Abstract
To elucidate the effect of thyroid hormone receptor α A (thraa) on metamorphosis, the full length cDNA of half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossus semilaevis was cloned. The relative gene transcript level of thraa at different development stages was quantified using real-time PCR. Transcription of thraa increased and declined rapidly during metamorphosis. Hyperthyroidism was induced in juveniles and larvae with exposure to T3 and T4, and hypothyroidism with thiourea (TU), 2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole (MMI). thraa mRNA was higher in fish treated for 6 days with MMI than in untreated controls, although inhibited larvae did not complete metamorphosis. The addition of exogenous T4 reversed this effect in the MMI-treated group, but not in the TU-treated group. In situ hybridization revealed progressive tail end of body growth and change during developmental stages, with corresponding changes in thraa expression. This process may be induced by thyroid hormones with thraa as a major mediator. The morphological changes of tip of the tail may be associated with the development of lateral swimming.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the outcomes of lesser arc perilunate injuries (Perilunate dislocations) treated with arthroscopically assisted mini-invasive reduction and fixation. METHODS Between 2012 and 2014, 5 patients who had a perilunate dislocation were treated with arthroscopically assisted reduction and percutaneous fixation. The mean follow-up was 17.8 months (range, 10 to 32 months). Clinical outcomes were evaluated on the basis of range of motion; grip strength; Mayo wrist score; Quick disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand questionnaire; and patient-rated wrist evaluation score. Radiographic evaluations included carpal alignments and any development of arthritis. RESULTS The range of flexion-extension motion of injured wrist averaged 84% of the values for contralateral wrist. The grip strength of the injured wrist averaged 90% of the values for the contralateral wrists. The mean Quick Disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand score was 1, and the mean Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation score was 5. According to the Mayo wrist scores, the overall functional outcomes were rated as excellent in all the patients. Reduction obtained during the operation was maintained within normal ranges in all the patients. Arthritis had not developed in any patient at the end of the follow-up. CONCLUSION Arthroscopic mini-invasive reduction with percutaneous fixation is a reliable and favorable alternative in the treatment of perilunate dislocations according to our early results.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the outcomes of applying microvascular anastomotic coupling devices in solitary upper extremity artery injury repairs and to optimize parameters for optimal clinical outcome. METHODS From March to September 2013, 19 injured arteries from 18 male patients who presented at Department of Hand Surgery, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital with traumatic arterial lacerations of their upper extremities went through rapid repair procedures. COUPLER, a microvascular anastomotic coupling device was applied in these artery injury repair operations. The 19 repaired arteries included 3 brachial arteries, 6 ulnar arteries and 10 radial arteries. After the procedures, all the 18 patients were then followed up by clinical specialists and examined with color doppler flow imaging for the effective recovery of artery circulation and upper extremities functionality. RESULTS The average time of artery repairs for all the 19 damaged arteries among the 18 patients was 278 s and the average follow-up time was (71.5±40.9) d with the longest follow-up time as 116 d and shortest as 14 d. No patient returned to the operating room after the procedures and after being dismissed from the hospital. None of the 18 cases were reported to have problems with circulation and thrombosis formation in their upper extremities. Color Doppler imaging showed that the arterial anastomotic site for all the 19 repaired arteries were unobstructed with artery blood spectrum at both ends. Three patients with radial artery repairs complained about mild pressure pain at the site of vascular anastomosis; while the other 15 patients all expressed satisfactory outcomes of the surgery and recovery. These evidences indicated that the outcomes of our initial evaluation for the solitary upper extremity artery injury repairs by using anastomotic coupling devices were positive. CONCLUSION Our observations have showed that microvascular anastomotic coupling devices can be used for repairing of solitary upper extremity artery injures. The procedures are quick, effective and safe. The clinical application of this microvascular anastomotic coupling device in artery injures is promising, however, additional evidences through further clinical investigation with more cases are warranted.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the efficacy and safety of bivalirudin use in Chinese patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) during the peri-percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) period. METHODS A total of 3 271 patients who underwent PCI and received periprocedural bivalirudin treatment between July 2013 and October 2015 from 88 centers of China were involved in this study. The primary outcome was 30-day net adverse clinical events (NACE a composite of major adverse cardiac or cerebral events (MACE, all-cause death, reinfarction, urgent target vessel revascularization, or stroke) or bleeding), the secondary outcome was stent thrombosis at 30 days. RESULTS The mean age of enrolled patients was (65.12±12.44) years old, 27.4%(889/3 244) of them were female. Percent of stable coronary disease (SCD), non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) and ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) was 5.0%(162/3 248), 44.6%(1 450/3 248) and 50.4%(1 636/3 248) respectively. Radial access was performed in 89.5% (2 879/3 271) patients, and 9.7% (316/3 271) and 34.1% (1 115/3 271) patients also received ticagrelor and tirofiban medication. 69.3% (2 266/3 271) patients received post-procedural bivalirudin infusion, in which 46.3% (1 050/2 266) was treated at PCI-does, with a median duration of 2.5(1.0, 4.0) h. During the 30-day follow-up, NACE occurred in 3.45% (103/2 988) patients, the incidence of MACE, death was 2.17% (65/2 994) and 1.03% (31/3 017), respectively and bleeding events were recorded in 1.37% (41/2 996) patients. Four cases (0.13%) of stent thrombosis (3 acute stent thrombosis) were recorded. CONCLUSION Peri-PCI Bivalirudin use is safe and related with low bleeding risk in Chinese CHD patients.

