Abstract
Carrot, cucumber, and broccoli seed flours were extracted with 50% acetone and evaluated for their phytochemical compositions along with their potential gut microbiota modulating, free radical scavenging, and anti-inflammatory capacities. Nine and ten compounds were detected in the broccoli and carrot seed flour extracts, with kaempferol-3- O-rutinoside and glucoraphanin as the primary component of each, respectively. All three seed flour extracts enhanced total number of gut bacteria and altered the abundance of specific bacterial phylum or genus in vitro. The broccoli seed flour extract had the greatest relative DPPH radical scavenging capacity, oxygen radical absorbing capacity, and hydroxyl radical (HO•) scavenging capacity values of 85, 634, and 270 μmol trolox equivalent (TE)/g, respectively. Carrot seed flour extract showed the greatest ABTS•+ scavenging capacity of 250 μmol TE/g. Also, three seed flour extracts suppressed LPS induced IL-1β and COX-2 mRNA expressions in J774A.1 cells. The results might be used to promote the value-added utilization of these vegetable seed flours in improving human health.

Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of grinding and chopping with/without microwaving on the health-beneficial components, and antioxidant, anti-inflammation and anti-proliferation capacities of commercial kale and broccoli samples. The availability of indole-3-carbinol (I3C) was evaluated using high-performance liquid chromatography. The total phenolic contents, the scavenging activities against DPPH, oxygen, hydroxyl and ABTS cation radicals, and cell-based antioxidant activities were determined for the antioxidant capacities. The results indicated that chopping released the least nutraceutical components and antioxidant compounds. Microwaving had no effect on the I3C release from kale, but resulted in an elevated (more than 2-fold) release of I3C from broccoli. In addition, the choice of a blender affected the availability of the anti-proliferative compounds from the vegetables, while it had no effect on the availability of their anti-inflammatory compounds. In summary, different food preparation methods could strongly impact the availability of bioactive factors in the selected vegetables. These findings suggest that choosing an appropriate food processing method for each vegetable might be critical to obtain desirable health-beneficial effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM The exact constellation of body composition characteristics among metabolically unhealthy obese (MUO) and nonobese (MUNO) children and adolescents remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the major body composition determinants of metabolically unhealthy phenotypes among Chinese children and adolescents. METHODS AND RESULTS We used data from a cross-sectional survey in 2015 that included 1983 children and adolescents aged 6-18 years. Subjects were classified into two phenotypes based on a combination of body mass index (BMI) and metabolic syndrome components. Body composition was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Among all boys and among adolescent boys, those with MUNO phenotypes displayed significantly higher indices of body composition except for fat mass (FM) percentage and trunk-to-legs FM ratio compared with the metabolically healthy nonobese phenotype (all P < 0.05). MUO individuals had higher arm FM, lean body mass (LBM), and trunk lean mass compared to metabolically healthy obese individuals (all P < 0.05). Visceral fat mass (VFM) and BMI were the major independent determinants of MUNO (VFM, 6- to 9-year-old boys, OR = 1.02, 95% CI = 1.00-1.03, P = 0.021; BMI, 6- to 9-year-old girls, OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.31-2.84, P = 0.001; and adolescent boys, OR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.23-1.44, P < 0.001). LBM was the major independent predictor of MUO among adolescent boys (OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.03-1.17, P = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS Among children and adolescents, the metabolically unhealthy phenotype was associated with excess of body composition, but with significant differences observed based on age and sex. VFM and LBM derived by DXA can predict the metabolically unhealthy phenotype effectively in specific sex and age groups.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Around 20 years ago, a 60- to 70-kDa protein was reported as a major allergen of mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) pollen. This study was to identify and characterize its molecular properties. METHODS Sera from 113 Chinese and 20 Dutch Artemisia-allergic/sensitized subjects (and pools thereof) were used to identify the 60- to 70-kDa allergen. Pollen extracts of seven Artemisia species were compared by immunoblotting. Transcriptomics and proteomics (mass spectrometry) of A. annua pollen were used to identify the putative 60- to 70-kDa Artemisia allergen. Both the natural purified and recombinant allergens were evaluated for IgE reactivity by ImmunoCAP. Fourteen Chinese Artemisia-allergic patients were tested intradermally with purified natural allergen. RESULTS Immunoblots revealed two major bands at 12 and 25 kDa, and a weak band at 70 kDa for all seven Artemisia species. Using a combined transcriptomic and proteomic approach, the high molecular mass allergen in A. annua pollen was shown to be a 62-kDa putative galactose oxidase, with a putative N-glycosylation site. More than 94% of Artemisia pollen-allergic patients had IgE response to this allergen. Although recognition of a nonglycosylated recombinant version was only confirmed in a minority (16%) and at much lower IgE levels, this discrepancy cannot be explained simply by reactivity to the carbohydrate moiety on the natural allergen. Intradermal testing with the natural allergen was positive in five of nine sensitized patients. CONCLUSIONS The previously reported 60- to 70-kDa allergen of Artemisia pollen is most likely a 62-kDa putative galactose oxidase here designated Art an 7.

