Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the difference of plasma myeloperoxidase (MPO) level in different types of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients, and the value of baseline MPO level in predicting short-term and long-term outcomes in patients with ACS. Methods: The study cohort was derived from "the 12th Five-Year" National Science and Technology Support Program Project "Study on Comprehensive Intervention and Prognosis of Acute Coronary Syndrome" . We enrolled all hospitalized ACS patients who were enrolled in "the 12th Five-Year" cohort from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013. A total of 630 patients from 20 centers were enrolled. According to the diagnosis, the patients were divided into two groups: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group and non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) group. Plasma levels of MPO were measured by ELISA method. Cardiovascular events in the hospital were recorded. All patients were followed-up by telephone, follow-up ended December 31, 2015. The occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE, defined as cardiac death, recurrent myocardial infarction, unscheduled coronary revascularization procedure and stroke) and all-cause death were recorded. Logistic regression analysis and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the predictive value of baseline MPO levels obtained during hospitalization and the long-term outcomes of ACS patients. Results: A total of 597 ACS patients were enrolled in final analysis. Level of plasma MPO in STEMI patients was significantly higher than that of NSTE-ACS patients (34.02(19.31, 67.87) μg/L vs. 27.25(16.69, 52.92) μg/L, P=0.028) . MPO was not related to the in-hospital cardiovascular events (OR=0.797, 95%CI 0.366-1.737, P=0.569). Follow up was completed in 476 patients, median follow-up time was 796 (32, 1 816) days. There were 23 all-cause deaths and 51 MACE. Plasma MPO level was not an independent predictor for all-cause death (HR=1.434, 95%CI 0.502-4.100, P=0.501) and MACE (HR=1.271, 95%CI 0.662-2.442, P=0.471). Conclusion: In hospitalized ACS patients, level of plasma MPO was significantly higher in STEMI patients than in NSTE-ACS patients, but MPO could not predict the short-term or long-term outcomes in patients with ACS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This phase I/II clinical trial investigated S-1 administered with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) as adjuvant therapy for node-positive gastric cancer. Patients had undergone radical resection and D1/D2 lymph node dissection. METHODS In phase I, patients received adjuvant chemoradiotherapy of IMRT (45 Gy in 25 fractions) with concurrent S-1 administered on a dose-escalation schedule to determine the recommended dose (RD). In phase II, the safety and efficacy of the RD of S-1 combined with IMRT were assessed. RESULTS We consecutively enrolled 73 patients (56 men; median age, 53 years; range, 29-73 years) and the phase I portion of the study included 27 patients. The RD of S-1 administered concomitantly with IMRT was 80 mg m-2 day-1 orally, twice daily. The phase II analysis included 52 patients (46 new patients plus 6 from phase I). 8 patients (15.4%) developed grade 3 or 4 toxicities. There were 21 recurrence events and 15 deaths (1 bowel obstruction, 14 gastric cancer). Three-year disease-free survival and overall survival were 62.2% (95% confidence interval (CI), 48.5-75.9) and 70.0% (95% CI, 56.3-83.7), respectively. The median time to recurrence was 17.5 months (range, 3.8-42.0). The median time from recurrence to death was 7.0 months (range, 1.5-28.7). CONCLUSIONS S-1 combined with IMRT adjuvant chemoradiotherapy is safe and efficacious for advanced gastric cancer.

Abstract
Objective: To establish a risk-adapted postmastectomy radiotherapy strategy based on local-regional recurrence for intermediate-risk breast cancer (T1~2N1M0 stage). Methods: A total of 2413 patients with T1-2N1M0 breast cancer were retrospectively reviewed. Of them, 588 patients (24.4%) received postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT), while 1 825 (75.6%) patients did not. A comprehensive comparative study was performed by using multivariable and propensity score-matched (PSM) analyses. Results: The median follow-up time was 67.0 months, the 5-year local region recurrence free-survival (LRRFS), disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were 93.8%, 85.7% and 93.3%, respectively. The 5-year local region recurrence (LRR) was 6.1%. For patients without PMRT, multivariable analysis indicated that age, tumor localization, molecular subtype, pathologic T stage and number of positive lymph node were independent factors for LRRFS (all of P<0.05). Patients with T1-2N1 breast cancer were classified into low-risk group (0-1 risk factor, 768 patients), intermediate-risk group (2 risk factors, 690 patients) and high-risk groups (≥3 risk factors, 544 patients) based on the five independent factors mentioned above. The 5-year LRRFS, DFS and OS were significantly different among the three groups (P<0.001). In low- and intermediate-risk groups, there were no significant differences in LRRFS, DFS and OS of patients who received PMRT or not (P>0.05). In high-risk group, the DFS of patients received PMRT or not were 79.8% and 74.4%, respectively (P=0.127), the OS of them were 86.8% and 87.1%, respectively (P=0.174), and the LRRFS were 93.3% and 84.3%, respectively (P=0.002). After PSM adjustment, no significant differences in LRRFS, DFS and OS were observed between PMRT-received subgroup and no PMRT subgroup of low-risk group (P>0.05). In intermediate-risk group, the LRRFS of patients received PMRT or not were 95.2% and 91.0%, respectively (P=0.037). However, in the high-risk group, the LRRFS, DFS and OS of patients received PMRT were 93.3%, 79.7% and 86.6%, respectively, while those of patients did not receive PMRT were 78.5% (P<0.001), 69.5% (P=0.038) and 85.7% (P=0.080), respectively. Conclusions: The local-regional recurrence risks of patients with pT1-2N1 breast cancer are viable and risk-adapted PMRT is available for them. Better prognoses can be achieved by the patients of intermediate and high-risk group. More samples on this subject are needed to validate the results.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of AKT1 deSUMOylation induced by Ubc9 silencing on the proliferation and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Methods: The Ubc9 gene was silenced using RNA interference, and the expression levels of Ubc9, SUMO1 and AKT1 protein were detected by Western blot. Cell proliferation and cell cycle was analyzed by MTT and flow cytometry. Wound healing and transwell assays were used to detect the cell migration ability. Furthermore, the xenograft model was established, and tumor growth curves were drawn. The in situ apoptotic rates was measured using TUNEL Apoptosis Assay. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 were evaluated by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Knockdown of Ubc9 gene significantly decreased the protein expression levels of Ubc9, conjugated SUMO1, free SUMO1 and AKT1 in HCC cells (P<0.05 for all). In control, siR-neg and siR-Ubc9 groups, the cell proliferation indexes were 53.19%, 54.25% and 39.17%, respectively. Moreover, cell migration distance and migrating cells per low power field for all these three groups were (59.47±4.66) μm and 89.44±8.36, (56.56±5.37) μm and 93.84±8.79, as well as (34.57±6.61) μm and 41.67±5.39, respectively. In the xenograft model, the weights of subcutaneous tumors for these three groups were (3.78±0.69) g, (3.72±0.72) g and (2.09±0.61) g, respectively. The corresponding apoptotic cell rates were (7.79±2.21)%, (6.45±2.48)% and (33.59±5.44)%, respectively. The expression levels of PCNA, MMP-2 and MMP-9 protein were significantly decreased in siR-Ubc9 group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Ubc9 silencing in HCC cells induces AKT1 deSUMOylation, and then inhibits the proliferation and metastasis. These results provide a new therapeutic strategy for liver cancer in the future.

