Abstract
Deprotonation of ligand-appended alkoxyl groups in mononuclear copper(II) complexes of N,O ligands L1 and L2 , gave dinuclear complexes sharing symmetrical Cu2 O2 cores. Molecular structures of these mono- and binuclear complexes have been characterized by XRD, and their electronic structures by UV/Vis, 1 H NMR, EPR and DFT; moreover, catalytic performance as models of catechol oxidase was studied. The binuclear complexes with anti-ferromagnetically coupled copper(II) centers are moderately active in quinone formation from 3,5-di-tert-butyl-catechol under the established conditions of oxygen saturation, but are strongly activated when additional dioxygen is administered during catalytic turnover. This unforeseen and unprecedented effect is attributed to increased maximum reaction rates vmax , whereas the substrate affinity KM remains unaffected. Oxygen administration is capable of (partially) removing limitations to turnover caused by product inhibition. Because product inhibition is generally accepted to be a major limitation of catechol oxidase models, we think that our observations will be applicable more widely.

Abstract
One Mn(II) coordination polymer, [Mn(o-(NO2)C6H4COO)2(pyz)(H2O)]n (1), has been synthesized and oxidized with n-Bu4NMnO4 in non-aqueous media to two mixed-valence hexanuclear Mn(II/III) complexes [MnIII2MnII4O2(pyz)0.61/(MeOH)0.39(o-(NO2)C6H4COO)10·(H2O)·{(CH3)2CO}2]·(CH3)2CO (2) and [MnIII2MnII4O2(pyz)0.28/(MeCN)3.72(o-(NO2)C6H4COO)10·(H2O)] (3) (where pyz = pyrazine). All three complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, and variable-temperature magnetic measurements. The structural analyses reveal that complex 1 is comprised of linear chains of pyz bridged Mn(II), which are further linked to one another by syn–anti carboxylate bridges, giving rise to a two-dimensional (2D) net. Complexes 2 and 3 feature mixed valence [MnIII2MnII4] units in which each of the six manganese centres reside in an octahedral environment. Apart from the variations in terminal ligands (acetone for 2 and acetonitrile for 3), the complexes are very similar. Using 3,5-di-tert-butyl catechol (3,5-DTBC) as the substrate, the catecholase-like activity of the complexes has been studied and it is found that the mixed valent Mn6 complexes (2 and 3) are much more active towards aerial oxidation of catechol compared to the Mn(II) complex (1). Variable-temperature (1.8–300 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements showed the presence of antiferromagnetic coupling in all three complexes. The magnetic data have been fitted with a 2D quadratic model derived by Lines, giving the exchange constant J/kB = −0.0788(5) K for 1. For 2 and 3, antiferromagnetic interactions within the Mn6 cluster have been fitted with models containing three exchange constants: JA/kB = −70 K, JB/kB = −0.5 K, JC/kB = −2.9 K for 2 and JA/kB = −60 K, JB/kB = −0.3 K, JC/kB = −2.8 K for 3.

Abstract
The two alkoxo bridged complexes [Cu2(L1)2(HL2)2(H2O)](NO3)2·2H2O 1 and [Cu2(L1)2(HL2)2](NO3)2·H2O 2 have been synthesized by metal assisted hydrolysis with two Schiff bases, where L1 is 2-benzoylpyridine and HL2 is phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methanediol.

Abstract
A polydentate tripodal ligand forms a series of tricopper(ii) complexes, that feature unique pyrazolate-bridged linear core. The Cu3H−3L2 complex is an efficient catecholase mimic with a surprisingly low pH optimum at pH = 5.6.

Abstract
An asymmetric, potentially bidentate dioxime ligand (H₂L) was formed by condensation of 4-biphenylchloroglyoxime and napthyl-1-amine. Two equivalents of H₂L were reacted with CoCl₂ · 6H₂O under appropriate conditions with deprotonation of the dioxime ligand. A series of new organocobaloxime derivatives of the type [CoR(HL)₂Py], [CoRL₂PyB₂F₄], and [CoRL₂Py(Cu(phen))₂] (H₂L = 4-(napthyl-1-amino)biphenylglyoxime; phen = 1,10-phenathroline; R = izopropyl and benzyl; Py = pyridine) were synthesized. The products were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, FT-IR, ¹H NMR, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Catecholase-like activity properties of all complexes were also studied. All complexes are catalysts for the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol to 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2-benzoquinone in methanol. Antimicrobial activity studies of H₂L and the six complexes were carried out on standard strains (human pathogenic) of bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), Bacillus cereus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudominas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi) and the yeast Candida albicans. The compounds showed a significant inhibition of the growth of the Gram-positive bacteria tested. Among the tested microorganisms, S. aureus was the most sensitive strain, especially to H₂L and its complexes.
