Abstract
BACKGROUND Localized scleroderma (LS) is characterized by skin fibrosis, hyperpigmentation and soft tissue atrophy. Fat grafting has been widely used to correct LS deformity. OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of fat grafting on the skin pigmentation of LS lesions. METHODS A prospective self-controlled study was conducted. Skin melanin and erythema indexes were measured by Mexameter® MX18 before and 3 months after surgery. Differences between lesions and contralateral normal sites were compared to evaluate changes induced by fat grafting. Localized Scleroderma Cutaneous Assessment Tool and PUMC Localized Scleroderma Facial Aesthetic Index were used for clinical evaluation. RESULTS Fourteen frontal linear LS patients participated in the study. Before surgery, the melanin index of the lesions was significantly higher than the contralateral sites (p = 0.023), while the erythema indexes were not significantly different (p = 0.426). Three months post-operation, the melanin index of the lesions significantly decreased (p = 0.008). There was no significant change in the erythema index of the lesions before and after fat grafting (p = 0.322). The LoSCAT and PUMC LSFAI scores demonstrated improved disease condition and facial esthetics after surgery. CONCLUSION Fat grafting could alleviate skin hyperpigmentation and skin damage of LS lesions while having little effect on skin erythema and disease activity. Abstract
Sensitive skin is described as an unpleasant sensory response to a stimulus that should not cause a sensation. Sensitive skin affects an increasing proportion of the population. Sixty-seven participants who tested positive to lactic acid sting test were recruited and randomized into two groups to observe the clinical efficacy and safety of a new birch juice spray for repairing sensitive skin. One group used test spray A, while the other group used spray B as a control. Both groups were sprayed six times daily for 28 days. Noninvasive testing instruments were used to measure stratum corneum hydration, sebum content, transepidermal water loss rates, skin blood perfusion and current perception threshold before and after using spray. Facial images were captured by VISIA-CR, and the image analysis program (Image-Pro Plus) was used to analyze these to obtain the redness value of the facial skin. Moreover, lactic acid sting test scores and participants' self-assessments were also performed at baseline, week 2 and week 4. Both sprays A and B significantly decreased the lactic acid sting test score, transepidermal water loss rates, skin blood perfusion, and redness, while increasing the stratum corneum hydration. Compared to spray B, spray A increased sensory nerve thresholds at 5 Hz and decreased the transepidermal water loss rates, skin blood perfusion, and lactic acid sting test score. Sprays containing birch juice improved cutaneous biophysical properties in participants with sensitive skin.

Abstract
Laser therapies have been well-established in ameliorating skin-aging consequences. This systematic review aims to determine the efficacy, safety profile, and satisfaction rates of laser combination therapies on skin rejuvenation resurfacing. A systematic search was performed in four major databases up to September 2022. Skin rejuvenation studies were eligible comprising at least one laser combination arm, inclusive of all laser types (ablative or non-ablatives), and one monotherapy arm selected from one of the combined modalities. Studies combining one laser modality with radiofrequency (RF) or intense pulse light (IPL) were also assessed. Trials that did not encompass a monotherapy control arm were evaluated independently as single-arm studies. Eighteen clinical trials recruiting 448 cases were included after screening. A total of 532 nm KTP + 1064 nm Nd:YAG and 2940 nm Er:YAG + Nd:YAG were the two most utilized laser combinations and exerted higher improvements and milder adverse events, compared to their monotherapy in most studies. Combining CO2 with rhodamine-IPL or gallium arsenide laser increased efficacy and satisfaction and brings about faster skin recovery time. Augmenting CO2 + RF did not increase improvement vs CO2 laser alone but prolonged skin erythema. Our meta-analysis revealed the pooled prevalence of quartile improvement rates as 0%, 28%, 40%, 27% in laser combination group, and 0%, 9%, 31%, 17% in laser monotherapy group, respectively. The satisfaction within each quartile category was 39%, 25%, 15%, 7% in laser combination and 20%, 25%, 16%, 17% in laser monotherapy, respectively, suggestive of the higher efficacy and satisfaction of laser combination group. The pain scores were lower in laser combination group than monotherapy (4.8 ± 1.18 vs 7.18 ± 0.7, converted on a scale of 0 to 10). Post-laser skin erythema lasted less longer in the combination group (12.8 vs 15.24 days). Laser combination therapies were discovered to be superior to their monotherapies in terms of clinical improvement rates, diminished adverse events such as pain and erythema and patients satisfaction rates. Due to paucity of high-quality reportings, additional trials are warranted to corroborate these results.

