Abstract
Recently, covalent organic frameworks have gained popularity in sample pretreatment. However, the application of covalent organic frameworks in the enrichment of hydrophilic compounds remains a challenge. Thus, a functionalized magnetic covalent organic framework equipped with amino groups was constructed using a bottom-up functionalization strategy. Considering the advantages of this novel adsorbent such as high porosity, large adsorption capacity, and hydrophilic surface, a sensitive magnetic solid-phase extraction coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was established for the effective determination of neonicotinoids. This method exhibited good linearities with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.9983 to 0.9995, low detection limits in the range 0.003-0.009 ng g-1 and 0.001-0.013 ng mL-1, and limits of quantification in the range 0.010-0.031 ng g-1 and 0.004-0.044 ng mL-1. Furthermore, satisfactory repeatability with relative standard deviations ≤ 6.7% and spiked recoveries between 82.3 and 99.8% were obtained. This work not only provided a promising adsorbent for the sensitive determination of trace-level neonicotinoids but also represented a unique insight for effective enrichment of super hydrophilic hazards.

An ultrastable 2D covalent organic framework coating for headspace solid-phase microextraction of organochlorine pesticides in environmental water. JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2023; 452:131228. Abstract
Herein, a quinoline-linked ultrastable 2D covalent organic framework (COF-CN) coated fiber was successfully prepared and used for highly-sensitive headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in environmental water. The extraction efficiency of the COF-CN coating for all 14 OCPs was higher than that of four commercial SPME fiber coatings and most of the published works, with enrichment factors ranging from 540 to 5065. In combination with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS), a wide linear range (0.05-200 ng/L), low detection limits (LODs, 0.0010-13.54 ng/L) and satisfactory reproducibility and repeatability were obtained under optimal conditions. Compared with the published works, the LODs of the developed technique were improved 2-5.9 times, and the enrichment factors (EFs) of the developed method were enhanced at least 2 times. The COF-CN coated fiber can be easily recycled and reused at least 70 times without any washing step. The adsorption mechanism was first characterized by density functional theory calculations and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. Besides, the established method was successfully applied to the analysis of the distribution of trace OCPs in real water samples from Henan Province. All these results proved the promising application of the developed HS-SPME-GC-MS/MS method for organic pollutants analysis in water samples.

Abstract
A magnetic starch modified with 3,5-diaminobenzoic acid and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (Fe-starch@DABA-APTES) was synthesized and applied as adsorbent for the extraction of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). Magnetic solid-phase extraction was developed using 75 mg of the sorbent and 15 mL of a sample solution. Extraction was conducted on a vortex mixer for 40 s. The adsorbent was collected using an external magnet before eluting the analytes using 0.5 mL of methanol. Quantification of the analytes was performed using gas chromatography with a micro-electron capture detector. The linearity was obtained for the studied OCPs in the range between 0.01 - 2.00 μg L-1. The detection and quantification limits were obtained in ranges of 0.5 - 4.0 and 1.5 - 15.0 ng L-1, respectively, with enrichment factors of up to 39. The precision in terms of the intra- and inter-day relative standard deviations (RSDs) were below 4.75, and 9.25%, respectively. The developed method has been applied in natural water and agricultural product samples. The recoveries ranged between 59.83 - 132.67% (RSDs < 10.73%).

Abstract
This study describes a versatile, robust and fast sample pre-concentration novel method based on chemical vapour deposition grown iron nanoparticles dispersed hierarchical carbon fiber forest (Fe-ACF/CNF) for the determination of multi-pesticide residue in water samples. This method was developed by the implementation of Fe-ACF/CNF to magnetic solid-phase extraction method (MSPE) for the adsorption of twenty-nine pesticides of various classes using gas chromatography equipped with an electron capture detector. Fe-ACF/CNF was grown via tip growth mechanism and Fe-nanoparticles are moved to the tip of CNF. The presence of Fe-nanoparticles is responsible for the magnetic property of proposed adsorbents. The Fe-ACF/CNF is competent enough to extract twenty-nine pesticides of different physico-chemical characteristics from water samples. All the predominant parameters including the amount of sorbent desorption time, temperature, sonication effect, regeneration, and reusability of Fe-ACF/CNF were thoroughly investigated. Acceptable linearity was obtained in the range of 20-500 μg/L with a correlation coefficient value ≥ 0.990 for all pesticides. The accuracy of the developed method was evaluated and the obtained recovery of the spiked samples was within 70-120% (standard deviation ≤ 15%) and reusability up to the 4th cycle. The limit of detection and quantification values was in the range of 1.44-5.15 and 4.76-17.0 μg/L, respectively. The obtained results are also cross verified with real water samples from the Gomti river (Lucknow, India) and shown the excellent extraction efficiency of Fe-ACF/CNF.

