Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to investigate the role of soluble epoxide hydrolase for hyperglycemia induced-disruption of blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity after diffuse axonal injury (DAI). METHODS Rat DAI hyperglycemia model was established by a lateral head rotation device and intraperitoneal injection of 50% glucose. Glial fibrillary acidic protein, ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule-1, β-amyloid precursor protein, neurofilament light chain, and neurofilament heavy chain was detected by immunohistochemistry. Cell apoptosis was examined by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. The permeability of blood-brain barrier (BBB) was assessed by expression of tight junction proteins, leakage of Evans blue and brain water content. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) pathway was inhibited by 1-trifluoromethoxyphenyl-3-(1-propionylpiperidin-4-yl) urea (TPPU) and the nuclear transcription factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway was inhibited by pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate and activated by phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate in vivo and/or vitro, respectively. The inflammatory factors were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS Hyperglycemia could exacerbate axonal injury, aggravate cell apoptosis and glial activation, worsen the loss of BBB integrity, increase the release of inflammatory factors, and upregulate the expression of sEH and NF-κB. Inhibition of sEH could reverse all these damages and protect BBB integrity by upregulating the expression of tight junction proteins and downregulating the levels of inflammatory factors in vivo and vitro, while the agonist of NF-κB pathway abrogated the protective effects of TPPU on BBB integrity in vitro. CONCLUSIONS sEH was involved in mediating axonal injury induced by hyperglycemia after DAI by disrupting BBB integrity through inducing inflammation via the NF-κB pathway.

Abstract
Based on first-principles, we conducted an in-depth study of the GeC/InS van der Waals heterostructure formed by GeC and InS and discussed its structure, electronic properties and optical properties. First, we observe that this heterostructure has negative binding energy, indicating that the interlayer interactions are mainly affected by van der Waals forces. Through band structure and density of state analysis, we confirmed its type-II band alignment characteristics, which means that photogenerated carriers have the ability to automatically separate in space. Moreover, the average charge density difference and Bader charge analysis show that there is a built-in electric field in the heterostructure, and further proves that GeC/InS forms a Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism. Interestingly, the band edge position spans the water redox potential and can fully induce the redox reaction of water splitting, indicating that it is a potential photocatalyst. The high light absorption coefficient shown in the absorption spectrum also further confirms its excellent photocatalytic activity. The most striking thing is that the solar hydrogen production efficiency of GeC/InS heterostructure is as high as 44.39%. Our research demonstrates the theoretical basis for GeC/InS heterostructure as a photocatalyst.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The predictive utility of QTc values, calculated through various correction formulas for the incidence of postoperative major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) in patients experiencing acute myocardial infarction (AMI), warrants further exploration. This study endeavors to ascertain the predictive accuracy of disparate QTc values for MACCE occurrences in patients with perioperative AMI. METHODS A retrospective cohort of three hundred fourteen AMI patients, comprising 81 instances of in-hospital MACCE and 233 controls, was assembled, with comprehensive collection of baseline demographic and clinical data. QTc values were derived employing the correction formulas of Bazett, Fridericia, Hodges, Ashman, Framingham, Schlamowitz, Dmitrienko, Rautaharju, and Sarma. Analytical methods encompassed comparative statistics, Spearman correlation analysis, binary logistic regression models, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA). RESULTS QTc values were significantly elevated in the MACCE cohort compared to controls (P < 0.05). Spearman's correlation analysis between heart rate and QTc revealed a modest positive correlation for the Sarma formula (QTcBaz) (ρ = 0.46, P < 0.001). Within the multifactorial binary logistic regression, each QTc variant emerged as an independent risk factor for MACCE, with the Sarma formula-derived QTc (QTcSar) presenting the highest hazard ratio (OR = 1.025). ROC curve analysis identified QTcSar with a threshold of 446 ms as yielding the superior predictive capacity (AUC = 0.734), demonstrating a sensitivity of 60.5% and a specificity of 82.8%. DCA indicated positive net benefits for QTcSar at high-risk thresholds ranging from 0 to 0.66 and 0.71-0.96, with QTcBaz, prevalent in clinical settings, showing positive net benefits at thresholds extending to 0-0.99. CONCLUSION For perioperative AMI patients, QTcSar proves more advantageous in monitoring QTc intervals compared to alternative QT correction formulas, offering enhanced predictive prowess for subsequent MACCE incidents.

