Abstract
BACKGROUND The establishment and maintenance of pregnancy depend on endometrial competence. Asherman syndrome (AS) and intrauterine adhesions (IUA), or endometrial atrophy (EA) and thin endometrium (TE), can either originate autonomously or arise as a result from conditions (i.e. endometritis or congenital hypoplasia), or medical interventions (e.g. surgeries, hormonal therapies, uterine curettage or radiotherapy). Affected patients may present an altered or inadequate endometrial lining that hinders embryo implantation and increases the risk of poor pregnancy outcomes and miscarriage. In humans, AS/IUA and EA/TE are mainly treated with surgeries or pharmacotherapy, however the reported efficacy of these therapeutic approaches remains unclear. Thus, novel regenerative techniques utilizing stem cells, growth factors, or tissue engineering have emerged to improve reproductive outcomes. OBJECTIVE AND RATIONALE This review comprehensively summarizes the methodologies and outcomes of emerging biotechnologies (cellular, acellular, and bioengineering approaches) to treat human endometrial pathologies. Regenerative therapies derived from human tissues or blood which were studied in preclinical models (in vitro and in vivo) and clinical trials are discussed. SEARCH METHODS A systematic search of full-text articles available in PubMed and Embase was conducted to identify original peer-reviewed studies published in English between January 2000 and September 2023. The search terms included: human, uterus, endometrium, Asherman syndrome, intrauterine adhesions, endometrial atrophy, thin endometrium, endometritis, congenital hypoplasia, curettage, radiotherapy, regenerative therapy, bioengineering, stem cells, vesicles, platelet-rich plasma, biomaterials, microfluidic, bioprinting, organoids, hydrogel, scaffold, sheet, miRNA, sildenafil, nitroglycerine, aspirin, growth hormone, progesterone, and estrogen. Preclinical and clinical studies on cellular, acellular, and bioengineering strategies to repair or regenerate the human endometrium were included. Additional studies were identified through manual searches. OUTCOMES From a total of 4366 records identified, 164 studies (3.8%) were included for systematic review. Due to heterogeneity in the study design and measured outcome parameters in both preclinical and clinical studies, the findings were evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively without meta-analysis. Groups using stem cell-based treatments for endometrial pathologies commonly employed mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the human bone marrow or umbilical cord. Alternatively, acellular therapies based on platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or extracellular vesicles are gaining popularity. These are accompanied by the emergence of bioengineering strategies based on extracellular matrix (ECM)-derived hydrogels or synthetic biosimilars that sustain local delivery of cells and growth factors, reporting promising results. Combined therapies that target multiple aspects of tissue repair and regeneration remain in preclinical testing but have shown translational value. This review highlights the myriad of therapeutic material sources, administration methods, and carriers that have been tested. WIDER IMPLICATIONS Therapies that promote endometrial proliferation, vascular development, and tissue repair may help restore endometrial function and, ultimately, fertility. Based on the existing evidence, cost, accessibility, and availability of the therapies, we propose the development of triple-hit regenerative strategies, potentially combining high-yield MSCs (e.g. from bone marrow or umbilical cord) with acellular treatments (PRP), possibly integrated in ECM hydrogels. Advances in biotechnologies together with insights from preclinical models will pave the way for developing personalized treatment regimens for patients with infertility-causing endometrial disorders such as AS/IUA, EA/TE, and endometritis. Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has gained popularity as an experimental tool in regenerative medicine, with potential applications in reproductive medicine. This review will assess the existing literature on the role of PRP in female fertility enhancement, focusing on ovarian rejuvenation and increased endometrial thickness. PRP is being explored as a treatment for recurrent implantation failure, primary ovarian insufficiency and poor ovarian response. While the influence of PRP on endometrial thickness and implantation success is postulated, its effectiveness remains the subject of debate due to protocol variability and unclear patient selection criteria. This narrative review includes 36 articles published before December 2022, and highlights the lack of comprehensive molecular studies examining the impact of PRP on reproductive capacity. This review underscores the importance of standardizing PRP preparation protocols in reproductive medicine. However, challenges persist, and there is a need for well-planned randomized controlled trials and a deeper understanding of the patient population that would gain the greatest benefit from PRP treatment. Clarifying these aspects is crucial to improve outcomes for low-prognosis patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology.

