Abstract
Gastric volvulus is a rare condition determined by the rotation of one part of stomach around another. Stomach can rotate around its longitudinal or short axis or both. The presentation can be acute, subacute and chronic due to twisting and untwisting andimaging should be performed in the acute phase. MDCT shows high accuracy in thediagnosis and definition of gastric volvulus being the preferred diagnostic test in emergency settings. Gastric volvulus may be associated or determined by pre-existing hiatal hernia and accurate analysis of CT signs may be evaluated on order to differentiate between a stomach in an abnormal position and a volvulus.At CT, a displaced antrum at the same level or cranial to the fundus and a transition point at the pylorus is diagnostic for mesenteroaxial volvulus. We present a case of a 70 years old woman with mesenteroaxial volvulus in hiatal hernia.

Abstract
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by chronic inflammatory processes of the intestinal tract of unknown origin. Current treatments lack understanding on how to effectively alleviate oxidative stress, relieve inflammation, as well as modulate gut microbiota for maintaining intestinal homeostasis synchronously. In this study, a novel drug delivery system based on a metal polyphenol network (MPN) was constructed via metal coordination between epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and Fe3+. Curcumin (Cur), an active polyphenolic compound, with distinguished anti-inflammatory activity was assembled and encapsulated into MPN to generate Cur-MPN. The obtained Cur-MPN could serve as a robust reactive oxygen species modulator by efficiently scavenging superoxide radical (O2•-) as well as hydroxyl radical (·OH). By hitchhiking yeast microcapsule (YM), Cur-MPN was then encapsulated into YM to obtain CM@YM. Our findings demonstrated that CM@YM was able to protect Cur-MPN to withstand the harsh gastrointestinal environment and enhance the targeting and retention abilities of the inflamed colon. When administered orally, CM@YM could alleviate DSS-induced colitis with protective and therapeutic effects by scavenging ROS, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, and regulating the polarization of macrophages to M1, thus restoring barrier function and maintaining intestinal homeostasis. Importantly, CM@YM also modulated the gut microbiome to a favorable state by improving bacterial diversity and transforming the compositional structure to an anti-inflammatory phenotype as well as increasing the content of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) (such as acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid). Collectively, with excellent biocompatibility, our findings indicate that synergistically regulating intestinal microenvironment will be a promising approach for UC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Deep Learning models have emerged as a significant tool in generating efficient solutions for complex problems including cancer detection, as they can analyze large amounts of data with high efficiency and performance. Recent medical studies highlight the significance of molecular subtype detection in breast cancer, aiding the development of personalized treatment plans as different subtypes of cancer respond better to different therapies. METHODS In this work, we propose a novel lightweight dual-channel attention-based deep learning model MOB-CBAM that utilizes the backbone of MobileNet-V3 architecture with a Convolutional Block Attention Module to make highly accurate and precise predictions about breast cancer. We used the CMMD mammogram dataset to evaluate the proposed model in our study. Nine distinct data subsets were created from the original dataset to perform coarse and fine-grained predictions, enabling it to identify masses, calcifications, benign, malignant tumors and molecular subtypes of cancer, including Luminal A, Luminal B, HER-2 Positive, and Triple Negative. The pipeline incorporates several image pre-processing techniques, including filtering, enhancement, and normalization, for enhancing the model's generalization ability. RESULTS While identifying benign versus malignant tumors, i.e., coarse-grained classification, the MOB-CBAM model produced exceptional results with 99 % accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score values of 0.99 and MCC of 0.98. In terms of fine-grained classification, the MOB-CBAM model has proven to be highly efficient in accurately identifying mass with (benign/malignant) and calcification with (benign/malignant) classification tasks with an impressive accuracy rate of 98 %. We have also cross-validated the efficiency of the proposed MOB-CBAM deep learning architecture on two datasets: MIAS and CBIS-DDSM. On the MIAS dataset, an accuracy of 97 % was reported for the task of classifying benign, malignant, and normal images, while on the CBIS-DDSM dataset, an accuracy of 98 % was achieved for the classification of mass with either benign or malignant, and calcification with benign and malignant tumors. CONCLUSION This study presents lightweight MOB-CBAM, a novel deep learning framework, to address breast cancer diagnosis and subtype prediction. The model's innovative incorporation of the CBAM enhances precise predictions. The extensive evaluation of the CMMD dataset and cross-validation on other datasets affirm the model's efficacy.

Abstract
In this editorial we comment on the article by Zhang et al published in a recent issue of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Gastrectomy with appropriate lymph node dissection is still standard curative treatment in locally advanced gastric cancer. Several studies point out that gastric cancer surgery is a complex procedure that leads to a high risk of morbidity and mortality. Many factors can contribute to the onset of complications with consequent effects on prognosis and increased mortality. The complications can be divided in complications related to anastomosis, to motility and to surgical site infection. The study presented by Zhang B et al represent an interesting analysis on the possibility to prevent postoperative morbidity. The study was performed on 131 patients with distal gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection. Of these patients, 16% developed early postoperative complications. The univariate analysis showed that prealbumin level, hypertension, diabetes, history of abdominal surgery, R0 resection, and blood transfusion were factors influencing early postoperative complications after distal gastrectomy. Moreover, the inclusion of the above significant variables in the logistic regression analysis revealed that hypertension, diabetes, a history of abdominal surgery, and blood transfusion were independent predictors of postoperative complications. In conclusion, preoperative and intraoperative factors can be used to establish an early postoperative nomogram model. The results of the study presented by Zhang et al suggest that the prediction model can be used to guide the detection of postoperative complications and has clinical reference value.

Abstract
Na, K-ATPase interaction (NKAIN) is a transmembrane protein family, which can interact with Na, K-ATPase β1 subunit. NKAIN1 plays an important role in alcohol-dependent diseases such as endometrial and prostate cancers. However, the relationship between NKAIN1 and human breast cancer has not been studied. Hence, this study aimed to explore the relationship between NKAIN1 expression and breast cancer. Data used in this study were mainly from the Cancer Genome Atlas, including differential expression analysis, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, multiple Cox regression analysis, co-expression gene analysis, and gene set enrichment analysis. Analyses were performed using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blot analysis, and immunohistochemistry on 46 collected samples. The knockdown or overexpression of NKAIN1 in vitro in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines altered the proliferation and migration abilities of tumor cells. In vivo experiments further confirmed that NKAIN1 knockdown effectively inhibited the proliferation and migration of cancer cells. Therefore, our study identified NKAIN1 as an oncogene that is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues. The findings highlight the potential of NKAIN1 as a molecular biomarker of breast cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND pregnancy-associated breast cancer (PABC) affects one in 3000 pregnancies, often presenting with aggressive features. METHODS We retrospectively evaluated a cohort of 282 young BC patients (≤45 years old) treated between 1995 and 2019, dividing them into three groups: nulliparous women, women with PABC (diagnosed within 2 years since last pregnancy) and women with BC diagnosed > 2 years since last pregnancy. This last group was further stratified according to the time between pregnancy and BC. The analysis encompassed histological factors (tumor size, histotype, grading, nodal involvement, multifocality, lympho-vascular invasion, hormone receptor expression, Ki-67 index, and HER2 expression), type of surgery and recurrence. RESULTS Age at diagnosis was younger in nulliparous than in parous women (p < 0.001). No significant differences were noticed regarding histological characteristics and recurrences. At univariate analysis, nodal involvement (OR = 2.4; p < 0.0001), high tumor grade (OR = 2.6; p = 0.01), and lympho-vascular invasion (OR = 2.3; p < 0.05), but not pregnancy (OR = 0.8; p = 0.30), influenced DFS negatively. Multivariate analysis confirmed nodal involvement as the only negative independent prognostic factor for a worse DFS (OR = 2.4; p = 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS in our experience, pregnancy is not an independent adverse prognostic factor for BC DFS.

