Abstract
In this work, we propose a novel approach for extracting Cu and Ni from vegetable oils (which can be expanded to other metals). The method is based on the transference of the analytes to an aqueous acid phase due to the disruption of a three-component solution. The extraction was carried out in two steps. In the first step, a three-component solution was prepared comprising the sample, 1-octanol, and HNO3 solution. Next, the homogeneous system was disrupted by adding 1.0 mL of deionized water, and two phases were formed. The aqueous extract deposited in the bottom of the flask was collected with a micropipette, and Cu and Ni were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS). The developed method presented limits of quantification (LOQ) of 0.25 and 0.17 ng g-1 for Cu and Ni, respectively, and was successfully applied in the analysis of eleven oil samples from different origins.

Abstract
The presence of small molecule contaminants such as mycotoxins and heavy metals in foods and the environment causes a serious threat to human health and huge economic losses. The development of simple, rapid, sensitive, and on-site methods for small molecule pollutant detection is highly demanded. Here, combining the advantages of structure-switchable aptamer-mediated signal conversion and CRISPR/Cas12a-based signal amplification, we developed a CRISPR/Cas12a-amplified aptamer switch assay on a microplate for sensitive small molecule detection. In this assay, a short DNA strand complementary to the aptamer (cDNA) is immobilized on a microplate, which can capture the aptamer-linked active DNA probe (Apt-acDNA) in the sample solution when the target is absent. With the addition of the Cas12a reporter system, the captured Apt-acDNA probes activate Cas12a to indiscriminately cleave fluorescent DNA substrates, producing a high fluorescence signal. When the target is present, the Apt-acDNA probe specifically binds to the target rather than hybridizing with cDNA on the microplate, and the fluorescence signal is reduced. The analytical performance of our method was demonstrated by the detection of two highly toxic pollutants, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and cadmium ion (Cd2+), as examples. The assay exhibited good selectivity and high sensitivity, with detection limits of 31 pM AFB1 and 3.9 nM Cd2+. It also allowed the detection of targets in the actual sample matrix. With the general signal conversion strategy, this method can be used to detect other targets by simply changing the aptamer and cDNA, showing potential practical applications in broad fields.

Abstract
Mycotoxins are toxic compounds that are formed as secondary metabolites by some fungal species that contaminate crops during pre- and postharvest stages. Exposure to mycotoxins can lead to adverse health effects in humans, such as carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, and teratogenicity. Hence, there is a need to develop analytical methods for their determination in vegetable oils that possess high sensitivity and selectivity. In the current review (116 references), the recent developments, current challenges, and perspectives in sample preparation techniques and chromatographic determination are summarized. It is impressive that current sample preparation techniques such as dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME), quick, easy, cheap, rugged, and safe method (QuEChERS) and solid phase extraction (SPE) have exhibited high extraction recoveries and minimal matrix effects. However, a few studies have reported signal suppression or enhancement. Regarding chromatographic techniques, high sensitivity and selectivity have been reported by liquid chromatography coupled to fluorescence detection, tandem mass spectrometry, or high-resolution mass spectrometry. Furthermore, current challenges and perspectives in this field are tentatively proposed.

Abstract
In this work, we developed an environmentally friendly liquid-liquid microextraction method using a natural deep eutectic solvent in combination with liquid chromatography for the simultaneous determination of four mycotoxins (deoxynivalenol, alternariol, ochratoxin A and zearalenone) in edible vegetable oils. A chemometric approach assessed the effect of the operational parameters on the mycotoxin extraction efficiency. The extracts were analyzed by HPLC coupled with a diode array and fluorescence detector. The optimum NADES composition resulted in the highest extraction recoveries, and it was applied to coextract the target mycotoxins in several types of edible vegetable oils without using hazardous solvents or requiring further clean-up. The limits of detection ranged from 0.07 to 300 µg kg-1, and recoveries were close to 100%, except for zearalenone (viz. 35%), with relative standard deviations below 9% in all cases. The proposed method was validated following the European Commission 2002/657/EC and 2006/401/EC.

Abstract
Oil is one of three nutritious elements. The application of omics techniques in the field of oil science and technology is attracted increasing attention. Oilomics, which emerged as an important branch of foodomics, has been widely used in various aspects of oil science and technology. However, there are currently no articles systematically reviewing the application of oilomics. This paper aims to provide a critical overview of the advantages and value of oilomics technology compared to traditional techniques in various aspects of oil science and technology, including oil nutrition, oil processing, oil quality, safety, and traceability. Moreover, this article intends to review major issues in oilomics and give a comprehensive, critical overview of the current state of the art, future challenges and trends in oilomics, with a view to promoting the optimal application and development of oilomics technology in oil science and technology.

