Abstract
We report a precise measurement of the J/ψ elliptic flow in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The J/ψ mesons are reconstructed at midrapidity (|y|<0.9) in the dielectron decay channel and at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4.0) in the dimuon channel, both down to zero transverse momentum. At forward rapidity, the elliptic flow v_{2} of the J/ψ is studied as a function of the transverse momentum and centrality. A positive v_{2} is observed in the transverse momentum range 2<p_{T}<8 GeV/c in the three centrality classes studied and confirms with higher statistics our earlier results at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV in semicentral collisions. At midrapidity, the J/ψ v_{2} is investigated as a function of the transverse momentum in semicentral collisions and found to be in agreement with the measurements at forward rapidity. These results are compared to transport model calculations. The comparison supports the idea that at low p_{T} the elliptic flow of the J/ψ originates from the thermalization of charm quarks in the deconfined medium but suggests that additional mechanisms might be missing in the models.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate human exposure to live poultry (poultry feeding and purchasing) in the residents in Beijing and related factors during the second wave of avian influenza A(H7N9) epidemic during 2013-2014, and provide scientific evidence for avian influenza prevention and control. Methods: A total of 7 366 adults aged ≥18 years were selected through multi-stage stratified sampling in Beijing for a questionnaire survey. Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influence factors of human exposure to live poultry. Results: The live poultry feeding rate and live poultry purchasing rate in residents in Beijing in the past year were 5.3% (95%CI: 4.8%-5.8%) and 6.0% (95%CI: 5.5%-6.5%) respectively. Logistic regression analysis indicated that lower educational level of primary school and below, (OR=1.82, 95%CI: 1.22-2.72); being farmer (OR=2.49, 95%CI:1.89-3.29) or being unemployed (OR=1.65, 95%CI: 1.08-2.52); being non local resident (OR=1.54, 95%CI: 1.10-2.16); living in suburban area (OR=2.36, 95%CI: 1.77-3.16); having one child (OR=1.76, 95%CI: 1.42-2.17) or ≥2 children (OR=2.15, 95%CI: 1.43-3.22) in the family were the risk factors associated with feeding poultry compared with higher educational level of college and above, being employed, being local resident, living in urban area and having no child. And being farmer (OR=1.61, 95%CI: 1.27-2.02); being non local resident (OR=1.76, 95%CI: 1.31-2.35); living in suburban area (OR=2.05, 95%CI: 1.61-2.61); having one child (OR=1.24, 95%CI: 1.02-1.52) or ≥2 children (OR=1.78, 95%CI: 1.21-2.63) were the risk factors for purchasing live poultry. Conclusion: Some residents living in Beijing still have exposure to live poultry, and targeted measures should be taken to reduce the exposure to poultry.

Abstract
Circadian clocks influence most behaviours and physiological activities in animals, including daily fluctuations in metabolism. However, how the clock gene cycle influences insects' responses to pesticides has rarely been reported. Here, we provide evidence that cycle affects imidacloprid efficacy by mediating the expression of cytochrome P450 genes in the brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens, a serious insect pest of rice. Survival bioassays showed that the susceptibility of BPH adults to imidacloprid differed significantly between the two time points tested [Zeitgeber Time 8 (ZT8) and ZT4]. After cloning the cycle gene in the BPH (Nlcycle), we found that Nlcycle was expressed at higher levels in the fat body and midgut, and its expression was rhythmic with two peaks. Knockdown of Nlcycle affected the expression levels and rhythms of cytochrome P450 genes as well as susceptibility to imidacloprid. The survival rates of BPH adults after treatment with imidacloprid did not significantly differ between ZT4 and ZT8 after double-stranded Nlcycle treatment. These findings can be used to improve pesticide use and increase pesticide efficiency in the field.

