Abstract
The primary step in the mechanism by which migratory birds sense the Earth's magnetic field is thought to be the light-induced formation of long-lived magnetically sensitive radical pairs within cryptochrome flavoproteins located in the birds' retinas. Blue-light absorption by the non-covalently bound flavin chromophore triggers sequential electron transfers along a chain of four tryptophan residues toward the photoexcited flavin. The recently demonstrated ability to express cryptochrome 4a from the night-migratory European robin (Erithacus rubecula), ErCry4a, and to replace each of the tryptophan residues by a redox-inactive phenylalanine offers the prospect of exploring the roles of the four tryptophans. Here, we use ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy to compare wild type ErCry4a and four mutants having a phenylalanine at different positions in the chain. We find that each of the three tryptophan residues closest to the flavin adds a distinct relaxation component (time constants: 0.5, 30, and 150 ps) in the transient absorption data. The dynamics of the mutant containing a phenylalanine at the fourth position, furthest from the flavin, are very similar to those of wild type ErCry4a, except for a reduced concentration of long-lived radical pairs. The experimental results are evaluated and discussed in the framework of real-time quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical electron transfer simulations based on the density functional-based tight binding approach. This comparison between simulation results and experimental measurements provides a detailed microscopic insight into the sequential electron transfers along the tryptophan chain. Our results offer a route to the study of spin transport and dynamical spin correlations in flavoprotein radical pairs.

Abstract
Background Cardiac involvement constitutes the primary cause of mortality in patients with Danon disease (DD). This study aimed to explore the cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) features and progressions of DD cardiomyopathies in a family with long-term follow-up. Methods Seven patients (five females and two males), belonging to the same family and afflicted with DD, were enrolled in this study between 2017 and 2022. The cardiac structure, function, strain, tissue characteristics on CMR and their evolutions during follow-up were analyzed. Results Three young female patients (3/7, 42.86%) exhibited normal cardiac morphology. Four patients (4/7, 57.14%) displayed left ventricle hypertrophy (LVH), and mostly with septal thickening (3/4, 75%). A single male case (1/7, 14.3%) showed decreased LV ejection fraction (LVEF). Nonetheless, the global LV strain of the four adult patients decreased in different degree. The global strain of adolescent male patients was decreased compared to the age-appropriate female patients. Five patients (5/7, 71.43%) exhibited late gadolinium enhancement (LGE), with proportion ranging from 31.6% to 59.7% (median value 42.7%). The most common LGE location was the LV free wall (5/5, 100%), followed by right ventricle insertion points (4/5, 80%) and intraventricular septum (2/5, 40%). Segmental radial strain (rs = -0.586), circumferential strain (r = 0.589), and longitudinal strain (r = 0.514) were all moderately correlated with the LGE proportions of corresponding segments (P < 0.001). T2 hyperintense and perfusion defect foci were identified, overlapping with the LGE areas. During follow-up, both the young male patients exhibited notable deterioration of their cardiac symptoms and CMR. The LVEF and strain decreased, and the extent of LGE increased year by year. One patient underwent T1 mapping examination. The native T1 value was sensitively elevated even in regions without LGE. Conclusions Left ventricular hypertrophy, LGE with sparing or relatively less involved IVS, and LV dysfunction are prominent CMR features of Danon cardiomyopathy. Strain and T1 mapping may have advantages in detecting early-stage dysfunction and myocardial abnormalities in DD patients, respectively. Multi-parametric CMR can serve as an optimal instrument for detecting DD cardiomyopathies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR), a novel biomarker of stress hyperglycemia, was proved to be a reliable predictor of short-term adverse outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS). However, its impact on long-term prognosis remained controversial. METHODS A total of 7662 patients with ACS from a large nationwide prospective cohort between January 2015 and May 2019 were included. SHR was calculated by the following formula: SHR = admission glucose (mmol/L)/(1.59 × HbA1c [%]-2.59). The primary end point was a major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) during follow-up, a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, and unplanned revascularization. The second end point was the separate components of the primary end points. RESULTS During a median follow-up of 2.1 years, 779 MACE events occurred. After multivariable adjustment, ACS patients with the highest SHR tertile were significantly associated with increased long-term risks of MACE (hazard ratio [HR] 1.53, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.24-1.88), all-cause death (HR 1.80, 95% CI 1.29-2.51) and unplanned revascularization (HR 1.44, 95% CI 1.09-1.91). Although significant associations between the highest SHR tertile and risks of MACE and all-cause death were assessed in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients, the patterns of risk were different in these two groups. CONCLUSION Elevated SHR was independently associated with a higher risk of long-term outcomes irrespective of diabetic status, suggesting that SHR was a potential biomarker for risk stratification after ACS.