Abstract
The exploration of cytology mechanisms of nanosilver uptake, toxicity, and detoxification has become an important issue due to its widespread applications. Previous studies have shown differences in the toxic response of mammalian cells to nanosilver. However, the analysis results based on cell populations ignore the impact of cell uptake heterogeneity on the expression of associated stress proteins and cellular physiological activities. In this respect, this work investigated the interaction between silver uptake and metallothionein (MT) expression in individual cells. In addition, we have also preliminarily elucidated the sensitivity variation to AgNPs by using five cell lines, e.g., LX-2, HepG-2, SK-HEP-1, Huh-7, and MDA-MB-231, by adopting a two-dimensional (2D) high-throughput single-cell analysis platform coupling laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). We developed a 2D data analysis method for one-to-one unification of fluorescence-mass spectrometry signals corresponding to a specific single cell. It indicated that there is no obvious correlation between cellular silver uptake and cell size, and the low MT expression of cells is more sensitive to silver nanoparticles. For each cell line, significant heterogeneity in MT expression was observed. This provides important information for understanding the potential heterogeneous effects of nanosilver on mammalian biological systems. Overall, detoxified cells are more tolerant to nanosilver and normal cells are more tolerant than cancer cells.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION To compare the effect of bowel resection vs stripping on the clinical outcomes of patients with FIGO II-IV ovarian cancer. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed patients with FIGO II-IV ovarian cancer who suffered from bowel involvement and underwent cytoreductive surgery between January 2014 and March 2022. Patients' survival was compared by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS Four hundred and twelve patients were included. 48 patients underwent bowel resection (BR), and 364 patients underwent bowel tumor stripping (BTS). The BR group had longer operative duration, hospital stay, time to post-operative chemotherapy, and more intraoperative bleeding. The median PFS was 37 months (95% CI 12-62) in BTS compared to 25 months (95% CI 10-40) in BR among patients who achieved R0 resection (p = 0.590). Among those with R1 resection, the median PFS in BST was 23 months (95% CI 16-30) and that in BR was 15 months (95% CI 12-18, p = 0.136); moreover, a favorable median PFS was observed in BTS with residual bowel lesions (23 months, 95% CI 14-32), compared to BR (15 months, 95% CI 12-18, p = 0.144). Multivariate analysis indicated that FIGO stage, PCI, cytoreduction time and residual lesions were independent prognostic factors of PFS. CONCLUSION For patients with FIGO stage II-IV ovarian cancer with bowel implicated, bowel resection is necessary to achieve complete removal to improve the survival. If complete resection was judged unfeasible, cautious decision of bowel resection is required. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy might reduce the ratio of bowel resection for some with mesenteric involvement.