Abstract
Introduction Malignant osseous foot tumours are uncommon. Their oncological outcomes have been poorly documented in the literature so far. The aim of this study was to establish the incidence and to evaluate the oncological outcomes of such patients. Methods Our large orthopaedic oncology database was used to review 70 malignant osseous foot tumour patients. Results The age at diagnosis of malignant osseous foot tumours demonstrated a bimodal distribution peaking in the second and eighth decades of life. Overall, 55 primary malignant bone tumours of the foot (79%) were identified. The median duration from onset of symptoms to diagnosis was 52 weeks (interquartile range [IQR]: 17-104). Eight primary tumours (15%) underwent an accidental excision (ie intralesional excision of a malignant bone tumour where some of the tumour has been left behind, also known as a 'whoops procedure') prior to referral to our unit. Forty-six patients (84%) underwent surgery overall and thirteen of these developed recurrence or metastases. Seven of eight patients with a previous accidental excision underwent amputation. Fifteen osseous metastatic foot lesions were identified. The median length of foot symptoms to diagnosis was 24 weeks (IQR: 20-36 weeks). The median time to death following diagnosis of osseous foot metastases was 20.1 months (IQR: 11.3-27.8 months). Conclusions A high index of suspicion and awareness of clinical features of malignant osseous foot tumours are both essential to avoid diagnostic delays. Amputation is associated with a respectable outcome for patients who have undergone previous accidental excisions.

Anomalous Evolution of the Near-Side Jet Peak Shape in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2017; 119:102301. Abstract
The measurement of two-particle angular correlations is a powerful tool to study jet quenching in a p_{T} region inaccessible by direct jet identification. In these measurements pseudorapidity (Δη) and azimuthal (Δφ) differences are used to extract the shape of the near-side peak formed by particles associated with a higher p_{T} trigger particle (1<p_{T,trig}<8 GeV/c). A combined fit of the near-side peak and long-range correlations is applied to the data allowing the extraction of the centrality evolution of the peak shape in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV. A significant broadening of the peak in the Δη direction at low p_{T} is found from peripheral to central collisions, which vanishes above 4 GeV/c, while in the Δφ direction the peak is almost independent of centrality. For the 10% most central collisions and 1<p_{T,assoc}<2 GeV/c, 1<p_{T,trig}<3 GeV/c a novel feature is observed: a depletion develops around the center of the peak. The results are compared to pp collisions at the same center of mass energy and ampt model simulations. The comparison to the investigated models suggests that the broadening and the development of the depletion is connected to the strength of radial and longitudinal flow.

Abstract
Objective: To find the differences in PM(2.5) exposure level in the context of four commuting modes (by walk, bicycle, bus and subway) in Guangzhou. Methods: The PM(2.5) exposure assessment was carried out from January to December 2015 in Guangzhou. PM(2.5) was measured by using SidePak individual dust meter (AM510, TSI Inc. USA) with time interval of 1 minute. Our measurement was taken on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in the second week of each month and the samples were collected in the morning (07:00-09:00), afternoon (11:00-13:00) and evening (17:00-19:00). Results: A total of 284 air samples during walking, 281 air samples during bicycle riding, 278 air samples in bus, and 280 air samples in subway were collected. The median PM(2.5) concentrations exposed during walking, during bicycle riding, in bus and in subway were 38.4, 38.6, 23.3 and 24.1 μg/m(3), respectively, which were positive correlated with exposure concentration in fixed surveillance sites. The exposure level was lowest in summer, and highest in winter. The median of one-way exposure level to PM(2.5) from high to low were as follows: 21.0 μg for bicycle riding, 20.1 μg for walking, 5.1 μg for taking bus and 2.6 μg for taking subway. The season and time specific one-way exposure levels to PM(2.5) of four commuting modes were consistent. Conclusions: The exposure level to PM(2.5) was obviously higher during walking and bicycle riding than that in bus and subway. The exposure level to PM(2.5) during walking was higher than that during bicycle riding, in bus and in subway.