Abstract
Rutin is a biologically active polyphenol, but its poor water solubility and low bioavailability limit its application to the food industry. We investigated the effect of ultrasound treatment on the properties of rutin (R) and whey protein isolate (WPI) using spectral and physicochemical analysis. The results revealed that there was covalent interaction between whey protein isolate with rutin, and the binding degree of whey isolate protein with rutin increased with ultrasound treatment. Additionally, solubility and surface hydrophobicity of WPI-R complex improved with ultrasonic treatment, and a maximum solubility of 81.9 % at 300 W ultrasonic power. The ultrasound treatment caused the complex to develop a more ordered secondary structure, resulting in a three-dimensional network structure with small and uniform pore sizes. This research could provide a theoretical reference for studying protein-polyphenol interactions and their applications in food delivery systems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in auditory environments and hearing aid feature activation between younger listeners with normal hearing and older listeners with hearing loss in an urban and rural location. We hypothesized that (1) urban dwellers and younger listeners would encounter more diverse and demanding auditory environments than rural dwellers and older listeners, respectively; (2) the advanced hearing aid features (noise reduction and directional microphone) of urban dwellers and younger listeners would be activated more frequently than rural dwellers and older listeners, respectively. DESIGN The design of this study was cross-sectional with repeated measures. A total of 12 older adults with hearing loss (OHL-U) and 11 younger adults with normal hearing (YNH-U) were recruited from an urban area (Berkeley, California) and 13 older adults with hearing loss (OHL-R) and 10 YNH-U were recruited from a rural area (Iowa City, Iowa). Participants wore hearing aids that recorded data about their listening environments and completed ecological momentary assessments for 1 week. RESULTS The YNH-U group experienced higher sound pressure levels and hearing aid features were activated more frequently than in the OHL groups. The OHL-R group experienced significantly less diverse sound pressure levels than the YNH-U group. The YNH-R group had sound levels between the YNH-U group and the OHL groups but without significant differences from any other group. The YNH groups showed a greater likelihood of hearing aid feature activation than the OHL-R group. CONCLUSIONS Demographics affect auditory environments and the activation of hearing aid features. Younger urban dwellers have the most diverse or demanding auditory environments and hearing aid feature activation, and older, rural dwellers with hearing loss have the least diverse or demanding auditory environments and hearing aid feature activation. Future studies of real-world auditory environments and audiology intervention effectiveness should consider location in recruitment and interpretation of results.

