Abstract
Carbon-based magnetic nanocomposites as promising lightweight electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbents are expected to address critical issues caused by electromagnetic pollution. Herein, Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded into a 3D N-rich porous carbon nanohoneycomb (Fe3O4@NC) were developed via the pyrolysis of an in-situ-polymerized compound of m-phenylenediamine initiated by FeCl2 in the presence of NaCl crystals as templates. Results demonstrate that Fe3O4@NC features highly dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles into an ultrahigh specific pyridinic-N doping carbon matrix, resulting in excellent impedance matching characteristics and electromagnetic wave absorbing capability with the biggest effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of up to 7.1 GHz and the minimum reflective loss (RLmin) of up to -65.5 dB in the thin thickness of 2.5 and 2.3 mm, respectively, which also outperforms the majority of carbon-based absorbers reported. Meanwhile, its high absorption performance is further demonstrated by an ethylene propylene diene monomer wave absorbing patch filled with 8.0 wt % Fe3O4@NC, which can completely shield a 5G signal in a mobile phone. In addition, theory calculation reveals that there is a strongest dx2-Pz orbital hybridization interaction between Fe3O4 clusters and pyridinic-N dopants in the carbon network, compared with other kinds of N dopants, which can not only generate more dipoles of carbon networks but also increase net magnetic moments of Fe3O4, thereby leading to a coupling effect of efficient dielectric and magnetic losses. This work provides new insights into the precise design and synthesis of carbon-based magnetic composites with specific interface interactions and morphological effects for high-efficiency EMW absorption materials.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted attention due to their designable structures. However, recently reported MOF microwave-absorbing materials (MAMs) are dominated by powders. It remains a challenge to design MOF/carbon nanotube (CNT) composite structures that combine the mechanical properties of self-supporting flexibility with excellent microwave absorption. This work involves the hydrothermal approach to grow Ni-MOF of different microstructures in situ on the CNT monofilament by adjusting the molar ratio of nickel ions to organic ligands. Subsequently, an ultraflexible self-supporting Ni-MOF/CNT buckypaper (BP) is obtained by directional gas pressure filtration technology. The BP porous skeleton and the Ni-MOF with a unique porous structure provide effective impedance matching. The CNTs contribute to the conduction loss, the cross-scale heterogeneous interface generated by Ni-MOF/CNT BP provides rich interfacial polarization loss, and the porous structure complicates the microwave propagation path. All factors work together to give Ni-MOF/CNT BP an excellent microwave absorption capacity. The minimum reflection losses of Ni-MOF/CNT BPs decorated with granular-, hollow porous prism-, and porous prism-shaped Ni-MOFs reach -50.8, -57.8, and -43.3 dB, respectively. The corresponding effective absorption bandwidths are 4.5, 6.3, and 4.8 GHz, respectively. Furthermore, BPs show remarkable flexibility as they can be wound hundreds of times around a glass rod with a diameter of 4 mm without structural damage. This work presents a new concept for creating ultraflexible self-supported MOF-based MAMs with hierarchical interpenetrating porous structures, with potential application advantages in the field of flexible electronics.

Abstract
The exceptional benefits of carbon aerogels, including their low density and tunable electrical characteristics, infuse new life into the realm of creating ultralight electromagnetic wave absorbers. The clever conceptualization and straightforward production of carbon-based aerogels, which marry aligned microporous architecture with nanoscale heterointerfaces and atomic-scale defects, are vital for effective multiscale microwave response. We present an uncomplicated synthesis method for crafting aligned porous Ni@C nanobelts anchored on N, S-doped carbon aerogels (Ni@C/NSCAs), featuring multiscale structural intricacies─achieved through the pyrolysis of freeze-cast Ni-MOF nanobelts and chitosan aerogel composites. The well-ordered porous configuration, combined with multiple heterointerfaces adopting a "nanoparticles-nanobelts-nanosheets" contact schema, along with a wealth of defects, adeptly modulates conductive, polarization, and magnetic losses to realize an equilibrium in impedance matching. This magnetically doped carbon aerogel showcases an impressive effective absorption bandwidth of 8.96 GHz and a minimum reflection loss of -68.82 dB, while maintaining an exceptionally low filler content of 1.75 wt %. Additionally, the applied coating exhibits an astonishing radar cross-section reduction of 51.7 dB m2, signifying its superior radar wave scattering capabilities. These results offer key insights into the attainment of broad-spectrum microwave absorption features by enhancing the multiscale structure of current aerogels.

Abstract
The exploitation of multicomponent composites (MCCs) has become the main pathway for obtaining advanced microwave absorption materials (MAMs). Herein, a metal valence state modulation strategy is proposed to tune the electromagnetic (EM) parameters and improve microwave absorption performances. Core@shell hollow carbon microspheres@MoSe2 and hollow carbon microspheres@MoSe2/MoOx MCCs with various mixed-valence states content are well-designed and produced by a simple hydrothermal reaction or/and heat treatment process. The results reveal that the thermal treatment of hollow carbon microspheres@MoSe2 in Ar and Ar/H2 leads to the in situ formation of MoOx and multivalence state, respectively, and the enhanced content of Mo4+ in the designed MCCs greatly boosts their impedance matching characteristics, polarization, and conduction loss capacities, which lead to their evidently improved EM wave absorption properties. Amongst, the as-prepared hollow carbon microspheres@MoSe2/MoOx MCCs achieve an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.80 GHz under a matching thickness of 1.97 mm and minimum reflection loss of -21.49 dB. Therefore, this work offers a simple and universal method to fabricate core@shell hollow carbon microspheres@MoSe2/MoOx MCCs, and a novel and feasible metal valence state modulation strategy is proposed to develop high-efficiency MAMs.

Abstract
Carbon fiber (CF) is a potential microwave absorption (MA) material due to the strong dielectric loss. Nevertheless, owing to the high conductivity, poor impedance matching of carbon-based materials results in limited MA performance. How to solve this problem and achieve excellent MA performance remains a principal challenge. Herein, taking full advantage of CF and excellent impedance matching of bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOF) derivatives layer, an excellent microwave absorber based on micron-scale 1D CF and NiCoMOF (CF@NiCoMOF-800) is developed. After adjusting the oxygen vacancies of the bimetallic MOF, the resultant microwave absorber presented excellent MA properties including the minimum reflection loss (RLmin ) of -80.63 dB and wide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 8.01 GHz when its mass percent is only 5 wt.% and the thickness is 2.59 mm. Simultaneously, the mechanical properties of the epoxy resin (EP)-based coating with this microwave absorber are effectively improved. The hardness (H), elastic modulus (E), bending strength, and compressive strength of CF@NiCoMOF-800/EP coating are 334 MPa, 5.56 GPa, 82.2 MPa, and 135.8 MPa, which is 38%, 15%, 106% and 53% higher than EP coating. This work provides a promising solution for carbon materials achieving excellent MA properties and mechanical properties.

