Abstract
Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) is a common clinical challenge, requiring timely and orderly initiation of synergistic anti-inflammatory and reparative therapy. Although the existing cascade drug delivery system can realize sequential drug release through regulation of the chemical structure of drug carriers, it is difficult to adjust the release kinetics of each drug based on the patient's condition. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a cascade drug delivery system that can dynamically adjust drug release and realize personalized treatment. Herein, we developed a responsive cascade drug delivery scaffold (RCDDS) which can adapt to the therapeutic time window, in which Vitamin B12 is used in early controllable release to suppress inflammation and nerve growth factor promotes regeneration by cascade loading. The RCDDS exhibited the ability to modulate the drug release kinetics by hierarchically opening polymer chains triggered by ultrasound, enabling real-time adjustment of the anti-inflammatory and neuroregenerative therapeutic time window depending on the patient's status. In the rat sciatic nerve injury model, the RCDDS group was able to achieve neural repair effects comparable to the autograft group in terms of tissue structure and motor function recovery. The development of the RCDDS provides a useful route toward an intelligent cascade drug delivery system for personalized therapy.

Abstract
Hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs) that are differentiated from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) provide a valuable resource for drug screening and cell-based regeneration therapy. Differentiating HLCs into 3D spheroids enhances their phenotypes and functions. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying MSCs hepatogenic differentiation are not fully understood. In this study, we generated HLCs from human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADMSCs) in both 2D and 3D cultures. We performed an acetyl-proteomics assay on the HLCs derived from both 2D and 3D differentiation and identified a differential change in H3K56 acetylation between the 2 differentiated cells. Our findings revealed that 3D differentiation activated ALB gene transcription by increasing the acetylation level of H3K56, thereby enhancing the phenotypes and functions of HLCs and further promoting their maturation. Notably, inhibiting p300 reduced the acetylation level of H3K56 during hepatogenic differentiation, leading to decreased phenotypes and functions of HLCs, whereas activation of p300 promoted hepatogenic differentiation, suggesting that p300 plays a critical role in this process. In summary, our study demonstrates a potential mechanism through which 3D spheroids differentiation facilitates hADMSCs differentiation into HLCs by promoting p300-mediated H3K56 acetylation, which could have significant clinical applications in liver regeneration and disease modeling.

Abstract
Green innovation (GI) is increasingly recognised as an effective strategy for tackling climate change, mitigating environmental issues, and promoting sustainable development. Using panel data of the Chinese listed firms from 2007 to 2019, this study adopts the difference-in-differences approach to assess the impact of the green finance policy (GFP) initiated by the Chinese government in 2012 on the green innovation performance of firms. The findings reveal that the GFP significantly boosts the green innovation performance of heavily polluting enterprises (HPEs). Notably, this effect is more pronounced in state-owned enterprises and firms with high dependence on external finance. Compared with penalty-based regulations, incentive-based and voluntary environmental regulations demonstrate more significant moderating effects on the relationship between the GFP and green innovation performance for HPEs. We also identify improved efficiency in the usage of green investments as a potential mechanism through which the GFP enhances the green innovation performance of HPEs. Further comparative analysis shows that green enterprises can achieve simultaneous improvement in both the quality and quantity of green innovation, whereas HPEs predominantly exhibit enhancements in innovation quantity. To maximise the GFP's positive effects, it is recommended to facilitate more targeted bank lending towards HPEs to support their structural transformation. Additionally, the coordinated deployment of diverse environmental policy instruments is advised to exploit their synergistic effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Hani people, who reside in Yuanyang County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, rely on rice terrace farming as their primary livelihood. They utilize plants in various traditional ritual practices. The Hani people have categorized the value of plants based on their natural attributes and have refined the ways of using different plants in specific rituals through practical observations and experiences derived from their agricultural culture. Although the plants used in these rituals hold significant cultural value, they have yet to be studied from the perspective of ethnobotany. This study aims to approach the ritual plants using ethnobotanical methods. METHODS Ethnobotanical fieldwork was conducted in 10 villages in Yuanyang County between 2021 and 2023. Data were collected from the local Hani people through semi-structured interviews and participatory observations and 41 informants were interviewed during the field investigations. The frequency of citation (FC) and relative frequency of citation (RFC) were utilized to evaluate the relative importance of ritual plants among the local communities. RESULTS A total of 36 plant species, belonging to 18 families and 34 genera, were recorded as being used in 11 ritual practices by the Hani people. Rosaceae, Poaceae, and Fabaceae were found to have the highest number of species. Most of the ritual plants used by the Hani people were collected from the wild. FC and RFC analysis showed that the preferred plants for Hani rituals were Rhus chinensis Mill, Oryza sativa L., Phyllostachys sulphurea (Carr.) A. et C. Riv. and Musa basjoo Siebold & Zucc. ex Iinuma. The 11 rituals are all centered around the performance of people, crops and livestock. The Hani people use plants in different rituals mainly based on their biological attributes. CONCLUSIONS Many rituals of the Hani people are closely related to their production and livelihood, and the plants used in these rituals are deeply rooted in Hani's traditional ecological knowledge and beliefs. The Hani people's reverence for nature, respect for life, gratitude towards ancestors, and seeking blessings and disaster prevention for their families, crops, and livestock are all reflected in these rituals and their utilization of ritual plants. The Hani people showcase their agricultural culture in the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces through plant-based ritual performances. Studying ritual plants in the core area of the Hani Rice Terraces is of great significance for protecting the Hani Terrace farming culture. In the future, it is essential to pay more attention to the role of traditional knowledge in biodiversity conservation.