Abstract
AIMS To put forward a scientific hypothesis about the progression of insulin-injection-induced lipohypertrophy (LH) according to the high-frequency ultrasonic imaging of insulin injection sites and the blood glucose control of patients. METHODS A total of 344 patients were screened for LH by means of high-frequency ultrasound scanning. The results of their ultrasound examination were described in detail and categorized into several subtypes. Seventeen patients with different subtypes of LH were followed up to predict the progression of LH. To further verify our hypothesis, the effects of different types of LH on glycemic control of patients were observed by comparing glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1C) and other glycemic-related indicators. RESULTS LH was found in 255 (74.1%) patients. According to the high-frequency ultrasonic imaging characteristics, LH can be categorized into three subtypes in general. Among all the LHs, the most common type observed was nodular hyperechoic LH (n = 167, 65.5%), followed by diffuse hyperechoic LH (n = 70, 27.5%), then hypoechoic LH (n = 18, 7.0%). At the follow-up after six months, all 10 patients with nodular hyperechoic LH had LH faded away. Of the five patients with diffuse hyperechoic LH, two had inapparent LH, and three had diffuse hyperechoic parts which had shrunk under ultrasound. No obvious changes were observed in the two cases of hypoechoic LH. Compared with the LH-free group, the mean HbA1C of the nodular hyperechoic LH group increased by 0.8% (9 mmol/mol) (95% CI:-1.394~-0.168, p = 0.005), that of the diffuse hyperechoic LH group increased by 2.0% (21 mmol/mol) (95% CI: -2.696~-1.20, p < 0.001), and that of the hypoechoic LH group increased by 1.5% (16 mmol/mol) (95% CI: -2.689~-0.275, p = 0.007). CONCLUSIONS It was hypothesized that the earlier stage of LH is nodular hyperechoic LH. If nodular LH is not found in time and the patient continues to inject insulin at the LH site and/or reuse needles, LH will develop into a diffuse type or, even worse, a hypoechoic one. Different subtypes of LH may represent differences in severity when blood glucose control is considered as an important resolution indicator. Further studies are needed to confirm our hypothesis on the progression and reversion of insulin-induced lipohypertrophy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The scrotum is considered as an uncommon site for tinea, hence there is a lack of knowledge about the clinical characteristics, pathogenic agents and the skin microbiome changes of tinea scrotum. OBJECTIVE We sought to analyze the clinical features, pathogenic agents and skin microbiome of tinea scrotum. METHODS A two-center prospective observational study was carried out in outpatient dermatology clinics in Zhejiang, China, from September 2017 to September 2019. The diagnosis of tinea scrotum was confirmed by direct microscopy. Clinical and mycological data were collected. The composition of microbial communities of patients with tinea scrotum was analyzed and compared with healthy controls. RESULTS A total of 113 patients with tinea scrotum were included. Tinea scrotum was either presented with isolated lesions (9/113, 8.0%) or accompanied by tinea of other sites (104/113, 92.0%). Tinea cruris was detected in 101 cases (89.38%). Fungal culture was positive in 63 cases, among which Trichophyton rubrum was grown in 60 cases (95.2%) and Nannizzia gypsea was cultured in 3 cases (4.8%). The skin microbiome in scrotum lesions from 18 patients showed increased abundance of Trichophyton compared with 18 healthy individuals, while Malassezia was decreased. No significant difference in bacterial diversity was found. CONCLUSIONS Tinea scrotum was often companied by superficial fungal infections of other skin sites, with tinea cruris being the most common condition. Instead of N. gypsea, T. rubrum was the most frequently identified pathogen for tinea scrotum. In general, tinea scrotum exhibited changes in the fungal communities of the skin with increased Trichophyton and decreased Malassezia abundance.

Abstract
AIMS To explore the effects of training programs for ophthalmic specialist nurses in Zhejiang Province of China. METHODS The training program included one month of theoretical training and three months of practical clinical training. The Two-Tutor system was used in training. The training contents were mainly set up around four modules: specialty knowledge and clinical skills, management, clinical teaching, and nursing research. We used theoretical examination, clinical practice assessment and trainee evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the training program. Before and after the training, the trainees' core competence was assessed by a homemade questionnaire. RESULTS In total, 48 trainees from 7 provinces (municipalities) in China participated in the training program. All trainees passed theoretical and clinical practice examinations and trainee evaluations. Their core competencies were significantly improved after training (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION This training program for ophthalmic specialist nurses is scientific and effective in improving nurses' ability to provide ophthalmic specialist nursing care.