Abstract
To reduce electromagnetic interference and noise pollution within communication base stations and servers, it is necessary for electromagnetic wave absorption (EWA) materials to transition from coating to multifunctional devices. Up to now, the stable and effective integration of multiple functions into one material by a simple method has remained a large challenge. Herein, a foam-type microwave absorption device assembled with multicomponent organic matter and graphite powder is synthesized by a universal combination process. Melamine and phenolic aldehyde amine work as the skeleton and cementing compound, respectively, in which graphite is embedded in the cementing compound interconnected into the mesoscopic 3D electric conductive and heat conductive network. Interestingly, the prepared flexible graphite/melamine foam (CMF) delivers a great EWA performance, with a great effective absorption bandwidth of 9.8 GHz, ultrathin thickness of 2.60 mm, and a strong absorption reflection loss of -41.7 dB. Moreover, the CMF possesses porosity and flexibility, endowing it with sound absorption ability. The CMF is unique in its integration of EWA, heat conduction, sound absorption, and mechanical robustness, as well as its cost-effective and scalable manufacturing. These attributes make CMF promising as a multifunctional device widely used in communication base stations, servers, and chips protection.

Abstract
Smart electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials are of great significance in coping with the dynamic performance demands of cutting-edge electronic devices. However, smart EMI shielding materials are still in their infancy and face a variety of challenges (e.g., large thickness, limited tunable range, poor reversibility, and unclear mechanisms). Here, we report a method for controllable shielding electromagnetic (EM) waves through subwavelength structure changes regulated by the customized structure via a direct printing route. The highly conductive MXene ink is regulated with metal ions (Al3+ ions), giving superb metallic conductivity (∼5000 S cm-1) for the printed lines without an annealing treatment. The reversible tunability of EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) ranging from 8.2 dB ("off" state) to 34 dB ("on" state) is realized through the controllable modulation of subwavelength structure driven by stress. This work provides a feasible strategy to develop intelligent shielding materials and EM devices.

Abstract
Microwave absorbers with high efficiency and mechanical robustness are urgently desired to cope with more complex and harsh application scenarios. However, manipulating the trade-off between microwave absorption performance and mechanical properties is seldom realized in microwave absorbers. Here, a chemistry-tailored charge dynamic engineering strategy is proposed for sparking hetero-interfacial polarization and thus coordinating microwave attenuation ability with the interfacial bonding, endowing polymer-based composites with microwave absorption efficiency and mechanical toughness. The absorber designed by this new conceptual approach exhibits remarkable Ku-band microwave absorption efficiency (-55.3 dB at a thickness of 1.5 mm) and satisfactory effective absorption bandwidth (5.0 GHz) as well as desirable interfacial shear strength (97.5 MPa). The calculated differential charge density depicts the uneven distribution of space charge and the intense hetero-interfacial polarization, clarifying the structure-performance relationship from a theoretical perspective. This work breaks through traditional single performance-oriented design methods and ushers a new direction for next-generation microwave absorbers.

Abstract
Hydrogels are emerging as stretchable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials because of their tissue-like mechanical properties and water-rich porous cellular structures. However, achieving high-performance hydrogel shields remains a challenge because enhancing conductivity often results in a compromise in deformation adoptability. This work proposes a treatment strategy involving sulfuric acid/titanium carbide MXene, which can simultaneously enhance the conductivity and stretchability of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) double-network hydrogels. Multiple spectroscopic characterizations reveal that sulfuric acid promotes the linear conformation transition of the PEDOT molecular chain, while MXene increases charge delocalization and hydrogen bond cross-linking sites. The hydrogels, synthesized with a combined content of 0.6 wt % of MXene and PEDOT:PSS, exhibit an average X-band EMI SE of 41 dB. This performance is sustained at 94.5%, even following stretching and release at a strain of 200%. Interestingly, the EMI SE is found to linearly increase, reaching a value of 99 dB as the frequency is increased to 26.5 GHz. This increase is attributed to the enhanced water molecular polarization process, as supported by theoretical calculations of the impedance and attenuation constant. This work introduces a post-treatment technique that optimizes double-network hydrogels, providing deep insights into their EMI shielding mechanism and enabling high-performance EMI shielding with an ultralow conductive filler content.

Abstract
This article presents a terahertz (THz) fast line-scanning imaging system with three-dimensional (3-D) focus-steering capability operating at 0.1 THz. The system comprises a 3-D printed rotating multi-prism plate and a dual-device structure consisting of a negative ridge pyramid and a column ridge pyramid. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the system generates a sheet-shaped diffraction-free beam with a projection distance of approximately 175 mm and a diffraction-free distance of approximately 200 mm. Moreover, the system maintains a resolution greater than 4 mm within the diffraction-free range. Furthermore, the proposed THz lens-less line-scanning imaging system enables 3-D scanning imaging within a set range of ±22°. The proposed approach can be extended to cover other frequencies within the THz range by appropriately adjusting the parameters. The system has the advantages of long working distance and long depth of field, making it a very attractive candidate for low-cost, easy-fabrication, and easy-adjustment solutions for the next generation of THz fast detection and imaging technology.

Abstract
Optimizing and enhancing the performance of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials relies on the modification of their composition and structure through heterogeneous interface engineering. Ti3C2Tx's high conductivity results in an impedance mismatch, which hinders efficient EMW absorption. Herein, a one-step catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) method is used to construct the Ti3C2Tx/TiO2@C heterogeneous structure. Upon annealing at 500 °C, amorphous carbon is uniformly deposited on the Ti3C2Tx surface, thereby incorporating the scale-like TiO2 generated during the process. The inclusion of the amorphous carbon layer and TiO2 reduces the substrate's conductivity, achieving optimized impedance matching. Additionally, building heterogeneous interfaces between Ti3C2Tx, TiO2, and C enriches multiple loss mechanisms involving dipole and interfacial polarization, ultimately enabling optimal EMW absorption performance. The minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of Ti3C2Tx/TiO2@C-500 is -53.12 dB when its thickness and frequency are 1.15 mm and 13.80 GHz, respectively. Moreover, thermal infrared imaging confirms that coatings fabricated using Ti3C2Tx/TiO2@C-500 demonstrate a favorable heat dissipation rate, validating its effectiveness in addressing the challenge of efficient heat dissipation in electronic devices. This study significantly contributes to the progress of two-dimensional (2D) materials, enabling high-performance EMW absorption and expanding their applications in complex scenarios.