Abstract
Background Statistics show that approximately 70% of patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) experience relief from chest pain symptoms within 48 h post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, over 30% of these patients still suffer from angina post-PCI during their hospital stay and after discharge. Although the interrelation between cardiovascular diseases and psychological states, notably anxiety and stress, has been extensively studied and acknowledged, the specific influence of anxiety disorders on post-PCI clinical outcomes for STEMI patients, especially the recurrence of angina, remains undefined. Methods This study included a total of 324 STEMI patients who underwent PCI treatment due to chest pain in our hospital. Baseline and surgical data for all patients were collected. During their hospital stay, patients' emotional states were assessed using the Hamilton Anxiety Scale, while angina was evaluated using the Seattle Angina Questionnaire. All patients were followed up for 6 months post-discharge to gather clinical data and outcomes, analyzing whether anxiety disorders would affect the recurrence of angina post-PCI in STEMI patients. Results Out of the 324 patients, 82 experienced recurrent angina symptoms within 6 months post-PCI discharge. Compared to the non-recurrence group, the recurrence group showed statistically significant differences in anxiety levels. Other differing factors included the spouse's health status, cardiac Killip classification, severity of coronary lesions, and the state of the coronary microcirculation. After utilizing propensity score matching to eliminate inherent biases between the two groups at a 1:1 ratio, the COX regression analysis indicated that a patient's anxiety status is a risk factor for the occurrence of angina post-PCI in STEMI patients (HR = 2.094, 95% CI = 1.248-3.514, P = 0.005). Conclusion Anxiety is a significant factor for short-term recurrence of angina post-PCI in STEMI patients. This further confirms the crucial impact of mental health on cardiovascular wellness.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The most recommended method for treating transverse patella fractures is modified tension band wiring (MTBW). However, the optimal instrument for use with MTBW is still undetermined. Hence, we aimed to design a novel screw-cable integrated system (SCIS) and compare its biomechanical characteristics with Kirschner-wire, SCIS, and Cable-Pin systems in treating transverse patellar fracture. METHODS A finite-element (FE) model of transverse patella fracture was created. The fracture model was fixed with either K-wire, SCIS, or Cable-pin. Different tension force loading (400 N and 800 N), direction(0° and 45°), and screw or K-wire depth(5 mm and 10 mm) were set. The maximum displacement of the fragment and maximum gap opening were measured by using FE analysis. RESULTS Compared with the K-wire and Cable-pin system, SCIS increased the stability of the fractured patella by reducing fragment displacement and gap opening. Under 400 N loading in the direction 45°, SCIS with screw placing at 5-mm depth reduced the maximum fragment displacement (0.43 mm) by 49.62% and 26%, respectively, compared with the K-wire (0.22 mm) and Cable-pin (0. 22 mm) group. Meanwhile, the gap opening in SCIS (0.05 mm) was reduced by 83% and 59.8% (0.05 to 0.18) compared with the K-wire (0.30 mm) and Cable-pin (0.18 mm) group. CONCLUSION SCIS demonstrated improved biomechanical stability for treating transverse patellar fractures compared to MTBW with Kirschner wire and the Cable-Pin system. Finite element analysis showed SCIS substantially reduced fracture fragment displacement and gap opening under various loading conditions.

Abstract
The presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil poses a significant global environmental concern, particularly in coastal wetlands. Mangrove ecosystems exhibit enormous potential in environmental purification; however, the underlying mechanisms involved in the degradation of pollutants (e.g., PAHs) remain ambiguous. In the present investigation, a soil pot experiment was conducted with the addition of pyrene to evaluate the effect of radial oxygen loss (ROL) from roots on PAH degradation using three mangrove seedlings (Rhizophora stylosa, Aegiceras corniculatum, and Avicennia marina). The results showed that mangrove plantation can significantly promote the efficiency of pyrene removal. As for the three mangrove species studied, the greatest removal rate (90.75%) was observed in the soils associated with A. marina, followed by A. corniculatum (83.83%) and R. stylosa (77.15%). The higher PAH removal efficiency of A. marina can be partially attributed to its distinctive root anatomical structure, characterized by a thin exodermis and high porosity, which facilitates ROL from the roots. The results from qPCR further demonstrate that ROL is beneficial for promoting the abundance of PAH-ring hydroxylating dioxygenase gene, leading to a higher removal efficiency. Additionally, Rhizobiales, Defferrisomatales, and Ardenticatenales may also play important roles in the process of pyrene degradation. In summary, this study provides evidence for elucidating the mechanism of PAH removal from the perspective of ROL, thereby contributing valuable insights for species selection during mangrove restoration and remediation.

Abstract
Aims To examine the associations of sleep duration and changes in BMI with the onset of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Materials and methods 2,959 participants with type 2 diabetes were divided into three groups based on sleep duration: short (<7 h/day), intermediate (7-9 h/day), or long (>9 h/day). Changes in BMI during follow-up were trisected into loss, stable, or gain groups. DKD was defined as either the urinary albumin/creatinine ratio (UACR) ≥ 3.39 mg/mmol or the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) < 60 mL/min/1.73m², or both. Cox regression models were used to assess hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results During a mean follow-up of 2.3 years, DKD occurred in 613 participants (20.7%). A J-shaped curve was observed between sleep duration and DKD. Compared to intermediate sleep duration, long sleep duration was associated with higher risks of DKD (HR 1.47; 95% CI: 1.19-1.81). In the joint analyses, compared to participants with intermediate sleep duration and stable BMI, long sleep duration with BMI gain had the highest risks of DKD (HR 2.04; 95% CI: 1.48-2.83). In contrast, short or intermediate sleep duration accompanied by decrease in BMI was associated with a reduced risk of DKD, with HRs of 0.50 (95% CI: 0.31-0.82) and 0.61 (95% CI:0.47-0.80), respectively. Conclusions Long sleep duration is significantly associated with an increased risk of DKD, which is further amplified by obesity or BMI gain. These findings suggest that both proper sleep duration and weight control are essential to preventing DKD.

