Abstract
LGa(P2 OC)cAAC 2 features a 1,2-diphospha-1,3-butadiene unit with a delocalized π-type HOMO and a π*-type LUMO according to DFT calculations. [LGa(P2 OC)cAAC][K(DB-18-c-6)] 3[K(DB-18-c-6] containing the 1,2-diphospha-1,3-butadiene radical anion 3⋅- was isolated from the reaction of 2 with KC8 and dibenzo-18-crown-6. 3 reacted with [Fc][B(C6 F5 )4 ] (Fc=ferrocenium) to 2 and with TEMPO to [L-H Ga(P2 OC)cAAC][K(DB-18-c-6)] 4[K(DB-18-c-6] containing the 1,2-diphospha-1,3-butadiene anion 4- . The solid state structures of 2, 3K(DB-18-c-6], and 4[K(DB-18-c-6] were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (sc-XRD).

Abstract
Modulating the electronic structures of main group element compounds is crucial to control their chemical reactivity. Herein we report on the synthesis, frontier orbital modulation, and one-electron oxidation of two L(X)Ga-substituted diphosphenes [L(X)GaP]2 (X = Cl 2a, Br 2b; L = HC[C(Me)N(Ar)]2, Ar = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3). Photolysis of L(Cl)GaPCO 1 gave [L(Cl)GaP]22a, which reacted with Me3SiBr with halide exchange to [L(Br)GaP]22b. Reactions with MeNHC (MeNHC = 1,3,4,5-tetramethylimidazol-2-ylidene) gave the corresponding carbene-coordinated complexes L(X)GaPP(MeNHC)Ga(X)L (X = Cl 3a, Br 3b). DFT calculations revealed that the carbene coordination modulates the frontier orbitals (i.e. HOMO/LUMO) of diphosphenes 2a and 2b, thereby affecting the reactivity of 3a and 3b. In marked contrast to diphosphenes 2a and 2b, the cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the carbene-coordinated complexes each show one reversible redox event at E 1/2 = -0.65 V (3a) and -0.36 V (3b), indicating their one-electron oxidation to the corresponding radical cations as was confirmed by reactions of 3a and 3b with the [FeCp2][B(C6F5)4], yielding the radical cations [L(X)GaPP(MeNHC)Ga(X)L]B(C6F5)4 (X = Cl 4a, Br 4b). The unpaired spin in 4a (79%) and 4b (80%) is mainly located at the carbene-uncoordinated phosphorus atoms as was revealed by DFT calculations and furthermore experimentally proven in reactions with n Bu3SnH, yielding the diphosphane cations [L(X)GaPHP(MeNHC)Ga(X)L]B(C6F5)4 (X = Cl 5a, Br 5b). Compounds 2-5 were fully characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy as well as by single crystal X-ray diffraction (sc-XRD), and compounds 4a and 4b were further studied by EPR spectroscopy, while their bonding nature was investigated by DFT calculations.

Abstract
Radical species are significant in modern chemistry. Their unique chemical bonding and novel physicochemical properties play significant roles not only in fundamental chemistry, but also in materials science. Main group element radicals are usually transient due to their high reactivity. Highly stable radicals are often stabilized by π-delocalization, sterically demanding ligands, carbenes and weakly coordinating anions in recent years. This review presents the recent advances in the synthesis, characterization, reactivity and physical properties of isolable main group element radicals.

