Abstract
Solvents influence the structure, aggregation and folding behaviors of solvatochromic compounds. Ultrasensitive solvent mediated chiroptical response is conducive to the fabrication of molecular platform for sensing and recognition, which however, remains great challenges in conceptual or applicable design. Here we report a cysteine-based single benzene chromophore system that shows ultrasensitivity to solvents. Compared to the ratiometrically responsive systems, the chiroptical activities could be triggered or inverted depending on the substituents of chiral entities with an ultralow solvent volume fraction (<1 vol %). One drop of dipolar solvents shall significantly induce the emergence or inversion of chiroptical signals in bulky phases. Based on the experimental and computational studies, the ultrasensitivity is contributed to the intimate interplay between solvents and chiral compounds that anchors the specific chiral conformation. It illustrates that structurally simple organic compounds without aggregation or folding behaviors possess pronounced solvatochiroptical properties, which sheds light on the next-generation of chiroptical sensors and switches.

Abstract
Organic compounds showing circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are at the forefront of novel applications and technologies. Here we show the synthesis and chiroptical properties of pyrene and perylene derivatives of inexpensive chiral scaffolds: isomannide and isosorbide. Low‐intensity ECD spectra were obtained, suggesting the absence of chromophore interaction in the ground state, except in the case of isomannide bis‐perylenecarboxylate, whose ECD spectrum showed a positive exciton couplet. All isomannide derivatives, with the only exception of the one containing a pyrenecarboxylate and a perylenecarboxylate, exhibited excimer CPL spectra, whereas isosorbide derivatives did not show any CPL. Isomannide derivatives bearing two pyrenecarboxylate or two pyrenylacetate groups showed positive CPL emission with dissymmetry factors up to 10−2, which depends on the conformational freedom of the appended units. The CPL sign, Stokes shift and order of magnitude of dissymmetry factor were reproduced by excited‐state calculations on a representative compound. Interestingly, the mixed derivative containing pyrenic units with different spacing from the isomannide scaffold showed an oppositely signed excimer band with respect to the homo‐substituted derivatives.

Abstract
Here, we designed symmetric and dissymmetric chiral V-shaped pyrenes by linking achiral pyrenes to trans-1,2-cyclohexane diamine scaffolds with varied spacers to investigate their circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized excimer emission (CPEE). In molecular solution, the symmetric V-shaped molecules (P1, P2, P3) displayed spacer-dependent CD and CPEE originating from the intramolecular excimers while the dissymmetric V-shaped B was silent in CD and CPEE. Upon self-assembly, the chiral V-shaped conformation guided a helical hexagonal packing. Notably, P1 self-assembled into delicate superhelices with optimum chiroptical activities and the largest gCD for pyrene derivatives to date. The dissymmetric B formed two distinct hexagonal aggregates as twists and rectangular nanotubes with greatly amplified CPEE. This work demonstrates unprecedented hexagonal superhelices from chiral V-shaped scaffolds and provides a deep insight into the relationship between molecular conformation, supramolecular architectures, and their chiroptical performance.

Abstract
Chiral oligopeptide-naphthalene/Eu(iii) hybridized luminophores emit strong circularly polarised solution-state luminescence (CPL) from Eu(iii) at 592 and 614 nm (|gCPL| ≤ 2.1 × 10−2). Although the peptide ligands have matching absolute configurations, the CPL sign is controllable by varying the number of naphthalene units and peptide/Eu(iii) coordination ratio. The CPL sign is controllable by varying the number of naphthalene units and peptide/Eu(iii) coordination ratio.![]()

Abstract
Upon combining chiral peptides (the most basic chiral source) with pyrene moieties, we found that chiral oligopeptides bearing two-pendant pyrenyl units exhibited circularly polarised luminescence (CPL) originating from intramolecular excimers at 450-490 nm in various solvents, and the sign of their CPL signals depended on the type of solvent employed. The CPL and circular dichroism signs and intensities could be tuned by the introduction of a piperidine unit into the chiral peptide chain; thus, the obtained structure could be considered a practical Lock ON-OFF system for oligopeptide luminophores.