Abstract
Commercial microscopy systems make use of tandem scanning i.e. either slow or fast scanning. We constructed, for the first time, an advanced control system capable of delivering a dynamic line scanning speed ranging from 2.7 kHz to 27 kHz and achieve variable frame rates from 5 Hz to 50 Hz (512 × 512). The dynamic scanning ability is digitally controlled by a new customized open-source software named PScan1.0. This permits manipulation of scanning rates either to gain higher fluorescence signal at slow frame rate without increasing laser power or increase frame rates to capture high speed events. By adjusting imaging speed from 40 Hz to 160 Hz, we capture a range of calcium waves and transient peaks from soma and dendrite of single fluorescence neuron (CAL-520AM). Motion artifacts arising from respiratory and cardiac motion in small animal imaging reduce quality of real-time images of single cells in-vivo. An image registration algorithm, integrated with PScan1.0, was shown to perform both real time and post-processed motion correction. The improvement is verified by quantification of blood flow rates. This work describes all the steps necessary to develop a high performance and flexible polygon-mirror based multiphoton microscope system for in-vivo biological imaging.

Abstract
To improve the performance of solar adsorption refrigeration, an experimental system with a solar concentration collector was set up and investigated. The main components of the system were the adsorbent bed, the condenser, the evaporator, the cooling sub-system, and the solar collector. In the first step of the experiment, the vapor-saturated bed was heated by the solar radiation under closed conditions, which caused the bed temperature and pressure to increase. When the bed pressure became high enough, the bed was switched to connect to the condenser, thus water vapor flowed continually from the bed to the condenser to be liquefied. Next, the bed needed to cool down after the desorption. In the solar-shielded condition, achieved by aluminum foil, the circulating water loop was opened to the bed. With the water continually circulating in the bed, the stored heat in the bed was took out and the bed pressure decreased accordingly. When the bed pressure dropped below the saturation pressure at the evaporation temperature, the valve to the evaporator was opened. A mass of water vapor rushed into the bed and was adsorbed by the zeolite material. With the massive vaporization of the water in the evaporator, the refrigeration effect was generated finally. The experimental result has revealed that both the COP (coefficient of the performance of the system) and the SCP (specific cooling power of the system) of the SAPO-34 zeolite was greater than that of the ZSM-5 zeolite, no matter whether the adsorption time was longer or shorter. The system of the SAPO-34 zeolite generated a maximum COP of 0.169.

Abstract
Taking cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the template and using TiO2 as the substrate, coral-globular-like composite Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) was successfully synthesized by the sol-gel combined with a temperature-programmed treatment method. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, SEM combined with X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy, and N2 adsorption-desorption tests were employed to characterize samples' crystalline phase, chemical composition, morphology and surface physicochemical properties. Results showed that composites not only had TiO2 anatase structure, but also had some generated SnTiO4, and the silver species was metallic Ag0. Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) possessed a coral-globular-like structure with nanosheets in large quantities. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) had studied by degrading organic dyes under multi-modes, mainly using rhodamine B as the model molecule. Results showed that the coral-globular-like Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) was higher photocatalytic activity than that of commercial TiO2, Ag/TiO2-SnO2, TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB), and TiO2-SnO2 under ultraviolet light irradiation. Moreover, Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) composite can significantly affect the photocatalytic degradation under multi-modes including UV light, visible light, simulated solar light and microwave-assisted irradiation. Meanwhile, the photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2-SnO2 (CTAB) was maintained even after three cycles, indicating that the catalyst had good usability.

Abstract
Temperature plays an important role in the growth, development, and geographic distribution of insects. There is convincing evidence that heat-shock proteins (HSPs) play important roles in helping organisms adapt to thermal stress. To better understand the physiological and ecological influence of thermal stress on the different development stages of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) Mediterranean species (MED), nymphs and adults were shocked with temperatures of 35, 38, and 41℃ for 1 and 2 h, respectively, and the survival rate, fecundity, and developmental duration were investigated in the laboratory. The expression levels of the hsp40, hsp70, and hsp90 genes were assessed using real-time PCR. The results indicate that the survival rates of the nymphs and adults decreased with increased temperature. A 2-h heat shock at 41℃ induced a significant reduction in fecundity in adults and an increase in developmental duration in young nymphs. Hsp90 showed higher temperature responses to thermal stress than hsp40 or hsp70. The expression levels of the hsps in the adults were significantly down-regulated by a 2-h heat shock at 41℃ compared with that by a 1-h treatment. A significant decrease in the expression levels of the hsps also occurred in the adults when the temperature increased from 38 to 41℃ for the 2-h treatment, whereas no significant decrease occurred in the nymphs. Compared with previous studies, we provide some evidence indicating that MED has the potential to adapt to a wider temperature range than the Middle East-Asia Minor 1 species.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the outcomes of clinical T1-3N1M0 breast cancer patients with pathological negative axillary lymph nodes (ypN0) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and mastectomy, and investigate the role of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT). Methods: A total of 185 patients with clinical T1-3N1M0 breast cancer treated between 1999 and 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. All patients were treated with NAC and mastectomy, and achieved ypN0. Of them, 89 patients received additional PMRT and 96 patients did not. 101 patients had clinical stage Ⅱ disease. 84 patients had clinical stage Ⅲ disease. The rates of locoregional recurrence (LRR), distant metastasis (DM), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and differences were compared using the log-rank test. Univariate analysis was used to interpret the impact of clinical features and treatment on patients' outcome. Results: The 5-year rates of LRR, DM, DFS, and OS for all patients were 4.5%, 10.4%, 86.6%, and 97.1%, respectively. For patients with and without PMRT, the 5-year LRR rates were 1.1% and 7.5% (P=0.071), the 5-year DM rates were 5.1% and 15.0% (P=0.023), the 5-year DFS rates were 95.0% and 79.0% (P=0.008), and the 5-year OS rates were 100.0% and 94.5% (P=0.089) respectively. In univariate analysis, lymph-vascular space invasion (LVSI) was poor prognostic factor of LRR (P=0.001), < 40 years old and lack of PMRT was a poor prognostic factor for DM (P<0.05), lack of PMRT was a poor prognostic factor for DFS (P=0.008), primary lesion residual and mild-moderate pathological response to NAC were poor prognostic factors for OS (P<0.05). In the subgroup of Stage Ⅲ disease, for patients with and without PMRT, the 5-year LRR rates were 1.9% and 14.4% (P=0.041), the 5-year DFS rates were 91.9% and 67.4% (P=0.022), respectively. In the subgroup of Stage Ⅱ disease, for patients with and without PMRT, the 5-year DM rates were 0 and 11.5% (P=0.044), the 5-year DFS rates were 100.0% and 84.9% (P=0.023), respectively. Conclusions: The LRR rate of clinical T1-3N1M0 breast cancer patients who achieved ypN0 after NAC and mastectomy was low. PMRT decreased the DM rate and increased DFS rate in all patients, and significantly decreased the LRR rate in Stage Ⅲ disease. PMRT should be considered for patients with Stage Ⅲ disease, and further research is warranted to investigate the benefit of PMRT for Stage Ⅱ disease.