Abstract
This review article examines the effectiveness of incorporating autologous endometrial cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) through hysteroscopic injections within the field of assisted reproductive technology (ART). This study assesses the outcomes of these injections on the susceptibility of the endometrium, the dynamics of the uterus, and the frequencies of pregnancy in individuals with refractory thin endometrium. Based on a complete examination of several trials, it becomes apparent that autologous PRP injections provide encouraging turnouts in augmenting endometrial thickness, raising endometrial receptivity, and, in the end, raising chances of being pregnant and successful delivery. The research highlights the promise of autologous PRP and minimally changed endometrial cellular treatments in enhancing outcomes in ART, especially for people who have had problems with implantation. This article gives a whole evaluation of the medical use of and upgrades regarding the utilization of infusions of PRP and autologous endometrial cells under hysteroscopic control to deal with infertility issues related to endometrial health through the synthesis of contemporary studies.

Abstract
Endometrial stem/progenitor cells are a type of stem cells with the ability to self-renew and differentiate into multiple cell types. They exist in the endometrium and form niches with their neighbor cells and extracellular matrix. The interaction between endometrial stem/progenitor cells and niches plays an important role in maintaining, repairing, and regenerating the endometrial structure and function. This review will discuss the characteristics and functions of endometrial stem/progenitor cells and their niches, the mechanisms of their interaction, and their roles in endometrial regeneration and diseases. Finally, the prospects for their applications will also be explored.

Abstract
Thin endometrium (TE) is defined as a mid-luteal endometrial thickness ≤7mm. TE can affect endometrial tolerance, leading to lower embryo implantation rates and clinical pregnancy rates, and is also associated with impaired outcomes from assisted reproductive treatment. Herein, we systematically review TE causes, mechanisms, and treatments. TE pathogenesis has multiple causes, with the endometrium becoming thinner with age under hormonal influence. In addition, uterine cavity factors are important, as the inflammatory environment may affect expressions of certain genes thereby inhibiting endometrial stromal cell proliferation and promoting apoptosis. Long-term oral contraceptive use or the use of ovulation-promoting drugs are also definite factors contributing to endometrial thinning. Other patients have primary factors, for which the clinical etiology remains unknown. The main therapeutic strategies available for TE are pharmacological (including hormonal and vasoactive drugs), regenerative medicine, intrauterine infusion of growth factor-granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, autologous platelet-rich plasma, and complementary alternative therapies (including traditional Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture). However, the associated mechanisms of action are currently unclear. Clinical scholars have proposed various approaches to improve treatment outcomes in patients with TE, and are exploring the principles of efficacy, offering potentials for novel treatments. It is hoped that this will improve TE tolerance, increase embryo implantation rates, and help more couples with infertility with effective treatments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Poor ovarian response (POR) patients often encounter cycle cancellation and egg retrieval obstacles in assisted reproductive technology. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) ovarian injection is a potential treatment method, but the treatment methods are different, and the treatment results are controversial. OBJECTIVE This study adopts a systematic review and meta-analysis method based on clinical research to explore the efficacy and safety of PRP injection on POR. METHOD The following databases were searched for research published before March 2023; Medline (via PubMed), Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Embase, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI). The literature was then screened by two independent researchers, who extracted the data and evaluated its quality. Research was selected according to the inclusion criteria, and its quality was evaluated according to the NOS standard Cohort study. The bias risk of the included study was assessed with STATE 14.0. RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis. MAIN RESULTS Ten studies were included in the analysis, including 7 prospective cohort studies and 3 retrospective studies involving 836 patients. The results showed that after PRP treatment, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) significantly decreased and anti-Mueller hormone (AMH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) significantly increased in POR patients, but estradiol did not change significantly; The number of antral follicles increased, and the number of obtaining eggs and mature oocytes significantly increased; The number of Metaphase type II oocytes, 2PN and high-quality embryos, and cleavage stage embryos significantly increased. In addition, the patient cycle cancellation rates significantly decreased. The rate of natural pregnancy assisted reproductive pregnancy and live birth increased significantly. Four reports made it clear that no adverse reactions were observed. CONCLUSION PRP may have the potential to improve pre-assisted reproductive indicators in POR patients, increase the success rate of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in POR patients, and improve embryo quality, and may be beneficial to the pregnancy outcome. There is no obvious potential risk in this study, but further clinical support is still needed.