Abstract
Unsaturated triglycerides found in food and skin oils are reactive in ambient air. However, the chemical fate of such compounds has not been well characterized in genuine indoor environments. Here, we monitored the aging of oil coatings on glass surfaces over a range of environmental conditions, using mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques. Upon room air exposure (up to 17 ppb ozone), the characteristic ozonolysis products, secondary ozonides, were observed on surfaces near the cooking area of a commercial kitchen, along with condensed-phase aldehydes. In an office setting, ozonolysis is also the dominant degradation pathway for oil films exposed to air. However, for indoor enclosed spaces such as drawers, the depleted air flow makes lipid autoxidation more favorable after an induction period of a few days. Forming hydroperoxides as the major primary products, this radical-mediated peroxidation behavior is accelerated by indoor direct sunlight, but the initiation step in dark settings is still unclear. These results are in accord with radical measurements, indicating that indoor photooxidation facilitates radical formation on surfaces. Overall, many intermediate and end products observed are reactive oxygen species (ROS) that may induce oxidative stress in human bodies. Given that these species can be widely found on both food and household surfaces, their toxicological properties are worth further attention.

Abstract
The concentration of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in vegetable oils using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) was measured. Probabilistic non-carcinogenic risk in consumers was estimated using the target hazard quotient (THQ) and total target hazard quotient (TTHQ) by Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) method. The highest content of PTEs was found in blend oil for As (0.39 ± 0.07 mg/L), in cold-pressed rapeseed oil for Cd and Cu (0.07 ± 0 and 0.40 ± 0.06 mg/L) respectively, in cold-pressed sunflower oil for Fe (0.15 ± 0.10 mg/L), in refined sesame oil for Ni and Pb (0.44 ± 0.07 and 0.65 ± 0.07 mg/L, respectively), and in cold-pressed sunflower and rapeseed oils for Zn (0.19 ± 0.04 mg/L). THQ in adults and children due to individual vegetable oils (cold-pressed and refined vegetable oil) was lower than 1 value. TTHQ in adults and children due to consumption of cold-pressed vegetable oils was 0.05 and 0.26, and also refined vegetable oil was 0.51 and 0.33, respectively. TTHQ due to consumption of both types of oils was less than 1; therefore, the population is not at risk of non-carcinogenicity.

Abstract
Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) are used globally to control pests in the food industry. However, some have been banned due to their toxicity. Although they have been banned, OCPs are still discharged into the environment and persist for long periods of time. Therefore, this review focused on the occurrence, toxicity, and chromatographic determination of OCPs in vegetable oils over the last 22 years (2000-2022) (111 references).Literature search shows that OCPs kill pests by destroying endocrine, teratogenic, neuroendocrine, immune, and reproductive systems. However, only five studies investigated the fate of OCPs in vegetable oils and the outcome revealed that some of the steps involved during oil processing introduce more OCPs. Moreover, direct chromatographic determination of OCPs was mostly performed using online LC-GC methods fitted with oven transfer adsorption desorption interface. While indirect chromatographic determination was favored by QuEChERS extraction technique, gas chromatography frequently coupled to electron capture detection (ECD), gas chromatography in selective ion monitoring mode (SIM), and gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) were the most common techniques used for detection. However, the greatest challenge still faced by analytical chemists is to obtain clean extracts with acceptable extraction recoveries (70-120%). Hence, more research is still required to develop greener and selective extraction methods toward OCPs, thus improving extraction recoveries. Moreover, advanced techniques like gas chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (GC-HRMS) must also be explored. OCPs prevalence in vegetable oils varied greatly in various countries, and concentrations of up to 1500 µg/kg were reported. Additionally, the percentage of positive samples ranged from 1.1 to 97.5% for endosulfan sulfate.

Abstract
Olive oil can be contaminated by fungal toxins; therefore, it is necessary to monitor the incidence of mycotoxins in this oil. In the present study, the pooled prevalence of detectable aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in olive oil was evaluated using systematic review and meta-analysis approach from 1 January 1991 to 31 December 2020 (30 years study). The search was conducted via electronic databases involving Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Agris and Agricola. Synonyms were collected from combination of the MESH, Agrovoc and free text method. After screening and selection process of primary researches, full texts of eligible researches (46 studies) were evaluated and data of the nine studies as included researches were extracted. Random effect model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of AFB1 in olive oil and weighing model of Dersimonian-Laired was applied. Summary measure of mycotoxin prevalence was estimated using Metaprop module of STATA and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using the Binomial Exact Method. Pooled prevalence of AFB1 in olive oils were 32% (95% CI 8-56%) which means that 68% of olive oil were free of detectable contaminants of AFB1. Due to controversy over the results of primary studies, future researches and consequent subgroup analysis based on the main variables affecting the aflatoxins contamination in olive oil are recommended to achieve the conclusive results.

Abstract
In the case of quantitative and qualitative analysis of pesticides in environmental and food samples, it is required to perform a sample pre-treatment process. It allows to minimalize the impact of interferences on the final results, as well as increase the recovery rate. Nowadays, apart from routinely employed sample preparation techniques such as solid-phase extraction (SPE) or solid-phase microextraction (SPME), the application of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) is gaining greater popularity. It is mainly related to their physicochemical properties, sorption capacity and selectivity, thermo-mechanical resistance, as well as a wide range of polymerization techniques allowing to obtain the desired type of sorption materials, adequate to a specific type of pesticide. This paper targets to summarize the most popular and innovative strategies since 2010, associated with the MIPs synthesis and analytical procedures for pesticides determination in environmental and food samples. Application of multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) allows for visualization of the most beneficial analytical procedures in case of changing the priority of each step of analysis (MIPs synthesis, sample preparation process—pesticides extraction, chromatographic analysis) bearing in mind metrological and environmental issues.