Abstract
Incorrect discharge of dye wastewater will cause environment pollution and be very harmful to human health. Visible-light photocatalysis over large-scale synthesized semiconductor materials can become one of the feasible solutions for the practical application of purifying dye wastewater. As a new candidate, carbon dots (CDs) with unique fluorescence were fabricated on a tens of grams scale and then further applied to the kilogram-scale synthesis of a CDs/TiO2 composite by one-step heat treatment. Compared with single TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs), the CDs/TiO2 composite with a large specific surface area exhibits enhanced photo-degradation performance for methyl orange (MO). This phenomenon can be attributed to the loading of CDs in the TiO2 NPs, which is conducive to broadening the light absorption spectrum and improving absorption intensity, narrowing the band gap, charge carrier trapping, up-converting properties, and charge separation. The kilogram-scale synthesis of the CDs/TiO2 photocatalyst does not affect the morphology, structure, optical properties and photocatalytic performance of the composite, which opens up a new avenue to construct elaborate heterostructures for enhanced photocatalytic performance using visible light as the light source.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the point-of-care assays for tear matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) using domestic and InflammaDry kits, and to evaluate the feasibility of diagnosing dry eye with the domestic kit. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study. Thirty dry eye patients and 30 age-and sex-matched normal volunteers were continuously enrolled in this cross-sectional study from June 2022 to July 2022. Both domestic and InflammaDry kits were used to detect the tear MMP-9 levels. The positive rates were recorded for qualitative analysis, and the gray ratios of bands (the gray value of detection bands to that of control bands) were collected for quantitative analysis. The correlations of MMP-9 levels with age, ocular surface disease index, fluorescence tear break-up time, tear meniscus height, Schirmer's Ⅰ test score, corneal fluorescein staining score, and meibomian gland dropout were analyzed. The Mann-Whitney U test, paired Chi-square test, Kappa test, and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis. Results: There were 14 males and 16 females (30 eyes) in the control group, and their age was (39.37±19.55) years. In the dry eye group, 11 males and 19 females (30 eyes), aged (46.87±17.85) years, had moderate to severe dry eye. The positive rates of MMP-9 in tear fluid were significantly different between dry eye patients (InflammaDry: 86.67%; domestic kit: 70.00%) and controls (InflammaDry: 16.67%, P<0.001; domestic kit: 6.67%, P<0.001). Although the sensitivity of the domestic kit was lower than that of the InflammaDry kit (70.0% vs. 86.7%, P=0.001), the specificity was higher (93.3% vs. 83.3%, P=0.001). In dry eye patients, the positive coincidence rate was 80.7% (21/26), the negative coincidence rate was 100% (4/4), and the total coincidence rate was 83.3% (25/30), with no significant difference between the two kits (McNemar test: χ2=3.20, P>0.05), and the results of both kits were consistent (Kappa=0.53, P=0.001). The Spearman's correlation coefficient showed the gray ratios using both kits were positively correlated with the corneal fluorescein staining score (InflammaDry: ρ=0.48, P<0.05; domestic kit: ρ=0.52, P=0.003). Conclusion: The performances of the domestic and InflammaDry kits are consistent in the point-of-care assay for tear MMP-9, and the domestic kit has lower sensitivity but higher specificity.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficiency and safety of collar-button type keratoprosthesis (c-bKPro) implantation for corneal blindness in high-risk transplantation in China. Methods: It was a case series study. High-risk corneal blind patients who planned to undergo c-bKPro implantation were prospectively and continuously enrolled in the Eye Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, Ophthalmology Division of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Department of Ophthalmology in Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University, and Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from July 2019 to January 2020. The cure for blindness and surgical success were assessed based on visual acuity (VA)≥0.05. The complications and keratoprosthesis retention rate were recorded to determine the safety of the surgery. Results: Thirty-seven subjects (eyes) were included, of which 32 were male and 5 were female, aged 27 to 72 years old. The indications of c-bKPro implantation were corneal graft failure (21 eyes, 56.8%), chemical injury (8 eyes, 21.6%), thermal burn (5 eyes, 13.5%), unexplained corneal opacity (2 eyes, 5.4%), and corneal perforation (1 eye, 2.7%). Two patients withdrew from the clinical trial at 3 months postoperatively. Thirty-five patients were followed up for 6 months, and 31 were followed up for 12 months. The VA was ≥0.05 in 83.8% of eyes at 6 months and in 81.8% of eyes at 12 months. Among the 11 eyes diagnosed with concurrent glaucoma, 6 eyes achieved a VA of ≥0.05. At 12 months, the c-bKPro retention rate was 100%. The surgical complications included retroprosthetic membrane formation (5 eyes, 16.1%), persistent corneal epithelial defects (5 eyes, 16.1%), macular edema (4 eyes, 12.9%), new-onset glaucoma (4 eyes, 12.5%; including one eye withdrawn from the study at 3 months), sterile corneal melting (2 eyes, 6.5%), sterile vitritis (1 eye, 3.2%), and infectious keratitis (1 eye, 3.2%). Conclusions: C-bKPro implantation is an effective and safe option for treating corneal blindness in high-risk transplantation in China. Improved visual outcomes could be achieved in most cases, with a relatively low incidence of postoperative complications.

