Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play pivotal roles in modulating key biological processes in gastric cancer (GC). As a newly identified miRNA, the function and potential mechanism of miR-188-5p in GC has not been thoroughly elucidated. Here, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction detection showed abnormally higher expression of miR-188-5p in GC cells and tissues. Gain-of-function analysis in vitro showed that miR-188-5p promoted GC cell proliferation and migration, while loss-of-function studies showed the reverse. Targetscan has predicted that phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) was a potential target gene of miR-188-5p. miR-188-5p suppressed PTEN messenger RNA and protein expression and activated downstream AKT/mTOR signaling in GC cells, but luciferase reporter analysis showed that PTEN was not regulated by miR-188-5p via the 3' untranslated region. Furthermore, we observed that miR-188-5p overexpression promoted Sal-like protein 4 (SALL4) protein expression, cellular nuclear translocation, and transcription. Knockdown of SALL4 eliminated the effect of miR-188-5p in GC cells as well as suppression of PTEN. Taken together, our results demonstrate that miR-188-5p promotes GC cell proliferation and migration while suppressing tumor suppressor gene PTEN expression via transcriptional upregulation of oncogene SALL4. We conclude that miR-188-5p acts as an oncomiRNA in GC and may be a promising therapeutic target for GC.

Abstract
HIV-1 gp120, an important subunit of the envelope spikes that decorate the surface of virions, is known to play a vital role in neuronal injury during HIV-1-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND), although the pathological mechanism is not fully understood. Our previous studies have suggested that the V3 loop of HIV-1 gp120 (HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop) can induce neuronal apoptosis in the hippocampus, resulting in impairment in spatial learning and memory in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. In this study, we demonstrated that autophagy was significantly increased in rat primary hippocampal neurons in response to treatment of HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop. Importantly, HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop-induced autophagy played a dual role in the cell survival and death. An increase in autophagy for a short period inhibited apoptosis of neurons, while persistent autophagy over an extended period of time played a detrimental role by augmenting the apoptotic cascade in rat primary hippocampal neurons. In addition, we found that the HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop induced autophagy via AMPK/mTOR-dependent and calpain/mTOR-independent pathways, and the ERK/mTOR pathway plays a partial role. These findings provide evidence that HIV-1-induced autophagy plays a dual role in the survival and apoptosis of the primary rat hippocampal neurons and persistent autophagy may contribute to the pathogenesis of HAND, and autophagy modulation may represent a potential therapeutic strategy for reducing neuronal damage in HAND.

Abstract
This study determined the influence of 3-(4-methoxyl)-1-(2-(4-coumarin)prop)-2-en-1-one (MCPEO) on the differentiation of Gaoyou duck embryo osteoclasts cultured in vitro. Bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNCs) were harvested from 23-day-old Gaoyou duck embryos and induced by receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL) and macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) in the presence of MCPEO at different concentrations (i.e., 1, 5, 10, 20, and 40 μM). Cell viability measurement, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining, resorption activity assay, and co-staining with Tetramethylrhodamine (TRITC)-conjugated phalloidin and Hoechst 33,258 were conducted. Results indicated that MCPEO influenced the cell viability of the M-CSF + RANKL-induced BM-MNCs in a concentration-dependent manner, reduced the formation of positive multinucleated cells, and restrained the resorption capability of osteoclasts. Microfilament and nuclear staining indicated that MCPEO restricted the differentiation of BM-MNCs into large multinucleated osteoclasts. In short, MCPEO can inhibit the differentiation of BM-MNCs into mature osteoclasts in duck embryos. Therefore, MCPEO is a promising agent for the treatment of poultry osteoporosis.

Abstract
This study determined the effects of miR-338-3p on osteoclast (OC) differentiation and activation. The change levels of miR-338-3p in differentiated OCs were investigated by microRNA microarray assay and quantitative real-time PCR analysis. The effects of miR-338-3p on the differentiation and activation of OCs were determined by tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining resorption activity assay and Western blot. Target genes of miR-338-3p were identified by target gene prediction and dual-luciferase reporter gene detection assay as well as Western blot. Results showed that miR-338-3p was markedly downregulated in differentiated OCs. miR-338-3p could inhibit the formation and absorption activity of OCs. Western blot showed that miR-338-3p could influence the change levels of OC differentiation-related proteins. Dual-luciferase reporter gene detection assay and Western blot both showed that miR-338-3p directly targeted IKKβ gene. In conclusion, miR-338-3p may affect the formation and activity of OCs by targeting the IKKβ gene.

Abstract
1. This study determined the effects of (E)-3-(2-(4-(3-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)acryloyl)phenoxy)ethoxy)-5,7-dimethoxy-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (EDACO) on the differentiation of Gaoyou duck embryonic osteoclasts cultured in vitro. 2. Bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNC) were collected from 23-d-old Gaoyou duck embryos and induced by macrophage colony-stimulating factor and receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand in the presence of EDACO at different concentrations (i.e. 10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 µM). Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining and resorption ability determination were conducted. 3. Results suggested that EDACO suppressed the shaping of positive multinucleated cells and the number of TRAP-positive cells in the 20, 40, 80 and 160 μM EDACO groups was significantly decreased (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Besides, the absorption activity of differentiated duck embryonic osteoclasts was significantly inhibited (P < 0.05) in both 80 and 160 μM EDACO groups. 4. Overall, EDACO can inhibit the differentiation of BM-MNC into mature osteoclasts in duck embryos.1.