Abstract
Over the past century, extensive research has been carried out on various types of microwave absorption (MA) materials, primarily emphasizing mechanism, performance, and even toward smart device. However, the deactivation, a crucial concern for practical applications, has long been long-neglected. In this work, an in-depth exploration of the deactivation mechanism reveals a significant competition between metal and oxygen, leading to the replacement of the S-M (M = Ni and Co) bond by a new S─O bond on the surface of absorber. This substitution initiates a series of collapse effect that introduces additional defective sites and diminishes the potential for charge transport. Subsequently, passive and active anti-deactivation strategies are developed to target the deactivation. The passive strategy involved intentionally creating electron-deficient structures at the initial Ni and Co sites in the crystal through the Fe doping engineering, with the objective of preventing the generation of S─O bonds. Furthermore, the active anti-deactivation strategy allows for the precise control of absorber deactivation and reactivation by employing accelerated thermodynamic and kinetic methods, enabling a reversible transformation of S-M through competitive reactions with S─O bonds. Finally, a fast deactivation and reactivation method is first proposed promising to stimulate further innovations and breakthroughs in practical applications.

Abstract
Microwave absorption materials (MAMs) are originally developed for military purposes, but have since evolved into versatile materials with promising applications in modern technologies, including household use. Despite significant progress in bench-side research over the past decade, MAMs remain limited in their scope and have yet to be widely adopted. This review explores the history of MAMs from first-generation coatings to second-generation functional absorbers, identifies bottlenecks hindering their maturation. It also presents potential solutions such as exploring broader spatial scales, advanced characterization, introducing liquid media, utilizing novel toolbox (machine learning, ML), and proximity of lab to end-user. Additionally, it meticulously presents compelling applications of MAMs in medicine, mechanics, energy, optics, and sensing, which go beyond absorption efficiency, along with their current development status and prospects. This interdisciplinary research direction differs from previous research which primarily focused on meeting traditional requirements (i.e., thin, lightweight, wide, and strong), and can be defined as the next generation of smart absorbers. Ultimately, the effective utilization of ubiquitous electromagnetic (EM) waves, aided by third-generation MAMs, should be better aligned with future expectations.

Abstract
Traditional carbon materials such as graphene are often applied in the field of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption but they have unbalanced impedance matching and high conductivity. Bio-carbon with graphene-like structure derived from apples has many advantages over graphene: it can be prepared in large quantities and the abundant heteroatoms present in the lattice can provide many polarization phenomena. Herein, Prussian blue analogue (PBA) as a source of magnetic component was combined with bio-carbon or reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to study the EMW absorption properties. The fabricated BC/CFC-12-7 displayed performance with a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -72.57 dB and a wide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 5.25 GHz with an ultra-thin and nearly equal matching thickness at 1.61 mm. The results show that the good EMW absorption property of bio-carbon composites comes from good conduction loss, large relaxation polarization loss especially from pyridinic-N, and better impedance matching. The optimized radar cross section is found to be -33.55 dB m2 in the far-field condition using CST. This work explored the advantages of bio-carbon as a novel EMW absorbing material compared with graphene and provided ideas for realizing high-performance EMW absorbing materials in the future.

Abstract
Flexible microwave absorbers with Joule heating performance are urgently desired to meet the demands of extreme service environments. Herein, a type of flexible composite film is constructed by homogeneously dispersing a hierarchical Ni-carbon microtube (Ni/CMT) into a processable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) matrix. The Ni/CMT are interconnected into a 3D conductive network, in which the huge interior cavity of the carbon microtube (CMT) improves impedance matching and provides additional hyper channels for electromagnetic (EM) waves dissipation, and the hierarchical magnetic Ni nanoparticles enhance the synergistic interactions between confined heterogeneous interfaces. Such an ingenious structure endows the composites with excellent electrothermal performance and improves their serviceability for application under extreme environments. Moreover, under a low fill loading of 3 wt.%, the Ni/CMT/PTFE (NCP) can achieve excellent low-frequency microwave absorption (MA) property with a minimum reflection loss of -59.12 dB at 5.92 GHz, which covers almost the entire C-band. Relying on their brilliant MA property, an EM sensor is designed and achieved by the resonance coupling of the patterned NCP. This work opens up a new way for the design of next-generation microwave absorbers that meet the requirements of EM packaging, proofing water and removing ice, fire safety, and health monitoring.

Abstract
Heterointerface engineering for different identifiable length scales has emerged as a key research area for obtaining materials capable of high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption; however, achieving controllable architectural and compositional complexity in nanomaterials with environmental and thermal stabilities remains challenging. Herein, metal-containing silicon carbonitride (SiCN/M) nanocomposite ceramics with multiphase heterointerfaces were in situ synthesized via coordination crosslinking, catalytic graphitization, and phase separation processes using trace amounts of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The results reveal that the regulation of dielectric genes by MOFs can yield considerable lattice strain and abundant lattice defects, contributing to strong interfacial and dipole polarizations. The as-prepared SiCN/M ceramics demonstrate excellent microwave absorption performance: the minimum reflection loss (RLmin ) is -72.6 dB at a thickness of only 1.5 mm and -54.1 dB at an ultralow frequency of 3.56 GHz for the SiCN/Fe ceramics and the RLmin is -55.1 dB with a broad bandwidth of 3.4 GHz at an ultralow thickness of 1.2 mm for the SiCN/CoFe ceramic. The results are expected to provide guidance for the design of future dielectric microwave absorption materials based on heterointerface engineering while offering a paradigm for developing MOF-modified SiCN nanocomposite ceramics with desirable properties.

Abstract
The combination of carbon materials and magnetic elements is considered as an effective strategy to obtain high-performance electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials. However, using nanoscale regulation to the optimization of composite material dielectric properties and enhanced magnetic loss properties is facing significant challenges. Here, the dielectric constant and magnetic loss capability of the carbon skeleton loaded with Cr compound particles are further tuned to enhance the EMW absorption performance. After 700 °C thermal resuscitation of the Cr3-polyvinyl pyrrolidone composite material, the chromium compound is represented as a needle-shaped structure of nanoparticles, which is fixed on the carbon skeleton derived from the polymer. The size-optimized CrN@PC composites are obtained after the substitution of more electronegative nitrogen elements using an anion-exchange strategy. The minimum reflection loss value of the composite is -105.9 dB at a CrN particle size of 5 nm, and the effective absorption bandwidth is 7.68 GHz (complete Ku-band coverage) at 3.0 mm. This work overcomes the limitations of impedance matching imbalance and magnetic loss deficiency in carbon-based materials through size tuning, and opens a new way to obtain carbon-based composites with ultra-high attenuation capability.