Abstract
Objective: Through systematically reviewing the reliability and validity of depression scales of Chinese version in adults in China to evaluate the psychometric properties of depression scales for different groups. Methods: Eligible studies published before 6 May 2016 were retrieved from the following database: CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed and Embase. The HSROC model of the diagnostic test accuracy (DTA) for Meta-analysis was used to calculate the pooled sensitivity and specificity of the PHQ-9. Results: A total of 44 papers evaluating the performance of depression scales were included. Results showed that the reliability and validity of the common depression scales were eligible, including the Beck depression inventory (BDI), the Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), the center epidemiological studies depression scale (CES-D), the patient health questionnaire (PHQ) and the Geriatric depression scale (GDS). The Cronbach' s coefficient of most tools were larger than 0.8, while the test-retest reliability and split-half reliability were larger than 0.7, indicating good internal consistency and stability. The criterion validity, convergent validity, discrimination validity and screening validity were acceptable though different cut-off points were recommended by different studies. The pooled sensitivity of the 11 studies evaluating PHQ-9 was 0.88 (95%CI: 0.85-0.91) while the pooled specificity was 0.89 (95%CI: 0.82-0.94), which demonstrated the applicability of PHQ-9 in screening depression. Conclusion: The reliability and validity of different depression scales of Chinese version are acceptable. The characteristics of different tools and study population should be taken into consideration when choosing a specific scale.

Abstract
Cochlear implantation (CI) is a relatively new therapeutic method for patients with severe-to-profound unilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Acoustic signal can stimulate the ear directly, thus patients can gain better binaural hearing. This passage has reviewed the recent researches about CI for patients suffered from single side deafness. It can improve the ability of sound localization and speech recognition in noisy environment for patients, in addition, it may relieve tinnitus to some degree. But the long-term effect and indication selection still need further study.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway on apoptosis induced by chloroacetic acid in human normal bronchial epithelial 16HBE cells. Methods: 16HBE cells were exposed to 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 mmol/L chloroacetic acid for 24 h in vitro. The cytotoxicity induced by chloroacetic acid was assessed by CCK-8 and LDH assays. Cell apoptosis was detected by Annexin V-FITC and PI staining. The protein expression levels of phosphorylation of p38, ERK1/2 and JNK were determined by western blotting. 16HBE cells were pretreated with MAPK signaling pathway specific inhibitors including SB203580, U0126 and SP600125 for 1 h, and these cells were subsequently treated with 2.5 mmol/L chloroacetic acid for 24 h. The expressions of p-p38, p-ERK1/2 and p-JNK as well as the changes of cell viability and apoptosis were measured after pretreated with inhibitors for 1 h. Results: The cell viability by CCK-8 and LDH methods gradually reduced in a dose-dependent manner when chloroacetic acid concentrations elevated (P<0.05) , and their correlation coefficients were -0.902 and -0.825, respectively. The detection efficiency of CCK-8 assay significantly increased compared with LDH assay (P<0.05) . The cell apoptosis rates, which were (17.2±4.0) %, (24.6± 4.2) %, (39.3 ± 5.7) % in 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 mmol/L chloroacetic acid-treated groups, were higher than that of the control group[ (5.6 ± 3.0) %] (P<0.05) . There was a time-or dose-dependent change in the protein expressions of p-p38, p-ERK1/2 and p-JNK. Compared with the control, the levels of p-p38 had 2.1 and 2.6-fold increases in 16 and 24 h treated groups (P<0.01) , while the levels of p-ERK1/2 distinctly decreased by 37% and 52% (P<0.01) . In comparison with the control group, the expressions of p-p38 had 1.9 and 2.6-fold increases in 1.5 and 2.5 mmol/L treatment groups (P<0.01) , whereas the expressions of p-ERK1/2 significantly decreased by 40% and 50% (P<0.01) . No significant change was observed in p-JNK protein expression between the chloroacetic acid-treated and control groups. In comparison with the vehicle control and the exposed group, p-p38, p-ERK1/2, p-JNK protein expressions significantly declined in the inhibitor controls and inhibitor groups. Compared with the controls, the cell survival rates had significant reductions of 28%, 18%, 36% and 26% respectively in chloroacetic acid treated group, SB203580 group, U0126 group and SP600125 group, and the apoptosis rates in the abovementioned groups were 7, 4, 8 and 7 times. Compared with chloroacetic acid-treated group, the cell viability increased by 14% in SB203580 group and decreased by 11% in U0126 group, and the cell apoptosis rates decreased by 36% in SB203580 group and increased by 18% in U0126 group (P<0.05) . But no significant changes were observed in cell viability and apoptosis between SP600125 and chloroacetic acid-treated group. Conclusion: Chloroacetic acid might activate p38 MAPK signaling pathway and inhibit ERK1/2 MAPK signaling pathway. The signaling pathways of p38 and ERK1/2 MAPK are involved in 16HBE cell apoptosis induced by chloroacetic acid, but JNK is not involved in chloroacetic acid-induced 16HBE cell apoptosis.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of sequencing of adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy following breast-conserving surgery for patients with breast cancer. Methods: A total of 1 154 patients withT1-2N0-3M0 breast cancer retrospectively reviewed. All patients received sequential radiotherapy and chemotherapy following breast-conserving surgery. Among them, 603 patients received radiotherapy first and 551 patients received chemotherapy first. Log-rank tests were used to determine significance of disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) rates in the Kaplan-Meier curve. Results: The 5-year DFS and OS rates for all patients were 93.0% and 97.8%. The 5-year OS rate was 98.6% in the radiotherapy first group and 96.4% in the chemotherapy first group (P=0.191), and the corresponding DFS rate was 92.7% and 93.2% (P=0.430), respectively. Among the patients with Luminal A subtype, the 5-year OS rate was 99.6% in the radiotherapy first group and 97.8% in the chemotherapy first group (P=0.789). Among the patients with Luminal B subtype, the 5-year OS rate was 94.2% and 96.0%, respectively (P=0.680). Among the patients with triple negative breast cancer, the 5-year OS rate was 100% and 90.9%, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P=0.019). Among the patients with HER-2 positive breast cancer, The 5-year DFS rate was 80.1% and 100%, respectively (P=0.045). Conclusions: The OS and DFS rates in the chemotherapy first group are not significantly different from those of radiotherapy first group after breast-conserving surgery. Patients with HER-2 positive breast cancer in chemotherapy first group have a much higher DFS rate than that of radiotherapy first group, whereas patients with triple negative breast cancer in radiotherapy first group have a better OS rate than that of chemotherapy first group. Further research is warranted to investigate the benefit of different molecular types in different sequencing of radiotherapy and chemotherapy after breast-conserving surgery.

