Abstract
Lanthanide luminescence materials generally show great superiority in light-emitting materials, gaining increasingly exploration in the design of advanced functional materials. Herein, we prepared a supramolecular assembly via the coordination of a host molecule (1) and dilanthanide metal. Compound 1 possesses a 9,10-diphenylanthracene (ant) core with photosensitivity and terminal terpyridine (tpy), containing two-arm dibenzo-24-crown-8. The assembly could exhibit excellent lanthanide luminescence after undergoing a photoreaction from anthracene unit in 1. Significantly, the luminescence of the assembly could be reversibly switched on and off through a regulable photoreaction upon light irradiation or heating. The multiple functional behavior combined with the ease of assembly reveals that this photo/thermo-controlled lanthanide luminescence supramolecular polymer design method offers a convenient pathway for future engineering of multi-stimuli-responsive materials.

Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescent (CPL) materials are currently attracting great interest. While a chiral building is usually necessary in order to obtain CPL materials, here, this study proposes a general approach for fabricating 1D circularly polarized luminescent nanoassemblies from achiral aromatic molecules or aggregation-induced emissive compounds (AIEgens). It is found that a C3 symmetric chiral gelator can individually form hexagonal nanotube structures and encapsulate the guest molecules. When achiral AIEgens are encapsulated into the confined nanotubes via organogelation, the AIEgens will emit circularly polarized luminescence. Further, the direction of the CPL could be controlled by the supramolecular chirality of the nanotube. Remarkably, the approach is universal and various kinds of the AIEgens can be doped to show such property, providing a full-color-tunable circularly polarized luminescence.

Abstract
Water-soluble Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes with N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane-N,N'-diacetic acid (H2bpcd) have been synthesized and characterized in their racemic and enantiopure forms. The ligand has been designed to bind Ln(III) ions, providing a dissymmetric environment able to solicit strong chiroptical features while at the same time leaving a few coordination sites available for engaging further ancillary ligands. Potentiometric studies show that Ln(III) complexes have a relatively good stability and that at pH 7 the [Ln(bpcd)]+ species is largely dominant. DFT calculations carried out on the (S,S)-[Y(bpcd)(H2O)5]+ complexes (the closed-shell equivalents of [Eu(bpcd)(H2O)5]+ and [Tb(bpcd)(H2O)5]+) indicate that the two trans-O,O and trans-Npy,Npy configurations are equally stable in solution and present two coordinated water molecules. This is in agreement with the hydration number ∼2.6 determined by luminescence lifetime measurements on Tb(III) and Eu(III) complexes. A detailed optical and chiroptical spectroscopic characterization has been carried out and reveals that the complexes display an efficient luminescence in the visible spectral range accompanied by a strong CPL activity. A value for glum (around 0.1 on the top of the 546 nm band) for the Tb-based complex has been found. This is one of the highest glum values measured up to now for chiral Tb complexes. These results suggest that in principle Tb(bpcd)Cl is suitable to be employed as a CPL bioprobe for relevant analytes in aqueous media.

Abstract
We report the correlation between the fluorescence intensity and the helical pitch of supramolecular hydrogels with Tb(III) and Eu(III) as well as their inkjet printing patterning as an application. The luminescent gels, which exhibited three different emissions of red, green, and blue, could be prepared without and with Eu(III) and Tb(III). The luminescence intensity of supramolecular gels (gel-Tb and gel-Eu) composed of Tb(III) and Eu(III) was ca. 3-fold larger than that of the sol (1+Tb(III) or 1+Eu(III)), which was attributed to large tilting angles between molecules. By AFM observations, these gels showed well-defined right-handed helical nanofibers formed by coordination bonds in which the helical pitch lengths were strongly dependent on the concentrations of lanthanide ions. In particular, the large luminescence intensity of gel-Tb exhibited a smaller helical pitch length than that of gel-1 due to relatively weak π-π stacking with large tilting angles between molecules. The luminescence intensities were enhanced linearly with increasing concentrations of lanthanide ions. This is the first example of the correlation between the helical pitch length and the luminescence intensity of supramolecular materials. The coordination bonding in supramolecular hydrogels had a strong influence on rheological properties. We also developed a water-compatible inkjet printing system to generate luminescent supramolecular gels on A4-sized paper. The images of a logo and the text were composed of three different emissions and were well-printed on A4 sized paper coated with gel-1.

