Abstract
Lu'an Guapian (LAGP) tea is one of the most famous teas in China. However, research on its suitable processing varieties is still lacking. This study analyzed the quality of LAGP tea made from three different tea varieties, namely, 'Anhui1' (AH1), 'Quntizhong' (QTZ), and 'Shuchazao' (SCZ), using molecular sensory science and metabolomics techniques. The results showed that AH1 had a strong floral aroma and the strongest umami flavor, while QTZ had a distinct roasted aroma and a mellow taste. SCZ had a cooked corn-like aroma and the highest bitterness and astringency owing to the high tea polyphenol contents and low free amino acid contents. The study also identified 12 key aroma-active compounds, with trans-beta-ionone and 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethyl-pyrazine contributing the most to floral and roasted aromas, respectively. The results of this study provide a theoretical and practical basis for selecting and breeding high-quality varieties of LAGP tea and stabilizing its quality.

Abstract
Grafting is applied in Solanaceae to improve growth and quality traits. However, grafting potato onto a wooden goji rootstock is rare. Our study introduces a novel distant grafting technique to investigate potato scion responses, specifically regarding photosynthetic and tuber nutritional quality. The physiological and transcriptomic findings reveal an increase in photosynthesis ratio and carbon fixation in potato leaves after 45 days of grafting due to the upregulation of pivotal genes (PsbA, PPC1, rbcl, and GAPDH). After 95 days of long-term growth, the leaf redox balance was maintained with intensified chlorophyll synthesis, facilitated by the enrichment of crucial genes (GUN4, CHLH, CHLP, CAO) and several light-harvesting proteins (Lhca and Lhcb) in potato leaves. The tubers of grafted plants showed a 6.5% increase in crude protein, 51% in anthocyanin, and lower carbohydrate content. Goji altered the expression of tubers genes involved in assimilatory sulfate reduction, which subsequently affects cysteine-methionine biosynthesis. Furthermore, the tuber transcriptome shows ABA signaling and transcription factors regulate the expression of key biosynthetic genes involved in inducing the secondary metabolites, such as scopoletin and anthocyanin accumulation, which are primary polyphenols in goji. Our innovative grafting approach offers valuable insights into the interactions between woody and herbaceous plants for developing future strategies to modulate growth efficiency and tuber quality in the face of climate challenges and to meet the demand for nutritious food.

Abstract
Cultivating microalgae in wastewater offers various advantages, but it still faces limitations such as bacteria and other impurities in wastewater affecting the growth and purity of microalgae, difficulty in microalgae harvesting, and extracellular products of microalgae affecting effluent quality. In this study, a novel dialysis bag-microalgae photobioreactor (Db-PBR) was developed to achieve wastewater purification and purer bioresource recovery by culturing microalgae in a dialysis bag. The dialysis bag in the Db-PBR effectively captured the microalgae cells and promoted their lipid accumulation, leading to higher biomass (1.53 times of the control) and lipid production (2.50 times of the control). During the stable operation stage of Db-PBR, the average soluble microbial products (SMP) content outside the dialysis bag was 25.83 mg L-1, which was significantly lower than that inside the dialysis bag (185.63 mg L-1), indicating that the dialysis bag effectively intercepted the SMP secreted by microalgae. As a result, the concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in Db-PBR effluent was significantly lower than that of traditional photobioreactor. Furthermore, benefiting from the dialysis bag in the reactor effectively intercepted the microorganisms in wastewater, significantly improving the purity of the cultured microalgae biomass, which is beneficial for the development of high-value microalgae products.

Abstract
Summer green tea (SGT) has a low cost and high annual yield, but its utilization rate is limited due to suboptimal quality. The aim of this study is to enhance the flavor of SGT using fermentation with A. niger RAF106 while examining changes in its metabolites during this process. The results revealed an elevation in the content of alcohol, alkanes, and nitroxides in tea leaves following the process of fermentation. The predominant volatile compounds identified in tea leaves after undergoing a 6-day fermentation period were linalool, (Z)-α, α, 5-trimethyl-5-vinyltetrahydrofuran-2-methanol, (E)-linalool oxide (furan type), linalool oxide (pyran type), and theapyrrole. These compounds exhibited significant increases of 31.48%, 230.43%, 225.12%, 70.71%, and 521.62%, respectively, compared to the non-fermented control group (CK). The content of non-ester catechins, soluble sugars, and total flavonoids reached their peak on the 4th day of fermentation, exhibiting significant increases of 114.8%, 95.59%, and 54.70%, respectively. The content of gallic acid and free amino acids reached their peak on the 6th day of fermentation, exhibiting significant increases of 3775% and 18.18%, respectively. However, the content of ester catechin decreased by 81.23%, while caffeine decreased by 7.46%. The content of lactic acid, acetic acid, and citric acid in tea after fermentation was 421.03%, 203.13%, and 544.39% higher than before fermentation, respectively. The present study offers a fresh approach for the advancement of SGT.