Prediction of fecal nitrogen and phosphorus excretion for Chinese Holstein lactating dairy cows. J Anim Sci 2017; 95:3487-3496. Abstract
Mathematical models for predicting nitrogen and phosphorus excretion play a key role in manure application and environment monitoring. An analysis for prediction of fecal nitrogen (FN, g/d) and fecal phosphorus (FP, g/d) excretion for Chinese Holstein lactating dairy cows was conducted using a data set from 15 dairy farms in northern China. The whole independent-variable data set, obtained with questionnaires, consisted of 110 sets of average diet nutrient compositions, including DMI (kg/d), CP content (% DM), OM intake (OMI, kg/d), nitrogen intake (NI, g/d), and phosphorus intake (PI, g/d), and animal characteristics, including average days in milk (DIM, d), average milk yield (MY, kg/d), and average BW (kg). In addition, 110 fecal samples in total were collected to analyze FN and FP excretions, which were considered dependent variables of prediction equations. Correlations between diet and animal variables were examined, and several variable subpools were derived that were used to develop equations to predict FN and FP excretions by stepwise regression analysis. The results showed that among all variables, OMI was the best predictor for FN excretion (root-mean-square prediction error [RMSPE] = 9.58%, = 0.70), followed by NI (RMSPE = 10.19%, = 0.67). However, when both DMI and CP were used as independent variables, the equation showed more accurate prediction for FN excretion (RMSPE = 8.55%, = 0.77) in comparison with univariate prediction equations. Simultaneously, PI was the best predictor of FP excretion (RMSPE = 10.28%, = 0.67). Evaluation results using 3-fold cross validation and comparison with extant equations indicated that the proposed equations were accurate with low prediction errors, which could be recommended for use to estimate FN and FP excretions from Chinese Holstein lactating dairy cows.

Abstract
Objective The objective of this report is to evaluate the prevalence and clinico-serological correlations of anti-α-enolase antibody (Ab) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Thirty-two untreated patients with SLE and 20 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were evaluated by rheumatologic examinations. The serum levels of anti-α-enolase Ab were measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Clinical, biochemical and serological markers of disease activity were measured by standard laboratory procedure. Results The serum levels of anti-α-enolase Ab in SLE patients were higher significantly than those in healthy controls. Moreover, patients with lupus nephritis displayed significantly higher levels of serum anti-α-enolase Ab than those without renal involvement. The serum anti-α-enolase Ab levels were positively correlated with serum whole IgG and 24-hour urine protein and negatively correlated with serum D-dimer level. Conclusion These data suggest that anti-α-enolase Ab associates with active renal disease in SLE and might reflect a state of active autoimmunity and fibrinolysis inhibition.

Abstract
Chili meal is classified as a roughage due to its high dietary fiber content. Chili meal has moderate DE, ME and nutrients digestibility for growing pigs. Addition of chili meal have adverse effect on ADG and ATTD of nutrients. The combination of 50 g/kg chili meal and proper soybean has no significant negative effects for growing pigs.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the digestible energy (DE), metabolizable energy (ME) content, apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of nutrients in chili meal (CM), and to determine the effects of CM on the performance of growing pigs. In Exp. 1, 12 barrows (Duroc x Landrace x Yorkshire) with an initial body weight (BW) of 50.9 ± 1.8 kg were allocated to one of two treatments, corn-soybean meal basal diet or diet containing 194.2 g/kg CM, which replaced corn and soybean meal in the basal diet. Pigs were placed in metabolism crates for a 7-d adaptation period followed by a 5-d total collection of feces and urine to detect DE, ME and ATTD of nutrients in CM. Exp. 2 was conducted for 4 wk. to evaluate the effect of CM on performance of growing pigs. 150 growing pigs (58.4 ± 1.2 kg BW) were allocated to 1 of 5 treatments. Treatment 1 was a corn-soybean meal basal diet met the DE requirement for growing pigs recommended by NRC (2012). Treatment 2 or 3 were diets containing 50 g/kg or 100 g/kg CM respectively. Treatment: 4 or 5 were based on treatment 2 or 3, while soybean oil (SBO) was added to improve the DE content to that in treatment 1. In Exp. 1, the DE and ME content of CM were 9.08 and 8.48 MJ/kg. The ATTD of dry matter (DM), gross energy (GE), organic matter (OM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) were 0.60, 0.54, 0.66 and 0.38, respectively. In Exp. 2, addition of CM linearly decreased (P < 0.05) average daily gain (ADG) and the ATTD of DM, GE and OM while ATTD of crude protein (CP) had a quadratic (P < 0.05) change. When SBO was supplemented in diets containing CM, greater values (P < 0.05) of ATTD of most nutrients were observed. With the dietary inclusion of CM, the albumin/globulin ratio in serum had a quadratic change (P < 0.05), and the level of low-density cholesterol linearly (P < 0.05) increased. In treatments with 50 g/kg CM, a significant reduction (P < 0.05) of total antioxidant capacity was found in diet formulated with SBO. In treatments with 100 g/kg CM, the level of total cholesterol was lower (P < 0.05) in the diet with SBO. In conclusion, CM had moderate energy density and nutrients digestibility in pig diets. 50 g/kg CM with SBO in diets could be fed to growing pigs with no significant negative effects.