Method:Retrospectively analyze VM and VN patients within 2 weeks of onset from August 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017 in neurology clinic of the Changzheng Hospital of Second Military Medical University, all patients were examined by caloric tests and VHIT, and the results of the two groups were compared and analyzed.Result:The 40 cases of VM patients, among them, 23 cases were abnormal in caloric test, 17 cases showed unilateral canal paresis, 6 cases showed bilateral weakness, the unilateral abnormality rate was higher than that of bilateral abnormality(P<0.01). 8 cases were abnormal in VHIT, 3 cases had unilateral vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) gain decline, 5 cases had bilateral VOR gain decline, unilateral and bilateral VHIT abnormal rate had no difference (P>0.05). The 45 cases of VN patients. Among them, 45 cases were abnormal in caloric test, 37cases showed unilateral canal paresis, 8 cases showed bilateral weakness, the unilateral abnormality rate was higher than that of bilateral abnormality(P<0.001). 35 cases were abnormal in VHIT, 21 cases had unilateral VOR gain decline, 14 cases had bilateral VOR gain decline, unilateral and bilateral VHIT abnormal rate had no difference (P> 0.05). By statistical analysis, the abnormal rate of caloric test of VN and VM were higher than that of VHIT, and the abnormal rate of caloric test and VHIT in VM patients were lower than that of VN. The slow phase velocity (SPV) and the VHIT gain of the three group of semicircular canals of strong and weak caloric response sides in the VM patients were higher than those of the corresponding canals in the VN patients. Conclusion:The low frequency damage of vestibule function of semicircular canals in VN and VM patients is more than that of high frequency. Compared with VM, the high and low frequency damage of the semicircular canals in VN patients are more common(P<0.05), and prone to high and low frequency simultaneous involvement (P<0.001). From the SPV of caloric test and VHIT gain values, the degree of damage to the high and low frequency semicircular canals of in VN patients was more serious than that in VM patients.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the application effect of nanofiber chitosan-collagen membrane (NCM) on guided bone regeneration (GBR). Methods: The mixture of collagen, chitosan, polyethylene oxide was used to make up the NCM by electrospinning, then the NCM was crosslinked by glutaraldehyde vapor. The physical property of the NCM was measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts were cultured on NCM to characterize the biocompatibility. The effectiveness of four groups [contrast group, Bio-gide membrane (BGM), compressed chitosan-collagen menbrane (CCM), NCM/CCM] on bone regeneration were evaluated in critical-sized defects (diameter=5 mm) in SD rats. Results: When the mixed solution consists of 4.0% collagen, 1.0% chitosan and 3.5% polyethylene oxide, the NCM could be validly fabricated by electrospinning. After cross-linking by glutaraldehyde vapor, the tensile strength and the stability of NCM in damp was enhanced. No cytotoxicity of the NCM was detected on MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts. In vivo study showed that the new bone regeneration ratio of NCM/CCM group was [(43.10±1.49)%], and this was similar to that of the group of BGM [(41.36±2.60)%] (P>0.05), but higher than that of the CCM group [(33.10±1.41)%] and the contrast group [(7.22±2.46)%] (P<0.05). Conclusions: The NCM can promote new bone regeneration effectively in GBR procedure.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the differences of anatomical and histological characteristics of lymph nodes between BALB/c nude mice and BALB/c mice. METHODS Firstly, twenty BALB/c nude mice and twenty BALB/c mice were dissected by using a surgical microscope. Secondly, the differences of T cells and B cells at the lymph node were compared by the expressions of CD3 and CD20 immunohistochemistry dyes. RESULTS There were, on average, 23 nodes per mouse contained within the large lymph node assembly in the BALB/c nude mouse. The anatomical features of the lymph node distribution in the nude mice were mainly found in the neck with relatively higher density. There were two lymph nodes both in the submandible lymph nodes group and in the superficial cervical lymph nodes group (the constituent ratios were 95% and 90%, respectively) in the BALB/c nude mice, but there were four lymph nodes (the constituent ratios were 95% and 90%, respectively) in the BALB/c mice. There were significant difference between the BALB/c nude mice and the BALB/c mice. Mostly there were two lymph nodes of deep cervical lymph nodes both in the BALB/c nude mice and the BALB/c mice (the constituent ratios were 95% and 100%, respectively). There were no significant difference between the BALB/c nude mice and the BALB/c mice. We confirmed that the number of CD3-positive T lymphocytes in lymph nodes of the nude mice decreased greatly as compared with the BALB/c mice. Expressions of CD3 in T cells were 95% and 100% in the BALB/c nude mice and in the BALB/c mice, respectively. There were significant differences between the BALB/c nude mice and the BALB/c mice. Expressions of CD20 in B cells were 95% and 100% in the BALB/c nude mice and in the BALB/c mice, respectively. There was no significant difference between the BALB/c nude mice and BALB/c mice. CONCLUSION The anatomical pictures of lymph node distribution in the nude mouse will be benefit to those who are interested. The anatomical features of the lymph node local higher density in neck of the nude mouse and lack of CD3-positive T lymphocytes would be useful for obtaining a better understanding of localized lymph node metastasis of oral transplant tumors.

