Abstract
In the present study, a simple, innovative, and economically beneficial method has been proposed for the synthesis of Ag@Ag2O core-shell nanocomposites using Acanthophora muscoides algae extract. The host-guest recognition of targets was performed by modification of the Ag@Ag2O surface using β-CD. The Ag@Ag2O- β-CD NCs were used as a colorimetric sensor to determine L-Tryptophan and L-Tyrosine using a partial least square (PLS) approach. A crystalline hybrid structure of Ag core and an Ag2O shell was confirmed by XRD, FTIR, TEM and AFM research. Also, DLS analysis and surface zeta potential spectra illustrated the aggregated nature of nanocomposites in the presence of analytes. The literature review shows that the colorimetric simultaneous determination of L-Tryptophan (L-Try) and L-Tyrosine (L-Tyr) has not been reported. The Ag@Ag2O- β-CD sensor exhibited outstanding sensing capability in a broad linear range of 2.0 -200 μM for both amino acids and low detection limit of 0.32 and 0.51 μM, for L-Try and L-Tyr, respectively. The good sensitivity and excellent selectivity regarding possible interfering species, originated from the synergistic effect of host-guest recognition in combination with colorimetric sensing. Additionally, determination of analytes in various pharmaceutical, supplement and urine samples, approved the practical applicability of the constructed sensor. The computed results confirmed that colorimetric sensing in conjunction with a PLS technique was appropriate for the precise and accurate simultaneous determination of target amino acids in complex mixtures with RMSEP less than 2.5% and recovery in the range of 103-108% with R.S.D. values less than 3%.

Abstract
One of the goals of this research was to develop an electrochemical sensor that had the ability to determine the target analyte and was both cheap and non-toxic. Another goal was to influence the reduction of electronic waste. In accordance with these, a graphite rod from zinc-carbon batteries was used to prepare an electrochemical sensor for the determination of L-tryptophan in Britton–Robinson buffer solution. Two electrochemical methods were used in the experimental research, differential pulse voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. The effect of different parameters, including the pH value of supporting solution, scan rate, as well as the concentration of L-tryptophan on the current response, was studied. The pH value of Britton–Robinson buffer influenced the intensity of L-tryptophan oxidation peak, as well as the peak potential. The intensity of the current response was the highest at pH 4.0, while the peak potential value became lower as the pH increased, indicating that protons also participated in the redox reaction. Based on the obtained data, electrochemical oxidation of L-tryptophan at the graphite electrode was irreversible, two electron/two proton reaction. In addition, it was observed that the oxidation peak increased as the scan rate increased. According to the obtained electrochemical data, it was suggested that the oxidation of L-tryptophan was mixed controlled by adsorption and diffusion. The linear correlation between oxidation peak and L-tryptophan concentration was investigated in the range 5.0–150.0 µM and the obtained values of limit of detection and limit of quantification were 1.73 µM and 5.78 µM, respectively. Also, the prepared electrochemical sensor was successful in determination of target analyte in milk and apple juice samples.

Abstract
The rapid growth of research in electrochemistry in the last decade has resulted in a significant advancement in exploiting electrochemical strategies for assessing biological substances. Among these, amino acids are of utmost interest due to their key role in human health. Indeed, an unbalanced amino acid level is the origin of several metabolic and genetic diseases, which has led to a great need for effective and reliable evaluation methods. This review is an effort to summarize and present both challenges and achievements in electrochemical amino acid sensing from the last decade (from 2010 onwards) to show where limitations and advantages stem from. In this review, we place special emphasis on five well-known electroactive amino acids, namely cysteine, tyrosine, tryptophan, methionine and histidine. The recent research and achievements in this area and significant performance metrics of the proposed electrochemical sensors, including the limit of detection, sensitivity, stability, linear dynamic range(s) and applicability in real sample analysis, are summarized and presented in separate sections. More than 400 recent scientific studies were included in this review to portray a rich set of ideas and exemplify the capabilities of the electrochemical strategies to detect these essential biomolecules at trace and even ultra-trace levels. Finally, we discuss, in the last section, the remaining issues and the opportunities to push the boundaries of our knowledge in amino acid electrochemistry even further.

