Abstract
A chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol)-stabilized copper nanoparticle (CP@Cu NPs) was used as a heterogeneous catalyst for the borylation of α, β-unsaturated ketones, MBH alcohols, and MBH esters in mild conditions. This catalyst not only demonstrated remarkable efficiency in synthesizing organoboron compounds but also still maintained excellent reactivity and stability even after seven recycled uses of the catalyst. This methodology provides a gentle and efficient approach to synthesize the organoboron compounds by efficiently constructing carbon-boron bonds.

Abstract
While of interest, synthetically feasible access to boryl ligands and complexes remains limited, meaning such complexes remain underexploited in catalysis. For bidentate boryl ligands, oxidative addition of boranes to low-valent IrI or Pt0 are the only examples yet reported. As part of our interest in developing improved group 10 ethylene polymerization catalysts, we present here an optimized synthesis of a novel, rigid borane/phosphine ligand and its Ni0 σ-borane complex. From the latter, an unprecedented oxidative dehydrochloroborylation, to give a NiII boryl complex, was achieved. Furthermore, this new B/P ligand allowed the nickel-catalyzed polymerization of ethylene, which suggests that Ni0 σ-hydroborane complexes act as masked NiII boryl hydride reagents.

Abstract
Two-electron reduction of carbene-supported 9-bromo-9-borafluorenes with excess KC8 , Na, or Li-naphthalenide affords six N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)- or cyclic(alkyl)(amino) carbene (CAAC)-stabilized borafluorene anions (3-8)-the first isolated and structurally authenticated examples of the elusive 9-carbene-9-borafluorene monoanion. The electronic structure, bonding, and aromaticity of the boracyclic anions were comprehensively investigated via computational studies. Compounds 5 and 8 react with metal halides via salt elimination to give new B-E (E=Au, Se, Ge)-containing materials (9-12). Upon reaction with diketones, the carbene ligand cleanly dissociates from 5 or 8 to yield new B-O containing spirocycles (13-14) that cannot be easily obtained using "normal" valent borafluorene compounds. Collectively, these results support the notion that carbene-stabilized monoanionic borafluorenes may serve as a new platform for the one-step construction of higher-value boracyclic materials.

Abstract
Copper-alumanyl complexes, [LCu-Al(SiNDipp )], where L=carbene=NHCiPr (N,N'-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethyl-2-ylidene) and Me2 CAAC (1-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-3,3,5,5-tetramethyl-pyrrolidin-2-ylidene) and featuring unsupported Al-Cu bonds, have been prepared. Divergent reactivity observed with carbodiimides and CO2 implies an ambiphilicity in the Cu-Al interaction that is dependent on the identity of the carbene co-ligand.

Abstract
A series of linear late transition metal (M=Cu, Ag, Au and Zn) complexes featuring a side-on [B=C]- containing ligand have been isolated and characterised. The [B=C]- moiety is isoelectronic with the C=C system of an alkene. Comparison across the series shows that in the solid-state, deviation between the η2 and η1 coordination mode occurs. A related zinc complex containing two [B=C]- ligands was prepared as a further point of comparison for the η1 coordination mode. The bonding in these new complexes has been interrogated by computational techniques (QTAIM, NBO, ETS-NOCV) and rationalised in terms of the Dewar-Chatt-Duncanson model. The combined structural and computational data provide unique insight into catalytically relevant linear d10 complexes of Cu, Ag and Au. Slippage is proposed to play a key role in catalytic reactions of alkenes through disruption and polarisation of the π-system. Through the preparation and analysis of a consistent series of group 11 complexes, we show that variation of the metal can impact the coordination mode and hence substrate activation.

Abstract
A convenient and general zinc‐catalyzed borylation of aryl diazonium salts and aryltriazenes has been developed. With bis‐ (pinacolato)diboron as the borylation reagent, aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborate salts and aryltriazenes were transformed into the corresponding arylboronates in moderate to excellent yields under mild conditions. As a convenient and practical methodology, no additional ligands, base, or any other additives are required here.

Abstract
Radical anions of a diphosphene with two boryl substituents were isolated and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, electron spin resonance (ESR), and UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy as well as DFT calculations. Structural analysis of the radical anions revealed an elongation of the P=P bond and a contraction of the B-P bonds relative to the neutral diphosphene. The UV/Vis spectra of these radical anions showed a strong absorption in the visible region, which was assigned to SOMO-related transitions on the basis of DFT calculations. The ESR spectra revealed that the hyperfine coupling constant with the phosphorus nuclei is the smallest that has been reported thus far. The results of the DFT calculations furthermore suggest that this should be attributed to a soaking of electron spin to the vacant p orbitals of the boryl substituents.

Abstract
A boryl-substituted diphosphene was synthesized through the nucleophilic borylation of PCl3 with a borylzinc reagent, followed by a reduction with Mg. A combined analysis of the resulting diboryldiphosphene by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, DFT calculations, and UV/Vis spectroscopy revealed a σ-electron-donating effect for the boryl substituent that was slightly weaker than that of the 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl (Mes*) ligand. The reaction of this diboryldiphosphene with (n) BuLi afforded a boryl-substituted phosphinophosphide that was, in comparison with the thermally unstable Mes*-substituted diaryldiphosphene, stabilized by a π-electron-accepting effect of the boryl substituent.

Abstract
We have clarified and observed the high electron affinity of pinB-BMes2 (1; Mes = mesityl, pin = pinacolato). By using electrochemistry, it was shown that 1 has a higher electron affinity than those of B2pin2 and Mes3B. One-electron reduction of 1 gave the corresponding radical anion. The ESR spectroscopy and DFT calculation revealed the unsymmetrical distribution of electron density over the B-B bond. UV/Vis spectroscopy showed that the SOMO-related absorption supports the deep purple color of the radical anion. DFT studies on the torsion angle dependency of the LUMO levels and relative energies revealed the reason why 1 has high electron affinity as a result of the substituent effect of the Bpin group.

Abstract
Despite the synthesis of a boryl anion by Yamashita et al. in 2006, compounds that show boron-centered nucleophilicity are still rare and sought-after synthetic goals. A number of such boryl anions have since been prepared, two of which were reported to react with methyl iodide in apparent nucleophilic substitution reactions. One of these, a borolyl anion based on the borole framework, has now been found to display single-electron-transfer (SET) reactivity in its reaction with triorganotetrel halides, which was confirmed by the isolation of the first neutral borole-based radical. The radical was characterized by elemental analysis, single-crystal X-ray crystallography, and EPR spectroscopy, and has implications for the understanding of boron-based nucleophilic behavior and the emergent role of boron radicals in synthesis. This radical reactivity was also exploited in the synthesis of compounds with rare B-Sn and B-Pb bonds, the latter of which was the first isolated and structurally characterized compound with a "noncluster" B-Pb bond.

Abstract
A new catalytic system based on a Zn(II) NHC precursor has been developed for the cross-coupling reaction of alkyl halides with diboron reagents, which represents a novel use of a Group XII catalyst for CX borylation. This approach gives borylations of unactivated primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl halides at room temperature to furnish alkyl boronates, with good functional-group compatibility, under mild conditions. Preliminary mechanistic investigations demonstrated that this borylation reaction seems to involve one-electron processes.