Abstract
Wolbachia pipientis are intracellular endosymbionts that induce parthenogenesis in the parasitoid Encarsia formosa. Previous studies that focused on effects of Wolbachia on the wasp usually used tetracycline to remove Wolbachia without concern for the joint influences of tetracycline and Wolbachia. Here we treated the wasps (F0 lines) with tetracycline to produce offspring (F1 lines) which were not fed tetracycline to avoid antibiotic influence. The quantitative data and fluorescence in situ hybridization showed that Wolbachia titers were reduced but not totally removed. The Wolbachia that infected the male offspring were unpredictably detected. Low dose tetracycline enhanced the fertility of 2-day-old F0 wasps after 24 h of treatment; however, compared with controls, the oocyte load of 3- to 6-day-old tetracycline-treated wasps decreased day by day, and tetracycline reduced the longevity of the wasps. The fecundity of controls was significantly higher than that of the treated F1-10 and F1-20 generations. Gene expression of vitellogenin reflected the same trend as that of wasp fecundities in both F0 and F1 lines. Moreover, female offspring proportions of F0 and F1 lines were related to the titer of infected Wolbachia, demonstrating that Wolbachia titer affected the sex determination of E. formosa.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of both peripheral and central systolic blood pressure (pSBP and cSBP) with urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) in a community-based population in Beijing. Methods: A total of 3 479 Chinese subjects with questionnaire, UACR, pSBP, and cSBP data available were included from an atherosclerosis cohort of Peking University First Hospital in Shijingshan District, Beijing followed up from April to July in 2014. Multivariate linear regression analyses were used to examine the effect of pSBP and cSBP on lnUACR, and further tests for interactions were performed according to associated covariates. Results: Subjects were (59.0±8.6) years old, 36.2% (n=1 260) were male, 46.0% (n=1 595) had hypertension, and 20.2% (n=700) had diabetes. The pSBP and cSBP was (126.9 ± 16.4) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), and (136.3 ± 16.7) mmHg, respectively. P(50) (P(25)-P(75)) of UACR was 6.2 (4.2-11.1) mg/g. Both pSBP and cSBP were linearly associated with lnUACR adjusted for age, sex, body mass index, smoking status, drinking status, triglyceride, HDL-C, LDL-C, fasting glucose, creatinine, history of cardiovascular disease, antihypertensive and hypoglycemic agents (every 10 mmHg increase for pSBP: β=0.12, 95%CI: 0.10-0.15, P<0.001; for cSBP: β=0.11, 95%CI: 0.09-0.14, P< 0.001). The relationships were remained in subgroups such as non-hypertension group, non-diabetes group, normal UACR group, and 3-combination group (every 10 mmHg increase for pSBP: β=0.09, 95%CI: 0.05-0.13; β=0.12, 95%CI: 0.10-0.15; β=0.07, 95%CI: 0.06-0.09; β=0.08, 95%CI: 0.05-0.12. for cSBP: β=0.07, 95%CI: 0.04-0.11; β=0.11, 95%CI: 0.08-0.13; β=0.07, 95%CI: 0.05-0.08; β=0.06, 95%CI: 0.03-0.09, all P<0.001). Furthermore, analyses for interaction found that both pSBP and cSBP were more strongly associated with lnUACR in males, current smokers and subjects with high serum creatinine level (≥87 µmol/L) when compared with females, non-current smokers and subjects with low serum creatinine level (<87 µmol/L), respectively (all P for interaction<0.05). Conclusion: The results showed that both pSBP and cSBP were independently associated with UACR in this Chinese community-based population even in low risk population suggesting well-controlled both peripheral and central blood pressure may reduce urinary albumin. Males, current smokers and subjects with higher serum creatinine should pay more attention to the impacts of pSBP and cSBP on UACR.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the optimal anticoagulation methods and monitoring strategy for Chinese patients undergoing heart valve replacement, which is potentially quite different from western populations. METHODS In this multicenter prospective cohort study, the anticoagulation and monitoring strategy data was acquired from 25 773 in-hospital patients in 35 medical centers and 20 519 patients in outpatient clinic in 11 medical centers from January 1st, 2011 to December 31th, 2015. RESULTS As for in-hospital patients, mean age of study population was (48.6±11.2) years old; main etiology of valve pathology was rheumatic (87.5%) origin among study cohort; 94.8% of study population received mechanical valve implantation; international normalized ratio (INR) monitoring (in all the study centers) and low-intensity anticoagulation strategy (31 hospitals chose target INR range of 1.5-2.5, and actual values of INR among 89.2% of 100 069 in-hospital monitoring samples were 1.5-2.5), with mean actual INR values of 1.84±0.53, and warfarin dosage of (2.82±0.93) mg/d were widely adopted among the study centers; strategies of in-hospital warfarin administration were similar in all the study centers; complication rates of low-intensity anticoagulation strategy were low in severe hemorrhage (0.02%), thrombosis (0.05%), and thromboembolism (0.05%) events, without anticoagulation-related death. As for 18 974 outpatient clinic patients, the follow-up rate was 92.47%, with a total of 30 012 patient-years (Pty). Anticoagulation-related morbidity and mortality rates were 0.67% and 0.15% Pty; major hemorrhage morbidity and mortality rates were 0.25% and 0.13% Pty; thromboembolism morbidity and mortality rates were 0.45% and 0.03% Pty.The mean dosage of warfarin daily dosage was (2.85±1.23) mg/d and INR value was 1.82±0.57.No significant regional difference in the intensity of anticoagulation therapy was noted during the study. CONCLUSIONS INR can be used as a normalized indicator for intensity of anticoagulation therapy in China. The optimal anticoagulation intensity with INR range from 1.5 to 2.5 is safe and effective for Chinese patients with heart valve replacement, and there is no significant regional difference in the intensity of anticoagulation therapy.