Abstract
A systematic study is currently demonstrated approach for approving the superior role of silver and palladium metallic particles in acting the role of mordant with acquiring the dyed cotton fabrics excellence in color fastness with additional functions of antimicrobial potentiality and UV-protection action. Whereas, samples were dyed with extract of red peanuts skin as natural textile colorant (RPN dye). The represented data revealed that, in absence of mordant, the samples treated with metal precursors prior to dyeing were exhibited with the excellent color strength, color fastness, antimicrobial action and UV-protection action. Color fastness (washing, rubbing and light fastness) was estimated to be in the range of very good-excellent. Sample pretreated with silver salt and dyed in the absence of mordant was graded with excellent UV-protection action (UPF 31.5, UVB T% 2.6% and UVB blocking percent 97.4%). Antimicrobial potency against E. coli, S. aureus and Candida albicans through inhibition zone and the reduction percent was approved to be in the range of excellence (93.01-99.51%) for the samples dyed in absence of mordant and pretreated with either silver or palladium precursors.

Abstract
Recent advances in atopic dermatitis (AD) present the condition as a heterogeneous disease of distinct endotypes across ethnic groups. AD in people with skin of colour may appear psoriasiform, lichenoid, scaly or papular, with a violaceous colour and there is a higher prevalence of post-inflammatory dyspigmentation compared with affected individuals of White ethnicity. These differences in clinical presentation may limit the use of AD assessment tools in people with skin of colour, leading to the potential for misdiagnosis and underestimation of severity, particularly in relation to assessment of erythema. Recent targeted therapies for AD have been studied in multiple ethnic groups; however, ethnicity-based subgroup analysis is often not performed. Further research is required to understand whether treatment responses or safety may differ among ethnic groups.

Abstract
Individuals with rosacea have different facial erythema distribution patterns; however, whether they are related to the skin type is unclear. This study enrolled 201 Chinese patients, including 195 females and six males, diagnosed with rosacea. Facial images were taken using the VISIA® Complexion Analysis System, and red-area images were further analyzed. The erythema distribution pattern of rosacea was divided into peace signs, wing shapes, and neither of the two patterns, according to the distribution location. Skin types were divided according to the Fitzpatrick skin type, and oily-dry skin subtypes were determined according to the Baumann skin-type scale. There were 130 and 44 cases of typical peace signs and typical wing shapes, respectively. The remaining 27 cases were of neither type. Among the 76 patients with peace-sign patterns, the majority (58.5%) had oily combination skin. Among the patients with a typical wing shape, 43 (97.7%) had dry combination skin. Among the 27 patients with no peace-sign or wing-shape pattern, 17 (63.0%) had dry combination skin (p < 0.05). The peace sign pattern was more common in individuals with darker skin tones (p < 0.05). The differences in the immune microenvironment, Demodex habitation, and altered lipid content may explain the presence of the peace-sign pattern in the oily combination skin population. Wing-type patterns are associated with the lateral parts of the cheeks and could be caused by abnormal vessel dilations of the anatomic branches of the zygomatic-facial and facial arteries, which indicates that the main pathogenesis for this type of rosacea may be neurovascular. Our study is the first to report that facial erythema distribution characteristics of rosacea are associated with skin types.