Abstract
Background Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with alterations in the gut microbiome. However, there are few studies on gut microbiota of children with ASD in China, and there is a lack of consensus on the changes of bacterial species. Purpose Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with alterations in the gut microbiome. However, there are few studies on gut microbiota of children with ASD in China, and there is a lack of consensus on the changes of bacterial species. Methods We used 16S rRNA sequencing to analyze ASD children (2 to 12 years), HC (2 to 12 years). Results Our findings showed that the α-diversity, composition, and relative abundance of gut microbiota in the ASD group were significantly different from those in the HC groups. Compared with the HC group, the α-diversity in the ASD group was significantly decreased. At the genus level, the relative abundance of g_Faecalibacterium, g_Blautia, g_Eubacterium_eligens_group, g_Parasutterella, g_Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group and g_Veillonella in ASD group was significantly increased than that in HC groups, while the relative abundance of g_Prevotella 9 and g_Agathobacter was significantly decreased than that in HC groups. In addition, KEGG pathway analysis showed that the microbial functional abnormalities in ASD patients were mainly concentrated in metabolic pathways related to fatty acid, amino acid metabolism and aromatic compound metabolism, and were partially involved in neurotransmitter metabolism. Conclusion This study revealed the characteristics of gut microbiota of Chinese children with ASD and provided further evidence of gut microbial dysbiosis in ASD.

Abstract
T4 polynucleotide kinase helps with DNA recombination and repair. In this study, an electrochemical biosensor was developed for a T4 polynucleotide kinase activity assay and inhibitor screening based on phosphate pillar[5]arene and multi-walled carbon nanotube nanocomposites. The water-soluble pillar[5]arene was employed as the host to complex thionine guest molecules. The substrate DNA with a 5'-hydroxyl group initially self-assembled on the gold electrode surface through chemical adsorption of the thiol group, which was phosphorylated in the presence of T4 polynucleotide kinase. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles served as a bridge to link phosphorylated DNA and phosphate pillar[5]arene and multi-walled carbon nanotube composite due to strong phosphate-Ti4+-phosphate chemistry. Through supramolecular host-guest recognition, thionine molecules were able to penetrate the pillar[5]arene cavity, resulting in an enhanced electrochemical response signal. The electrochemical signal is proportional to the T4 polynucleotide kinase concentration in the range of 10-5 to 15 U mL-1 with a detection limit of 5 × 10-6 U mL-1. It was also effective in measuring HeLa cell lysate-related T4 polynucleotide kinase activity and inhibitor screening. The proposed method offers a unique sensing platform for kinase activity measurement, holding great potential in nucleotide kinase-target drug development, clinical diagnostics, and inhibitor screening.