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effects of ovarian injection of autologous platelet rich plasma (aPRP) on patients with poor ovarian responder (POR) based on the existing clinical evidence. Methods According to systematic review and meta-analysis, we comprehensively searched nine databases established as of September 6, 2023, and evaluated the impact of ovarian PRP infusion on poor ovarian responder. The research results include serum follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH) levels, antral Follicle Count(AFC), oocyte number, and embryo number. The Newcastle Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to evaluate the quality of inclusion in trials. Results Add up to 10 studies consisting of 793 participants were included in the meta-analysis. A review of existing evidence showed that intraovarian injection of PRP has significant therapeutic effects in increasing levels of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) (SMD=0.44,95% CI [0.07,0.81], p=0.02), antral follicle count (AFC) (MD=1.15,95% CI [0.4,1.90], p=0.003), oocyte count (MD=0.91, 95% CI [0.40, 1.41], p=0.0004), and embryo number (MD=0.78, 95% CI [0.5,1.07], p<0.0001). We compared the relevant data of patients before and after treatment after 2 months of intervention. It can be seen that ovarian injection of PRP treatment for 2 months has better effects in reducing FSH levels, increasing AMH levels, increasing antral follicle count, and increasing the number of oocytes and embryos (p<0.05). When the dose of PRP injected into each ovary was ≥ 4ml, there was also a significant correlation (p<0.05) with improving the number of AFC, oocytes and embryos. Significant heterogeneity existed among the studies. Conclusion The pooled results suggest that intra-ovarian injection of PRP can promote ovarian regeneration and improve the reproductive outcomes of patients with ovarian dysfunction. This therapy may have significant clinical potential in improving sex hormone levels, increasing AFC, oocyte count, and embryo count. However, this findings still requires more rigorous and extensive trials worldwide to determine the value of intra-ovarian injection of PRP in POR patients. Abstract
BACKGROUND Uterine blood flow determines endometrial thickness. This study examined how vaginal sildenafil citrate and estradiol valerate altered endometrial thickness, blood flow, and fertility in infertile women. METHODS This study observed 148 infertile women whose infertility was unexplained. Group 1 comprised 48 patients who received oral estradiol valerate (Cyclo-Progynova 2 mg/12 h white tablets) from day 6 till ovulation was initiated with clomiphene citrate. A number of 50 participants in group 2 received oral sildenafil (Respatio 20 mg/12 h film-coated tablets) for 5 days starting the day after their previous menstrual period and finishing on the day they ovulated with clomiphene citrate. Group 3 was the control group, with 50 patients receiving clomiphene citrate (Technovula 50 mg/12 h tablets) ovulation induction from the 2nd to 7th day of cycle. All patients had transvaginal ultrasounds to determine ovulation, follicle count, and fertility. Miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and multiple pregnancies were monitored for three months. RESULTS The three groups' mean ETs differed statistically at p = 0.0004. A statistically significant difference was found between the three groups in terms of the number of follicles, with 69% of patients in group 1 having one and 31% having two or more, 76% of patients in group 2 having one and 24% having two or more, and 90% of patients in the control group having one and 10% having two or more (p = 0.038). The clinical pregnancy rates of the three groups were 58%, 46%, and 27%, respectively (p = 0.005). The distribution of all side effects was not statistically different between the three groups. CONCLUSION It is possible to claim that adding oral estrogen to clomiphene citrate therapy as an adjuvant therapy can improve endometrial thickness and, as a result, increase the pregnancy rates in unexplained infertility compared to sildenafil, especially in cases where the infertility has lasted less than two years. Most people who take sildenafil end up with a mild headache.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the value of intrauterine PRP to improve IVF outcome in women with previous implantation failure. METHODS Screening of Pubmed, Web of Science, and other databases from inception to August 2022 using the keywords related to "platelet-rich plasma" OR "PRP" AND "IVF" "implantation failure." Twenty-nine studies (3308 participants) were included in our analysis, 13 were RCTs, 6 were prospective cohorts, 4 were prospective single arm, and 6 were retrospective analyses. Extracted data included settings of the study, study type, sample size, participants' characteristics, route, volume, timing of PRP administration, and outcome parameters. RESULTS Implantation rate was reported in 6 RCTs (886 participants) and 4 non-RCTs (732 participants). The odds ratio (OR) effect estimate was 2.62 and 2.06, with 95% CI of 1.83, 3.76, and 1.03-4.11, respectively. Endometrial thickness was compared in 4 RCTs (307 participants) and 9 non-RCTs (675 participants), which showed a mean difference of 0.93 and 1.16, with 0.59-1.27 and 0.68-1.65 95% CI, respectively. CONCLUSION PRP administration improves implantation, clinical pregnancy, chemical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy, live birth rates, and endometrial thickness in women with previous implantation failure.