Abstract
Developing carbon encapsulated magnetic composites with rational design of microstructure for achieving high-performance electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption in a facile, sustainable, and energy-efficiency approach is highly demanded yet remains challenging. Here, a type of N-doped carbon nanotube (CNT) encapsulated CoNi alloy nanocomposites with diverse heterostructures are synthesized via the facile, sustainable autocatalytic pyrolysis of porous CoNi-layered double hydroxide/melamine. Specifically, the formation mechanism of the encapsulated structure and the effects of heterogenous microstructure and composition on the EMW absorption performance are ascertained. With the presence of melamine, CoNi alloy emerges its autocatalysis effect to generate N-doped CNTs, leading to unique heterostructure and high oxidation stability. The abundant heterogeneous interfaces induce strong interfacial polarization to EMWs and optimize impedance matching characteristic. Combined with the inherent high conductive and magnetic loss capabilities, the nanocomposites accomplish a high-efficiency EMW absorption performance even at a low filling ratio. The minimum reflection loss of -84.0 dB at the thickness of 3.2 mm and a maximum effective bandwidth of 4.3 GHz are obtained, comparable to the best EMW absorbers. Integrated with the facile, controllable, and sustainable preparation approach of the heterogenous nanocomposites, the work shows a great promise of the nanocarbon encapsulation protocol for achieving lightweight, high-performance EMW absorption materials.

Abstract
Although numerous experimental investigations have been carried out on the problem of defect engineering in semiconductor absorbers, the relationship among charge carrier, defects, heterointerfaces, and electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption has not been established systematically. Herein, the new thermodynamic and kinetic control strategy is proposed to establish multiphase Tix O2 x -1 (1 ≤ x ≤ 6) through a hydrogenation calcination. The TiOC-900 composite shows the efficient EM wave absorption capability with a minimum reflection loss (RLmin ) of -69.6 dB at a thickness of 2.04 mm corresponding to an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 4.0 GHz due to the holes induced conductance loss and heterointerfaces induced interfacial polarization. Benefiting from the controllable preparation of multiphase Tix O2 x -1 , a new pathway is proposed for designing high-efficiency EM wave absorbing semiconducting oxides. The validity of the method for adopting energy band theory to explore the underlying relations among charge carriers, defects, heterointerfaces, and EM properties in multiphase Tix O2 x -1 is demonstrated for the first time, which is of great importance in optimizing the EM wave absorption performance by electronic structure tailoring.

Abstract
The remarkable advantages of heterointerface and defect engineering and their unique electromagnetic characteristics inject infinite vitality into the design of advanced carbon-matrix electromagnetic wave absorbers. However, understanding the interface and dipole effects based on microscopic and macroscopic perspectives, rather than semi-empirical rules, can facilitate the design of heterointerfaces and defects to adjust the impedance matching and electromagnetic wave absorption of the material, which is currently lacking. Herein, CuCo2S4@Expanded Graphite heterostructure with multiple heterointerfaces and cation defects are reported, and the morphology, interfaces and defects of component are regulated by varying the concentration of metal ions. The results show that the 3D flower-honeycomb morphology, the crystal-crystal/amorphous heterointerfaces and the abundant cation defects can effectively adjust the conductive and polarization losses, achieve the impedance matching balance of carbon materials, and improve the absorption of electromagnetic wave. For the sample CEG-6, the effective absorption of Ku band with RLmin of -72.28 dB and effective absorption bandwidth of 4.14 GHz is realized at 1.4 mm, while the filler loading is only 7.0 wt. %. This article reports on the establishment of potential relationship between crystal-crystal/amorphous heterointerfaces, cation defects, and the impedance matching of carbon materials.

Abstract
Two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXene) have emerged as promising candidates for microwave absorption (MA) materials. However, they also have some drawbacks, such as poor impedance matching, high self-stacking tendency, and high density. To tackle these challenges, MXene nanosheets were incorporated into polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers and subsequently assembled into a three-dimensional (3D) network structure through PAN carbonization, yielding MXene/C aerogels. The 3D network effectively extends the path of microcurrent transmission, leading to enhanced conductive loss of electromagnetic (EM) waves. Moreover, the aerogel's rich pore structure significantly improves the impedance matching while effectively reducing the density of the MXene-based absorbers. EM parameter analysis shows that the MXene/C aerogels exhibit a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of - 53.02 dB (f = 4.44 GHz, t = 3.8 mm), and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 5.3 GHz (t = 2.4 mm, 7.44-12.72 GHz). Radar cross-sectional (RCS) simulations were employed to assess the radar stealth effect of the aerogels, revealing that the maximum RCS reduction value of the perfect electric conductor covered by the MXene/C aerogel reaches 12.02 dB m2. In addition to the MA performance, the MXene/C aerogel also demonstrates good thermal insulation performance, and a 5-mm-thick aerogel can generate a temperature gradient of over 30 °C at 82 °C. This study provides a feasible design approach for creating lightweight, efficient, and multifunctional MXene-based MA materials.

Abstract
MXene has great application potential in electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbers because of its high attenuation ability; however, self-stacking and excessively high conductivity are major obstacles to its widespread use. To address these issues, a NiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH)/ MXene composite with two-dimensional (2D)/2D sandwich-like heterostructure was constructed through electrostatic self-assembly. The NiFe-LDH not only acts as an intercalator to prevent self-stacking of the MXene nanosheets, but also serves as a low-dielectric choke valve to optimize impedance matching. At a thickness of 2 mm and filler loading of 20 wt%, the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value could reach -58.2 dB, and the absorption mechanism was analyzed based on multiple reflection, dipole/interfacial polarization, impedance matching, and synergy between dielectric and magnetic losses. Furthermore, the simulation of the radar cross section (RCS) further confirmed the efficient absorption properties and application prospects of the present material. Our work demonstrates that designing sandwich structures based on 2D MXene is an effective way to improve the performance of EM wave absorbers.