Abstract
C50 carotenoids, as unique bioactive molecules, have many biological properties, including antioxidant, anticancer, and antibacterial activity, and have a wide range of potential uses in the food, cosmetic, and biomedical industries. The majority of C50 carotenoids are produced by the sterile fermentation of halophilic archaea. This study aims to look at more cost-effective and manageable ways of producing C50 carotenoids. The basic medium, carbon source supplementation, and optimal culture conditions for Halorubrum sp. HRM-150 C50 carotenoids production by open fermentation were examined in this work. The results indicated that Halorubrum sp. HRM-150 grown in natural brine medium grew faster than artificial brine medium. The addition of glucose, sucrose, and lactose (10 g/L) enhanced both biomass and carotenoids productivity, with the highest level reaching 4.53 ± 0.32 μg/mL when glucose was added. According to the findings of orthogonal studies based on the OD600 and carotenoids productivity, the best conditions for open fermentation were salinity 20-25%, rotation speed 150-200 rpm, and pH 7.0-8.2. The up-scaled open fermentation was carried out in a 7 L medium under optimum culture conditions. At 96 h, the OD600 and carotenoids productivity were 9.86 ± 0.51 (dry weight 10.40 ± 1.27 g/L) and 7.31 ± 0.65 μg/mL (701.40 ± 21.51 μg/g dry weight, respectively). When amplified with both universal bacterial primer and archaeal primer in the open fermentation, Halorubrum remained the dominating species, indicating that contamination was kept within an acceptable level. To summarize, open fermentation of Halorubrum is a promising method for producing C50 carotenoids.

Abstract
Introduction: Excessive demand, environmental problems, and shortages in market-leader countries have led the citrus (essential) oil market price to drift to unprecedented high levels with negative implications for citrus oil-dependent secondary industries. However, the high price conditions have promoted market incentives for the incorporation of new small-scale suppliers as a short-term supply solution for the market. Essential oil chemical extraction via steam distillation is a valuable option for these new suppliers at a lab and small-scale production level. Nevertheless, mass-scaling production requires prediction tools for better large-scale control of outputs.Methods: This study provides an intelligent model based on a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) artificial neural network (ANN) for developing a highly reliable numerical dependency between the chemical extraction output from essential oil steam distillation processes (output vector) and orange peel mass loading (input vector). In a data pool of 25 extraction experiments, 14 output–input pairs were the in training set, 6 in the testing set, and 5 cross-compared the model’s accuracy with traditional numerical approaches.Results and Discussion: After varying the number of nodes in the hidden layer, a 1–9–1 MLP topology best optimizes the statistical parameters (coefficient of determination (R2) and mean square error) of the testing set, achieving a precision of nearly 97.6%. Our model can capture non-linearity behavior when scaling-up production output for mass production processes, thus providing a viable answer for the scalability issue with a state-of-the-art computational tool for planning, management, and mass production of citrus essential oils.

Abstract
In this study, the potential effect of surfactant assisted ultrasonic pretreatment on mixed food waste was investigated. Surfactants, such as Rhamnolipid, Sodium dodecyl sulfate; Glucopon and Triton X 100 were evaluated in this work. Among them, the maximum solubilization of chemical oxygen demand of 45.5 % and the highest release of soluble COD of 31 g/L were observed for ultrasonication assisted by Triton X 100 at a dose of 0.01 g/g TS in 30 min. The presence of a surfactant also reduced 27.5 % of energy demand when compared to ultrasonic pretreatment alone. Compared to the non-pretreated samples after anaerobic digestion, ultrasonication assisted by Triton X 100 led to 95 % increase of volatile fatty acid titers and 83 % increase of carbon conversion efficiency. Thus, sonication with the addition of Triton X 100 was proven to be highly effective toward increasing digestibility of and yield of volatile fatty acid from mixed food waste.

