Abstract
Degradation of the kinetically trapped bulk heterojunction film morphology in organic solar cells (OSCs) remains a grand challenge for their practical application. Herein, we demonstrate highly thermally stable OSCs using multicomponent photoactive layer synthesized via a facile one-pot polymerization, which show the advantages of low synthetic cost and simplified device fabrication. The OSCs based on multicomponent photoactive layer deliver a high power conversion efficiency of 11.8% and exhibit excellent device stability for over 1000 h (>80% of their initial efficiency retention), realizing a balance between device efficiency and operational lifetime for OSCs. In-depth opto-electrical and morphological properties characterizations revealed that the dominant PM6-b-L15 block polymers with backbone entanglement and the small fraction of PM6 and L15 polymers synergistically contribute to the frozen fine-tuned film morphology and maintain well-balanced charge transport under long-time operation. These findings pave the way towards the development of low-cost and long-term stable OSCs.

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the moderating effect of discrimination experiences on the association between civic engagement and sleep in youth of color. Participants included 125 college students (Mage = 20.41, SD = 1.41, 22.6% cisgender male). Most of the sample (28%) identified as Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin; 26% identified as multi-racial/ethnicity; 23% identified as Asian; 19% identified as Black or African American; and 4% identified as Middle Eastern or North African. Youth self-reported their civic engagement (civic activism and civic efficacy), discriminatory experiences, and sleep duration during the week of the 2016 United States presidential inauguration (T1) and again approximately 100 days later (T2). Civic efficacy was associated with longer sleep duration. In contexts of discrimination, however, more civic activism and efficacy was associated with less sleep duration. In contexts of low discrimination, more civic efficacy was associated with longer sleep duration. Thus, civic engagement within supportive contexts may contribute to positive sleep among youth of color. Working toward dismantling racist systems may be one way to combat the racial/ethnic sleep disparities that underlie long-term health inequalities.

Abstract
Conductive hydrogels have shown great promise in flexible electronics, but their practical applications may be impeded by the time-consuming and energy-consuming polymerization process. We proposed a sodium lignosulfonate-Fe (SLS-Fe) strategy to address this challenge and took advantage of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and poly(acrylic acid) to prepare the CMC/PAA/Fe3+/LiCl interpenetrating conductive hydrogels with good self-healing properties, antifreezing properties, and a 6-fold increase in conductivity in this study. The hydrogel-based flexible strain sensors demonstrated a broad detection range (400%), high sensitivity (GF = 6.19 at 200-400%), and human motion detection capability. The hydrogel-based supercapacitor exhibited a single-electrode specific capacitance of 122.36 F g-1 which successfully powered LEDs. Furthermore, the supercapacitor showed a single-electrode specific capacitance of 83.16 F g-1 at -23 °C (68% of the one exhibited at 25 °C). Therefore, the multifunctional performance of the CMC/PAA/Fe3+/LiCl hydrogel is anticipated to play an exemplary role in a new generation of flexible electronics.

Abstract
Instant dark teas (IDTs) were individually liquid-state fermented using the fungi Aspergillus cristatus, Aspergillus niger, and Aspergillus tubingensis. To understand how the chemical constituents of IDTs were affected by the fungi, samples were collected and measured by liquid chromatography-tandem mass-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Untargeted metabolomics analysis revealed that 1,380 chemical constituents were identified in positive and negative ion modes, and 858 kinds of chemical components were differential metabolites. Through cluster analysis, IDTs were different from the blank control, and their chemical constituents mostly included carboxylic acids and their derivatives, flavonoids, organooxygen compounds, and fatty acyls. And the metabolites of IDTs fermented by A. niger and A. tubingensis had a high degree of similarity and were classified into one category, which showed that the fungus used to ferment is critical to the formation of certain qualities of IDTs. The biosynthesis of flavonoids and phenylpropanoid, which involved nine different metabolites such as p-coumarate, p-coumaroyl-CoA, caffeate, ferulate, naringenin, kaempferol, leucocyanidin, cyanidin, and (-)-epicatechin, were significant pathways influencing the quality formation of IDTs. Quantification analysis indicated that the A. tubingensis fermented-IDT had the highest content of theaflavin, theabrownin, and caffeine, while the A. cristatus fermented-IDT had the lowest content of theabrownin, and caffeine. Overall, the results provided new insights into the relationship between the quality formation of IDTs and the microorganisms used in liquid-state fermentation.