Abstract
Immediate-type hypersensitivity reactions (IHRs) to carboplatin (CA) are most commonly reported in ovarian cancer patients. A 54-year-old woman with stage IV melanoma suffering from metastasis in the entire right lower extremity was presented to our allergy outpatient clinic for diagnostic work-up due to an anaphylactic reaction with palmoplantar erythema, conjunctivitis along with facial erythema, and an incipient decrease in blood pressure during a chemotherapy regimen with dacarbazine and carboplatin upon re-administration. A subsequently carried out allergological work-up with skin testing (ST) revealed CA to be the culprit drug, whereas cisplatin (CI) was confirmed to be a safe alternative for the patient for following treatments. Here, we report a case of an IHR to carboplatin in a melanoma patient, with CI serving as a safe alternative diagnosed by skin testing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are active molecules in the human innate immune system, that participate in host defense and regulate the inflammation process. Previous reports have confirmed that antimicrobial peptides play a critical role in carcinogenesis. OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to evaluate the correlations between plasma concentrations of AMPs and spectrophotometric parameters of skin color in patients with basal cell carcinoma and compare the results with those of healthy controls. METHODS The plasma concentrations of cathelicidin and beta-defensin-2 in 100 patients (50 with skin cancer and 50 healthy control subjects) were measured, and skin color parameters were tested using a DermaSpectrophotometer. RESULTS In patients with basal cell carcinoma, the concentrations of cathelicidin and beta-defensin-2 were significantly higher than those in healthy controls. In healthy control patients, when erythema increases, the levels of cathelicidin and beta-defensin-2 also increase. The direction of the relationship is opposite in people with basal cell carcinoma-the concentration of antimicrobial peptides decreases and the level of erythema increases. CONCLUSION A significantly higher level of plasma concentrations of cathelicidin and HBD-2 are correspondent to the presence of basal cell carcinoma. Skin cancer modifies the relationship between intensity of skin erythema and the levels of cathelicidin and HBD-2. This can be related to inadequate immunological response in patients with skin cancers. New direction of research may be pioneered in searching for cytokine or mast cells disorders.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is an autoimmune subepidermal blistering disease. Dietary habits may modulate the pathogenesis of BP. OBJECTIVES We evaluated dietary habits in Japanese patients with BP and compared their results to those of age- and sex-matched healthy controls. We also examined the relationship between dietary habits versus IgG anti-BP180NC16A antibody or parameters of BP disease area index (BPDAI); cutaneous blisters/erosions, cutaneous urticaria/erythema, and mucosal blisters/erosions. MATERIALS & METHODS Dietary habits were assessed by the validated, Brief-type self-administered Diet History Questionnaire. Severity of disease was assessed with BPDAI. RESULTS Patients with BP showed a lower intake of retinol (vitamin A1) and beverages, and a higher intake of seasoning/spices, compared to controls. The bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that BP was associated with a low intake of retinol and beverages. There were no significant correlations between IgG anti-BP180NC16A antibody levels and intake of nutrients/foods. The BPDAI score for cutaneous blisters/erosions significantly positively correlated with intake of carbohydrate and negatively with intake of retinol, vitamin A, animal fat, cholesterol, phosphorus, and vitamin B2. The BPDAI score for cutaneous urticaria/erythema significantly negatively correlated with intake of vitamin A. BP patients with mucosal blisters/erosions had a higher intake of cholesterol, n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid, and eggs, and lower intake of seasoning/spices, compared to patients without BP. CONCLUSION The supplementation of vitamin A might have prophylactic and/or therapeutic effects on BP.