Abstract
Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is used to enhance pregnancy in infertile women. In this technique, the eggs are removed from the ovary and fertilized and injected with sperm to make embryos. Unfortunately, embryo implantation failures still occur in many of these women. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies use a patient's own platelets to promote tissue healing and growth, including endometrium. The growth factors provided by the platelets play a criterial role on the regenerative ability of PRP. In the last years, PRP treatments have been gaining a lot of popularity to treat women with repeated ART failures. In this study, we collected and summarized all information published in the scientific literature to assess the evidence of the PRP effect on pregnancy. We only considered randomized controlled trials (RCT), a type of study designed to be unbiased and considered at the highest level of evidence. Our analysis indicates that PRP therapies might be an effective treatment in cases of poor responsiveness to conventional ART. However, additional studies (well-designed) are necessary to confirm this beneficial effect of PRP.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of hysteroscopically controlled injections of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and autologous endometrial cells as a treatment for infertile women with thin endometrium. The study enrolled 115 patients with thin endometrium (< 7 mm at implantation window) and infertility, who were divided into groups: Group 1 (the control) underwent conservative therapy; Group 2 received intraendometrial PRP injections instead of the conservative therapy; Group 3 received identical injections after conservative therapy; Group 4 received injections of the autologous endometrial cells suspended in PRP. A single injection dose of PRP contained 0.6-0.7 × 1011 of platelets. The levels of PDGF-BB and VEGF in PRP were increased compared with ordinary plasma. The autologous endometrial cells, obtained from pipelle biopsies, constituted heterogeneous cell populations containing stromal and epithelial cells. Intraendometrial PRP injections had significant impact on endometrial thickness and local microcirculation in Group 2 and Group 3. In Group 4, injections of PRP reinforced with endometrial cells also facilitated a significant increase in endometrial thickness. This work describes a novel approach for infertility treatment in patients with refractory thin endometrium. PRP injections and injections of the endometrial cells suspended in PRP into endometrium enhanced cell proliferation and angiogenesis.

Abstract
Good endometrium is the prerequisite and guarantee for reproduction and maternal and child health. Endometrial injury caused by operation or non-operation can lead to menstrual irregularities, amenorrhea, abortion, infertility, and other gynecological diseases to bother women. Intrauterine adhesions (IUA) and thin endometrium are common diseases caused by abnormal repair after endometrium damage. The incidence of IUA is not low after uterine operative surgery, and the recurrence is pretty high after uterine adhesiolysis. At present, there were many methods for endometrial repair in clinic or in the laboratory, but the efficacy was different from methods to methods. They are mainly including estrogen therapy, stem cell therapy, complementary medicine therapy, and some physical barrier therapy. In order to guide the effective repair and regeneration of endometrium in clinic, this paper reviews the merit and demerit of these methods for endometrium regeneration and repair that have been proved to be effective in experiments and clinical in recent years.

