Revolutionising healthcare with artificial intelligence: A bibliometric analysis of 40 years of progress in health systems

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionised the medical system, empowering healthcare professionals to analyse complex nonlinear big data and identify hidden patterns, facilitating well-informed decisions. Over the last decade, there has been a notable trend of research in AI, machine learning (ML), and their associated algorithms in health and medical systems. These approaches have transformed the healthcare system, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, personalised treatment, and decision-making. Recognising the importance and growing trend of research in the topic area, this paper presents a bibliometric analysis of AI in health and medical systems. The paper utilises the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database, considering documents published in the topic area for the last four decades. A total of 64,063 papers were identified from 1983 to 2022. The paper evaluates the bibliometric data from various perspectives, such as annual papers published, annual citations, highly cited papers, and most productive institutions, and countries. The paper visualises the relationship among various scientific actors by presenting bibliographic coupling and co-occurrences of the author's keywords. The analysis indicates that the field began its significant growth in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with significant growth since 2019. The most influential institutions are in the USA and China. The study also reveals that the scientific community's top keywords include 'ML', 'Deep Learning', and 'Artificial Intelligence'.

Complex nonlinear neural network prediction with IOWA layer

Neural network methods are widely used in business problems for prediction, clustering, and risk management to improving customer satisfaction and business outcome. The ability of a neural network to learn complex nonlinear relationship is due to its architecture that uses weight parameters to transform input data within the hidden layers. Such methods perform well in many situations where the ordering of inputs is simple. However, for a complex reordering of a decision-maker, the process is not enough to get an optimal prediction result. Moreover, existing machine learning algorithms cannot reduce computational complexity by reducing data size without losing any information. This paper proposes an induced ordered weighted averaging (IOWA) operator for the artificial neural network IOWA-ANN. The operator reorders the data according to the order-inducing variable. The proposed sorting mechanism in the neural network can handle a complex nonlinear relationship of a dataset, which results in reduced computational complexities. The proposed approach deals with the complexity of the neuron, collects the data and allows a degree of customisation of the structure. The application further extended to IGOWA and Quasi-IOWA operators. We present a numerical example in a financial decision-making process to demonstrate the approach's effectiveness in handling complex situations. This paper opens a new research area for various complex nonlinear predictions where the dataset is big enough, such as cloud QoS and IoT sensors data. The approach can be used with different machine learning, neural networks or hybrid fuzzy neural methods with other extensions of the OWA operator.

Onsite/offsite social commerce adoption for SMEs using fuzzy linguistic decision making in complex framework

There has been a growing social commerce adoption trend among SMEs for few years. However, it is often a challenging strategic task for SMEs to choose the right type of social commerce. SMEs usually have a limited budget, technical skills and resources and want to maximise productivity with those limited resources. There is much literature that discusses the social commerce adoption strategy for SMEs. However, there is no work to enable SMEs to choose social commerce-onsite/offsite or hybrid strategy. Moreover, very few studies allow the decision-makers to handle uncertain, complex nonlinear relationships of social commerce adoption factors. The paper proposes a fuzzy linguistic multi-criteria group decision-making in a complex framework for onsite, offsite social commerce adoption to address the problem. The proposed approach uses a novel hybrid approach by combining FAHP, FOWA and selection criteria of the technological-organisation-environment (TOE) framework. Unlike previous methods, the proposed approach uses the decision maker's attitudinal characteristics and recommends intelligently using the OWA operator. The approach further demonstrates the decision behaviour of the decision-makers with Fuzzy Minimum (FMin), Fuzzy Maximum (FMax), Laplace criteria, Hurwicz criteria, FWA, FOWA and FPOWA. The framework enables the SMEs to choose the right type of social commerce considering TOE factors that help them build a stronger relationship with current and potential customers. The approach's applicability is demonstrated using a case study of three SMEs seeking to adopt a social commerce type. The analysis results indicate the proposed approach's effectiveness in handling uncertain, complex nonlinear decisions in social commerce adoption.

Examining the Prediction of COVID-19 Contact-Tracing App Adoption Using an Integrated Model and Hybrid Approach Analysis

COVID-19 contact-tracing applications (CTAs) offer enormous potential to mitigate the surge of positive coronavirus cases, thus helping stakeholders to monitor high-risk areas. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is among the countries that have developed a CTA known as the Tawakkalna application, to manage the spread of COVID-19. Thus, this study aimed to examine and predict the factors affecting the adoption of Tawakkalna CTA. An integrated model which comprises the technology acceptance model (TAM), privacy calculus theory (PCT), and task-technology fit (TTF) model was hypothesized. The model is used to understand better behavioral intention toward using the Tawakkalna mobile CTA. This study performed structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis as well as artificial neural network (ANN) analysis to validate the model, using survey data from 309 users of CTAs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The findings revealed that perceived ease of use and usefulness has positively and significantly impacted the behavioral intention of Tawakkalna mobile CTA. Similarly, task features and mobility positively and significantly influence task-technology fit, and significantly affect the behavioral intention of the CTA. However, the privacy risk, social concerns, and perceived benefits of social interaction are not significant factors. The findings provide adequate knowledge of the relative impact of key predictors of the behavioral intention of the Tawakkalna contact-tracing app.

Assessing cloud QoS predictions using OWA in neural network methods

Quality of Service (QoS) is the key parameter to measure the overall performance of service-oriented applications. In a myriad of web services, the QoS data has multiple highly sparse and enormous dimensions. It is a great challenge to reduce computational complexity by reducing data dimensions without losing information to predict QoS for future intervals. This paper uses an Induced Ordered Weighted Average (IOWA) layer in the prediction layer to lessen the size of a dataset and analyse the prediction accuracy of cloud QoS data. The approach enables stakeholders to manage extensive QoS data better and handle complex nonlinear predictions. The paper evaluates the cloud QoS prediction using an IOWA operator with nine neural network methods—Cascade-forward backpropagation, Elman backpropagation, Feedforward backpropagation, Generalised regression, NARX, Layer recurrent, LSTM, GRU and LSTM-GRU. The paper compares results using RMSE, MAE, and MAPE to measure prediction accuracy as a benchmark. A total of 2016 QoS data are extracted from Amazon EC2 US-West instance to predict future 96 intervals. The analysis results show that the approach significantly decreases the data size by 66%, from 2016 to 672 records with improved or equal accuracy. The case study demonstrates the approach's effectiveness while handling complexity, reducing data dimension with better prediction accuracy.

A stock market trading framework based on deep learning architectures

Market prediction has been a key interest for professionals around the world. Numerous modern technologies have been applied in addition to statistical models over the years. Among the modern technologies, machine learning and in general artificial intelligence have been at the core of numerous market prediction models. Deep learning techniques in particular have been successful in modeling the market movements. It is seen that automatic feature extraction models and time series forecasting techniques have been investigated separately however a stacked framework with a variety of inputs is not explored in detail. In the present article, we suggest a framework based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) paired with long-short term memory (LSTM) to predict the closing price of the Nifty 50 stock market index. A CNN-LSTM framework extracts features from a rich feature set and applies time series modeling with a look-up period of 20 trading days to predict the movement of the next day. Feature sets include raw price data of target index as well as foreign indices, technical indicators, currency exchange rates, commodities price data which are all chosen by similarities and well-known trade setups across the industry. The model is able to capture the information based on these features to predict the target variable i.e. closing price with a mean absolute percentage error of 2.54% across 10 years of data. The suggested framework shows a huge improvement on return than the traditional buy and hold method.