Abstract
The kidney is susceptible to lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced damage with sepsis, and renal dysfunction is a leading cause of mortality in patients with sepsis. However, the renoprotective effects of ferulic acid (FA) during sepsis and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. This study explored these renoprotective effects using NRK-52E cells and mice with LPS-induced renal damage. The results showed that after LPS challenge, NRK-52E cell viability decreased, whereas lactate dehydrogenase, caspase-3 activity, apoptosis, the release of the inflammatory cytokines, and reactive oxygen species generation increased. Further, the activities of endogenous enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant systems, and energy metabolism were inhibited, mitochondrial membrane potential was lost, mitochondrial permeability transition pores opened, renal blood flow and excretory functions were reduced, and the morphology and ultrastructure of renal tissue were seriously damaged in mice exposed to LPS. FA pretreatment upregulated AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) α1 expression and phosphorylation and significantly reversed the aforementioned functional, enzymological, and morphological indexes in vivo and in vitro. However, these renoprotective effects of FA were attenuated by compound C, an AMPK inhibitor. In conclusion, FA pretreatment can upregulate AMPKα1 expression and phosphorylation, inhibit inflammatory cytokine release and oxidative stress, improve mitochondrial function and energy supply, alleviate apoptosis, and ultimately protect renal tissue against LPS damage.

Abstract
The effects of ball milling processing on the structure, physicochemical, and functional properties of insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) in bran from prosomillet, wheat and rice were investigated. Meanwhile, the effect of IDF on glucose tolerance and blood lipid levels in mice was evaluated as well. With findings, for all three grains, the particle sizes of IDF were significantly reduced after ball milling treatment (p < 0.05). Scanning electron microscopy revealed fragmented fiber with numerous pores and cracks. The reactive groups of three IDF samples were found to be similar by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. And consistent with X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis, for all three grains, ball milling reduced the crystallinity of IDF and helped to increase the release of free phenol by 23.4 %, 8.9 %, and 12.2 %, respectively. Furthermore, the water holding capacity, glucose delay capacity, glucose, sodium cholate, and cholesterol adsorption capacity, and in vitro digestibility of starch and fat were all improved to varying degrees. Animal experiments showed that ball milling treatment effectively slowed the postprandial rise in blood sugar (especially IDF of rice bran) and blood lipids (especially IDF of prosomillet bran). As a result, ball milling treatment is a potential method for dietary fiber modification in the food industry.

Abstract
Solid-contact ion-selective electrodes are a type of ion measurement devices that have been focused in wearable biotechnology based on the features of miniaturization and integration. However, the solid-contact reference electrodes (SC-REs) remain relatively less focused compared with numerous working (or indicator) electrodes. Most SC-REs in wearable sensors rely on Ag/AgCl reference electrodes with solid electrolytes, for example, the hydrophilic electrolyte salts in polymer matrix, but face the risk of electrolyte leakage. Herein, we report a type of SC-REs based on the silver/silver tetraphenylborate (Ag/AgTPB) organic insoluble electrode. The SC-RE consists of a Ag substrate, a solid contact (AgTPB), and a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane containing the hydrophobic organic salt of tetrabutylammonium tetraphenylborate (TBATPB). The potentiometric measurements demonstrated that the SC-RE of Ag/AgTPB/PVC-TBATPB showed a reproducible standard potential in various electrolytes and disclosed high long-term stability. This SC-RE was further fabricated on a flexible substrate and integrated into all-solid-state wearable potentiometric ion sensor for sweat Cl- monitoring.