Abstract
Practically, high-yield conversion of biomass into value-added products at low cost is a primary goal for any lignocellulosic refinery. In the industrial context, the limitation in the practical adaptation of the conventional techniques practically involves multiple reactors for the conversion of biomass to bioproducts. Therefore, the present manuscript critically reviewed the advancements in one-pot reaction systems with a major focus on the scientific production of value-added products from lignocellulosic biomass. In view of that, the novelty of one-pot reactions is shown during the fractionation of biomass into their individual constituents. The importance of the direct conversion of cellulose and lignin into a range of valuable products including organic acids and platform chemicals are separately discussed. Finally, the article is concluded with the opportunities, existing troubles, and possible solutions to overcome the challenges in lignocellulosic biorefinery. This article will assist the readers to identify the economic-friendly-one-pot conversion of lignocellulosic biomass.

Abstract
Biodrying is a treatment to remove moisture using bio-heat generated during organic degradation. Organic matter degradation and microbial metabolism were studied during the whole kitchen waste biodrying, using metagenomic analysis. After the 25-day biodrying process, carbohydrate, protein and lipid contents decreased by 83.7%, 27.8% and 79.3%, respectively, and their degradation efficiencies increased after the thermophilic phase. Lipase activity exceeded 10 mmol d-1 g-1 throughout biodrying. Cellulase and lipase activities recovered by 2.21% and 5.77%, respectively, after the thermophilic phase, while the protease activity had a maximum increment of 347%. Metabolic analysis revealed that carbohydrate, amino acid and lipid metabolism was possibly inhibited by the high temperature, but the relative abundances of related predicted functions recovered by more than 0.9%, 7% and 11%, respectively, by the end of biodrying. Protein function prediction suggests that β-oxidation, fatty acid biosynthesis, and the degradation of cellulose and chitin were possibly enhanced during the thermophilic phase. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis revealed that leucine, isoleucine and lysine could ultimately degraded to acetyl-CoA. Weissella, Aeribacillus and Bacillus were the genera with the most enriched functional genes during the whole biodrying process. These findings help elucidate the microbial degradation processes during biodrying, which provides further scientific support for improving the application of biodrying products.

Abstract
Background Pyruvate kinase widely exists in many parasites and plays an important role in the energy production for the parasites. Pyruvate kinase might be a potential drug target for killing the parasites. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the biological characteristics and roles of T. spiralis pyruvate kinase M (TsPKM) in sugar metabolism, larval molting and development of T. spiralis. Methodology/Principal findings TsPKM has two functional domains of pyruvate kinase and the tertiary structure of TsPKM is tetramer which has the enzyme active site constituted by 8 amino-acid residues (Arg71, Asn73, Asp110, Phe241, Lys267, Glu269, Asp293 and Thr325). Recombinant TsPKM (rTsPKM) was expressed and purified. The rTsPKM had good immunogenicity. RT-PCR and Western blot showed that TsPKM was transcribed and expressed at various developmental stages in T. spiralis lifecycle. Immunofluorescence test showed that TsPKM was principally located in the cuticle, muscle, stichosome, intestine and the intrauterine embryos of female adults. rTsPKM catalyzed the reaction of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to produce pyruvic acid and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). TsPKM played an important role in the metabolism and energy production of T. spiralis. After silencing of TsPKM gene by specific dsRNA-TsPKM2, protein expression and enzyme activity of TsPKM decreased by 50.91 and 26.06%, respectively. After treatment with RNAi, natural TsPKM enzyme activity, larval molting, sugar metabolism, growth and development of T. spiralis were significantly reduced. Conclusions TsPKM participates in the larval molting, sugar metabolism, growth and development of T. spiralis and it might be a candidate target of therapeutic drug of trichinellosis. Pyruvate kinases belong to transferases and can transfer the high-energy phosphate bond of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to produce pyruvic acid and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Pyruvate kinases play a significant biological role in the parasite survival in hosts. Our results revealed that TsPKM was expressed at various T. spiralis developmental stages, and principally located in the cuticle, stichosome, intestine and the intrauterine embryos of female adults. rTsPKM catalyzed the reaction of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to produce pyruvic acid and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Abstract
Carbohydrate digestion in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract is catalyzed by α-amylases and α-glucosidases to produce monosaccharides for absorption. Inhibition of these enzymes is the major activity of the drugs acarbose and miglitol, which are used to manage diabetes. Furthermore, delaying carbohydrate digestion via inhibition of α-amylases and α-glucosidases is an effective strategy to blunt blood glucose spikes, a major risk factor for developing metabolic diseases. Here, we present an in vitro protocol developed to accurately and specifically assess the activity of α-amylases and α-glucosidases, including sucrase, maltase and isomaltase. The assay is especially suitable for measuring inhibition by compounds, drugs and extracts, with minimal interference from impurities or endogenous components, because the substrates and digestive products in the enzyme activity assays are quantified directly by high-performance anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAE-PAD). Multiple enzyme sources can be used, but here we present the protocol using commercially available human α-amylase to assess starch hydrolysis with maltoheptaose as the substrate, and with brush border sucrase-isomaltase (with maltase, sucrase and isomaltase activities) derived from differentiated human intestinal Caco-2(/TC7) cells to assess hydrolysis of disaccharides. The wet-lab assay takes ~2-5 h depending on the number of samples, and the HPAE-PAD analysis takes 35 min per sample. A full dataset therefore takes 1-3 d and allows detection of subtle changes in enzyme activity with high sensitivity and reliability.