Abstract
Cancer is a life-threatening disease and one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Despite significant advancements in therapeutic options, most available anti-cancer agents have limited efficacy. In this context, natural compounds with diverse chemical structures have been investigated for their multimodal anti-cancer properties. Curcumin is a polyphenol isolated from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa and has been widely studied for its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-cancer effects. Curcumin acts on the regulation of different aspects of cancer development, including initiation, metastasis, angiogenesis, and progression. The phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) pathway is a key target in cancer therapy, since it is implicated in initiation, proliferation, and cancer cell survival. Curcumin has been found to inhibit the PI3K/Akt pathway in tumor cells, primarily via the regulation of different key mediators, including growth factors, protein kinases, and cytokines. This review presents the therapeutic potential of curcumin in different malignancies, such as glioblastoma, prostate and breast cancer, and head and neck cancers, through the targeting of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

Abstract
Despite ongoing research in the field of breast cancer, the morbidity rates indicate that the disease remains a significant challenge. While patients with primary tumors have relatively high survival rates, these chances significantly decrease once metastasis begins. Thus, exploring alternative approaches, such as targeting proteins overexpressed in malignancies, remains significant. Filamin A (FLNa), an actin-binding protein (ABP), is involved in various cellular processes, including cell migration, adhesion, proliferation, and DNA repair. Overexpression of the protein was confirmed in samples from patients with numerous oncological diseases such as prostate, lung, gastric, colorectal, and pancreatic cancer, as well as breast cancer. Although most researchers concur on its role in promoting breast cancer progression and aggressiveness, discrepancies exist among studies. Moreover, the precise mechanisms through which FLNa affects cell migration, invasion, and even cancer progression remain unclear, highlighting the need for further research. To evaluate FLNa's potential as a therapeutic target, we have summarized its roles in breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to investigate the association between specific lipidomes and the risk of breast cancer (BC) using the Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization (TSMR) approach and Bayesian Model Averaging Mendelian Randomization (BMA-MR) method. METHOD The study analyzed data from large-scale GWAS datasets of 179 lipidomes to assess the relationship between lipidomes and BC risk across different molecular subtypes. TSMR was employed to explore causal relationships, while the BMA-MR method was carried out to validate the results. The study assessed heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy through Cochran's Q, MR-Egger intercept tests, and MR-PRESSO. Moreover, a leave-one-out sensitivity analysis was performed to evaluate the impact of individual single nucleotide polymorphisms on the MR study. RESULTS By examining 179 lipidome traits as exposures and BC as the outcome, the study revealed significant causal effects of glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, and glycerolipids on BC risk. Specifically, for estrogen receptor-positive BC (ER+ BC), phosphatidylcholine (P < 0.05) and phosphatidylinositol (OR: 0.916-0.966, P < 0.05) within glycerophospholipids play significant roles, along with the importance of glycerolipids (diacylglycerol (OR = 0.923, P < 0.001) and triacylglycerol, OR: 0.894-0.960, P < 0.05)). However, the study did not observe a noteworthy impact of sphingolipids on ER+BC. In the case of estrogen receptor-negative BC (ER- BC), not only glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids (OR = 1.085, P = 0.008), and glycerolipids (OR = 0.909, P = 0.002) exerted an influence, but the protective effect of sterols (OR: 1.034-1.056, P < 0.05) was also discovered. The prominence of glycerolipids was minimal in ER-BC. Phosphatidylethanolamine (OR: 1.091-1.119, P < 0.05) was an important causal effect in ER-BC. CONCLUSIONS The findings reveal that phosphatidylinositol and triglycerides levels decreased the risk of BC, indicating a potential protective role of these lipid molecules. Moreover, the study elucidates BC's intricate lipid metabolic pathways, highlighting diverse lipidome structural variations that may have varying effects in different molecular subtypes.

Abstract
Breast cancer is a common malignancy with the highest mortality rate among women worldwide. Its incidence is on the rise year after year, accounting for more than one-tenth of new cancers worldwide. Increasing evidence suggests that forkhead box (FOX) transcription factors play an important role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. However, little is known about the relationship between the expression, prognostic value, function, and immune infiltration of FOX transcription factors in tumor microenvironment. We used bioinformatics to investigate expression and function of FOX factor in breast cancer. Our results revealed the expression levels of FOXA1 and FOXM1 were significantly higher in breast cancer tissues than in normal tissues. The high expression of mRNA in FOXA1 (P < .05), FOXM1 (P < .01), and FOXP1 (P < .05) groups was related to tumor stage. Survival analysis results showed that increased FOXP1 mRNA levels were significantly associated with overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) in all patients with breast cancer (P < .05). Patients with the FOXA1 high-expression group had better RFS and DMFS than the low-expression group (P < .05), while patients with FOXM1 high-expression group had worse RFS, OS, and DMFS than the low-expression group (P < .05). Meanwhile, mutation analysis showed that genetic alterations in FOX transcription factors were significantly associated with shorter OS and progression-free survival (P < .05), but not with disease-free survival (P = .710) in patients with breast cancer. FOXP1, FOXA1, and FOXM1 may be used as potential biomarkers to predict the prognosis of patients with breast cancer. Functional enrichment indicated that FOX was mainly involved in cell division, cell senescence, cell cycle, and prolactin signaling pathway. In patients with breast cancer, FOXC2 expression was negatively correlated with the infiltration of B cells and positively correlated with the infiltration of neutrophils and dendritic cells. However, FOXM1 was negatively correlated with the infiltration of CD8 + T cells and macrophages and positively correlated with the infiltration of neutrophils and dendritic cells. These findings provided novel insights into the screening of prognostic biomarkers of the FOX family in breast cancer and laid a foundation for further research on the immune infiltration of the FOX transcription factor family members in tumors.

Abstract
Curcumin, an organic phenolic molecule that is extracted from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa Linn, has undergone extensive evaluation for its diverse biological activities in both animals and humans. Despite its favorable characteristics, curcumin encounters various formulation challenges and stability issues that can be effectively addressed through the application of nanotechnology. Nano-based techniques specifically focused on enhancing solubility, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy while mitigating toxicity, have been explored for curcumin. This review systematically presents information on the improvement of curcumin's beneficial properties when incorporated, either individually or in conjunction with other drugs, into diverse nanosystems such as liposomes, nanoemulsions, polymeric micelles, dendrimers, polymeric nanoparticles, solid-lipid nanoparticles, and nanostructured lipid carriers. Additionally, the review examines ongoing clinical trials and recently granted patents, offering a thorough overview of the dynamic landscape in curcumin delivery. Researchers are currently exploring nanocarriers with crucial features such as surface modification, substantial loading capacity, biodegradability, compatibility, and autonomous targeting specificity and selectivity. Nevertheless, the utilization of nanocarriers for curcumin delivery is still in its initial phases, with regulatory approval pending and persistent safety concerns surrounding their use.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess and compare the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced MRI (CEMRI) and contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) for evaluating the response of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE). DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis. DATA SOURCES PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI and Wanfang databases were systematically searched from inception to 1 August 2023. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Studies with any outcome that demonstrates the diagnostic performance of CEMRI and CECT for HCC after TACE were included. DATA EXTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS Two authors independently extracted the data and assessed the quality of included studies. Study quality was assessed using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2. The diagnostic performance of CEMRI and CECT for the response of HCC was investigated by collecting true and false positives, true and false negatives, or transformed-derived data from each study to calculate specificity and sensitivity. Other outcomes are the positive likelihood ratio/negative likelihood ratio (NLR), the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for diagnostic tests and the diagnostic OR (DOR). Findings were summarised and synthesised qualitatively according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. RESULTS This study included 5843 HCC patients diagnosed with CEMRI or CECT and treated with TACE from 36 studies. The mean proportion of men in the total sample was 76.3%. The pool sensitivity, specificity and AUC of CEMRI in diagnosing HCC after TACE were 0.92 (95% CI: 0.86 to 0.96), 0.94 (95% CI: 0.86 to 0.98) and 0.98 (95% CI: 0.96 to 0.99). The pool sensitivity, specificity and AUC of CECT in diagnosing HCC after TACE were 0.74 (95% CI: 0.68 to 0.80), 0.98 (95% CI: 0.93 to 1.00) and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.88 to 0.93). CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, this study found that both CEMRI and CECT had relatively high predictive power for assessing the response of HCC after TACE. Furthermore, the diagnostic value of CEMRI may be superior to CECT in terms of sensitivity, AUC, DOR and NLR.