Abstract
As lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is closely associated with sepsis and other life-threatening conditions, the point-of-care (POC) detection of LPS is of significant importance to human health. In this work, we illustrate an electrochemical aptasensor for the POC detection of low-abundance LPS by utilizing boronate affinity (BA) as a simple, efficient, and cost-effective amplification strategy. Briefly, the BA-amplified electrochemical aptasensing of LPS involves the tethering of the aptamer receptors and the BA-mediated direct decoration of LPS with redox signal tags. As the polysaccharide chain of LPS contains hundreds of cis-diol sites, the covalent crosslinking between the phenylboronic acid group and cis-diol sites can be harnessed for the site-specific decoration of each LPS with hundreds of redox signal tags, thereby enabling amplified detection. As it involves only a single-step operation (∼15 min), the BA-mediated signal amplification holds the significant advantages of unrivaled simplicity, rapidness, and cost-effectiveness over the conventional nanomaterial- and enzyme-based strategies. The BA-amplified electrochemical aptasensor has been successfully applied to specifically detect LPS within 45 min, with a detection limit of 0.34 pg/mL. Moreover, the clinical utility has been validated based on LPS detection in complex serum samples. As a proof of concept, a portable device has been developed to showcase the potential applicability of the BA-amplified electrochemical LPS aptasensor in the POC testing. In view of its simplicity, rapidness, and cost-effectiveness, the BA-amplified electrochemical LPS aptasensor holds broad application prospects in the POC testing.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effectiveness of repetitive thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) under ultrasound (US) guidance for acute pain associated to herpes zoster (HZ) and its prophylactic effects on post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). METHODS Patients who suffered from acute pain associated to HZ within 1 week of rash onset were randomized in a ratio of 1:1 to receive a seven-day course antiviral therapy, antiviral therapy with additional US-guided repetitive TPVB using transverse short axial (TSA) approach every 48 h for a week after antiviral therapy. All patients were allowed to receive rescue analgesics. The primary endpoint was HZ burden of illness (HZ-BOI) measured by a severity-by-duration composite pain assessment conducted 1-month post inclusion. Adverse events were also recorded. RESULTS A total of 96 patients completed the entire 6-month follow-up. The BOI-30AUC was 112.5 (95%CI: 105.2, 119.9) in control group, and 82.7 (95%CI: 75.4, 90.1) in TPVB group (F = 32.252, p<.001) at D30 after inclusion. Compared with control group, significant reductions of BOI-30-90AUC, and BOI-90-180AUC were observed in TPVB group (F = 11.392, p=.001 at D90; F = 7.467, p=.007 at D180, respectively). At 3 and 6 months after inclusion, the incidence of PHN in TPVB group was significantly lower than control group. Quality of life (QoL) in TPVB group also showed greater improvements at all the time points in all domains of EQ-5D-3L (p<.05). No serious adverse events were observed. CONCLUSIONS US-guided repetitive TPVB significantly reduced the HZ-BOI and the PHN incidence compared to antiviral therapy alone. It might be considered as an early intervention and preventive strategy to the development of PHN after acute HZ.KEY MESSAGEThis is a prospective randomized comparative study. We made a hypothesis that US-guided repetitive thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) using a transverse short axial (TSA) approach to treat thoracic herpes zoster (HZ) in acute phase could reduce the burden of illness associated to acute pain. Moreover, this therapy might be a feasible preventive strategy to reduce the incidence of post-herpetic neuralgia.

Abstract
Light is a complex vectorial field characterized by its amplitude, phase, and polarization properties, which can be further represented by four basic parameters, that is, amplitudes and phases of two orthogonally polarized components. Controlling these parameters simultaneously and independently at will using metasurfaces are essential in arbitrarily manipulating the light propagation. However, most of the studies so far commonly require a great number of different meta-atoms or rely on diffraction under oblique incidence, which lack convenience and flexibility in design and implementation. Here, a new metasurface paradigm is proposed that can completely manipulate the amplitudes and phases of two spin components based on the interference effect, where only two different meta-atoms are applied. For proof-of-concept demonstration, two five-channel meta-holograms for imaging and information encryption are designed and experimentally characterized. The interference method provides a simple route toward compact complex and multifunctional meta-devices.

Abstract
Background Older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) have the possibility of reverting to normal cognitive function. Leisure activity engagement (LAE) plays a critical role in the progress of the cognitive function. A better understanding of the dynamic relationship between LAE and MCI reversion would inform the implementation of preclinical dementia interventions. This study aimed to investigate the association between change patterns of LAE and MCI reversion among older adults using the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) database. Study design Longitudinal population-based study. Methods Older adults with MCI at the baseline were enrolled in this study. Information about cognitive function, overall, cognitively stimulating, physically active/demanding, and socially engaged LAE was collected at baseline and follow-up. Adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for reversion and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated by Cox hazard models with time as the underlying time metric. We also assessed potential effect modifications by creating a cross-product of the stratifying variable with LAE change patterns in the fully adjusted model. Results The restricted cubic spline showed that the association between LAE change scores and MCI reversion rate was statistically significant and nonlinear (p<0.01). Taking participants in the low-low group as a reference, participants in the low-medium, low-high, medium-medium, medium-high, high-medium, and high-high groups had increased possibilities of MCI reversion with HRs (95% CI) of 2.19 (1.57-3.06), 2.97 (2.13-4.13), 0.87 (0.64-1.19), 2.28 (1.71-3.03), 2.78 (2.10-3.69), 1.93 (1.43-2.59), and 2.74 (2.09-3.60), respectively. Further stratified models showed that the impact of LAE change patterns on MCI reversion varied in different ages (nonagenarian, octogenarian, and younger elderly) and gender. Conclusions Participants who maintained the highest LAE had the greatest possibility of MCI reversion. Meanwhile, a higher level of LAE maintenance was associated with the increased possibility of MCI reversion. These results provide a practical message to older adults about how dynamic changes in LAE are associated with improved cognitive function.