Abstract
We present results on transverse momentum ([Formula: see text]) and rapidity ([Formula: see text]) differential production cross sections, mean transverse momentum and mean transverse momentum square of inclusive [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] at forward rapidity ([Formula: see text]) as well as [Formula: see text]-to-[Formula: see text] cross section ratios. These quantities are measured in pp collisions at center of mass energies [Formula: see text] and 13 TeV with the ALICE detector. Both charmonium states are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel, using the muon spectrometer. A comprehensive comparison to inclusive charmonium cross sections measured at [Formula: see text], 7 and 8 TeV is performed. A comparison to non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics and fixed-order next-to-leading logarithm calculations, which describe prompt and non-prompt charmonium production respectively, is also presented. A good description of the data is obtained over the full [Formula: see text] range, provided that both contributions are summed. In particular, it is found that for [Formula: see text] GeV/c the non-prompt contribution reaches up to 50% of the total charmonium yield.

Abstract
The transverse momentum distributions of the strange and double-strange hyperon resonances (Σ ( 1385 ) ± , Ξ ( 1530 ) 0 ) produced in p-Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV were measured in the rapidity range - 0.5 < y CMS < 0 for event classes corresponding to different charged-particle multiplicity densities, ⟨ dN ch /dη lab ⟩ . The mean transverse momentum values are presented as a function of ⟨ dN ch /dη lab ⟩ , as well as a function of the particle masses and compared with previous results on hyperon production. The integrated yield ratios of excited to ground-state hyperons are constant as a function of ⟨ dN ch /dη lab ⟩ . The equivalent ratios to pions exhibit an increase with ⟨ dN ch /dη lab ⟩ , depending on their strangeness content.

Production of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] mesons up to high transverse momentum in pp collisions at 2.76 TeV. THE EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL. C, PARTICLES AND FIELDS 2017; 77:339. Abstract
The invariant differential cross sections for inclusive [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] mesons at midrapidity were measured in pp collisions at [Formula: see text] TeV for transverse momenta [Formula: see text] GeV/c and [Formula: see text] GeV/c, respectively, using the ALICE detector. This large range in [Formula: see text] was achieved by combining various analysis techniques and different triggers involving the electromagnetic calorimeter (EMCal). In particular, a new single-cluster, shower-shape based method was developed for the identification of high-[Formula: see text] neutral pions, which exploits that the showers originating from their decay photons overlap in the EMCal. Above 4 GeV/[Formula: see text], the measured cross sections are found to exhibit a similar power-law behavior with an exponent of about 6.3. Next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations differ from the measured cross sections by about 30% for the [Formula: see text], and between 30-50% for the [Formula: see text] meson, while generator-level simulations with PYTHIA 8.2 describe the data to better than 10-30%, except at [Formula: see text] GeV/[Formula: see text]. The new data can therefore be used to further improve the theoretical description of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] meson production.

