Abstract
Cachexia is characterized by severe weight loss and skeletal muscle depletion, and is a threat to cancer patients by worsening their prognosis. International guidelines set indications for the screening and diagnosis of cancer cachexia and suggest interventions (nutritional support, physical exercise, and pharmacological treatments). Nevertheless, real-life experience not always aligns with such indications. We aimed to review the current state of the field and the main advancements, with a focus on real-life clinical practice from the perspectives of oncologists, nutrition professionals, and radiologists. Pragmatic solutions are proposed to improve the current management of the disease, emphasizing the importance of increasing awareness of clinical nutrition's benefits, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, promoting early identification of at-risk patients, and leveraging available resources. Given the distinct needs of patients who are receiving oncologic anti-cancer treatments and those in the follow-up phase, the use of tailored approaches is encouraged. The pivotal role of healthcare professionals in managing patients in active treatment is highlighted, while patient and caregiver empowerment should be strengthened in the follow-up phase. Telemedicine and web-based applications represent valuable tools for continuous monitoring of patients, facilitating timely and personalized intervention through effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. These actions can potentially improve the outcomes, well-being, and survival of cancer patients with cachexia.

Abstract
Introduction An accessible and affordable way to deliver behavior change programs to a large proportion of the growing community of cancer patients and survivors is through web-based methods of nutritional counselling. Objective The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effectiveness of web-based nutritional therapies targeting physical activity, diet, and/or weight control for cancer patients or survivors, primarily disseminated via modern technologies (mobile phone applications) or online. Materials and methods The authors conducted a structured search of the PubMed database. Studies that have focused on physical activity (PA) and dietary change and/or weight control in adolescent and adult cancer patients and survivors have reported outcomes conducted via a broad modality. Results Nine articles focused on web-based nutrition for patients with cancer and cancer survivors. They were conducted in the United States, Australia, Korea, China, and in the United Kingdom, and were published between 2018 and 2022 in a variety of scientific journals. The number of participants ranged from 20 to 159. Conclusion Web-based nutrition counselling helps cancer patients and survivors improve their dietary intake, impacts their weight and quality of life, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Future research should evaluate (1) the differences in cost and coverage between face-to-face and web-based nutrition, (2) long-term outcomes, (3) cost-effectiveness, and last but not least, (4) the effectiveness of web-based nutrition in adolescents and children who suffer from cancer or who survived cancer, as nutritional status and body composition have a marked impact on clinical outcomes during and after treatment. The strength of this review lies in the large number of randomized controlled trials, which offer a guarantee of effectiveness and objectivity compared to cross-sectional studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To verify whether the presence of related nutritional risk indicators prior to COVID-19 diagnosis is associated with poor survival in patients with cancer. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the data of hospitalized cancer patients who tested positive for COVID-19 between March 2020 and February 2021. Nutritional risk was defined as the presence of one of the following characteristics: body mass index <20kg/m 2 , scored Patient-generated Subjective Global Assessment ≥9 points or classification B, albumin level <3.5g/dL, and C-reactive protein level ≥10mg/L, evaluated between 7 and 60 days prior to the date of patient inclusion. The endpoint measure was all-cause mortality within 30 days of COVID-19 diagnosis. RESULTS A total of 253 patients were included, most of whom were elderly (62.4%) and female (63.6%). Overall, 45.4% of the patients were at nutritional risk. Survival was significantly lower in patients at nutritional risk (8 days; interquartile range [IQR]: 3-29) than in patients not at nutritional risk (16 days; IQR: 6-30) (p<0.001). The presence of prior nutritional risk was associated with increased 30-day mortality (HR: 1.42; 95%CI: 1.03-1.94), regardless of age, gender, tumor site or stage, and other risk factors, and the model had good discrimination accuracy (concordance statistic: 0.744). CONCLUSION The presence of prior nutritional risk indicators is related to poor prognosis in patients with cancer and COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of nutritional care, notably during this pandemic.