Abstract
Wearable drug monitoring targeting epidermally retrievable biofluids (e.g., sweat) can enable a variety of applications, including drug compliance/abuse monitoring and personalized therapeutic drug dosing. In that regard, voltammetry-based approaches are suitable because they uniquely leverage the electroactive nature of target drug molecules for quantification, eliminating the reliance on the availability of recognition elements. However, to adapt such approaches for the envisioned application, three main challenges must be addressed: (1) constructing a sensitive voltammetric sensing interface with high signal-to-background ratio, (2) decoupling the confounding effect of endogenous electroactive species (naturally present in complex biofluid matrices) and baseline variation, and (3) realizing wireless voltammetric excitation and signal acquisition/transmission. To this end, first, a framework for the quantification of electroactive drugs is presented, which centers on the evaluation and determination of suitable sensing electrodes and characterization of the interference from a panel of physiologically relevant electroactive species. This framework was utilized to establish the design space and operational settings for the development of a coupled sensing system and analytical framework to render sample-to-answer drug readouts in complex biofluid matrices. The presented design framework and sensing system can serve as a basis for future wearable sensor development efforts aiming to monitor electroactive species such as pharmaceutical molecules.

Abstract
Herein, an edible biopolymer amine Modified Gum Acacia (MGA), successfully encumbered with Electron Beam irradiated Polypyrrole Nanospheres (EB-PPy NSs), was investigated for the effective role in L-Tyrosine (Tyr) biosensing application. The morphology of EB-PPy NSs decorated MGA (EB-PPy/MGA) hybrid nanobiocomposite has been studied by Scanning electron microscopy and its affirmed interactions were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer. The hybrid nanobiocomposite manifested diamagnetic behavior with reduced saturation magnetization (Ms = 1.412 × 10-4 emu/g) to produce more adhesive surface. Amine chains in EB-PPy NSs and hydroxyl groups of MGA contributed to effective immobilization, thus enabling suitable orientation for Tyr determination. The electrochemical analysis illustrated that the proposed nanobiocomposite based sensor exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic activity toward selective determination of Tyr in the linear range of 0.4 to 600 µM with a lower detection limit of 85 nM, low oxidation potential of 0.72 V and good selectivity. Finally, the reliability of the constructed EB-PPy/MGA for Tyr detection was demonstrated in real samples.

Abstract
In this work, fabrication of a novel and ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor based on immobilization of tyrosine hydroxylase onto palladium-platinum bimetallic alloy nanoparticles/chitosan-1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide/graphene-multiwalled carbon nanotubes-IL/glassy carbon electrode for determination of L-tyrosine in some high tyrosine foods including cheese, egg and yogurt was reported. Immobilization of tyrosine hydroxylase onto the surface of the biosensor was performed by cross-linking tyrosine hydroxylase and chitosan through the addition of glutaraldehyde. Enzymatic biosensors employ the affinity and selectivity of catalytically active proteins towards their target molecules and here, the tyrosine hydroxylase selectively catalyzes the conversion of tyrosine to levodopa which can be oxidized at lower potentials than tyrosine. The modifications were characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopic and scanning electron microscopy. Under optimal conditions, the biosensor detected tyrosine in concentration ranges of 0.01 × 10-9 to 8.0 × 10-9 mol L-1 and 8.0 × 10-9 to 160.0 × 10-9 mol L-1 with a limit of detection of 0.009 × 10-9 mol L-1. The biosensor was able to selective determination of tyrosine even in the presence of common interferents therefore, the biosensor was highly selective. The biosensor also showed good operational stability, antifouling properties, sensitivity, repeatability and reproducibility.