Abstract
Objective: To study the prevalence of rush poppers use among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Urumqi and to analyze the mediating effect of high-risk sexual behavior between the use of rush poppers and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Methods: From January to June 2018, 651 MSM were recruited through network and publicity. Data was collected by using online questionnaire and anal swab were collected from them for HPV genotyping. According to Baron and Kenny's criterion, multivariate logistic regression models was used to analyze the mediation effect of high-risks sexual behaviors (multiple sexual partners, anal intercourse condom use) between rush poppers use and HPV infection. Results: A total of 651 subjects were (32.0±8.0) years old, and 174 subjects (26.7%) had ever used rush poppers in the past 6 months, while 350 subjects (46.9%) had more than 2 sexual partners and 188 subjects (28.9%) did not use anal condom. After adjusting age and marital status, rush poppers use was associated with HPV infection (OR (95%CI) was 2.34 (1.63-3.36), P<0.05), and sexual partners in the past 6 months (OR (95%CI) was 2.72 (1.89-3.93), P<0.05).After adjustment for age, marital status, sexual partners in the past 6 months, and anal condom use, rush poppers use was still associated with HPV infection (OR (95%CI) was 2.21 (1.53-3.19), P<0.05).After adjustment and adjustment of age, marital status, rush poppers use and anal sex condom use, the number of sexual partners at nearly 6 months was still associated with HPV infection (OR (95%CI) was 1.46 (1.05-2.04), P<0.05). Conclusion: Sexual partners in the past 6 months have a mediation effect between rush poppers use and HPV infection in Urumqi. For the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, we should focus on rush poppers use.

Abstract
Viruses are the most abundant biological entities in aquatic ecosystems and harbor an enormous amount of genetic diversity. Whereas their influence on marine ecosystems is widely acknowledged, current information about their diversity remains limited. We conducted a viral metagenomic analysis of water samples collected during the austral summer of 2016 from the South Scotia Ridge (SSR), near the Antarctic Peninsula. The taxonomic composition and diversity of the viral communities were investigated, and a functional assessment of the sequences was performed. Phylotypic analysis showed that most viruses belonged to the order Caudovirales, especially the family Podoviridae (41.92⁻48.7%), which is similar to the situation in the Pacific Ocean. Functional analysis revealed a relatively high frequency of phage-associated and metabolism genes. Phylogenetic analyses of phage TerL and Capsid_NCLDV (nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses) marker genes indicated that many sequences associated with Caudovirales and NCLDV were novel and distinct from known phage genomes. High Phaeocystis globosa virus virophage (Pgvv) signatures were found and complete and partial Pgvv-like were obtained, which influence host⁻virus interactions. Our study expands existing knowledge of viral communities and their diversities from the Antarctic region and provides basic data for further exploring polar microbiomes.

Abstract
A novel approach is proposed to demonstrate the two-photon Breit-Wheeler process by using collimated and wide-bandwidth γ-ray pulses driven by 10-PW lasers. Theoretical calculations suggest that more than 3.2×10^{8} electron-positron pairs with a divergence angle of 7° can be created per shot, and the signal-to-noise ratio is higher than 10^{3}. The positron signal, which is roughly 100 times higher than the detection limit, can be measured by using the existing spectrometers. This approach, which could demonstrate the e^{-}e^{+} pair creation process from two photons, would provide important tests for two-photon physics and other fundamental physical theories.

Abstract
Dual camera is becoming increasingly prevalent among smartphone camera schemes these days. This paper demonstrates a system prototype by using the color and monochrome cameras on one smartphone simultaneously for visible light communication. To achieve this, we propose a novel dual-modulation scheme. The baseband signal is firstly modulated by color ratio modulation-color shift keying (CRM-CSK) to broadcast color ratio information that can be distinguished by the color camera. Next to it, gray level modulation (GLM) is utilized to generate CRM symbols with gray levels that can be distinguished by the monochrome camera. Our experiment shows a significant improvement in the downlink data rate of the optical camera communication (OCC) using a single light source.

