Abstract
Solar-thermal water evaporation is a promising strategy for clean water production, which needs the development of solar-thermal conversion materials with both high efficiency and high stability. Herein, we reported an ultra-stable cobalt(II)-organic assembly NKU-123 with light-generated radicals, exhibiting superior photothermal conversion efficiency and high stability. Under the irradiation of 808 nm light, the temperature of NKU-123 rapidly increases from 25.5 to 215.1 °C in 6 seconds. The solar water evaporator based on NKU-123 achieves a high solar-thermal water evaporation rate of 1.442 and 1.299 kg m-2 h-1 under 1-sun irradiation with a water evaporation efficiency of 97.8 and 87.9 % for pure water and seawater, respectively. A detailed mechanism study revealed that the formation of light-generated radicals leads to an increase of spin density of NKU-123 for enhancing the photothermal effect, which provides insights into the design of highly efficient photothermal materials.

Abstract
Organic radicals feature unpaired electrons, and these compounds may have applications in biomedical technology and as materials for solar energy conversion. However, unpaired electrons tend to pair up (to form chemical bonds), making radicals unstable and hampering their applications. Here we report an organic radical system that is stable even at 350 °C, surpassing the upper temperature limit (200 °C) observed for other organic radicals. The system reported herein features a sulfur-rich organic linker that facilitates the formation of the radical centers; on the solid-state level, the molecules are crystallized with Eu(III) ions to form a 3D framework featuring stacks of linker molecules. The stacking is, however, somewhat loose and allows the molecules to wiggle and transform into sulfur-stabilized radicals at higher temperatures. In addition, the resulting solid framework remains crystalline, and it is stable to water and air. Moreover, it is black and features strong broad absorption in the visible and near IR region, thereby enhancing both photothermal conversion and solar-driven water evaporation. Organic radicals have potential applications in a variety of fields, including energy conversion. Here, the authors report Eu-based coordination polymers that enable the stabilization of organic radicals up to 350 °C; these systems can be used to enhance solar steam generation.

Abstract
A powerful approach to generate photocatalysts for the highly selective reduction of nitrobenzene using light as the driving force is a combination of photosensitizers and electron-storable components in a cooperative photocatalysis fashion. Herein, a new precious metal-free photocatalyst, {ZnW-TPT}, was prepared by incorporating a Zn-substituted monovacant Keggin polyanion [SiZnW11O39]6- and a photoactive organic bridging link 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT) into a framework. In this structure, the direct coordination bond between [SiZnW11O39]6- and the TPT ligand and the π-π interactions between TPT molecules help separate and migrate photogenerated carriers, which improves the photocatalytic activity of {ZnW-TPT}. The photoelectrochemical properties of {ZnW-TPT} were well studied by solid UV-vis absorption, fluorescence, transient photocurrent response, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests. {ZnW-TPT} efficiently converts using hydrazine hydrate with 99% conversion and 99% selectivity for anilines under mild conditions.

Abstract
Developing new photocatalysts for reduction of nitroarenes to anilines under mild conditions is very significant. Herein, a new polyoxometalate-based metal-organic framework (POMOF), {[Co(H2O)]2[Co2(H2O)6(TPT)][Co(TPT)PW11O39]}·3H2O·TPT (namely, CoW-TPT, TPT = 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine), was prepared by incorporating Co(II)-substituted Keggin-type anions [PCoW11O39]5- and a photosensitizer (TPT) into a framework. In this structure, the direct coordination bond between [PCoW11O39]5- and TPT ligand and π···π interactions between TPT molecules are beneficial for the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers, thus improving the photocatalytic activity of CoW-TPT. The combination of both photosensitizer TPT and the electron-storable component [PCoW11O39]5- in a cooperative photocatalysis fashion is conducive to the photocatalytic multielectron reduction of nitroarenes. CoW-TPT provided a high conversion of 94.71% in the photocatalytic reduction of nitroarenes to anilines utilizing triethanolamine as the proton source and electron donor by sequential proton-coupled electron transfers.

Abstract
Conjugated organic radical polymers with stable radical features are difficult to design because the π conjugation in the polymer backbones makes the radicals readily delocalize and tend to undergo covalent bonding processes. In this work, we report an electronic isolation strategy to design stable porous radical polymers by homocoupling reaction from a meta-position active monomer. The meta linkage ensures less conjugation in the polymer skeletons, localizes the resonant radicals, and prevents them from recombination. The resulting porous radical polymer exhibits exceptional radical characters with ultralow band gap of 0.68 eV, strong yet extended UV/Vis-NIR absorption up to 1800 nm, and high spin density. The above features make the polymer very promising in the photothermal conversion with record-high photothermal temperature increment of ≈∼240 °C and striking solar-driven water evaporation efficiency of 96.8 %. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of electronic isolation of radicals for producing outstanding photothermal materials.