Abstract
Background: Curcumin (CUR), an effective traditional Chinese medicinal extract, displays good anti-cancer activity against various cancers. Nevertheless, the impacts and fundamental mechanisms of CUR to treat esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) yet to be comprehensively clarified. This study examined the suppressive impacts of CUR on ESCC. Methods: For a comprehensive understanding of the effect of CUR in ESCC. The CUR targets and ESCC-related genes were identified respectively, and the intersection targets between CUR and ESCC were acquired. Then, we examined the intersection targets and discovered genes that were expressed differently in ESCC. Using DAVID, enrichment analyses were conducted on the targets of CUR-ESCC. The STRING database and Cytoscape v.3.9.1 were utilized to build networks for protein-protein interaction (PPI) and drug-target-pathway. Furthermore, the interactions between CUR and its core targets were confirmed by molecular docking studies. To confirm the effects of CUR on ESCC cells, in vitro experiments were finally conducted. Results: Overall, 47 potential CUR targets for ESCC treatment were identified. The KEGG pathway enrichment analysis identified 61 signaling pathways, primarily associated with the FoxO signaling, the cell cycle, cellular senescence, the IL-17 signaling pathway which play important roles in ESCC progression. In the PPI network and the docking results identified CHEK1 and CDK6 as the core targets that positively associated with ESCC survival. CUR arrested ESCC cells at the G2/M and S phases, as shown by flow cytometry. Colony formation and CCK8 assays showed that CUR can inhibit the proliferative ability of ESCC cells. The Transwell invasion results validated that CUR can significantly inhibit the invasion rates of ESCC cells. Conclusion: Collectively, these findings indicate that CUR exhibits pharmacological effects on multiple targets and pathways in ESCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Precise preoperative localization of liver tumors facilitates successful surgical procedures, Intraoperative ultrasonography is a sensitive imaging modality. However, the presence of small non-palpable isoechoic intraparenchymal lesions may be challenging intraoperatively. METHODOLOGY AND MATERIAL DESCRIPTION Onyx® is a non-adhesive liquid agent comprised of ethylene-vinyl alcohol usually used dissolved in dimethyl-sulfoxide and suspended micronized tantalum powder to provide contrast for visualization under fluoroscopy and ultrasonography and a macroscopic black shape. This embolization material has been increasingly used for the embolization of intracranial arteriovenous malformations. We present the novel application of Onyx® on liver surgery. CURRENT STATUS We present the case of a female, 55 years-old, whose medical history revealed an elective sigmoidectomy (pT3N1a). After 17 months of follow up, by PET-CT scan, the patient was diagnosed of a small intraparenchymal hypo-attenuated 13 mm tumor located at segment V consistent with metachronous colorectal liver metastasis. Open metastasectomy was performed, ultrasonography-guided Onyx® infusion was delivered the day after, intraoperative ultrasonography showed a palpable hyperechoic material with a posterior acoustic shadowing artifact around the lesion. Onyx® is a promising new tool, without any previous application on liver surgery, feasible with advantages in small not palpable intraparenchymal liver lesions.

Abstract
In women, breast cancer (BC) accounts for 7%-10% of all cancer cases and is one of the most common cancers. To identify a new method for treating BC, the role of CD93 and its underlying mechanism were explored. MDA-MB-231 cells were used in this study and transfected with si-CD93, si-MMRN2, oe-CD93, si-integrin β1, or oe-SP2 lentivirus. After MDA-MB-231 cells were transfected with si-NC or si-CD93, they were injected into nude mice by subcutaneous injection at a dose of 5 × 106/mouse to construct a BC animal model. The expression of genes and proteins and cell migration, invasion and vasculogenic mimicry were detected by RT‒qPCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, Transwell, and angiogenesis assays. In pathological samples and BC cell lines, CD93 was highly expressed. Functionally, CD93 promoted the proliferation, migration, and vasculogenic mimicry of MDA-MB-231 cells. Moreover, CD93 interacts with MMRN2 and integrin β1. Knockdown of CD93 and MMRN2 can inhibit the activation of integrin β1, thereby inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/SP2 signaling pathway and inhibiting BC growth and vasculogenic mimicry. In conclusion, the binding of CD93 to MMRN2 can activate integrin β1, thereby activating the PI3K/AKT/SP2 signaling pathway and subsequently promoting BC growth and vasculogenic mimicry.

Abstract
Ferroptosis, a novel form of regulated cell death characterized by dependence on iron and lipid peroxidation, has been implicated in a wide range of clinical conditions including neurological diseases, cardiovascular disorders, acute kidney failure, and various types of cancer. Therefore, it is critical to suppress cancer progression and proliferation. Ferroptosis can be triggered in cancer cells and some normal cells by synthetic substances, such as erastin, Ras-selective lethal small molecule-3, or clinical pharmaceuticals. Natural bioactive compounds are traditional drug discovery tools, and some have been therapeutically used as dietary additives or pharmaceutical agents against various malignancies. The fact that natural products have multiple targets and minimal side effects has led to notable advances in anticancer research. Research has indicated that ferroptosis can also be induced by natural compounds during cancer treatment. In this review, we focused on the most recent developments in emerging molecular processes and the significance of ferroptosis in cancer. To provide new perspectives on the future development of ferroptosis-related anticancer medications, we also provide a summary of the implications of natural phytochemicals in triggering ferroptosis through ROS production and ferritinophagy induction in a variety of malignancies.

Abstract
The fibroblast activating protein (FAP) is expressed by some fibroblasts found in healthy tissues. However, FAP is overexpressed in more than 90% of epithelial tumors, including breast and gynecological tumors. As a result, the FAP ligand could be used as a target for diagnosis and treatment purposes. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is a hybrid imaging technique commonly used to locate and assess the tumor's molecular and metabolic functions. PET imaging involves the injection of a radiotracer that tends to accumulate more in metabolically active lesions such as cancer. Several radiotracers have been developed to target FAP in PET/CT imaging, such as the fibroblast-activation protein inhibitor (FAPI). These tracers bind to FAP with high specificity and affinity, allowing for the non-invasive detection and quantification of FAP expression in tumors. In this review, we discussed the applications of FAPI PET/CT in the diagnosis and treatment of breast and the most common gynecologic malignancies. Radiolabeled FAPI can improve the detection, staging, and assessment of treatment response in breast and the most common gynecologic malignancies, but the problem with normal hormone-responsive organs remains insurmountable. Compared to the diagnostic applications of FAPI, further research is needed for future therapeutic applications.

Abstract
The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process is closely linked to metastasis of breast cancer. This article elucidates the role of Y-box binding protein-1 (YB-1) on the migration and invasion of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells by regulating EMT, and the related mechanism. The expression data of YB-1 and miR-509-3-5p in TNBC samples and normal samples were downloaded from the GEO database. The proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT of TNBC cells were detected by CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, wound-healing assay, transwell assay, and immunoblotting analyses. The targeted binding of YB-1 and miR-509-3-5p was validated by luciferase reporter experiment. A xenograft mouse model was constructed to investigate the influence of the miR-509-3-5p/YB-1 axis on TNBC tumor growth in vivo. YB-1 was overexpressed, while miR-509-3-5p was underexpressed in TNBC tumor tissues and various cell lines. Silencing YB-1 depressed cell viability, proliferation, motility, and EMT in vitro, and miR-509-3-5p upregulation exerted the same effects. YB-1 was targeted by miR-509-3-5p. The suppressive effects on the phenotypes of TNBC cells caused by overexpressed miR-509-3-5p were attenuated by YB-1 upregulation. In addition, miR-509-3-5p overexpression restrained TNBC tumor growth and downregulated the YB-1-mediated EMT process in vivo. YB-1 targeted by miR-509-3-5p affects motility of TNBC cells by regulating cellular EMT.

