabetes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the connections between hair cells and spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs) during the development of the C57BL/6 mouse inner ear. MATERIALS AND METHODS The specimens of C57BL/6 mouse inner ear, from E15 (embryo day 15) to adult mouse, were collected; immunohistochemistry was employed to explore the frozen sections of specimens. RESULTS The development of cochlea starts sequentially from the basal turn to the apex turn. Morphological development of SGNs occurs mainly from E16 to P12 (postnatal day 12). Hair cells appear from E18 to P12, and inner hair cells (IHCs) develop earlier than outer hair cells (OHCs). The connections between hair cells and SGNs begin to develop during E18-P1, morphologically resemble mature synapses during P8-P12, and completely mature in adult mice. CONCLUSIONS The genesis of auditory ribbon synapse occurs from E18 to P1. Synchronized with the development of SGNs and hair cells, the functional filaments remain connected to hair cells, while the spare ones get disconnected from the surface of hair cells. Connections between SGN nerve filaments and IHCs occur earlier than those between SGN nerve filaments and OHCs.