Abstract
Acoustic-resolution photoacoustic microscopy (ARPAM) provides a spatial resolution on the order of tens of micrometers, and is becoming an essential tool for imaging fine structures, such as the subcutaneous microvasculature. High lateral resolution of ARPAM is achieved using high numerical aperture (NA) of acoustic transducer; however, the depth of focus and working distance will be deteriorated correspondingly, thus sacrificing the imaging range and accessible depth. The axial resolution of ARPAM is limited by the transducer's bandwidth. In this work, we develop deconvolution ARPAM (D-ARPAM) in three dimensions that can improve the lateral resolution by 1.8 and 3.7 times and the axial resolution by 1.7 and 2.7 times, depending on the adopted criteria, using a 20-MHz focused transducer without physically increasing its NA and bandwidth. The resolution enhancement in three dimensions by D-ARPAM is also demonstrated by in vivo imaging of the microvasculature of a chick embryo. The proposed D-ARPAM has potential for biomedical imaging that simultaneously requires high spatial resolution, extended imaging range, and long accessible depth.

Abstract
The aim of this research was to study the clinical significance and expression of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) and p3Forkhead transcription factor-3 (Foxp3) in peripheral blood of patients with gastric carcinoma (GC) and to investigate the effects in the occurrence and development process of GC, to further comprehend their clinical values and provide a theoretical basis for the early diagnosis and immunotherapy of GC. The expression levels of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Tregs in GC patients, at TNM staging, differentiated degree, lymphatic metastasis, cancer sites and cancer diameter of GC, were analyzed within the groups. The comparison of the expression levels of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Tregs in peripheral blood between the GC group and the healthy control group showed a statistically significant difference. At TNM staging within the groups, pairwise comparisons of the expression levels of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Tregs indicated that differences among the stage I+II group, stage III group and stage IV group were statistically significant. The expression levels of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Tregs are closely relative to the occurrence and development of GC, providing theoretical bases and evidence for the early diagnosis, prognosis evaluation and immunotherapy of GC.