Abstract
Asherman’s syndrome (AS) is caused by intrauterine adhesions and inactive endometrium from repeated curettage of the uterine endometrium. AS is a major cause of recurrent implantation failure and miscarriage and is very difficult to treat because of the poor recovery of endometrial basal cells. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has abundant growth factors that may induce angiogenesis and cell proliferation. Here, we demonstrate that human PRP (hPRP) significantly enhances angiogenesis to restore embryo implantation, leading to successful pregnancy in mice with AS. In mice with AS, hPRP treatment considerably reduced the expression of fibrosis markers and alleviated oligo/amenorrhea phenotypes. Mice with AS did not produce any pups, but the hPRP therapy restored their infertility. AS-induced abnormalities, such as aberrantly delayed embryo implantation and intrauterine growth retardation, were considerably eliminated by hPRP. Furthermore, hPRP significantly promoted not only the elevation of various angiogenic factors, but also the migration of endometrial stromal cells. It also increased the phosphorylation of STAT3, a critical mediator of wound healing, and the expression of tissue remodeling genes in a fibrotic uterus. PRP could be a promising therapeutic strategy to promote angiogenesis and reduce fibrosis in impaired uterine environments, leading to successful embryo implantation for better clinical outcomes in patients with AS.

Abstract
Objective To evaluate whether the intrauterine perfusion of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) before frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) improves the pregnancy outcomes of patients with repeated implantation failure (RIF). Methods This retrospective study included 288 infertile women with RIF after undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) treatment from October 1, 2019, to January 1, 2021, at Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital. Patients were divided into two groups according to whether they received PRP intrauterine perfusion before embryo transfer in FET cycles. 138 women were in the PRP group, 150 women were in the control group. The primary outcome measure was live birth rates and the secondary outcome were clinical pregnancy, positive β hCG, miscarriage and implantation rates. Results No significant differences in baseline demographic and clinical characteristics were observed between the two groups. Overall, significantly more women in the PRP group than in the control group achieved a live birth rate (41 women; 29.71% vs. 27 women; 18%) and a clinical pregnancy (50 women; 36.23% vs. 37 women; 24.67%). The PRP group had a higher implantation rate and lower spontaneous miscarriage rate than the control group, but these differences were not statistically significant. No pregnancy outcome difference between two groups in PCOS patients with RIF. Conclusion Our results showed that intrauterine perfusion of PRP before embryo transfer in FET cycles can significantly increase the live birth and clinical pregnancy rates in patients with RIF.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Glucocorticoid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (GIONFH) is a progressive and disabling disease caused by long-term or high-dose glucocorticoid use. Decreased osteogenesis and proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are the main pathogenesis of GIONFH. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been shown to play a promising role in bone regeneration. However, the effects of PRP on glucocorticoid-induced BMSCs inhibition remains elusive. The objective of this study was to explore whether PRP could improve the in vitro biological activities of BMSCs inhibited by high-dose glucocorticoid in vitro. METHODS In this study, a dexamethasone (Dex)-induced in vitro cell model was established. The effects of PRP on proliferation, migration, cell cycle and apoptosis of rat BMSCs induced with high-dose Dex compared to BMSCCTRL, using CCK-8 assay, transwell, flow cytometry and TUNEL assay, respectively. We further performed the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and alizarin red (ALR) staining to explore the influence of PRP on osteogenic differentiation. Western Blot was used to detect the expression of Bcl-2, Caspase-3, RUNX2 apoptosis, and osteogenic-related proteins. RESULTS We observed increased apoptosis rate and Caspase-3 expression, and the decreased migration and osteogenic differentiation, and down-regulation of RUNX-2 and Bcl-2 expression in Dex-induced BMSCs. PRP could reverse these inhibitory effects of Dex, and enhance the BMSCs proliferation, migration, and osteogenic ability in vitro. CONCLUSION Our vitro study showed that PRP significantly protected BMSCs from Dex-induced apoptosis, and further promoted BMSCs proliferation, migration, and osteogenic differentiation. This study provides a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of GIONFH with PRP. Meanwhile, it also lays the foundation for the application of PRP in other musculoskeletal diseases.