Abstract
Purpose: A novel intra- and extramedullary assembly fixation method was introduced, which achieved good clinical results in complex proximal humeral fractures; however, evidence of its comparability with traditional fixation is lacking. This biomechanical study aimed to compare it with traditional fixation devices in osteoporotic proximal humeral fractures. Methods: Three-part proximal humeral fractures with osteopenia were created on 12 pairs of fresh frozen humerus specimens and allocated to three groups: 1) lateral locking plate, 2) intramedullary nail, and 3) intra- and extramedullary assembly fixation. The specimens were loaded to simulate the force at 25° abduction. Thereafter, an axial stiffness test and a compound cyclic load to failure test were applied. Structural stiffness, number of cycles loaded to failure, and relative displacement values at predetermined measurement points were recorded using a testing machine and a synchronized 3D video tracking system. Results: In terms of initial stiffness and the number of cycles loaded to failure, the intra- and extramedullary assembly fixation group showed notable improvements compared to the other groups (p <0.017). The mean relative displacement value of measurement points in the intra- and extramedullary assembly fixation group was smaller than that in the other two groups. However, there was no significant difference until 10,000 cycles. The mean relative displacement of the intramedullary nail group (3.136 mm) exceeded 3 mm at 7,500 cycles of loading. Conclusion: In this test model, axial fixation can provide better mechanical stability than non-axial fixation. The intra- and extramedullary assembly fixation is better able to prevent the varus collapse for elderly proximal humeral fractures with posteromedial comminution.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Seizures are associated with a decrease in γ-aminobutyric type A acid receptors (GABAaRs) on the neuronal surface, which may be regulated by enhanced internalization of GABAaRs. When interactions between GABAaR subunit α-1 (GABRA1) and postsynaptic scaffold proteins are weakened, the α1-containing GABAaRs leave the postsynaptic membrane and are internalized. Previous evidence suggested that neuroplastin (NPTN) promotes the localization of GABRA1 on the postsynaptic membrane. However, the association between NPTN and GABRA1 in seizures and its effect on the internalization of α1-containing GABAaRs on the neuronal surface has not been studied before. METHODS An in vitro seizure model was constructed using magnesium-free extracellular fluid, and an in vivo model of status epilepticus (SE) was constructed using pentylenetetrazole (PTZ). Additionally, in vitro and in vivo NPTN-overexpression models were constructed. Electrophysiological recordings and internalization assays were performed to evaluate the action potentials and miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents of neurons, as well as the intracellular accumulation ratio of α1-containing GABAaRs in neurons. Western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression of GABRA1 and NPTN both in vitro and in vivo. Immunofluorescence co-localization analysis and co-immunoprecipitation were performed to evaluate the interaction between GABRA1 and NPTN. RESULTS The expression of GABRA1 was found to be decreased on the neuronal surface both in vivo and in vitro seizure models. In the in vitro seizure model, α1-containing GABAaRs showed increased internalization. NPTN expression was found to be positively correlated with GABRA1 expression on the neuronal surface both in vivo and in vitro seizure models. In addition, NPTN overexpression alleviated seizures and NPTN was shown to bind to GABRA1 to form protein complexes that can be disrupted during seizures in both in vivo and in vitro models. Furthermore, NPTN was found to inhibit the internalization of α1-containing GABAaRs in the in vitro seizure model. CONCLUSION Our findings provide evidence that NPTN may exert antiepileptic effects by binding to GABRA1 to inhibit the internalization of α1-containing GABAaRs.