Combination strategy of large interlayer spacing and active basal planes for regulating the microwave absorption performance of MoS 2/MWCNT composites at thin absorber level. Abstract
Recently, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)/carbon has become a promising candidate for efficient microwave absorption. However, it is still challenging to simultaneously optimize the synergy of impedance matching and loss capability at the level of a thin absorber. Here, a new adjustment strategy is proposed by changing the concentration of precursor l-cysteine for MoS2/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) composites to unlock the basal plane of MoS2 and expand the interlayer spacing from 0.62 nm to 0.99 nm, leading to improved packing of MoS2 nanosheets and more active sites. Therefore, the tailored MoS2 nanosheets exhibit abundant sulfur-vacancies, lattice-oxygen, more metallic 1T-phase, and higher surface area. Such sulfur-vacancies and lattice-oxygen promote the electronic asymmetric distribution at the solid-air interface of MoS2 crystals and induce stronger microwave attenuation through interface/dipole polarization, which is further verified by first-principles calculations. In addition, the expansion of the interlayer spacing induces more MoS2 to deposit on the MWCNT surface and increases the roughness, improving the impedance matching and multiple scattering. Overall, the advantage of this adjustment method is that while optimizing impedance matching at the thin absorber level, composite still maintains a high attenuation capacity, which means enhancing the attenuation performance of MoS2 itself offsets the weakening of the composite's attenuation ability caused by the decrease in the relative content of MWCNT components. Most importantly, adjusting impedance matching and attenuation ability can be easily implemented by separate control of l-cysteine content. As a result, the MoS2/MWCNT composites achieve a minimum reflection loss value of -49.38 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.64 GHz at a thickness of only 1.7 mm. This work provides a new vision for the fabrication of thin MoS2-carbon absorbers.

Abstract
Functional two-dimensional (2D) graphene-like carbon has the potential to be a good electromagnetic wave absorbing material due to its good electronic properties, but the preparation of 2D carbon via metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derivation method is still a bottleneck. Herein, we fabricated ultrathin nitrogen-doped graphene-like carbon nanomesh (N-GN) via thermal exfoliation of 2D MOF (Zn-ZIF-L) directly. The species of the chloride salt that exfoliated Zn-ZIF-L have an effect on the nitrogen content, graphitization degree, pore size and specific surface area of N-GN. The Zn-ZIF-L derived N-GN exfoliated by KCl and LiCl simultaneously has the optimum reflection loss of -54 dB only with the thickness of 2.1 mm and the filler loading of 3 wt%. The excellent electromagnetic wave absorbing property is attributed to its favorable structure, micro-meso-macropores, N heteroatoms, abundant heterogeneous graphene-like carbon nanomesh interfaces and defects. Our simple and low-cost preparation process facilitates the large-scale production and application for electromagnetic wave absorbing material of functionalized graphene-like carbon.

Abstract
Harvesting largely ignored and wasted electromagnetic (EM) energy released by electronic devices and converting it into direct current (DC) electricity is an attractive strategy not only to reduce EM pollution but also address the ever-increasing energy crisis. Here we report the synthesis of nanoparticle-templated graphene with monodisperse and staggered circular nanopores enabling an EM-heat-DC conversion pathway. We experimentally and theoretically demonstrate that this staggered nanoporous structure alters graphene's electronic and phononic properties by synergistically manipulating its intralayer nanostructures and interlayer interactions. The staggered circular nanoporous graphene exhibits an anomalous combination of properties, which lead to an efficient absorption and conversion of EM waves into heat and in turn an output of DC electricity through the thermoelectric effect. Overall, our results advance the fundamental understanding of the structure-property relationships of ordered nanoporous graphene, providing an effective strategy to reduce EM pollution and generate electric energy.

Abstract
Organic charge transfer (CT) cocrystals open a new door for the exploitation of low-dimensional near-infrared (NIR) emitters by a convenient self-assembly approach. However, research about the fabrication of sheet-like NIR-emitting microstructures that are significant for structural construction and integrated application is limited by the unidirectional molecular packing mode. Herein, via regulation of the biaxial intermolecular CT interaction, single-crystalline microsheets with remarkable NIR emission from 720 to 960 nm were synthesized via the solution self-assembly process of dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]thiophene and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane. The expected sheet-like structure is conducive to achieving a two-dimensional (2D) optical waveguide with an ultralow optical loss rate of 0.250 dB/μm at 860 nm. More significantly, these as-prepared organic microsheets with tunable thicknesses (h) from 100 to 1100 nm exhibit thickness-dependent NIR optical transportation performance. These findings could pave the way to a new class of low-dimensional NIR emitters for 2D photonics at telecom wavelengths.

Abstract
Tunable designs of polymorphic structured transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) demonstrate promising applications in the field of electromagnetic wave absorption (EMW). However, it remains a technical challenge for achieving a balanced relationship between well-matched impedance characteristics and dielectric losses. Therefore, the co-modification strategies of polydopamine coating and wet impregnation are chosen to construct CoS2 magnetic double-shell microspheres with phase component modulation to achieve the optimized performance. Dopamine hydrochloride forms a coating on the surface of CoS2 microspheres by self-polymerization and forms a double-shell structure during the pyrolysis process. Then the different metal is doped to generate heterogeneous components in the process of heat treatment. The results show that the cobalt doped double-shell microspheres have an ultra-high electromagnetic wave absorption absorption capacity with an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.04 GHz (1.98 mm) and a minimum reflection loss value of -48.90 dB. The double-shell layer structure and metal ion hybridization can improve the interfacial polarization and magnetic loss behavior, which provides an explicit inspiration for the development of transition metal dichalcogenide and even transition metal compounds with tunable absorption properties.

Abstract
Graphene with abundant defects has been considered as the most lightweight electromagnetic functional materials. Although important, the dominant electromagnetic response of defective graphene with diverse morphologies is rarely the focus of existing research. Herein, the defective graphene with two-dimensional planar structure (2D-ps) and three-dimensional continuous network (3D-cn) morphologies were dexterously designed with 2D mixing and 3D filled systems of polymeric matrix. A comparison between the topologies of defective graphene-based nanofillers and the microwave attenuation behaviors was examined. Defective graphene with 3D-cn morphology can achieve ultralow filling content and broadband absorption, which is attributed to the presence of numerous pore structures that promote impedance matching, induce continuous conduction loss and provide multiple reflection and scattering sites for electromagnetic wave attenuation. Comparatively, by virtue of the increased filling content of 2D-ps, the dielectric losses primarily originate from the dielectric genes, including aggregation-induced-charge transport, abundant defect and dipole polarization, resulting in good microwave absorption at low thickness and low frequency. Therefore, this work provides a pioneering insight into morphology engineering of defective graphene microwave absorbers, and it will guide future exploration of customizing high-performance microwave absorption materials based on graphene-based low-dimensional building blocks.

