Abstract
An efficient copper-catalyzed synthesis of (annelated) benzimidazoles is reported. This transformation is based on a simple and straightforward one-pot sequence involving a copper-catalyzed cross coupling between o-haloanilines and lactams/amides followed by a subsequent cyclization under acidic conditions. A variety of (annelated) benzimidazoles could be easily obtained in high yields from readily available starting materials, and this procedure could be further applied to the synthesis of the antihypertensive blockbuster drug telmisartan.

Abstract
Urease is a kind of enzyme which could be found in various bacteria, fungi, plants, and algae, which can quickly catalyze the hydrolysis of urea into ammonia and carbon dioxide. With the ammonia concentration increasing, the activity of Helicobacter pylori has got an obvious enhancement and leads to mucosal damage in the stomach, gastroduodenal infection, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer. The infectious diseases caused by Helicobacter pylori can be controlled to a certain extent by inhibiting urease activity with urease inhibitors. Hence, studies of urease inhibitors have attracted great attention all over the world and a variety of effective urease inhibitors have been synthesized in recent years. In this review, we will draw summaries for these inhibitors including urease inhibitory activity, inhibition kinetics, structure-activity relationship, and molecular docking. The collected information is expected to provide rational guidance and effective strategy to develop novel, potent, and safe urease inhibitors for better practical applications in the future.

Abstract
AbstractBenzimidazole is an important heterocycle that is widely researched and utilized by the pharmaceutical industry and is one of the five most commonly used five-membered aromatic heterocyclic compounds approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. In view of their wide-ranging bioactivities, systems containing benzimidazole as one of the moieties occupy a special place among other benzimidazole derivatives. Since 2010, many improved synthetic strategies have been developed for the construction of hetaryl- and arylbenzimidazole molecular scaffolds under environmentally benign conditions. Abstract
A facile, one-pot, and proficient method was developed for the production of various 2-arylaminobenzimidazoles. This methodology is based for the first time on a copper catalyst promoted domino C-N cross-coupling reaction for the generation of 2-arylaminobenzimidazoles. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the synthetic pathway involves a copper-based desulphurization/nucleophilic substitution and a subsequent domino intra and intermolecular C-N cross-coupling reactions. Some of the issues typically encountered during the synthesis of 2-arylaminobezimidazoles, including the use of expensive catalytic systems and the low reactivity of bromo precursors, were addressed using this newly developed copper-catalyzed method. The reaction procedure is simple, generally with excellent substrate tolerance, and provides good to high yields of the desired products.

Abstract
In general, enantioselective C-H functionalization of N-monosubstituted anilines is a highly challenging task owing to the competitive chemoselective N-H bond insertion reactions. In this paper, we reported a direct highly chemo-, site-, and enantioselective para C-H aminoalkylation of N-monosubstituted aniline derivatives with isatin-derived ketimines in the presence of chiral phosphoric acids (CPAs) and offered a practical strategy for para asymmetric C-H functionalization of anilines containing N-H bonds.

Abstract
An organocatalytic method for the modular synthesis of diverse N-aryl and N-alkyl azaheterocycles (indoles, oxindoles, benzimidazoles, and quinoxalinediones) is reported. The method employs a small-ring organophosphorus-based catalyst (1,2,2,3,4,4-hexamethylphosphetane P-oxide) and a hydrosilane reductant to drive the conversion of ortho-functionalized nitroarenes into azaheterocycles through sequential intermolecular reductive C-N cross coupling with boronic acids, followed by intramolecular cyclization. This method enables the rapid construction of azaheterocycles from readily available building blocks, including a regiospecific approach to N-substituted benzimidazoles and quinoxalinediones.

Abstract
Diphenyl ethers (DPE) and its analogs have exhibited excellent potential for therapeutic and industrial applications. Since the 19th century, intensive research is perpetuating on the synthetic routes and biological properties of DPEs. Few well-known DPEs are Nimesulide, Fenclofenac, Triclosan, Sorafenib, MK-4965, and MK-1439 which have shown the potential of this moiety as a lead scaffold for different pharmacological properties. In this review, we recapitulate the diverse synthetic route of DPE moiety inclusive of merits and demerits over the classical synthetic route and how this moiety sparked an interest in researchers to discern the SAR (Structure Activity Relationship) for the development of diversified biological properties of DPEs such as antimicrobial, antifungal, antiinflammatory & antiviral activities.

Abstract
The abundance of Cu-contaminated effluents and the serious risk of contamination of the aquatic systems combine to provide strong motivating factors to tackle this environmental problem. The treatment of polluted effluents by rhizofiltration and biosorption is an interesting ecological alternative. Taking advantage of the remarkable ability of the selected plants to bioconcentrate copper into roots, these methods have been exploited for the decontamination of copperrich effluents. Herein, we present an overview on the utility of the resulted copper-rich biomass for the preparation of novel bio-sourced copper-based catalysts for copper-mediated reactions: from the bioaccumulation of copper in plant, to the preparation and full analysis of the new Eco-Cu catalysts, and their application in selected key reactions. The hydrolysis of a thiophosphate, an Ullmanntype coupling leading to N- and O-arylated compounds, and a CuAAC “click” reaction, all performed under green and environmentally friendly conditions, will be described.

Abstract
Various 2-amino-3-cyanoindoles are synthesized through copper catalyzed intramolecular N-arylations of ketene aminals at room temperature for the first time with 60-99% yields within 0.1-2 h. Controlled regioselective N-arylations of unsymmetrical ketene aminals are also studied. Further, a new double heteroannulation approach is demonstrated for the synthesis of 11-aminoindolo[2,3- b]quinolines from acyclic and nonheterocyclic precursors.

Abstract
A highly efficient, clean, and simple procedure for the synthesis of a privilege imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine scaffold from 2-chloro-3-nitropyridine in combination with environmentally benign H2O-IPA as a green solvent is presented. The scope of the novel method has been demonstrated through the tandem sequence of SNAr reaction with substituted primary amines followed by the in situ nitro group reduction and subsequent heteroannulation with substituted aromatic aldehydes to obtain functionalized imidazo[4,5-b]pyridines with only one chromatographic purification step. The synthesis pathway appears to be green, simple, and superior compared with other already reported procedures, with the high abundance of reagents and great ability in expanding the structural diversity.

Pd-catalyzed
cross-coupling reactions that form C–N bonds
have become useful methods to synthesize anilines and aniline derivatives,
an important class of compounds throughout chemical research. A key
factor in the widespread adoption of these methods has been the continued
development of reliable and versatile catalysts that function under
operationally simple, user-friendly conditions. This review provides
an overview of Pd-catalyzed N-arylation reactions found in both basic
and applied chemical research from 2008 to the present. Selected examples
of C–N cross-coupling reactions between nine classes of nitrogen-based
coupling partners and (pseudo)aryl halides are described for the synthesis
of heterocycles, medicinally relevant compounds, natural products,
organic materials, and catalysts.