Abstract
Two new species of the fish genus Garra (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) are described from the lower Yarlung Tsangpo River drainage in southeastern Tibet, China. Garra motuoensis, a member of the proboscis species group, is primarily distinguished from the members of this group by having a prominent, quadrate, and slightly bilobed proboscis; 6-20 small to middle-sized unicuspid tubercles on the anterior region of the proboscis, some middle-sized unicuspid tubercles on the transverse lobe of the snout, and several small unicuspid tubercles on the lateral surface of snout; the anus situated slightly closer to the anal-fin origin than to the pelvic-fin origin (distance from anus to anal fin 36-46% of pelvic-anal distance); 36-37 lateral-line scales; and 12 circumpeduncular scales. Garra yajiangensis, a member of the proboscis species group, is primarily distinguished from the members of this group by having a prominent, quadrate, and slightly bilobed proboscis, covered with 2-7 middle-sized unicuspid tubercles, including two large-sized tubercles on anterior margin of each lobe; some small unicuspid tubercles on the transverse lobe and the lateral surface of snout; the anus situated substantially closer to the anal-fin origin than to the pelvic-fin origin (distance from anus to anal fin 19-24% of pelvic-anal distance); 34-36 lateral-line scales; and 12 circumpeduncular scales. The validities of these two new species were also corroborated by molecular phylogenetic analysis based on Cyt b gene sequences.

Abstract
Widespread environmental impacts of frequent drought episodes in Brazil have resulted in several drought-related diagnostics studies. However, the potential of many "opportunistic sensors", such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), has not yet been considered in hydrological hazard monitoring in Brazil. In this study, the response of the Earth's crust to Brazil's 2012-2015 drought event in different structural provinces is analyzed by comparing GPS-observed vertical crustal deformations (VCDs) with the terrestrial water storage (TWS) derived from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE). The results indicate that there is no spatial correlation between annual amplitudes of the TWS and VCDs in different structural provinces apart from the purely elastic response of the crust to TWS dynamics, at almost all the 39 GPS stations that were analyzed. However, approximately 15% of the monitoring stations show that VCD leads TWS with a phase lag of 2-4 months. Errors associated with VCD and TWS are within the accepted range for space geodetic techniques (i.e., GPS and GRACE) and despite the need for further investigation, the phase lead seems to be associated with rainfall, which impacts the TWS through the hydrographs. Overall, the GPS-based drought index (DIVCD) reflects the water depletion in many regions of Brazil, which agrees with the GRACE-based DITWS in terms of the Spearman correlation coefficient (ranging from 0.4 to 0.9) in the Amazon, Tocantins, La Plata, and São Francisco river basins. This agreement confirms the drought persistence during the study period and that DIVCD can be used to monitor hydrological droughts. In regions in which DITWS sufficiently agrees with DIVCD (48% of the sites), near real-time drought monitoring is feasible. This could be useful in the optimization of models for the forward prediction of drought events in other regions worldwide, where GPS vertical displacements strongly correlate with hydrological GRACE signals.

Abstract
Exostoma tibetana, new species, is described from the lower Yarlung Tsangpo River drainage in southeastern Tibet, China. It is distinguished from congeners by having an adipose fin separate from the upper procurrent caudal-fin rays and incised at the posterior extremity of its base; the tip of the pelvic fin not reaching to the anus when adpressed; 10 branched pectoral-fin rays; and morphometric features associated with the body depth, adipose-fin base length, caudal-peduncle depth, snout length, and eye diameter. The validity of this new species was also supported by molecular phylogenetic analysis based on Cyt b gene sequences.

Abstract
A viral metagenomic analysis of five surface and two bottom water (878 meters below surface, mbs, and 3,357 mbs) samples from Prydz Bay, was conducted during February-March 2015. The results demonstrated that most of the DNA viruses were dsDNA viruses (79.73-94.06%, except at PBI1, 37.51%). Of these, Caudovirales (Siphoviridae, Myoviridae, and Podoviridae) phages were most abundant in surface seawater (67.67-71.99%), while nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses (NCLDVs) (Phycodnaviridae, Mimiviridae, and Pandoraviridae accounted for >30% of dsDNA viruses) were most abundant in the bottom water (3,357 mbs). Of the ssDNA viruses, Microviridae was the dominant family in PBI2, PBI3, PBOs, and PBI4b (57.09-87.55%), while Inoviridae (58.16%) was the dominant family in PBI1. Cellulophaga phages (phi38:1 and phi10:1) and Flavobacterium phage 11b, infecting the possible host strains affiliated with the family Flavobacteriaceae of the phylum Bacteroidetes, were abundant in surface water dsDNA viromes. The long contig (PBI2_1_C) from the viral metagenomes were most similar to the genome architectures of Cellulophaga phage phi10:1 and Flavobacterium phage 11b from the Arctic Ocean. Comparative analysis showed that the surface viral community of Prydz Bay could be clearly separated from other marine and freshwater environments. The deep sea viral community was similar to the deep sea viral metagenome at A Long-term Oligotrophic Habitat Assessment Station (ALOHA, at 22°45'N, 158°00'W). The multivariable analysis indicated that nutrients probably played an important role in shaping the local viral community structure. This study revealed the preliminary characteristics of the viral community in Prydz Bay, from both the surface and the deep sea. It provided evidence of the relationships between the virome and the environment in Prydz Bay and provided the first data from the deep sea viral community of the Southern Ocean.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the efficacy and safety of initial thrombolysis by recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) in compared with anticoagulant therapy in patients with acute intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism (PE). Methods: Sixty-six patients with acute intermediate-risk PE were randomly assigned to receive rt-PA or LMWH between June 2014 and June 2017 in our department. We obtained information regarding the difference in the right ventricle/left ventricle (RV/LV) ratio, pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP), clinical symptoms improvement, PE-related mortality, hemodynamic decompensation, recurrent PE, and major and minor bleeding. Results: In the rt-PA group, the mean PASP was reduced from 52.0±12.2 at baseline to 34.8±9.4 (p less than 0.001) and the mean RV/LV ratio was reduced from 1.26±0.22 at baseline to 0.96±0.18 (p less than 0.001) at 24 hours. In the LMWH group, the mean PASP was 53.4±12.8 at baseline and 48.5±11.9 at 24 hours (p=0.11), and the mean RV/LV ratio was 1.22±0.19 at baseline and 1.17±0.21 at 24 hours (p=0.31). In comparison with the LMWH group, there was a significant reduction in PASP and an improvement in the symptom severity in the rt-PA group. At 90 days, there was no difference in mortality, recurrent venous thromboembolism and major bleeding as a safety outcome, but increased minor bleeding and decreased hemodynamic decompensation occurred in the rt-PA group. Conclusions: In patients with acute intermediate-risk PE, low dose thrombolytic therapy is considered safe and effective, it can be recommended as an alternative option in clinical treatment.