Abstract
Facing the increasingly complex and deteriorated environment, people's thermal comfort and health requirements are expanding. Therefore, wearable materials with integrated functions have progressed rapidly due to the fair compatibility for various functions and precise regulation. In this work, a laminated MXene foam/cellulose@LDH composite membrane was fabricated via a facile process consisting of in situ growth, vacuum filtration, and foaming for asymmetrical personal thermal management and electromagnetic interference shielding. In detail, the Zn-Al LDH side shows a high solar reflectance of 0.89 and an infrared emissivity of 0.97 in the atmospheric window, demonstrating the superior radiative cooling property. In contrast, the outstanding radiative warming performance is revealed by the high solar absorption (0.72) and infrared reflectivity (0.55) of the MXene foam. As a result, prominent temperature differences were achieved during the validation test. Compared to the control group, an 18 °C reduction of the Zn-Al LDH side and a 9.6 °C increment of the MXene foam side were observed, bringing out the excellent optical properties and radiative thermal management performances. What is more, due to the outstanding electrical conductivity of MXene, a rapid and prominent temperature rise to 44.2 °C could be expected by applying a low voltage of 1 V to provide active joule warmth. In addition, hydrophobization and the associated stain resistance were explained by the high water contact angles of obtained membranes. The excellent electromagnetic interference shielding performance (43.9 dB) given by the introduction of MXene provides a prospective candidate to replace the common shielding materials. The results, in general, provide a promising strategy for meeting the updating requirements for comfortable living in a world full of potential thermal and health threats.

Abstract
In order to achieve excellent electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption properties, the microstructure design and component control of the absorber are critical. In this study, three different structures made of Mo2 C/C hollow spheres are prepared and their microwave absorption behavior is investigated. The Mo2 C/C double-shell hollow spheres consisting of an outer thin shell and an inner rough thick shell with multiple EMW loss mechanisms exhibit good microwave absorption properties. In order to further improve the microwave absorption properties, MoC1-x /C double-shell hollow spheres with different crystalline phases of molybdenum carbide are prepared to further optimize the EMW loss capability of the materials. Finally, MoC1-x /C double-shell hollow spheres with α-phase molybdenum carbide have the best microwave absorption properties. When the filling is 20 wt.%, the minimum reflection loss at 1.8 mm is -50.55 dB and the effective absorption bandwidth at 2 mm is 5.36 GHz, which is expected to be a microwave absorber with the characteristics of "thin, light, wide, and strong".

Abstract
Vacancy engineering has been shown to be an effective way to tune the electromagnetic parameters of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbers and improve their absorption properties. However, the current methods to induce the formation of sulfur vacancies are not enough, and the contribution of sulfur vacancies to EMW absorption has not been clearly described. This work proposes a method to induce sulfur vacancies generation in the Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) system by cation doping. It is found that the formation of sulfur vacancies depends on reactivity with doping cations and the less reactive cation is more favorable for the formation of sulfur vacancies. Benefiting from the improved sulfur vacancies concentration, the defect-induced polarization and dipole polarization are greatly enhanced, which allows the EMW absorber to exhibit excellent EMW absorption performance. Therefore, the minimum reflection loss of the cation-doped CZTS reaches -61.80 dB at a thickness of 2.00 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth reaches 6.29 GHz at 2.30 mm. This work not only expounds on the significant roles of sulfur vacancies in EMW absorption mechanism, but also presents a novel idea for defect construction of copper-based chalcogenide semiconductor materials.

Abstract
The development of infrared-radar compatible materials/devices is challenging because the requirements of material properties between infrared and radar stealth are contradictory. Herein, a composite of poly(3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) coated melamine foam is designed to integrate the advantages of the dual materials and the created heterogeneous interface between them. The as-designed PEDOT:PSS@melamine composite shows excellent mechanical properties, outstanding thermal insulation, and improved thermal infrared stealth performance. The relevant superb radar stealth performance including the minimum reflection loss value of -57.57 dB, the optimum ultra-wide bandwidth of 10.52 GHz, and the simulation of radar cross section reduction value of 17.68 dB m2 , can be achieved. The optimal specific electromagnetic wave absorption performance can reach up as high as 3263.02 dB·cm3 g-1 . The average electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness value can be 30.80 dB. This study provides an approach for the design of high-performance stealth materials with infrared-radar compatibility.

Abstract
Carbon-based carbides have attracted tremendous attention for electromagnetic energy attenuation due to their adjustable dielectric properties, oxidation resistance, and good chemical stability. Herein, we reasonably regulate the growth of dopamine hydrochloride on the surface of the Mo-glycerate (Mo-GL) microsphere and then transform the resultant Mo-polydopamine (Mo-PD) microsphere into a dual-shell Mo2C/C (DS-Mo2C/C) microsphere in a high-temperature pyrolysis process under an inert atmosphere. It is found that the pyrolysis temperature plays an important role in the graphitization degree of the carbon matrix and internal architecture. The fabrication of a dual-shell structure can be propitious to the optimization of impedance matching, and the introduction of Mo2C nanoparticles also prompts the accumulation of polarization loss. When the pyrolysis temperature reaches 800 °C, the optimized composite of DS-Mo2C/C-800 exhibits good EM absorption performance in the frequency range of 2.0-18.0 GHz. DS-Mo2C/C-800's qualified bandwidth can reach 4.4 GHz at a matching thickness of 1.5 mm, and the integrated qualified bandwidth (QBW) even exceeds 14.5 GHz with a thickness range of 1.5-5.0 mm. The positive effects of the dual-shell structure and Mo2C nanoparticles on EM energy attenuation may render the DS-Mo2C/C microsphere as a promising candidate for lightweight and broad bandwidth EM absorption materials in the future.

Abstract
Sustainable renewable polymer foam used as a lightweight porous skeleton for microwave absorption is a novel strategy that can effectively solve the problems of the large surface density, high additive amount, and narrow absorbing band of absorbing materials. In this article, novel renewable microwave-absorbing foams were prepared using Sapiumse biferum kernel oil-based polyurethane foam (BPUF) as porous matrix and Fe3O4-nanoparticles as magnetic absorbents. The microstructure and the microwave absorption performance, the structural effects on the properties, and electromagnetic mechanism of the magnetic BPUF (mBPUF) were systematically characterized and analyzed. The results show that the mBPUF displayed a porous hierarchical structure and was multi-interfacial, which provided a skeleton and matching layer for the Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The effective reflection loss (RL ≤ −10 dB) frequency of the mBPUF was from 4.16 GHz to 18 GHz with only 9 wt% content of Fe3O4 nanoparticles at a thickness of 1.5~5 mm. The surface density of the mBPUF coatings was less than 0.5 kg/cm2 at a thickness of 1.8 mm. The lightweight characteristics and broadband absorption were attributed to the porous hierarchical structures and the dielectric combined with the magnetic loss effect. It indicates that the mBPUF is a prospective broadband-absorbing material in the field of lightweight stealth materials.