Abstract
In this work, eight alkali metal complexes with 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide ligands were prepared and characterized by X-ray single-crystal structural analysis and NMR spectroscopy. Their structures showed varied coordination motifs: (i) a dimeric 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide lithium complex with exo-bidentate bridging coordination (4) consists of two lithium atoms that are linked via two μ2-bridging, κN,κN'-coordinated ligands; (ii) the polymeric chain 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide potassium complex (5) showed an ion-bearing stair-shaped chain structure running through axis a, where the steps are η2 interactions, and there is a transition platform between every two stairs; (iii) the polymeric chain 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide potassium complex (6) also presented a polymeric chain structure in the solid state but displayed a head-to-tail arrangement of two 1,2-diaza-4-phospholides; (iv) in comparison to 6, the 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide sodium complex (7) displayed a tetrameric structure, in which the sodium ions are arranged in a distorted tetrahedral fashion and each of them occupies a vertex of the tetrahedron; (v) the polymeric chain 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide potassium complex (8) presented a solvent-free chain structure, in which potassium ions each is η5-bonded by two 1,2-diaza-4-phospholides and η2-coordinated by another, consisting of a stair-shaped chain structure running through axis a but without significant intermolecular contacts between the adjacent stairs in comparison to that of 5; (vi) the polymeric chain 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide sodium complex (9) presented a solvent-free chain structure, in which sodium ions each is η1(N),η2(N,N),η1(P)-bonded by three 1,2-diaza-4-phospholides, consisting of a chain structure running through axis a; and (vii) the treatment complex 8 with elemental sulphur or selenium in the presence of crown ether gave rare thiophosphonato potassium [η3(S,P,S)-3,5-tBu2dp-(μ-K)(S2)([18]crown-6)] (10) or a selenophosphonato potassium [η3(Se,P,Se)-3,5-tBu2dp-(μ-K)(Se2)([18]crown-6)] (11). Both of the complexes crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pnma as pale-yellow (or red) crystals. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed 10 or 11 as a terminal complex with the η1,η1-X,X-coordination mode (X = S and Se). The 1H DOSY NMR spectroscopy study of the species 8 in DMSO-d6 suggested that polymeric complexes (4-9) in the solid state should dissociate into the related monomers in the solutions when the donor solvents were used.

Abstract
Abstract
Organometallic complexes of neodymium have unique coordinating ability to form both micro and macromolecules as well as metal-based polymers. These complexes have been reported in different fields and play a tremendous role in luminescence, catalytic, biological and magnetic applications. So, the current study will comprise all possible routes for the synthesis of organometallic complexes of neodymium. Neodymium complexes have been synthesized of single, double, triple and tetra linkages with H, C, N, O as well as S, B, and X. The detailed synthetic routes have been classified into four categories but in brief, neodymium forms complexes by reacting metal chloride, nitrate or oxide (hydrated or dehydrated) as precursor along with appropriate ligand. Most applied solvents for neodymium complexes were Toluene and THF. These complexes required a range of temperature based on the nature of complexes as well as linkages. The authors have surveyed the research work published through 2011–2020 and provide a comprehensive overview to understand the synthetic routes of organometallic complexes of neodymium.

Abstract
The 1,2-diaza-4-phospholide (dp-) dipotassium ate complexes of chromium(ii) {[(η1-N-3,5-tBu2dp)4Cr][(η5-(N,N,C,C,P))2-K(η1-O-THF)2]2} (5) and {[(η1-N-3,5-Ph2dp)4Cr][(η5-(N,N,C,C,P))2-K(η1-O-THF)2]2}∞ (6) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analysis. Complex 5 with a near-square planar geometry at the chromium(ii) ion was unambiguously characterized by the high field electron paramagnetic resonance (HF-EPR) technique and magnetic measurements, revealing that it is a field-induced single-molecule magnet (SMM).

Abstract
A synthetic strategy for the 2-phospha-1,3-butadiene derivatives [{(IPr)C(Ph)}P(cAACMe)] (3a) and [{(IPr)C(Ph)}P(cAACCy)] (3b) (IPr = C{(NDipp)CH}2, Dipp = 2,6-iPr2C6H3; cAACMe = C{(NDipp)CMe2CH2CMe2}; cAACCy = C{(NDipp)CMe2CH2C(Cy)}, Cy = cyclohexyl) containing a C