Abstract
Hybrid improper ferroelectricity (HIF) denotes a new class of polar instability by the mixture of two octahedral-distortion modes and can feature the coexistence of abundant head-to-head and tail-to-tail polar domains, of which the domain walls tend to be charged due to the respective screening charges with an opposite sign. However, no such coexisting carriers are available in the materials. Using group-theoretical, microscopic, and spectroscopic analyses, we establish the existence of a hidden antipolar order parameter in model HIF (Ca,Sr)_{3}Ti_{2}O_{7} by the condensation of a weak, previously unnoticed antipolar lattice instability, turning the order-parameter spaces to be multicomponent with the distinct polar-antipolar intertwining and accompanied formation of Néel-type twinlike antipolar domain walls (few nanometers) between the head-to-head and tail-to-tail domains. The finite-width Néel walls and correlated domain topology inherently lift the polar divergences between the domains, casting an emergent exemplification of charged domain-wall screening by an antipolar ingredient.

Abstract
During the development of rapid screening methods to detect economic adulteration, spray-dried milk powders prepared by dissolving melamine in liquid milk exhibited an unexpected loss of characteristic melamine features in the near-infrared (NIR) and Raman spectra. To further characterize this "wet-blending" phenomenon, spray-dried melamine and lactose samples were produced as a simplified model and investigated by NIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), and direct analysis in real time Fourier transform mass spectrometry (DART-FTMS). In contrast to dry-blended samples, characteristic melamine bands in NIR and Raman spectra disappeared or shifted in wet-blended lactose-melamine samples. Subtle shifts in melamine 1H NMR spectra between wet- and dry-blended samples indicated differences in melamine hydrogen-bonding status. Qualitative DART-FTMS analysis of powders detected a greater relative abundance of lactose-melamine condensation product ions in the wet-blended samples, which supported a hypothesis that wet-blending facilitates early Maillard reactions in spray-dried samples. Collectively, these data indicated that the formation of weak, H bonded complexes and labile, early Maillard reaction products between lactose and melamine contribute to spectral differences observed between wet- and dry-blended milk powder samples. These results have implications for future evaluations of adulterated powders and emphasize the important role of sample preparation methods on adulterant detection.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relevant factors for diabetic retinopathy. Methods: The data of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients undergoing general examination and ophthalmology specialist consultation were collected from the inpatients of Department of Endocrinology in Beijing Airport Hospital between 2013 and 2016, and the relevant factors of diabetic retinopathy were retrospectively analyzed. Results: A total of 432 cases were analyzed, including 168 cases of non-diabetic retinopathy and 264 cases of diabetic retinopathy. In the non-diabetic retinopathy group, there were 88 cases of male and 80 cases of female, with an mean age of (57.0± 13.6) years old. Meanwhile, the diabetic group had 142 cases of male and 122 cases of female, with an mean age of (62.7±10.4) years old. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that age and glycosylated hemoglobin value were significantly higher in the diabetic retinopathy group than those of the non-diabetic retinopathy group, and the incidence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, carotid plaque and central retinal thickness was significantly higher than that of the non-diabetic retinopathy group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis displayed that carotid plaque (OR=9.922, 95%CI: 3.700-26.603, P<0.001) and thinning of central retinal thickness (OR=9.639, 95%CI: 3.604-25.781, P<0.001) were independently associated with diabetic retinopathy. Conclusions: Carotid plaque is an independent risk factor for diabetic retinopathy, and thinning of central retinal thickness may indicate the progression of retinopathy. Therefore, patients with these two signs need to be observed more closely in clinical practice.