Abstract
Effects of dexmedetomidine on postoperative cognitive function in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting were investigated. Eighty patients undergoing systemic anesthesia with extracorporeal coronary artery bypass grafting in The People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from January 2015 to August 2017 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group (n=40) and control group (n=40). The two groups were treated with dexmedetomidine and equal volume of normal saline, respectively. Moreover, safety indexes including EEG bispectral index (BIS) at 30 min before induction of anesthesia (T0), immediately after intubation (T1), when incision was made (T2), when chest was closed (T3), when operation was completed (T4) and at 6 h after operation (T5), intraoperative circulatory system-related complications, cortisol, epinephrine and norepinephrine levels at the end of surgery as well as anesthesia recovery time and postoperative mechanical ventilation time were recorded and compared. All the patients were followed up for 1 week. Mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA) were administered at 1, 3 and 7 days after operation, and the incidence of intraoperative awareness and postoperative cognitive dysfunction was recorded. BIS value in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05) at T1-T4 time points, and the BIS value in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05) at T5. Incidence rates of intraoperative arrhythmia, hypertension and hypotension in the observation group was significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). At the end of operation, levels of cortisol, epinephrine and norepinephrine in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Anesthesia recovery time and postoperative mechanical ventilation time in the observation group was significantly shorter than the time in the control group (P<0.05). MMSE and MoCA scores of the observation group were better than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of cognitive impairment and postoperative cognitive impairment in the observation group was significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Therefore, it is concluded that dexmedetomidine can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative cognitive impairment in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting, and it is of high safety for circulatory function.

Abstract
We used the double-agar layer method to isolate a novel Marinobacter marina bacteriophage, B23, from the surface water sample of the Bohai sea of China. There is some work to better understand the phage. The result of transmission electron microscopy revealed that B23 belongs to the family Siphoviridae with a head of 80 nm in diameter and a tail of 230 nm. Microbiological characterization evidenced that phage B23 is stable at the temperatures from - 25 to 60 °C, and showed vigorous vitality at pH between 4.0 and 12.0. One-step growth experiment showed that it had a longer latent period and higher lysis efficiency. Furthermore, the complete genome of B23 was sequenced and analyzed, which consists of a 35132 bp DNA with a G + C content of 59.8% and 50 putative open reading frames. The genome was divided into five parts, consisting of DNA replication and regulation, phage packaging, phage structure, host lysis and hypothetical protein.

Abstract
Chip-scale mode-locked dissipative Kerr solitons have been realized on various materials platforms, making it possible to achieve a miniature, highly coherent frequency comb source with high repetition rates. Aluminum nitride (AlN), an appealing nonlinear optical material having both Kerr (χ3), and Pockels (χ2) effects, has immerse potential for comb self-referencing without the need for external harmonic generators. However, cavity soliton states have not yet been achieved in AlN microresonators. Here, we demonstrate mode-locked Kerr cavity soliton generation in a crystalline AlN microring resonator. By utilizing ultrafast tuning of the pump frequency through single-sideband modulation, in combination with an optimized wavelength scan and pump power-ramp patterns, we can deterministically elongate a ∼400 ns short-lived soliton to a time span as long as we wish to hold it.