Abstract
What is already known about this topic? The largest and longest outbreak of diarrhea, which was complicated with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) caused by enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) O157:H7, occurred in Xuzhou City and its adjacent areas from 1999 to 2000 in China. What is added by this report? According to surveillance results from 2001 to 2021, there was a significant decrease in the isolation rate of O157:H7, and cattle and sheep remained the primary hosts. However, non-Shiga toxin-producing O157:H7 emerged as the dominant strain, with stx2+stx1- strains following closely behind. What are the implications for public health practice? National surveillance of O157:H7 effectively serves as an early warning system and guidance for assessing the intensity and trend of disease epidemics. It is crucial to raise awareness of the public health risks associated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.

Abstract
Introduction Using data collected from hearing aid users' own hearing aids could improve the customization of hearing aid processing for different users based on the auditory environments they encounter in daily life. Prior studies characterizing hearing aid users' auditory environments have focused on mean sound pressure levels and proportions of environments based on classifications. In this study, we extend these approaches by introducing entropy to quantify the diversity of auditory environments hearing aid users encounter. Materials and Methods Participants from 4 groups (younger listeners with normal hearing and older listeners with hearing loss from an urban or rural area) wore research hearing aids and completed ecological momentary assessments on a smartphone for 1 week. The smartphone was programmed to sample the processing state (input sound pressure level and environment classification) of the hearing aids every 10 min and deliver an ecological momentary assessment every 40 min. Entropy values for sound pressure levels, environment classifications, and ecological momentary assessment responses were calculated for each participant to quantify the diversity of auditory environments encountered over the course of the week. Entropy values between groups were compared. Group differences in entropy were compared to prior work reporting differences in mean sound pressure levels and proportions of environment classifications. Group differences in entropy measured objectively from the hearing aid data were also compared to differences in entropy measured from the self-report ecological momentary assessment data. Results Auditory environment diversity, quantified using entropy from the hearing aid data, was significantly higher for younger listeners than older listeners. Entropy measured using ecological momentary assessment was also significantly higher for younger listeners than older listeners. Discussion Using entropy, we show that younger listeners experience a greater diversity of auditory environments than older listeners. Alignment of group entropy differences with differences in sound pressure levels and hearing aid feature activation previously reported, along with alignment with ecological momentary response entropy, suggests that entropy is a valid and useful metric. We conclude that entropy is a simple and intuitive way to measure auditory environment diversity using hearing aid data.