Abstract
We present the first measurement of the two-particle transverse momentum differential correlation function, P_{2}≡⟨Δp_{T}Δp_{T}⟩/⟨p_{T}⟩^{2}, in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV. Results for P_{2} are reported as a function of the relative pseudorapidity (Δη) and azimuthal angle (Δφ) between two particles for different collision centralities. The Δϕ dependence is found to be largely independent of Δη for |Δη|≥0.9. In the 5% most central Pb-Pb collisions, the two-particle transverse momentum correlation function exhibits a clear double-hump structure around Δφ=π (i.e., on the away side), which is not observed in number correlations in the same centrality range, and thus provides an indication of the dominance of triangular flow in this collision centrality. Fourier decompositions of P_{2}, studied as a function of the collision centrality, show that correlations at |Δη|≥0.9 can be well reproduced by a flow ansatz based on the notion that measured transverse momentum correlations are strictly determined by the collective motion of the system.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression of CD55 in liver tissue of trichloroethylene-sensitized mice and discuss the role of CD55 in the liver immune injury of trichloroethylene-sensitized mice. Methods: 6-8 weeks specific pathogen free female BALB/c were randomly divided into blank control group, solvent control group and TCE treatment group to establish BALB/c mice sensitized model. According to mouse skin sensitization reaction score, TCE treatment mice were divided into sensitized and non-sensitized group at 24 h after the last challenge. At 48 h after the last challenge, the blood and aseptic livers were collected. The level of serum ALT was tested by automatic biochemical analyzer and pathology of the liver was observed. C5b-9 deposition was studied by immunohistochemistry (IHC) . CD55 protein expression level in liver tissue was studied by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. The expression of CD55 mRNA in liver tissue was detected by qRT-PCR. Results: Liver function test result showed level of serum ALT in TCE sensitized group was significantly higher than solvent control group and TCE non-sensitized group (P<0.05) . There was ballooning degeneration and necrosis of liver cells in TCE sensitized group. IHC demonstrated that TCE sensitized group had obviously increased content of C5b-9 but had reduced content of CD55 compared with solvent control group and TCE non-sensitized group (P<0.05) . Western blotting also showed that TCE sensitized group had lower expression of CD55 than solvent control group and TCE non-sensitized group (P<0.05) . qRT-PCR showed that CD55 mRNA expression level in liver tissue of TCE sensitized group was apparently lower than solvent control group and TCE non-sensitized group (P<0.05) . Conclusion: Complement activation may be involved in TCE-induced liver injury, and the expression change of complement regulatory protein CD55 may play essential role in the process.