Abstract
CircRNAs are involved in multiple aspects during carcinogenesis, including tumorigenesis, vascularization, apoptosis and others. Exploring the role of circRNAs in breast cancer (BC) enables us to understand the development mechanism of BC more comprehensively. Here, we screened out and verified an up-regulated circRNA in BC from GEO data. Quantitative Real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) showed that circ_0065214 had a high expression level in BC patients. Besides, circ_0065214 had good diagnostic value in BC serum, and the area under the diagnostic curve, sensitivity and specificity were 0.78, 0.63 and 0.85, respectively. The combined application of circ_0065214 with CEA and CA-153 can further improve the diagnostic efficiency. The knockdown of circ_0065214 in vivo and in vitro inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of BC, but promoted autophagy. At last, dual-luciferase reporter assay and rescue assays revealed that circ_0065214 acted as a decoy to adsorb miR-188-3p, and then relieved the repressive effect of miR-188-3p on its target GPNMB. Our results demonstrated that circ_0065214 regulated the expression of GPNMB by competitively binding to miR-188-3p, thus promoting the proliferation, migration and invasion of breast cancer cells and inhibiting autophagy. These findings provided an original therapeutic strategy for BC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Several imaging modalities have been suggested for surveillance after fenestrated endovascular aortic repair in general and endoleak detection in specific. In the present project a coded excitation-based ultrasound (B-Flow) was investigated for endoleak detection after complex endovascular aortic repair. METHODS Patients post complex endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR or T/FEVAR) undergoing follow-up appointments including ultrasonography of the aorta at a vascular and endovascular surgery outpatient center were included in the study. B-Flow was compared with computed tomography angiography (CTA), Duplex ultrasound (DUS), and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) regarding agreement and reliability for endoleak detection and characterization. RESULTS In total, 47 follow-ups were included. They accumulated in a total of 149 imaging investigations. Endoleaks were discovered in 44.7% of B-Flow studies and a majority of these endoleaks were classified as type II. Agreement between B-Flow and other imaging modalities was good (>80.0%) in general. However, with B-Flow 6 and 2 endoleaks would have been missed compared with CEUS and CTA, respectively. Regarding endoleak classification, B-Flow had a strong agreement (94.5%) with CEUS in detected cases. Furthermore, in a limited subset analysis, imaging findings were externally validated using findings from angiography. CONCLUSIONS Ultrasonography allows for endoleak detection and characterization without an invasive procedure or the use of potentially nephrotoxic contrast medium and can reduce radiation exposure. While CEUS mitigates issues of radiation and nephrotoxicity it still requires the intravenous application of contrast enhancers. Ultrasound coded-excitation imaging such as B-Flow could therefore further simplify endoleak surveillance after fenestrated endovascular aortic repair.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Breast cancer remains the predominant cancer among females, accounting for about 24.2% of all cancer cases. Alarmingly, it is the primary cause of cancer-related mortality in women under 45. METHODS This research analyzed RNA sequencing data from 1082 TCGA-BRCA and 107 GSE58812 breast cancer patients. Single-cell RNA data from five patients in the GSE118389 data set were also studied. Using Random forest and COX regression, we developed a prognostic model. Pathway analysis employed GSVA and GO, while immune profiles were assessed via ssGSEA and MCPcounter. Mutation patterns utilized maftools, and drug sensitivity scores were derived from the GDSC database with oncoPredict. RESULTS Analysis of the GSE118389 data set identified three distinct cell types: immune, epithelial, and stromal. P53 and VEGF were notably enriched. Five key genes (TMEM251, ADAMTSL2, CDC123, PSMD1, TLE1) were pinpointed for their prognostic significance. We introduced a disulfidptosis-associated score as a novel risk factor for breast cancer prognosis. Survival outcomes varied significantly between training and validation sets. Comprehensive immune profiling revealed no difference in activated CD8-positive T cells between risk groups, but a positive correlation of NK cells, neutrophils, cytotoxic lymphocytes, and monocytic cells with the riskscore was noted. Importantly, a negative association between the drug Nelarabine and riskscore was identified. Abstract
The present study investigated the prognostic impact of preoperative serum ferritin (SF) levels on the survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). Clinicopathological characteristics and laboratory biomarkers of 223 patients with HCC who underwent TACE were retrospectively reviewed. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the overall survival (OS), and the log-rank test was used to evaluate statistical significance. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using Cox proportional hazards regression to evaluate the prognostic impact of SF in these patients. The present findings identified extrahepatic metastases [hazard ratio (HR)=0.490,95%; confidence interval (CI)=0.282-0.843; P=0.010)] and vascular invasion (HR=0.373; 95% CI=0.225-0.619; P<0.0001) as independent prognostic factors for OS. However, preoperative SF levels could not independently predict OS when compared with other prognostic factors (HR=0.810; 95% CI=0.539-1.216; P=0.309). In conclusion, preoperative SF level is an unreliable biochemical predictor of survival in patients with HCC undergoing TACE.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) and immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) have long been praised for excellent cosmetic results and the resultant psychosocial benefits, the feasibility and safety of these procedures in patients older than 60 years have yet to be demonstrated in a large population. METHODS Patients undergoing NSM with or without IBR at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital between 1998 and 2017 were included. Patient demographics, surgical intervention, and complication and recurrence events were retrieved from electronic medical records. Primary outcomes were recurrence and complication rates by age groups older and younger than 60 years. RESULTS There were 673 breasts from 397 patients; 58 (8.6%) older than 60 years and 615 (91.4%) younger than 60 years with mean follow-up of 5.43 (0.12) years. The mean age for those older than 60 was 63.9 (3.3) years, whereas that for those younger than 60 was 43.1 (7.9) years (P < 0.001). The older than 60 group had significantly higher prevalence of diabetes, rates of therapeutic (vs prophylactic) and unilateral (vs bilateral) NSM, and mastectomy weight. However, there were no significant differences by age group in complication rates or increased risk of locoregional or distant recurrence with age. CONCLUSIONS Based on similar complication profiles in both age groups, we demonstrate safety and feasibility of both NSM and IBR in the aging population. Despite increased age and comorbidity status, appropriately selected older women were able to achieve similar outcomes to younger women undergoing NSM with or without IBR.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The field of personalized medicine has gained increasing attention in cancer care, with the aim of tailoring treatment strategies to individual patients for improved outcomes. Herbal medicine, with its long-standing historical use and extensive bioactive compounds, offers a rich source of potential treatments for various diseases, including cancer. OBJECTIVE To provide an overview of the current knowledge and evidence associated with incorporating herbal compounds into precision medicine strategies for cancer diseases. Additionally, to explore the general characteristics of the studies included in the analysis, focusing on their key features and trends. SEARCH STRATEGY A comprehensive literature search was conducted from multiple online databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and CINAHL-EBSCO. The search strategy was designed to identify studies related to personalized cancer medicine and herbal interventions. INCLUSION CRITERIA Publications pertaining to cancer research conducted through in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies, employing natural products were included in this review. DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS Two review authors independently applied inclusion and inclusion criteria, data extraction, and assessments of methodological quality. The quality assessment and biases of the studies were evaluated based on modified Jadad scales. A detailed quantitative summary of the included studies is presented, providing a comprehensive description of their key features and findings. RESULTS A total of 121 studies were included in this review for analysis. Some of them were considered as comprehensive experimental investigations both in vitro and in vivo. The majority (n = 85) of the studies included in this review were conducted in vitro, with 44 of them specifically investigating the effects of herbal medicine on animal models. Additionally, 7 articles with a combined sample size of 31,271 patients, examined the impact of herbal medicine in clinical settings. CONCLUSION Personalized medication can optimize the use of herbal medicine in cancer treatment by considering individual patient factors such as genetics, medical history, and other treatments. Additionally, active phytochemicals found in herbs have shown potential for inhibiting cancer cell growth and inducing apoptosis, making them a promising area of research in preclinical and clinical investigations. Abstract
Purpose Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most lethal subtype of breast cancer. However, the effect of current treatment strategies by inducing tumor cell apoptosis alone is not satisfactory. The growth, metastasis and treatment sensitivity of tumors can be strongly influenced by cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the microenvironment. Effective cancer therapies may need to target not only the tumor cells directly but also the CAFs that protect them. Methods Celastrol and small-sized micelles containing betulinic acid were co-encapsulated into liposomes using the thin-film hydration method (CL@BM). Folic acid was further introduced to modify liposomes as the targeting moiety (F/CL@BM). We established a novel NIH3T3+4T1 co-culture model to mimic the tumor microenvironment and assessed the nanocarrier's inhibitory effects on CAFs-induced drug resistance and migration in the co-culture model. The in vivo biological distribution, fluorescence imaging, biological safety evaluation, and combined therapeutic effect evaluation of the nanocarrier were carried out based on a triple-negative breast cancer model. Results In the present study, a novel multifunctional nano-formulation was designed by combining the advantages of sequential release, co-loading of tretinoin and betulinic acid, and folic acid-mediated active targeting. As expected, the nano-formulation exhibited enhanced cytotoxicity in different cellular models and effectively increased drug accumulation at the tumor site by disrupting the cellular barrier composed of CAFs by tretinoin. Notably, the co-loaded nano-formulations proved to be more potent in inhibiting tumor growth in mice and also showed better anti-metastatic effects in lung metastasis models compared to the formulations with either drug alone. This novel drug delivery system has the potential to be used to develop more effective cancer therapies. Conclusion Targeting CAFs with celastrol sensitizes tumor cells to chemotherapy, increasing the efficacy of betulinic acid. The combination of drugs targeting tumor cells and CAFs may lead to more effective therapies against various cancers.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the diagnostic performance of a dual-energy computed tomography (DECT)-based material decomposition algorithm for iodine quantification and fat fraction analysis to detect lymph node metastases in breast cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS 30 female patients (mean age, 63.12 ± 14.2 years) diagnosed with breast cancer who underwent pre-operative chest DECT were included. To establish a reference standard, the study correlated histologic repots after lymphadenectomy or confirming metastasis in previous/follow-up examinations. Iodine concentration and fat fraction were determined through region-of-interest measurements on venous DECT iodine maps. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was conducted to identify the optimal threshold for differentiating between metastatic and non-metastatic lymph nodes. RESULTS A total of 168 lymph nodes were evaluated, divided into axillary (metastatic: 46, normal: 101) and intramammary (metastatic: 10, normal: 11). DECT-based fat fraction values exhibited significant differences between metastatic (9.56 ± 6.20%) and non-metastatic lymph nodes (41.52 ± 19.97%) (p < 0.0001). Absolute iodine concentrations showed no significant differences (2.25 ± 0.97 mg/mL vs. 2.08 ± 0.97 mg/mL) (p = 0.7999). The optimal fat fraction threshold for diagnosing metastatic lymph nodes was determined to be 17.75%, offering a sensitivity of 98% and a specificity of 94%. CONCLUSIONS DECT fat fraction analysis emerges as a promising method for identifying metastatic lymph nodes, overcoming the morpho-volumetric limitations of conventional CT regarding lymph node assessment. This innovative approach holds potential for improving pre-operative lymph node evaluation in breast cancer patients, offering enhanced diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract
Introduction Breast cancer (BC) is one of the commonest cancers among women worldwide. Differences regarding tumor biology, presentation, genetics, and molecular subtypes may contribute to the relatively poorer prognosis among younger women. Limited information exists regarding pathologic characteristics and long-term outcomes among this group. Methods This retrospective cohort study included 695 BC patients diagnosed over a 10-year period and investigated the clinicopathological characteristics and long-term disease outcomes among patients diagnosed at age less than or equal to 40 years compared with older ones. Cox regression analysis was performed, and Kaplan-Meier curves were generated to assess overall survival (OS). Results Compared with the younger patients (⩽40 years) estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression was mainly positive in older patients (>40 years) (76.2% vs 61.3% and 64.2% vs 49.6%, respectively). The most common molecular subtype in both age groups was luminal B (44.1% in older and 40.3% in younger). A clinical complete remission after neoadjuvant therapy was observed more frequently in older patients (76.7%; N = 442) in comparison with the younger patients (66.4%; N = 79) (P = .018). Recurrence and disease progression were significantly more likely to occur among younger patients accounting for 12.6% and 29.4% of the cases, compared with 6.3% and 18.2% in older patients (P = .016 and P = .006, respectively). The overall mortality was 132 (19%) of 695, with 88% cancer-related deaths. Estrogen receptor and PR expression (P ⩽ .001 and P = .003, respectively), molecular subtype (P = .002), tumor grade (P = .002), and N stage (P = .038) were the variables that were found to be significantly influenced by age. The OS was not statistically different among 2 age groups, but younger patients with luminal A molecular subtype showed significantly poor outcome (P = .019). Conclusion Overall survival in women diagnosed with BC at age less than or equal to 40 years is not significantly worse than older patients. However, among patients with luminal A subtype, younger women had relatively poor survival. Further research is needed to understand this age-based disparity in outcomes.

