Abstract
Despite the significance of chiral allene skeletons in catalysis, organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry et al., there is a scarcity of reports on axially chiral allenyl phosphorus compounds. Here, we disclosed an efficient and straightforward cascade reaction between ethynyl ketones and phosphine oxides, resulting in a broad array of trisubstituted allenes incorporating a phosphorus moiety in high yields with excellent stereoselectivities facilitated by peptide-mimic phosphonium salt (PPS) catalysis, Additionally, comprehensive series of mechanistic experiments have been conducted to elucidate that this cascade reaction proceeds via an asymmetric Pudovik addition reaction followed by a subsequent phospha-Brook rearrangement that occurs concomitantly with kinetic resolution, representing a stereospecific rearrangement and protonation process facilitating central-to-axial chirality transfer in a cascade manner. We anticipate that our research will pave the way for a promising exploration of novel stereo-induction pattern in the Pudovik addition/phospha-Brook rearrangement cascade reaction.

Abstract
Allenes are important building blocks, and derivatization of products via cycloadditions of allenes could become a powerful strategy for constructing carbocyclic and heterocyclic rings. However, the development of catalytic site-selective and enantioselective cycloaddition reactions of allenes still presents significant challenges. Here, we report chiral π-Cu(II)-complex-catalyzed isomerization of N-(3-butynoyl)-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole to generate N-allenoylpyrazole in situ and subsequent α,β-site-selective and enantioselective [3 + 2], [4 + 2], or [2 + 2] cycloaddition or conjugate addition reactions. The asymmetric environment created by the intramolecular π-Cu(II) interactions provides the corresponding adducts in moderate to high yield with excellent enantioselectivity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first successful method for chiral-Lewis-acid-catalyzed tandem isomerization/α,β-site-selective and enantioselective cycloaddition or conjugate addition reactions of latent non-γ-substituted allenoyl derivative.

Abstract
Herein, we demonstrated heterogeneous and recyclable polystyrene-supported palladium (Pd@PS) nanoparticles (NPs) catalyzed tandem addition and intramolecular aminocarbonylative cyclization approach for the synthesis of potentially bioactive 2-(alkylamino/amino)-3-arylquinazolin-4(3H)-one analogues from 2-iodophenylcarbodiimides employing amines as nucleophiles and oxalic acid as an ex-situ CO alternative. Various cyclic/acyclic primary and secondary amines were employed and selectively produced substituted 2-(alkylamino)-3-arylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones in good to excellent yields. In addition, we extended the developed strategy to fix two ammonium carbamate and oxalic acid as gaseous NH3 and CO sources respectively, for the synthesis of 2-amino-3-arylquinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives. Furthermore, gram scale applicability, diverse substrate scope and high recyclability of the Pd@PS catalyst were the major achievements of the developed protocol.

Abstract
Described here is the de novo design and synthesis of a series of 6H-dipyrido[1,2-e:2',1'-i]purin-6-ones (DPs) as a new class of visible-light photoredox catalysts (PCs). The synthesized DP1-5 showed their λ Abs(max) values in 433-477 nm, excited state redox potentials in 1.15-0.69 eV and -1.41 to -1.77 eV (vs. SCE), respectively. As a representative, DP4 enables the productive guanylation of various amines, including 1°, 2°, and 3°-alkyl primary amines, secondary amines, aryl and heteroaryl amines, amino-nitrile, amino acids and peptides as well as propynylamines and α-amino esters giving diversities in biologically important guanidines and cyclic guanidines. The photocatalytic efficacy of DP4 in the guanylation overmatched commonly used Ir and Ru polypyridyl complexes, and some organic PCs. Other salient merits of this method include broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance, gram-scale synthesis, and versatile late-stage derivatizations that led to a derivative 81 exhibiting 60-fold better anticancer activity against Ramos cells with the IC50 of 0.086 μM than that of clinical drug ibrutinib (5.1 μM).

Abstract
Novel innovative catalytic systems such as hydrogen-bond donors and thiourea hybrid catalysts have been developed for the asymmetric synthesis of biologically important pharmaceuticals and natural products. Benzothiadiazines possess a stronger hydrogen-bond donor ability compared to thioureas and exhibit remarkable catalytic performance for the activation of α,β-unsaturated amides. Hybrid thioureas (bearing an arylboronic acid and an ammonium salt) efficiently promote the hetero-Michael addition to α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids and the O-alkylation of keto enols with 5-chlorofuran-2(5H)-one. These hybrid catalysts enable the first total synthesis of non-racemic avenaol, a noncanonical strigolactone, as well as the asymmetric synthesis of several pharmaceuticals. In addition, this study discovers unique chemical phenomena (i.e., the dual role of benzoic acid as a boron ligand and a proton shuttle, the chirality switch of products by solvent used, and the dynamic kinetic resolution of a racemic electrophile in an SN2-type reaction).

Abstract
Azolium cumulenolates are a special type of intermediates in N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis. They contain elongated linear structures with three contiguous C=C bonds and sterically unhindered α-carbon atoms. These structural features make it difficult to develop enantioselective reactions for these intermediates. Here we disclose the first carbene-catalyzed highly enantioselective addition reactions of azolium cumulenolates. The reaction starts with alkynals as the precursors for azolium cumulenolate intermediates that undergo enantioselective addition to activated ketones. From the same set of substrates, both allene and spirooxindole products can be obtained with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. The allene moieties in our optically enriched products carry rich reactivities and can be transformed to diverse molecules. The spirooxindole scaffolds in our products are important structural motifs in natural products and medicines.