Abstract
Three-dimensional photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) has gained considerable attention within the biomedical imaging community during the past decade. Detecting laser-induced photoacoustic waves by optical sensing techniques facilitates the idea of all-optical PAM (AOPAM), which is of particular interest as it provides unique advantages for achieving high spatial resolution using miniaturized embodiments of the imaging system. The review presents the technology aspects of optical-sensing techniques for ultrasound detection, such as those based on optical resonators, as well as system developments of all-optical photoacoustic systems including PAM, photoacoustic endoscopy, and multi-modality microscopy. The progress of different AOPAM systems and their representative applications are summarized.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cholecystokinin (CCK), a gut hormone that is released during feeding, exerts gastrointestinal effects in part through vagal pathway. It is reported to be a potential trigger for increased postprandial visceral sensitivity in healthy subjects and, especially in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. NR2B-containing N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptors in the central amygdala (CeA) participate in pain modulation. Systemically administered CCK activates the CeA-innervating neurons. Here, we investigated whether CCK modulation of visceral sensitivity is mediated through CeA NMDA-NR2B receptors and whether this modulation involves vagal pathway. METHODS We first examined the visceromotor response (VMR) to colorectal distention (CRD) following i.p. injection of CCK octapeptide (CCK-8) in a rat model. Next, the NR2B antagonist ifenprodil and the NR2A antagonist NVP-AAM077 were microinjected into the CeA before systemic CCK injection. NR2B phosphorylation was detected by Western blot. To down-regulate NR2B gene expression, NR2B-specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) was delivered into CeA neurons by electroporation. In addition, the effects of functional deafferentation by perivagal application of capsaicin and pretreatment with the CCK1 receptor antagonist devazepide were investigated. KEY RESULTS CCK-8 increased VMR to CRD in a dose-dependent manner. This effect was blunted by intra-CeA administration of ifenprodil (but not NVP-AAM077) and was accompanied by phosphorylation of NR2B subunits in the CeA. CCK failed to increase VMR to CRD in NR2B siRNA-treated rats. Perivagal capsaicin application and pretreatment with devazepide prevented CCK-induced pronociception and CeA NR2B phosphorylation. CONCLUSIONS & INFERENCES The pronociception induced by systemic CCK, which is vagal afferent-dependent, requires activation of CeA NMDA-NR2B receptors.

Abstract
The objectives of the present study were to estimate the GHR1 gene mutations and methylation status of CpGs, and whether those mutations and methylation were involved in the regulation of GHR1 gene expression, hormone level and growth traits in half-smooth tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis). Identification of single-nucleotide polymorphisms was performed on 43 male fish. Through polymerase chain reaction-single-strand conformation polymorphism and sequencing, two SNPs were found. SNP1 [c.G1357A (p.Val376Ile)] creating one CpG site located in exon 8 was named L1 locus, and SNP2 (c.G1479A) located in exon 9 was named L2 locus. Individuals were divided into three genotypes, AA, AG and GG according to L1 locus (GG genotype had one more CpG site because of the mutation), and into two genotypes, AA- and GG-based on L2 locus. The results showed that only L1 locus was significantly associated with body weight (P < 0.01), gonad weight (P ≤ 0.05), triiodothyronine (T3) level (P ≤ 0.05) and mRNA expression (P < 0.01). At L1 locus, newly created CpG site in GG genotype was highly methylated (93.3 %), while there was no difference of methylation level in the other two CpG sites among three genotypes. AA genotype and AG genotype having higher T3 level were significantly different (P ≤ 0.05) from GG genotype. There were significant differences among body weights of AA, AG and GG genotypes (P < 0.01). Gonad weights of AA genotype and AG genotype were significantly lower than GG genotype. The GHR1 mRNA expression of GG genotype was significantly lower than AA and AG genotypes (P < 0.01). These implied that mutations and methylation status of GHR1 gene might influence the hormone level, growth traits and gene expression in male half-smooth tongue sole and the L1 locus could be regarded as a potential candidate genetic and epigenetic marker in half-smooth tongue sole selection.

Abstract
A new brain-cell line derived from Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus (POBC) was established. POBC was subcultured for 67 passages over the course of 420 days. The cultured cells were primarily epithelioid-like. Chromosome analysis revealed the cell line to possess the normal P. olivaceus diploid karyotype of 2n = 48t (telocentric chromosomes). The cells exhibited the astrocyte marker glial fibrillary acidic protein by immunocytochemistry, and significant fluorescent signals were observed when the cells were transfected with green fluorescent protein reporter plasmid. The established POBC would be ideal material for the study of function of fish ependyma, the central neuroendocrine system and endocrine disruptors in the marine environment.