Abstract
Leveraging the quantum information-processing ability of superconducting circuits and long-distance distribution ability of optical photons promises the realization of complex and large-scale quantum networks. In such a scheme, a coherent and efficient quantum transducer between superconducting and photonic circuits is critical. However, this quantum transducer is still challenging because the use of intermediate excitations in current schemes introduces extra noise and limits bandwidth. We realize direct and coherent transduction between superconducting and photonic circuits based on the triple-resonance electro-optic principle, with integrated devices incorporating both superconducting and optical cavities on the same chip. Electromagnetically induced transparency is observed, indicating the coherent interaction between microwave and optical photons. Internal conversion efficiency of 25.9 ± 0.3% has been achieved, with 2.05 ± 0.04% total efficiency. Superconducting cavity electro-optics offers broad transduction bandwidth and high scalability and represents a significant step toward integrated hybrid quantum circuits and distributed quantum computation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Impaired lung function is regarded as a risk factor for stroke in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. However, the association between reduced lung function and incident stroke in a community-based population with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) remains unknown. METHODS A prospective study was performed within the Sleep Heart Health Study cohort. Full montage home sleep testing and spirometry data on 2082 and 2072 individuals with and without SDB, respectively, were analysed. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate the association between lung function and incident stroke. RESULTS Over 11.7 years, 183 cases of stroke were identified in participants without pre-existing cardiovascular diseases, including 71 and 112 with an apnoea-hypopnoea index <5 events/h and ≥5 events/h, respectively. In the entire population, lung function was inversely associated with incident stroke [hazard ratio (HR) 0.913 (95% confidence interval 0.839-0.994) for every 10% increase in percentage of predicted forced vital capacity]. When the population was divided according to the presence/absence of SDB, the association of lung function with incident stroke became stronger in individuals with SDB [HR 0.899 (0.822-0.984) for every 10% increase in percentage of predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 s; HR 0.881 (0.787-0.987) for every 10% increase in percentage of predicted forced vital capacity] but not in individuals without SDB. CONCLUSIONS Lung function may serve as a risk factor for incident stroke in a community-based population, especially in those with SDB. Spirometry may help improve the risk management for primary care in community-based populations.

Abstract
Phosphorus oxide modified graphene was prepared by one-step electrochemical anodic exfoliation method and utilized as electrode in a redox supercapacitor that contained potassium iodide in electrolytes. The whole preparation process was completed in a few minutes and the yield was about 37.2%. The prepared sample has better electrocatalysis activity for I−/I−3 redox reaction than graphite due to the good charge transfer performance between phosphorus oxide and iodide ions. The maximum discharge specific capacitance is 1634.2 F/g when the current density is 3.5 mA/cm2 and it can keep at 463 F/g after 500 charging–discharging cycles when the current density increased about three times.

Abstract
Prevalence of circulating immunocomplexes (ICs) strongly correlates with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in humans. Deposits of IgG-ICs are abundant in affected joints of patients, yet molecular mechanisms for the pathogenic roles of such ICs are not fully understood. In this study, we present evidence that IgG-ICs precipitated from RA sera sensitized human monocytes for a long-lasting inflammatory functional state, characterized by a strong TNF-α response to cellular proteins representing damage-associated molecular patterns and microbe-derived pathogen-associated molecular patterns. Importantly, plate-coated human IgG (a mimic of deposited IC without Ag restriction) exhibited a similarly robust ability of monocyte sensitization in vitro. The plate-coated human IgG-induced functional programming is accompanied by transcriptomic and epigenetic modification of various inflammatory cytokines and negative regulator genes. Moreover, macrophages freshly isolated from synovia of patients with RA, but not sera-negative arthropathy, displayed a signature gene expression profile highly similar to that of IC-sensitized human monocytes, indicative of historical priming events by IgG-ICs in vivo. Thus, the ability of IgG-ICs to drive sustainable functional sensitization/reprogramming of monocytes and macrophages toward inflammation may render them key players in the development of RA.

Abstract
Patients with liver metastases of colorectal cancer (CRCLM) have a poorer prognosis compared to colorectal cancer (CRC) patients in local stage. Evaluating the recurrence and overall survival of advanced patients is critical in improving disease treatment and clinical outcome. Here we investigated the expression pattern of USP33, a deubiquitinating enzyme, in both primary CRC tissues and liver metastases tissues. Univariate and multivariate analyses identified that low expression of USP33 in CRCLM tissues indicated high recurrence risk and poor overall prognosis. Overexpression of USP33 can significantly inhibit cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. On the other hand, USP33 knock-down promoted cell proliferation and invasion under SDF-1 stimulation; whereas dynasore (an internalization inhibitor) pretreatment in USP33 silencing cells showed a distinct antipromoting effect, revealing the participation of CXCR4 internalization in regulating tumor progress. Further results verified that USP33 can deubiquitinate β-arrestin2, subsequently block the internalization of SDF-1-stimulated CXCR4, and disrupt β-arrestin-dependent ERK activation. The existence and functions of β-arrestin-dependent signaling have been previously determined in several Gs-coupled receptors, such as β2-adrenergic receptor and angiotensin receptor subtype 1a; however, little is known about this in Gi-coupled receptors. Our study not only established USP33 as a novel prognosis biomarker in advanced CRCLM patients, but also highlighted the significance of β-arrestin-dependent ERK signaling in cancer development.

