Abstract
The direct functionalization of remote C(sp3)-H is valuable but challenging, and is even more difficult to achieve than the γ-C(sp3)-H functionalization of alcohols. Among the strategies, hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) is one of the solutions for such transformations. Herein, we designed a migration reaction involving carbon monoxide, forming an alkoxy radical by photocatalysis, and used carbon monoxide to extend the carbon chain to provide a site for the migration of heteroaryl groups, which makes 1,4-HAT more advantageous, and we relied on this strategy to successfully achieve the synthesis of 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds by γ-C(sp3) functionalization of alcohols.

Abstract
A class of in-situ generated Lewis acid (LA) activated acridine complexes is reported, which act as potent photochemical catalysts for the oxidation of a variety of protected secondary amines. Acridine/LA complexes exhibit tunable excited state reduction potentials ranging from +2.07 to 2.38 V vs. SCE. The ytterbium triflate complex of 3,6-di-t-butyl-9-mesitylacridine catalyzes a photochemical Giese-type reaction of Boc-protected secondary amines with challenging conjugate acceptors such as acrylates, that are inaccessible to the analogous acridinium (t-Bu-Mes-Acr⊕) catalyzed reaction. The mechanism of this reaction was investigated using a suite of physical organic probes including intramolecular 13C kinetic isotope effects (KIEs), variable time normalization analysis (VTNA) kinetics, determination of redox potentials, and computational studies. In the reaction catalyzed by t-Bu-Mes-Acr⊕, mechanistic studies are consistent with single-electron transfer (SET) from the ground-state reduced t-Bu-Mes-Acr• to the α-keto radical intermediate as the first irreversible step in the catalytic cycle. Intriguingly, we find that the reduced acridine/LA complexes are better ground state reductants (-0.72 to -0.74 V vs SCE) relative to t-Bu-Mes-Acr• (-0.59 V vs SCE) and predict that the increased substrate reactivity stems from a lower energy barrier for this key SET event.

Abstract
Alkyl radicals generated via an acridine photocatalyzed decarboxylation reaction of feedstock carboxylic acids engage with a range of cyclic imine-BF3 complexes to provide α-functionalized azacycles in an operationally simple process. A three-component variant of this transformation incorporating [1.1.1]propellane as an additional reaction partner enables the synthesis of valuable bicyclopentane (BCP)-containing azacycles. Reactions exhibit good functional group compatibility, enabling late-stage modification of complex bioactive molecules.

Abstract
Unprotected alicyclic amines undergo α-C-H bond phosphonylation via a two-stage one-pot process involving the oxidation of amine-derived lithium amides with simple ketone oxidants, generating transient imines which are then captured with phosphites or phosphine oxides. Amines with an existing α-substituent undergo regioselective α'-phosphonylation. Amine α-arylation and α'-phosphonylation can be combined, generating a difunctionalized product in a single operation.

Abstract
We developed a rhodium-catalyzed chain-walking hydrothiolation process for internal alkenes, which offers a novel and efficient alternative for C(sp3)-H bond cleavage, while focusing on thiol incorporation. This method exclusively affords N,S-acetals at 36-90% yields. Regioconvergent hydrothiolation significantly improved the effectiveness of this transformation. Preliminary mechanistic investigations revealed that an amide-directing group is essential for regioselective synthesis, underlining its significance in this process.

Abstract
A new strategy to access α-functionalized alicyclic amines via their corresponding imine-BF3 complexes is reported. Isolable imine-BF3 complexes, readily prepared via dehydrohalogenation of N-bromoamines in a base-promoted/18-crown-6 catalyzed process followed by addition of boron trifluoride etherate, undergo reactions with a wide range of organometallic nucleophiles to afford α-functionalized azacycles. Organozinc and organomagnesium nucleophiles add at ambient temperatures, obviating the need for cryogenic conditions. In situ preparation of imine-BF3 complexes provides access to α-functionalized morpholines and piperazines directly from their parent amines in a single operation. α-Functionalized morpholines can be elaborated further, for instance by installing a second substituent in the α'-position.

Abstract
A visible-light-driven desaturative β-alkoxyoxalyation of N-aryl cyclic amines with difluoromethyl bromides and H2O has been reported. This tandem reaction is triggered by homolysis of the C-Br bond to produce the difuoroalkyl radical, which undergoes the subsequent defluorinated β-alkoxyoxalylation cascades to afford a wide range of β-ketoester/ketoamides substituted enamines. The prominent feature of this reaction contains photocatalyst-free, transition-metal free, and mild conditions. The 18O labeling experiment disclosed that H2O is the oxygen source of the carbonyl unit.

Abstract
An efficient C-N cross-coupling approach for the synthesis of hydrazones was developed through C(sp2)-H and C(sp3)-H functionalization of indole and methylarene under visible light irradiation using photocatalyst eosin Y, ethanol:water as a green solvent and atmospheric air as an oxidant. With the aid of eosin Y, the C-H bonds of indole and methylarenes were activated followed by coupling with arylhydrazines. The procedure was applied to a wide variety of substrates with good functional group compatibility, offering a creative way to make hydrazones from inexpensive and easily accessible raw materials. The absence of metals, low cost, environmental friendliness, green solvent, non-toxicity, ease of handling, and utilization of renewable energy sources like visible light are some of this method's primary advantages.