Abstract
Coherent light-matter interaction in ultrathin metamaterials has been demonstrated to dynamically modulate intensity, polarization and propagation direction of light. The gradient metasurface with a transverse phase variation usually exhibits an anomalous refracted beam of light dictated by so-called generalized Snell’s law. However, less attention has been paid to coherent control of the metasurface with multiple anomalous refracted beams. Here we propose an ultrathin gradient metasurface with single trapezoid-shaped slot antenna as its building block that allows one normal and two deflected transmitted beams. It is numerically demonstrated that such metasurface with multiple scattering modes can be coherently controlled to modulate output intensities by changing the relative phase difference between two counterpropagating coherent beams. Each mode can be coherently switched on/off and two deflected anomalous beams can be synchronously dictated by the phase difference. The coherent control effect in the trapezoid-shaped slit metasurface will offer a promising opportunity for multichannel signals modulation, multichannel sensing and wave front shaping.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the expression level and location of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) in gastric cancer (GC) tissues and their relationship with clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes. METHODS From July to September 2015, 27 pairs of fresh paired GC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were gathered from the Eighth Department of General Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blot were performed to detect the expression of HIF-1α mRNA and protein in these tissues. A total of 191 GC tissues and 46 randomly selected adjacent normal gastric tissues were consecutively collected between December 2006 and September 2008 from Department of General Surgery of the same hospital. Immunohistochemistry were performed on them to detect the expression of HIF-1α and CD34[described in terms of microvessel density (MVD)], and correlation of different locations of HIF-1α (in cytoplasm or nucleus) with MVD, clinicopathological features, and clinical prognosis was analyzed. RESULTS The average relative expression level of HIF-1α mRNA in GC tissues (0.625±0.170) was significantly higher than in normal adjacent tissues (0.218±0.036, t=2.336, P=0.023) by qRT-PCR. From the results of Western blot, the expression level of HIF-1α protein increased in GC tissues compared with its corresponding normal tissues. Immunohistochemistry results revealed that positive HIF-1α staining was observed in 67.54% GC tissues and 45.65% normal tissues, with significant difference (P=0.006). And 35.08% in GC and 45.65% in normal tissues were cytoplasmic positive (P=0.138); while 37.17% in GC and only 2.17% in normal tissues were nuclear positive, with significant difference (P<0.001). High differentiation group and TNM clinical early stage (Ⅰ+ Ⅱ) group had significantly higher cytoplasmic HIF-1α expression positive rate compared with low differentiation group (P=0.008) and TNM clinical intermediate-advanced stage (Ⅲ+ Ⅳ) group (P=0.019); whereas low differentiation group had significantly higher nuclear HIF-1α expression positive rate compared with high differentiation group (P=0.043). The mean MVD in the nuclear HIF-1α positive GC group (115.6 ± 7.8) was higher than that in the cytoplasmic HIF-1α positive GC group (93.1±7.5, t=2.077, P=0.040). The median follow-up time was 56(3-81)months. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Log-Rank test results showed that nuclear HIF-1α positive patients had a shorter survival time (median 45 months) than cytoplasmic HIF-1α positive patients (median 64 months, P<0.001). Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that differentiation (HR=1.713; 95% CI: 1.019-2.882), depth of invasion (tumor stage, HR=6.137; 95% CI: 1.832-20.556) and lymph node metastasis (HR=2.788; 95% CI: 1.313-5.920) were independent prognostic factors for GC (all P<0.05). CONCLUSION Different location of HIF-1α protein may be realted to the tumorigenesis and progression of GC, and may become a potential prognostic indicator of GC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the effects of condensate in the piezometric tube on patient ventilator interaction during noninvasive positive pressure ventilation. METHODS Eleven healthy adults volunteered to receive noninvasive positive pressure ventilation. Different capacity of physiological saline was injected gradually into the piezometric tube until the volunteers could not trigger the ventilator or the total volume of the water reached 1.5 ml. The dynamic changes of the pressure of mask(Pmask), piezometric tube near mask (Ppro), piezometric tube near breathing machine(Pdis), and the flow were observed. RESULTS With increasing volume of saline injected, the trigger time TItri(Pmask) increased from 0.09(0.07-0.11) to 0.31(0.22-0.39)s, the trigger pressure TPtri(Pmask) increased from 0.26(0.15-0.33) to 2.29(1.76-3.09)cmH2O, and the pressure-time product PTP (Pmask) increased from 0.02(0.01-0.03) to 0.55(0.41-0.68) cmH2O·s. Ineffective triggering rate increased from 0 up to 9 times/min, and spurious triggering rate increased from 0 up to 33 times/min. The plateau pressure of Pmask and Ppro exceeded the preset parameters, increased significantly as compared with 0 ml, from (9.74±0.34)to (15.79±3.10) cmH2O and from(9.80±0.31) to(15.44±3.47) cmH2O. The change of plateau pressure of Pdis was not significant [from (9.85±0.29)to (12.58±2.64)cmH2O]. The baseline pressure of Pmask, Ppro and Pdis changed from (3.67±0.36) to (8.40±3.22) cmH2O, from (3.71±0.32) to (8.13±3.55) cmH2O and from( 3.77±0.32) to (5.36±1.25) cmH2O, respectively. The pressure fluctuation of platform of Pmask increased significantly compare with 0 ml, from 0.60(0.48-0.71) to 7.94(7.11-8.63)cmH2O. The frequency of fluctuation of platform increased as many as 7 times during a single respiratory period. The time when the pressure of the Pdis began to change was delayed to Pmask and Ppro, 0.11(0.08-0.12)s compared with 0 ml. CONCLUSION Condensate in the piezometric tube during noninvasive positive pressure ventilation could influence patient-ventilator synchrony. To improve patient ventilator interaction in noninvasive positive pressure ventilation, condensate in the piezometric tube should be avoided.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the MR image characteristics and clinical significance of focal periphyseal edema (FOPE) zone of the adolescent knee which was with or without trauma history, and provide the basis for the correct diagnosis and treatment. METHOD A total of 12 patients (9 boys, age range 12-16 years, average age 14 years old, 3 girls, age range 12-15 years, average age 13 years )who had pain of the knee without the traumatic history and 16 patients (12 boys, age range 10-15 years, average age 14 years; 4 girls, age range 11-13 years, average age 12 years) who were painful in the knee after trauma were included in this study. The knee MR examinations were performed in all the patients. The characteristics of MRI between painful knee without trauma and painful knee after trauma were compared and analyzed, and the average vertical distances from the farthest of the edema area to the epiphyseal plate were measured. The vertical distances were measured respectively in sagittal view and coronal view in PD-FS and in sagittal view in T1WI, and the average for the three were calculated. At last, the images with the results of operation or follow-up examinations were compared and confirmed by double blind method. RESULTS The MRI characteristics of FOPE zone in the 12 adolescent who complained painful knee but had no trauma showed low signal intensity in T1WI and high signal intensity in PD-FS. The edema centered at the physis and extended into both the adjacent epiphysis and metaphysic. In addition, it shaped like patches and thread, and edema range(14.5±6.6)mm.The MRI findings of the 16 adolescent had pain of the knee after injury characterized by a wide range of low T1WI signal intensity and increased PD-FS signal intensity involving the articular surface of the epiphysis. The range of edema was (26.2±8.8)mm.There was statistically significant difference between non-traumatic edema and the edema caused by trauma (t=4.346, P<0.05). CONCLUSION A FOPE zone of the adolescent knee is likely to be related to pain in the adolescent growth period and physiologic physeal fusion, and should not be mistaken for an abnormality, while the larger range of edema surrounding the epiphyseal plate may be associated with the trauma of the knee.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To find phenotypic subgroups of patients with pT1-2N0 invasive breast cancer by means of cluster analysis and estimate the prognosis and clinicopathological features of these subgroups. METHODS From 1999 to 2013, 4979 patients with pT1-2N0 invasive breast cancer were recruited for hierarchical clustering analysis. Age (≤40, 41-70, 70+ years), size of primary tumor, pathological type, grade of differentiation, microvascular invasion, estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) were chosen as distance metric between patients. Hierarchical cluster analysis was performed using Ward's method. Cophenetic correlation coefficient (CPCC) and Spearman correlation coefficient were used to validate clustering structures. RESULTS The CPCC was 0.603. The Spearman correlation coefficient was 0.617 (P<0.001), which indicated a good fit of hierarchy to the data. A twelve-cluster model seemed to best illustrate our patient cohort. Patients in cluster 5, 9 and 12 had best prognosis and were characterized by age >40 years, smaller primary tumor, lower histologic grade, positive ER and PR status, and mainly negative HER-2. Patients in the cluster 1 and 11 had the worst prognosis, The cluster 1 was characterized by a larger tumor, higher grade and negative ER and PR status, while the cluster 11 was characterized by positive microvascular invasion. Patients in other 7 clusters had a moderate prognosis, and patients in each cluster had distinctive clinicopathological features and recurrent patterns. CONCLUSIONS This study identified distinctive clinicopathologic phenotypes in a large cohort of patients with pT1-2N0 breast cancer through hierarchical clustering and revealed different prognosis. This integrative model may help physicians to make more personalized decisions regarding adjuvant therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the MRI characteristics of injuries of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), and provide imaging basis for the early diagnosis and treatment of the injuries. METHODS A total of 10 healthy volunteers without wrist injuries and 200 patients from Beijing Jishuitan Hospital who complained ulnar-sided wrist pain and were highly suspected as the injury of TFCC underwent the wrist magnetic resonance examination. All subjects were in a prone position and underwent examination on coronal T1WI scan and PD-FS on 3 planes respectively. Then the MRI characteristics of 3 healthy volunteers and 67 patients with TFCC injuries that confirmed by operation were analyzed. According to the comparative analysis of normal anatomy and Palmer classification, the injuries were classified and MRI features of different types of injuries were analyzed. At last, imaging findings were compared with surgical results. RESULTS Three healthy volunteers without injuries showed mainly in low signal intensity on T1WI and PD-FS images. According to Palmer classification, there were 52 traumatic injuries (ⅠA 9, ⅠB 25, ⅠC 3, ⅠD 13, In addition, 1 has central perforation and ulnar avulsion and 1 has ulnar and radial injuries simultaneously) and 15 degenerative injuries (ⅡA 5, ⅡB 1, ⅡC 2 , ⅡD 1 , ⅡE 6) among 67 patients. The central perforation mainly demonstrated as linear high signal perpendicular to the disk, and run in a sagittal line. The ulnar, distal, and radial avulsion mainly showed the injuries were irregular, the structures were ambiguous, and there was high signal intensity in the injured structures on PD-FS. Degenerative injuries demonstrated the irregularity of TFC and heterogeneous signals on PD-FS. There were mixed intermediate-high signals and changes in the articular cartilage of lunate and ulna, high signal in the lunotriquetral ligament and ulnocarpal or radioulnar arthritis. CONCLUSION MRI can demonstrate the anatomy of TFCC accurately, evaluate and make the general classification of injuries. It is of significance for the early diagnosis and treatment protocols of the TFCC injuries.