Abstract
Piceatannol, a bioactive component in grape and blueberry, was examined for its potential in decreasing the inflammatory activities in adipocytes using a cocultured adipocyte and macrophage system, and suppressing tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-mediated inflammation and the related insulin resistance using a 3T3-L1 adipocyte model. Piceatannol at 10 μM significantly reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines of TNF-α and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) by 19 and 31% in the cocultured system, respectively. Pretreatment with piceatannol also inhibited TNF-α-induced expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and MCP-1 at both mRNA and protein levels in the 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Piceatannol also partially improved the malfunction of insulin-stimulated glucose uptake, which was reduced by TNF-α in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Furthermore, the inhibitions were mediated by significant blocking of IκBα phosphorylation and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) activation through suppressing nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 along with c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)-mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation. In addition, the Akt-dependent forkhead box O1 (FoxO1) signaling pathway was involved in the restoration of insulin-stimulated glucose uptake through suppressing the down-regulation of phosphorylation of Akt and FoxO1 expressions. These results suggested the potential of piceatannol in improving chronic inflammatory condition and insulin sensitivity in obese adipose tissues.

Analysis on application timing of IABP in emergency PCI treatment of patients with combined acute myocardial infarction and cardiac shock. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the application timing and effect of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) in the emergency PCI treatment of patients with combined acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and cardiogenic shock (CS). PATIENTS AND METHODS 84 cases of patients with combined AMI and CS under PCI in emergency treatment were randomly divided into the control group (n=42) and observational group (n=42). The control group underwent IABP again, after the invalidation of internal medicine drug treatment, while the observational group underwent IABP before the operation. We compared the effects of treatment. RESULTS After the intervention, the averages of arterial pressure and urine volume were increased in both groups than before (p <0.05). The average of heart rate was decreased, and the improvement in the observational group was more significant (p <0.05). However, the mortality rate in the observational group during the perioperative period was decreased than the control group as well as, the success rate of off-respirator was significant (p <0.05). The comparison of IABP complication occurrence rate as well as the survival rate after 1-year follow-up between both groups was not significantly different. Additionally, whereas the NYHA grouping in two groups was gradually improved, the difference was not statistically significant between both groups. However, in the observational group, the LVEF after one-month follow-up was significantly higher than in the control group (p <0.05), but not when comparing 1-year. VEDd at each time point in two groups were also similar. CONCLUSIONS The early IABP can improve hemodynamics of patients with combined AMI and CS under emergency PCI. It can reduce perioperative mortality rate, improve the success rate of off-respirator, but cannot increase IABP complication incidence rate while having little influence on the long-term survival rate and cardiac function indicator.

Abstract
Objective: We aimed to explore the spectrum of causes for patients in department of vertigo and dizziness oriented outpatient, in order to provide a reference for diagnosis and treatment of patients with vertigo or dizziness. Methods: Retrospective analysis were carried out with clinical data of patients in our department of vertigo and dizziness oriented outpatient. The target group under study was diagnosed based on the uniform diagnostic criteria, and re-visiting patients were excluded. Results: This clinical study was conducted on 5 348 cases, who visited our vertigo and dizziness oriented outpatient from December 2012 to July 2015. The ratio of male to female was 1∶1.48, the age range was between 16 and 93. The frequencies of different etiology were: benign paroxysmal positional vertigo 1 902(35.56%), Chronic subjective dizziness 1 329(24.85%), vestibular migraine 624(11.67%), Meniere's disease 378(7.07%), multi-sensory neuropathy 231(4.32%), vestibular paroxysmia 177(3.31%), benign recurrent vestibulopathy 171(3.20%), presyncope 66(1.23%), posterior circulation ischemia 57(1.07%), vestibular neuritis 54(1.01%), sudden deafness complicated vertigo 36(0.67%), other reasons 68(1.27%), unknown 255(4.77%). Conclusions: Our study indicates that the precedent three causes for vertigo or dizziness are benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, chronic subjective dizziness and vestibular migraine, followed by Meniere's disease、multi-sensory neuropathy, vestibular paroxysmia and benign recurrent vestibulopathy. Presyncope, posterior circulation ischemia, vestibular neuritis and sudden deafness complicated vertigo are relatively infrequent. There are still a certain proportion of patients undetermined.
