Abstract
Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is a simple and highly effective sample-preparation technique for water analysis. However, the extraction coverage of a given SPME device with a specific coating can be an issue when analyzing multiple environmental contaminants. Therefore, instead of synthesizing one sorbent material with dual or multiple functions, we investigated a new strategy of preparing SPME blades using a homogeneous slurry made by mixing three different sorbent particles─namely, hydrophobic/lipophilic balanced (HLB), HLB-weak cationic exchange (HLB-WCX), and HLB-weak anionic exchange (HLB-WAX)─with a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) binder. The developed coating is matrix compatible, as the binder functions not only as a glue for immobilizing the sorbent particles but also as a porous filter, which only allows small molecules to enter the pores and interact with the particles, thus avoiding contamination from large elements. The results confirmed that the proposed mixed-coating SPME device provides good extraction performance for polar and nonpolar as well as positively and negatively charged compounds. Based on this device, three comprehensive analytical methodologies─high-throughput SPME-LC-MS/MS (for the quantitative analysis of targeted drugs of abuse and artificial sweeteners), in-bottle SPME-LC-high resolution MS (HRMS) (for the untargeted screening of organic contaminants), and on-site drone sampling SPME-LC-HRMS (for on-site sampling and untargeted screening)─were developed for use in environmental water analysis. The resultant data confirm that the proposed strategies enable comprehensive water quality assessment by using a single SPME device.

Abstract
This study introduced a new microextraction method named temperature-induced dispersive solid-phase extraction. The performance of the method was demonstrated with the determination of Sudan dyes in food and natural water samples. In this method, a low quantity of sorbent was added to the aqueous solution and the mixture was shaken manually for about one minute. Then, the solution was heated in an ultrasonic water bath, and the sorbent was dissolved. Subsequently, the solution was cooled down with ice water, and consequently, the solubility of the sorbent was reduced in the sample solution and became cloudy. The phase separation was accelerated by centrifugation. The upper liquid phase was picked up using a syringe, and the remainder was solved in methanol and introduced into the HPLC for analysis. Various parameters affecting the extraction yield were evaluated. Analytical parameters, including limits of detection (0.011-0.016 μg/L) and quantification (0.038-0.055 μg/L), relative standard deviations (2.3%-3.1%), and preconcentration factor (40) proved the high efficiency of the developed method for the analysis of Sudan dyes. The proposed method was used to measure Sudan dyes in water and food samples and showed good extraction recoveries (95.0%-103.5%).

Abstract
Continuous release of pollutants into the environment poses serious threats to environmental sustainability and human health. For trace-level analysis of pollutants, layered double hydroxide (LDH) is an attractive option to impart enhanced sorption capability and sensitivity toward pollutants because of its unique layered structure, tunable interior architecture, high anion-exchange capacities, and high porosity (e.g., Zn/Cr LDH/DABCO-IL, Ni/Al LDH, CS-Ni/Fe LDH, SDS-Fe3O4@SiO2@Mg-Al LDH, Boeh/Mg/Al LDH/pC, and Fe@NiAl LDH). In concert with the well-defined analytical methodologies (e.g., HPLC and GC), the LDH materials can be employed to detect trace-level targets (e.g., as low as ∼ 20 fg/L for phenols) in aqueous environments. This review highlights LDH as a promising material for pre-treatment of a variety of organic and inorganic target pollutants in complex real matrices. Challenges and future requirements for research into LDH-based analytical methods are also discussed.

Abstract
Abstract
Herein, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem four-stage mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS) combined with a novel polyamide membrane extraction was used to rapidly determine industrial dyes in grain and meat products. Polyamide was used as an adsorbent in the membrane. When the sample was treated by the polyamide membrane, the industrial dyes were absorbed by the N-propyl Ethylenediamine (PSA) into the polyamide membrane, while most other ingredients were passed through the membrane. Then, the industrial dyes were eluted from the polyamide membrane by different solvents to be analyzed by UPLC–MS/MS. The novel pretreat method will reduce the time of the whole process to less than 30 minutes. The recovery of the dye was between 71% and 126%, and the precision was between 3 and 13. The results showed that the polyamide membrane can be used as a pretreatment method for detecting multicomponent industrial dyes in grain and meat products, which is rapid, simple, reliable and accurate.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Para Red (PR) and Sudan dyes have been illegally used as colorants to adulterate certain foods by enhancing their red/orange colour. In addition, they are toxic and carcinogenic. This work presents the development of a simple flow injection chromatographic method combined with chemometric tools to perform the determination of PR, Sudan I (SI) and Sudan II (SII) in food samples. The flow chromatographic system consisted of a low-pressure manifold coupled to a reverse phase monolithic column. A Partial Least Square (PLS) model was applied to resolve overlapped absorption spectra registered for each dye at the corresponding retention time. The relative errors of calibration (RMSECV, %) were 0.49, 0.85 and 0.23, and the relative errors of prediction (RMSEP, %) were 1.12, 0.75 and 0.33 for PR, SI and SII, respectively. The residual predictive deviation (RPD) values obtained were higher than 3.00 for all analytes. The method was successfully applied to quantify the dyes in six different commercial spices samples. The results were compared with the HPLC reference method concluding that there were no significant differences at the studied confidence level (α = 0.05). The proposed method can be used to rapidly determine the analytes in a simple, reliable, low-cost and environmentally-friendly manner. Abstract
Fiber-in-tube solid-phase microextraction (fiber-in-tube SPME) with short capillary longitudinally packed with fine fibers as extraction device allows direct coupling to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems to determine weakly volatile or thermally labile compounds. This technique associates the advantages of miniaturized and analytical on-line systems. Major achievements include the use of different capillaries (fused-silica, copper, stainless steel, polyetheretherketone (PEEK), or poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE)) that are packed with neat fibers (Zylon®, silk, or Kevlar 29®) or fibers (stainless steel, basalt, or carbon) functionalized with selective coatings (aerogels, ionic liquids (ILs), polymeric ionic liquids (PILs), molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), layered double hydroxides (LDHs), or conducting polymer). This review outlines the fundamental theory and the innovative extraction materials for fiber-in-tube SPME-HPLC systems and highlights their main applications in environmental and bioanalyses.