Abstract
Polarization manipulations of electromagnetic waves can be obtained by chiral and anisotropic metamaterials routinely, but the dynamic and high-efficiency modulations of chiral properties still remain challenging at the terahertz range. Here, we theoretically demonstrate a new scheme for realizing thermal-controlled chirality using a hybrid terahertz metamaterial with embedded vanadium dioxide (VO2) films. The phase transition of VO2 films in 90° twisted E-shaped resonators enables high-efficiency thermal modulation of linear polarization conversion. The asymmetric transmission of linearly polarized wave and circular dichroism simultaneously exhibit a pronounced switching effect dictated by temperature-controlled conductivity of VO2 inclusions. The proposed hybrid metamaterial design opens exciting possibilities to achieve dynamic modulation of terahertz waves and further develop tunable terahertz polarization devices.

Abstract
The interleukin-18 (IL-18) gene -607 C/A polymorphism has been reported to be associated with gastrointestinal cancer, but there are conflicting results from previous studies on said topic. Therefore, the aim of this meta-analysis is to derive a more precise estimation of the association between the -607 C/A polymorphism in the IL-18 gene and gastrointestinal cancer risk. Literature searches of PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases were carried out in 2015. Five studies were assessed with a total of 1618 cases and 1155 healthy controls. When results from all eligible studies were pooled into the meta-analysis, we found significant association between the IL-18 gene -607 C/A polymorphism and gastrointestinal cancer risk (CC vs AA: OR = 0.93, 95%CI = 0.72- 1.20; CC vs CA: OR = 0.76, 95%CI = 0.62-0.92; dominant model: OR = 1.25, 95%CI = 1.03-1.50; recessive model: OR = 1.09, 95%CI = 0.87-1.37). In the subgroup analysis, significant associations between the -607 C/A polymorphism and gastrointestinal cancer risk were found in esophageal cancer. However, this polymorphism did not appear to have any influence on gastric cancer and colorectal cancer susceptibility. In conclusion, this meta-analysis suggests that the -607 C/A polymorphism in the IL-18 gene may be associated with susceptibility to esophageal cancer. Further studies with large sample sizes are needed to confirm these conclusions.

Abstract
Chirality is ubiquitous in nature. The associated optical activity has received much attention due to important applications in spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, crystallography and optics, however, artificial chiral optical materials are complex and difficult to fabricate, especially in the optical range. Here, we propose an ultrathin dual-polarity metamaterial circular polarizer by exploiting the mechanism of giant extrinsic chirality. The polarity of the circular polarizer with large suppression of linear anisotropy can be switched by changing the sign of incident angle. The microwave experiments and optical simulations demonstrate that the large angle of incidence facilitates the high-efficiency circular polarizer, which can be realized in the whole spectra from microwave to visible frequencies. The ultrathin single-layer metamaterials with extrinsic chirality will be a promising candidate for circular polarization devices.

Abstract
A label-free and fluorescence turn-on aptamer biosensor has been developed for the detection of adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity with simplicity and selectivity. Adenosine aptamer will form a tight stem-loop structure upon binding with adenosine. In the absence of ADA, only a small quantity of picagreen intercalates into the stem section of aptamer, resulting in a low fluorescence of picagreen when excited at 490 nm. Interestingly, after the addition of ADA, adenosine is hydrolyzed to inosine, and the released aptamer forms double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) with its complementary single-stranded DNAc, followed by the intercalation of picagreen to dsDNA. When the solution is excited, picagreen emits strong green fluorescence. The increased fluorescence intensity of picagreen is dependent on the concentration of ADA. The detection limit of the ADA is determined to be 2 U L(-1), which is lower than ADA cutoff value (4 U L(-1)) in the clinical requirement and more sensitive than most of the reported methods. Compared to other previous ADA sensors, the assay is not only label-free but also a turn-on signal, and possesses properties of lower cost and simpler detection system. Furthermore, this label-free strategy is also applicable to the assay of other enzymes and screening of corresponding inhibitors.

Abstract
The morphological species concept is based on morpho-logical traits, which are often subject to subjectivity or artifact. Molecular evidence is needed to test the reliability of morphological classification of taxa that are controversial and to provide appropriate taxonomic de-limitation. In this study, we used 15 single-copy nuclear loci and 2 chloroplast fragments to verify the morphological classification of the Salix matsudana Koidz. complex using phylogenetic approaches. Complete sequence alignment showed slight diversification in nuclear sequences and no variety in chloroplast DNA fragments. Phylogenetic trees revealed a monophyletic group consisting of all individuals of S. matsudana and 2 clades within this group, with a 100% bootstrap support value and 1.00 posterior probability. The topology of the phylogenetic trees was highly consistent with the morphological classification of the S. matsudana complex. Verifying the genetic background of these classification units based on remarkable morphological differences will provide a foundation for future studies of Salix and the breeding of new horticultural varieties.

Abstract
To identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms that contribute to the genetic susceptibility to schizophrenia, we examined the potential association between schizophrenia and 9 single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs1530351, rs4791230, rs2869577, rs8077696, rs8070231, rs2292592, rs9916525, rs1122079, and rs4790953) in the G-protein signaling 9 gene. The participants included 395 schizophrenia subjects and 400 healthy controls. The selected single nucleotide polymorphisms were genotyped using mass spectrometry techniques. The allelic or genotypic frequencies of the rs4791230 (promoter region) polymorphisms in subjects with schizophrenia were significantly different from those in healthy controls. The subjects with schizophrenia had a significantly higher frequency of the G allele (P = 0.030, odds ratio = 1.589, 95% confidence interval = 1.042-2.422) of rs4791230. Strong linkage disequilibrium was observed in 4 blocks (D' > 0.9). Significantly fewer T-A (rs1530351-rs4791230) haplotypes (P = 0.029) were found in subjects with schizophrenia. These findings suggest a role of G-protein signaling 9 polymorphisms in schizophrenia among Han Chinese and may be informative for future genetic or neurobiological studies on schizophrenia.

Abstract
Tumstatin (Tum) is a powerful angiostatin that inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of tumorous vascular endothelial cells. A nonpathogenic and anaerobic bacterium, Bifidobacterium longum (BL), selectively localizes to and proliferates in the hypoxia location within solid tumor. The aims of this study were to develop a novel delivery system for Tum using engineered Bifidobacterium and to investigate the inhibitory effect of Tum on tumor in mice. A vector that enabled the expression of Tum under the control of the pBBADs promoter of BL was constructed and transformed into BL NCC2705 by electroporation. The mouse colon carcinoma cells CT26 (1 × 10(7)/mL) were subcutaneously inserted in the left armpit of BALB/c mice. The tumor-bearing mice were treated with Tum-transformed BL, and green fluorescent protein (GFP)-transformed BL was used as a negative control. The microvessel density (MVD) in the transplanted tumor was determined, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated 2'-deoxyuridine 5'-triphosphate nick end labeling was used to detect apoptosis of vascular endothelial cells in transplanted tumor. The in vitro expression of Tum was examined in BL after l-arabinose induction. Bifidobacterium longum with pBBAD-Tum (BL-Tum) showed significant antitumor effect in tumor-bearing mice. The weight, volume, growth, and MVD, as well as the percentage of apoptotic vascular endothelial cells of transplanted tumors in the tumor-bearing mice treated with Tum-transformed BL were all significantly lower than those in the GFP negative control group. Intragastric administration, injection in tumor and vena caudalis injection of Tum-transformed BL exerted marked antitumor effects in tumor-bearing mice. This is the first demonstration of the utilization of Tum-transformed BL as a specific gene delivery system for treating tumor.