Abstract
Both type II and Z schemes can explain the charge transfer behavior of the heterojunction structure well, but the type of heterojunction structure formed between bismuth vanadium oxide and carbon nitride still has not been clarified. Herein, we rationally prepared bismuth vanadium oxide with {010} and {012} facets predominantly and carbon nitride as a decoration to construct a core-shell structure with bismuth vanadium oxide wrapped in carbon nitride to ensure the same photocatalytic reaction interface. Through energy band establishment and radical species investigation, both {010} and {012} facets dominated bismuth vanadium oxide/carbon nitride composites exhibit the type II heterojunction structures rather than the Z-scheme heterojunctions. Furthermore, to investigate the effect of type II heterojunction, the photocatalytic tetracycline degradations were performed, finding that {010} facets dominated bismuth vanadium oxide/carbon nitride composite demonstrated the higher degradation efficiency than that of {012} facets, due to the higher conduction band energy. Additionally, through the free radical trapping experiments and intermediate detection of degradation products, the superoxide radical was proven to be the main active radical to decompose the tetracycline molecules. Therein, the tetracycline molecules were degraded to water and carbon dioxide by dihydroxylation-demethylation-ring opening reactions. This work investigates the effect of crystal planes on heterojunction types through two different exposed crystal planes of bismuth vanadate oxide, which can provide some basic research and theoretical support for the progressive and controlled synthesis of photocatalysts with heterojunction structures.

Abstract
Very recently, there is a great research interest in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) featuring thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties, i.e., TADF-ECL. It is appealing since the earlier reports in this topic well-confirmed that this strategy has a great potential in achieving all-exciton-harvesting ECL efficiency under electrochemical excitation, which is a breakthrough in the topic of organic ECL. However, organic phase electrochemistry and ECL studies surrounding TADF-ECL are still extremely rare. Especially, the ECL spectra of previous reported TADF emitters are still very different from their PL spectra. In this work, we systematically measure and discuss the liquid electrochemistry and ECL behavior of two typical TADF molecules in organic medium. Most importantly, we verify for the first time that the ECL spectra of them (coreactant ECL mode) are identical to their PL spectra counterparts, which confirms the effectiveness of TADF photophysical properties in the coreactant ECL mode in practice.

Abstract
Meso-substituted boron dipyrromethenes (BODIPYs) provide a potential and innovative strategy for the synergistic construction of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) probes and fluorescent rotors for monitoring cellular viscosity changes, which play critical roles in understanding the function of viscosity in its closely associated diseases. Therefore, for the first time, a BODIPY-based fluorescent probe (1) with a rotatable meso-benzothiazole group was rationally designed and synthesized, showing both good viscosity-responsive and AIE properties. Probe 1 through direct linkage with the thiazole group, showed nearly no emission in low viscous solvents; however, a strong emission at 534 nm appeared and increased gradually with the increase in viscosity, attributing to the efficient restriction of the rotatable meso-benzothiazole group. The intensity (log I534) displayed a good linear relationship with viscosity (log η) in the viscous range of 0.59-945 cP in methanol/glycerol mixtures. Interestingly, 1 showed enhanced emission at 534 nm in 70% water compared to pure acetonitrile due to the aggregation-induced inhibited rotations. Cellular imaging suggested that 1 could successfully sense lysosomal viscosity changes induced by lipopolysaccharide, nystatin, low temperature, and dexamethasone in living cells, which could be further applied in autophagy monitoring by tracing viscosity changes. As a comparison, its analogue 2 directly linking with the phenyl group showed no viscosity-responsive or AIE properties. Therefore, for the first time, we reported a meso-benzothiazole-BODIPY-based fluorescent rotor with AIE and lysosomal viscosity-responsive properties in nervous cells, which was further applied in monitoring autophagy, and this work thus could provide an innovative strategy for the design of potential AIE and viscosity-responsive probes.