Abstract
Natural carbohydrates are gaining importance over a wide spectrum of human activity due to their versatile functionalities. The properties of carbohydrates are currently used in many branches of industry and new possibilities of their utilization, like in medicine or materials science, are demonstrated systematically. The attractive properties of carbohydrates result from their chemical structure and ability to form macromolecules and derivatives. Each application of carbohydrate requires a knowledge of their chemical composition, which due to the number and differentiation of monosaccharides and their spatial forms is often challenging. This review presents an overview on sample preparation and the methods used for the determination of the fine chemical structure of natural carbohydrates. Most popular and reliable colorimetric, chromatographic and spectroscopic methods are presented with an emphasis on their pros and cons.

Abstract
Microalgal biomass is an emerging source of renewable energy and health-related compounds. However, harvesting of microalgae is a techno-economic hinder. In this research, chitosan and polyacrylamide were optimized harvesting condition for Chlorella vulgaris. Stirring at 300 rpm for 2 min is optimum for chitosan and polyacrylamide. Low-dose (10 mg/L) chitosan (flocculation efficiency (FE), 98.10 ± 1.06%) is more efficient than high-dose (25 mg/L) polyacrylamide (FE 94.57 ± 0.55%) for harvesting C. vulgaris. Chitosan resulted flocs settled more quickly than polyacrylamide, while polyacrylamide keep > 90% FE in a wider pH range (7-10) than chitosan (7-8). Chitosan and polyacrylamide both have no negative effect on biomass composition, including protein, carbohydrate, and carotenoid. C. vulgaris in flocs could successfully regrow in fresh culture media. The residual culture media was recycled with little impact on cell growth. All the results suggested that chitosan and polyacrylamide could harvest high-quality microalgal biomass.

Abstract
Summer green tea (SGT) has poor flavor due to its high levels of bitterness and astringency. The present study aimed to improve the flavor of SGT using the yellowing process. The results showed that after the yellowing process, the sweetness and overall acceptability increased, and the content of gallated catechins and flavonol glycosides decreased by 30.2% and 27.4%, respectively, as did the bitterness and astringency of SGT. Yellowing caused a decrease in the concentration of some aroma compounds, such as (z)-3-hexen-1-ol, 1-hexanol, pentanal, heptanal and 1-octanol, which caused grassy, floral and fruity aromas. In contrast, the concentrations of 1-octen-3-ol, benzene acetaldehyde and β-ionone increased, which have mushroom and sweet aromas. Meanwhile, the sweetness and umami of SGT were enhanced by the addition of selected aroma compounds (1-octen-3-ol, benzene acetaldehyde and β-ionone), demonstrating that the yellowing process improves the flavor of SGT through odor-taste interactions.

Abstract
The yellowing process is the crucial step to form the characteristic sensory and chemical properties of yellow tea. To investigate the chemical changes and the associations with sensory traits during yellowing, yellow teas with different yellowing times (0–13 h) were prepared for sensory evaluation and chemical analysis. The intensities of umami and green-tea aroma were reduced whereas sweet taste, mellow taste and sweet aroma were increased under long-term yellowing treatment. A total of 230 chemical constituents were determined, among which 25 non-volatiles and 42 volatiles were the key chemical contributors to sensory traits based on orthogonal partial least squares discrimination analysis (OPLS-DA), multiple factor analysis (MFA) and multidimensional alignment (MDA) analysis. The decrease in catechins, flavonol glycosides and caffeine and the increase in certain amino acids contributed to the elevated sweet taste and mellow taste. The sweet, woody and herbal odorants and the fermented and fatty odorants were the key contributors to the characteristic sensory feature of yellow tea with sweet aroma and over-oxidation aroma, including 7 ketones, 5 alcohols, 1 aldehyde, 5 acids, 4 esters, 5 hydrocarbons, 1 phenolic compound and 1 sulfocompound. This study reveals the sensory trait-related chemical changes in the yellowing process of tea, which provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of the yellowing process and quality control of yellow tea.