Abstract
Most female herbivores ensure to lay eggs where their offspring can develop successfully. The oviposition preferences of females affect strategies in pest management. In this study, the performance of two cohorts of Trichoplusia ni larvae on cabbage and cotton (after they had been transferred from their original host plants) were investigated. The preferences of female moth ovipositing and larval feeding on these two host plants were observed. The results indicated that plants significantly affected oviposition preference of the female adults and development and survival of larvae of T. ni. All females preferred to lay eggs on cabbage than cotton regardless from which host they originated. The detrimental effects of cotton on the development and survival of T. ni larvae originated from cabbage (CaTn) increased with the increase of the larval age when they were transferred. In addition, the host plant change did not significantly affect the development and survival of larvae of T. ni originating from cotton (CoTn). Larvae of CaTn preferred cabbage plants as compared to cotton plants, whereas larvae of CoTn did not show a significant choice. Although the adult females preferred laying eggs on cabbage, they did not show preferences between cotton and cabbage in a Y-tube olfactometer test. The hypothesis of oviposition preference and performance of larvae was supported by the results of CaTn, whereas they not supported by those from CoTn. Based on these results, the strategy to manage this serious pest was discussed.

Abstract
Bemisia tabaci is an important agricultural pest with worldwide distribution and host preference. Therefore, understanding the biology of this pest is important to devise specific pest control strategies. The antennae of herbivorous insects play an important role in the identification of hosts using plant volatiles. To understand the features of antennae in B. tabaci MEAM 1(formerly known as biotype 'B') and MED (formerly known as biotype 'Q'), the morphology and distribution of the antennal sensilla were examined using scanning electron micrographs. The results showed that the average antennae length in MEAM 1 was longer than MED. No differences were observed in the number and distribution of antennal sensilla in MEAM 1 and MED antennae; each antenna had nine different types of sensilla. Both cryptic species possessed Microtrichia, Grooved surface trichodea sensilla, Chaetae sensilla, Coeloconic sensillaⅠandⅡ, Basiconic sensilla Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ and Finger-like sensilla. This is the first report of Grooved surface trichodea sensilla and Basiconic sensilla Ⅱ on B. tabaci flies. The numbers of Chaetae sensilla were different in the females and males of MEAM 1 and MED, which females having 5 and males containing 7. The surface structure of Basiconic sensilla Ⅰ was different with MEAM 1 showing a multiple-pitted linen surface and MED showing a multiple-pitted pocking surface. Basiconic sensillaⅡ were double in one socket with the longer one having a multiple-pitted surface and the shorter one with a smooth surface. Basiconic Ⅲ and Finger-like sensillae were longer in MEAM 1 antennae than in MED antennae. Our results are expected to further the studies that link morphological characteristics to insect behavior and help devise strategies to control insect pests.

Abstract
The high mortality in breast cancer is often associated with metastatic progression in patients. Previously we have demonstrated that testes-specific protease 50 (TSP50), an oncogene overexpressed in breast cancer samples, could promote cell proliferation and tumorigenesis. However, whether TSP50 also has a key role in cell invasion and cancer metastasis, and the mechanism underlying the process are still unclear. Here we found that TSP50 overexpression greatly promoted cell migration, invasion, adhesion and formation of the stellate structures in 3D culture system in vitro as well as lung metastasis in vivo. Conversely, TSP50 knockdown caused the opposite changes. Mechanistic studies revealed that NF-κB signaling pathway was required for TSP50-induced cell migration and metastasis, and further results indicated that TSP50 overexpression enhanced expression and secretion of MMP9, a target gene of NF-κB signaling. In addition, knockdown of MMP9 resulted in inhibition of cell migration and invasion in vitro and lung metastasis in vivo. Most importantly, immunohistochemical staining of human breast cancer samples strongly showed that the coexpression of TSP50 and p65 as well as TSP50 and MMP9 were correlated with increased metastasis and poor survival. Furthermore, we found that some breast cancer diagnosis-associated features such as tumor size, tumor grade, estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) levels, were correlated well with TSP50/p65 and TSP50/MMP9 expression status. Taken together, this work identified the TSP50 activation of MMP9 as a novel signaling mechanism underlying human breast cancer invasion and metastasis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the feasibility, safety and short term efficacy of video assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) lobectomy for patients with early-stage lung cancer. METHODS We reviewed clinical data of 138 consecutive patients with early stage lung cancer who underwent lobectomy in the First People's Hospital of Jining during the January 2010 to May 2012. Of them, 71 cases were performed complete VATS, male 39 cases, female 32 cases, age (57.9 ± 10.6) years old; 67 cases were performed thoracotomy, male 36 cases, female 31 cases, age (60.3 ± 8.2) years old. Clinical features were collected and compared. RESULTS Operations of two groups were successfully finished. Compared with thoracotomy group, the differences in intraoperative blood loss (147 ± 113 ml vs. 146 ± 91 ml), number of lymph node dissection group (3.1 ± 1.3 vs. 3.4 ± 1.3), the number of lymph node dissection (9.9 ± 3.6 vs. 10.0 ± 3.6), and vision analog score (VAS) of postoperative 1st and 3rd day in VATS group were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Statistical differences were observed in operation time (119 ± 27 min vs. 135 ± 29 min), the thoracic drainage tube time (3.0 ± 0.9 d vs. 3.8 ± 1.2 d), postoperative hospital stay (8.0 ± 2.1 d vs. 10.2 ± 5.4 d), postoperative VAS of 30th day (2.6 ± 0.7 vs. 3.2 ± 1.1), and postoperative complications (8.5% vs. 19.4%) between the two groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Video assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy for early lung cancer is safe and effective, with fewer traumas, fewer complications, faster postoperative recovery, milder chronic chest pain, and other advantages. At the same time, the lymph node dissection of VATS lobectomy is similar to that of thoracotomy.

Abstract
Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) is a globally distributed pest. One of the key endosymbionts in B. tabaci is Wolbachia, an α-proteobacterium implicated in many important biological processes. Previous studies indicated that the infection frequency of Wolbachia in Middle East-Asia Minor 1 (MEAM1) and Mediterranean (MED) varied greatly among populations in different areas. However, little is known about the factors that influence the prevalence of Wolbachia in B. tabaci. In this paper, 25 field populations were collected from different locations in China, and 1,161 individuals were screened for the presence of Wolbachia using a nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based method, which targets the wsp gene, to confirm Wolbachia infection status. The prevalence of Wolbachia ranged from 1.54 to 66.67% within the 25 field populations, and the infection frequency of Wolbachia was affected significantly by the putative species of B. tabaci. The infection frequency (51.55%) of Wolbachia was significantly greater in native species than in the MED (25.65%) and MEAM1 (14.37%). With the exception of host plant, all factors, including putative species, geographic location, and the sex of the host, affected the Wolbachia infection frequency in whiteflies. Six Wolbachia strains were found and clustered into four distinct clades upon phylogenetic analyses. Furthermore, Wolbachia in B. tabaci have close relationships with those from other host species, including Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess), Sogatella furcifera (Horvath), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), and Culex pipiens L. The results demonstrated the variation and diversity of Wolbachia in B. tabaci field populations, and that the application of nested PCR extended our knowledge of Wolbachia infection in B. tabaci, especially in invasive whiteflies.