Abstract
Ashy dermatosis, or erythema dyschromicum perstans, is characterized by acquired grey patches distributed on the face, neck, trunk, and extremities with an unknown pathophysiology. Herein, we report a case of ashy dermatosis in a two-year-old child, possibly caused by an infection, with eventual improvement within two years, absent any treatment. To our knowledge, this is the second report of ashy dermatosis in a patient under the age of three years, and the first under the age of two years that was followed-up in the English-language literature from 2000 to 2021. Although the eruptions showed eventual improvement without any treatment in our case, all cases do not improve spontaneously. Further research is necessary to differentiate cases that eventually improve from resistant ones and determine treatment options for resistant cases.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Rosacea is a common, facial, chronic inflammatory skin disease. Due to its complex pathogenesis, adequate therapy of rosacea can be challenging. An innovative recent therapeutic tool is cold atmospheric plasma (CAP), which is already established in the treatment of chronic wounds and promising in different other skin diseases. METHODS In a split-face pilot study we investigated dielectric-barrier-discharged CAP in erythemato-telangiectatic (ETR) and/or papulopustular rosacea (PPR). CAP treatment was applied on lesional skin of a randomized side once daily (90 s/area) for 6 weeks. The other untreated side served as control. Co-primary endpoints were ≥1 improvement of the Investigator Global Assessment (IGA) score on the treated side compared to control and a decline of the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) after 6 weeks. Secondary endpoints included inflammatory lesion count (papules and pustules), skin redness intensity and erythema size. Adverse events (AEs) were recorded constantly. Additionally, participants were weekly assessed for symptoms, skin condition, trigger factors, skin care, treatment success, and local tolerance parameters. All p values were calculated using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. RESULTS Twelve subjects (ETR, n = 3; ETR and PPR, n = 9) completed the study. DLQI was significantly improved after 6 weeks (p = 0.007). On the CAP-treated side, lesions (p = 0.007) and erythema size (p = 0.041) were significantly reduced compared to the control. IGA (p = 0.2) and skin redness intensity (p = 0.5) did not differ significantly between control and CAP-treated side. No serious AEs occurred and treatment was well tolerated. CONCLUSION CAP is a promising new treatment of rosacea, especially for PPR.

Abstract
In 51 lesions from 15 patients with the inflammatory skin condition chronic graft-versus-host-disease, hyperspectral imaging accurately delineated active erythema and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The method was validated by dermatologist-approved confident delineations of only definitely affected and definitely unaffected areas in photographs. A prototype hyperspectral imaging system acquired a 2.5 × 3.5 cm2 area of skin at 120 wavelengths in the 450-850 nm range. Unsupervised extraction of unknown absorbers by endmember analysis achieved a comparable accuracy to that of supervised extraction of known absorbers (melanin, hemoglobin) by chromophore mapping: 0.78 (IQR: 0.39-0.85) vs. 0.83 (0.53-0.91) to delineate erythema and 0.74 (0.57-0.87) vs. 0.73 (0.52-0.84) to delineate hyperpigmentation. Both algorithms achieved higher specificity than sensitivity. Whereas a trained human confidently marked a median of 7% of image pixels, unsupervised and supervised algorithms delineated a median of 14% and 27% pixels. Hyperspectral imaging could overcome a fundamental practice gap of distinguishing active from inactive manifestations of inflammatory skin disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although early debridement and refining plastic surgery techniques have been shown to be effective in the treatment of facial scars after trauma, their postoperative outcomes have not been quantitatively evaluated by the relevant Scar Cosmesis Assessment and Rating (SCAR) Scale. This study was designed to provide a fair assessment of the appearance and local symptoms of scars after treatment by refining plastic surgery techniques and to share the operational skills of surgical repairs. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients who received refining plastic surgery techniques were followed up, and facial scars were taken as high-definition photos, which were presented to 6 professional observers, 6 lay observers, and patients themselves to score the facial scars, including: scar spread, erythema, dyspigmentation, track marks or suture marks, hypertrophy/atrophy, itch and pain according to the SCAR. RESULTS There were 56 patients who met the inclusion criteria and 25 agreed to participate in the study. No hypertrophic scar was found, and all patients were satisfied with the scar control effect. The scores showed that the treatment was achieved good results in scar spread (pro group: 0.85±0.55, lay group: 0.96±0.68, patients: 0.92±0.64), erythema (pro group: 0.34±0.26, lay group: 0.45±0.37, patients: 0.32±0.48), hypertrophy/atrophy (pro group: 0.21±0.27, lay group: 0.21±0.31, patients: 0.32±0.48), and there was no significant difference in the scores of the 3 observation groups ( P >0.05). However, it is difficult to eliminate dyspigmentation (pro group: 0.29±0.26, lay group: 0.30±0.30, patients: 0.40±0.50), track marks or suture marks (pro group: 0.45±0.33, lay group: 0.59±0.30, patients: 0.36±0.49). Two (8%) patients complained of itch and 1 (4%) patient complained of both itch and pain in the past 24 hours. CONCLUSIONS The appearance of facial scars is satisfactory, the local symptoms are mild, and the evaluation among different aesthetics is affirmative after receiving refining plastic surgery techniques, which is just in line with the purpose of seeking beauty for the patients, and meanwhile can provide a good foundation for the comprehensive treatment of late scars, so that the treatment plan should be promoted.