Abstract
Spinel-phase Zn2Ga2.98Ge0.75–xSnxO8:Cr0.023+ (ZGGSO:Cr3+) nanoparticles with various Sn4+ concentrations were prepared by a hydrothermal method in combination with a post-annealing in vacuum at high temperature. For these nanoparticles, the observed near infrared (NIR) persistent luminescence peaked at ∼697 nm and originates from the 2E, 4T2 (4F) → 4A2 transitions of Cr3+ and the afterglow time exceeds 800 min. For both the interior and surface Cr3+ ions in the ZGGSO host, it can be found that the increased energy transfer from Cr3+ to the deep trap (anti-site defects, ) after the substitution of Ge4+ by Sn4+ plays a key role in enhancing the persistent luminescence of the ZGGSO:Cr3+ nanoparticles. Strikingly, this energy transfer process can be controlled through the variations in the crystal field strength and the trap depths. Our results suggest that not only Sn4+ substitution can improve in vivo bioimaging but also the existence of deep traps in ZGGSO:Cr3+ nanoparticles is helpful for retracing in vivo bioimaging at any time. Distance between the 4T2 energy level and traps depth can be modulated and the NIR persistent luminescence can be enhanced.![]()

Abstract
Outnumbering all other biological entities on earth, bacteriophages play critical roles in structuring microbial communities. However, only a small number of phages have so far been reported. In this study, a novel Pseudoalteromonas phage, SL25, was isolated from the yellow sea, China. Transmission electron microscope observations showed that phage has an icosahedral head, 100±1nm in diameter, and a tail with a length of 150±1nm, and should be grouped into the Siphoviridae family. To better understand the genetic diversity of this phage, the complete genome was characterized. It consists 29,130-bp-length double-stranded DNA with a GC content of 41.04% and is predicted to have 61 open reading frames (ORFs) with an average length of 504 nucleotides. This study adds a new Siphoviridae phage to the marine bacteriophage dataset that could potentially infect Pseudoalteromonas. It also provides useful data for further molecular research on the interaction mechanism between bacteriophages and their hosts.

Abstract
Calreticulin (CRT), a multifunctional Ca2+-binding glycoprotein mainly located in the endoplasmic reticulum, is a tumor-associated antigen that has been shown to play protective roles in angiogenesis suppression and anti-tumor immunity. We previously reported that soluble CRT (sCRT) was functionally similar to heat shock proteins or damage-associated molecular patterns in terms of ability to activate myeloid cells and elicit strong inflammatory cytokine production. In the present study, B16 melanoma cell lines expressing recombinant CRT fragment 39-272 (sCRT/39-272) in secreted form (B16-CRT), or recombinant enhanced green fluorescence protein (rEGFP) (B16-EGFP), were constructed for investigation on the roles of sCRT in tumor development. When s.c. inoculated into C57BL/6 mice, the B16-CRT cells were significantly more aggressive (in terms of solid tumor growth rate) than B16-EGFP controls in a TLR4- and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC)-dependent manner. The B16-CRT-bearing mice showed increased Gr1+ MDSC infiltration in tumor tissues, accelerated proliferation of CD11b+Ly6G+Ly6Clow (G-MDSC) precursors in bone marrow, and higher percentages of G-MDSCs in spleen and blood, which was mirrored by decreased percentage of dendritic cells (DC) in periphery. In in vitro studies, recombinant sCRT/39-272 was able to promote migration and survival of tumor-derived MDSCs via interaction with TLR4, inhibit MDSC differentiation into DC, and also elicit expression of inflammatory proteins S100A8 and S100A9 which are essential for functional maturation and chemotactic migration of MDSCs. Our data provide solid evidence for CRT as a double-edged sword in tumor development.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM A considerable number of early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC) patients may develop cancer relapse or metastasis after curative surgery. Isolated tumor cells (ITC) and micrometastasis in lymph nodes (LNMM), which are undetectable by conventional pathological examination, may be one primary reason. Detection of ITC/LNMM is time-consuming and cost-ineffective; we aimed to find biomarkers in primary CRC tissues to help predicting ITC/LNMM status. METHODS We enrolled 137 node-negative patients with early-stage CRC in this study. Existence of ITC/LNMM was identified by immunohistological staining with cytokeratin 20 in resected lymph nodes. Expression of transducin (β)-like 1 X-linked receptor 1 (TBL1XR1) in primary CRC tissues was also investigated. Chi-squared test was performed to reveal the correlations between ITC/LNMM and clinicopathological characteristics. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine independent prognostic factors. Knockdown experiment together with proliferation and invasion assays were carried out to explore molecular mechanisms between TBL1XR1 and ITC/LNMM. RESULTS About 29.2% (40/137) patients were identified as ITC/LNMM positive, and most of them (32/40 cases, 80%) showed high TBL1XR1 expression in primary CRC tissues. Both ITC/LNMM and TBL1XR1 expression were independent prognostic factors for disease relapse or metastasis. In vitro experiments demonstrated that TBL1XR1 can regulate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C and epithelial-mesenchymal transition proteins, thus mediate the process of lymph node metastasis. CONCLUSIONS Identification of ITC/LNMM is significant in evaluating clinical outcome and guiding adjuvant chemotherapy for early-stage CRC patients. TBL1XR1 overexpression in CRC tissues can serve as an efficient biomarker to predict the status of ITC/LNMM.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to elucidate the effects of cholecystectomy on the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) by conducting a meta-analysis of 10 cohort studies. METHODS The eligible cohort studies were selected by searching the PubMed and EMBASE databases from their origination to June 30, 2016, as well as by consulting the reference lists of the selected articles. Two authors individually collected the data from the 10 papers. When the data showed marked heterogeneity, we used a random-effects model to estimate the overall pooled risk; otherwise, a fixed effects model was employed. RESULTS The final analysis included ten cohort studies. According to the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), nine papers were considered high quality. After the data of these 9 studies were combined, an increased risk of CRC was found among the individuals who had undergone cholecystectomy (risk ratio (RR) 1.22; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.08-1.38). In addition, we also found a promising increased risk for colon cancer (CC) (RR 1.30, 95% CI 1.07-1.58), but no relationship between cholecystectomy and rectum cancer (RC) (RR 1.09; 95% CI 0.89-1.34) was observed. Additionally, in the sub-group analysis of the tumor location in the colon, a positive risk for ascending colon cancer (ACC) was found (RR 1.18, 95% CI 1.11-1.26). After combining the ACC, transverse colon cancer (TCC), sigmoid colon cancer (SCC) and descending colon cancer (DCC) patients, we found a positive relationship with cholecystectomy (RR 1.18, 95% CI 1.11-1.26). Furthermore, after combining the ACC and DCC patients, we also found a positive relationship with cholecystectomy (RR 1.28; 95% CI 1.11-1.26) in the sub-group analysis. In an additional sub-group analysis of patients from Western countries, there was a positive relationship between cholecystectomy and the risk of CRC (RR 1.20; 95% CI 1.05-1.36). Furthermore, a positive relationship between female gender and CRC was also found (RR 1.17; 95% CI 1.03-1.34). However, there was no relationship between gender and CC or RC. Furthermore, no publication bias was observed, and the sensitivity analysis indicated stable results. CONCLUSIONS This meta-analysis of 10 cohort studies revealed that cholecystectomy is associated with an increased risk for CRC, CC and ACC, particularly in Western countries. No relationship between cholecystectomy and RC was observed. There was no relationship between gender and either CC or RC, but a positive relationship between female gender and CRC was observed.

