Abstract
Chiral nonracemic aminated nitroso acetals were synthesized via diastereoselective multicomponent [4 + 2]/[3 + 2] cycloadditions employing new (S,E)-γ-nitrogenated nitroalkenes 5a–c as heterodienes, ethyl vinyl ether (EVE) as a dienophile, and selected electron-deficient alkenes as 1,3-dipolarophiles. The employment of different organic solutions of LiClO4 or LiCl as promoter systems provided the respective nitroso acetals with yields from 34–72% and good levels of diastereoselectivity. In addition, the nitroso acetal 9c was transformed to the pyrrolizidin-3-one derivative 14c, proving the usefulness of the route in the synthesis of an interesting chiral compound. The elucidation of the stereostructures was based on 2D COSY, NOESY and HSQC NMR experiments as well as an X-ray diffraction experiment.

Abstract
CaCl(2) is applied as an efficient reusable and eco-friendly bifunctional catalyst for the one-pot three-component synthesis of 4H-pyrans under ultrasonic irradiation. A broad range of substrates including the aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes, indoline-2,3-dione (isatin) derivatives, acenaphthylene-1,2-dione (acenaphthenequinone) and 2, 2-dihydroxy-2H-indene-1,3-dione (ninhydrin) were condensed with carbonyl compounds possessing a reactive α-methylene group and alkylmalonates. All reactions are completed in short times, and the products are obtained in good to excellent yields. The catalyst could be recycled and reused several times without any loss of efficiency.

Abstract
Functionalized naphthalenes are valuable building blocks in many important areas. A microwave-assisted, intramolecular dehydrogenative Diels-Alder reaction of styrenyl derivatives to provide cyclopenta[b]naphthalene substructures not previously accessible using existing synthetic methods is described. The synthetic utility of these uniquely functionalized naphthalenes was demonstrated by a single-step conversion of one of these cycloadducts to a fluorophore bearing a structural resemblance to Prodan.

Abstract
A catalyst-free one-pot four component methodology for the synthesis of 2H-indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-triones under ultrasonic irradiation at room temperature using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide, [Bmim]Br, as a neutral reaction medium is described. A broad range of structurally diverse aldehydes (aromatic aldehydes bearing electron withdrawing and/or electron releasing groups as well as heteroaromatic aldehydes) were applied successfully, and corresponding products were obtained in good to excellent yields without any byproduct.

Abstract
The basic ionic liquid (BIL) based on imidazolum cation efficiently catalyzes the condensation reaction of isatin with ketones by ultrasonic irradiation in aqueous media for quinoline synthesis. When two different α-protons are available in a ketone, a mixture of two quinolines is obtained. In this method, one of the quinolines with high selectivity is produced. Another significant advantage of this method is omission of subsidiary reactions, such as aldol condensation. Compared with conventional methods, the main advantages of the present procedure are its being a green method, its milder conditions, necessary shorter reaction time, and its higher yields and selectivity without the need for a transition metal catalyst. The use of BILs and ultrasound promoted this protocol under room temperature. By changing the type of BILs, ultrasonic irradiation time, and ultrasonic frequency, synthesis of quinolines is manageable.

Abstract
The condensation of Meldrum's acid, aromatic aldehydes, alkyl acetoacetates and ammonium acetate in glacial acetic acid under ultrasound irradiation at room temperature results in the formation of 3,4-dihydropyridone derivatives (4a-p) in 85-96% yields. Compared with conventional methods, the main advantages of the present procedure are milder conditions, shorter reaction times and higher yields.

Abstract
AbstractThe Diels-Alder reaction between cyclopentadiene and dienophiles in deanol derivatives containing bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion as media have been studied. The effect of the substituents attached to the cation on the endo:exo selectivity as well as the reaction yield have been evaluated in the absence and presence of Lewis acid catalyst - Y(OTf)3. Abstract
Using 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C(8)MIM][PF(6)]) ionic liquid as extraction solvent, organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) (parathion, phoxim, phorate and chlorpyifos) in water were determined by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) combined with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The extraction procedure was induced by the formation of cloudy solution, which was composed of fine drops of [C(8)MIM][PF(6)] dispersed entirely into sample solution with the help of disperser solvent (methanol). Parameters including extraction solvent and its volume, disperser solvent and its volume, extraction time, centrifugal time, salt addition, extraction temperature and sample pH were investigated and optimized. Under the optimized conditions, up to 200-fold enrichment factor of analytes and acceptable extraction recovery (>70%) were obtained. The calibration curves were linear in the concentration range of 10.5-1045.0 microg L(-1) for parathion, 10.2-1020.0 microg L(-1) for phoxim, 54.5-1089.0 microg L(-1) for phorate and 27.2-1089.0 microg L(-1) for chlorpyifos, respectively. The limits of detection calculated at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 were in the range of 0.1-5.0 microg L(-1). The relative standard deviations for seven replicate experiments at 200 microg L(-1) concentration level were less than 4.7%. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of four different sources water samples (tap, well, rain and Yellow River water) and the relative recoveries of spiked water samples are 99.9-115.4%, 101.8-113.7% and 87.3-117.6% at three different concentration levels of 75, 200 and 1000 microg L(-1), respectively.

Abstract
While there has been much effort in recent years to characterise ionic liquids in terms of parameters that are well described for molecular solvents, using these to explain reaction outcomes remains problematic. Herein we propose that many reaction outcomes in ionic liquids may be explained by considering the electrostatic interactions present in the solution; that is, by recognising that ionic liquids are salts. This is supported by evidence in the literature, along with studies presented here.

Abstract
A novel strategy for synthesizing (E)-1-((3-ethyl-2,4,4-trimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene)methyl-4-substituted benzenes from 1-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-enyl)ethanol has been developed; the allylic alcohol was treated with PPh(3).HBr in methanol followed by aldehydes in the presence of a base and furnished the 1,3-dienes in moderate to good yields (79-86%).

Abstract
Addition of "inert" tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (Bu(4)NPF(6)) to a solution of TMDO/DDQ in dichloromethane (where TMDO=2,2,6,6-tetramethylbenzo[1,2-d;4,5-d]bis[1,3]-dioxole, donor, and DDQ=diclorodicyano-p-benzoquinone, acceptor) is accompanied by drastic changes in the electronic spectrum, which are related to the appearance of the DDQ(-.) and TMDO(+.) ion radicals and a decrease in the concentration of the neutral molecules and the charge-transfer complex [TMDO,DDQ]. These changes point to a considerable rise (of about three orders of magnitude) in the apparent electron-transfer equilibrium constant (K(ET)) for this donor/acceptor pair upon increasing the electrolyte concentration from 0 to 0.5 M. Accordingly, the ion-radical fractions and K(ET) values are higher in dichloromethane, at high electrolyte concentrations, than in acetonitrile (where the effect of Bu(4)NPF(6) is less pronounced). Similar trends of the apparent equilibrium constants are observed for the tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine/tetracyanoethylene pair. Electron-transfer equilibrium constants for both donor/acceptor dyads obtained from spectral measurements are related to those derived from the redox potentials of the reactants. The effects of media variations on the electron-transfer equilibria are discussed within the ion-pairing and ionic-activity frameworks.