Abstract
This study aimed to improve understanding of the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of primary bone marrow (PBM) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a rare illness. We report a 56-year-old man with pancytopenia and hyperbilirubinemia but without lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly, or splenomegaly. Bone marrow aspiration, flow cytometry, biopsy, and immunohistochemistry confirmed DLBCL. Two cycles of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone were administered. Blood cell numbers and hyperbilirubinemia improved. Although the patient did not completely recover, he survived for at least 3 years after chemotherapy and receiving blood transfusions. PBM DLBCL is a distinct, aggressive lymphoma characterized by lymphoma cells only in the bone marrow and effectively treated via chemotherapy. Prognoses for PBM DLBCL vary.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging in the detection of triangular fibrocartilage complex injury through a meta-analysis. A comprehensive literature search was conducted before 1 April 2014. All studies comparing magnetic resonance imaging results with arthroscopy or open surgery findings were reviewed, and 25 studies that satisfied the eligibility criteria were included. Data were pooled to yield pooled sensitivity and specificity, which were respectively 0.83 and 0.82. In detection of central and peripheral tears, magnetic resonance imaging had respectively a pooled sensitivity of 0.90 and 0.88 and a pooled specificity of 0.97 and 0.97. Six high-quality studies using Ringler's recommended magnetic resonance imaging parameters were selected for analysis to determine whether optimal imaging protocols yielded better results. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of these six studies were 0.92 and 0.82, respectively. The overall accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging was acceptable. For peripheral tears, the pooled data showed a relatively high accuracy. Magnetic resonance imaging with appropriate parameters are an ideal method for diagnosing different types of triangular fibrocartilage complex tears.

Abstract
The Arabidopsis vacuolar H(+)-pyrophosphatase (AVP1) has been well studied and subsequently employed to improve salt and/or drought resistance in herbaceous plants. However, the exact function of H(+)-pyrophosphatase in woody plants still remains unknown. In this work, we cloned a homolog of type I H(+)-pyrophosphatase gene, designated as PtVP1.1, from Populus trichocarpa, and investigated its function in both Arabidopsis and poplar. The deduced translation product PtVP1.1 shares 89.74% identity with AVP1. Semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and quantitative real-time PCR analyses revealed a ubiquitous expression pattern of PtVP1.1 in various tissues, including roots, stems, leaves and shoot tips. Heterologous expression of PtVP1.1 rescued the retarded-root-growth phenotype of avp1, an Arabidopsis knock out mutant of AVP1, on low carbohydrate medium. Overexpression of PtVP1.1 in poplar (P. davidiana × P. bolleana) led to more vigorous growth of transgenic plants in the presence of 150 mM NaCl. Microsomal membrane vesicles derived from PtVP1.1 transgenic plants exhibited higher H(+)-pyrophosphatase hydrolytic activity than those from wild type (WT). Further studies indicated that the improved salt tolerance was associated with a decreased Na(+) and increased K(+) accumulation in the leaves of transgenic plants. Na(+) efflux and H(+) influx in the roots of transgenic plants were also significantly higher than those in the WT plants. All these results suggest that PtVP1.1 is a functional counterpart of AVP1 and can be genetically engineered for salt tolerance improvement in trees.

Abstract
A titanium membrane was used to isolate the Schneiderian membrane of the bony walls of the sinus so that we could investigate their role on the formation of bone after sinus lifts compared with a control group (conventional raising of the sinus floor) in which we did not use a membrane to isolate any area. Three canine models of lifting the sinus floor using the lateral window technique were established: conventional lifting of the floor (control group), raising of the floor with the mucosa shielded (mucosal shielding group), and raising of the floor with the bony wall shielded (bony wall shielding group). The formation of bone one and three months after the sinus floor had been lifted was compared in each group both grossly and by histopathological examination. An appreciable amount of new bone had formed in the control group, with abundant areas near the inferior bony wall, and some near the raised Schneiderian membrane. Similarly, new bone had also formed in the mucosal shielding group, with abundant new bone near the inferior bony wall, but none near the raised Schneiderian membrane. However, there was considerably less new bone in the bony wall shielding group, with none in tissues adjacent to the inferior bony wall and little in tissues near the raised Schneiderian membrane. The Schneiderian membrane has osteogenic capability and participates in the formation of bone after the sinus floor has been lifted. However, its osteogenic role is weaker than that of the surrounding bony wall of the maxillary sinus.

