Abstract
We have used experimental studies and DFT calculations to investigate the IrIII -catalyzed isomerization of allylic alcohols into carbonyl compounds, and the regiospecific isomerization-chlorination of allylic alcohols into α-chlorinated carbonyl compounds. The mechanism involves a hydride elimination followed by a migratory insertion step that may take place at Cβ but also at Cα with a small energy-barrier difference of 1.8 kcal mol-1 . After a protonation step, calculations show that the final tautomerization can take place both at the Ir center and outside the catalytic cycle. For the isomerization-chlorination reaction, calculations show that the chlorination step takes place outside the cycle with an energy barrier much lower than that for the tautomerization to yield the saturated ketone. All the energies in the proposed mechanism are plausible, and the cycle accounts for the experimental observations.

Abstract
Photoredox-catalyzed isomerization of γ-carbonyl-substituted allylic alcohols to their corresponding carbonyl compounds was achieved for the first time by C-H bond activation. This catalytic redox-neutral process resulted in the synthesis of 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds. Notably, allylic alcohols bearing tetrasubstituted olefins can also be transformed into their corresponding carbonyl compounds. Density functional theory calculations show that the carbonyl group at the γ-position of allylic alcohols are beneficial to the formation of their corresponding allylic alcohol radicals with high vertical electron affinity, which contributes to the completion of the photoredox catalytic cycle.

Abstract
A regioselective protocol for the synthesis of substituted allylic chlorides, bromides, and fluorides has been established. Remarkably, the method can be applied to the enantioselective synthesis of challenging chiral allylic chlorides. When the allylic halides are treated with the base triazabicyclodecene as the catalyst, a [1,3]-proton shift takes place, giving the corresponding vinyl halides in excellent yields with excellent Z:E ratios. Furthermore, the [1,3]-proton shift takes place with an outstanding level of chirality transfer from chiral allylic alcohols (≤98%) to give chiral trifluoromethylated vinyl chlorides.

Abstract
Here, we describe one simple Ir/hydrosilane catalytic system for chemoselective isomerization of 2-substituted allylic ethers. This facile strategy shows high efficiency towards a variety of substrates, including derivatives from bioactive molecules. The substituent at the α position of the olefins is supposed to be critical in retarding the alkene hydrosilylation process and leading the reaction to go through the isomerization pathway.

Abstract
A one-pot iron-catalyzed conversion of allylic alcohols to α-methyl ketones has been developed. This isomerization-methylation strategy utilized a (cyclopentadienone)iron(0) carbonyl complex as precatalyst and methanol as the C1 source. A diverse range of allylic alcohols undergoes isomerization-methylation to form α-methyl ketones in good isolated yields (up to 84% isolated yield).

Abstract
Direct conversion of aldehydes to ketones is achieved via rhodium-catalyzed vinyl triflate-aldehyde reductive coupling-redox isomerization mediated by potassium formate. This method circumvents premetalated C-nucleophiles and discrete redox manipulations typically required to form ketones from aldehydes.

Abstract
Chiral α-sulfenylated ketones are versatile building blocks, although there are still several limitations with their preparation. Here we report a new two-step procedure, consisting of Pd-catalyzed hydrothiolation of propargylic alcohols followed by an enantioselective Rh isomerization of allylic alcohols. The isomerization reaction is the key step for obtaining the ketones in their enantioenriched form. The new methodology has a high atom economy and induces good to high levels of enantioselectivity; no waste is produced. A mechanism involving a Rh-hydride-enone intermediate is proposed for the isomerization reaction.

Abstract
A step-economic biomimetic synthesis of mitchellenes B-H found in Eremophila sturtii has been achieved. Starting from the putative muurolane biological precursor, redox isomerization of the allylic alcohol gave an epimeric mixture of aldehydes, which could be used as a handle for cyclization onto the C6 position, using Bu3SnH-mediated radical cyclization or NHC-catalyzed Stetter reaction. The NHC-mediated approach was superior as the epimeric mixture underwent a dynamic kinetic resolution during the reaction, and reduction of the mixture with NaBH4 selectively formed the mitchellene ring system in 56% yield for the three steps. In the campaign to obtain the acid-starting material, two new natural products, mitchellene H and a muurolane aldehyde, were isolated. Synthetic procedures to access this family of natural products will enable further studies on their biological properties.