Abstract
The goal was to determine ways to optimize diagnostic and therapeutic measures for various types of melasma in the outpatient setting of the dermatovenerological ambulatory clinic. The study involved 112 women with a confirmed diagnosis of facial melasma whose disease lasted for at least 2 years. The severity of patient pigmentation was evaluated using the Melasma Area Severity Index and the Melasma Severity Scale. There was a significant increase in melanin levels across all melasma types, an increase in erythema in the dermal type, and an increase in sebum production in the epidermal type.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Visible light (VL) is known to induce pigmentation in dark-skinned individuals and immediate erythema in light-skinned individuals. However, the effects of accumulated low-dose VL exposure across skin types are not well established. METHODS Thirty-one healthy subjects with light (Fitzpatrick skin types [FST] I-II, n = 13) and dark (FST V-VI, n = 18) skin types were enrolled. Subjects' buttocks were exposed daily to VL, wavelength 400-700 nm, with a dose of 120 J/cm2 at 50 mW/cm2 , for four consecutive days. Microarray using Affymetrix GeneChip (49,395 genes) was performed followed by qRT-PCR on skin samples. RESULTS Repeated low-dose VL irradiation induced immediate pigment darkening and delayed tanning in dark-skinned individuals while no discernable pigmentation and erythema were observed in light-skinned individuals. Top ten upregulated genes by repeated VL exposure in microarray included melanogenic genes such as tyrosinase (TYR), tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TYRP1), dopachrome tautomerase (DCT), premelanosome protein (PMEL), melan-A (MLANA), and solute carrier family 24, member 5 (SLC24A5) and genes involved in inflammation/matrix remodeling/cell signaling including chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 18 (CCL18), BCL2-related protein A1 (BCL2A1), and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP). In qRT-PCR CCL18 was upregulated in light skin with a greater extent (mean fold change ± SD; 4.03 ± 3.28, p = .04) than in dark-skinned individuals (1.91 ± 1.32, p = .07) while TYR was not significantly upregulated in both skin types. CONCLUSION This study highlights the genes upregulated by cumulative VL exposure involved in pigmentation, immune response, oxidation/reduction, and matrix remodeling across skin types providing relevant information on daily solar exposure.

