Abstract
Herein, we introduce a new class of bench-stable N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) nickel-precatalysts for homogeneous nickel-catalysis. The nickel(II) complexes are readily activated to Ni0 in situ under mild conditions, via a proposed Heck-type mechanism. The precatalysts are shown to facilitate carbonyl-ene, hydroalkenylation, and amination reactions.

Abstract
Based on previous work related to the design and application of rigid tridentate phosphine-pyridine-phenyl coordination offered by a PNC-pincer ligand upon cyclometalation to nickel, the synthesis, spectroscopic and solid state characterization and redox-reactivity of two NiII(PNC) complexes featuring either a methyl (2CH3 ) or CF3 co-ligand (2CF3 ) are described. One-electron oxidation is proposed to furnish C-C reductive elimination, as deduced from a combined chemical, electrochemical, spectroscopic and computational study. One-electron reduction results in a ligand-centered radical anion, as supported by electrochemistry, UV spectroelectrochemistry, EPR spectroscopy, and DFT calculations. This further attenuates the breadth of chemical reactivity offered by such PNC-pincer ligands.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed alkylarylation of active alkenes with tertiary benzylamines was achieved by charge-transfer-complex promoted C-N bond activation. The reaction proceeded through initial Ni-catalyzed C-N bond activation, followed by sequential radical addition, redox and proton abstraction with cleaved amine moiety in the absence of oxidant, and provides an efficient method to prepare various alkyl-substituted oxindoles and dihydroquinolinones in good yields.

Abstract
The use of (L)Ni( o-tolyl)Cl precatalysts (L = PAd-DalPhos or CyPAd-DalPhos) enables the C( sp2)-O cross-coupling of primary, secondary, or tertiary aliphatic alcohols with (hetero)aryl electrophiles, including unprecedented examples of such nickel-catalyzed transformations employing (hetero)aryl chlorides, sulfonates, and pivalates. In addition to offering a competitive alternative to palladium catalysis, this work establishes the feasibility of utilizing ancillary ligation as a complementary means of promoting challenging nickel-catalyzed C( sp2)-O cross-couplings, without recourse to precious-metal photoredox catalytic methods.

Abstract
The terminal-selective, remote C(sp3 )-H alkylation of alkenes was achieved by a relay process combining NiH-catalyzed hydrometalation, chain walking, and alkylation. This method enables the construction of unfunctionalized C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bonds under mild conditions from two simple feedstock chemicals, namely olefins and alkyl halides. The practical value of this transformation is further demonstrated by the large-scale and regioconvergent alkylation of isomeric mixtures of olefins at low catalyst loadings.

Abstract
A ligand-controlled and site-selective nickel catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction with aromatic esters and alkyl organoboron reagents as coupling partners was developed. This methodology provides a facile route for C(sp2)-C(sp3) bond formation in a straightforward fashion by successful suppression of the undesired β-hydride elimination process. By simply switching the phosphorus ligand, the ester substrates are converted into the alkylated arenes and ketone products, respectively. The utility of this newly developed protocol was demonstrated by its wide substrate scope, broad functional group tolerance and application in the synthesis of key intermediates for the synthesis of bioactive compounds. DFT studies on the oxidative addition step helped rationalizing this intriguing reaction chemoselectivity: whereas nickel complexes with bidentate ligands favor the C(aryl)-C bond cleavage in the oxidative addition step leading to the alkylated product via a decarbonylative process, nickel complexes with monodentate phosphorus ligands favor activation of the C(acyl)-O bond, which later generates the ketone product.

Abstract
In this work, Ni(I) aryl species that are directly relevant to cross-coupling have been synthesized. Transmetalation of (dppf)NiIX (dppf = 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-ferrocene, X = Cl, Br) with aryl Grignard reagents or aryl boronic acids in the presence of base produces Ni(I) aryl species of the form (dppf)NiI(Ar) (Ar = Ph, o-tolyl, 2,6-xylyl, 2,4,6-mesityl, 2,4,6-iPr3C6H2). The stability of the Ni(I) aryl species is inversely correlated to the steric bulk on the aryl ligand. The most unstable Ni(I) aryl species are the most active precatalysts for Suzuki-Miyaura reactions because they rapidly decompose to generate the active Ni(0) catalyst. This study shows that Ni(I) aryl species are initially formed in the activation of Ni(I) halide precatalysts for Suzuki-Miyaura reactions and establishes their stoichiometric and catalytic reactivity profile.

Abstract
Herein, we developed an operational simple, practical, and selective Ni-catalyzed synthesis of secondary amides. Application of renewable alcohols, earth-abundant and nonprecious nickel catalyst facilitates the transformations, releasing water as byproduct. The catalytic system is tolerant to a variety of functional groups including nitrile, allylic ether, and alkene and could be extended to the synthesis of bis-amide, antiemetic drug Tigan, and dopamine D2 receptor antagonist Itopride. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed the participation of a benzylic C-H bond in the rate-determining step.

Abstract
We report the Ni-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aliphatic amide derivatives. Prior studies have shown that aliphatic amide derivatives can undergo Ni-catalyzed carbon-heteroatom bond formation but that Ni-mediated C-C bond formation using aliphatic amide derivatives has remained difficult. The coupling disclosed herein is tolerant of considerable variation with respect to both the amide-based substrate and the boronate coupling partner and proceeds in the presence of heterocycles and epimerizable stereocenters. Moreover, a gram-scale Suzuki-Miyaura coupling/Fischer indolization sequence demonstrates the ease with which unique polyheterocyclic scaffolds can be constructed, particularly by taking advantage of the enolizable ketone functionality present in the cross-coupled product. The methodology provides an efficient means to form C-C bonds from aliphatic amide derivatives using nonprecious-metal catalysis and offers a general platform for the heteroarylation of aliphatic acyl electrophiles.

Abstract
We present herein a nickel-catalyzed dicarbofunctionalization of alkenes using readily available organoboronic acids and organic halides in a three-component fashion.
Efficient difunctionalization of alkenes allows the rapid construction of molecular complexity from simple building blocks in organic synthesis. We present herein a nickel-catalyzed dicarbofunctionalization of alkenes using readily available organoboronic acids and organic halides in a three-component fashion. In particular, an unprecedented regioselectivity of the 1,3-dicarbofunctionalization of N-allylpyrimidin-2-amine is achieved when aryl and methyl iodides are utilized. In contrast, the use of alkyl bromides with β-hydrogens results in 1,3-hydroarylation or oxidative 1,3-diarylation. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest an isomerization involving nickel hydride in the 1,3-difunctionalization reactions. On the other hand, the use of alkenyl or alkynyl halides promotes alternative regioselectivities to deliver 1,2-alkenylcarbonation or intriguing 2,1-alkynylcarbonation products. Such 2,1-alkynylarylation is also applicable to N-allylbenzamide as a different class of substrates. Overall, this nickel-catalyzed process proves to be powerful in delivering versatile difunctionalized compounds using readily available reagents/catalysts and a simple procedure.

Abstract
A highly efficient strategy for remote reductive cross-electrophile coupling has been developed through the ligand-controlled nickel migration/arylation. This general protocol allows the use of abundant and bench-stable alkyl bromides and aryl bromides for the synthesis of a wide range of structurally diverse 1,1-diarylalkanes in excellent yields and high regioselectivities under mild conditions. We also demonstrated that alkyl bromide could be replaced by the proposed olefin intermediate while using n-propyl bromide/Mn0 as a potential hydride source.