Abstract
A regioselective and enantioselective palladium-catalyzed relay Heck alkenylation of alkenylbenzene derivatives to construct remote stereocenters is disclosed.
A regioselective and enantioselective palladium-catalyzed relay Heck alkenylation of alkenylbenzene derivatives to construct remote stereocenters is disclosed. Various β-substituted styrenes were readily obtained in moderate yields with good to excellent levels of enantioselectivity. This strategy provides rapid access to enantioenriched δ, ε, ζ, and η-alkenyl aryl compounds from simple starting materials. Mechanistic studies suggest that termination of the relay reaction is controlled by affinity of the arene for the Pd complex during migration.

Abstract
Catalytic isomerization of allylic alcohols in ethanol as a green solvent was achieved by using air and moisture stable cobalt (II) complexes in the absence of any additives. Under mild conditions, the cobalt PNP pincer complex substituted with phenyl groups on the phosphorus atoms appeared to be the most active. High rates were obtained at 120 °C, even though the addition of one equivalent of base increases the speed of the reaction drastically. Although some evidence was obtained supporting a dehydrogenation-hydrogenation mechanism, it was proven that this is not the major mechanism. Instead, the cobalt hydride complex formed by dehydrogenation of ethanol is capable of double-bond isomerization through alkene insertion-elimination.

Abstract
A regiodivergent catalytic method for direct conversion of aldehydes to branched or linear alkyl ketones is described. Rhodium complexes modified by P tBu2Me catalyze formate-mediated aldehyde-vinyl bromide reductive coupling-redox isomerization to form branched ketones. Use of the less strongly coordinating ligand, PPh3, promotes vinyl- to allylrhodium isomerization en route to linear ketones. This method bypasses the 3-step sequence often used to convert aldehydes to ketones involving the addition of pre-metalated reagents to Weinreb or morpholine amides.

Abstract
Redox isomerization reaction wherein N-alkylpropargylamines are converted into N-alkylideneallylamines in the presence of rhenium(I) complexes as catalysts is described. Among the additives tested, certain pyridine N-oxides and tertiary amine N-oxides were effective for the reaction to proceed, and in particular, the use of 2,6-lutidine N-oxides gave the best results. The choice of a diphenylmethyl group as a substituent on the nitrogen atom was key to the success of the reaction, allowing it to reach completion.

Abstract
The operationally simple palladium-catalyzed double-bond migration without heteroatom-containing coordinating functional groups is described. Addition of TaCl5 as a second catalyst greatly enhanced the migration efficiency to provide β-alkylstyrenes through migration of up to a five-carbon chain. Both catalysts were commercially available, and the reaction occurred without external ligands under neutral conditions. The reaction proceeded via generation of π-allyl palladium species, which enabled the chemoselective double-bond migration of hydrocarbons in the presence of allylethers. Remote functionalization through double-bond migration was also demonstrated using FeCl3 as a second catalyst.

Abstract
The catalytic activities of [RuClCp(PTA)2] (1) and [RuCp(PTA)2(H2O-κO)]OTf (2) were assessed for the redox isomerization of the cyclic allylic alcohol 2-cyclohexenol into cyclohexanone in water and biphasic media. Complex 2 showed unprecedented good TONs for the studied conversion both in water (TON = 647) and in the biphase of cyclohexene/H2O (TON = 3420) while 1 showed a lower but also good activity (water TON = 95, biphasic TON = 100). The catalytic reaction intermediate [RuCp(PTA)2(η2-C6H9OH)]CF3SO3 (3) was synthesized and characterized using NMR.

Abstract
We report successful utilization of sequential alkene isomerization and ring-closing metathesis of dec-9-enoic acid based dienes in synthesis of macrocyclic lactones that possess a strong scent of musk. This catalytic sequence was essential to trim the chain length of starting dienes to yield macrocycles of the right size. Dec-9-enoic acid is conveniently obtainable from oleic esters by Ru-catalysed ethenolysis.

Abstract
Crabtree's catalyst was encapsulated inside the pores of the sulfonated MIL-101(Cr) metal-organic framework (MOF) by cation exchange. This hybrid catalyst is active for the heterogeneous hydrogenation of non-functionalized alkenes either in solution or in the gas phase. Moreover, encapsulation inside a well-defined hydrophilic microenvironment enhances catalyst stability and selectivity to hydrogenation over isomerization for substrates bearing ligating functionalities. Accordingly, the encapsulated catalyst significantly outperforms its homogeneous counterpart in the hydrogenation of olefinic alcohols in terms of overall conversion and selectivity, with the chemical microenvironment of the MOF host favouring one out of two competing reaction pathways.