Abstract
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is associated with increased susceptibility to perinatal morbidity and mortality. Evidence suggests that epigenetic changes play critical roles in the regulation of fetal growth. We sought to present a comprehensive analysis of the associations between placental DNA methylation and selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR), which is a severe complication of monochorionic twin pregnancies, characterized by one fetus experiencing restricted growth. Genome-wide methylation analysis was performed on 24 placental samples obtained from 12 monochorionic twins with sFGR (Cohort 1) using Illumina Infinium MethylationEPIC BeadChip. Integrative analysis of our EPIC data and two previous placental methylation studies of sFGR (a total of 30 placental samples from 15 sFGR twins) was used to identify convincing differential promoter methylation. Validation analysis was performed on the placentas from 15 sFGR twins (30 placental samples), 15 FGR singletons, and 14 control singletons (Cohort 2) using pyrosequencing, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC). A globe shift toward hypomethylation was identified in the placentas of growth-restricted fetuses compared with the placentas of normal fetuses in monochorionic twins, including 5625 hypomethylated CpGs and 452 hypermethylated CpGs, especially in the regions of CpG islands, gene-body and promoters. The analysis of pathways revealed dysregulation primarily in steroid hormone biosynthesis, metabolism, cell adhesion, signaling transduction, and immune response. Integrative analysis revealed a differentially methylated promoter region in the CYP11A1 gene, encoding a rate-limiting enzyme of steroidogenesis converting cholesterol to pregnenolone. The CYP11A1 gene was validated to have hypomethylation and higher mRNA expression in sFGR twins and FGR singletons. In conclusion, our findings suggested that the changes in placental DNA methylation pattern in sFGR may have functional implications for differentially methylated genes and regulatory regions. The study provides reliable evidence for identifying abnormally methylated CYP11A1 gene in the placenta of sFGR.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) For locally advanced laryngeal cancer (LAL), the local recurrence rate remains 19-40% after radical surgery with postoperative radiotherapy alone or with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with unfavorable prognostic factors. We evaluate local control and acute toxicity of intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) as a tumor bed boost for locally advanced laryngeal cancer in this prospective phase 2 trial. MATERIALS/METHODS This phase II clinical study in which a total of 63 LAL patients (T2N1-3/T3N0-3/T4N0-3) were selected and received IORT (T2: 8-10Gy, T3,4:12-15 Gy) as a tumor bed boost during radical surgery, then received external-beam radiation therapy (EBRT) at a total dose of 54-60Gy within 6 weeks after surgery, 5 times per week, 1.8-2Gy per time, 30 times in total. The median follow-up time was 20 months (7 -39 months). The primary outcome was the local control (LC) and 2 - year survival rate determined using the Kaplan-Meier method. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04278638. RESULTS A total of 63 patients consented to participate in the study; 59 males and 4 females, median age was 61 years (40-81 years), 14 patients had supraglottic LAL, 44 patients had glottic LAL and 5 patients had subglottic LAL. 10 patients showed high differentiation and 44 patients showed moderate differentiation and 9 patients showed low differentiation with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. 3 patients were in T2N1-2 stage, 40 patients in T3N0-2 stage, and 20 patients in T4N0-2 stage, 48 patients received total laryngectomy and 15 patients received hemilaryngectomy; 16 patients were lymph node-positive and 1 patient developed vascular tumor thrombus after surgery. After surgery combined with IORT and EBRT, the 1- and 2- year LC rates were 98.2% and 93.1 %, respectively, 2-year overall survival rate was 97.4%. Pharyngeal fistula was observed in 1 patient (1. 6 %) and wound infection in 3 patients (4.8%). Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) grade 3 pain and RTOG grade 4 dyspnea were noted in one patient (1.6%) and 2 patients (3.2 %), respectively. CONCLUSION In summary, our prospective phase II trial proved that the addition of intraoperative radiotherapy as a tumor bed boost to postoperative radiotherapy provided local therapeutic benefit to patients with locally advanced laryngeal cancer. Our data support the safety of this combined therapy. Additional investigation is warranted to determine the role of intraoperative radiotherapy in the local treatment of locally advanced laryngeal cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Proton-beam therapy (PT) is increasingly utilized over three dimensional-conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) photon irradiation for the treatment of various malignancies due to better toxicity reduction. We investigated the long-term outcomes and toxicity in esophageal cancer (EC) patients treated with PT as part of their neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiation followed by surgery (nCRT) or definitive concurrent chemoradiation (dCRT) treatment regimen. MATERIALS/METHODS All consecutively treated, American Joint Committee on Cancer 7th edition clinical stage I-IV EC patients from 2006 to 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Standard RT dose for most patients was 50.4 Gy/28 fractions. nCRT patients had surgery within 4 months post-RT. Kaplan-Meier method was used to determine overall survival (OS), locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRRFS) and distant metastatic-free survival (DMFS). Acute and chronic RT-related toxicities were graded with Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 4.0. RESULTS There were 510 EC PT patients: 204 (40%) had nCRT and 306 (60%) had dCRT. Most lesions were located in the lower esophagus, of adenocarcinoma histology and treated with passive scatter PT. Overall median follow-up was 72 months. Median, 3- and 5-year OS for all patients were 43 months, 54.1% and 44.9%, respectively. Median LRRFS and DMFS were not reached. Esophagitis was the most common grade ≥3 (G3+) toxicity (59 patients; 28.9%, including a G4 and a G5 toxicity), followed by nausea (29 patients; 14.2%) and esophageal stricture (26 patients, 12.7%). With nCRT, median, 3- and 5-year OS were 80 months, 64.7% and 56.1%, respectively, while the median LRRFS and DMFS were not reached again. Their most common G3+ toxicity was esophagitis in 14 patients (6.9%) followed by nausea (8 patients; 3.9%). An nCRT patient developed G4 RT pneumonitis. Pathological complete response (pCR) was observed in 58 patients (28.4%). Surgery-related pulmonary, cardiac and gastrointestinal complications were reported in 38 (18.6%), 40 (19.6%) and 43 (21.1%) patients, respectively. dCRT patients had a median follow-up of 65 months, and median, 3- and 5-year OS of 32 months, 46.7% and 37.0%, respectively. Although the median LRRFS was not reached, the median DMFS was 74 months. The most observed dCRT G3+ toxicity was esophagitis (45 patients, 22.1%: including both G4 and G5 patients) and then esophageal stricture (23 patients, 11.3%). A dCRT patient developed G4 fistula. CONCLUSION To our knowledge, this is the largest single-institutional study on EC long-term outcomes and toxicity using PT. Our cohort reveals good outcomes and mostly mild CRT-related toxicities. Trimodality nCRT with protons demonstrates excellent outcomes relative to the CROSS trial (49.4 months) with identical pCR rate (29% in CROSS) and similar toxicity profile. nCRT with protons should be studied rigorously in the current randomized phase III trial NRG GI006.