BACKGROUND COVID-19 has rapidly emerged as a global public health threat with infections recorded in nearly every country. Responses to COVID-19 have varied in intensity and breadth, but generally have included domestic and international travel limitations, closure of non-essential businesses, and repurposing of health services. While these interventions have focused on testing, treatment, and mitigation of COVID-19, there have been reports of interruptions to diagnostic, prevention, and treatment services for other public health threats. OBJECTIVES We conducted a scoping review to characterize the early impact of COVID-19 on HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and malnutrition. METHODS A scoping literature review was completed using searches of PubMed and preprint servers (medRxiv/bioRxiv) from November 1st, 2019 to October 31st, 2020, using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms related to SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19 and HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and malnutrition. Empiric studies reporting original data collection or mathematical models were included, and available data synthesized by region. Studies were excluded if they were not written in English. RESULTS A total of 1604 published papers and 205 preprints were retrieved in the search. Overall, 8.0% (129/1604) of published studies and 10.2% (21/205) of preprints met the inclusion criteria and were included in this review: 7.3% (68/931) on HIV, 7.1% (24/339) on tuberculosis, 11.6% (26/224) on malaria, 7.8% (19/183) on sexual and reproductive health, and 9.8% (13/132) on malnutrition. Thematic results were similar across competing health risks, with substantial indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and response on diagnostic, prevention, and treatment services for HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and malnutrition. DISCUSSION COVID-19 emerged in the context of existing public health threats that result in millions of deaths every year. Thus, effectively responding to COVID-19 while minimizing the negative impacts of COVID-19 necessitates innovation and integration of existing programs that are often siloed across health systems. Inequities have been a consistent driver of existing health threats; COVID-19 has worsened disparities, reinforcing the need for programs that address structural risks. The data reviewed here suggest that effective strengthening of health systems should include investment and planning focused on ensuring the continuity of care for both rapidly emergent and existing public health threats.

Abstract
During the period (2019-2021), the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread rapidly and
caused massive mortality worldwide. Patients with decreased immunity such as cancer
patients remained at a high risk of getting an infection because of compromised immunity.
Also, as per literature, advanced age and comorbidities further added to the risk of
getting the COVID-19 infection in patients undergoing radiation/chemotherapy. The very
thoughts of disease progression and treatment delays, which were among the major patient
concerns during this period, lead to an environment of fear among cancer patients and
their caregivers. To combat it, besides amendments in treatment policies, effective
communication with patients and their caregivers was essential. The article thus aims to
overview the various concerns of the patients and highlight the potential role that
health-related communication played during the 2 phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The average body weight of the Chinese population is rising rapidly over the past two decades and the old 2001 body mass index (BMI) cut-off value for malnutrition may underestimate malnutrition diagnosis. We explored the BMI cut-off value for malnutrition diagnosis based on national BMI data over the past 30 years and applied it to the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria when investigating malnutrition in hospitalized older adult patients. METHODS To explore the BMI cut-off value for malnutrition, we established a linear stepwise model to predict the annual increasing BMI trend based on data from the national BMI dataset (1990-2009). The new cut-off value was applied to a large-scale dataset from a cross-sectional study pertaining to older hospitalized patients (≥65) recruited from 30 large hospitals in China. RESULTS The average BMI increased from 21.8 to 23 kg/m2 in two decades. Using the linear model, we calculated that the net BMI increase will be 1.49 kg/m2 from 2009 to 2019. We subsequently proposed that the BMI cut-off value for malnutrition should rise to 20 kg/m2 . This cut-off value was applied to the validation dataset, containing 8,725 patients, and the GLIM-determined malnutrition rate was 24.58% (using the NRS-2002) and 23.32% (using the MNA-SF). The results significantly differed from those obtained using the 2001 Chinese BMI criteria (p<0.001). CONCLUSION The GLIM tool has good applicability in Asian populations, especially in Chinese older adult patients. The BMI cut-off value for malnutrition should be adjusted to 20 kg/m2 for Chinese adults. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Abstract
Malnutrition is a frequent comorbidity in people with cancer, associated with poor tolerance of anticancer treatments, prognosis, and quality of life. Despite the abundance of scientific literature supporting this evidence and the availability of international guidelines for managing nutritional care in people with cancer, attitudes about this issue still vary considerably among oncologists, to the point that many patients who are malnourished do not receive adequate nutritional support. In view of this, the Italian Association of Medical Oncology, the Italian Society of Artificial Nutrition and Metabolism, and the Italian Federation of Volunteer-based Cancer Organizations implemented in 2016 a collaborative working group and initiated a structured project called Integrating Nutritional Therapy in Oncology, with the aim of increasing oncologists' awareness of nutritional issues and consequently improving the nutritional care of cancer patients in Italy. In 2019, the Italian Society of Oncological Surgery and the Technical Scientific Association of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics joined the working group. In this article, we present the updated initiatives and the perspectives of this intersociety project.

Abstract
This systematic review aims to gather primary data from cancer institutions that have implemented changes to cancer service provision amid the COVID-19 outbreak to inform future intervention and health care facility response strategies. A comprehensive literature search was done on Global Health Medline and EMBASE using pertinent key words and MeSH terms relating to COVID-19 and Cancer service provision. A total of 72 articles were selected for inclusion in this systematic review. Following the narrative synthesis that was conducted of the literature, 6 core themes that encompassed common cancer service intervention adopted by institutions were identified: (1) Testing and Tracking, (2) Outreach and Communication, (3) Protection, (4) Social Distancing (5) Treatment Management, (6) Service Restructuring. Since cancer patients are a high-risk population amid the COVID-19 pandemic, these areas of targeted intervention can be used to inform necessary actions in institutions facing similar risks, based on previous learning from numerous cancer centers globally.