Abstract
A novel magnetic molybdenum disulfide@graphene (Fe3O4/MoS2@G) nanocomposite with amphiphilic properties was prepared via a co-mixing solvothermal method. To demonstrate the feasibility of Fe3O4/MoS2@G as a sorbent during sample preparation, it was employed for the magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of ten pyrethroids, three triazoles and two acaricide pyridaben and picoxystrobin in an emulsified aqueous solution. Dichloromethane was used as the extractant to form an emulsified aqueous solution. Subsequently, the Fe3O4/MoS2@G sorbent with amphiphilic properties was used to retrieve 15 wide polarity insecticides from dichloromethane via MSPE. The proposed method has the advantage of being applicable to different polar pesticides, strengthening the capacity of enrichment and purification of target analytes. The π-π interaction between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties of Fe3O4/MoS2@G and the aromatic rings of target analytes were responsible for the efficient sorption. Thus, a reliable, convenient, and efficient method for the analysis of 15 insecticides with wide polarity in wolfberry samples was established by coupling Fe3O4/MoS2@G nanocomposite MSPE with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The obtained linearity of this method was in the range from 1 to 5000 ng mL-1 for 15 analytes, with determination coefficients (R2) ≥0.9907. The limit of detection (LOD) for 15 insecticides was in the range from 0.1 to 5.0 ng g-1. The recoveries of 15 insecticides from spiked wolfberry samples were in the range from 71.41% to 110.53%, and RSD was less than 14.8%.

Abstract
In-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) was developed about 24 years ago as an effective sample preparation technique using an open tubular capillary column as an extraction device. IT-SPME is useful for micro-concentration, automated sample cleanup, and rapid online analysis, and can be used to determine the analytes in complex matrices simple sample processing methods such as direct sample injection or filtration. IT-SPME is usually performed in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography using an online column switching technology, in which the entire process from sample preparation to separation to data analysis is automated using the autosampler. Furthermore, IT-SPME minimizes the use of harmful organic solvents and is simple and labor-saving, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly green analytical technique. Various operating systems and new sorbent materials have been developed to improve its extraction efficiency by, for example, enhancing its sorption capacity and selectivity. In addition, IT-SPME methods have been widely applied in environmental analysis, food analysis and bioanalysis. This review describes the present state of IT-SPME technology and summarizes its current trends and future perspectives, including method development and strategies to improve extraction efficiency.

Abstract
A thin-film based on 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane surface-modified Ce-doped zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxide was synthesized on the inner surface of an aluminum tube. It has been applied to in-tube stir bar sorptive extraction of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in saliva samples followed by high-performance liquid chromatography. The sorbent was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and elemental mapping. The extraction parameters including sample pH (4.2), extraction time (10 min), stirring speed (800 rpm), type of eluent (acidified tetrahydrofuran), eluent volume (100 μL), and desorption time (6 min) were thoroughly optimized. Under the optimum conditions, limits of detection were found to be less than 5.0 ng mL-1. Calibration plots were linear within the range 10-1000 ng mL-1 (R2 > 0.9982). Absolute recoveries were calculated in the range 63.5 to 72.4%. The repeatability (intra- and inter-day precision) and reproducibility (tube-to-tube precision) at concentrations of 50, 250, and 500 ng mL-1 were less than 7.6% and 9.4%, respectively. The method accuracy based on the relative error was calculated at these concentrations and ranged from - 4.9 to - 9.3% for intra-day relative error (%) and - 6.8 to - 11% for inter-day relative error (%). Finally, the method applicability was examined for the determination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in saliva samples, and good relative recoveries were obtained within the range 86.5 to 95.2%. As a result, the introduced method can be applied as a suitable alternative to measuring nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in biological fluids. Graphical abstract A surface-modified Ce-doped ZnAl LDH thin film was synthesized on the inner surface of an Al tube and applied for in-tube stir bar sorptive extraction of NSAIDs in saliva.