Abstract
RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVE Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent and debilitating psychiatric disorder. However, its specific etiological mechanism remains unclear. Previous studies have shown that traumatic stress changes metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) expression in the hippocampus (HIP) and prefrontal cortex (PFC). More importantly, mGluR5 expression is often accompanied by alterations in brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Furthermore, BDNF/tropomyosin-associated kinase B (TrkB) signaling plays multiple roles, including roles in neuroplasticity and antidepressant activity, by regulating glutamate transporter-1 (GLT-1) expression. This study aims to explore the effects of inhibiting mGluR5 on PTSD-like behaviors and BDNF, TrkB, and GLT-1 expression in the HIP and PFC of inevitable foot shock (IFS)-treated rats. METHODS Seven-day IFS was used to establish a PTSD rat model, and 2-methyl-6-(phenylethynyl)-pyridine (MPEP) (10 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) was used to inhibit the activity of mGluR5 during IFS in rats. After modeling, behavioral changes and mGluR5, BDNF, TrkB, and GLT-1 expression in the PFC and HIP were examined. RESULTS First, the IFS procedure induced PTSD-like behavior. Second, IFS increased the expression of mGluR5 and decreased BDNF, TrkB, and GLT-1 expression in the PFC and HIP. Third, the mGluR5 antagonist blocked the above behavioral and molecular alterations. CONCLUSIONS mGluR5 was involved in IFS-induced PTSD-like behavior by changing BDNF, TrkB, and GLT-1 expression.

Abstract
Li||NMC811 battery, with lithium-metal (high specific capacity and low redox potential) as anode and LiNi0.8 Co0.1 Mn0.1 O2 (NMC811) as cathode, has been widely accepted to be a good candidate as one of the high-energy-density batteries. However, its cyclability needs improvement to fulfill the requirement for its future commercial use, especially under practical conditions. Electrolyte plays a key role in improving the cycling performance of Li||NMC811 batteries, where a high voltage/electrochemical window and good stability with the electrodes of the electrolyte are required. Herein, a localized high-concentration electrolyte with an additive of lithium difluoro(oxalate)borate (LiDFOB) is reported that improves the cycling performance of Li||NMC811 cells under crucial conditions with Li foil thickness of 50 µm, cathode areal loading of 4 mAh cm-2 , the areal capacity ratio between the negative and positive electrodes (N/P ratio) of 2.6 and the electrolyte/cell capacity ratio (E/C ratio) of 3.0 g (Ah)-1 . These cells can maintain 80% of the capacity after 195 cycles.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Compared with systemic administration methods like injection and oral administration, traditional transdermal drug delivery has the advantages of rapid onset of activity and low side effects. However, hydrophilic drugs and bioactive substances are often unsuitable for traditional transdermal drug delivery. METHODS The application of microneedles made from gelatin methylacryloyl (GelMA) has greatly expanded thepossibilities for skin transdermal drug delivery. We have reviewed the latest literatures about the dermatological application of GelMA hydrogel microneedles in recent years using Google Scholar, PubMed and Springer. RESULTS GelMA hydrogel microneedles exhibit huge potency in the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases, and this technology also brings broad application prospects for subcutaneous micro-invasive transdermal targeted drug delivery, which mainly used in skin tissue fluid collection, local substance delivery and wound healing. CONCLUSION With in-depth research on GelMA hydrogel, this technology will bring more breakthroughs and developments in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases.

Abstract
To extend the axial depth of nanoscale 3D-localization microscopy, we propose here a splicing-type vortex singularities (SVS) phase mask, which has been meticulously optimized with a Fresnel approximation imaging inverse operation. The optimized SVS DH-PSF has proven to have high transfer function efficiency with adjustable performance in its axial range. The axial position of the particle was computed by using both the main lobes' spacing and the rotation angle, an improvement of the localization precision of the particle. Concretely, the proposed optimized SVS DH-PSF, with a smaller spatial extent, can effectively reduce the overlap of nanoparticle images and realize the 3D localization of multiple nanoparticles with small spacing, with respect to PSFs for large axial 3D localization. Finally, we successfully conducted extensive experiments on 3D localization for tracking dense nanoparticles at 8µm depth with a numerical aperture of 1.4, demonstrating its great potential.