Abstract
AIM To use multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT)-derived tricuspid annulus (TA) measurements to identify predictors for tricuspid regurgitation (TR) reduction after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and to investigate the impact of TR change on prognosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective, single-centre study was conducted on consecutive patients who underwent TAVR with concomitant baseline mild or more severe TR from April 2012 to April 2022. TA parameters were measured using MDCT. RESULTS The study comprised 266 patients (mean age 74.2 ± 7.6 years, 147 men) and 45.1% had more than one grade of TR reduction at follow-up. Independent predictors of TR reduction at follow-up were distance between TA centroid and antero-septal commissure (odd ratio [OR] 0.776; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.672-0.896, p=0.001), baseline TR of moderate or worse (OR 4.599; 95% CI: 2.193-9.648, p<0.001), systolic pulmonary artery pressure (OR 1.018; 95% CI: 1.002-1.035, p=0.027), age (OR 0.955; 95% CI: 0.920-0.993, p=0.019), and pre-existing atrial fibrillation (OR 0.209; 95% CI: 0.101-0.433, p<0.001). Patients without TR reduction had higher rates of rehospitalisation (hazard ratio [HR] 0.642; 95% CI: 0.413-0.998, p=0.049). CONCLUSIONS The MDCT-derived TA parameter was predictive of TR reduction after TAVR. Persistent TR after TAVR was associated with higher rates of rehospitalisation.