Abstract
In this paper, a new and facile method for the electrochemical determination of l-tyrosine was designed. First, 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane-functionalized silica nanoparticles were added to a paper disc. Then, the banana peel tissue and the mediator potassium hexacyanoferrate were dropped onto the paper, respectively. The modified paper disc was placed on the top of the graphite screen printed electrode and electrochemical characterization of this biosensor was studied by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods. The effective parameters like pH, banana peel tissue percentage, and the amount of mediator loading were optimized. l-tyrosine measurements were done by differential pulse voltammetry with a little sample (3 μL) for analysis. The biosensor showed a linear response for l-tyrosine in the wide concentration range of 0.05-600 μM and a low detection limit about 0.02 μM because of the co-catalytic effect of enzyme and nanoparticles. The stability of the biosensor and its selectivity were evaluated. This biosensor was applied for the voltammetric determination of l-tyrosine in the blood plasma sample. The results of the practical application study were comparable with the standard method (HPLC). In conclusion, a simple, inexpensive, rapid, sensitive and selective technique was successfully applied to the l-tyrosine analysis of the little samples.

Abstract
Over the last decades, carbon-based nanostructures have generated a huge interest from both fundamental and technological viewpoints owing to their physicochemical characteristics, markedly different from their corresponding bulk states. Among these nanostructured materials, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and more recently graphene and its derivatives, hold a central position. The large amount of work devoted to these materials is driven not only by their unique mechanical and electrical properties, but also by the advances made in synthetic methods to produce these materials in large quantities with reasonably controllable morphologies. While much less studied than CNTs and graphene, diamond nanowires, the diamond analogue of CNTs, hold promise for several important applications. Diamond nanowires display several advantages such as chemical inertness, high mechanical strength, high thermal and electrical conductivity, together with proven biocompatibility and existence of various strategies to functionalize their surface. The unique physicochemical properties of diamond nanowires have generated wide interest for their use as fillers in nanocomposites, as light detectors and emitters, as substrates for nanoelectronic devices, as tips for scanning probe microscopy as well as for sensing applications. In the past few years, studies on boron-doped diamond nanowires (BDD NWs) focused on increasing their electrochemical active surface area to achieve higher sensitivity and selectivity compared to planar diamond interfaces. The first part of the present review article will cover the promising applications of BDD NWS for label-free sensing. Then, the potential use of diamond nanowires as inorganic substrates for matrix-free laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry, a powerful label-free approach for quantification and identification of small compounds, will be discussed.

Abstract
C(sp(3) )C-bonded diamond nanowires are wide band gap semiconductors that exhibit a combination of superior properties such as negative electron affinity, chemical inertness, high Young's modulus, the highest hardness, and room-temperature thermal conductivity. The creation of 1D diamond nanowires with their giant surface-to-volume ratio enhancements makes it possible to control and enhance the fundamental properties of diamond. Although theoretical comparisons with carbon nanotubes have shown that diamond nanowires are energetically and mechanically viable structures, reproducibly synthesizing the crystalline diamond nanowires has remained challenging. We present a comprehensive, up-to-date review of diamond nanowires, including a discussion of their synthesis along with their structures, properties, and applications.

Abstract
AbstractTyrosine (Tyr) was quantitated with high sensitivity and selectivity in the presence of uric acid (UA) using a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Tyr and UA were catalytically oxidized with diffusion-controlled characteristics. They were determined simultaneously by differential pulse voltammetry with a potential difference of 350 mV. The electrocatalytic currents increase linearly with Tyr and UA concentrations 4×10−7−1×10−4 M and 3×10−7−2×10−4 M. Their detection limits were 1×10−7 and 5.1×10−8 M respectively. In the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate the Tyr detection limit improved from 1×10−7 to 6.9×10−8 M. The electrode was successfully used to quantitate Tyr and UA in serum.

Abstract
Boron-doped diamond (BDD) thin films, as one kind of electrode materials, are superior to conventional carbon-based materials including carbon paste, porous carbon, glassy carbon (GC), carbon nanotubes in terms of high stability, wide potential window, low background current, and good biocompatibility. Electrochemical biosensor based on BDD electrodes have attracted extensive interests due to the superior properties of BDD electrodes and the merits of biosensors, such as specificity, sensitivity, and fast response. Electrochemical reactions perform at the interface between electrolyte solutions and the electrodes surfaces, so the surface structures and properties of the BDD electrodes are important for electrochemical detection. In this paper, the recent advances of BDD electrodes with different surfaces including nanostructured surface and chemically modified surface, for the construction of various electrochemical biosensors, were described.