Abstract
In Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS), the cobalt catalyst has higher C5+ and lower CH4 selectivity in the hcp phase than in the fcc phase. However, a detailed explanation of the intrinsic mechanism is still missing. The underlying reason was explored combining density functional theory, Wulff construction, and a particle-level descriptor based on the slab model of surfaces that are prevalent in the Wulff shape to provide single-particle level understanding. Using a particle-level indicator of the reaction rates, we have shown that it is more difficult to form CH4 on hcp-Co than on fcc-Co, due to the larger effective barrier difference of CH4 formation and C-C coupling on hcp-Co particles, which leads to the lower CH4 selectivity of hcp-Co in FTS. Among the exposed facets of fcc-Co, the (311) surface plays a pivotal role in promoting CH4 formation. The reduction of CH4 selectivity in cobalt-based FTS is achievable through phase engineering of Co from fcc to hcp or by tuning the temperature and size of the particles.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Behçet's syndrome (BS) is a rare disease of unknown etiology, with limited reports especially in pediatric BS. The clinical characteristics and phenotypes of pediatric BS as a highly heterogeneous variable vessel vasculitis were investigated in this study. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare clinical variables and descriptive characteristics of BS by age of onset and gender. Cluster analysis was then performed to identify the phenotypes of pediatric BS. RESULTS A total of 2082 BS patients were included in this study, 1834 adults and 248 children. Compared with adult-onset BS, pediatric BS had a higher incidence of folliculitis [relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.3 (1.0-1.5)], uveitis of the left eye [RR and 95% CI 2.3 (1.0-5.0)], intestinal ulcer complications [RR and 95% CI 2.1 (1.1-4.2)], pericarditis [RR and 95% CI 2.5 (1.0-6.2)], and psychiatric disorders [RR and 95% CI 2.8(1.0-7.9)], while the incidence of thrombocytopenia was lower [RR 0.2 (0.1-1.0)]. Among pediatric BS, females had more genital ulcers, while males were more likely to have skin lesions, panuveitis, vascular involvement, venous lesions, cardiac involvement, and aortic aneurysms. Cluster analysis classified pediatric BS into five clusters (C1-C5): C1 (n = 61, 24.6%) showed gastrointestinal (GI) involvement; C2 (n = 44, 17.7%) was the central nervous system (CNS) type where 23 cases overlapped joint involvement; in C3 (n = 35, 14.1%), all patients presented with arthritis or arthralgia; all patients in C4 (n = 29, 11.7%) manifested ocular involvement, with a few patients overlapping with GI involvement or joint damage; C5 (n = 79, 31.9%) was the mucocutaneous type, presenting both oral ulcers, genital ulcers, and skin lesions. CONCLUSIONS The clinical features of pediatric and adult BS differ significantly. Male and female pediatric BS also have a distinct demography. Five phenotypes including GI, CNS, joint, ocular, and mucocutaneous types were identified for pediatric BS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung (IMA) is a unique and rare subtype of lung adenocarcinoma with poorly defined prognostic factors and highly controversial studies. Hence, this study aimed to comprehensively identify and summarize the prognostic factors associated with IMA. METHODS A comprehensive search of relevant literature was conducted in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases from their inception until June 2023. The pooled hazard ratio (HR) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) of overall survival (OS) and/or disease-free survival (DFS) were obtained to evaluate potential prognostic factors. RESULTS A total of 1062 patients from 11 studies were included. In univariate analysis, we found that gender, age, TNM stage, smoking history, lymph node metastasis, pleural metastasis, spread through air spaces (STAS), tumor size, pathological grade, computed tomography (CT) findings of consolidative-type morphology, pneumonia type, and well-defined heterogeneous ground-glass opacity (GGO) were risk factors for IMA, and spiculated margin sign was a protective factor. In multivariate analysis, smoking history, lymph node metastasis, pathological grade, STAS, tumor size, and pneumonia type sign were found to be risk factors. There was not enough evidence that epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations, anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutations, CT signs of lobulated margin, and air bronchogram were related to the prognosis for IMA. CONCLUSION In this study, we comprehensively analyzed prognostic factors for invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung in univariate and multivariate analyses of OS and/or DFS. Finally, 12 risk factors and 1 protective factor were identified. These findings may help guide the clinical management of patients with invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung.