Abstract
Prebiotic oligosaccharides are of widespread interest in the food industry due to their potential health benefits. This has triggered a need for research into their sensory properties. Such research is currently limited due to the lack of available food-grade oligosaccharide preparations with specific degree of polymerization (DP). The aim of this study was to develop economical approaches for the preparation and characterization of prebiotic oligosaccharides differing with respect to composition and DP. Such preparations were prepared by chromatographic fractionation of commercially available prebiotic mixtures using microcrystalline cellulose stationary phases and aqueous ethanol mobile phases. This approach is shown to work for the preparation of food-grade fructooligosaccharides of DP 3 and 4, galactooligosaccharides of DP 3 and 4, and xylooligosaccharides of DP 2-4. Methods for the characterization of the different classes of oligosaccharides are also presented including those addressing purity, identity, total carbohydrate content, moles per unit mass, and DP.

Abstract
This study reports the effects of aqueous extracts obtained from three fern species of Bulgarian origin: Asplenium ceterach L., Asplenium scolopendrium L., and Asplenium trichomanes L. on the contractility and bioelectrogenesis of rat gastric smooth muscle tissues. In the concentration range 0.015-0.150 mg/mL the three extracts contracted smooth muscle tissues in a concentration-dependent manner. The contractions caused by A. ceterach L. and A. scolopendrium L. extracts (0.150 mg/mL) were reduced by ketanserin (5 × 10-7 and 5 × 10-6 mol/L), an antagonist of serotonin 5-HT2 receptor. The contraction evoked by A. trichomanes L. (0.150 mg/mL) was significantly reduced by 1 × 10-6 mol/L atropine, an antagonist of muscarinic receptors, and turned into relaxation against the background of 3 × 10-7 mol/L galantamine. After combined pretreatment with galantamine and l-arginine (5 × 10-4 mol/L), this relaxation become more pronounced. The study demonstrates that constituents of A. ceterach L. and A. scolopendrium L. extracts act as agonists of 5-HT2 receptors and cause contraction by activating serotonergic signaling system. A. trichomanes L.-induced reaction is an additive result of two opposite-in-character effects. The dominant contraction is initiated by inhibition of acetylcholinesterase activity. The relaxation develops with pre-inhibited acetylcholinesterase, it is significantly potentiated by l-arginine, and therefore associated with nitrergic signaling pathway.

Abstract
Ginkgo biloba has been cultivated in Bulgaria since the end of the 19th century. Ividual specimens can be seen in almost every park. Females of the tree are considered contaminants of the landscape because their ripe seeds have a strong odor and are not utilized. We undertook this study to clarify whether ginkgo seeds of local origin can be converted from an unwanted and unused environmental pollutant into a source of beneficial compounds. Various analytical and chromatographic methods were used to quantify the major constituents and ten biologically active compounds in methanol seed extract. The results showed that the seeds are low in proteins (5%) and fats (1%); the seeds were also rich in unsaturated fatty acids and tocopherols. About 44% of nut starch was resistant to in vitro enzymatic hydrolysis. The amount of terpene trilactones in an aqueous-methanol seed extract was significantly higher than the number of flavonoids. Ginkgotoxin and ginkgolic acid were also found. The extract demonstrated weak antimicrobial activity against thirteen microorganisms. This study revealed that seeds of locally grown Ginkgo trees can be used as a source of biologically active substances. The chemical composition show similarity to those of seeds from other geographical areas.

Abstract
The elucidation of plant health status requires quantifying multiple molecular metabolism markers. Until now, the extraction of these biomarkers is performed independently, with different extractions and protocols. This approach is inefficient, since it increases laboratory time, amount of sample, and could introduce biases or difficulties when comparing data. To limit these drawbacks, we introduce a versatile protocol for quantifying seven of the most commonly analysed biomarkers (photosynthetic pigments, free amino acids, soluble sugars, starch, phenolic compounds, flavonoids and malondialdehyde) covering substantial parts of plant metabolism, requiring only a minimum sample amount and common laboratory instrumentation. The procedures of this protocol rely on classic methods that have been updated to allow their sequential use, increasing reproducibility, sensibility and easiness to obtain quantitative results. Our method has been tested and validated over an extended diversity of organisms (Arabidopsis thaliana, Solanum lycopersicum, Olea europaea, Quercus ilex, Pinus pinaster and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii), tissues (leaves, roots and seeds) and stresses (cold, drought, heat, ultraviolet B and nutrient deficiency). Its application will allow increasing the number of parameters that can be monitored at once while decreasing sample handling and consequently, increasing the capacity of the laboratory.

