Abstract
To develop further novel environmentally friendly antifungal agents with high efficacy, a series of pyrazole-5-sulfonamide derivatives were designed and synthesized by using the active molecules synthesized in previous works as lead compounds. Their antifungal activities were evaluated in vitro against ten highly destructive plant pathogenic fungi. The bioassay results indicated that more than half of the target compounds displayed potent antifungal activities (inhibition rate ≥85%) against Valsa mali and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum at 20 mg/L. Among them, compound C22 exhibited significant broad-spectrum antifungal activities against V. mali, S. sclerotiorum, Rhizoctonia solani, Botrytis cinerea, and Trichoderma viride, with EC50 values of 0.45, 0.49, 3.06, 0.57, and 1.43 mg/L, respectively. Moreover, compounds C21 and C22 exhibited remarkable protective effects on apple Valsa canker similar to tebuconazole (89.5%) at 50 mg/L. Preliminary antifungal mechanism investigations demonstrated that compound C22 may have inhibited V. mali mycelial growth by inducing oxidative damage to the mycelium and compromising the integrity of the cell membrane. Meanwhile, compounds C21 and C22 exhibited no obvious toxicity to worker bees (Apis mellifera ligustica). Taken together, these pyrazole-5-sulfonamide derivatives, particularly compound C22, possess huge potential to be developed as novel environmentally friendly fungicides with high efficacy.

Abstract
The eleven new copper(II) and nickel(II) coordination compounds [Cu(L)Br]2 (1), [Cu(L)Cl] (2), [Cu(L)NO3] (3), [Ni(L)Cl] (4), [Ni(HL)2](NO3)2 (5), and [Cu(A)(L)]NO3, where A is 1,10-phenanthroline (6), 2,2'-bipyridine (7), 3,4-dimethylpyridine (8), 3-methylpyridine (9), pyridine (10) and imidazole (11) were synthesized with 3-(morpholin-4-yl)propane-2,3-dione 4-allylthiosemicarbazone (HL). The new thiosemicarbazone was characterized by NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. All the coordination compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. Also, the crystal structures of HL and complexes 1, 6, 7, and 11 were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Complex 1 has a dimeric molecular structure with two bromide bridging ligands, while 6, 7, and 11 are ionic compounds and comprise monomeric complex cations. The studied complexes manifest antibacterial and antifungal activities and also have an antiradical activity that, in many cases, surpasses the activity of trolox, which is used as a standard antioxidant in medicine. Copper complexes 1-3 have very weak antiradical properties (IC50 > 100 µM), but nickel complexes 4-5 are strong antiradicals with IC50 values lower than that of trolox. The mixed ligand copper complexes with additional ligand of N-heteroaromatic base are superior to complexes without these additional ligands. They are 1.4-5 times more active than trolox.

Novel Pyrazole Acyl(thio)urea Derivatives Containing a Biphenyl Scaffold as Potential Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitors: Design, Synthesis, Fungicidal Activity, and SAR. Abstract
As part of a program to discover novel succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor fungicides, a series of new pyrazole acyl(thio)urea compounds containing a diphenyl motif were designed and synthesized. Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, HRMS, and single X-ray crystal diffraction analysis. Most of these compounds possessed excellent activity against 10 fungal plant pathogens at 50 μg mL-1, especially against Rhizoctonia solani, Alternaria solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Botrytis cinerea, and Cercospora arachidicola. Interestingly, compounds 3-(difluoromethyl)-1-methyl-N-((3',4',5'-trifluoro-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yl)carbamoyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide (9b, EC50 = 0.97 ± 0.18 μg mL-1), 1,3-dimethyl-N-((3',4',5'-trifluoro-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yl)carbamoyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide (9a, EC50 = 2.63 ± 0.41 μg mL-1), and N-((4'-chloro-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yl)carbamoyl)-1,3-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide (9g, EC50 = 1.31 ± 0.15 μg mL-1) exhibited activities against S. sclerotiorum that were better than the commercial fungicide bixafen (EC50 = 9.15 ± 0.05 μg mL-1) and similar to the positive control fluxapyroxad (EC50 = 0.71 ± 0.11 μg mL-1). These compounds were not significantly phytotoxic to monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants. Structure-activity relationships (SAR) are discussed by substituent effects/molecular docking, and density functional theory analysis indicated that these compounds are succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors.

Abstract
To discover the pronounced acaricide candidate, herein, a series of 3-formyl-N-(un)substituted benzylindole pyrimidines were prepared by structural modification of indoles at the N-1 and C-3 positions via the successive Vilsmeier-Haack-Arnold (VHA), aldol condensation, and cyclization reactions. The steric structures of nine compounds were undoubtedly confirmed by X-ray single-crystallography. Against Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisduval, compounds V-15, V-31, V-34, V-42, V-44, and V-60 exhibited promising acaricidal activity with LC50 values of 0.299-0.481 mg/mL. In particular, compound V-34 displayed 4.2 times the acaricidal activity of its precursor 6-methylindole. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging revealed that the construction of the cuticle layer of V-34-treated T. cinnabarinus was seriously destroyed. Furthermore, RNA-Seq analysis indicated that compound V-34 could regulate the homeostasis metabolism of T. cinnabarinus through arachidonic acid and linoleic acid metabolism and lysosome pathways. These results suggested that compound V-34 can be further studied as a lead acaricidal agent.

Abstract
Developing new fungicides is always crucial to protecting crops. A series of 4-(3,4-dichloroisothiazol-5-yl)-7-(2-((5-(5-pyrimidin-4-yl)amino)ethoxy)-8-methyl) coumarin derivatives were designed and synthesized by Williamson ether condensation and substitution reactions. Structure determinations were clarified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS, and compound 4h crystallized by the fusion method for further structural confirmation. The in vitro bioassay results showed that the target compounds displayed good fungicidal activity against Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea, Cercospora arachidicola, Fusarium graminearum, Physalospora piricola, Rhizoctonia solani, and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Among them, compounds 4b and 4d showed higher inhibitory activity against R. solani, with EC50 values of 11.3 and 13.7 μg/mL, respectively, and they were more active than the positive control diflumetorim with an EC50 value of 19.8 μg/mL. Molecular docking suggested that compound 4b and diflumetorim may have similar interactions with complex I NADH oxidoreductase. Density functional theory calculation and pesticide-likeness analysis studies gave a rational explanation of their fungicidal activity. These results indicated that compounds 4b and 4d deserved further optimization according to the principle of pesticide-likeness.