Abstract
The azimuthal correlations of D mesons with charged particles were measured with the ALICE apparatus in pp collisions at [Formula: see text] and p-Pb collisions at [Formula: see text] at the Large Hadron Collider. [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] mesons and their charge conjugates with transverse momentum [Formula: see text] and rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system [Formula: see text] (pp collisions) and [Formula: see text] (p-Pb collisions) were correlated to charged particles with [Formula: see text]. The yield of charged particles in the correlation peak induced by the jet containing the D meson and the peak width are compatible within uncertainties in the two collision systems. The data are described within uncertainties by Monte-Carlo simulations based on PYTHIA, POWHEG, and EPOS 3 event generators.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Epigenetic mechanisms, such as microRNA, histone modification, and DNA methylation, are critical for dysregulated gene expression in heart failure (HF). However, the relationship between DNA methylation and dysregulated gene expression of blood leukocytes during HF remains unclear. PATIENTS AND METHODS In this study, DNA methylation status and gene expression in blood leukocytes from ischemic end-stage cardiomyopathy patients were compared to normal controls by using reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS), and the results were validated by quantitative MassARRAY analysis and RT-qPCR. RESULTS Three differentially methylated genes between two groups were identified. Furthermore, the differential expression of each corresponding gene was found to be correlated with differential DNA methylation. Diverse blood leukocyte DNA methylations existed in HF patients, which were correlated with differential expression of corresponding genes. CONCLUSIONS Therefore, detecting DNA methylation in blood leukocytes could be an attractive approach for HF study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The assessment of collaterals and clot burden in patients with acute ischemic stroke provides important information about treatment options and clinical outcome. Time-resolved C-arm conebeam CT angiography has the potential to provide accurate and reliable evaluations of collaterals and clot burden in the angiographic suite. Experience with this technique is extremely limited, and feasibility studies are needed to validate this technique. Our purpose was to present such a feasibility study. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten C-arm conebeam CT perfusion datasets from 10 subjects with acute ischemic stroke acquired before endovascular treatment were retrospectively processed to generate time-resolved conebeam CTA. From time-resolved conebeam CTA, 2 experienced readers evaluated the clot burden and collateral flow in consensus by using previously reported scoring systems and assessed the clinical value of this novel imaging technique independently. Interobserver agreement was analyzed by using the intraclass correlation analysis method. RESULTS Clot burden and collateral flow can be assessed by using the commonly accepted scoring systems for all eligible cases. Additional clinical information (eg, the quantitative dynamic information of collateral flow) can be obtained from this new imaging technique. Two readers agreed that time-revolved C-arm conebeam CTA is the preferred method for evaluating the clot burden and collateral flow compared with other conventional imaging methods. CONCLUSIONS Comprehensive evaluations of clot burden and collateral flow are feasible by using time-resolved C-arm conebeam CTA data acquired in the angiography suite. This technique further enriches the imaging tools in the angiography suite to enable a "one-stop- shop" imaging workflow for patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE 4D-DSA is a time-resolved technique that allows viewing of a contrast bolus at any time and from any desired viewing angle. Our hypothesis was that the information content in a 4D-DSA reconstruction was essentially equivalent to that in a combination of 2D acquisitions and a 3D-DSA reconstruction. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-six consecutive patients who had both 2D- and 3D-DSA acquisitions were included in the study. The angiography report was used to obtain diagnoses and characteristics of abnormalities. Diagnoses included AVM/AVFs, aneurysms, stenosis, and healthy individuals. 4D-DSA reconstructions were independently reviewed by 3 experienced observers who had no part in the clinical care. Using an electronic evaluation form, these observers recorded their assessments based only on the 4D reconstructions. The clinical evaluations were then compared with the 4D evaluations for diagnosis and lesion characteristics. RESULTS Results showed both interrater and interclass agreements (κ = 0.813 and 0.858). Comparing the 4D diagnosis with the clinical diagnosis for the 3 observers yielded κ values of 0.906, 0.912, and 0.906. The κ values for agreement among the 3 observers for the type of abnormality were 0.949, 0.845, and 0.895. There was complete agreement on the presence of an abnormality between the clinical and 4D-DSA in 23/26 cases. In 2 cases, there were conflicting opinions. CONCLUSIONS In this study, the information content of 4D-DSA reconstructions was largely equivalent to that of the combined 2D/3D studies. The availability of 4D-DSA should reduce the requirement for 2D-DSA acquisitions.

