Abstract
Paracetamol (PAR) is an effective antipyretic and analgesic drug utilized worldwide, safer at therapeutic levels but over-dosing and the chronic usage of PAR results in accumulation of toxic metabolites, which leads to kidney and liver damages. Hence, a simple, rapid, cost-effective, and sensitive analytical technique is needed for the accurate determination of PAR in pharmaceutical and biological samples. Though numerous techniques have been reported for PAR detection, electrochemical methods are being receiving more interest due to their advantages. Moreover, in the past few decades, room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been utilized in electrochemical sensors due to their attractive properties. In this present review, authors gathered research findings available for the determination of PAR using RTIL-based electrochemical sensors and discussed. The advantages and limitations in these systems as well as the future research directions are summarized.

Abstract
A transmission FTIR spectroscopic method was developed for direct, inexpensive and fast quantification of paracetamol content in solid pharmaceutical formulations. In this method paracetamol content is directly analyzed without solvent extraction. KBr pellets were formulated for the acquisition of FTIR spectra in transmission mode. Two chemometric models: simple Beer's law and partial least squares employed over the spectral region of 1800-1000 cm(-1) for quantification of paracetamol content had a regression coefficient of (R(2)) of 0.999. The limits of detection and quantification using FTIR spectroscopy were 0.005 mg g(-(1) and 0.018 mg g(-1), respectively. Study for interference was also done to check effect of the excipients. There was no significant interference from the sample matrix. The results obviously showed the sensitivity of transmission FTIR spectroscopic method for pharmaceutical analysis. This method is green in the sense that it does not require large volumes of hazardous solvents or long run times and avoids prior sample preparation.

Abstract
A tubular bismuth film electrode (BFE), installed as part of a multisyringe flow injection system, was used as an amperometric detector to determine the concentration of diclofenac sodium in pharmaceutical formulations. A tubular voltammetric detection cell was employed, in which the hydrodynamic flow conditions were not disturbed. This automated method allows the continuous regeneration of the BFE, preventing passivation of the detector and improving the sensitivity of detection. The influence of several variables on this sensitivity, such as the injection volume, deposition time and flow rate were evaluated; a two-level factorial experimental design was employed for this. In optimal conditions, the linear range of the calibration curve varied from 6.0-50.0 micromol L(-1), with a detection limit of 4.3 micromol L(-1). A sampling rate of 90 determinations/h was achieved; the relative standard deviation of analytical repeatability was <3.5%. After 30 injections the bismuth film on the electrode surface was automatically renewed. The method was validated by comparing the results obtained with those provided by RP-HPLC; no significant difference were seen (p<0.05).

Abstract
Flow injection analysis (FIA) with amperometric detection was employed for acetaminophen quantification in pharmaceutical formulations using a carbon film resistor electrode. This sensor exhibited sharp and reproducible current peaks for acetaminophen without chemical modification of its surface. A wide linear working range (8.0x10(-7) to 5.0x10(-4) mol L(-1)) in phosphate buffer solution as well as high sensitivity (0.143 A mol(-1) L cm(-2)) and low submicromolar detection limit (1.36x10(-7) mol L(-1)) were achieved. The repeatability (R.S.D. for 10 successive injections of 5.0x10(-6) and 5.0x10(-5) mol L(-1) acetaminophen solutions) was 3.1 and 1.3%, respectively, without any memory effect between injections. The new procedure was applied to the analyses of commercial pharmaceutical products and the results were in good agreement with those obtained utilizing a spectrophotometric method. Consequently, this amperometric method has been shown to be very suitable for quality control analyses and other applications with similar requirements.
