Abstract
Four new diarylmethylamine imine compounds (5a-5d) were prepared in order to examine their DNA binding properties, antimicrobial activity and molecular docking. The compounds were characterized by the common spectroscopic and analytic methods. Furthermore, solid-state structure of compounds 5a and 5c were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The compounds were then investigated for their DNA binding properties employing UV absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy under the physiological pH condition Tris-HCl buffer at pH 7.4. The compounds 5a-5d showed moderate binding constants with Kb values of 3.56 ± 0.3 × 104, 2.18 ± 0.2 × 105, 1.44 ± 0.3 × 105 and 2.56 ± 0.3 × 104 M-1, respectively. The molecular dockings were performed to investigate the ligand-DNA interactions. The in-silico DNA-compound interaction studies showed that the compounds interact with DNA in groove binding mode. Antimicrobial activity studies of imine compounds were tested against E. coli as bacteria, S. typhimurium, S. aureus, B. cereus, B. subtilis, and C. albicans as fungi. While all compounds show moderate activity against bacteria, no activity against fungi has been investigated.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
A number of novel heteroligand Zn(II) complexes (1-8) of the general type (Ln)Zn(NN) containing O,N,O'-, O,N,S-donor redox-active Schiff bases and neutral N,N'-chelating ligands (NN) were synthesized. The target Schiff bases LnH2 were obtained as a result of the condensation of 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde with substituted o-aminophenols or o-aminothiophenol. These ligands with combination with 2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline, and neocuproine are able to form stable complexes upon coordination with zinc(II) ion. The molecular structures of complexes 4∙H2O, 6, and 8 in crystal state were determined by means of single-crystal X-ray analysis. In the prepared complexes, the redox-active Schiff bases are in the form of doubly deprotonated dianions and act as chelating tridentate ligands. Complexes 6 and 8 possess a strongly distorted pentacoordinate geometry while 4∙H2O is hexacoordinate and contains water molecule coordinated to the central zinc atom. The electrochemical properties of zinc(II) complexes were studied by the cyclic voltammetry. For the studied complexes, O,N,O'- or O,N,S-donor Schiff base ligands are predominantly involved in electrochemical transformations in the anodic region, while the N,N'-coordinated neutral nitrogen donor ligands demonstrate the electrochemical activity in the cathode potential range. A feature of complexes 5 and 8 with sterically hindered tert-butyl groups is the possibility of the formation of relatively stable monocation and monoanion forms under electrochemical conditions. The values of the energy gap between the boundary redox orbitals were determined by electrochemical and spectral methods. The parameters obtained in the first case vary from 1.97 to 2.42 eV, while the optical bang gap reaches 2.87 eV.

Abstract
The newly synthesized organometallic acetyl ferrocene imine ligand (HL) was obtained by the direct combination of 2-acetyl ferrocene with 2-aminothiophenol. The electronic and molecular structure of acetyl ferrocene imine ligand (HL) was refined theoretically and the chemical quantum factors were computed. Complexes of the acetyl ferrocene imine ligand with metal(II)/(III) ions (Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II)) were fabricated. They were inspected by thermal (DTG/TG), spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, 1H NMR, mass, UV-Vis), molar conductivity, and CHNClM to explicate their structures. Studies using scanning electron microscope (SEM) were conducted on the free acetyl ferrocene imine ligand and its Cd(II) chelate to confirm their nano-structure. To collect an idea about the effect of metal ions on anti-pathogenic properties upon chelation, the newly synthesized acetyl ferrocene imine ligand and some of its metal chelates were tested against a variety of microorganisms, including Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Candida albicans. The ligand and its metal chelate were tested for cytotoxic activity in human cancer (MCF-7 cell viability) and human melanocyte cell line HBF4. It was discovered that the Cd(II) chelate had the lowest IC50 of the three and thus had the prior activity. Molecular docking was utilized to investigate the interaction of acetyl ferrocene imine ligand (HL) with the receptors of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor VEGFR (PDB ID: 1Y6a), human Topo IIA-bound G-segment DNA crystal structure (PDB ID: 2RGR), and Escherichia coli crystal structure (PDB ID: 3T88).

Abstract
A series of Ni(ii), Cu(ii), Co(ii), and Pd(ii) complexes have been synthesized with a chelating Schiff base ligand coordinated to a metal center with ONS donor atoms. The ligand and complexes are characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques like FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and UV-Visible spectroscopy. The single crystal structure of the Pd(ii) complex is obtained by X-ray diffraction analysis and exhibits slightly distorted square planar geometry. The structure is optimized by DFT, TD-DFT calculation to elaborate the electronic structure and NBO for the charge distribution analysis of the Pd(ii) complex. The synthesized Pd(ii) and Ni(ii) complexes as catalysts have been investigated in the C-S cross-coupling of indoles and active methylenes. The metal propelled regioselective transformation afforded 3-sulfenylated indoles while β-diketones favored deacylated monosulfenyl ketones in an excellent yield via thiouronium salt formation. The Pd(ii) complex displays slightly better reactivity whereas the Ni(ii) complex is cost-efficient. The method is fast, easy to handle and cost effective in terms of high reactivity of catalysts, use of non-toxic solvents, and cheaper aryl halides and thiourea replace conventional sulfur sources, providing a practical access to organic transformations.

Abstract
A detailed structural and spectroscopic study of the disulfide Schiff base obtained from condensation of 2-aminothiophenol and o-vanillin is reported. It includes the analyses of the anhydrous and monohydrate forms of the title compound. Structures of both solids were resolved by X-ray diffraction methods. A comparison between experimental and theoretical results is presented. The conformational space was searched and geometries were optimized both in gas phase and including solvent effects. Vibrational (IR and Raman) and electronic spectra were measured and assigned with the help of computational methods based on the Density Functional Theory. Calculated MEP-derived atomic charges were calculated to predict coordination sites for metal complexes formation.

The interconversion of the enolimine to the ketoamine tautomeric form was observed for compound 1, 6-methoxy-2-(3-pyridylmethyliminomethyl)phenol, and the corresponding equilibrium constant was estimated in several solvents. Protonation constants of all the investigated compounds were determined spectrophotometrically in the methanol/water 1/4 system. The effect of copper(II) ions on absorption and on the emission spectra of these ligands was examined in the buffered dioxane/water 1/1 system (pH 5.8). Strong complexation of Cu(II) and formation of a 1:1 complex were observed for the bis-Schiff base derived from 2,3-diaminopyridine. The complex of copper(II) with compound 1 was isolated and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurement, UV-vis and IR spectrometry.