Abstract
Rhodiola alsia, which has been used widely in traditional Chinese medicine for a considerable time, grows on moist habitats at high altitude near the snow line. Microsatellite loci were developed for R. alsia to investigate its population genetics. In total, 17 polymorphic microsatellites were developed based on ESTs from the Illumina HiSeq(TM) 2000 platform. The microsatellite loci were checked for variability using 80 individuals of R. alsia sampled from four locations on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The total number of alleles per locus ranged from 10 to 20, and the observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.000 to 1.000. The null allele frequency ranged from 0.000 to 0.324. These microsatellites are expected to be helpful in future studies of population genetics in R. alsia and related species.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the selection of plasma exchange (PE) parameters and the safety of children with severe ricinism. The PE parameters and heparin dosage in 7 children with severe ricinism were recorded, and changes in the patients' vital signs and coagulation function were monitored before and after PE. All patients successfully completed PE. The speed of blood flow was 50-80 mL/min, speed of exchange flow was 600-800 mL/h, and isolating rate of blood plasma was 12.5-19.05%. Transmembrane pressure was stable at approximately 100 mmHg, and venous pressure was stable at approximately 95 mmHg. The first dose of heparin was 0.39 ± 0.04 mg/kg, and the maintaining heparin dose was 0.40 ± 0.05 to 0.22 ± 0.03 mg·kg(-1)·h(-1). During the PE process, mean arterial pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and pulse oxygen saturation were steady. After PE, the activated partial thromboplastin time and thrombin time prolonged to 2-3 times greater than that before PE. However, no bleeding tendency was seen. For children with severe ricinism, the choice of PE to eliminate the toxin from blood, tissues, and organs was safe and effective.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the validity and the outcome of a new surgery method that utilizes lateral great toe flap to decoratively reconstruct the thumb pulp loss. METHODS From Jan. 2009 to Jan. 2014, 22 cases with unilateral thumb pulp defect were included, for whom, lateral great toe flap was deployed to reconstruct the thumb. Blood circulation was re-established by the anastomosis of the digital vessels of toes and fingers in 18 cases, the other 4 cases were conducted by a dorsal metatarsal artery and vein anastomosed to the deep branch of the radial artery and the dorsal metacarpal vein respectively; as for the nerve repair, toe-to-finger digital nerve anastomosis was performed. The donor sites were covered by full-thickness inguinal skin grafts. RESULTS All the 22 flaps survived without complications. With 6 to 12 months follow-up, the surviving fingers all presented aesthetically pleasant appearance with vivid loops and whorls. Normal functions like sweating were restored as well, and the two-point-discrimination ranged 3.0 to 6.0 mm (4.2 mm in average). The skin grafts to the donor sites healed uneventfully, the appearance and functions of the feet were unaffected. CONCLUSION Lateral toe flap should be the first-line choice for reconstructing thumb defect, as it conveniently restores both functions and outlook.

Abstract
Migration of postmitotic neurons in the developing cortex along radial glial fiber is essential for the formation of cortical layers. Several neurological diseases are caused by defects in neuronal migration, underlining the importance of this process for brain function. Multiple molecules are involved in this process. However, the precise mechanisms are largely unknown. In the present study, we examined the expression of Src in the developing cortex and investigated the role of Src in neuronal migration and its cellular and molecular mechanisms. Our results showed that Src was strongly expressed in the cerebral cortex during corticogenesis and mainly targeted to the leading processes of migrating neurons. Overexpression of wildtype Src (Src-WT) and its mutants, constitutively active Src (Src-CA) and dominant negative Src (Src-DN) in the mouse brain by in utero electroporation perturbed neuronal migration through affecting the adhesion properties and cytoskeletal dynamics of migrating neurons. Overexpression of Src-WT and Src-CA induced aggregation and branching of migrating neurons, whereas overexpression of Src-DN led to abnormal elongation of the leading processes of migrating neurons. Furthermore, we showed that Src activates the focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and cofilin by regulating their phosphorylation levels. We conclude that Src controls neuronal migration by regulating adhesion properties and F-actin dynamics of migrating neurons.