Abstract
Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most prevalent cancer in humans, with a high global incidence. We present a prospective clinical feasibility study on the use of intraoperative flow cytometry (iFC) for the instant diagnosis of NMSC and its complete surgical clearance. Flow cytometry, a laser-based technique, quantifies cell features, which has applications in cancer research. This study aim is to explore the potential applicability of iFC in detecting and characterizing NMSC and its surgical margins. In total, 30 patients who underwent diagnosis for NMSC were recruited. The method demonstrated high sensitivity (95.2%) and specificity (87.1%), with an accuracy of 91.1%, as confirmed with a receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The results also indicated that most tumors were diploid, with two cases being hypoploid. The average G0/G1 fractions for normal and tumor tissue samples were 96.03 ± 0.30% and 88.03 ± 1.29%, respectively, with the tumor index escalating from 3.89 ± 0.30% to 11.95 ± 1.29% in cancerous cells. These findings underscore iFC's capability for precise intraoperative NMSC characterization and margin evaluation, promising enhanced complete tumor excision rates. Given the technique's successful application in various other malignancies, its implementation in NMSC diagnosis and treatment holds significant promise and warrants further research in clinical trials.

Abstract
Circular RNA (circRNA) has been confirmed to regulate breast cancer (BC) progression. However, the role of circ_0059457 in BC progression is still unclear.The expression of circ_0059457, taspase 1 (TASP1), microRNA (miR)-140-3p and ubiquitin-binding enzyme E2C (UBE2C) was detected by quantitative real-time PCR. Cell proliferation, migration, invasion and sphere formation ability were assessed by cell counting kit-8 assay, EdU assay, wound healing assay, transwell assay and sphere formation assay. Cell glycolysis was assessed by detecting glucose uptake, lactate levels and ATP/ADP ratio. Dual-luciferase reporter assay, RIP assay, RNA pull-down assay were used to validate RNA interaction. Xenograft tumor model to assess the effect of circ_0059457 on BC tumor growth in vivo. Circ_0059457 had elevated expression in BC tissues and cells. Circ_0059457 knockdown inhibited BC cell proliferation, metastasis, sphere formation ability, and glycolysis. In terms of mechanism, circ_0059457 sponged miR-140-3p, and miR-140-3p targeted UBE2C. MiR-140-3p inhibition reversed the effect of circ_0059457 knockdown on BC cell malignant behaviors. Besides, miR-140-3p overexpression inhibited BC cell proliferation, metastasis, sphere formation ability and glycolysis, and these effects were abrogated by UBE2C enhancement. Furthermore, circ_0059457 regulated UBE2C expression through sponging miR-140-3p. Additionally, circ_0059457 knockdown obviously inhibited BC tumor growth in vivo. Circ_0059457 promoted BC progression via miR-140-3p/UBE2C axis, which provided potential target for the treatment of BC.

Abstract
Curcumin is a plant polyphenol in turmeric root and a potent antioxidant. It binds to antioxidant response elements for gene regulation by nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2, thereby suppressing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and exerting anti-inflammatory, anti-infective and other pharmacological effects. Of note, curcumin induces oxidative stress in tumors. It binds to several enzymes in tumors, such as carbonyl reductases, glutathione S-transferase P1 and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate to induce mitochondrial damage, increase ROS production and ultimately induce tumor cell death. However, the instability and poor pharmacokinetic profile of curcumin in vivo limit its clinical application. Therefore, the effects of curcumin in vivo may be enhanced through its combination with drugs, derivative development and nanocarriers. In the present review, the mechanisms of curcumin that induce tumor cell death through oxidative stress are discussed. In addition, the methods used to enhance the antitumor activity of curcumin are described. Finally, the existing knowledge on the functions of curcumin in tumors, particularly in terms of oxidative stress, are summarized to facilitate future curcumin research.