Abstract
Numerous treatment strategies have so far been proposed for treating refractory thin endometrium either without or with the Asherman syndrome. Inconsistency in the improvement of endometrial thickness is a common limitation of such therapies including tamoxifen citrate as an ovulation induction agent, acupuncture, long-term pentoxifylline and tocopherol or tocopherol only, low-dose human chorionic gonadotropin during endometrial preparation, aspirin, luteal gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist supplementation, and extended estrogen therapy. Recently, cell therapy has been proposed as an ideal alternative for endometrium regeneration, including the employment of stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, and growth factors as therapeutic agents. The mechanisms of action of cell therapy include the cytokine induction, growth factor production, natural killer cell activity reduction, Th17 and Th1 decrease, and Treg cell and Th2 increase. Since cell therapy is personalized, dynamic, interactive, and specific and could be an effective strategy. Despite its promising nature, further research is required for improving the procedure and the safety of this strategy. These methods and their results are discussed in this article.

Abstract
Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is a common gynaecological disease that develops from infection or trauma. IUA disease may seriously affect the physical and mental health of women of childbearing age, which may lead to symptoms such as hypomenorrhea or infertility. Presently, hysteroscopic transcervical resection of adhesion (TCRA) is the principal therapy for IUAs, although its function in preventing the recurrence of adhesion and preserving fertility is limited. Pharmaceuticals such as hormones and vasoactive agents and the placement of nondegradable stents are the most common postoperative adjuvant therapy methods. However, the repair of injured endometrium is relatively restricted due to the different anatomical structures of the endometrium. Recently, the treatment outcome of IUAs has improved with the advancement of hysteroscopic techniques. In particular, the application of bioactive scaffolds combined with tissue engineering technology has proven to have high therapeutic potential or endometrial repair in IUA treatment. Herein, this review has summarized past therapeutic strategies, including postoperative adjuvant therapy, cell or therapeutic molecular delivery therapy methods and bioactive scaffold-based tissue engineering methods. Therefore, this review presented the recent therapeutic strategies for repairing endometrium treatment and pointed out the issues of clinical concern to provide alternative methods for the management of IUAs.

Abstract
The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to summarize data on the effectiveness of Sildenafil supplementation for women undergoing assisted reproduction techniques. This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluates the effects of Sildenafil administration during infertility treatments compared with a control group in infertile women. Outcomes evaluated were endometrial thickness (ETh) and the clinical pregnancy rate (CPR). The chemical pregnancy rate (ChPR) was also evaluated. Pooled results were expressed as the risk ratio (RR) or mean differences (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Women undergoing ovulation induction who received Sildenafil showed higher ETh and a higher CPR in comparison to controls. In this group, both the ETh and ChPR resulted in significantly higher values only with delayed start administration. Women undergoing fresh or frozen embryo transfer who received Sildenafil showed no significant advantages regarding ETh and CPR in comparison to controls. In this group, we found a significantly higher ChPR in women receiving Sildenafil. A subgroup analysis revealed significant advantages regarding ETh with oral administration for women undergoing fresh or frozen embryo transfer. Sildenafil therapy appears to improve endometrial thickness and pregnancy rate in women undergoing timed intercourses but it resulted not effective in IUI and IVF treatments. Further RCTs with rigorous methodology are still mandatory.

Abstract
Endometrial function is essential for embryo implantation and pregnancy, but managing endometrial thickness that is too thin to support pregnancy or an endometrium of compromised functionality due to intrauterine adhesions is an ongoing challenge in reproductive medicine. Here, we review current and emerging therapeutic and experimental options for endometrial regeneration with a focus on animal models used to study solutions for Asherman's syndrome and endometrial atrophy, which both involve a damaged endometrium. A review of existing literature was performed that confirmed the lack of consensus on endometrial therapeutic options, though promising new alternatives have emerged in recent years (platelet-rich plasma, exosomes derived from stem cells, bioengineering-based techniques, endometrial organoids, among others). In the future, basic research using established experimental models of endometrial pathologies (combined with new high-tech solutions) and human clinical trials with large population sizes are needed to evaluate these emerging and new endometrial therapies.