Abstract
The diagnostic value of cerebrospinal fluid chemokine c-x-c motif ligand 13 (CSF CXCL13) for neurosyphilis was assessed by meta-analysis in this study. PubMed, Web of Science and Embase databases were searched to identify relevant articles by using MeSH and free terms of CXCL13 and neurosyphilis. A total of 720 syphilis and 338 neurosyphilis individuals in 6 articles were involved in this meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.82 (95% confidence intervals (CI), 0.77-0.87) and 0.84 (95% CI, 0.79-0.87). The pooled positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, diagnostic odds ratio and the area under receiver operating characteristic curve were 5.10 (95% CI, 3.90-6.60), 0.21 (95% CI, 0.16-0.28), 24.00 (95% CI, 14.00-39.00) and 0.88 (95% CI, 0.84-0.90), respectively. In subgroup analysis, human immunodeficiency virus infection and diagnostic criteria for neurosyphilis were identified to be associated with heterogeneity. Based on limited evidence, CSF CXCL13 can be helpful in diagnosing neurosyphilis.

Abstract
Solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) suffer from the low ionic conductivity and poor capability of suppressing lithium (Li) dendrites, which limits their utility in the preparation of all solid-state Li-metal batteries (LMBs). It is reported here a flexible solid supramolecular electrolyte that incorporates a new anion capture agent, namely a phenylboronic acid functionalized calix[4]pyrrole (C4P), into a poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) matrix. The resulting solid-state supramolecular electrolyte demonstrates high ionic conductivity (1.9 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 60 °C) and a high Li+ transference number (t Li + ${t}_{{\mathrm{Li}}^{\mathrm{ + }}}$ = 0.70). Furthermore, the assembled Li|C4P-PEO-LiTFSI|LiFePO4 cell allows for stable cycling over 1200 cycles at 1 C at 60 °C, as well as good rate performance. The favorable performance of the C4P-PEO-LiTFSI SPE leads to suggest it can prove useful in the creation of high energy density solid-state LMBs.

Abstract
Formation of starch-polyphenol complexes by high pressure homogenization (HPH) is widely used to reduce starch digestibility and delay the postprandial glycemic response, thereby benefiting obesity and associated metabolic diseases. This study investigated the effect of complexation temperature on multi-scale structures, physicochemical and digestive properties of pea starch-gallic acid (PS-GA) complexes during HPH process, while also elucidating the corresponding molecular mechanism regulating in vitro digestibility. The results demonstrated that elevating complexation temperature from 30 °C to 100 °C promoted the interaction between PS and GA and reached a peak complex index of 9.22 % at 90 °C through non-covalent binding. The enhanced interaction led to the formation of ordered multi-scale structures within PS-GA complexes, characterized by larger particles that exhibited greater thermal stability and elastic properties. Consequently, the PS-GA complexes exhibited substantially reduced digestion rates with the content of resistant starch increased from 28.50 % to 38.26 %. The potential molecular mechanism underlying how complexation temperature regulated digestibility of PS-GA complexes might be attributed to the synergistic effect of the physical barriers from newly ordered structure and inhibitory effect of GA against digestive enzymes. Overall, our findings contribute to the advancement of current knowledge regarding starch-polyphenol interactions and promote the development of functional starches with low postprandial glycemic responses.

Abstract
Bacteriorhodopsin is a biological material with excellent photosensitivity properties. It can directly convert optical signals into electrical signals and is widely used in various biosensors. Here, we present a bR-based wearable pH biometer that can be used to monitor wound infection. The mechanism of the pH-sensitive effect of the bR electrode is explained, which generates a transient photovoltage under light irradiation and a negative photovoltage when the lamp is turned off. Since the photoelectric signal of bR is affected by different pH values, the photovoltage is changed by adjusting the pH value. The ratio (Vn/Vp) of negative photovoltage (Vn) to positive photovoltage (Vp) has a good linear relationship (R2 = 0.9911) in the pH range of 4.0-10.0. In vitro experiments using rats as a model confirmed that this wearable pH biometer can monitor pH changes that occur in wound infection.