Calmodulin as a downstream gene of octopamine-OAR α1 signalling mediates olfactory attraction in gregarious locusts. INSECT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY 2017; 26:1-12. Abstract
The migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) shows aggregative traits in nymph marching bands and swarm formations through mutual olfactory attraction of conspecifics. However, olfactory preference in different nymph stages in gregarious locusts is not sufficiently explored. In this study, we found that the nymph olfactory preference for gregarious volatiles exhibited obvious variations at different developmental stages. The gregarious locusts show attractive response to conspecific volatiles from the third stadium. Transcriptome comparison between third- and fourth-stadium nymphs showed that the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) pathways are significantly enriched. Amongst the genes present in GPCR pathways, the expression level of calmodulin in locust brains significantly increased from the third- to the fourth-stadium nymphs. Amongst the four octopamine receptors (OARs) belonging to the GPCR family, only OAR α1 showed similar expression patterns to those of calmodulin, and knockdown of OAR α1 reduced the expression level of calmodulin. RNA interference of calmodulin decreased locomotion and induced the loss of olfactory attraction in gregarious locusts. Moreover, the activation of OAR α1 in calmodulin-knockdown locusts did not induce olfactory attraction of the nymphs to gregarious volatiles. Thus, calmodulin as a downstream gene of octopamine-OAR α1 (OA-OAR α1) signalling mediates olfactory attraction in gregarious locusts. Overall, this study provides novel insights into the mechanism of OA-OAR α1 signalling involved in olfactory attraction of gregarious locusts.

WNT/β-catenin signaling regulates mitochondrial activity to alter the oncogenic potential of melanoma in a PTEN-dependent manner. Oncogene 2017; 36:3119-3136. Abstract
Aberrant regulation of WNT/β-catenin signaling has a crucial role in the onset and progression of cancers, where the effects are not always predictable depending on tumor context. In melanoma, for example, models of the disease predict differing effects of the WNT/β-catenin pathway on metastatic progression. Understanding the processes that underpin the highly context-dependent nature of WNT/β-catenin signaling in tumors is essential to achieve maximal therapeutic benefit from WNT inhibitory compounds. In this study, we have found that expression of the tumor suppressor, phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN), alters the invasive potential of melanoma cells in response to WNT/β-catenin signaling, correlating with differing metabolic profiles. This alters the bioenergetic potential and mitochondrial activity of melanoma cells, triggered through regulation of pro-survival autophagy. Thus, WNT/β-catenin signaling is a regulator of catabolic processes in cancer cells, which varies depending on the metabolic requirements of tumors.

Propofol inhibits lung cancer cell viability and induces cell apoptosis by upregulating microRNA-486 expression. ACTA ACUST UNITED AC 2017; 50:e5794. Abstract
Propofol is a frequently used intravenous anesthetic agent. Recent studies show that
propofol exerts a number of non-anesthetic effects. The present study aimed to
investigate the effects of propofol on lung cancer cell lines H1299 and H1792 and
functional role of microRNA (miR)-486 in these effects. H1299 and/or H1792 cells were
treated with or without propofol and transfected or not with miR-486 inhibitor, and
then cell viability and apoptosis were analyzed by
3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and flow
cytometry. The expression of miR-486 was determined by quantitative real-time
polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) with or without propofol treatment. Western blot
was performed to analyze the protein expression of Forkhead box, class O (FOXO) 1 and
3, Bcl-2 interacting mediator of cell death (Bim), and pro- and activated caspases-3.
Results showed that propofol significantly increased the miR-486 levels in both H1299
and H1792 cells compared to untreated cells in a dose-dependent manner (P<0.05 or
P<0.01). Propofol statistically decreased cell viability but increased the
percentages of apoptotic cells and protein expressions of FOXO1, FOXO3, Bim, and pro-
and activated caspases-3; however, miR-486 inhibitor reversed the effects of propofol
on cell viability, apoptosis, and protein expression (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In
conclusion, propofol might be an ideal anesthetic for lung cancer surgery by
effectively inhibiting lung cancer cell viability and inducing cell apoptosis.
Modulation of miR-486 might contribute to the anti-tumor activity of propofol.

Abstract
Transudative ascites are a rare entity in cancer which may sometimes make their diagnosis difficult. Here, the authors report an unusual case of transudative ascites in a 50-year-old woman with ovarian cancer. The patient first presented with progressive painless gross transudative ascites for the past five months with no associated nephrotic syndrome or liver cirrhosis, and chylous ascites developed on day 14 of the admission. The ascites were transudate with serum-ascites albumin gradient (SAAG) above 11 g/L. Repeated screening of cancer cells from ascites revealed adenocarcinoma originated from ovary.