Abstract
AIM We aimed to investigate the feasibility, initial safety and efficacy of coronary intervention using FIREHAWK®, a novel abluminal groove-filled biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (SES), in patients with complex anatomical and clinical scenarios. METHODS A total of 57 patients (79 lesions) with complex anatomical and clinical scenarios implanted with the FIREHAWK® SES between March and November 2014 were studied. The primary endpoint was target lesion failure (TLF), a composite endpoint of cardiac death, target vessel-myocardial infarction (TV-MI), and ischemia-driven target lesion revascularization (iTLR). Optical coherence tomography and intravascular ultrasound was performed according to the discretion of operators. RESULTS 28.1% of patients presented acute myocardial infarction and all patients had at least one of the following anatomical and locational complexity: multi-vessel disease (64.9%), left main disease (24.6%), chronic total occlusion (17.5%), bifurcation (56.1%), and heavily calcified lesions (10.5%). One patients experienced coronary perforation during the procedure and resolved without any additional treatment. Device success was 100%, clinical success was 100%. There was 1 (1.8%) TLF occurred at follow-up of 150 ± 65 days. One patients had non-iTLR. Out of 2 non-Q-wave MI, 1 patient experienced TV-MI, but no death and stent thrombosis were reported. OCT and IVUS imaging showed a high rate of covered struts and low neointimal hyperplasia at follow-up. CONCLUSION The study showed the feasibility, initial safety and efficacy of coronary intervention using FIREHAWK® SES for treating patients with complex anatomical and clinical scenarios. The performance of the FIREHAWK® SES in complex patients justifies the conduct of a large, randomized trial.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prompt endoscopy should be considered as an initial strategy for uninvestigated dyspepsia in the background of high prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection and malignancy. However, with changes of disease patterns and dyspepsia definition, the prevalence of organic lesions at endoscopy in dyspepsia patients and the predictive values of alarm features and age for in malignancy remain unclear in Asian population. AIMS To evaluate the appropriateness of prompt endoscopy as an initial dyspepsia management strategy, we investigated the organic lesion detection rates in Asian dyspepsia patients as well as the diagnostic accuracies of alarm features and age thresholds for malignancy. METHODS Literature was retrieved from MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and CINAHL Plus. The prevalence rates of organic lesions and young cancer patients among dyspeptic patients and the sensitivities, specificities, likelihood ratios and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) of alarm features and ages were estimated. The summary receiver operating characteristic curve was constructed and the area under the curve (AUC) calculated. Subgroup, sensitivity and meta-regression analyses were performed. RESULTS Of the 18 included studies, 15 reported organic lesion detection rates, and six and five analysed the predictive values of alarm features and ages respectively. The overall malignancy detection rate was 1.3% (95% CI: 0.80-2.10). Among cancer patients, 17.8% (95% CI: 10.90-29.00) were younger than 45 years and 3.0% (95% CI: 2.50-3.50) were younger than 35 years. The diagnostic accuracy of alarm features for predicting malignancy was moderate (DOR: 4.87, 95% CI: 2.72-8.71; AUC = 0.74). The diagnostic accuracy at age >35 years (DOR: 9.41, 95% CI: 7.89-11.21; AUC = 0.82) was better than that at age >45 years (DOR: 3.50, 95% CI: 2.32-5.27; AUC = 0.70). CONCLUSIONS The malignancy detection rate and proportion of young cancer patients were high among Asian dyspepsia patients. Alarm features and age were of limited value for predicting malignancy, and prompt endoscopy should be considered as the initial strategy for dyspepsia in Asian populations. The optimal age threshold for endoscopy screening in Asia might be 35 years.