Abstract
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a chronic disorder characterized by hyperproliferation of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). JMJD1C, a member of the Jumonji domain containing C (JMJC) histone demethylase family, contributes to cardiovascular dysfunction. However, the role of JMJD1C in PAH remains unknown. Mice were exposed to hypoxia to mimic several features associated with PAH clinically. We found that JMJD1C was highly expressed in the lungs of mice after hypoxia exposure. JMJD1C knockdown ameliorated hypoxia-induced right ventricular remodeling and thickening of the pulmonary arterial wall. PASMC hyperproliferation and resistance to apoptosis in mice exposed to hypoxia were suppressed by JMJD1C inhibition. We demonstrated that JMJD1C silencing reduced glycolytic enzymes (HK2, PGK1 and LDHA) and lactate overaccumulation in the lungs of mice exposed to hypoxia. In vitro, hypoxia-induced hyperproliferation and activated glycolytic processes in mouse PASMCs were impaired by JMJD1C knockdown. In addition, the activation of STAT3 signaling by hypoxia was suppressed by JMJD1C silencing both in vivo and in vitro. The overexpression of STAT3 reversed the inhibitory effect of JMJD1C depletion on proliferation and glycolysis in PASMCs under hypoxia. Thus, JMJD1C induces glycolytic processes by activating STAT3 signaling to promote PASMC proliferation and pulmonary vascular remodeling, suggesting the potential role of JMJD1C in regulating the metabolic program and vascular remodeling in PAH.

Abstract
Adoptive transfer of hepatitis B virus (HBV) immunity may occur following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Here, we investigated the adoptive transfer of HBV immunity in 112 patients without HBV surface antibody (HBsAb) (HBsAb-) at the time of their first allo-HSCT. After allo-HSCT, HBV-DNA(87.5%) and HBsAg(11.1%%)cleared in HBsAg+ patients. All HBsAg- patients acquired HBsAb immediately. Nevertheless, HBsAb titers subsequently declined, and 39/67 (58.2%) patients lost HBsAb during follow-up. The 5-year overall survival (OS) was better in patients who lost HBsAb. Multivariate analysis showed that the independent risk factors for OS were lack of cytomegalovirus (CMV) clearance, acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD), and no HBsAb loss. Overall, adoptive immune transfer offers anti-HBV protection to patients without HBsAb, as they acquire HBsAb and clear HBV-DNA and HBsAg, while HBsAb loss after allo-HSCT predicts better survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) could develop preceding or come after motor symptoms during Parkinson's disease (PD). It remains unknown that whether PD with different timing of RBD onset relative to motor symptoms suggests different spatiotemporal sequence of neurodegeneration. This study aimed to explore the sequence of disease progression in crucially involved brain regions in PD with different timing of RBD onset. METHOD We recruited 157 PD, 16 isolated RBD (iRBD), and 78 healthy controls. PD patients were identified as (1) PD with RBD preceding motor symptoms (PD-preRBD, n = 50), (2) PD with RBD posterior to motor symptoms (PD-postRBD, n = 31), (3) PD without RBD (PD-nonRBD, n = 75). The volumes of crucial brain regions, including the basal ganglia and limbic structures in T1-weighted imaging, and the contrast-noise-ratios of locus coeruleus (LC) and substantia nigra (SN) in neuromelanin-sensitive magnetic resonance imaging, were extracted. To simulate the sequence of disease progression for cross-sectional data, an event-based model was introduced to estimate the maximum likelihood sequence of regions' involvement for each group. Then, a statistical parameter, the Bhattacharya coefficient (BC), was used to evaluate the similarity of the sequence. RESULTS The model predicted that SN occupied the highest likelihood in the maximum likelihood sequence of disease progression in the all PD subgroups, while LC was specifically positioned earlier to SN in iRBD, a prodromal phase of PD. Subsequent early involvement of LC was observed in the both PD-preRBD and PD-postRBD. In contrast, atrophy in the para-hippocampal gyrus but relatively intact LC in the early stage was demonstrated in PD-nonRBD. Then, the similarity comparisons indicated higher BC between PD-postRBD and PD-preRBD (BC = 0.76) but lower BC between PD-postRBD and PD-nonRBD group (BC = 0.41). iRBD had higher BC against PD-preRBD (BC = 0.66) and PD-postRBD (BC = 0.63) but lower BC against PD- nonRBD (BC = 0.48). CONCLUSION The spatiotemporal sequence of neurodegeneration between PD-pre and PD-post were similar but distinct from PD-nonRBD. The presence of RBD may be the essential factor for differentiating the degeneration patterns of PD, but the timing of RBD onset has currently proved to be not.