Abstract
MATERIALS AND METHODS After forming of the thin endometrium by uterine injection of 0.2 ml 96% ethyl alcohol to the rats, five days of subcutaneous injections of 40 μg/kg G-CSF or saline were given. Endometrial thickness, immunohistochemically expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGF-R2), proliferative cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and fibronectin apoptosis with TUNEL method were compared in specimens among four groups of post-model rats. RESULTS Endometrial thickness was significantly improved in thin but not in normal endometrium group with GCSF when compared to saline injection. Stromal and glandular epithelial expression of PCNA and pericapillary VEGF-R2 was significantly increased, and apoptosis was significantly decreased with G-CSF. Although fibronectin was also increased with G-CSF in the thin endometrium, the difference was non-significant. In further, G-CSF decreased apoptotic cells and increased expression of PCNA when compared to saline injection in normal endometrium. CONCLUSIONS G-CSF improves endometrial thickness, proliferation, angiogenesis and DNA fragmentation in thin endometrium.

Abstract
Endometrial-related disorders including Asherman's syndrome, thin endometrium, pelvic organ prolapse, and cesarean scar pregnancies can be accompanied by different symptoms such as amenorrhea, infertility, abnormal placental implantation and recurrent miscarriage. Different methods have been introduced to overcome these problems such as surgery and hormonal therapy but none of them has shown promising outcomes. On the other hand, the development of novel regenerative therapeutic strategies has opened new avenues for the treatment of endometrial-related deficiencies. In this regard, different types of scaffolds, acellular matrices and also cell therapy with adult or stem cells have been investigated for the treatment of endometrial-related deficiencies. In this paper, we review the current status of cell-based endometrium regeneration using scaffold dependent and scaffold-free methods and future perspectives in this field. Moreover, we discuss the endometrial diseases that can be candidates for cell-based treatments. Also, the cells with the potential for endometrial regeneration are explained.

Abstract
Simple Summary Persistent endometritis is one of the major causes of infertility in mares and results in endometrium degeneration, namely, endometrosis. Platelets-rich plasma (PRP) is an emerging therapeutic application in tissue regeneration because of its high concentration of growth factors with a high mitogenic and anti-inflammatory potential, but reduced preservation time. L-GFequina is a freeze-dried, stabilized, platelet-rich plasma product (PP) that can be stored at 2 to 8 °C for several months. It can be easily used after reconstitution with sterile saline or water, eliminating the need for repeated blood product collection and special equipment. The intrauterine infusion of equine platelet-rich plasma or L-GFequina can be used indistinctly in repeat breeder mares, shortening the estrous cycle, with no significant effect on the follicular diameter, as well as increasing pregnancy rate in Arabian purebred mares. Abstract This study was designed to examine the effect of the intrauterine infusion of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or equine lyophilized growth factor (L-GFequina) on the follicular growth, endometrial thickness, estrus cycle length, and pregnancy rate in purebred Arabian mares. A total of 73 purebred Arabian mares who experienced repeat breeding for three successive cycles were randomly divided into the following three groups: control group, without treatment; second Group (PRP group), in which mares were intrauterine infused with 20 mL of fresh PRP on the second day after the end of physic estrus phase; and the third group (L-GFequina Group), consisting of mares that were intrauterine infused with 20 mL of reconstituted lyophilized horse platelets growth factors (L-GFequina) on the second day after the estrus phase. The results showed no significant difference between control and treated groups in the diameter of the preovulatory follicles during the post treatment cycle. The endometrium thickness increased significantly in the L-GFequina and PRP groups ahead of the non-treated group. Intrauterine L-GFequina or PRP administration shortened the estrus cycle length. A higher pregnancy rate was recorded in the L-GFequina and PRP treated mares. In conclusion, the intrauterine infusion of L-GFequina or PRP increased the endometrial thickness and pregnancy rate and could be used to improve fertility in Arabian purebred mares who experienced from repeat breeding.