Abstract
A new ovarian cell line, CSO, was established from half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossus semilaevis. Primary culture of CSO cells was initiated from digestion of ovarian tissues pieces by trypsin solution and cultured at 24° C in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium-F12 medium (DMEM-F12, 1:1) (pH 7·0), supplemented with 20% foetal bovine serum, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). The cultured CSO cells, fibroblastic in morphology, proliferated to 100% confluency 3 days later and had been subcultured to passage 80. Chromosome analyses indicated that the CSO cells exhibited chromosomal aneuploidy with a modal chromosome number of 42 that displayed the normal diploid karyotype of C. semilaevis [2n = 42 t, fundamental number (NF ) = 42]. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction revealed that CSO cells could express ovarian somatic cell functional genes p450armo, foxl2 and sox9a but not ovary germ cell marker gene vasa and male-specific gene dmrt1. Transfection experiment demonstrated that CSO cells transfected with pEGFP-N3 plasmid could express green fluorescence protein (GFP) with higher transfection efficiency. The CSO cell line might serve as a valuable tool for studies on the mechanism of sex determination and oogenesis of ovary in flatfish.

Abstract
Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Lam.) is the fifth largest staple crop after rice, wheat, maize, and soybean in China. Sweet potato tubers were received from Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China, in June 2013 for research purposes. Upon inspection, the storage roots showed typical symptoms of being infected by root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp.; the incidence of infection was 95%. Meloidogyne spp. females and egg masses were dissected from the symptomatic roots. Each root contained about 32 females on average (n = 20). The perineal patterns of most female specimens (n = 10) were oval shaped, with moderately high to high dorsal arch and mostly lacking obvious lateral lines. The second-stage juvenile had large and triangular lateral lips and broad, bluntly rounded tail tip. These morphological characteristics are similar to those reported in the original description of Meloidogyne enterolobii Yang & Eisenback (2). The 28S rRNA D2D3 expansion domain was amplified with primers MF/MR (GGGGATGTTTGAGGCAGATTTG/AACCGCTTCGGACTTCCACCAG) (1). The sequence obtained for this population (n = 5) of Meloidogyne sp. (GenBank Accession No. KF646797) was 100% identical to the sequence of M. enterolobii (JN005864). For further confirmation, M. incognita specific primers Mi-F/Mi-R (GTGAGGATTCAGCTCCCCAG/ACGAGGAACA TACTTCTCCGTCC), M. javanica specific primers Fjav/Rjav (GGTGCGCGATTGAACTGAGC/CAGGCCCTTCAGTGGAACTATAC), and M. enterolobii specific primers Me-F/Me-R (AACTTTTGTGAAAGTGCCGCTG/ TCAGTTCAGGCAGGATCAACC) were used for amplification of the respective DNA sequences (1). The electrophoresis results showed a bright band (~200 bp) only in the lane with the M. enterolobii specific primers. Therefore, this population of Meloidogyne sp. on sweet potato was identified as M. enterolobii based on its morphological and molecular characteristics. M. enterolobii has been reported to infect more than 20 plant species from six plant families: Fabaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Solanaceae, Myrtaceae, Annonaceae, and Marantaceae (1). Abstract
The objective of the present study was to investigate the role of the steroid receptor coactivator-3 (SRC-3) in hematopoiesis of mouse bone marrow (BM) following total body irradiation (TBI). SRC-3−/− mice and wild-type (WT) mice were exposed to 4.5 Gy γ rays. Immunoblotting analysis revealed that the SRC-3 protein (p160) levels in normal BM-nucleated cells in WT were higher than in SRC-3−/− mice. Furthermore, peripheral blood cell counts, BM cellularity and colony-forming unit (CFU) assays were performed following irradiation. The results showed that peripheral blood cells were significantly lower in number and recovered less rapidly in irradiated SRC-3−/− mice as compared with control animals. BM-nucleated cell and CFU counts were significantly decreased in SRC-3−/− mice on the 7th and 14th day. Of note, the recovery of platelet (PLT) and megakaryocytic lineage were more depressed than the granulocytic and erythroid lineage in SRC-3−/− mice. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that the hematopoietic ability in SRC-3 knockout mice is severely impaired following a sublethal dose of irradiation.