Abstract
Developing new photocatalysts for sulfide oxidation utilizing in situ-generated 1O2 is very significant. Inspired by natural enzymatic processes, we synthesized a mimic sulfite oxidase (SO), {[Co(Mo4O13)(TPT)2]} (CoMo-TPT), by incorporating an isopolymolybdate anion [Mo4O13]2- into a 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT)-based metal-organic framework under mild hydrothermal conditions. In this structure, {Mo4O13} units with intrinsic SO-like catalytic sites are beneficial for the selective oxidation of sulfite and thioether. The ultraviolet-visible spectra of CoMo-TPT exhibited strong absorption from 250 to 650 nm and potential application in the utilization of solar energy. Mott-Schottky measurements indicated that CoMo-TPT is an n-type semiconductor with a LUMO value of -0.70 V (vs NHE) and a HOMO value of 1.39 V. The transient photocurrent responses with strong current density cycles with visible light indicated CoMo-TPT has a high photochemical activity. The lower resistance indicated that CoMo-TPT has a higher efficiency of photoinduced electron and hole separation. CoMo-TPT displayed a high efficiency of 99% and a selectivity of 97.3% in photocatalytic oxidation of sulfides by utilizing in situ-generated 1O2 through a tandem process of formation of H2O2 from O2 followed by catalyzed disproportionation of H2O2.

Abstract
A novel organic molecule, 2,4,6-tris[1-(trimethylamonium)propyl-4-pyridiniumyl]-1,3,5-triazine hexachloride, was developed as a reversible six-electron storage electrolyte for use in an aqueous redox flow battery (ARFB). Physicochemical characterization reveals that the molecule evolves from a radical to a biradical and finally to a quinoid structure upon accepting four electrons. Both the diffusion coefficient and the rate constant were sufficiently high to run a flow battery with low concentration and kinetics polarization losses. In a demonstration unit, the assembled flow battery affords a high specific capacity of 33.0 Ah L-1 and a peak power density of 273 mW cm-2 . This work highlights the rational design of electroactive organics that can manipulate multi-electron transfer in a reversible way, which will pave the way to development of energy-dense, manageable and low-cost ARFBs.

Abstract
Radiation dosimeters displaying conspicuous response of irradiance are highly desirable, owing to the growing demand of monitoring high-energy radiation and environmental exposure. Herein, we present a case of dosimetry based on a discrete nanocluster, [Th6(OH)4(O)4(H2O)6](TPC)8(HCOO)4∙4DMF∙H2O (Th-SINAP-100), by judiciously incorporating heavy Th6 polynuclear centers as radiation attenuator and organic linkers as photo-responsive sensor. Interestingly, dual-module photochromic transitions upon multiple external stimuli including UV, β-ray, and γ-ray are integrated into this single material. The striking color change, and more significantly, the visible color transition of luminescence in response to accumulating radiation dose allow an on-site quantitative platform for naked-eye detection of ionization radiations over a broad range (1-80 kGy). Single crystal X-ray diffraction and density functional theory calculations reveal that the dual-module photochromism can be attributed to the π(TPC) → π*(TPC) intermolecular charge transfer driven by enhanced π-π stacking interaction between the adjacent TPC moieties upon irradiation.

Abstract
The photogeneration of stable radicals is important but still challenging in the field of optical switching, displays, and other devices. Herein, crystalline 9-anthracene carboxylic acid (9-AC) and a mononuclear complex constructed from this ligand were for the first time discovered to show radical-induced photochromism and photomagnetism after Xe lamp light irradiation. This study finds a simple radical-actuated photochromic molecule for constructing a novel system of photochromic materials.

Abstract
Targeted synthesis, through a heteroleptic methodology, has resulted in three types of lanthanide (Ln) coordination polymers (CPs) with tailored dimensionality, tunable photoluminescent colors, and distinct luminescence quenching upon UV and X-ray irradiation. The homoleptic Ln(tpbz)(NO3)2 [CP-1; tpbz = 4-(2,2':6',2″-terpyridin-4'-yl)benzoate] is assembled from Ln cations and bridging tpbz ligands, accompanied by the decoration of NO3- anions, forming a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure. The presence of ancillary dicarboxylate linkers, 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate (bdc) and 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate (tdc), promotes additional bridging between 1D chains to form a two-dimensional layer and a three-dimensional framework for Ln(tpbz)(bdc) (CP-2) and Ln(tpbz)(tdc) (CP-3), respectively. The multicolor and luminescence properties of the obtained CPs were investigated, displaying typical red EuIII-based and green TbIII-based emissions. The SmIII-bearing CP-1-CP-3, however, exhibit diverse ratiometric LnIII- and ligand-based emissions, with the photoluminescent colors varying from pink to orange to cyan. Notably, the TbIII-containing CP-1-CP-3 display distinct luminescence quenching upon continuous exposure to UV and X-ray irradiation. To our best knowledge, CP-2-Tb represents one of the most sensitive UV dosage probes (3.2 × 10-7 J) among all CPs.

Abstract
Preliminary chemical reduction of naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based organic ligands was applied to the synthesis of a porous molecular conductor (PMC) with neutral metal nodes (cobalt(ii) acetylacetonate). The obtained semiconductive PMC (PMC-2) was stable due to the neutral metal nodes, providing an advantage over electrochemical reduction.