Abstract
A synthesis of the reported antifungal agent (+)-hippolide J is presented. The rapid assembly of the natural product was enabled through implementation of an enantioselective isomerization/[2 + 2]-cycloaddition sequence. Due to the simplicity of the route, >100 mg of the natural product were prepared in a single pass. Anitfungal assays of hippolide J, however, confirmed that it showed no activity against several fungal strains, contrary to the isolation report.

Abstract
Chiral allenes are important structural scaffolds found in many natural products
and drugs, and in addition, they also serve as building blocks for many organic transformations.
The conventional methods for preparing chiral allenes rely on the resolution of
racemic allenes and the chirality transfer between non-racemic propargylic derivatives and
nucleophilic reagents. In recent years, the synthesis of chiral allenes by asymmetric catalysis
has been achieved fruitful results. Among them, enantioselective synthesis of chiral
allenes with chiral organic catalysts is particularly prominent. In this paper, the research
progress of enantioselective synthesis of chiral allenes catalyzed by chiral organic catalysts
in recent years is reviewed, including various reaction systems and synthesis applications.

Abstract
We report a highly enantioselective [3 + 2] annulation between 3-butynoates and β-trifluoromethyl enones, furnishing trifluoromethylated cyclopentenes with three contiguous stereogenic centers in good yields, high diastereoselectivities, and excellent enantioselectivities. A unique catalytic system consisting of a simple amine and a chiral phosphine was devised, and the synergistic play of Lewis basic amine and phosphine was crucial for alkyne isomerization and subsequent cyclization. The protocol disclosed herein allows facile activation of 3-butynoates in phosphine-mediated asymmetric transformations.

Abstract
The general enantioselective synthesis of axially chiral disubstituted allenes from prochiral starting materials remains a long-standing challenge in organic synthesis. Here, we report an efficient enantio- and chemoselective copper hydride catalyzed semireduction of conjugated enynes to furnish 1,3-disubstituted allenes using water as the proton source. This protocol is sufficiently mild to accommodate an assortment of functional groups including keto, ester, amino, halo, and hydroxyl groups. Additionally, applications of this method for the selective synthesis of monodeuterated allenes and chiral 2,5-dihydropyrroles are described.

Abstract
Metal-catalyzed enantioselective construction of the loosening axial allene chirality spreading over three carbon atoms using a chiral ligand is still a significant challenge. In the literature, steric effect of the substrates is the major strategy applied for such a purpose. Herein, we present a general palladium-catalyzed asymmetrization of readily available racemic 2,3-allenylic carbonates with different types of non-substituted and 2-substituted malonates using (R)-(−)-DTBM-SEGPHOS as the preferred ligand to afford 1,3-disubstituted chiral allenes with 90~96% ee. This protocol has been applied to the first enantioselective synthesis of natural product, (R)-traumatic lactone. Control experiments showed that in addition to the chiral ligand, conducting this transformation via Procedure C, which excludes the extensive prior coordination of the allene unit in the starting allene with Pd forming a species without the influence of the chiral ligand, is crucial for the observed high enantioselectivity. Highly enantioselective synthesis of allenes has been relying, so far, on the steric hindrance of substrates. Here the authors achieve excellent stereocontrol in the synthesis of chiral allenes with a palladium-DTBM-SEGPHOS catalytic system in a non-substrate-dependent manner.

Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of ent-[3]-ladderanol is presented. The ladderanes are an interesting class of molecules for their unique structure of fused cyclobutane rings as well as their perceived biological function of organism protection. The route hinges on the development and application of a chirality transfer [2+2] cycloaddition of an allenic ketone and alkene. Further stereocontrolled transformations allowed for completion of the synthesis. The scope of the chirality transfer [2+2] cycloaddition is also presented.

Abstract
The synthesis and the evaluation as organocatalysts of new chiral guanidines derived from benzimidazoles in the enantioselective α-amination of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds using di-t-butylazodicarboxylate as aminating agent is herein disclosed. The catalysts are readily synthesized through the reaction of 2-chlorobezimidazole and a chiral amine in moderate-to-good yields. Among all of them, those derived from (R)-1-phenylethan-1-amine (1) and (S)-1-(2-naphthyl)ethan-1-amine (3) turned out to be the most efficient for such asymmetric transformation, rendering good-to-high yields and moderate-to-good enantioselectivities for the amination products.

Abstract
Intramolecular chirality transfer [2 + 2] cycloaddition of enantiomerically enriched allenoates and alkenes is presented. The use of a chiral catalyst was found to be critical to achieve high levels of diastereoselectivity compared to use of an achiral catalyst. The method developed leads to highly substituted cyclobutanes that would be difficult to prepare by alternative methods.

Abstract
The enantioselective syntheses of axially chiral heterobiaryls were accomplished through the aromatic electrophilic halogenation of 3-(quinolin-8-yl)phenols with bifunctional organocatalysts that control the molecular conformations during successive halogenations. Axially chiral quinoline derivatives, which have rarely been synthesized in an enantioselective catalytic manner, were afforded in moderate-to-good enantioselectivities through bromination, and an analogous protocol also enabled enantioselective iodination. In addition, this catalytic reaction, which allows enantioselective control through the use of mono-ortho-substituted substrates, allowed the asymmetric synthesis of 8-arylquinoline derivatives bearing two different halogen groups in high enantioselectivities.
