Abstract
Our study unveils a pioneering methodology that effectively distributes Pd species within a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8). We demonstrate that Pd can be encapsulated within ZIF-8 as atomically dispersed Pd species that function as an excited-state transition metal catalyst for promoting carbon-carbon (C-C) cross-couplings at room temperature using visible light as the driving force. Furthermore, the same material can be reduced at 250 °C, forming Pd metal nanoparticles encapsulated in ZIF-8. This catalyst shows high rates and selectivity for carbon dioxide hydrogenation to methanol under industrially relevant conditions (250 °C, 50 bar): 7.46 molmethanol molmetal -1 h-1 and >99 %. Our results demonstrate the correlations of the catalyst structure with the performances at experimental and theoretical levels.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative/decarboxylative phosphorylation of aryl acrylic acids with P(III)-nucleophiles via the Michaelis-Arbuzov rearrangement for the synthesis of β-ketophosphine oxides, β-ketophosphinates, and β-ketophosphonates is reported. The present reaction could be conducted effectively without the use of a ligand and a base. Various kinds of aryl acrylic acids and P(III)-nucleophiles are tolerated in the transformation, generating the desired β-keto-organophosphorus compounds as a valuable class of phosphorus-containing intermediates with good to excellent yields. In addition, the possible mechanism and kinetic studies for the reaction have been explored by step-by-step control experiments and competitive experiments, and the results proved that this transformation may follow second-order chemical kinetics as well as involve a radical process.

Abstract
We describe here the development of a visible light driven nickel carbonylation catalyst. The combination of the large bite-angle Xantphos ligand with nickel(0) generates a catalyst capable of activating alkyl halides toward carbonylation at ambient temperature in the presence of blue light irradiation, and the reductive elimination of high energy acid chloride products. Unlike classical carbonylations, where the coordination of carbon monoxide inhibits the reactivity of earth abundant nickel catalysts, a CO-associated nickel is found to be the active catalyst in the reaction. Coupling the build-up of acid chlorides with nucleophile addition can be used to access various amides, esters and thioesters, including those of sterically encumbered substrates or with metal-reactive functionalities.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of amines toward the synthesis of oxalamides has been established around 30 years ago and it usually needs the presence of (over)stoichiometric amounts of oxidant. In this work, the first transformation of this type in which the oxidant was replaced by visible light is described. The new approach uses a simple robust Pd complex, which can even be partially recycled. A mechanistic reason is provided and supported by control experiments and EPR studies, showing that PdI was formed and Pd0 was the active species. Both nitrogen- and the intermediate acyl radical can be detected. Moreover, the formation of hydrogen was confirmed by gas GC.

Abstract
Herein, a conceptually distinct approach was developed that allowed for the dicarbofunctionalization of alkynes at room temperature using simple, bench-stable alkyl iodides and a second molecule of alkyne as coupling partner. Specifically, the photochemical activation of palladium complexes enabled this strategic dicarbofunctionalization via addition of alkyl radicals from secondary and tertiary alkyl iodides and formation of an intermediate palladium vinyl complex that could undergo subsequent Sonogashira reaction with a second alkyne molecule. This alkylation-alkynylation sequence allowed the one-step synthesis of 1,3-enynes including heteroarenes and biologically active compounds with high efficiency without exogenous photosensitizers or oxidants and now opens up pathways towards cascade reactions via photochemical palladium catalysis.

Abstract
The dealkenylative alkenylation of alkene C(sp3 )-C(sp2 ) bonds has been an unexplored area for C-C bond formation. Herein 64 examples of β-alkylated styrene derivatives, synthesized through the reactions of readily accessible feedstock olefins with β-nitrostyrenes by ozone/FeII -mediated radical substitutions, are reported. These reactions proceed with good efficiencies and high stereoselectivities under mild reaction conditions and tolerate an array of functional groups. Also demonstrated is the applicability of the strategy through several synthetic transformations of the products, as well as the syntheses of the natural product iso-moracin and the drug (E)-metanicotine.

Abstract
A mild visible-light-induced Pd-catalyzed intramolecular C-H arylation of amides is reported. The method operates by cleavage of a C(sp2 )-O bond, leading to hybrid aryl Pd-radical intermediates. The following 1,5-hydrogen atom translocation, intramolecular cyclization, and rearomatization steps lead to valuable oxindole and isoindoline-1-one motifs. Notably, this method provides access to products with readily enolizable functional groups that are incompatible with traditional Pd-catalyzed conditions.

Abstract
Palladium catalysis induced by visible light is an emerging field of catalysis. In contrast to classical reactions catalyzed by Pd complexes in the ground state, which mostly proceed through two-electron redox processes, the mechanisms of these new methods based on photoexcited Pd complexes usually operate through transfer of a single electron. Such processes lead to putative hybrid Pd/radical species, which exhibit both radical and classical Pd-type reactivity. This Minireview highlights the recent progress in this rapidly growing area.

Abstract
A dual catalytic protocol for the direct arylation of non-activated C(sp3 )-H bonds has been developed. Upon photochemical excitation, the excited triplet state of a diaryl ketone photosensitizer abstracts a hydrogen atom from an aliphatic C-H bond. This inherent reactivity was exploited for the generation of benzylic radicals which subsequently enter a nickel catalytic cycle, accomplishing the benzylic arylation.