Abstract
The practical application of polymer composites in the electronic and communications industries often requires multi-properties, such as high thermal conductivity (TC), efficient electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding ability with low electrical conductivity, superior tribological performance, reliable thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties. However, the integration of these mutually exclusive properties is still a challenge, ascribed to their different requirement on the incorporated nanofillers, composite microstructure as well as processing process. Herein, a well-designed boron nitride nanosheet (BN)/graphene nanosheet (GNP)/polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) composite with a dual-segregated structure is fabricated via high-pressure molding. Rather than homogenous mixing of the hybrid fillers, GNP is first coated on PPS particles and followed by encapsulating the conductive GNP layers with insulating BN, forming a BN shell-GNP layer-PPS core composite particles. After hot-pressing, a dual segregated structure is constructed, in which GNP and BN are distinctly separated and arranged in the interfaces of PPS, which on the one hand gives rise to high thermal conductivity, and on the other hand, the aggregated BN layer can act as an "isolation belt" to effectively reduce the electronic transmission. Impressively, high-pressure is loaded and it has a more profound effect on the EMI shielding and thermal conductive properties of PPS composites with a segregated structure than that with homogenous mixed-structure composites. Intriguingly, the synergetic enhancement effect of BN and GNP on both thermal conductive performance and EMI shielding is stimulated by high pressure. Consequently, PPS composites with 30 wt% GNP and 10 wt% BN hot-pressed under 600 MPa present the most superior comprehensive properties with a high TC of 6.4 W/m/K, outstanding EMI SE as high as 70 dB, marvelous tribological performance, reliable thermal stability and satisfactory mechanical properties, which make it promising for application in miniaturized electronic devices in complex environments.

Abstract
Rational designing of one-dimensional (1D) magnetic alloy to facilitate electromagnetic (EM) wave attenuation capability in low-frequency (2-6 GHz) microwave absorption field is highly desired but remains a significant challenge. In this study, a composite EM wave absorber made of a FeCoNi medium-entropy alloy embedded in a 1D carbon matrix framework is rationally designed through an improved electrospinning method. The 1D-shaped FeCoNi alloy embedded composite demonstrates the high-density and continuous magnetic network using off-axis electronic holography technique, indicating the excellent magnetic loss ability under an external EM field. Then, the in-depth analysis shows that many factors, including 1D anisotropy and intrinsic physical features of the magnetic medium-entropy alloy, primarily contribute to the enhanced EM wave absorption performance. Therefore, the fabricated EM wave absorber shows an increasing effective absorption band of 1.3 GHz in the low-frequency electromagnetic field at an ultrathin thickness of 2 mm. Thus, this study opens up a new method for the design and preparation of high-performance 1D magnetic EM absorbers.

Abstract
The construction of yolk-shell composites with dielectric/magnetic multiple loss mechanisms has become a promising strategy to obtain high-efficiency microwave absorbing materials. An ideal microwave absorber should possess dielectric and magnetic loss abilities, thereby leading to the attenuation and absorption of incident electromagnetic radiation. Herein, the yolk-shell structured CoFe2O4@carbon (YS-CoFe2O4@C) and Co3Fe7/FeO@carbon (YS-Co3Fe7/FeO@C) composites were designed and synthesized through a series of processes, which include in-situ coating, heat-treating, etching and subsequent carbonization reduction reaction. The composite materials with specific structure, composition, and electromagnetic parameters could be effectively obtained by controlling the reaction conditions. The combination of alloy with high magnetic loss and carbon with advanced dielectric loss as well as the unique yolk-shell structure endow YS-Co3Fe7/FeO@C improved impendence matching and large attenuation constant. The YS-Co3Fe7/FeO@C composites show optimized microwave absorption behaviors, the minimum reflection loss is up to -57.6 dB at 12.30 GHz with the of 2.5 mm and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth is 5.27 GHz (10.10-15.37 GHz). Moreover, the widest effective bandwidth could reach 7.0 GHz (11-18 GHz) with the thickness of 2.3 m. This design provides a novel concept for tuning microwave absorption efficiency of magnetic/dielectric composites to prepare high-performance microwave absorbers.

Abstract
Interfacial polarization and geometrical morphology play a significant role in the attenuation of electromagnetic (EM) wave. Herein, the two-dimensional (2D)/2D heterojunction with flower-like geometrical morphology is proposed and produced, which may simultaneously provide a large contact area for achieving strong interfacial polarization and activates more sites for the possible multiple EM wave reflection and scattering. By adopting a simple two-step hydrothermal method, MoSe2/MoS2and MoS2/MoSe2 inner and outer-interchangeable heterojunctions consisting of 2D MoSe2 and MoS2 nanosheets with flower-like geometrical morphology were successfully synthesized. The results revealed that the hydrothermal temperatures significantly impacted the flower-like geometrical morphology and MoS2 content. By optimizing the microstructures, the designed MoSe2/MoS2 and MoS2/MoSe2 heterojunctions presented enhanced comprehensive EM wave absorption properties (EMWAPs), possessing strong absorption capability, wide absorption bandwidth and thin matching thicknesses. Generally, this work demonstrates that the optimized EMWAPs of designed heterojunctions mainly originate from the special interfaces and morphology configuration, which also paves a new way for the designing and synthesis of transition metal dichalcogenides-based heterojunction as a novel and desirable candidate for high-performance microwave absorbers.

Abstract
Micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) are considered as the promising energy supply of miniaturized electronic devices. The electrode material, as one integral part, play a crucial role on the energy storage performance of MSCs. In our work, we constructed a heterojunction in MXene-PANI@MWCNTs (MPM) ternary composite, benefitting for the synergistic enhancement effect among MXene, polyaniline (PANI) and multiwall carbon nanotubes, an outstanding specific capacitance of 414 F g-1(at 1 A g-1) has been achieved. MPM shows high capacitance retention at large current density (86.7%, at 10 A g-1) and long-term cycling stability of 90.4% for 10 000 cycles. Furthermore, we obtained MPM self-standing films, and constructed a flexible all-solid-state MSC based on the film electrode. A competitive charge storage capability of 30.2 mF cm-2and long-term stability of 70.2% retention for 10 000 cycles was obtained in the MSC. Meanwhile, the MSC shows excellent flexibility, maintaining most capacitance under bending conditions. Moreover, using an integrated strategy, MSCs can obtain tunable voltages and currents that meet various practical requirements. All these results indicate that the MPM is an excellent charge storage material and will become a potential candidate for flexible energy-storage devices.