Abstract
Electrochemical water splitting has enticed fascinating consideration as a key conduit for the advancement of renewable energy systems. Fabricating adequate electrocatalysts for water splitting is fervently preferred to curtail their overpotentials and hasten practical utilizations. In this work, a series of Ce-MOF, GO@Ce-MOF, calcinated Ce-MOF, and calcinated GO@Ce-MOF were synthesized and used as high-proficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction. The physicochemical characteristics of the prepared samples were measured by diverse analytical techniques including SEM, HRTEM, FTIR, BET, XPS, XRD, and EDX. All materials underwent cyclic voltammetry tests and were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and oxygen evolution reaction. Ce-MOF, GO@Ce-MOF, calcinated Ce-MOF, and calcinated GO@Ce-MOF have remarkable properties such as enhanced specific surface area, improved catalytic performance, and outstanding permanency in the alkaline solution (KOH). These factors upsurge ECSA and intensify the OER performance of the prepared materials. More exposed surface active-sites present in calcinated GO@Ce-MOF could be the logic for superior electrocatalytic activity. Chronoamperometry of the catalyst for 15°h divulges long-term stability of Ce-MOF during OER. Impedance measurements indicate higher conductivity of synthesized catalysts, facilitating the charge transfer reaction during electrochemical water splitting. This study will open up a new itinerary for conspiring highly ordered MOF-based surface active resources for distinct electrochemical energy applications.

Abstract
Transition metal borides (MBenes) have recently drawn great attention due to their excellent electrochemical performance as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Using the structural search code and first-principles calculations, we identify a group of the MB3 monolayers (M = V, Nb and Ta) consisting of multiple MB4 units interpenetrating with each other. The MB3 monolayers with non-chemically active surfaces are stable and have metal-like conduction. As the anode materials for Li-ion storage, the low diffusion barrier, high theoretical capacity, and suitable average open circuit voltage indicate that the MB3 monolayers have excellent electrochemical performance, due to the B3 chain exposed on the surface improving the Li atoms' direct adsorption. In addition, the adsorbed Li-ions are in an ordered hierarchical arrangement and the substrate structure remains intact at room temperature, which ensures excellent cycling performance. This work provides a novel idea for designing high-performance anode materials for LIBs.

Abstract
Background Soluble lymphocyte activation gene 3 (sLAG3) may be used for diagnosis or prognosis in various diseases. However, the relationship between sLAG3 and coronary artery disease (CAD) are still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the levels of sLAG3 in patients with CAD, and its potential clinical association with the disease. Methods A total of 66 subjects (49 patients with CAD and 17 control subjects without CAD) were enrolled. The sLAG3 level was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. Clinical variables included demographics, biochemical markers, coronary angiography status, and ejection fraction of the heart (EF) were collected, and Gensini scores were calculated. LAG3 gene data was extracted from three datasets (GSE23561, GSE61144, GSE60993) in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) to compare differential expression between CAD and control subjects. Results The sLAG3 level was significantly lower in the CAD vs. the controls (P < 0.05), and negatively associated with CAD [odds ratio (OR): 0.212, 95% confidential interval (CI): 0.060–0.746, P < 0.05]. Furthermore, the area under the curve (AUC) of sLAG3 level was significant (P < 0.05). The sLAG3 level in subjects with body mass index (BMI) ≥ 24 kg/m2 was lower compared to those with BMI < 24 kg/m2 (P < 0.05). The sLAG3 level was also negatively associated with BMI and diabetes mellitus (P < 0.05), though not associated with the Gensini scores or EF (P > 0.05). Lastly, the LAG3 gene expression in peripheral whole blood of patients with CAD were down-regulated compared to healthy controls (P < 0.05). Conclusion The sLAG3 level was negatively associated with the occurrence but not severity of CAD. Meanwhile, the sLAG3 was negatively associated with BMI and diabetes mellitus, suggesting the reduced sLAG3 might be a novel risk factor for developing CAD.
