Primary ovarian pregnancy two years after bilateral tubal ligation. A case report

This is the first documented case of intrafollicular ovarian pregnancy following bilateral tubal ligation. The patency of the previously ligated tube was demonstrated by hysterosalpinography. It appears that the incidence of ovarian pregnancy is not related to the rising incidence of tubal pregnancy.

Chronic encephalomyelitis presenting as chronic progressive myelopathy

Chronic progressive myelopathy is a clinical entity with few neuropathological studies. The most frequent diagnosis in necropsied cases is multiple sclerosis. A case of chronic progressive myelopathy is described with a 16-year course in a woman who was 28 years old at the onset of the disease. At necropsy, there was chronic inflammation in the central nervous system with predominant involvement of the spinal cord with diffuse myelin loss and axonal degeneration.

Primary ovarian pregnancy and the intrauterine contraceptive device

A case of true primary ovarian pregnancy with a Cu-7 intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) in situ was studied. All of Spiegelberg's criteria were satisfied. Review of the literature revealed an apparent increase in the frequency of ovarian pregnancy associated with the use of IUCDs.

The effect of intravenous sodium diatrizoate on the function of the transplanted canine kidney

The response of the canine renal autograft and allograft was measured following intravenous injection of 1 cc/kg 50% sodium diatrizoate (50% Hypaque). There was no significant effect on glomerular filtration rate or renal plasma flow immediately after injection; likewise there was no significant change in GFR 24 hours following injection compared to control animals.

Folate compounds in soybean and cow's mild were identified by Sephadex chromatography and differential microbiological assaymsoybean contained mainly monoglutamates (ca. 52%), some diglutamates (ca. 16%), and polyglutamates (pentaglutamates representing the major portion). 5-CHO-H4PteGlun(1-6) constituted 65-70% of total folate activity; Cow's milk contained monoglutamates (60%) and polyglutamates (ranging from di- to hepta-conjugates). In contrast to soybean, 90-95% of milk folate was in the 5-CH3h4pteGlun(1-7) form.