Abstract
This assessment provides a comprehensive update of the effects of changes in stratospheric ozone and other factors (aerosols, surface reflectivity, solar activity, and climate) on the intensity of ultraviolet (UV) radiation at the Earth's surface. The assessment is performed in the context of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and its Amendments and Adjustments. Changes in UV radiation at low- and mid-latitudes (0-60°) during the last 25 years have generally been small (e.g., typically less than 4% per decade, increasing at some sites and decreasing at others) and were mostly driven by changes in cloud cover and atmospheric aerosol content, caused partly by climate change and partly by measures to control tropospheric pollution. Without the Montreal Protocol, erythemal (sunburning) UV irradiance at northern and southern latitudes of less than 50° would have increased by 10-20% between 1996 and 2020. For southern latitudes exceeding 50°, the UV Index (UVI) would have surged by between 25% (year-round at the southern tip of South America) and more than 100% (South Pole in spring). Variability of erythemal irradiance in Antarctica was very large during the last four years. In spring 2019, erythemal UV radiation was at the minimum of the historical (1991-2018) range at the South Pole, while near record-high values were observed in spring 2020, which were up to 80% above the historical mean. In the Arctic, some of the highest erythemal irradiances on record were measured in March and April 2020. For example in March 2020, the monthly average UVI over a site in the Canadian Arctic was up to 70% higher than the historical (2005-2019) average, often exceeding this mean by three standard deviations. Under the presumption that all countries will adhere to the Montreal Protocol in the future and that atmospheric aerosol concentrations remain constant, erythemal irradiance at mid-latitudes (30-60°) is projected to decrease between 2015 and 2090 by 2-5% in the north and by 4-6% in the south due to recovering ozone. Changes projected for the tropics are ≤ 3%. However, in industrial regions that are currently affected by air pollution, UV radiation will increase as measures to reduce air pollutants will gradually restore UV radiation intensities to those of a cleaner atmosphere. Since most substances controlled by the Montreal Protocol are also greenhouse gases, the phase-out of these substances may have avoided warming by 0.5-1.0 °C over mid-latitude regions of the continents, and by more than 1.0 °C in the Arctic; however, the uncertainty of these calculations is large. We also assess the effects of changes in stratospheric ozone on climate, focusing on the poleward shift of climate zones, and discuss the role of the small Antarctic ozone hole in 2019 on the devastating "Black Summer" fires in Australia. Additional topics include the assessment of advances in measuring and modeling of UV radiation; methods for determining personal UV exposure; the effect of solar radiation management (stratospheric aerosol injections) on UV radiation relevant for plants; and possible revisions to the vitamin D action spectrum, which describes the wavelength dependence of the synthesis of previtamin D3 in human skin upon exposure to UV radiation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Superficial basal cell carcinoma (SBCC) is the rare subtype of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). BCC occurs in exposed areas such as the head and face, SCBB prone to form in trunk. Due to the manifestation of erythema and desquamation, it is prone to misdiagnosed as Bowen's disease in clinica. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 68-year-old female presented with coin-sized erythema located on the lower abdomen for 5 years. Histopathological examination was performed, and results informed the diagnosis of SBCC. Lesions were detected by dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and multiphoton microscopy (MPM). RESULTS Dermoscopy revealed yellow-red background with more dendritic and linear proliferating vessels and more blue-gray nonaggregated dots structures. RCM displayed streaming of stratum spinosum, tortuous dilated vessels, highlighted inflammatory cells, and medium refraction round and oval tumor cell masses. MPM showed epidermal cells in polar arrangement, increased cell spacing, disorganized stratum granulosum and elastic fibers are gathered in clusters. CONCLUSION We described a case of SBCC detected by dermoscopy, RCM and MPM. Noninvasive imaging features may provide a potentially tools in recognition and differentiation of SBCC.

Abstract
Managing atopic dermatitis (AD) in patients with skin of color presents unique challenges for the clinician. There is increasing evidence that AD has higher prevalence, persistence, and severity among skin of color populations. This is likely to be partly related to differences in living conditions and exposure to irritants and allergens, among other factors. Assessment of AD severity in patients with darker skin can be challenging, in particular the assessment of erythema, leading to the potential for underscoring AD severity. Variations in disease have also been described, with the potential for a greater risk of inflammation-induced nodularity and hyper- or hypopigmentation. Management challenges include variable adherence to treatment, potential disparities in access to health care, and differences in the metabolism of cyclosporine. Optimal management of AD in patients with skin of color requires a tailored approach. Here, we review approaches to diagnosing AD, evaluating extent and severity with subjective and objective measures, considering treatment options for patients with skin of color, and highlighting areas for improvement in AD care for skin of color populations.