Abstract
Chirality transfer from circular dichroism (CD)-silent secondary alcohol (inductor) to the stereodynamic bichromophoric di(1-naphthyl)methane probe (reporter) led to the generation of intense, induced exciton-type Cotton effects (CEs) in the ultraviolet-visible absorption region. The di(1-naphthyl)methane probe exhibits extraordinarily high sensitivity to even small structural variations of the alcohol skeleton, that is, the probe is able to distinguish between an oxygen atom and a methylene group in a 3-hydroxytetrahydrofurane skeleton. Signs and amplitudes of the exciton couplets of 1Bb electronic transition might be correlated with the type of stereo-differentiating parts of the molecule flanking the stereogenic center, however, not with the absolute configuration. The origin of the induced CEs was established by means of experimental and theoretical methods. As a result, a mechanism of chirality transfer from the permanent stereogenic center to the bichromophore is proposed.

Abstract
A new strategy to manipulate the circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) handedness in chiral emitters, based on modulating the population of an emissive ICT state, is proposed. Such a strategy is particularly interesting for conformationally rigid and non-aggregating chiral organic emitters, opening up new perspectives for the development of CPL applications based on organic molecules.

Abstract
A novel mechanism for chiroptical activity inversion based on the electronic structure of metal complexes without Λ- or Δ-type structure change was demonstrated spectroscopically and theoretically. To demonstrate the mechanism, a europium (Eu(III)) complex with chiral (+)-3-(trifluoroacetyl)camphor (+tfc) and achiral triphenylphosphine oxide (tppo) was prepared. The steric and electronic structures of the Eu(III) complex were adjusted by additional achiral tppo and coordinating acetone molecules, and were characterised by 1H NMR, photoluminescence, and emission lifetime measurements. The optical activity of the Eu(III) complex in solution was evaluated by circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) measurements. CPL sign inversion, which was independent of Λ- or Δ-type structure changes from the spectroscopic viewpoint, and a drastic CPL intensity enhancement were observed depending on the external achiral molecules around Eu(III) ion. These phenomena provide the first clarification of optical activity change associated with electronic structure rather than chiral coordination structure-type (Λ or Δ) under external environments.

Ambidextrous Chirality Transfer Capability from Cellulose Tris(phenylcarbamate) to Nonhelical Chainlike Luminophores: Achiral Solvent-Driven Helix-Helix Transition of Oligo- and Polyfluorenes Revealed by Sign Inversion of Circularly Polarized Luminescence and Circular Dichroism Spectra. Abstract
We investigated whether helicity and/or chirality of cellulose tris(phenylcarbamate) (CTPC) can transfer to noncharged, nonhelical oligo- and polyfluorenes when CTPC was employed as a solution processable homochiral platform of a D-glucose-skeletal polymer. Noticeably, CTPC revealed the solvent-driven, ambidextrous intermolecular helicity/chirality transfer capability to these fluorenes. The chiroptical inversion characteristics of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) and the corresponding CD spectra were realized by solely choosing a proper achiral solvent and/or achiral cosolvent. When the solution of PF6 and CTPC in tetrahydrofuran (THF) was cast on a quartz substrate, the dissymmetry ratio of CPL (gCPL) from the polymer film showed gCPL = +2.1 × 10-3 at 429 nm. Conversely, when dichloromethane (DCM) was used as the solvent, the CPL sign was inverted to gCPL = -2.4 × 10-3 at 429 nm. The dissymmetry ratio of Cotton CD band (gCD) from the THF solution was gCD = +3.2 × 10-3 at 392 nm; conversely, from the DCM, the CD sign inverted to gCD = -0.8 × 10-3 at 371 nm. The sign and magnitude of the gCD values were interpreted to a London dispersion term (δd) of Hansen solubility parameter (δ) of the casting solvents rather than a dipole-dipole interaction term (δp) and a hydrogen bonding interaction term (δh) of the δ values and dielectric constant (ε). Analysis of solvent-driven changes in FTIR spectra, wide-angle X-ray diffraction profiles, and differential scanning calorimetry diagrams indicated that solvent driven on-off switching of multiple hydrogen bonds due to three urethane groups of CTPC play the key for the inversion. Intermolecular CH/π and π-π interactions among phenyl rings and alkyl groups were assumed to be crucial for helicity/chirality transfer capability based on molecular mechanics and molecular dynamics simulations of PF6-CTPC hybrids. These chiroptical inversion characteristics arose from solvent-driven order-disorder transition characteristics of the CTPC helix rather than a helix-helix transition of CTPC itself.