Abstract
Tofacitinib (CP-690550), an oral Janus kinase inhibitor, has shown significant efficacy in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis through blocking the signaling pathways of pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, recent evidence suggests that long-term tofacitinib treatment is associated with increased risk of infection (e.g. tuberculosis) in patients. In the present study, we illustrate that tofacitinib administration significantly reduced the survival rate of mice given lethal or sub-lethal dose challenge with Candida albicans. This was related to the ability of tofacitinib to reverse TNFα- and IFNγ-enhanced candidacidal activity of murine polymorph nuclear cells (PMNs) and also to suppress chemokine CXCL5 expression and PMN infiltration in the infected tissues of mice. More importantly, tofacitinib significantly antagonized the ability of TNFα, IFNγ and GM-CSF to boost human PMNs in phagocytosis and direct killing of C. albicans in vitro. It also down-regulated reactive oxygen production and neutrophil extracellular trap formation by human PMNs stimulated with yeast-derived β-glucans in the presence of TNFα, IFNγ or GM-CSF. Our data emphasizes a significantly increased risk for opportunistic fungal infection associated long-term tofacitinib treatment in humans, likely through antagonizing the PMN-boosting effect of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Abstract
Recent studies have demonstrated that propofol causes neurodegeneration in developing brains. Evidence has shown that dexmedetomidine has neuroprotective effects. However, whether dexmedetomidine can reduce propofol-induced neuroapoptosis and by what mechanisms it acts remain unclear. We investigated whether dexmedetomidine can attenuate propofol-induced neuroapoptosis by disturbing the PI3K/Akt/GSK3β pathway during brain development. Seven-day-old rats were randomly exposed to 100mg/kg propofol and 100mg/kg propofol plus different doses of dexmedetomidine or 100mg/kg propofol and 75μg/kg dexmedetomidine plus PI3K inhibitor LY294002 or GSK3β inhibitor TDZD-8. TEM and TUNEL were used to detect neuronal structure changes and apoptosis. The expression of phospho-Akt, phospho-GSK3β, Akt and GSK3β were quantified using western blots and immunofluorescence. Pretreatment with different doses of dexmedetomidine protected against propofol-induced neuroapoptosis. Furthermore, propofol decreased the levels of phospho-Akt and phospho-GSK3β, whereas dexmedetomidine partially reversed this inhibition. In addition, treatment with LY294002 inhibited the neuroprotection of dexmedetomidine, whereas TDZD-8 enhanced neuroprotection. Our results indicate that dexmedetomidine prevents propofol-induced neuroapoptosis by increasing the levels of phospho-Akt and phospho-GSK3β.