C–PC framework has been established. Compounds 3a and 3b have a remarkably small HOMO–LUMO energy gap (3a: 5.09; 3b: 5.05 eV) with a very high-lying HOMO (−4.95 eV for each). Consequently, 3a and 3b readily undergo one-electron oxidation with the mild oxidizing agent GaCl3 to afford radical cations [{(IPr)C(Ph)}P(cAACR)]GaCl4 (R = Me 4a, Cy 4b) as crystalline solids. The main UV-vis absorption band for 4a and 4b is red-shifted with respect to that of 3a and 3b, which is associated with the SOMO related transitions. The EPR spectra of compounds 4a and 4b each exhibit a doublet due to coupling of the unpaired electron with the 31P nucleus. Further one-electron removal from the radical cations 4a and 4b is also feasible with GaCl3, affording the dications [{(IPr)C(Ph)}P(cAACR)](GaCl4)2 (R = Me 5a, Cy 5b) as yellow crystals. The molecular structures of compounds 3–5 have been determined by X-ray diffraction and analyzed by DFT calculations. The 2-phospha-1,3-butadiene derivatives 3 are readily accessible by reduction of 2 with Mg. Sequential one-electron oxidation of 3 with GaCl3 leads to the formation of radical cations 4 and dications 5 as crystalline solids.![]()

Abstract
The divinyldiarsene radical cations [{(NHC)C(Ph)}As]2 (GaCl4 ) (NHC=IPr: C{(NDipp)CH}2 3; SIPr: C{(NDipp)CH2 }2 4; Dipp=2,6-iPr2 C6 H3 ) and dications [{(NHC)C(Ph)}As]2 (GaCl4 )2 (NHC=IPr 5; SIPr 6) are readily accessible as crystalline solids on sequential one-electron oxidation of the corresponding divinyldiarsenes [{(NHC)C(Ph)}As]2 (NHC=IPr 1; SIPr 2) with GaCl3 . Compounds 3-6 have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, EPR/NMR spectroscopy, and UV/vis absorption spectroscopy as well as DFT calculations. The sequential removal of one electron from the HOMO, that is mainly the As-As π-bond, of 1 and 2 leads to successive elongation of the As=As bond and contraction of the C-As bonds from 1/2→3/4→5/6. The UV/vis spectrum of 3 and 4 each exhibits a strong absorption in the visible region associated with SOMO-related transitions. The EPR spectrum of 3 and 4 each shows a broadened septet owing to coupling of the unpaired electron with two 75 As (I=3/2) nuclei.

Abstract
Treatment of Cp3Ln (Ln = Yb, Y) with 5-R3-6-R1-2-R2-1H-1,3-benzazaphosphole (HBp) (HBp1 (1a): R1 = H, R2 = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2, R3 = Me; HBp2(1b): R1 = Me, R2 = C6H5, R3 = H; HBp3(1c): R1 = R3 = H, R2 = C6H5) at room temperature gives the crystalline 1 : 1 Lewis acid-base adducts [(η1(p)-HBp)LnCp3] (2a-d) [Ln = Yb: Bp = Bp1 (2a), Bp2 (2b), Bp3 (2c); Ln = Y: Bp2 (2d)] with Ln-P donor bonds in good yields. Heating 2a-c in toluene leads to the liberation of one molecule of CpH to afford the corresponding N-bonded complexes [Cp2YbBp] (Bp = Bp1 (3a), Bp2 (3b), Bp3 (3c)). Interestingly, the P atom of complexes 3a-c can also be further coordinated to another Lewis acid such as Cp3Yb and B(C6F5)3 to give the adducts [Cp2Yb(μ-η1(N):η2(C,C):η1(P)-Bp)YbCp3] (Bp = Bp1 (4a), Bp2 (4b), Bp3 (4c)) and [Cp2Yb(μ-η1(N):η2(C,C):η1(P)-Bp)B(C6F5)3] (Bp = Bp1 (5a), Bp2 (5b), Bp3 (5c)), respectively. The molecular structures of complexes 2a, 4b-4c and 5c are confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Deprotonation of cationic azo dyes results in the formation of aminyl biradicals.
The synthesis of the industrially important polymer parylene is achieved by polymerization of p-quinodimethane (p-QDM). The polymerization is thought to proceed via a biradical p-QDM dimer, but isolation or characterization of such a biradical has remained elusive. Here, we describe the synthesis of an aza-analogue of this p-QDM dimer. The biradical is formed by base-induced dimerization of an azoimidazolium dye. Due to the presence of sterically shielded aminyl radicals instead of terminal H2Ċ groups, the stability of this dimer is sufficient for analyses by ESR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. A similar Csp3–Csp3 coupling was observed for an azotriazolium dye, suggesting that base-induced C–C coupling reactions can be realized for different types of azo dyes.

