Abstract
peri-Disubstituted naphthalenes exhibit interesting physical properties and unique chemical reactivity, due to the parallel arrangement of the bonds to the two peri-disposed substituents. Regioselective installation of a functional group at the position peri to 1-substituted naphthalenes is challenging due to the steric interaction between the existing substituent and the position at which the second one would be installed. We report an iridium-catalyzed borylation of the C-H bond peri to a silyl group in naphthalenes and analogous polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The reaction occurs under mild conditions with wide functional group tolerance. The silyl group and the boryl group in the resulting products are precursors to a range of functional groups bound to the naphthalene ring through C-C, C-O, C-N, C-Br and C-Cl bonds.

Abstract
A diastereoselective, Pd-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of geminal bis(boryl)cyclopropanes has been developed. The reaction offers a highly modular approach to the synthesis of tertiary cyclopropylboronic esters. The resulting boronic esters may be further functionalized to afford a range of gem-disubstituted cyclopropanes, which represent an important structural motif in the pharmaceutical industry. Sequential Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of gem-bis(boryl)cyclopropanes are also reported. The coupling protocols are compatible with a broad range of functionalized aryl and heteroaryl bromides.

Abstract
We describe an unusual net [2+2] cycloaddition reaction between boron alkylidenes and unactivated alkenes. This reaction provides a new method for the construction of carbocyclic ring systems bearing versatile organoboronic esters. Aside from surveying the scope of this reaction, we provide details about the mechanistic underpinnings of this process, and examine its application to the synthesis of the natural product aphanamal.

Abstract
Organoboron compounds play an irreplaceable role in synthetic chemistry and the related transformations based on the unique reactivity of C-B bond are potentially the most efficient methods for the synthesis of organic molecules. The synthetic importance of multiboron compounds in C-C bond formation and function transformation reactions is growing and the related borations of activated or nonactivated alkenes have been developed recently. However, introducing directly two boron moieties into the terminal sites of alkenes giving 1,1-diborylalkanes in a catalytic fashion has not been explored yet. Here we describe a synthetic strategy of 1,1-diborylalkanes via a Ni-catalyzed 1,1-diboration of readily available terminal alkenes. This methodology shows high level of chemoselectivity and regioselectivity and can be used to convert a large variety of terminal alkenes, such as vinylarenes, aliphatic alkenes and lower alkenes, to 1,1-diborylalkanes.1,1-diborylalkanes are useful building blocks in synthetic chemistry. Here, the authors present a highly chemo- and regioselective Ni-catalyzed reaction for the synthesis of 1,1-diborylalkanes from a wide variety of readily available terminal alkenes.

Abstract
The first examples of stoichiometric dehydrogenative B-H/C(sp3 )-H benzylic borylation reactions, which are of relevance to catalytic methylarene (di)borylation, are reported. These unusual transformations involving a (κ2 -P,N)Pt(η3 -benzyl) complex, and either pinacolborane or catecholborane, proceed cleanly at room temperature. Density functional calculations suggest that borylation occurs via successive σ-bond metathesis steps, whereby a PtII -H intermediate engages in C(sp3 )-H bond activation-induced dehydrogenation.

Abstract
A highly diastereoselective carbon-carbon bond-forming reaction involving the tandem coupling of benzyltriboronates, enoates, and alkyl halides is described. This method was enabled by the discovery of α-diimine nickel catalysts that promote the chemoselective triborylation of benzylic C(sp3)-H bonds using B2Pin2 (Pin = pinacolate). The C-H functionalization method is effective with methylarenes and for the diborylation of secondary benzylic C-H bonds, providing direct access to polyboron building blocks from readily available hydrocarbons. Combination of the benzylic perborylation with a new deborylative conjugate addition-alkylation method enables a one-pot procedure in which multiple simple precursors are combined to generate diastereopure products containing quaternary stereocenters.

Abstract
We report the iridium-catalyzed borylation of primary and secondary alkyl C-H bonds directed by a Si-H group to form alkylboronate esters site selectively. The reactions occur with high selectivity at primary C-H bonds γ to the hydrosilyl group to form primary alkyl bisboronate esters. In the absence of such primary C-H bonds, the borylation occurs selectively at a secondary C-H bond γ to the hydrosilyl group, and these reactions of secondary C-H bonds occur with high diastereoselectivity. The hydrosilyl-containing alkyl boronate esters formed by this method undergo transformations selectively at the carbon-boron or carbon-silicon bonds of these products under distinct conditions to give the products of amination, oxidation, and arylation.

Abstract
Cobalt dialkyl and bis(carboxylate) complexes bearing α-diimine ligands have been synthesized and demonstrated as active for the C(sp(3))-H borylation of a range of substituted alkyl arenes using B2Pin2 (Pin = pinacolate) as the boron source. At longer reaction times, rare examples of polyborylation were observed, and in the case of toluene, all three benzylic C-H positions were functionalized. Coupling benzylic C-H activation with alkyl isomerization enabled a base-metal-catalyzed method for the borylation of remote, unactivated C(sp(3))-H bonds.

Abstract
We have experimentally proved the unsymmetrical 1,1-diboration of diazo compounds, formed in situ from aldehydes and cyclic and non-cyclic ketones, in the absence of any transition metal complex. The heterolytic cleavage of the mixed diboron reagent, Bpin-Bdan, and the formation of two geminal C-Bpin and C-Bdan bonds has been rationalised based on DFT calculations to occur via a concerted-asynchronous mechanism. Diastereoselection is attained on substituted cyclohexanones and DFT studies provide understanding on the origin of the selectivity. The alkoxide-assisted selective deborylation of Bpin from multisubstituted sp(3)-carbon and generation of a Bdan stabilized carbanion, easily conducts a selective protodeboronation sequence.

Abstract
Following the report on the successful use of SiNN pincer complexes of iridium as catalysts for dehydrogenative borylation of terminal alkynes (DHBTA) to alkynylboronates, this work examined a wide variety of related pincer ligands in the supporting role in DHBTA. The ligand selection included both new and previously reported ligands and was developed to explore systematic changes to the SiNN framework (the 8-(2-diisopropylsilylphenyl)aminoquinoline). Surprisingly, only the diarylamido/bis(phosphine) PNP system showed any DHBTA reactivity. The specific PNP ligand (bearing two diisopropylphosphino side donors) used in the screen showed DHBTA activity inferior to SiNN. However, taking advantage of the ligand optimization opportunities presented by the PNP system via the changes in the substitution at phosphorus led to the discovery of a catalyst whose activity, longevity, and scope far exceeded that of the original SiNN archetype. Several Ir complexes were prepared in a model PNP system and evaluated as potential intermediates in the catalytic cycle. Among them, the (PNP)Ir diboryl complex and the borylvinylidene complex were shown to be less competent in catalysis and thus likely not part of the catalytic cycle.