Higher Expression of NOD1 and NOD2 is Associated with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) Syndrome But Not Behcet's Disease (BD). Curr Mol Med 2016; 16:424-35. Abstract
NOD1 and NOD2 have been found to play a significant regulatory role in autoimmune disease. To analyze the role of NOD1 and NOD2 in the pathogenesis of Vogt- Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) syndrome and Behcet's disease (BD). We analyzed the expression of NOD1 and NOD2 from PBMCs by RT-PCR and Western Blot. PBMCs and DCs were cultured with NOD receptor ligands iE-DAP (NOD1) or MDP (NOD2) and cells and supernatants were analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DCs and CD4+T cells were co-cultured with or without stimulation and cells and supernatants were analyzed by FCM and ELISA. A higher expression of NOD1 and NOD2 was observed in patients with active VKH syndrome as compared with controls. However, no significant differences were found between BD patients and controls. Activation of NOD1 and NOD2 with iE-DAP or MDP markedly increased the level of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β in PBMCs and DCs and induced the expression of CD40, CD80, CD83, CD86 and HLA-DR on DCs. Activation of NOD1 and NOD2 in DCs promoted the differentiation and proliferation of CD4(+)T cells. In conclusion, activation of NOD1 or NOD2 increased the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in PBMCs and promoted the maturation and activation of human DCs in association with stimulation of Th1 and Th17 cells. Our results suggest that over-expression of NOD1 and NOD2 may be involved in the pathogenesis of VKH syndrome.

Correlated Event-by-Event Fluctuations of Flow Harmonics in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2016; 117:182301. Abstract
We report the measurements of correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of amplitudes of anisotropic flow harmonics in nucleus-nucleus collisions, obtained for the first time using a new analysis method based on multiparticle cumulants in mixed harmonics. This novel method is robust against systematic biases originating from nonflow effects and by construction any dependence on symmetry planes is eliminated. We demonstrate that correlations of flow harmonics exhibit a better sensitivity to medium properties than the individual flow harmonics. The new measurements are performed in Pb-Pb collisions at the center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The centrality dependence of correlation between event-by-event fluctuations of the elliptic v_{2} and quadrangular v_{4} flow harmonics, as well as of anticorrelation between v_{2} and triangular v_{3} flow harmonics are presented. The results cover two different regimes of the initial state configurations: geometry dominated (in midcentral collisions) and fluctuation dominated (in the most central collisions). Comparisons are made to predictions from Monte Carlo Glauber, viscous hydrodynamics, ampt, and hijing models. Together with the existing measurements of the individual flow harmonics the presented results provide further constraints on the initial conditions and the transport properties of the system produced in heavy-ion collisions.

Molecular evolutionary analysis of the high-affinity K+ transporter gene family in angiosperms. GENETICS AND MOLECULAR RESEARCH 2016; 15:gmr8781. Abstract
The high-affinity K(+) transporter (HKT) family comprises a group of multifunctional cation transporters widely distributed in organisms ranging from Bacteria to Eukarya. In angiosperms, the HKT family consists primarily of nine types, whose evolutionary relationships are not fully understood. The available sequences from 31 plant species were used to perform a comprehensive evolutionary analysis, including an examination of selection pressure and estimating phylogenetic tree and gene duplication events. Our results show that a gene duplication in the HKT1;5/HKT1;4 cluster might have led to the divergence of the HKT1;5 and HKT1;4 subfamilies. Additionally, maximum likelihood analysis revealed that the HKT family has undergone a strong purifying selection. An analysis of the amino acids provided strong statistical evidence for a functional divergence between subfamilies 1 and 2. Our study was the first to provide evidence of this functional divergence between these two subfamilies. Analysis of co-evolution in HKT identified 25 co-evolved groups. These findings expanded our understanding of the evolutionary mechanisms driving functional diversification of HKT proteins.