Abstract
Methamphetamine is a highly addictive psychostimulant drug that is abused globally and is a serious threat to health worldwide. Unfortunately, the specific mechanism underlying addiction remains unclear. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the characteristics of functional connectivity in the brain network and the factors influencing methamphetamine use disorder in patients using magnetic resonance imaging. We included 96 abstinent male participants with methamphetamine use disorder and 46 age- and sex-matched healthy controls for magnetic resonance imaging. Compared with healthy controls, participants with methamphetamine use disorder had greater impulsivity, fewer small-world attributes of the resting-state network, more nodal topological attributes in the cerebellum, greater functional connectivity strength within the cerebellum and between the cerebellum and brain, and decreased frontoparietal functional connectivity strength. In addition, after controlling for covariates, the partial correlation analysis showed that small-world properties were significantly associated with methamphetamine use frequency, psychological craving, and impulsivity. Furthermore, we revealed that the small-word attribute significantly mediated the effect of methamphetamine use frequency on motor impulsivity in the methamphetamine use disorder group. These findings may further improve our understanding of the neural mechanism of impulse control dysfunction underlying methamphetamine addiction and assist in exploring the neuropathological mechanism underlying methamphetamine use disorder-related dysfunction and rehabilitation.

Abstract
Resolving low sulfur reaction activity and severe polysulfide dissolution remains challenging in metal-sulfur batteries. Motivated by a theoretical prediction, herein, we strategically propose nitrogen-vacancy tantalum nitride (Ta3N5-x) impregnated inside the interconnected nanopores of nitrogen-decorated carbon matrix as a new electrocatalyst for regulating sulfur redox reactions in room-temperature sodium-sulfur batteries. Through a pore-constriction mechanism, the nitrogen vacancies are controllably constructed during the nucleation of Ta3N5-x. The defect manipulation on the local environment enables well-regulated Ta 5d-orbital energy level, not only modulating band structure toward enhanced intrinsic conductivity of Ta-based materials, but also promoting polysulfide stabilization and achieving bifunctional catalytic capability toward completely reversible polysulfide conversion. Moreover, the interconnected continuous Ta3N5-x-in-pore structure facilitates electron and sodium-ion transport and accommodates volume expansion of sulfur species while suppressing their shuttle behavior. Due to these attributes, the as-developed Ta3N5-x-based electrode achieves superior rate capability of 730 mAh g-1 at 3.35 A g-1, long-term cycling stability over 2000 cycles, and high areal capacity over 6 mAh cm-2 under high sulfur loading of 6.2 mg cm-2. This work not only presents a new sulfur electrocatalyst candidate for metal-sulfur batteries, but also sheds light on the controllable material design of defect structure in hopes of inspiring new ideas and directions for future research.