Abstract
Digital image analysis based on the ham cross-sectional face was used to measure two lean muscle and three subcutaneous fat locations from 248 bone-in hams. Linear measurements of the two selected fat locations were used to predict dual-energy X-ray (DXA) fat or lean percentages with prediction accuracies (R2) of 0.7 in a stepwise regression eq. A classification system was built based on the prediction equations, and the linear measurements aimed to classify extremes at the threshold of the 10th percentile of DXA fat percentage (> 32.0%) and lean percentage (< 60.2%). When using either DXA fat or lean percentage, lean ham prediction accuracy dropped by 18%, but fat ham prediction accuracy increased by 60% when the threshold was changed from the 10th percentile to the 30th percentile. This classification approach has the potential to be converted into a manual tool with several useful applications for commercial pork processors.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to compare single- and double-layer digital template-assisted genioplasty for the correction of jaw deformity resulting from temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJA). Thirteen patients with jaw deformity resulting from TMJA who underwent lateral arthroplasty, costochondral graft, or total joint replacement combined with single- or double-layer digital template-assisted genioplasty were included. Computed tomography data were obtained for the preoperative design. Digital templates were designed and manufactured using three-dimensional printing to assist with the chin osteotomy and repositioning in single- or double-layer genioplasty. Of the 13 patients included, seven underwent single-layer genioplasty and six underwent double-layer genioplasty. The digital templates precisely reflected the osteotomy planes and repositioning of the chin segments intraoperatively. The radiographic evaluation showed that the patients who underwent double-layer genioplasty exhibited more chin advancement (11.95 ± 0.92 mm vs 7.50 ± 0.89 mm; P < 0.001) with a slightly larger mean surface error (1.19 ± 0.14 mm vs 0.75 ± 0.15 mm; P < 0.001) than those who underwent single-layer genioplasty. This indicates that double-layer genioplasty better promoted chin advancement and improved the facial shape, but was accompanied by more surgical error compared with the preoperative design. Furthermore, hardly any nerve damage was observed. Digital templates are useful for assisting in surgical procedures.

Abstract
Four previously undescribed diketopiperazine-type alkaloids including one oxepin-containing diketopiperazine-type alkaloid, oxepinamide L (1), three 4-quinazolinone alkaloids, puniceloids E-G (10-12), together with 12 known analogues, protuboxepin D (2), oxepinamides D-G, J-K and I (3-9), puniceloids B-D (13-15) and protubonine B (16), were isolated from the culture of the marine-derived fungus Aspergillus puniceus FAHY0085. The structures of the previously undescribed compounds were comprehensively elucidated by detailed interpretation of their NMR and HRESIMS data. Their absolute configurations were unambiguously determined by ROESY experiments, Marfey's method, calculated ECD experiments and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compounds (3-4, 6-8, 14-15) were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against HepG2, MCF-7, SW1116 and HeLa cells and compound 6 and 14 showed moderate cytotoxic activity against HeLa cells with IC50 49.61 ± 2.91 and 28.38 ± 1.57 μM, respectively. Compounds (1-8, 11-15) were screened for their transcriptional activation of liver X receptor α and compound 11 with known compounds 13-15 showed significant transcriptional activation of liver X receptor α with EC50 values in the range 2-50 μM.

Abstract
Access to social support from one's social network can serve as a protective factor against HIV infection; however, research exploring the availability of support in diverse populations that include high proportions of people at increased risk for HIV and the characteristics of network members associated with access to such support is limited. Multi-level dyadic analyses of social network data collected from women at risk for HIV and their network members reveal which individual and relationship characteristics of network members are associated with providing emotional, material, and/or health informational support. Results indicate that access to all three types of support was associated with a network member being a friend, a member of a participant's 'core' group, someone whose opinion matters to the respondent, and the respondent trusting them. These findings have implications for interventions designed to increase access to support among individuals at risk for HIV.

Abstract
The rapid growth in dataset sizes in modern deep learning has significantly increased data storage costs. Furthermore, the training and time costs for deep neural networks are generally proportional to the dataset size. Therefore, reducing the dataset size while maintaining model performance is an urgent research problem that needs to be addressed. Dataset condensation is a technique that aims to distill the original dataset into a much smaller synthetic dataset while maintaining downstream training performance on any agnostic neural network. Previous work has demonstrated that matching the training trajectory between the synthetic dataset and the original dataset is more effective than matching the instantaneous gradient, as it incorporates long-range information. Despite the effectiveness of trajectory matching, it suffers from complex gradient unrolling across iterations, which leads to significant memory and computation overhead. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel approach called Expert Subspace Projection (ESP), which leverages long-range information while avoiding gradient unrolling. Instead of strictly enforcing the synthetic dataset's training trajectory to mimic that of the real dataset, ESP only constrains it to lie within the subspace spanned by the training trajectory of the real dataset. The memory-saving advantage offered by our method facilitates unbiased training on the complete set of synthetic images and seamless integration with other dataset condensation techniques. Through extensive experiments, we have demonstrated the effectiveness of our approach. Our method outperforms the trajectory matching method on CIFAR10 by 16.7% in the setting of 1 Image/Class, surpassing the previous state-of-the-art method by 3.2%.