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the changes of adipocytokines after surgery in OSAHS patients with insulin resistance.Method:Eighty-four OSAHS patients were enrolled in this study and divided into two group based on insulin resistance: IR group(n=52) and non-IR group(n=32). All patients received UPPP surgery. The levels of chemerin,visfatin and obestatin were measured before and one week after surgery.Result:Before surgery,the levels of chemerin,visfatin and HOMA-IR in IR group were higher than those in non-IR group,while level of obestatin was lower than those in non-IR group. One week after surgery,the level of obestatin in IR group was lower than those in non-IR group. The levels of chemerin,visfatin and HOMA-IR were decreased while obestatin increased after surgery. Correlation analysis showed that UPPP surgery was negatively related with △chemerin(r=-0.685,P<0.05)and △HOMA-IR(r=-0.622,P<0.05).△HOMA-IR was positively associated with △chemerin(r=0.634,P<0.05).Conclusion:The levels of chemerin,visfatin and obestatin are significantly improved after UPPP surgery. Level of chemerin seems to have a close relationship with IR.

Abstract
A novel marine Alteromonas gracilis siphovirus, phage PB15, was isolated from the surface water of the Yellow Sea in August 2015. It has a head diameter of 58 ± 5 nm head and a contractile tail approximately 105 ± 10 nm in length, and overall, the morphology suggests that PB15 belongs to the family Siphoviridae. PB15 phage is stable at over the temperature range 0-60 °C. The best MOI of these phage was 0.1, and infectivity decreased above 60 °C. The results suggest that phage is stable at pH value ranging between 3.0 and 11.0. Chloroform test shows that PB15 is not a lipid-containing phage. A one-step growth curve with a strain of A. gracilis gave a latent period of 16 min and rise period of 24 min and burst size of 60 PFU/cell. Genomic analysis of PB15 reveals a genome size of 37,333 bp with 45.52% G+C content, and 61 ORFs. ORF sequences accounted for 30.36% of the genome sequence. There is no obvious similarity between PB15 and other known phages by genomic comparison using the BLASTN tool in the NCBI database.

Abstract
Global calibration of multicamera systems is a difficult problem. The key is to find an appropriate calibration target. This paper proposes a flexible method to construct a global calibration target with circular targets. Any object that is to be measured by the system can be used as a calibration target with the help of a hand-held scanner. The calibration method does not need a special calibration target or multiple shots, which makes it flexible in applications. Circular targets pasted on the calibration target are used as features that are captured by cameras. The particle swarm optimization method is employed to correct the eccentricity error in the projection of circular targets. The eccentricity correction method does not need any prior knowledge except the cameras' intrinsic parameters. A synthetic data experiment was performed to validate the eccentricity correction method, and a physical experiment in a train wheelset inner-side distance measurement system was performed to validate the global calibration method. The measurement accuracy of the system was better than 0.1 mm, and the eccentricity correction method improved the three-dimensional reconstruction accuracy by about 0.1 mm.

Abstract
Arrhythmias are the common complications following cardiac surgery and contribute to hemodynamic instability, cognitive impairment, thromboembolic events, and congestive heart failure. Prevention of atrial fibrillation following cardiac surgery reduces morbidity and among the many available preventive approaches dexmedetomidine shows many positive effects on cardiovascular stability. Even though many studies indicated the beneficial effects of dexmedetomidine, the power of the analysis and conclusion of these studies is rather weak due to relatively smaller number of patients in these studies. In the present meta-analysis, we included a large number of patients, both children and adults, undergoing cardiac surgery, to address the efficacy of dexmedetomidine. Several databases were searched to identify clinical studies comparing the efficacy of dexmedetomidine in myocardial protection in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Cardiac function related parameters including heart rate, blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhthmias, and bradycardia were measured. In accordance with the selection criteria, a total of 18 studies published between 2003 and 2016, with a total of 19,225 patients were included in the present meta-analysis. Dosage of dexmedetomidine was in the range of 0.5-1 µg/kg body weight loading followed by continuous infusion at a rate of 0.2-0.7 µg/kg/h. Dexmedetomidine treatment was found to lower heart rate, systolic blood pressure, incidence of tachycardia and arrhythmias in both adult and pediatric patients, but elevated the risk of bradycardia. In conclusion, results of this meta-analysis indicate that dexmedetomidine is an efficacious cardioprotective drug in adults and children undergoing cardiac surgery.

Abstract
Acute hormone secretion triggered by G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activation underlies many fundamental physiological processes. GPCR signalling is negatively regulated by β-arrestins, adaptor molecules that also activate different intracellular signalling pathways. Here we reveal that TRV120027, a β-arrestin-1-biased agonist of the angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R), stimulates acute catecholamine secretion through coupling with the transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C 3 (TRPC3). We show that TRV120027 promotes the recruitment of TRPC3 or phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLCγ) to the AT1R-β-arrestin-1 signalling complex. Replacing the C-terminal region of β-arrestin-1 with its counterpart on β-arrestin-2 or using a specific TAT-P1 peptide to block the interaction between β-arrestin-1 and PLCγ abolishes TRV120027-induced TRPC3 activation. Taken together, our results show that the GPCR-arrestin complex initiates non-desensitized signalling at the plasma membrane by coupling with ion channels. This fast communication pathway might be a common mechanism of several cellular processes.