Abstract
Background The optimal dose of indacaterol for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was in debate. We did this network meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of three dosages (75, 150, and 300 μg) of indacaterol in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD. Methods We searched studies from inception until January 20, 2023 on PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science database. All studies comparing different doses of indacaterol for COPD were included in this network meta-analysis. Outcomes were forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), exacerbation rate, St. George respiratory questionnaire (SGRQ), transitional dyspnea index (TDI), and adverse events. Weighted mean difference (WMD) and odds ratio (OR) with 95% credible interval (CrI) was calculated by R software with gemtc package. Results Finally, a total of 10 studies (4,991 patients) were finally included in this network meta-analysis. Indacaterol 75 μg (WMD: 0.07; 95% CrI: 0.05-0.08), indacaterol 150 μg (WMD: 0.13; 95% CrI: 0.12-0.14), and indacaterol 300 μg (WMD: 0.22; 95% CrI: 0.22-0.23) were all more effective than the placebo, and the difference was statistically significant. Indacaterol 75 μg (OR: 0.80; 95% CrI: 0.53-1.21), indacaterol 150 μg (OR: 0.59; 95% CrI: 0.45-0.78), indacaterol 300 μg (OR: 0.35; 95% CrI: 0.26-0.46) were more effective than the placebo in terms of exacerbation rate, and the difference was statistically significant. The surface under the cumulative ranking (SUCRA) showed that indacaterol 300 μg ranked first, indacaterol 150 μg ranked second, indacaterol 75 μg ranked third, and placebo ranked the last for FEV1, SGRQ, TDI, exacerbation rate. There was no significant difference among the adverse events (P>0.05). Conclusions Considering the network meta-analysis and rankings, 300 μg indacaterol is superior to the other two dosages in treating patients with moderate-to-severe COPD. However, the quality of available evidence limits the formation of powerful conclusions regarding the comparative efficacy or safety of different doses of indacaterol used to treat COPD. Higher-quality randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are required for further research in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Among people living with HIV (PLHIV) on antiretroviral therapy (ART), the mortality of immunological non-responders (INRs) is higher than that of immunological responders (IRs). However, factors associated with immunological non-response following ART are not well documented. METHODS We obtained data for HIV patients from the National Free Antiretroviral Treatment Program database in China. Patients were grouped into IRs (CD4 cell count ≥ 350 cells/μl after 24 months' treatment), immunological incomplete responders (ICRs) (200-350 cells/μl) and INRs (< 200 cells/μl). Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess factors associated with immunological non-response. RESULTS A total of 3900 PLHIV were included, among whom 2309 (59.2%) were IRs, 1206 (30.9%) ICRs and 385 (9.9%) INRs. In multivariable analysis, immunological non-response was associated with being male (2.07, 1.39-3.09), older age [40-49 years (vs. 18-29 years): 2.05, 1.29-3.25; 50-59 years: 4.04, 2.33-7.00; ≥ 60 years: 5.51, 2.84-10.67], HBV co-infection (1.63, 1.14-2.34), HCV co-infection (2.01, 1.01-4.02), lower CD4 + T cell count [50-200 cells/μl (vs. 200-350 cells/μl): 40.20, 16.83-96.01; < 50 cells/μl: 215.67, 85.62-543.26] and lower CD4/CD8 ratio (2.93, 1.98-4.34) at baseline. Compared with patients treated with non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) based regimens, those receiving protease inhibitors (PIs) based regimens were less likely to be INRs (0.47, 0.26-0.82). CONCLUSIONS We found a sizable immunological non-response rate among HIV-infected patients. Being male, older age, coinfection with HBV and HCV, lower CD4 + T cell count and lower CD4/CD8 ratio are risk factors of immunological non-response, whereas PIs-based regimens is a protective factor.

Abstract
Ionically conductive fibers have promising applications; however, complex processing techniques and poor stability limit their practicality. To overcome these challenges, we proposed a stress-induced adaptive phase transition strategy to conveniently fabricate self-encapsulated hydrogel-based ionically conductive fibers (se-HICFs). se-HICFs can be produced simply by directly stretching ionic hydrogels with ultra-stretchable networks (us-IHs) or by dip-drawing from molten us-IHs. During this process, stress facilitated the directional migration and evaporation of water molecules in us-IHs, causing a phase transition in the surface layer of ionic fibers to achieve self-encapsulation. The resulting sheath-core structure of se-HICFs enhanced mechanical strength and stability while endowing se-HICFs with powerful non-contact electrostatic induction capabilities. Mimicking nature, se-HICFs were woven into spider web structures and camouflaged in wild environments to achieve high spatiotemporal resolution 3D depth-of-field sensing for different moving media. This work opens up a convenient route to fabricate stable functionalized ionic fibers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In many areas of China, over 30% of tuberculosis cases occur among the elderly. We aimed to investigate the spatial distribution and environmental factors that predicted the occurence of tuberculosis in this group. METHODS Data were collected on notified pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) cases aged ≥ 65 years in Zhejiang Province from 2010 to 2021. We performed spatial autocorrelation and spatial-temporal scan statistics to determine the clusters of epidemics. Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) analysis was used to identify significant environmental factors and their spatial spillover effects. RESULTS 77,405 cases of PTB among the elderly were notified, showing a decreasing trend in the notification rate. Spatial-temporal analysis showed clustering of epidemics in the western area of Zhejiang Province. The results of the SDM indicated that a one-unit increase in PM2.5 led to a 0.396% increase in the local notification rate. The annual mean temperature and precipitation had direct effects and spatial spillover effects on the rate, while complexity of the shape of the greenspace (SHAPE_AM) and SO2 had negative spatial spillover effects. CONCLUSION Targeted interventions among the elderly in Western Zhejiang may be more efficient than broad, province-wide interventions. Low annual mean temperature and high annual mean precipitation in local and neighboring areas tend to have higher PTB onset among the elderly.