Abstract
A new strategy is described for generating strong circularly polarized luminescence with highly tunable emission bands through chiral induction in nonchiral, totally organic, low-molecular-weight fluorescent dyes by chiral nanotemplate systems. Our approach allows the first systematic investigation to clarify the correlation between the circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence intensities. As a result, a dilute solution system with the highest circularly polarized luminescence intensity achieved to date and a dissymmetry factor of over 0.1 was identified.

Abstract
Chiral boron dipyrromethenes (BPs) enjoy high fluorescence efficiency at visible to near-IR wavelength regions with a reasonable range of dissymmetry factors. Here, we demonstrate that the (quasi)propeller chirality, similarly to hexagonal propeller in hexaarylbenzene, can be effectively induced in heptaarylated BP. In addition, supramolecular dimer was formed at low temperatures in nonpolar solvent, which exhibits strong bisignate Cotton effects at BP transitions (the couplet amplitude A = 193 M-1 cm-1) in the circular dichroism (CD). Due to the bulky substituents on the propeller blades, but with void space around boron atoms, BP chromophores in the dimer are aligned in a head-to-tail manner with a small torsion (φ ≈ 15°), to avoid fluorescence quenching usually observed in H-type dimer of BPs, exhibiting strong circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) signals (glum = 2.0 × 10-3, Φlum = 0.45). Such supramolecular dimer formation would be viewed as an alternative approach for designing and developing novel chiroptical materials.

Abstract
In recent years, optical chirality of plasmonic nanostructures has aroused great interest because of innovative fundamental understanding as well as promising potential applications in optics, catalysis and sensing. Herein, state-of-the-art studies on circular dichroism (CD) characteristics of plasmonic nanostructures are summarized. The hybrid of achiral plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) and chiral molecules is explored to generate a new CD response at the plasmon resonance as well as the enhanced CD intensity of chiral molecules in the UV region, owing to the Coulomb static and dynamic dipole interactions between plasmonic NPs and chiral molecules. As for chiral assembly of plasmonic NPs, plasmon-plasmon interactions between the building blocks are found to induce generation of intense CD response at the plasmon resonance. Three-dimensional periodical arrangement of plasmonic NPs into macroscale chiral metamaterials is further introduced from the perspective of negative refraction and photonic bandgap. A strong CD signal is also discerned in achiral planar plasmonic nanostructures under illumination of circular polarized plane wave at oblique incidence or input vortex beam at normal incidence. Finally perspectives, especially on future investigation of time-resolved CD responses, are presented.

Abstract
ortho-Oligo(phenylene)ethynylenes (o-OPEs) stapled with enantiopure 2,3-dihydroxybutane diethers have highly intense circular dichroism (CD) spectra and excellent circular polarized luminescence (CPL) responses (glum values up to 1.1 × 10-2), which are consistent with homochiral helically folded structures. In the presence of Ag(i), a change in the CPL emission is observed, representing the first example of CPL active small organic molecular emitters, which can be modulated by carbophilic interactions in a reversible manner.

Abstract
Circularly polarized room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) with persistent emission characteristics was observed from metal-free chiral binaphthyl structures. Enantiomers of the binaphthyl compounds doped into an amorphous hydroxylated steroid matrix produced blue fluorescence and yellow persistent RTP in air. The lifetime and quantum yield of the yellow persistent RTP were 0.67 s and 2.3%, respectively. The dissymmetry factors of circular dichroism (CD) in the first absorption band, circularly polarized fluorescence (CPF), and circularly polarized persistent RTP were |1.1 × 10(-3)|, |4.5 × 10(-4)|, and |2.3 × 10(-3)|, respectively. A comparison between the experimental data and calculations by time-dependent density functional theory for transient CD spectra confirmed that the binaphthyl conformations in the lowest singlet excited state (S1) and the lowest triplet state (T1) were different. The large difference in the dissymmetry factors for the CPF and the circularly polarized persistent RTP was likely caused by this conformational change between S1 and T1.