Abstract
Improving the atom utilization of metals and clarifying the M-M' interaction is both greatly significant in assembling high-performance ultra-light electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials. Herein, a high-temperature explosion strategy has been successfully applied to assemble the hierarchical porous carbon sponge with Co-Fe decoration via the pyrolysis of the energetic metal organic framework. The as-constructed hybrid displays a superior reflection loss (RL) value of - 57.7 dB and a specific RL value of - 192 dB mg-1 mm-1 at 12.08 GHz with a layer thickness of 2.0 mm (loading of 15 wt%). The off-axis electron hologram characterizes the highly distributed numerous polarized nanodomain variable capacitors, demonstrating the dipole and interfacial polarization along the edges of the nanopores. More importantly, the X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis verifies the mutual interaction between the metal cluster and carbon matrix and the electronic coupling responsible for the greatly improved electromagnetic wave absorption.

Abstract
Herein, we demonstrate for the first time compact ferrite ceramics with giant coercivity. The materials are manufactured via sintering single-domain Sr0.67Ca0.33Fe8Al4O19 particles synthesized by a citrate-nitrate auto-combustion method. The obtained ceramics show coercivities up to 22.5 kOe and natural ferromagnetic resonance frequencies (NFMR) in a sub-THz range of 160-282 GHz. At a maximum density of 95%, the sample displays coercivity of 18.5 kOe, which is the highest value among dense ferrite materials reported so far. In addition, we report an unusual blueshift of the NFMR frequency from 160 to 200 GHz, which occurs during material sintering.

Abstract
Electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbing materials play an increasingly important role in modern society for their multi-functional in military stealth and incoming 5G smart era. Dielectric loss EM wave absorbers and underlying loss mechanism investigation are of great significance to unveil EM wave attenuation behaviors of materials and guide novel dielectric loss materials design. However, current researches focus more on materials synthesis rather than in-depth mechanism study. Herein, comprehensive views toward dielectric loss mechanisms including interfacial polarization, dipolar polarization, conductive loss, and defect-induced polarization are provided. Particularly, some misunderstandings and ambiguous concepts for each mechanism are highlighted. Besides, in-depth dielectric loss study and novel dielectric loss mechanisms are emphasized. Moreover, new dielectric loss mechanism regulation strategies instead of regular components compositing are summarized to provide inspiring thoughts toward simple and effective EM wave attenuation behavior modulation.

Abstract
In order to decrease and control electromagnetic pollution, absorbing materials with better electromagnetic wave absorption properties should be developed. In this paper, a nanocrystalline alloy ribbon with the composition of Fe73.2Si16.2B6.6Nb3Cu1 was designed and prepared. Nanocrystalline alloy powder was obtained by high-energy ball milling treatment. The effects of ball milling time on the soft magnetic properties, microstructure, morphology, and electromagnetic wave absorption properties of alloy powder were investigated. The results showed that, as time increased, α-(Fe, Si) gradually transformed into the amorphous phase, and the maximum saturation magnetization (Ms) reached 135.25 emu/g. The nanocrystalline alloy powder was flakelike, and the minimum average particle size of the powder reached 6.87 μm. The alloy powder obtained by ball milling for 12 h had the best electromagnetic absorption performance, and the minimum reflection loss RLmin at the frequency of 6.52 GHz reached −46.15 dB (matched thickness was 3.5 mm). As time increased, the best matched frequency moved to the high-frequency direction, and the best matched thickness decreased, while the maximum effective absorption bandwidth ΔfRL<−10 dB was 7.22 GHz (10.78−18 GHz).

Abstract
Biomass-derived carbon materials have received a surge of scientific attention to develop lightweight and broadband microwave absorbers. Herein, rodlike porous carbon materials derived from cotton have been fabricated with uniformly dispersed CoFe2O4nanoparticles via facile and scalable process. The combination of magnetic particles and carbonaceous material is advantageous to realize the magnetic-dielectric synergistic effect which could effectively promote the dissipation of incident waves, giving rise to an optimal reflection loss value of -48.2 dB over a qualified bandwidth (4.8 GHz) at 2.5 mm. The cotton-derived carbon rods with conductive network not only act as a supporter to carry the CoFe2O4nanoparticles, but also provide massive heterointerfaces to facilitate the interfacial polarization. In consideration of the renewable and abundant resource of cotton, the as-prepared CoFe2O4/C composites would meet the increasing demand of lightweight and highly efficient microwave absorbers.

Abstract
The multirelaxation behavior is promising for high-performance dielectric materials based on polarization-controllable high-efficiency electromagnetic attenuation. However, a single polar unit is the main problem that restricts the development of dielectric materials in the field. Herein, by constructing multiple polar units based on nanodomain engineering, enhanced electromagnetic attenuation properties are achieved in La doping BiFeO3 ferroelectric ceramics. A dual-band attenuation with a maximum reflection loss of -43.4 dB together with a wide effective bandwidth (<-10 dB) of 3.3 GHz in X-band, is acquired in Bi0.85 La0.15 FeO3 which just has a thickness of 1.54 mm. A systematic experimental analysis coupled with potential well modeling suggests that the miniaturization of the ferroelectric domain, from micron to nanoscale, induces an additional interface polarization that is capable of responding to microwave frequency, leading to the formation of dual dielectric relaxation. The way that intrinsic polar unit induces another polar unit through size effect to obtain multiple contributions of electromagnetic loss provides a feasible and universal strategy to design high-performance electromagnetic attenuation materials based on the ferroelectric family.

Abstract
Electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption materials possess exceptionally high EM energy loss efficiency. With vigorous developments in nanotechnology, such materials have exhibited numerous advanced EM functions, including radiation prevention and antiradar stealth. To achieve improved EM performance and multifunctionality, the elaborate control of microstructures has become an attractive research direction. By designing them as core-shell structures with different dimensions, the combined effects, such as interfacial polarization, conduction networks, magnetic coupling, and magnetic-dielectric synergy, can significantly enhance the EM wave absorption performance. Herein, the advances in low-dimensional core-shell EM wave absorption materials are outlined and a selection of the most remarkable examples is discussed. The derived key information regarding dimensional design, structural engineering, performance, and structure-function relationship are comprehensively summarized. Moreover, the investigation of the cutting-edge mechanisms is given particular attention. Additional applications, such as oxidation resistance and self-cleaning functions, are also introduced. Finally, insight into what may be expected from this rapidly expanding field and future challenges are presented.