Abstract
With the assistance of the acetamido directing group (DG), a rhodium-catalyzed C-H alkenylation/DG migration cascade for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted 1,3-enynes from N-phenoxyacetamides and 1,3-diynes has been achieved in this work. Alternatively, a rhodium-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation for the synthesis of alkynylated benzofurans from the same set of substrates has also been achieved by simply changing the reaction conditions. This work highlights the tunable divergent synthesis of valuable compounds triggered by C-H activation.

Abstract
The Rh(I)-catalysed imine-directed oxidative [3 + 2] cycloaddition of benzylamines with maleimides is reported. A wide range of both benzylamines and maleimides is applicable to the reaction. A one-pot three component strategy using benzylamines, 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde, and maleimides is successfully achieved. Mechanistic studies including deuterium labelling experiments suggest that a zwitterionic intermediate is formed and is a key intermediate through the Rh-catalysed activation of a benzylic C(sp3)-H bond of the imine.

Abstract
An efficient primary-amine-directed, palladium-catalyzed C-H halogenation (X=I, Br, Cl) of phenylalanine derivatives is reported on a range of quaternary amino acid (AA) derivatives thanks to suitable conditions employing trifluoroacetic acid as additive. The extension of this original native functionality-directed ortho-selective halogenation was even demonstrated with the more challenging native phenylalanine as tertiary AA.

Abstract
Rhodium(III)-catalyzed annulation of 2-biphenylboronic acids with three classes of activated alkenes has been realized, leading to the synthesis of fused or bridged cyclic skeletons via transmetalation-initiated C-H activation. In the annulative coupling of 2-biphenylboronic acid with a CF3-substituted enone, the bulky cyclopentadienyl ligand (CptBu) in the catalyst proved effective to promote the reductive elimination process prior to protonolysis, affording the [4 + 2] annulated products instead of the simple 1,4-addition product. Seven-membered rings were obtained when disubstituted cyclopropenones were employed. Bridged cycles were isolated from the coupling of 2-biphenylboronic acid with benzoquinones as a result of 2-fold Michael additions. The substrate scopes were found to be broad with up to 99% yield under air-tolerant conditions.

Abstract
The direct difunctionalization of alkenes is an effective way to construct multiple C-C bonds in one-pot using a single functional group. The regioselective dicarbofunctionalization of alkenes is therefore an important area of research to rapidly obtain complex organic molecules. Herein, we report a palladium-catalyzed γ,γ'-diarylation of free alkenyl amines through interrupted chain walking for the synthesis of Z-selective alkenyl amines. Notably, while 1,3-dicarbofunctionalization of allyl groups is well precedented, the present disclosure allows 1,3-dicarbofunctionalization of highly substituted allylamines to give highly Z-selective trisubsubstituted olefin products. This cascade reaction operates via an unprotected amine-directed Mizoroki-Heck (MH) pathway featuring a β-hydride elimination to selectively chain walk to furnish a new terminal olefin which then generates the cis-selective alkenyl amines around the sterically crowded allyl moiety. This operationally simple protocol is applicable to a variety of cyclic, branched, and linear secondary and tertiary alkenylamines, and has a broad substrate scope with regard to the arene coupling partner as well. Mechanistic studies have been performed to help elucidate the mechanism, including the presence of a likely unproductive side C-H activation pathway.

Abstract
The RhIII -catalyzed allylic C-H alkynylation of non-activated terminal alkenes leads selectively to linear 1,4-enynes at room-temperature. The catalytic system tolerates a wide range of functional groups without competing functionalization at other positions. Similarly, the vinylic C-H alkynylation of α,β- and β,γ- unsaturated amides gives conjugated Z-1,3-enynes and E-enediynes.

Abstract
A tremendous upsurge has been seen in the recent decade for the proximal and remote functionalization of activated and unactivated substrates via palladium redox pathways. This feature article discusses some of the recent reports on direct as well as indirect C(sp3)-H functionalization via cross-coupling reactions under palladium catalysis. Activated substrates (possessing acidic C(sp3)-H) including enones, ketones, aldehydes, silylenol ethers, esters, silyl ketene acetals, amides, cyano, α-amino esters, and O-carbamates, capable of undergoing cross-coupling reactions at the α-, β-, γ-, δ- and ε-positions, will be discussed. To overcome the challenging task of achieving regioselectivity, a variety of innovative modifications have been reported. The reports of C-H activations based on directing group, and as native functionality have been illustrated at the β-, γ- and δ-positions. Substrates such as α-amino esters, carbonyls, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, afford site-selective C(sp3)-H functionalization via varied-sized reactive metallacycles and are a unique class of substrates whose C(sp3)-H functionalizations were earlier considered as very difficult.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed organometallic transformations of free amines are often unsuccessful due to side reactions, such as oxidation, that can occur. However, the ability to furnish the free amine products from these reactions is important for improving the utility and sustainability of these processes, especially for accessing their potential as medicinal and agrochemical agents. Notably, the 3,3-diarylallylamine motif is prevalent in a variety of biologically relevant structures, yet there are few catalytic approaches to their synthesis, and none involving the free amine. Herein, we describe a simple protocol for the arylation of cinnamylamines and the diarylation of terminal allylamines to generate a diverse group of 3,3-diarylallylamine products using a PdII precatalyst. Key features of the method are the ability to access relatively mild conditions that facilitate a broad substrate scope as well as direct diarylation of terminal allylamine substrates. In addition, several complex and therapeutically relevant molecules are included to demonstrate the utility of the transformation.