Abstract
The success rate of assisted reproduction techniques (ART) has long been less than satisfactory albeit the great progress made in recent years, demonstrating the need for alternative options in the ART cycles. Growing evidence correlates the effect of intrauterine platelet-rich plasma (PRP) infusion on the endometrium with reassuring reproductive results. Thus, in this review, we focus on the current clinical and mechanical evidence on PRP and its effect on endometrial receptivity, and assess the features, benefits and limitations of the current studies and potential risks of PRP in ART.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been extensively investigated for the treatment of various diseases. The therapeutic potential of MSCs is attributed to complex cellular and molecular mechanisms of action including differentiation into multiple cell lineages and regulation of immune responses via immunomodulation. The plasticity of MSCs in immunomodulation allow these cells to exert different immune effects depending on different diseases. Understanding the biology of MSCs and their role in treatment is critical to determine their potential for various therapeutic applications and for the development of MSC-based regenerative medicine. This review summarizes the recent progress of particular mechanisms underlying the tissue regenerative properties and immunomodulatory effects of MSCs. We focused on discussing the functional roles of paracrine activities, direct cell-cell contact, mitochondrial transfer, and extracellular vesicles related to MSC-mediated effects on immune cell responses, cell survival, and regeneration. This will provide an overview of the current research on the rapid development of MSC-based therapies.

Abstract
<strong>BACKGROUND</strong> Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is a common reproductive system disease in women, characterized by endometrial stromal cell proliferation, increasing fibroblasts and increasing extracellular matrix secretion. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mitomycin C on reducing endometrial fibrosis for IUA. <strong>MATERIAL AND METHODS</strong> Firstly, a rat IUA model was constructed by intrauterine mechanical injury. The endometrial stromal cells and fibroblasts were isolated and treated with mitomycin C. After that, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to investigate the endometrial stromal cell viability. Furthermore, cell cycle and apoptosis assays of endometrial stromal cells and fibroblasts were performed, respectively. Finally, the cell viability of human endometrial cells or human uterus adhesion fibroblasts treated with mitomycin C was determined using CCK-8 assay with or without estradiol. <strong>RESULTS</strong> Endometrial stromal cells were isolated from a rat IUA model. Cell cycle assay results showed that mitomycin C inhibited cell viability and promoted G1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rat IUA endometrial stromal cells. Fibroblasts were also isolated from the rat IUA model. We found that mitomycin C inhibited the synthesis and secretion of collagen type I by western blotting analysis. Furthermore, mitomycin C promoted G1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in IUA rat uterine fibroblasts. We found that estradiol decreased the inhibitory effects of cell viability of human endometrial cells and human uterus adhesion fibroblasts by mitomycin C. <strong>CONCLUSIONS</strong> Our findings revealed that mitomycin C could reduce endometrial fibrosis for intrauterine adhesion.

Abstract
Intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) are bands of fibrous tissue that form in the endometrial cavity and associated with the increased risk of abnormal menstruation, recurrent pregnancy loss, secondary infertility, and pregnancy complications. Physical barriers, including intrauterine device and hydrogel, were clinical available to prevent the post-operational IUAs. But physically separation of the injured endometrium relies on the own limited healing power and often ends with recurrence. In recent years, the mechanisms driving IUAs treatment has validated the application of hormones, and further stem cell therapy has also led to the development of novel therapeutic agents with promising efficacy in pre-clinical and initial clinical studies. Still, it is challenging to delivery the therpaeutic factors to the injured uterus. Herein, in this review, we discuss the traditional intervention methods for the prevention of IUAs, as well as novel therapeutics and delivery strategies that will most likely change the treatment paradigms for better clinical outcomes. The combination strategy that using physical barriers as the delivery carriers for therapeutics might provide new alternatives for the prevention of IUAs.

Abstract
Human endometrium has a key role in implantation process. The measurement of endometrial thickness is the most commonly used in clinical practice. Managing patients with thin endometrium still represents a major challenge for clinicians. The objective of this systematic review was to investigate all available interventions to improve endometrial thickness (EMT) in women with history of thin endometrium undergoing fresh or frozen-thawed embryo transfers (ET). We performed a comprehensive search of relevant studies from January 1978 to February 2018. The different strategies were categorized as hormonal, vascular, and growth factor approaches and specifically analyzed according to the type of ET. Thirty-one studies were included. Overall, quality of the evidence ranged from very low to moderate, with only few randomized controlled trials that support the use of either GnRH analogues in fresh ET or sildenafil in frozen ET for enhancing endometrial growth. Besides, intensified estradiol administration is a common approach that might improve EMT in frozen ET. The present review evidences the paucity of reliable data regarding the efficiency of different interventions aiming at increasing EMT before fresh or frozen-thawed ET. Robust and high-quality randomized controlled trials are still needed before guidelines can be established.