Abstract
Objective To examine the association between the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and the odds of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)among U.S. adults. Methods Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning six years (2007-2018) were utilized, encompassing 31001 eligible participants. Weighted multivariate logistic regression models and smoothed fit curves were employed to assess the association between WWI and the odds of T2DM, as well as dose-response relationships in the overall population and the odds of T2DM in various subgroups. Results In the fully adjusted continuous model, each one-unit increase in WWI was associated with a 1.14-fold increase in the odds of T2DM within the entire study population (2.14 [1.98,2.31], P < 0.0001). In the fully adjusted categorical model, when using the lowest tertile of WWI (T1) as the reference group, the second tertile (T2) and the third tertile (T3) were associated with a 0.88-fold (1.88 [1.64,2.17], P < 0.0001) and a 2.63-fold (3.63 [3.11,4.23], P < 0.0001) increase in the odds of T2DM. These findings indicated a positive correlation between WWI values and the odds of T2DM, aligning with the results of the smoothed-fitted curves. In the analysis of subgroups, in addition to maintaining consistency with the overall population results, we found interactions between age and hypertension subgroups. Conclusion In conclusion, WWI was found to be positively associated with the odds of T2DM in U.S. adults.

Abstract
Objectives This multicenter, cross-sectional study aimed to investigate whether sex differences persist among patients who have undergone bariatric surgery and tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Methods We conducted a multicenter cross-sectional study via an online electronic questionnaire to collect data. Categorical data were presented as absolute and relative frequencies. Data for continuous variables were expressed as mean and standard deviation (SD) or median [interquartile range (IQR)]. We employed ordered logistic regression to assess whether females had higher odds of an increased self-reported duration of the most severe symptom compared to males. Using a modified Poisson regression model with robust standard errors to assess the differences in clinical characteristics among COVID-19 cases. Results Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in the prevalence rates of various comorbidities. Among participants who reported their temperature during COVID-19 infection, more than half engaged in vitamin supplementation and regular exercise, while 4.2% remained asymptomatic. The probability of females experiencing a longer duration of severe symptoms increased compared to males [adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR) = 1.92, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.73-2.12]. In the multivariate mixed-effects Poisson regression analysis, compared to males, females exhibited a lower prevalence rate of asymptomatic infection [adjusted prevalence ratio (aPR 0.40, 95% CI 0.28-0.58), lower prevalence of infection without therapeutic medication use (aPR 0.76, 95% CI 0.70-0.82), and lower prevalence of multiple infections (aPR 0.39, 95% CI 0.20-0.74)]. Conclusion This cross-sectional study indicates the persistence of sex differences among patients with COVID-19 who have undergone bariatric surgery. Further research is needed to explore the underlying factors contributing to this disparity.

Abstract
Antimony is highly toxic and a key water pollutant, which needs to be monitored closely. To date, however, most analytical methods for antimony detection are quite limited because they are complicated, expensive, and not suitable for real-time monitoring of antimony. In this study, a label-free and rapid method for antimony ions (Sb3+) detection is developed based on liquid crystals and a 10-mer poly-adenine oligonucleotide as a specific recognition probe for the first time. The working principle is based on the binding of the oligonucleotide to Sb3+, which weakens the interaction between the oligonucleotide and cationic surfactants. As a result, the event induces a planar-to-homeotropic orientational change of liquid crystals and a bright-to-dark optical change under crossed polars. This liquid crystal-based optical sensor exhibits a rapid response to Sb3+ in 10 s, a detection range between 20 nM and 5 μM, and a detection limit at 6.7 nM calculated from 10-mins assay time. It also shows good selectivity against other metal ions including Ag+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, K+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Na+, Pb2+, and Zn2+. Moreover, this system can be used to detect Sb3+ in aqueous solutions with different pH or ionic strengths. This simple, fast, and low-cost liquid crystal-based sensing approach with high sensitivity and selectivity has a high potential for detecting Sb3+ in natural environments and industrial wastewater.