Abstract
Breast cancer is increasingly common among young women in Ghana. BCa is heterogeneous with unique traits that impact causes, prognostic, and predictive outcomes of patients before and after menopause. However, limited evidence exists on differences between young premenopausal (YPM) and postmenopausal cases in Ghana. This study compared breast tumour characteristics between YPM women (under 35 years) and postmenopausal women. We conducted a prospective cross-sectional study involving 140 BCa-diagnosed women at the Breast Care Clinic of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi from November 2019 to June 2021. Thirty-one (22.1%) of participants were YPM and 109 (77.9%) were postmenopausal. The median ages for YPM and postmenopausal were 32.0 (range: 25.0-35.0) and 57.0 (48.0-86.0) respectively. Invasive carcinoma was the most common histological type (97.1%). Left tumour location was the most frequent in both groups (51.6% for YPM and 51.8% for postmenopausal). Lumps detected were frequently in the outer upper quadrant in both groups (61.3% and 56.0%). The majority of the YPM women (80.7%) and postmenopausal women (87.0%) had stage III and IV diseases. Most YPM (64.5%) and postmenopausal women (64.4%) exhibited triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Both YPM 13 (56.6%) and postmenopausal participants 40 (56.3%) exhibited a predominantly partial response to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy but YPM women (21.7%) experienced disease progression than the postmenopausal women (12.7%). The study highlights consistent tumour characteristics and advanced clinical stages at diagnosis in both groups with a higher prevalence of TNBC. TNBC and HER2+ subtypes respond better to Anthracycline-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Establishing Breast Care Clinics in district and regional hospitals for early detection is crucial and further studies are warranted to understand the higher TNBC prevalence in black Africans and re-evaluate breast education programs to address the persistently late presentations.

Abstract
PURPOSE In this study, we aimed to assess the new trends in characteristics, molecular subtypes, and imaging findings of breast cancer in very young women. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the database of a primary breast cancer referral center in southern Iran in 342 cases of 30-year-old or younger women from 2001 to 2020. Pathologic data, including nuclear subtype and grade, tumor stage, presence of in situ cancer, imaging data including lesion type in mammogram and ultrasound, and treatment data were recorded. Descriptive statistics were applied. Differences between categorical values between groups were compared using Pearson's Chi-square test. RESULTS The mean age was 27.89 years. The tumor type was invasive ductal carcinoma in 82 % of cases. Fourteen patients (4.4 %) had only in situ cancer, and 170 patients had in situ components (49.7 %). Molecular subtypes were available in 278 patients, including 117 (42.1 %) Luminal A, 64 (23.0 %) Luminal B, 58 (20.9 %) triple negative, and 39 (14 %) HER2 Enriched. In those with mammograms available, 63 (30.1 %) had no findings, 53 (25.3 %) had mass, 27 (12.9 %) had asymmetry, whether focal or global, 21 (10 %) had microcalcifications solely, and 45 (21.5 %) had more than one finding. Microcalcifications were significantly more common in Luminal cancers than HER2 and triple-negative cancers (p = 0.041). CONCLUSION Our study shows the most common subtype to be Luminal A cancer, with 74 % of the tumors being larger than 2 cm at the time of diagnosis. Irregular masses with non-circumscribed margins were the most common imaging findings.

Abstract
The natural killer (NK) cell population is unique because it consists of innate lymphocytes capable of detecting and eliminating tumors and virus-infected cells. This research aims to identify a new prognostic signal in breast cancer (BRCA) based on NK-cell-related genes (NKRGs). A variety of sequencing and gene mutation data, along with clinical information, were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Database (GEO). COX regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analyses were conducted to identify prognostic genes. In addition, the immune-related analysis was performed to evaluate the association between the immune microenvironment and clusters and risk model. The Edu assay, colony assay, wound healing assay, and transwell assay were performed to evaluate the cell proliferative and invasive abilities. A 4-NKRG-based prognostic model was constructed. Patients in high-risk groups were associated with poorer OS in TCGA and GSE42568. Further, a nomogram was constructed for better prediction of the prognosis of patients with BRCA. Finally, it was discovered that the over-expression of IFNE could suppress the proliferative and invasive abilities of BRCA cells, which might be a promising biomarker for patients with BRCA. As a result, we developed a novel 4-NKRG signal and nomogram capable of predicting the prognosis of patients with BRCA. Additionally, this model was closely associated with the immune microenvironment, which opened new therapeutic avenues for the treatment of cancer in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pachymic acid (PA) is derived from Poria cocos. PA has a variety of pharmacological and inhibitory effects on various tumors. However, the mechanism of action of PA in gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. AIM To investigate the mechanism of PA in treating GC via the combination of network pharmacology and experimental verification. METHODS The GeneCards and OMIM databases were used to derive the GC targets, while the Pharm Mapper database provided the PA targets. Utilizing the STRING database, a protein-protein interaction network was constructed and core targets were screened. The analyses of Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and gene set enrichment analysis were conducted, and molecular docking and clinical correlation analyses were performed on the core targets. Ultimately, the network pharmacology findings were validated through in vitro cell assays, encompassing assessments of cell viability, apoptosis, cell cycle, cloning, and western blot analysis. RESULTS According to network pharmacology analysis, the core targets were screened, and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway is likely to be the mechanism by which PA effectively treats GC, according to KEGG enrichment analysis. The experimental findings showed that PA could control PI3K/AKT signaling to prevent GC cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, and pause the cell cycle. CONCLUSION Network pharmacology demonstrated that PA could treat GC by controlling a variety of signaling pathways and acting on a variety of targets. This has also been supported by in vitro cell studies, which serve as benchmarks for further research.

Abstract
Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) presents a significant challenge in oncology due to its aggressive behavior and limited therapeutic options. This review explores the potential of immunotherapy, particularly vaccine-based approaches, in addressing TNBC. It delves into the role of immunoinformatics in creating effective vaccines against TNBC. The review first underscores the distinct attributes of TNBC and the importance of tumor antigens in vaccine development. It then elaborates on antigen detection techniques such as exome sequencing, HLA typing, and RNA sequencing, which are instrumental in identifying TNBC-specific antigens and selecting vaccine candidates. The discussion then shifts to the in-silico vaccine development process, encompassing antigen selection, epitope prediction, and rational vaccine design. This process merges computational simulations with immunological insights. The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in expediting the prediction of antigens and epitopes is also emphasized. The review concludes by encapsulating how Immunoinformatics can augment the design of TNBC vaccines, integrating tumor antigens, advanced detection methods, in-silico strategies, and AI-driven insights to advance TNBC immunotherapy. This could potentially pave the way for more targeted and efficacious treatments.

Abstract
Multiple Myeloma (MM) is the second most prevalent hematologic malignancy, and its incidence has been increasing enormously in recent years. The prognosis of MM has changed radically with the introduction of new drugs that have improved life expectancy; recurrences are a common occurrence during the course of the disease and are characterized by an increase in refractory to treatment. Moreover, MM patients are challenged by quality of life-related concerns while limited conventional therapy may be offered. This includes bone pain and dialysis due to the complications of acute renal failure. We, therefore, believe that it is very important to add new treatment modalities, including supplements, nutritional modifications, acupuncture, and mind-body therapies, with the goal of improving treatment tolerance, effectiveness, and patients' quality of life. Moreover, many patients use some of these supplements on their own, in the hope of reducing the side effects, so it is even more important to know their action and potential. The purpose of this review is to illustrate all these strategies potentially available to enrich our approach to this, to date, incurable disease.

Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) has become the fifth most prevalent cause of cancer-related morbidity, attracting significant attention from researchers due to its heightened malignancy and drug resistance. Conventional chemotherapy approaches have proven inadequate in addressing all BC subtypes, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapeutic approaches or drugs. Curcumin (CUR), a phytochemical derived from Curcuma longa (turmeric), has shown substantial potential in inhibiting BC cell migration, metastasis, and proliferation. However, the use of CUR in this context comes with challenges due to its dynamic and easily degradable nature, poor aqueous solubility, low bioavailability, rapid metabolism, and swift systemic elimination, collectively limiting its clinical applications. As such, we provide an overview of the properties, synthesis, and characterization of the hybridization of CUR and its analogue with chemo-drug building blocks. We reviewed research from the last five years on CUR's biogenesis with respect to the regulation of BC, revealing that CUR participates in arresting BC cells in the cell cycle and significantly induces apoptosis in BC cells. Information on the chemotherapeutic and antitumor mechanisms of CUR in BC, including regulation of the cell cycle, increased cell apoptosis, and inhibition of multidrug resistance (MDR), was compiled. Additionally, we provide an overview of CUR loaded into nanomaterials that are cotreated with other chemotherapeutic drugs, such as paclitaxel, thymoquinone, and tamoxifen. In this review, we discuss different types of nanoparticles that can be used for CUR delivery, such as polymeric nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, and liposomes. By comparing the size, entrapment efficiency, drug-loading capacity, release time, biocompatibility, pharmaceutical scale, and reproducibility of various nanomaterials, we aimed to determine which formulations are better suited for loading CUR or its analogue. Ultimately, this review is expected to offer inspiring ideas, promising strategies, and potential pathways for developing advanced anti-BC strategy nanosystems in clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A growing body of researches indicate that the disrupted expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is linked to a range of human disorders. Therefore, the effective prediction of lncRNA-disease association (LDA) can not only suggest solutions to diagnose a condition but also save significant time and labor costs. METHOD In this work, we proposed a novel LDA predicting algorithm based on graph convolutional network and transformer, named GCNFORMER. Firstly, we integrated the intraclass similarity and interclass connections between miRNAs, lncRNAs and diseases, and built a graph adjacency matrix. Secondly, to completely obtain the features between various nodes, we employed a graph convolutional network for feature extraction. Finally, to obtain the global dependencies between inputs and outputs, we used a transformer encoder with a multiheaded attention mechanism to forecast lncRNA-disease associations. RESULTS The results of fivefold cross-validation experiment on the public dataset revealed that the AUC and AUPR of GCNFORMER achieved 0.9739 and 0.9812, respectively. We compared GCNFORMER with six advanced LDA prediction models, and the results indicated its superiority over the other six models. Furthermore, GCNFORMER's effectiveness in predicting potential LDAs is underscored by case studies on breast cancer, colon cancer and lung cancer. CONCLUSIONS The combination of graph convolutional network and transformer can effectively improve the performance of LDA prediction model and promote the in-depth development of this research filed.

Abstract
Curcumin is a natural compound derived from turmeric and can target malignant tumor molecules involved in cancer propagation. It has potent antioxidant activity, but its effectiveness is limited due to poor absorption and rapid elimination from the body. Various curcumin derivatives have also shown anticancer potential in in-vitro and in-vivo models. Curcumin can target multiple signaling pathways involved in cancer development/progression or induce cancer cell death through apoptosis. In addition, curcumin and its derivatives could also enhance the effectiveness of conventional chemotherapy, radiation therapy and reduce their associated side effects. Lately, nanoparticle-based delivery systems are being developed/explored to overcome the challenges associated with curcumin's delivery, increasing its overall efficacy. The use of an imaging system to track these formulations could also give beneficial information about the bioavailability and distribution of the nano-curcumin complex. In conclusion, curcumin holds significant promise in the fight against cancer, especially in its nanoform, and could provide precise delivery to cancer cells without affecting normal healthy cells.

Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common type of malignancy globally and the main reason why women die from tumours. The Warburg effect, a characteristic of tumor, describes how most solid tumour cells acclimatize to their diverse surroundings by relying heavily on aerobic glycolysis for production of energy. In addition to producing key metabolic intermediates that are crucial for the production of macromolecules, which enable cancer cell division, invasiveness, and drug resistance, the transformed energy metabolism also supplies tumor cells with ATP for cellular energy. Here, we evaluated the expression profile, prognostic significance, and clinical relevance of glucose-related genes in BC using a bioinformatic approach. To clarify the significance of glucose-related genes in the development of breast tumours, we also performed a functional enrichment investigation of deregulated genes using the STRING and KEGG portal. The study depicted that of the 61 genes examined, 8 genes had a fold change =± 1.5, that is, ADH1C, ADH4, ALDH1A3, ALDOC, FBP1, PCK1, PFKFB1, PFKFB3. Among the highly deregulated genes, ADH1C showed a fold change of -6.669. These deregulated genes were associated with poor prognosis. The study signifies that glucose related genes are highly dysregulated in breast cancer. Deregulation of glucose related genes is linked with a poor prognosis in BC individuals. Thus, targeting glucose related genes will provide an effective treatment approach for BC individuals.

Abstract
5-Hydroxy-3',4',6,7-tetramethoxyflavone (TMF) is a plant-origin flavone known for its anti-cancer properties. In the present study, the cytotoxic effect of TMF was evaluated in the U87MG and T98G glioblastoma (GBM) cell lines. The effect of TMF on cell viability was assessed with trypan blue exclusion assay and crystal violet staining. In addition, flow cytometry was performed to examine its effect on the different phases of the cell cycle, and in vitro scratch wound assay assessed the migratory capacity of the treated cells. Furthermore, the effect of in vitro radiotherapy was also evaluated with a combination of TMF and radiation. In both cell lines, TMF treatment resulted in G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, reduced cell viability, and reduced cell migratory capacity. In contrast, there was an antagonistic property of TMF treatment with radiotherapy. These results demonstrated the antineoplastic effect of TMF in GBM cells in vitro, but the antagonistic effect with radiotherapy indicated that TMF should be further evaluated for its possible antitumor role post-radiotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dengue is one of the most common diseases in the tropics and subtropics. Whilst mortality is a rare event when adequate supportive care can be provided, a large number of patients get hospitalised with dengue every year that places a heavy burden on local health systems. A better understanding of the support required at the time of hospitalisation is therefore of critical importance for healthcare planning, especially when resources are limited during major outbreaks. METHODS Here we performed a retrospective analysis of clinical data from over 1500 individuals hospitalised with dengue in Vietnam between 2017 and 2019. Using a broad panel of potential biomarkers, we sought to evaluate robust predictors of prolonged hospitalisation periods. RESULTS Our analyses revealed a lead-time bias, whereby early admission to hospital correlates with longer hospital stays - irrespective of disease severity. Importantly, taking into account the symptom duration prior to hospitalisation significantly affects observed associations between hospitalisation length and previously reported risk markers of prolonged stays, which themselves showed marked inter-annual variations. Once corrected for symptom duration, age, temperature at admission and elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were found predictive of longer hospitalisation periods. CONCLUSION This study demonstrates that the time since dengue symptom onset is one of the most significant predictors for the length of hospital stays, independent of the assigned severity score. Pre-hospital symptom durations need to be accounted for to evaluate clinically relevant biomarkers of dengue hospitalisation trajectories.

Abstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are a significant cause of mortality in developed countries. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is currently the leading treatment method for AAAs. Due to the high sensitivity and specificity of post-EVAR complication detection, CT angiography (CTA) is the reference method for imaging surveillance in patients after EVAR. Many studies have shown the advantages of dual-energy CT (DECT) over standard polyenergetic CTA in vascular applications. In this article, the authors briefly discuss the technical principles and summarize the current body of literature regarding dual-energy computed tomography angiography (DECTA) in patients after EVAR. The authors point out the most useful applications of DECTA in this group of patients and its advantages over conventional CTA. To conduct this review, a search was performed using the PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer is the most widespread cancer in women and young women worldwide. Moving towards customised radiotherapy, balancing the use of the available technology with the best treatment modality may not be an easy task in the daily routine. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of introducing IQ-feasibility into clinical practice to support the decision of free-breathing (FB) versus breath-hold (BH) left-sided breast irradiations, in order to optimise the technology available and the effectiveness of the treatment. METHODS Thirty-five patients who received 3D radiotherapy treatment of the left breast in deep-inspiration BH were included in this retrospective study. Computed tomography scans in FB and BH were acquired for each patient; targets contoured in both imaging datasets by an experienced radiation oncologist, and organs at risk delineated using automatic segmentation software were exported to PlanIQ™ (Sun Nuclear Corp.) to generate feasibility dose volume histogram (FDVHs). The dosimetric parameter of BH versus FB FDVH, and BH clinical dataset versus BH FDVH were compared. RESULTS A total of 30 patients out of 35 patients analysed, presented for the BH treatments a significant reduction (p < 0.05) in the heart mean dose ([Formula: see text]), volume receiving 5 Gy ([Formula: see text]) and 20 Gy ([Formula: see text]), of 35.7%, 54.5%, and 2.1%, respectively; for the left lung, a lower reduction was registered and significant only for [Formula: see text] (21.4%, p = 0.046). For the remaining five patients, the FDVH cut-off points of heart and lung were superimposable with differences of less than 1%. Heart and left lung dosimetric parameters of the BH clinical plans are located in the difficult zone of the FDVH and differ significantly (p < 0.05) from the corresponding parameters of the FDVH curves delimiting this buffer area between the impossible and feasible zones, respectively. CONCLUSION The use of PlanIQTM as a decision-support tool for the FB versus BH treatment delivery modality allows customisation of the treatment technique using the most appropriate technology for each patient enabling accurate management of available technologies.

Abstract
To develop and validate the predictive effects of stable ferroptosis- and pyroptosis-related features on the prognosis and immune status of breast cancer (BC). We retrieved as well as downloaded ferroptosis- and pyroptosis-related genes from the FerrDb and GeneCards databases. The minimum absolute contraction and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) was used to construct a prognostic classifier combining the above two types of prognostic genes with differential expression, and the Integrated Gene Expression (GEO) dataset was used for validation. Seventeen genes presented a close association with BC prognosis. Thirteen key prognostic genes with prognostic value were considered to construct a new expression signature for classifying patients with BC into high- and low-risk groups. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed a worse prognosis in the high-risk group. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and multivariate Cox regression analysis identified its predictive and independent features. Immune profile analysis showed that immunosuppressive cells were upregulated in the high-risk group, and this risk model was related to immunosuppressive molecules. We successfully constructed combined features of ferroptosis and pyroptosis in BC that are closely related to prognosis, clinicopathological and immune features, chemotherapy efficacy and immunosuppressive molecules. However, further experimental studies are required to verify these findings.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the primary factor contributing to female mortality worldwide. The incidence has overtaken lung cancer. It is the most difficult illness due to its heterogeneity and is made up of several subtypes, including Luminal A and B, basal-like, Her-2 overexpressed and TNBC. Amongst different breast carcinoma subtypes, TNBC is the most deadly breast cancer subtype. The hostile nature of TNBC is mainly attributed to its lack of three hormonal receptors and hence lack of targeted therapy. Furthermore, the current diagnostic options like radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy render unsuccessful due to recurrence, treatment side effects and drug resistance. The majority of anticancer drugs come from natural sources or is developed from them, making nature a significant source of many medicines. Marine-based constituents such as nucleotides, proteins, peptides, and amides are receiving a lot of interest in the field of cancer treatment due to their bioactive properties. The role of stypoldione in this study as a prospective treatment for breast carcinoma was examined, and we sought to comprehend the molecular means/pathways this chemical employs in breast carcinoma. The most promising possibility for an anti-cancer treatment is stypoldione, a marine chemical produced from the brown alga Stypopodium zonale. We investigated stypoldione's mode of action in breast cancer using the network pharmacology method, and we confirmed our research by using a number of computational tools, including UALCAN, cBioportal, TIMER, docking, and simulation. The findings revealed 92 common targets between the chemical and breast cancer target network. Additionally, we found that stypoldione targets a number of unregulated genes in breast cancer, including: ESR1, HSP90AA1, CXCL8, PTGS2, APP, MDM2, JAK2, KDR, LCK, GRM5, MAPK14, KIT, and several signaling pathways such as FOXO signaling pathway, VEGF pathway, calcium signaling pathway, MAPK/ERK pathway and Neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction. The examined medication demonstrated a strong affinity for the major targets, according to a docking analysis. The best hit compound produced a stable protein-ligand pair, as predicted by molecular dynamics simulations. Our results are supported by the fact that when in-vitro assays were done on melanoma using stypoldione compound it was found that its mechanisms of action involved the PI3K/mTOR/Akt and NF-kB pathways. This study was set out to inspect the possible value of stypoldione as a breast cancer cure and to get a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms by which this drug acts on breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To calculate and analyze the mortality rates from breast cancer in women under 50 years of age in Colombia and to compare them with those of other countries in the region. METHODS Based on data from the registry of deaths in 2018 and the results of the National Population and Housing Census of Colombia for the same year, specific mortality rates in women with breast cancer, specific mortality according to age group, standardized by age, proportional mortality, potential years of life lost, and years of life expectancy lost in women under 50 years of age who died from breast cancer were calculated. The mortality rate of regional countries was consulted on the Global Cancer Observatory webpage. RESULTS In the group from 20 to 49 years, the specific mortality rate was higher in the age range from 45 to 49 years, with a rate of 23.42 × 100,000, a value that was above the specific mortality rate due to breast cancer in women in Colombia, 15.17 × 100.000. In the age range of 45 to 49 years, the potential years of life lost were 42.16. Of the 0.275 years of life expectancy lost by the population due to this neoplasia, women under 50 years of age represented 0.091 (33%). Colombia is the fifth in the rank of mortality in Latin American countries in this age group. CONCLUSION Breast cancer in patients from 30 to 59 years is the number one cause for the decrease in life expectancy of women in Colombia. Women under 50 years of age represent one third of this decrease. This neoplasm is also the leading cause of mortality in women younger than 50 years in South America.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the impact of light at night (LAN) exposure on the risk of breast cancer across varying factors. Method We conducted a systematic search of literature up to July 15, 2023, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases, using keywords related to breast cancer and LAN exposure. Cohort study and case-control study literature on night light exposure and breast cancer risk were included. Statistical analyses were performed using Stata software version 17.0. To address heterogeneity among different studies, we employed a random-effects model for analysis and assessed publication bias using funnel plots and Egger's test. Results We included 13 case-control and 8 cohort studies with 734,372 participants worldwide. In the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) assessments, the average score was 7.43 (ranging from 5 to 9). The overall meta-analysis demonstrated a significant association between exposure to LAN and risk of breast cancer (RR = 1.12; 95% CI: 1.06-1.17; I2 = 31.3%, p < 0.001). In the subgroup analysis, the results of the analysis for study types (case-control studies: RR = 1.16; 95% CI: 1.06-1.27; I2 = 40.4%, p = 0.001; cohort studies: RR = 1.08; 95% CI: 1.04-1.14; I2 = 0.0%, p < 0.001) and the results for light exposure types (outdoor LAN: RR = 1.07; 95% CI: 1.02-1.13; I2 = 30.9%, p = 0.004) are presented. In the analysis conducted for continents, the highest breast cancer risk was observed in the Asian population (Asian: RR = 1.24; 95% CI: 1.15-1.34; I2 = 0.0%, p < 0.001) and in the analysis of estrogen receptor status (ER+: RR = 1.10; 95% CI: 1.03-1.18; I2 = 17.0%, p = 0.005;). We also conducted an analysis on menopausal status and various lifestyles but did not find any statistically significant findings. Conclusion Our study demonstrates that LAN exposure is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, particularly in the Asian population. Among the existing hypotheses, the idea that LAN exposure leads to a decrease in melatonin is widely accepted. However, until the mechanism of this effect is clearly elucidated, it is not recommended to take melatonin supplements for breast cancer prevention without medical advice. We hope to conduct more high-quality research, especially concerning the investigation of other environmental confounding factors, to further advance this field.