Abstract
As a result of human activities, wild populations of Cunninghamia lanceolata (Cupressaceae) have sharply declined in recent years. The development and implementation of a valid conservation strategy require a clear understanding of the genetic makeup of this species. Eleven polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized from samples of 52 individuals from the Provenance Test Plantation in Fenyi, Jiangxi Province, China. Among the loci, 10 were polymorphic and 1-34 (average 18.182) alleles per locus were identified. Observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0 to 0.750 (mean 0.456) and 0 to 0.968 (mean 0.749), respectively. These microsatellite loci may facilitate further research on the molecular breeding and population genetics of C. lanceolata and its relatives.

Abstract
This study was performed to determine the influence of pig breed and gender on the ultimate pH and physicochemical properties of pork. The correlations between pH and pork quality traits directly related to carcass grade, and consumer’s preference were also evaluated. The pH and meat grading scores for cold carcasses of 215 purebred pigs (Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire) from four different farms were obtained. Meat quality parameters of the pork loin were analyzed. Duroc and female animals were more affected compared to other breeds and male pigs. Duroc animals had the highest ultimate pH, carcass back fat thickness, marbling scores, yellowness, and fat content (p<0.05). Landrace pigs had the highest color lightness and cooking loss values (p<0.05). Among all trait parameters, marbling scores showed the highest significant differences when evaluating the impact of breed and gender on meat quality characteristics (p<0.001). Ultimate pH was positively correlated with carcass weight (0.20), back fat thickness (0.19), marbling score (0.17), and color score (0.16) while negatively correlated with cooking loss (−0.24) and shear force (−0.20). Therefore, pork samples with lower ultimate pH had lower cooking loss, higher lightness, and higher shear force values irrespective of breed.

Abstract
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L., Guttiferae) is a tropical fruit renowned for its pleasant taste, rich nutrition, and medicinal value. Little research about mangosteen diseases during storage and transport has been reported. In June of 2012, fruit rots on mangosteens imported from Thailand were observed in Guangzhou, China. In infected fruits, pericarps showed an increased firmness, were discolored to deep pink, and the edible aril became brown and rotten. In order to search for the etiological agent of this rot symptom, infected mangosteens were analyzed. Diseased mangosteen tissues were surface-sterilized with 70% alcohol, then with 0.1% HgCl2, dipped in sterilized water three times, and placed onto potato dextrose agar (PDA) at 26°C. The fungi isolated from tissues of the pericarp and aril were similar in morphology and grew rapidly, covering the plate surface (9 mm diameter) after 2 to 3 days of incubation at 26°C. The morphological characters of 10 single-spore isolates were observed. These isolates showed light yellow to light brown fertile colonies on PDA. On corn meal agar (CMA), conidiophores were erect, arising from wide hyphae; they were composed of a basal stipe ending in a penicillate conidiogenous apparatus with directly subtending sterile stipe extensions ranging from 74.5 to 195.0 μm long. Conidia were unicellular, smooth, oblong to elliptical, 6.3 to 8.5 × 2.5 to 3.0 μm, and accumulated in a mucilaginous mass. Chlamydospores were multicellular, dark brown, regular in shape and thick-walled, and 40.0 to 52.5 μm in diameter. On the basis of these morphological characters, these isolates were identified as Gliocephalotrichum bulbilium (2). To confirm the identity of this fungus, genomic DNA of two isolates was extracted, and fragments of ITS region and β-tubulin gene were amplified by PCR, sequenced, and compared with sequences of Gliocephalotrichum species available in NCBI GenBank. Both DNA regions (GenBank Accession Nos. KF716166 and KF716168) had sequence similarities of 99% and 97%, respectively, to other G. bulbilium sequences at GenBank. Pathogenicity tests were conducted on three detached fruits for two isolates. Fruits were inoculated using 5-mm mycelial disks with conidia taken from 3-day-old cultures of G. bulbilium isolate Gb1 and Gb10 grown on PDA. Controls were inoculated with PDA disks only. All treated fruits were kept individually in a humid chamber at 26°C. Tests were repeated twice. Three days after inoculation, white mycelial growth for Gb was observed at inoculation sites. Eight days after inoculation, mycelium of Gb nearly covered the fruit, causing fruit rot, and the pericarp became hard and light in color. The control fruit did not rot. G. bulbilium was re-isolated from diseased plant tissue, thus fulfilling Koch's postulates. G. bulbilium has been reported causing postharvest fruit rot of rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) and guava (Psidium guajava) in some locations (3,4). Moreover, the fungus caused cranberry fruit rot in the United States (1). To our knowledge, this is the first report of G. bulbilium causing postharvest fruit rot of mangosteen in China. It is uncertain whether the fungus infected mangosteen in Thailand and was carried to China due to commercial relationship. References: (1) C. Constantelos et al. Plant Dis. 95:618, 2011. (2) C. Abstract
The genomic expression profile of the super-hybrid rice Liangyoupeijiu female parent Pei'ai 64S in different tissues at different developmental stages under low temperature, drought, and high temperature stresses were detected using an Affymetrix GeneChip Rice Genome Array to screen upregulated and downregulated genes. In this study, we screened the drought-resistant gene OsRCI2-5, after which a constitutive OsRCI2-5 construct was created and transferred into Nipponbare. After polyethylene glycol-6000 and drought treatment, we found that the OsRCI2-5 gene improved the drought resistance of Nipponbare. Gene expression profiling showed that the OsRCI2-5 gene was expressed in the rice leaves, stems, and flower organs. Subcellular localization revealed that the gene was located in the membranes, and hence, we can deduce that a membrane signal peptide was responsible for signal transduction.

Abstract
Adenylyl cyclase 2 (ADCY2), a class B member of adenylyl cyclases, is important in accelerating phosphor-acidification as well as glycogen synthesis and breakdown. Given its distinct role in flesh tenderization after butchering, we cloned and sequenced the ADCY2 gene from Yanbian cattle and assessed its expression in bovine tissues. A 2947 bp nucleotide sequence representing the full-length cDNA of bovine ADCY2 gene was obtained by 5' and 3' remote analysis computations for gene expression. Analyses of the putative protein sequence showed that ADCY2 had high homology among species, except with the non-mammal Oreochromis niloticus. Gene structural domain analyses in humans and rats indicated that the ADCY2 protein had no flaw; only the transmembrane domain was reduced and the CYCc structure domain was shortened. Assessment of ADCY2 expression in bovine tissues by real-time PCR showed that the highest expression was in the testes, followed by the longissimus dorsi, tensor fasciae latae, and latissimus dorsi. These data will serve as a foundation for further insight into the cattle ADCY2 gene.

Abstract
Surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) is considered to be an effective approach to obtain a nanostructured layer in the treated surface of metals. In this study, we evaluated the effect of SMAT on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion properties of biodegradable Mg-1Ca alloy, with pure Mg as control. Grain refinement layers with grain size at the nanometer scale in the topmost surface were successfully prepared on Mg-1Ca alloy using SMAT technique, similar to pure Mg. The SMAT not only refined the surface layer of Mg-1Ca alloy, but also promoted the re-dissolution of the Mg2Ca phase into the matrix. As a result, the microhardness of the SMATed samples in the near-surface region was considerably enhanced, and the surface roughness and wettability of the SMATed samples were increased. However, the SMAT led to high density of crystalline defects such as grain boundaries (subgrain boundaries) and dislocations, which severely weakened the corrosion resistance of Mg-1Ca alloy, same as pure Mg.