Abstract
Single cell phenotypic analysis is significant for clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of cancer. Accurate differentiation of cancer stem cell (CSC) subpopulations from a large number of cancer cells may become a cancer surveillance tool and provide important implications for the development of new CSC-targeted therapy strategies. Herein, we report a new approach based on dual-isotope inductively coupled plasma quadrupole mass spectrometry (ICP-QMS) for single cell phenotypic analysis. High-throughput single cell sampling was achieved by a spiral channel microfluidic chip for cell focusing and alignment, and single cell analysis was performed with time-resolved ICP-QMS by identifying the highly specific probes. This enables the monitoring of two surface protein markers (EpCAM and MUC1) of three cell types, i.e., HeLa, MCF-7, and HepG2, at single cell level. The analysis of breast cancer stem cells further confirmed its capability in distinguishing rare cell phenotypes. The present study provides promising possibilities for adopting ICP-QMS in biomedical investigations in terms of cell typing, stemness identification of tumor cells, and cell heterogeneity analysis.

Abstract
X-linked juvenile retinoschisis (XLRS) is an inherited disorder characterized by retinal schisis cavities, which can be observed in optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Monitoring disease progression necessitates the accurate segmentation and quantification of these cavities; yet, current manual methods are time consuming and result in subjective interpretations, highlighting the need for automated and precise solutions. We employed five state-of-the-art deep learning models-U-Net, U-Net++, Attention U-Net, Residual U-Net, and TransUNet-for the task, leveraging a dataset of 1500 OCT images from 30 patients. To enhance the models' performance, we utilized data augmentation strategies that were optimized via deep reinforcement learning. The deep learning models achieved a human-equivalent accuracy level in the segmentation of schisis cavities, with U-Net++ surpassing others by attaining an accuracy of 0.9927 and a Dice coefficient of 0.8568. By utilizing reinforcement-learning-based automatic data augmentation, deep learning segmentation models demonstrate a robust and precise method for the automated segmentation of schisis cavities in OCT images. These findings are a promising step toward enhancing clinical evaluation and treatment planning for XLRS.

Abstract
There has been a growing interest in counting crowds through computer vision and machine learning techniques in recent years. Despite that significant progress has been made, most existing methods heavily rely on fully-supervised learning and require a lot of labeled data. To alleviate the reliance, we focus on the semi-supervised learning paradigm. Usually, crowd counting is converted to a density estimation problem. The model is trained to predict a density map and obtains the total count by accumulating densities over all the locations. In particular, we find that there could be multiple density map representations for a given image in a way that they differ in probability distribution forms but reach a consensus on their total counts. Therefore, we propose multiple representation learning to train several models. Each model focuses on a specific density representation and utilizes the count consistency between models to supervise unlabeled data. To bypass the explicit density regression problem, which makes a strong parametric assumption on the underlying density distribution, we propose an implicit density representation method based on the kernel mean embedding. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods significantly.

Abstract
A 2D flow cytometry platform, known as CytoLM Plus, was developed for multi-parameter single-cell analysis. Single particles or cells after hydrodynamic alignment in a microfluidic unit undergo first-dimension fluorescence and side scattering dual-channel optical detection. They were thereafter immediately directed to ICP-MS by connecting the microfluidic unit with a high-efficiency nebulizer to facilitate the second-dimension ICP-MS detection. Flow cytometry measurements of fluorescent microspheres evaluated the performance of CytoLM Plus for optical detection. 6434 fluorescence bursts were observed with a valid signal proportion as high as 99.7%. After signal unification and gating analysis, 6067 sets of single-particle signals were obtained with 6.6 and 6.2% deviations for fluorescence burst area and height, respectively. This is fairly comparable with that achieved by a commercial flow cytometer. Afterward, CytoLM Plus was evaluated by 2D flow cytometry measurement of Ag+-incubated and AO-stained MCF-7 cells. A program for 2D single-cell signal unification was developed based on the algorithm of screening in lag time window. In the present case, a lag time window of -4.2 ± 0.09 s was determined by cross-correlation analysis and two-parameter optimization, which efficiently unified the concurrent single-cell signals from fluorescence, side scattering, and ICP-MS. A total of 495 sets of concurrent 2D signals were screened out, and the statistical analysis of these single-cell signals ensured 2D multi-parameter single-cell analysis and data elucidation.
