Abstract
Stroke is a highly disabling condition, for which music therapy is regularly used in rehabilitation. One possible mechanism for the effects of music therapy is the motivational aspect of music, for example regarding treatment adherence based on improved mood. In this study, changes in motivation related to Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) techniques during rehabilitation in the subacute phase after stroke will be investigated. Using a randomised within-subjects cross-over design, the effects of two NMT techniques and related motivational indices will be investigated. Data will be collected at three timepoints: baseline (TP1), after being randomised into groups and receiving NMT or standard care (TP2), and then at a third time point after the cross-over and having received both conditions (TP3). This design allows to counteract order effects, time effects due to spontaneous and/or nonlinear recovery, as well as single-subject comparisons in a relatively heterogeneous sample. Twenty adult participants who have experienced a supratentorial ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke and are experiencing upper-limb impairments and/or cognitive deficits will be included. Behavioural measures of motor function, cognition, and quality of life will be collected, along with self-reported indices of overall motivation. The study outcomes will have implications for the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of music therapy in stroke recovery, more specifically regarding the relevance of motivational states in neurorehabilitation.

Abstract
This study addresses the growing anxiety and depression among Chinese university students by evaluating and ranking music education strategies to alleviate these issues. We integrates Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). FAHP was utilized to determine the weight of factors such as academic pressures, social relationships, and cultural norms, while fuzzy TOPSIS ranked the effectiveness of music education interventions based on these weights. The results revealed that 'Mental health stigma' and 'Academic Pressures and Rigidity' are among the highest weighted factors, significantly impacting student anxiety. 'Music Appreciation and Music-Based Self-Care' emerged as the most effective strategy. These results highlight the importance of direct involvement in music-related activities for improving student mental health.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the associations between sociodemographic characteristics, perceived barriers to treatment, clinical impairment, and youth treatment engagement. METHOD Participants included 196 families (youth: ages 12 to 18; 64.3% cis-gender female; 23.5% Black, 60.7% White, and 12.2% Mixed/Other race; 41.3% Hispanic or Latinx ethnicity) recruited as part of a comparative effectiveness trial for adolescent anxiety and depression. Self-report measures of sociodemographic characteristics and caregiver perceived barriers were completed at intake. Youth clinical impairment was assessed at baseline via clinical interview. Measures of engagement were collected throughout treatment, including initiation status, session attendance, and termination status. Relationships were examined using analyses of variances and hierarchal linear and logistic modeling. RESULTS Perceived barriers did not differ by sociodemographic characteristics. Greater perceived stressors and obstacles predicted fewer sessions attended and a lower likelihood of successful termination. Youth of caregivers with an advanced degree and those with caregivers who were employed part time attended more sessions and were more likely to initiate and terminate treatment successfully compared to youth with caregivers of a lower education level or student or unemployed status. At higher levels of youth clinical impairment, greater perceived treatment demands and issues predicted reduced likelihood of treatment initiation. CONCLUSIONS Perceived barriers, sociodemographic characteristics, and clinical impairment were all associated with levels of engagement in the treatment process. Baseline and continued assessment of perceived and experienced barriers to treatment may promote individualized strategies for families identified as at-risk for reduced engagement.

Abstract
Mental health disorders and suicidality are rising among adolescents and young adults (A-YA) while rates of treatment engagement remain notoriously low. Emerging research supports the potential of music-based interventions to improve mental health, but their efficacy remains unclear for A-YA. This systematic review evaluates the evidence on music-based psychosocial interventions to improve engagement in treatment and/or mental health outcomes among A-YA. This review was prospectively registered with PROSPERO and followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Twenty-six studies were extracted. There was heterogeneity of designs, populations, measures, and outcomes. A typology of music-based interventions emerged, which is characterized by combinations of three broad categories: 1) Somatosensory, 2) Social-Emotional, and 3) Cognitive-Reflective. Most interventions are Socio-Cognitive and Holistically Integrated (combines all three) followed by Socio-Somatic. All interventions involved Social-Emotional processes. Results indicate that most studies report significant effects for mental health outcomes related to social and emotional improvements and reductions of internalizing symptoms for adolescents. Few studies targeted young adults and effects on engagement were rarely measured. There is a need for more studies that use rigorous methods. This review illuminated a need for interventions that are developmentally and culturally tailored to subgroups. Finally, the field is ripe from more studies that apply experimental therapeutics to conceptualize, operationalize, and test mechanisms of change to improve the understanding of how and for whom music-based interventions work. Recommendations for embedding these innovative strategies into research and practice for A-YA are discussed.