Abstract
Phthalate esters are synthetic chemicals that are widely used in plastic industries as plasticizer. They are harmful to humans and could be carcinogenic. In this research, a new nanosorbent was prepared via a Schiff-base reaction between p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2 nanoparticles. A characterization of the sorbent was performed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. A modified nanosorbent has a core shell structure, and shows a great tendency towards the sorption of phthalate esters. Hence, it was utilized for the dispersive solid-phase extraction of six phthalate esters and determination by gas chromatography-flame ionization detection. Several variables, such as the pH, sorbent amount, salt effects, extraction and desorption time, extraction solvent type and volume, were investigated to establish the optimal conditions. Calibration graphs were linear in the range of 1.0 - 150.0 μg L-1 for dimethyl phthalate, bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, di-n-octyl phthalate and 0.1 - 200.0 μg L-1 for diethyl phthalate, di-n-butyl phthalate and butyl benzyl phthalate, respectively. The obtained limits of detections (S/N = 3) were in the range of 0.02 - 0.31 μg L-1. Application of the method for the enrichment and determination of phthalate esters in mineral water, natural low fat yogurt and sodium chloride infusion (0.9%, w/v) was investigated.

Abstract
Pollution has been less investigated in marine and coastal environments than in inland waters. The low levels at which pollutants are expected to be present in seawater calls for the use of reliable and high sensitivity analytical methodologies. In this context, this work presents the optimization and validation of an analytical method to determine 26 medium to highly polar pesticides in seawater based on solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry detection. The developed methodology was linear, accurate (relative recoveries within 80-120% for most analytes), repeatable (relative standard deviations <18% for most analytes), and sensitive (limits of determination <1 ng/L for 89% of the compounds). The use of isotopically labeled compounds as surrogate standards compensated for low analyte recoveries and matrix effects. The method was applied to the analysis of seawater samples collected along the coastline of Catalonia (NE Spain). Overall, total pesticide loads were higher inside the marinas than outside. The booster biocides diuron and irgarol used in antifouling paintings and different triazine pesticides were the most abundant compounds. Irgarol was present above the maximum allowable concentration set in European regulations in 70% of the samples collected inside the marinas. A different pesticide pollution pattern, with MCPA and bentazone presenting the highest concentrations, was observed at the Ebro Delta area due to the impact of the agricultural activities carried out there. To the authors' knowledge, 4 out of the 26 target pesticides, namely, chlorfenvinphos, fenthion oxon, fenthion sulfone, and fenthion sulfoxide, have not been previously investigated in seawater.

Abstract
This article describes a simple, efficient, and versatile magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNT) method for sampling and pre-concentration of pesticides in environmental water samples. The multi-walled magnetic carbon nanotubes were obtained by chemical deposition vapor (CVD) process. The MCNTs structures are formed of hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions that provide great dispersion at any water matrix allowing simultaneously a high efficiency of pesticides sorption. Following the extraction, analytes were desorbed with minor amounts of solvent and analyzed by gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The parameters amount of MCNTs used to extraction, desorption time, and desorption temperature were optimized. The method showed good linearity with determination coefficients between 0.9040 and 0.9733. The limits of detection and quantification were ranged between 0.51 and 2.29µgL-1 and between 1.19 and 5.35µgL-1 respectively. The recovery ranged from 79.9% to 111.6%. The method was applied to the determination of fifteen multiclass pesticides in real samples of environmental water collected in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
