Abstract
Metal-ligand interactions with various proteins form in vivo metal assemblies. In recent years, metallosupramolecular approaches have been utilized to forge an assortment of fascinating two- and three-dimensional nano-architectures, and macroscopic materials, such as metal-ligand coordination polymeric materials, have promise in artificial systems. However to the best of our knowledge, the self-assembly of macroscopic materials through metal-ligand interactions has yet to be reported. Herein we demonstrate a gel assembly formed via metal-ligand interactions using polyacrylamide modified with Fe-porphyrin and L-histidine moieties. The stress values for the assembly increase as the concentration of Fe-porphyrin or L-histidine in the gels increases. Moreover, agitation of Fe-porphyrin gel, Zn-porphyrin gel, and L-histidine gel in an 80 mM Tris-acetate buffer (pH 9.0) results in selective adhesion of the Fe-porphyrin gel to the L-histidine gel based on the affinities of Fe-porphyrin and Zn-porphyrin with L-histidine.

Abstract
Based on a regioselective tris-formylation of a tribenzotriquinacene (TBTQ) hydrocarbon, the racemic C(3)-symmetrical TBTQ-trialdehyde and the corresponding TBTQ-trimethanol were synthesized along with their C(1)-isomers. Conversion of the C(3)-trialdehyde to three diastereomeric TBTQ-based cryptophanes occurring in high yield enabled the preparation of the optically pure C(3)-symmetrical TBTQ-trialdehydes and the determination of their absolute configuration. The racemic C(3)-symmetrical TBTQ-trimethanol was found to form several stable nanotubular aggregates in the solid state.

Abstract
Unprecedented self-sorting of three-dimensional purely organic cages driven by dynamic covalent bonds is described. Four different cages were first synthesized by condensation of two triamines and two dialdehydes separately. When a mixture of all the components was allowed to react, only two cages were formed, which suggests a high-fidelity self-recognition. The issue of the preference of one triamine for a particular dialdehyde was further probed by transforming a non-preferred combination to either of the two preferred combinations by reacting it with the appropriate triamine or dialdehyde.

Abstract
Encaged! Three-terminal interlocked molecular species were obtained by dynamic (2+3) assembly of a cagelike macro-bicycle around a trifurcated trispyridinium π guest. The complex is stabilized by π-π interactions and multiple [C-H⋅⋅⋅O] and [C-H⋅⋅⋅N] interactions. Uncomplexed guest molecules cocrystallize alongside the threaded complexes in the solid state, thus giving extended π-stacked columns.

Abstract
A novel, interlocked, self-assembled (M(2)L(2))(2) molecular architecture was constructed from an arene-Ru acceptor and a 1,4-di(pyridin-4-yl)buta-1,3-diyne donor. Two M(2)L(2) units, with cavities of ~7.21 Å, spontaneously interlock, with one unit encapsulating a twin in a non-catenane fashion. The dimeric host-guest complex thus formed is unique among two-dimensional self-assemblies and is stabilized by π-π interactions between the M(2)L(2) units.

Abstract
Acetylacetonato-platina[6]- and -platina[7]helicenes have been prepared from 2-pyridyl-substituted benzophenanthrene ligands by following a two-step cycloplatination reaction. The photophysical properties (UV-visible absorption and emission behavior) and chiroptical properties (circular dichroism and molar rotation) of the resolved enantiomers have been measured. These metallahelicenes constitute a novel family of easily accessible helicene derivatives that exhibit large and tuneable chiroptical properties that can be rationalized theoretically and compared to the parent [6]- and [7]carbohelicenes. Furthermore, they are red phosphors at room temperature and their large chiroptical properties can be modulated by oxidation of the metal center to Pt(IV). Hetero- and homochiral diastereomeric bis(metallahelicene)s that possess a rare Pt(III)-Pt(III) scaffold bridged by benzoato ligands have also been prepared. It is shown that the heterochiral (P,M)-bis(Pt(III)-[6]helicene) 9a(1) can isomerize into the homochiral (P,P)- and (M,M)-bis(Pt(III)-[6]helicene) 9a(2). Spectral assignments and an analysis of the optical rotation of these systems were made with the help of time-dependent density functional theory. The calculations highlight the contributions of the metal centers to the chiroptical properties. For 9a(1) and 9a(2), σ-π conjugation between the helicenes and the Pt-Pt moiety may contribute strongly to the optical rotation and electronic circular dichroism.

Abstract
Post-self-assembly modifications of a discrete metal-organic supramolecular structure have been developed. Such modifications allow the properties of the self-assembled supramolecular species to be changed in a simple and efficient manner (>90% yield). Initiated by the application of chemical stimuli, the post-self-assembly modifications described herein result in three distinct changes to the supramolecular system: an individual building-block component change, an overall structural modification, and a functional evolution of a [6+4] metal-organic supramolecular structure. The three modifications have been carefully examined by a range of characterization methods, including NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, pulsed field gradient spin echo NMR measurements, electrochemical analysis, and computational simulations.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of spiro-fused macrolactams by a multicomponent macrocyclization reaction (MCMR) is reported. The use of highly reactive, transient intermediates in this MCMR permits short reaction times, even at high dilution. The methods employed for this MCMR were first developed as a four-component strategy for the synthesis of β-ketoamide isoxazolines and a new macrocyclization reaction is reported.