Abstract
While the pharmacology of Ginkgo biloba leaf extract has been studied extensively, little is known about the pharmacological potential of Ginkgo biloba seeds, although they contain similar active ingredients that are responsible for the therapeutic effects of the leaf extract. In this study we used 70%-methanol Ginkgo biloba kernel extract, quantified its bioactive constituents and tested their cytotoxic effect on two cancer cell lines, A2058 and HCT116, and the non-tumor cell line McCoy-Plovdiv. We studied the biological effect of the extract by real-time analysis in the xCELLigence system, WST-1 assay and LIVE/DEAD viability assay. We show that the extract significantly perturbed the viability of cancer cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. In contrast, non-cancerous McCoy-Plovdiv cells sustained their proliferation potential even at high concentrations of the extract. Therefore, we propose that the active constituents of the Ginkgo biloba endosperm extract may interact additively or synergistically to protect against cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The exposure of microalgae and plants to low UV-C radiation dosages can improve their biomass composition and stress tolerance. Despite UV-C sharing these effects with UV-A/B but at much lower dosages, UV-C sensing and signal mechanisms are still mostly unknown. Thus, we have described and integrated the proteometabolomic and physiological changes occurring in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii-a simple Plantae model-into the first 24 h after a short and low-intensity UV-C irradiation in order to reconstruct the microalgae response system to this stress. RESULTS The microalgae response was characterized by increased redox homeostasis, ROS scavenging and protein damage repair/avoidance elements. These processes were upregulated along with others related to the modulation of photosynthetic electron flux, carbon fixation and C/N metabolism. These changes, attributed to either direct UV-C-, ROS- or redox unbalances-associated damage, trigger a response process involving novel signaling intermediaries and effectors such as the translation modulator FAP204, a PP2A-like protein and a novel DYRK kinase. These elements were found linked to the modulation of Chlamydomonas biomass composition (starch accumulation) and proliferation, within an UV-C response probably modulated by different epigenetic factors. CONCLUSION Chosen multiomics integration approach was able to describe many fast changes, including biomass composition and ROS stress tolerance, as a response to a low-intensity UV-C stress. Moreover, the employed omics and systems biology approach placed many previously unidentified protein and metabolites at the center of these changes. These elements would be promising targets for the characterization of this stress response in microalgae and plants and the engineering of more productive microalgae strains.

Abstract
This study aimed to use floating photobioreactor (PBR) to produce microalgae biomass for aquaculture applications, and this was tested with cultivation of Isochrysis zhangjiangensis. The highest cell density of 16.1 ± 0.61 × 106 cell L-1 was obtained in an outdoor culture with a depth of 5.0 cm in 1.0 m2 floating PBR, but deeper culture resulted in higher biomass productivity. Large-scale cultivation at size of 10 m2 (1000 L) produced the highest cell density of 17.8 × 106 cell L-1 and highest biomass productivity of 0.115 g L-1 d-1, which was at the same level as that for flat-panel PBR (100 L). This developed technique provides an innovative approach to produce microalgae on site for use as fresh aquaculture feed, as well as fresh cells for use as seed inoculums for large-area aquaculture water bodies. This approach provides not only a low-cost microalgae production system but also better integration between microalgae production and aquaculture.

Abstract
Owing to the concept of modern life and health, traditional baked foods are seeking transition. In this study, sweet corn residue (SCR) was used to replace wheat flour in cakes. We conducted sensory evaluation and texture analysis to assess sample quality. Also, we simulated digestion in vitro, and determined the content of total sugar and dietary fiber. The content of vitamin E and carotenoids were determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and the content of folate was determined by a microbiological method. With the increase of SCR, the content of dietary fiber, folate, vitamin E, and carotenoids significantly increased, and the digestive characteristics improved simultaneously. Based on the above evaluations, SCRC2 (sweet corn residue cake with 60% substitution) had similar sensory quality to the control (pure wheat flour cake) and had the characteristics of slow digestibility and high micronutrients.