Abstract
A single method was developed for the determination of polar pesticides (fosetyl-Al and its metabolite, phosphonic acid, and ethephon) and environmental contaminants (chlorate and perchlorate) in edible oils and nuts. Two extraction methods based on QuPPe-PO approach (Quick Polar Pesticides Method for products of Plant Origin) were optimized. In oils, a single extraction using water acidified with formic acid (1%) was performed, while in nuts, the clean-up step was modified. C18 was used as sorbent and an extra cleaning step with n-hexane was added. The extracts were analysed by liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole mass analyser (LC-QqQ-MS/MS). The method was validated and the limit of quantification was 0.01 mg kg-1 for all analyte-matrix combination. Recoveries from 70 to 120%, and intra and inter-day precision values ≤20% were obtained. Forty samples of edible oils and nuts were analysed, detecting phosphonic acid in nuts at concentrations up to 4.6 mg kg-1.

Abstract
The proper disposal of copper (Cu) polluted plant residues after phytoremediation has attracted extensive attention. In this study, the Cu-polluted biogas residue produced through anaerobic digestion was applied directly. Wheat, soybean and pakchoi were grown in pots for four seasons over two years. The application dosage of Cu-polluted biogas residue was evaluated by measuring growth conditions of crops, Cu content in edible parts, and amelioration of saline-alkali soil. The results showed that the biomass of the crops, the content of soil organic matter, total N and available P and microbial diversity can be improved, and the Cu concentration of the edible parts was all lower than limit standard. Amendment with 2% biogas residue enhanced the growth of beneficial bacteria and fungi, and decreased the relative abundances of potentially pathogenic fungi in the saline-alkali soil. The results of this study provide a basis for the safe utilisation of copper-polluted plant residues.

Abstract
The aim of this work was to prepare and evaluate molecularly imprinted polymers obtained by a sol-gel approach for the selective solid-phase extraction (SPE) of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) from almond oil. The performances of molecularly imprinted silicas (MISs), prepared using different conditions of synthesis, were studied by applying different extraction procedures in order to determine the ability of the MISs to selectively extract ten target OPs. For this, the retention of OPs on MISs in pure media was compared with the retention on a non-imprinted silicas (NISs), used as control sorbent, to prove the presence of specific cavities. The most promising MIS allowed the selective extraction of the 3 most polar OPs among the 10 studied. The capacity was studied and the repeatability of the extraction recovery yield was demonstrated both in pure and real media. This MIS was able to selectively extract fenthion sulfoxide and dimethoate contained in almond oil extract after applying the optimized extraction procedure with recovery yields between 100 and 114%. The estimated limit of quantification (LOQ, S/N = 10), thanks to LC/MS analysis in MRM mode, between 1.2 and 4.6 μg/kg for those OPs in the almond fruits, was more than 10 times lower than the Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) established by the European Commission. This MIS therefore shows a high potential for the analysis of those two polar OPs at trace levels from almond oils.

Abstract
Research about antibody specificity spectra was conducted to develop single-specific antibodies or broad-specific antibodies. Aflatoxins, as one class of high-toxicity mycotoxins, were selected as the research targets to investigate the effect of the immunogen dose on antibody specificity spectra. For this aim, 16 monoclonal antibodies were induced by low or high doses of aflatoxin B1-BSA, and 34 monoclonal antibodies were induced by low or high doses of aflatoxin M1-BSA. The specificities of the antibodies induced, whether by aflatoxin B1 conjugate or aflatoxin M1 conjugate, indicated that the low dose of the immunogen induced a narrow spectrum of antibody specificity, while the high dose of the immunogen showed an advantage to form a broad spectrum of antibody specificity. Therefore, this report provides important information for the development of new antibodies against small molecules like aflatoxins.

Abstract
Ion-imprinted polymers (IIPs) have drawn much attention in the selective determination of heavy metals. In this study, 8-hydroxyquinoline-grafted gelatin with different types of functional groups was first introduced as a biomolecular monomer to enhance the selectivity of imprinted cavities. Based on its swelling and film-forming properties, a simple strategy containing formation of the hydrogel film, swelling/folding followed by cross-linking, was proposed to prepare three-dimensional IIPs with high adsorption capacity (235.7 mg g(-1)), strong selectivity (imprinted factor was 2.9), and rapid kinetics. Based on the different swelling container, different morphologies of IIPs could be prepared to satisfy the requirements of practical application. Consequently, the IIPs extraction coupled with a spectrophotometric method was applied for determination of lead ions, and the limit of detection was 0.2 ng mL(-1), which could be used for monitoring of Pb(II) in drinking water and surface water.