Abstract
A persistent dipotassium 3,5-diphenyl-1,2,4-diazaphospholide dianion radical {K+2[(3,5-Ph2dp)]˙2-} (2) was synthesized and investigated by EPR analysis and magnetic susceptibility measurement, and it can be used as a transfer agent for the preparation of an unusual 1,2-diaza-4-phosphine ruthenocene (4) with exclusive σ(P)-coordination. A plausible mechanism for the formation of 4 was proposed as one that involves a reactive radical intermediate {K+[(η5-CpMe5Ru)(σ(P),σ(C)-(3,5-Ph2dp)˙]-)} (K+[5A˙]-) with σ(P)-coordination due to the high spin density (SD) at the phosphorus (σ2λ3) atom.

Abstract
One-electron reduction of SbCl3 with the non-innocent 1,2,4-diazaphospholide anion [3,5-R2dp](-) produced straightforwardly three unprecedented paddlewheel distibines [L2(Sb-Sb)L2] (L = η(1),η(1)-3,5-R2dp, R = tBu (4), iPr (5α, 5β), or Cy (6)) with very short Sb-Sb bond lengths (2.6691(8)-2.7451(8) Å). The novel structures were rationalized by DFT calculations.

Abstract
A few heteroleptic, charge-separated heterobimetallic, and polymeric alkali metalate complexes of 1,2,4-diazaphospholide lanthanum(iii), cerium(iii), neodymium(iii), praseodymium(iii), and samarium(iii) were simply prepared via the metathesis reaction of MCl3 (THF)m (m = 1-2) and K[3,5-R2dp] ([3,5-R2dp](-) = 3,5-di-substituent-1,2,4-diazaphospholide; R = tBu, Ph) in a varied ratio (1 : 3, 1 : 4, and 1 : 5, respectively) at room temperature in tetrahydrofuran. All the complexes were fully characterized by (1)H, (13)C{(1)H}, (31)P{(1)H}, IR, and X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis despite their paramagnetism (excluding La(iii) complexes). The structures of the complexes were found to feature varied coordination modes. The magnetic properties of several compounds were studied by magnetic susceptibility, and the complexes presented the magnetic moments close to or lower than the theoretical values for the free ions in the trivalent oxidation states (Pr(3+), Nd(3+)).

Abstract
Abstract
Three chromium(III) 1,2,4-diazaphospholide complexes were prepared: 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2,4-diazaphospholide chromium(III) dichloride [(η
2-3,5-tBu2dp)Cr(THF)2Cl2] (1), 3,5-di-phenyl-1,2,4-diazaphospholide chromium(III) dichloride [(η
2-3,5-Ph2dp)Cr(THF)2Cl2] (2), and 2,6-bis(N-1,2,4-diazaphosphol-1-yl)pyridine chromium(III) trichloride {[2,6-bis(N-1,2,4-diazaphosphol-1-yl)pyridine]CrCl3} (3). X-ray diffraction analysis has shown that these six-coordinate complexes each have a pseudo-octahedral configuration. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy data for complex 1 for the paramagnetic S = 3/2 system (d
3 electron configuration) confirm a Cr(III) center in the octahedral coordination environment. The magnetic susceptibility of complex 1 followed the Curie–Weiss law well between 25 and 300 K. The magnetic moment of 1 was found to be close to the spin-only magnetic moment expected for three unpaired electrons (3.87 μB).

Abstract
Two 1,2,4-diazaphospholide complexes of [Ti(η(2)-3,5-Ph(2)dp)(4)] and paramagnetic [Ti(η(2)-3,5-tBu(2)dp)(3)] were prepared by the reaction of tetrakis(dimethylamido)titanium(IV) with 3,5-diphenyl-1,2,4-diazaphophole, H[3,5-Ph(2)dp], or by the treatment of 3,5-tert-butyl-1,2,4-diazaphopholide potassium, K[3,5-tBu(2)dp], with titanium trichloride. Complexes can be viewed as the core of P(σ(2)λ(3))-functionalized metallodendrimers, in which the metal atoms are exclusively η(2)(N,N) bonding to the 1,2,4-diazaphospholides while P atoms (σ(2)λ(3)) with electron lone pairs are located on the periphery of the molecules.