Abstract
High-energy-density Li metal batteries (LMBs) with Nickel (Ni)-rich cathode and Li-metal anode have attracted extensive attention in recent years. However, commercial carbonate electrolytes bring severe challenges including poor cycling stability, severe Li dendrite growth and cathode cracks, and narrow operating temperature window, especially hardly work at below -40 °C. In this work, a 2.4 m lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate (LiDFOB) in ethyl acetate (EA) solvent with 20 wt% fluorocarbonate (FEC) (named 2.4m-DEF) is designed to solve Li+ transport dynamic at low temperature and improve interfacial stability between electrolyte with Li anode or Ni-rich cathode. Beneficial lower freezing point, lower viscosity, and higher dielectric constant of EA solvent, the electrolyte exhibits excellent Li+ transport dynamic. Relying on the unique Li+ solvation structure, more DFOB- anions and FEC solvents are decomposed to establish a stable solid electrolyte interface at electrolyte/electrode. Therefore, LiNi0.9 Co0.05 Mn0.05 O2 (NCM90)/Li LMB with 2.4m-DEF enables excellent rate capability (184 mA h g-1 at 30 C) and stable cycling performance with ≈93.7% of capacity retention after 200 cycles at 20 C and room temperature. Moreover, the NCM90/Li LMB with 2.4m-DEF exhibits surprising ultra-low-temperature performance, showing 173 mA h g-1 at -40 °C and 152 mA h g-1 at -60 °C, respectively.

Abstract
Magnetic fluids, as smart nanomaterials, have been successfully used in sealing applications and other fields. However, the temperature of magnetic fluids in the sealing gap is a key factor affecting sealing performances, limiting their application in high-speed sealing fields. Since obtaining a direct measurement of the magnetic fluid's temperature is difficult, due to the small clearance, accurately calculating the maximum temperature of the magnetic fluid layer in high-speed seals is crucial. Herein, a mathematical model for calculating the maximum temperature of the magnetic fluid layer was established, by using a reasonable simplification of high-speed sealing conditions, and the calculation formula was modified by studying the rheological properties of the diester-based magnetic fluid. The results suggest that the calculation of the maximum temperature is influenced by viscous dissipation, and both are related to the rheological characteristics of magnetic fluids. When the influence of rheological properties is ignored, the calculation results are not accurate for higher-velocity seals, but the calculation model applies to lower-velocity seals. When the influence of rheological properties is considered, the calculation results obtained by the corrected formula are more accurate, and they are applicable to both lower- and higher-velocity seals. This work can help us more accurately and conveniently estimate the maximum temperature of magnetic fluids in high-speed seal applications, which is of theoretical and practical research significance for determining sealing performances and thermal designs.

The aim was to investigate Synbiotic 2000 effects on plasma levels of immune activity markers and SCFAs in children and adults with ADHD. ADHD patients (n = 182) completed the 9-week intervention with Synbiotic 2000 or placebo and 156 provided blood samples. Healthy adult controls (n = 57) provided baseline samples. At baseline, adults with ADHD had higher pro-inflammatory sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 and lower SCFA levels than controls. Children with ADHD had higher baseline sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, IL-12/IL-23p40, IL-2Rα, and lower formic, acetic, and propionic acid levels than adults with ADHD. sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, and propionic acid levels were more abnormal in children on medication. Synbiotic 2000, compared to placebo, reduced IL-12/IL-23p40 and sICAM-1 and increased propionic acid levels in children on medication. SCFAs correlated negatively with sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1. Preliminary human aortic smooth-muscle-cell experiments indicated that SCFAs protected against IL-1β-induced ICAM-1 expression. These findings suggest that treatment with Synbiotic 2000 reduces IL12/IL-23p40 and sICAM-1 and increases propionic acid levels in children with ADHD. Propionic acid, together with formic and acetic acid, may contribute to the lowering of the higher-than-normal sICAM-1 levels.
