Abstract
Herein, a facile synthesis of intricate fused N-heterocycles is disclosed by employing C-H activation and ring-rearrangement metathesis/enyne ring-rearrangement metathesis as key steps. Interestingly, some of these N-heterocyclic products possess the tricyclic core of epimeloscine, deoxycalyciphylline B, daphlongamine H, isodaphlongamine H, and a bioactive alkaloid, annotinolide A, which shows antiaggregation activity against amyloid-β (Aβ)1-42 peptide aggregation. Moreover, various starting materials required in this protocol are easily assembled via C-X bond annulation of 2-bromo-N-protected aniline with norbornadiene or directing group-assisted ruthenium-catalyzed C-H activation of N-methoxybenzamide.

Abstract
The first example of Pd-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of allyltosylamides with acetic acid is reported. This transformation involved C-N/C-C bond formation and provided 3-pyrrolin-2-ones in a one-pot manner with easy-operation, excellent atom economy and good yields. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction proceeds through intermolecular aminopalladation, migratory insertion, reinsertion and β-hydride elimination processes.

Abstract
An intermolecular dehydrogenative annulation (IDA) for carbazole synthesis via sequential C-C/C-N bond formation with a selective alkyl group migration is reported. Using the hypervalent iodine(III) reagent PhI(OAc)2 (PIDA), in a one-pot operation, up to five C(sp2)-H bonds, one N(sp3)-H bond functionalization, and one alkyl (Me, Et) group migration could all be achieved from non-prefunctionalized 1,3,5-trialkylbenzenes and anilides under ambient laboratory conditions. Mechanistically, it is shown that PIDA reacts with anilides to generate a nitrenium ion or an equivalent carbenium ion which influences the second aromatic ring to be activated for C-C/C-N bond formation. Strategically, regioselective fusion of arenes to anilides is described.

Abstract
A novel [3+2] cycloaddition between a variety of cyclic ketones and diverse olefins or alkynes can be effectively promoted by copper in combination with the tri-tert-butylphosphine [P(tBu)3 ] ligand. This protocol exhibits excellent selectivity and provides an exemplary set of fused heterocycles in good to excellent yields. Present strategy also represents an extremely simple and atom-economic way to construct substituted fused furans and naphthofurans from readily available starting materials under mild reaction conditions. The utility of the method is further demonstrated by the synthesis of chiral furans from (R)-(-)-carvone and (S)-(+)-carvone. A plausible mechanism involving the oxidative radical cyclization has been suggested based on experimental observations.

Abstract
2-Alkenylphenols react with allenes, upon treatment with catalytic amounts of Pd(II) and Cu(II), to give benzoxepine products in high yields and with very good regio- and diastereoselectivities. This contrasts with the results obtained with Rh catalysts, which provided chromene-like products through a pathway involving a β-hydrogen elimination step. Computational studies suggest that the square planar geometry of the palladium is critical to favor the reductive elimination process required for the formation of the oxepine products.

Abstract
The unique regioselectivity and reactivity of cobalt(III) in the direct cyclization of N-nitrosoanilines with alkynes for the expedient synthesis of N-substituted indoles is demonstrated. In the presence of a cobalt(III) catalyst, high regioselectivity was observed when using unsymmetrical meta-substituted N-nitrosoanilines. Moreover, internal alkynes bearing electron-deficient groups, which are almost unreactive in the [Cp*Rh(III)]-catalyzed system, display good reactivity in this transformation.

Abstract
Development of multicatalytic approach consisting of two or more mechanistically distinct catalytic steps using a single-site catalyst for rapid and straightforward access of structurally complex molecules under eco-benign conditions has significance in contemporary science. We have developed herein a rhodium-catalysed C-H activation strategy which uses an unprotected anilines and an electron-deficient alkynes to C-C bonded products as a potential intermediate in contrast to the archetypical C-N bonded products with high levels of regioselectivity. This is followed by carbonylation of C-H bond activated intermediate and subsequent annulation into quinolines has been described. This rhodium-catalysed auto-tandem reaction operates under mild, environmentally benign conditions using water as the solvent and CO surrogates as the carbonyl source with the concomitant generation of hydrogen gas. The strategy may facilitate the development of new synthetic protocols for the efficient and sustainable production of chemicals in an atom-economic way from simple, abundant starting materials.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed CH activation strategy has been successfully employed for exclusive synthesis of a variety of 3-substituted indoles. A [3+3] annulation for synthesizing substituted 2-quinolinones was recently developed by reaction of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids with diarylamines under acidic conditions. In the present work, an analogous [3+2] annulation is achieved from the same set of starting materials under basic conditions to generate 1,3-disubstituted indoles exclusively. Mechanistic studies revealed an ortho-palladation-π-coordination-β-migratory insertion-β-hydride elimination reaction sequence to be operative under the reaction conditions.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed 1,2-carboamination through C-H activation at room temperature is reported for the synthesis of 2-arylindoles, and indolines from readily available, inexpensive aryl ureas and vinyl arenes. The reaction initiates with a urea-directed electrophilic ortho palladation, alkene insertion, and β-hydride elimination sequences to provide the Fujiwara-Moritani arylation product. Subsequently, aza-Wacker cyclization, and β-hydride elimination provide the 2-arylindoles in high yields. Intercepting the common σ-alkyl-Pd intermediate, corresponding indolines are also achieved. The indoline formation is attributed to the generation of stabilized, cationic π-benzyl-Pd species to suppress β-hydride elimination.