Abstract
Objective Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) is a common systemic metabolic bone disorder that is owing to the reduced estrogen secretion and imbalance of bone absorption and bone formation in postmenopausal women. Ferroptosis has been identified as a novel modulatory mechanism of osteoporosis. Nevertheless, the particular modulatory mechanism between ferroptosis and PMOP is still unclear. The objective of the current investigation was to detect potential biomarkers connected to ferroptosis in PMOP and discover its probable mechanism through bioinformatics. Methods We downloaded PMOP-related microarray datasets from the database of Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and obtained the differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Utilizing bioinformatics analysis, the DEGs were intersected with the ferroptosis dataset to obtain ferroptosis-connected mRNAs. Enrichment analysis employing KOBAS 3.0 was conducted to comprehend the biological functions and enrichment pathways of the DEGs. The generation of the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was conducted with the aim of identifying central genes. Lastly, the coexpression and competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks were built using Cytoscape. With the help of external datasets GSE56815 to verify the reliability of the hub genes by plotting ROC curves. Results We identified 178 DE microRNAs (miRNAs), 138 DE circular RNAs (circRNAs), and 86 ferroptosis-related mRNAs. Enrichment analysis exhibited that mRNAs were primarily connected with the signaling pathways of PI3K/Akt, metabolism, mTOR, FoxO, HIF-1, AMPK, MAPK, ferroptosis, VEGF, and NOD-like receptors. Generation of the PPI network detected eight hub genes. The circRNA/miR-23b-3p/PTEN axis may relieve PMOP by inhibiting ferroptosis through targeting the pathway of PI3K/Akt signaling, which is a vital modulatory pathway for PMOP progression. Moreover, the ROC curves ultimately indicates that the four hub genes have greater diagnostic importance in PMOP samples in contrast to the normal group samples, which may be possible markers for PMOP diagnosis. Conclusions Bioinformatics analysis identified four hub genes, namely, PTEN, SIRT1, VEGFA, and KRAS, as potential biomarkers for PMOP diagnosis and management. Moreover, the circRNA/miR-23b-3p/PTEN axis may relieve PMOP by suppressing ferroptosis through targeting the pathway of PI3K/Akt signaling, providing a new avenue to explore the pathogenesis of PMOP.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program on enhancing nursing students' clinical judgment ability and understanding of nursing students' experiences of the combined simulation. METHODS A sequential exploratory mixed-methods study was conducted in a nursing simulation center of a university in Central China. Third-year nursing students (n = 122) taking clinical training in ICUs were subsequentially assigned to the integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program arm (n = 61) or the face-to-face simulation-only arm (n = 61) according to the order in which they entered in ICU training. Clinical judgment ability was measured by the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR). Focus group interviews were conducted to gather qualitative data. RESULTS Students in both arms demonstrated significant improvement in clinical judgment ability scores after simulation, and students in the integrated arm reported more improvement than students in the face-to-face simulation-only arm. The qualitative quotes provided a context for the quantitative improvement measured by the LJCR in the integrated arm. Most of the quantitative findings were confirmed by qualitative findings, including the domains and items in the LJCR. The findings verified and favored the effect of the combination of non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation integrated program on enhancing nursing students' clinical judgment ability. CONCLUSIONS The integrated virtual simulation and face-to-face simulation program was feasible and enhanced nursing students' self-reported clinical judgment ability. This integrated non-immersive virtual simulation and high-fidelity face-to-face simulation program may benefit nursing students and newly graduated nurses in the ICU more than face-to-face simulation only.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates that organophosphate esters (OPEs) exposure may affect semen quality. As a crucial factor in male reproduction, reproductive hormones might be linked organophosphate esters (OPEs) exposure and semen quality. This study aimed to explore the mediating role of reproductive hormones on the association between OPEs exposure and semen quality. Five serum reproductive hormones, semen quality, and 16 urinary OPE metabolites were measured among 491 reproductive-aged men from a reproductive center. The associations of urinary OPE metabolites with reproductive hormones and semen quality were assessed using multivariable linear regression models, and the mediating role of reproductive hormones was evaluated by mediation analyses. We found that follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) was positively associated with diphenyl phosphate (DPHP) that in turn was negatively associated with sperm total count. In addition, inverse associations were exhibited between serum FSH and sperm concentration, sperm total count, total motility, and progressive motility (all Ptrend <0.05). Mediation analysis further showed that FSH mediated 13.7% of the inverse association of DPHP and sperm total count. Although further investigations are required, our results suggest that FSH was an intermediate mechanism in the associations between OPEs exposure and impaired semen quality.