Abstract
RATIONALE Eczematous eruption is an increasingly recognized form of drug-related eruption, typically reported in association with interleukin 17 (IL-17)A inhibitors. However, severe paradoxical eczematous eruption due to IL-17A inhibitors has been rarely reported. Herein, we reported a case of a man with severe psoriasis with erythematous scaly plaques on the scalp, trunk, and arms and legs after the administration of secukinumab was initiated. PATIENT CONCERNS We reported a case of a 20-year-old man with severe psoriasis with erythematous scaly plaques on the scalp, trunk, and arms and legs after the administration of secukinumab was initiated. A skin biopsy was performed. It revealed spongiotic dermatitis consistent with eczematous reaction. Direct and indirect immunofluorescence assays were negative. DIAGNOSES He was diagnosed with eczematous eruption. INTERVENTIONS Discontinuation of secukinumab and administration of cyclosporine and prednisone were considered. OUTCOMES Significant improvement was observed, with no adverse events. CONCLUSION Our case shows that eczematous eruption can paradoxically occur in patients on IL-17A inhibitors and this report is expected to increase awareness of the rising number of cutaneous eruptions related to biological agents.

Abstract
Autoimmune factor V deficiency (AiFVD) is a rare bleeding disorder caused by factor V inhibitors. In this report, we present the case of an 89-year-old man who developed bleeding tendency during surgery to create arteriovenous fistula for hemodialysis. The bleeding tendency developed with prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin and prothrombin time, following drug-induced eruption and eosinophilia. Significant reduction in coagulation factor activity and inhibitory pattern in cross-mixing tests suggested the presence of inhibitors to coagulation factors. Subsequently, we detected a factor V inhibitor and anti-factor V autoantibodies was confirmed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with purified human plasma factor V. Thus, the patient was 'definitely diagnosed' with AiFVD in accordance with the diagnostic criteria enacted by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. The bleeding tendency improved after initiating oral prednisolone 50 mg (1 mg/kg) followed by normalization of activated partial thromboplastin time and prothrombin time at the 34th day. After improving the coagulation system prolongation, the inhibitor and autoantibodies has been eradicated. Since it is suggested that drug-induced immune response can cause AiFVD, AiFVD should be considered in patients who undergo hemodialysis and develop failure of hemostasis and drug-induced eruption.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Skin is the largest organ in the body, representing an important interface to monitor health and disease. However, there is significant variation in skin properties for different ages, genders and body regions due to the differences in the structure and morphology of the skin tissues. This study aimed to evaluate the use of non-invasive tools to discriminate a range of mechanical and functional skin parameters from different skin sites. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cohort of 15 healthy volunteers was recruited following appropriate informed consent. Four well-established CE-marked non-invasive techniques were used to measure four anatomical regions: palm, forearm, sole and lower lumbar L3, using a repeated measures design. Skin parameters included trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), pH (acidity), erythema, stratum corneum hydration and stiffness and elasticity using Myoton Pro (skin and muscle probe). Differences between body locations for each parameter and the intra-rater reliability between days were evaluated by the same operator. RESULTS The results indicate that parameters differed significantly between skin sites. For the Myoton skin probe, the sole recorded the highest stiffness value of 1006 N/m (SD ± 179), while the lower lumbar recorded the least value of 484 N/m (SD ± 160). The muscle indenter Myoton probe revealed the palm's highest value of 754 N/m (± 108), and the lower lumbar recorded the least value of 208 N/m (SD ± 44). TEWL values were lowest on the forearm, averaging 11 g/m2/h, and highest on the palm, averaging 41 g/m2/h. Similar skin hydration levels were recorded in three of the four sites, with the main difference being observed in the sole averaging 13 arbitrary units. Erythema values were characterised by a high degree of inter-subject variation, and no significant differences between sites or sides were observed. The Myoton Pro Skin showed excellent reliability (intra-class correlation coefficients > 0.70) for all sites with exception of one site right lower back; the Myoton pro muscle probes showed good to poor reliability (0.90-017), the corneometer showed excellent reliability (>0.75) among all the sites tested, and the TEWL showed Good to poor reliability (0.74-0.4) among sites. CONCLUSION The study revealed that using non-invasive methods, the biophysical properties of skin can be mapped, and significant differences in the mechanical and functional properties of skin were observed. These parameters were reliably recorded between days, providing a basis for their use in assessing and monitoring changes in the skin during health and disease.
